This year Kanye West toasted all the douche bags for the very first time. Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson locked lips, and so did Scarlett and Sandra. You just never know what's going to happen at an MTV awards show. But now, at least, you know when they're going to happen, as we've just announced our 2011 schedule.

The 20th annual MTV Movie Awards will air live on Sunday, June 5, at 9 p.m. (ET/PT) from Los Angeles.

The 28th annual MTV Video Music Awards will air live on Sunday, August 28 at 9 p.m. (ET/PT).

And, in its first move outside of New York City, the sixth annual mtvU Woodie Awards will air live for the first time ever on Wednesday, March 16, at 12 a.m. (ET/PT) on MTV, MTV2 and mtvU from the Austin Music Hall in Austin, Texas, during the South By Southwest Music Festival.

"We are thrilled to plant the MTV flag early for next year by announcing our 2011 dates for the biggest and most influential nights in music, the VMAs and Woodies, as well as Hollywood's most outlandish evening of entertainment, the Movie Awards," said Stephen Friedman, general manager of MTV. "We can't imagine a better place for the 2011 mtvU Woodie Awards than Austin, a city that is synonymous with great live music and recognized as one of the country's most dynamic college towns."

So where will the Movie Awards and VMAs be held? Which celebs will be walking the carpet, handing out awards and competing for Golden Popcorn and Moonmen? You'll have to stay tuned, because we'll have plenty of news in the months to come. For now, mark your pop-culture calendars — who knows what will go down in 2011?

Nicki Minaj Says 'People Need To See' Her 'My Time Now' Documentary

Doc premieres Sunday, November 28, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.

Hip-hop fans have already seen quite a few sides of Nicki Minaj when it comes to her music, including Roman Zolanski, Barbie and a string of other alter egos. But in "My Time Now," the documentary on Minaj set to premiere Sunday, November 28, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV, viewers will meet Onika Miraj, the Trinidad-born girl who came Stateside with her parents in search of a better life.

"They're gonna meet Onika," she told MTV News about the doc. "Everybody sees Nicki Minaj; they're gonna meet Onika. They're gonna hear my story, and it's such an inspirational story, which I never really wanted to tell. 'Cause everyone always feels like you don't want people to know too much. But when I saw what [MTV and production company @radical.media] did, I thought, 'People need to see this.' It reminds you that everyone always feels like this is it, but there's always a light at the end of the tunnel, and I feel like that's what the doc says at the end."

In the documentary, cameras follow Nicki over three months as she travels back to her native Trinidad for the first time in seven years; records her debut album, Pink Friday; and purchases a home in New York for her mother.

"I am amazed at what I've seen in this film," Minaj said in a statement. " ... This film is my heart & soul. The visual component to Pink Friday. My fans are the most incredible humans on this planet. Words could never translate my gratitude. Thank you for standing by me. It's our time now."

Members of the hip-hop media have praised "My Time Now" for its candid portrayal of the star.

"We often approach female artists with skepticism," TheBVX.com editor Timmhotep Aku told MTV News. "There's always been this debate about Nicki within the industry and the general public about how authentic her artistry is. And I think the moment when she's in the booth, when she's writing her rhymes, she's going through her take, kind of speaks to her own authenticity. Nick is really a force to be reckoned with, because she's not manufactured."

My Chemical Romance Bring The Killjoys To Life In L.A.

Band thunders through fierce set in Los Angeles.
By James Montgomery

HOLLYWOOD -- "How are you tonight?" flame-haired frontman Gerard Way panted, five-songs into his band's set on Monday (November 22) night. "We are My Chemical Romance and it's very amazing to be back."

It was sort of an odd thing to say, and not just because he was asking a rhetorical question (since it was pretty clear that everyone in attendance was doing quite well). But rather, because My Chemical Romance really haven't been My Chemical Romance for a while now ... instead, as any private in the MCRmy can tell you, they've been masquerading as the freedom-fighting, oft-dying Killjoys, titular heroes of the band's brand-new Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys album, the release of which they were celebrating on Monday at the House Of Blues on the Sunset Strip.

That transformation was evident in everything from the "Zone 5 Carnival" they threw outside the venue--complete with games, wandering Draculoid soldiers and a tattoo artist who, for $60, would permanently ink you with "MCR"--to the Danger Days signage (ads for Dead Pegasus Motor Oil and Better Living Industries, both of which are key set pieces of the new album's post-apocalyptic world) they plastered onto every available surface in the place.

But mainly, and most tangibly, it was apparent in the breakneck, kinetic, downright Killjoy-ian energy they brought to their set (which streamed live on MTV.com), a frantic, four-on-the-floor death race of songs both new and old, all of which bristled with reckless abandon and outlaw swagger.

From opening number--and Danger Days' first single--"Na Na Na" to older standouts like "House Of Wolves," "Famous Last Words" and "Helena," MCR (or, really, the Killjoys) put the pedal to the metal and never let up, pummling through chord progressions, pounding out rhythms both primal and precise, and whipping their hair hard enough to give Willow Smith pause. Way strutted and preened, blew kisses to the audience, and struck so many rock star poses that one couldn't help but think back to the hair metal heyday of the Strip. Guitarists Ray Toro and Frank Iero pulled solo after solo out of their frets, collapsed in heaps and kept things churning. Way's brother Mikey was stoic and cocksure, teaming with touring drummer Michael Pedicone to form a formidable backbone.

Augmented by keyboardist James Dewees and--on new song "Sing," a pair of bodacious backup singers--the band was ferocious, and even on slower numbers like "The Only Hope For Me Is You," "The Ghost Of You," and (sorta) "Mama," they still pulsed with intensity. Every icy synth wash, every chunky chord and every guttural yelp was purposeful, pointed. My Chem meant every second of it, and you could tell. And the crowd matched that dedication every step of the way, surging and kicking, pogoing and even (as Way requested) showing their Jazz Hands in perfect unison. Even the moshing--of which there was plenty--seemed to be more intense than usual.

And after master blasting for an hour, MCR closed with "The Kids From Yesterday," a standout track on Danger Days (an album full of standout tracks), which kept soaring higher and higher, practically up to the Dead Pegasus banner hanging in the rafters. And as the chords finally faded out into the horizon, and Pedicone and Way kept the back beat pounding, Way and Toro smiled and high fived. It was part congratulatory gesture and, if one were to get deep about it, part purpose-driven statement: Transformation complete, they seemed to be saying.

As Miley Cyrus Turns 18, What's Next?

Find out what the birthday girl has planned for 2011.
By Jocelyn Vena

Miley Cyrus is 18. The "Hannah Montana" star is finally able to vote, and that means she has a whole future ahead of her in the world of music and movies. As 2010 wraps up, it seems that 2011 will be just as busy for the teen star, and while she's taking a break from music (not that you'd be able to tell, thanks to her bevy of music videos and awards-show performances), she has a bustling film career for fans to follow in the coming 12 months.

Cyrus recently wrapped her Ashley Greene co-starring flick "LOL: Laughing Out Loud," which saw the star not only filming Stateside but also in Paris. The movie follows teens who rely on the Internet to socialize, leaving their parents (Miley's mom is played by Demi Moore) confused by the modern relationships their children are in.

"[Miley] is a true professional, and she truly has a wonderful family," Moore said about her teen co-star. "It really shows." The veteran actress plays the overbearing, confounded mom of Cyrus' character, who gets freaked out after accidentally reading her daughter's journal and finding out just how out of touch they have become.

Miley is also getting ready for some action for her next role in the flick "So Undercover," where she'll play "a tough, street-smart private eye hired by the FBI to go undercover in a college sorority." The flick means that the star will have to learn to fight for the role.

"She's basically this chick who grows up as a super tomboy, and she's an FBI agent and gets thrown into a bunch of girls that she doesn't understand because she's been around her dad, who's been in the FBI his whole life," Miley explained. "And basically, by having to go undercover and be someone that she's not, she kind of finds the person she is, because she realizes she doesn't have to carry the weight on her shoulder of what her dad was, and she can be her own person."

While Miley has finished shooting "Hannah Montana," her hit Disney series won't go off the air until 2011. "I think that she's growing with the show, and I think it's such a great platform for her," her pal Selena Gomez told MTV News about the star's plans to walk away. "And she's lived up to it as wonderfully as she could, and I think she continues to carry it, but she's ready for other things."

Until then, Cyrus will hang out with her family for her big day, something that she was looking forward to the last time we spoke with her.

"I'm not going to go crazy; [just] have a fun party and then maybe take a vacation with my family ... because that would be really cool. I think we need time to all be together," she said. "So that would be rad if we could all go to the beach or something. ... [I have] no idea [where we're going]; somewhere near water. I'm a water baby; I have to be near the water and I love doing scuba and going out and being on a boat."

Share your birthday wishes for Miley in the comments!

Beyonce Says She Takes Pregnancy Rumors In Stride

'I just hope that one day, when I decide to be pregnant that people are happy for me,' superstar jokes about year-round bump-watch.

In 2010 alone, Beyoncé was pregnant at least twice, if you believe the rumors.

While the singer shot down the talk both times, she says that at this point she's pretty much to used to people speculating about potential baby bumps. "I mean, it's a part of it. At this point they said I've been pregnant like eight times, so I'm kind of used to it," Beyoncé told MTV News at a screening for her concert DVD, "I Am ... World Tour," in New York City.

"I just hope that one day, when I decide to be pregnant that people are happy for me, 'cause I'm like gosh, like, everyone's like, 'Oh god, please! She's been pregnant 100 times.' One day, hopefully, I will be. So whatever; it's a part of being a celebrity, I guess."

Her mom, Tina Knowles, was also at the screening and when asked if she thought that 2011 might be the year we give up gossiping about Bey's pregnancy status, she played it cool. "You have to ask her those personal things," she said. "I don't know!"

But Tina was also the lady to shoot down the baby-bump rumors last month when she sat down with talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres.

"I heard that, but I'm here to clear the rumors up. The truth is it's not Beyoncé that's pregnant, it's me," she joked. "No, it's not true. Not right now. I'm looking forward to it. With all the rumors, by now I should have about five or six grandchildren."

What do you think of the constant speculation about Bey and a baby bump? Tell us in the comments!

Key Cameos: Big Sean, Yelawolf, Donnis, Big K.R.I.T., Pill, J. Cole and more

Essential Info: You would think on the heels of dropping a critically acclaimed mixtape, CyHi the Prynce would take his act on the road or bask in the praise. But the Decatur, Georgia, native must subscribe to the motto "no rest for the weary." Just a month after dropping Royal Flush, CyHi is set to drop another collection to the streets, the collabo-heavy Allies.

"Everyone was asking me on the Royal Flush [project], why didn't I do some songs with other guys," Prynce told MTV News' Sway Calloway during an appearance on "RapFix Live." "So it was cool, they liked the songs, they just wanted to hear me with some of my peers as well."

The forthcoming 14-song collection is tentatively slated to arrive in mid-December, just in time for the holidays, he said of his gift to fans. So far, he's nine songs into the project and looking to lock in his G.O.O.D. Music crew member Pusha T for the potential first offering, "A Thousand Pounds." The track is a thought-provoking number about what the MCs featured on the song would do should they come into that amount of money.

The mixtape will be the upstart MC's third of the year, following his Greg Street and Green Lantern-helmed The Prynce of Jacks and last month's Royal Flush

"I feel like I can do it more than once, more than three times," CyHi said of releasing more material. "I gave y'all my nukes. I threw a couple of nukes in. Other than that, it's the same me, just more wise and more groomed."

Tim Burton Has A Big 2010 Thanks To 'Alice In Wonderland,' MOMA Exhibit

And that's why the veteran director is one of the entertainers we're most thankful for this year.

In Hollywood, the land of superlatives and flagrant puffery, the term "visionary" is thrown about too casually and bestowed upon flash-in-the-pan acts that all too often come and go with the change of seasons.

However, one artist for whom the descriptor is fitting, whose films truly transport audiences to other dimensions and offer a childlike sense of wonder, is director Tim Burton. And this year, thanks to "Alice in Wonderland," which brought in an estimated $1 billion at the box office ($334 million domestic, $690 million international) in addition to 20-plus years of unique and exciting filmmaking, Burton is one of the folks in the entertainment world for whom we're most thankful.

As part of MTV's Thankful Week, we had the pleasure of chatting with Burton about the stress and eventual success of "Alice," if we'll be seeing a sequel or a musical adaptation on the Great White Way and a few hints about upcoming projects.

MTV: Tim, every year here at MTV News, we select a few people we're most thankful for. And you've had quite a year with the phenomenal success of "Alice in Wonderland" and a retrospective at New York's Museum of Modern Art.

Tim Burton: Wow. Well, that's quite an honor. Thank you.

MTV: Did it feel like this year was a special one?

Burton: Yeah, it was interesting. The MOMA show was very special, and then going to the Cannes film festival and "Alice" — it was a lot of stuff going on. It was a special year for me, definitely.

MTV: Were you a little more reflective than usual with the MOMA show?

Burton: Yeah, I think so. It kind of forced me to look at myself, which I don't do very often. I even avoid mirrors as I walk by them. It was a bit of a surprise in a good way. It did make me more reflective. You know, as you go on in life, there are less and less surprises — especially nice surprises, so it's really, really great to feel surprised in a good way.

MTV: We spoke a few times when you were working on "Alice," and frankly, you seemed stressed.

Burton: I was really stressed. We were doing music to no images. It was terrifying. In a weird way, it was quite exciting too, because you never know with a film what it's going to turn out to be. But this was just an extreme, extreme version of that.

MTV: How did you feel about the 3-D debate that came with the film? Some criticized the conversion to 3-D you used.

Burton: Right, yeah, but that was kind of a funny argument because the thing is, we'll shoot what? It's not like we were doing motion-capture or we had sets. There was nothing to shoot. We planned for it. It was kind of a created argument in a way. Everybody likes to have a celebrity death match. Who will win? Things have more shades to it than that.

MTV: Right, because a lot of it became about you and James Cameron's different approaches to 3-D.

Burton: Yeah. They're doing "Titanic" in 3-D. What, they're going to go back and shoot it in 3-D? No. They're going to do the same thing we did.

MTV: Is Disney putting the pressure on for a sequel for "Alice"?

Burton: No, they haven't, which was smart of them. They saw that it was kind of its own thing. They didn't push for it at all, which I thought was really amazing, and smart, and right.

MTV: And you are content to leave the story where it is? Because you do leave an opening at the end ...

Burton: Yeah, but that's what the material does to me, it leaves it open for you. It's kind of like dreams. It leaves it open, as it should, for interpretation. It's like I got a lot of pressure to do a sequel to "Nightmare [Before Christmas]," and I just didn't want to do that, because some movies should just be left alone. I think it keeps their kind of spirit intact in a way.

MTV: There's been talk about adapting "Alice" into a Broadway show. Are you involved in that?

Burton: I'm talking to them about that just because there was a seedling of an idea that I thought was interesting. I don't know how far it will go, but it's something. I've always kind of wanted to do something live onstage. I'm just going to explore it and see what happens.

MTV: It sounds like you'll be shooting "Dark Shadows" with Johnny Depp soon?

Burton: Yeah, I'm working on the script, and, you know, it's been kind of a long time coming, but I think I'm getting a script that I like. I don't really like talking, because I'm not really sure what's happening yet, but I'm excited about it. I think, yes, finally for me, it's getting to be the right tone.

MTV: Have you and Johnny talked specifically about his take on Barnabas Collins, the vampire at the center of the series?

Burton: Yeah, we've been talking about it. I mean, he's finishing up another movie, but we've had a couple of really good meetings. Yeah, you know, I'm excited.

MTV: Have you started shooting "Frankenweenie"?

Burton: We just started a couple of shots. It 's good. We've got a pretty low budget, but I'm excited about it. We've got a couple of shots that are done. Yeah, it's just starting. It's great.

Thanksgiving is a time for taking stock, expressing gratitude and, most importantly, overeating. We at MTV News have been gorging all year at movie theaters, so it's about time we looked back and gave thanks to our favorite actors and filmmakers of 2010. 'Love And Other Drugs' Co-Stars Have Chemistry On (And Off) Screen

'Just wait, she's going to say something amazing,' Jake Gyllenhaal gushes about Anne Hathaway during MTV News interview.

Much of the advance buzz about Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal's "Love and Other Drugs" has centered on the film's nudity — the co-stars bare some serious skin in a few key moments — but the actors' chemistry is another important element in the movie.

Actors will typically declare how well the cast and crew got along on set when promoting a movie, whether it's true or not. But in the case of Hathaway and Gyllenhaal, it seemed obvious the two share a genuine mutual affection, as MTV News learned when we caught up with them to discuss their romantic comedy, which opens Wednesday. Since Hathaway and Gyllenhaal have collaborated onscreen before, we asked what it was like to do press together.

"[She's] annoying," Gyllenhaal joked about having to sit side-by-side for interviews all day. Then, turning serious, he added, "She's so dope at press. Can we talk about this for a second? She's got a rare talent at 'pressing' it."

"How dare you set me up at the beginning of an interview like that?" Hathaway interjected in mock protest. "How dare you!"

"Your mind is going to be blown by this chick," Gyllenhaal continued.

"Wait, he's about to say the smartest thing you've ever heard!" Hathaway countered.

"No, just wait, she's going to say something amazing and you're going to be moved, you're going to cry," Gyllenhaal enthused. "There's going to be something you've never felt before."

The onetime "Brokeback Mountain" co-stars then began talking over each other, spouting off various compliments.

"No, Jake's great. Jake's awesome," Hathaway said as Gyllenhaal echoed the warm fuzzy sentiments.

"She's so talented. She's at the top of her game. Everything about her is so special," he said.

"It's so nice to know that someone really has your back," she said.

"She's so beautiful right now," he said, which got Hathaway's attention.

"Oh, thank you," she said, turning to her co-star. "I think you're just really handsome!"

"Her body is gorgeous in the film," Gyllenhaal continued.

"Well, that's too far," Hathaway said.

Nicki Minaj Opens Up About Grandmother Who Raised Her In MTV Doc

MC tearfully recalls her late grandmother in 'My Time Now,' airing Sunday at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.

"Everything in Trinidad reminds me of my family that is no longer here," Nicki Minaj begins in a scene from her forthcoming MTV News documentary "My Time Now" (airing Sunday at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV). And for Minaj, recalling her late loved ones from the island nation overwhelms the typically freewheeling MC with emotion.

During the scene, the Young Money diva's coolly confident façade crumbles, and tears stream down her cheeks when a filmmaker asks her about her late grandmother, who took care of the lyricist before she emigrated to America. The "Right Thru Me" artist gazes intently at her interviewer as she struggles to maintain her game face, nodding faintly as she concedes her grandmother would be proud of her achievements and the woman she has become.

But as soon as the tears begin to roll, Minaj jumps to preserve her makeup — and her bold reputation — reaching for a mirror to fix her expertly applied maquillage. But, ultimately, she succumbs to the emotion and begins to weep harder, covering her face with her hot-pink manicured fingers.

The moment is a rare glimpse at the rising superstar's vulnerabilities that are typically obscured by her hard-hitting rhymes and zany-yet-sexed-up persona. In the film, cameras document Minaj's return to Trinidad for the first time in seven years, as she reconnects with family, lavishes loved ones with shopping sprees and navigates throngs of screaming fans. The accomplished MC breaks down the sacrifices her family had to make in order to forge a better life for the young Minaj in the U.S.

"A lot of times, when you're from the islands, your parents leave and then send for you because it's easier when they have established themselves; when they have a place to stay, when they have a job. I thought it was gonna be for a few days, it turned into two years without my mother," she says of living with relatives.

The "Your Love" hitmaker also opens up about leaving her native Trinidad to join her parents in New York to chase the American dream. Unfortunately for the starry-eyed young Minaj, her first impressions of life Stateside were nightmarish.

"I thought it was gonna be like a castle. Like white picket fence, like a fairy tale. I got off the plane and it was cold. I remember the smell. I could always remember the smell when I got out of the airport of the snow, and I had never seen snow," she says. "I remember the house. I remember that the furniture wasn't put down. It was, like, piled up on each other ,and I didn't understand why, 'cause I thought it was gonna look like a big castle."

Far from a castle, Minaj's home was rocked by conflict, which kept the Queens youngster on edge.

"I started hearing a lot of arguing, and I didn't know why. I was always very nervous, very afraid. So I knew that wasn't normal. My father would yell and curse a lot," she recalls.

The MC candidly reveals that her dad's drug abuse compromised the stability of the household.

"It was right in the crack era. We didn't know, but he fell victim to crack shortly after he moved to America," she says. "When you're on crack, you can't keep a job. And when you can't keep a job, you don't have money. And when you don't have money, you steal. And you steal from your family."

While surprise eliminations have made this one of the most talked-about "Dancing With the Stars" seasons yet, there weren't any real shockers on Monday night's (November 22) episode.

Front-runner Jennifer Grey continued her dominance, grabbing perfect 10s for both her performances. In fact, judge Bruno Tonioli told her he loved her paso doble so much, he wished he could give her an 11. For her freestyle, Grey and partner Derek Hough had a bit of fun with a send-up of her famous role in "Dirty Dancing." She started off the routine by holding a watermelon then shimmied to the Contours' "Do You Love Me (Now That I Can Dance)." The judges loved it; head judge Len Goodman said, "You're like a juggernaut ... heading for that mirror-ball trophy!" 60/60

The second-place finisher was Disney kid Kyle Massey, who did a freestyle hip-hop dance that earned him one of his highest scores, a 29. In his freestyle, he dressed like Will Smith in the title sequence of his 1990s sitcom "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air." He and his partner, Lacey Schwimmer, also performed the foxtrot for his second dance. "I dub you the Fresh Prince of 'Dancing With the Stars,' " judge Carrie Ann Inaba told him. 56/60

The last-place dancer was Bristol Palin, whose first dance was a freestyle during which she started off inside a jail cell. She redid a jive that judges thought didn't quite cut it earlier in the season. She and her partner Mark Ballas freestyled to "Cell Block Tango" from the Broadway musical "Chicago." The judges weren't impressed with her reinterpretation of the Fosse-choreographed dance. 52/60

Who are you rooting for to win it all during Tuesday night's finale? Let us know in the comments!

Christian Bale Talks 'Dark Knight Rises': 'We've Got To Up It'

Actor tells MTV News he's 'very excited, because if ['Batman' series director Christopher Nolan] maintains, this will be the last one.'

News about the third installment of Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale's "Batman" series has been slowly dripping out over the past few months. Nolan officially committed to direct in September, "Inception" actor Tom Hardy joined the cast in October, and a few weeks later, the title, "The Dark Knight Rises," was announced.

So, yes, we've been learning snippets of info here and there. All along the way, though, Bale himself hasn't learned much more than us. "Chris will let me know what I need to know when I need to know it," Bale told MTV News while promoting "The Fighter." "It's our fourth movie together. I probably know a little bit more than some other people out there, but I think most people would be surprised at how little I do know."

One thing Bale does know is that this will bring their "Batman" series to a close. That's what Nolan said back in March, and that's what has Bale looking forward to the "Dark Knight Rises" shoot.

"Very excited, because if Chris maintains, this will be the last one," Bale said, adding, "We've got to up it."

The production is set to kick off in New Orleans in April. That gives the 36-year-old Bale more than enough time to get into the mind-set of Bruce Wayne. Plus, after working together on two "Batman" flicks and 2006's "The Prestige," the pair know what to expect from each other.

"It just hasn't been necessary yet," Bale explained about not knowing very much about the upcoming film. "I know he'll give me plenty of time to prepare for whatever I need to, and I'll discover it. He's a pretty damn good filmmaker. I trust that he's going to come up with something wonderful."

HOLLYWOODMy Chemical Romance went to the brink and back to make their new album, Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys. So, as you can probably imagine, on Monday (November 22) — the day Killjoys hit stores — they were in the mood to celebrate.

And how did they go about doing that? By buying their album, of course.

"Me and Mikey [Way] went and bought it earlier today," guitarist Frank Iero laughed. "It's kind of a tradition."

And with their very own copies of the album in hand, MCR headed over to the House of Blues on Sunset Boulevard, where they'll throw a rather raucous album-release party — they set up a carnival and everything — and play a sold-out show for their fanatical MCRmy. (You can watch it too: My Chemical Romance's "Live From L.A.: Killjoys Make Some Noise" will stream live on MTV.com beginning at 10 p.m. ET.)

Outside the building, the mood was already electric, as fans lined up around the block to rush the stage. And inside, the mood was about the same: Guitar techs mashed out chords, stage hands hoisted MCR's massive "Killjoys" American flag to the rafters, and the guys in the band, well, they were practically buzzing with excitement. They've already tested Danger Days out on audiences in Europe and the U.K., but on Monday night, they'll debut the songs for fans here in the States. And they couldn't wait to get up on the stage and let it rip.

"Usually, there's an awkward period right before you release a new record ... but on this record, or at least these tours, there's been no awkwardness," Iero said. "It feels like the material has a place, and there's an innate feeling where it's like, 'Man, it feels like I've known this all along.' "

It's a feeling MCR haven't had in a while. They've made it through the hard part, and now, rejuvenated by a brand-new album and a renewed sense of purpose, they're ready to share that feeling with their fans.

"It really feels like freedom. I feel like a totally different individual up there, I feel like I'm really myself," frontman Gerard Way beamed. "I feel like I don't have a giant sandbag on my back. I feel like, it's like pulling a mask [off] and showing somebody who you really are. It's like getting rid of your secret identity."

My Chemical Romance's "Live From LA: Killjoys Make Some Noise" will stream live on MTV.com beginning at 10 p.m. ET.

Open the floodgates! It's Mega-Release Week, with Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Jay-Z, Ne-Yo, Ke$ha, My Chemical Romance and Lloyd Banks all dropping new albums. Stick with MTV News for everything you need to know about the brand-new music.

50 Cent Calls Nicki Minaj 'An Amazing Talent'

'She has a lane that's been closed that she just busted open on her own,' Fif tells MTV News of Pink Friday MC.

With a barrage of features to her name, Nicki Minaj had amassed a legion of fans long before she dropped her debut, Pink Friday, on Monday (November 22). Among those admirers is one of hip-hop's biggest stars: 50 Cent.

When MTV News visited the set of Jeremih's "Down on Me" video, which features 50, the rapper weighed in on Nicki's musical appeal and her rap lineage.

"She's the only female around, period," Fif said. "She has a lane that's been closed that she just busted open on her own, and she's an amazing talent. A lot of artists, I personally am not excited by, but her, particularly, she impressed me on that 'Bottoms Up' remix," he added, referring to Trey Songz's smash, one of a number of memorable Nicki cameos this year.

While exhorting the virtues of his fellow Queens native, 50 also pointed out that he "loves" Lil' Kim, Minaj's rival. Back in 2003, 50 collaborated with Lil' Kim on "Magic Stick," off her La Bella Mafia LP.

"Lil' Kim is dope as well," Jeremih added. "I think Nicki, it's not that many female lyricists out that can do what she does. She makes me want to ride to her — you can't ride to every female rapper. I think she makes it easy for us fellas to ride to. And I think she's sexy and has a personality like no other."

From the start of Minaj's meteoric rise, fans and critics, alike, have compared her to Lil' Kim. But Fif told us he also sees similarities between Nicki and another lady rapper, Foxy Brown.

"I understand why people make the comparison between her and Kim, because of the wigs, the hair," 50 said, drawing laughs from Jeremih. "But I kind of see similarities in her and Foxy's career. Foxy was in the Firm and down with Jay-Z, the way Nicki was in Young Money, and down with Gucci [Mane]. I see that the same way they kind of came in with the support of two crews, like Foxy did."

Although Foxy has said she applauds Minaj, a recent freestyle by Foxy over dancehall singer Gyptian's "Hold You" (which Minaj originally blistered), contains what sounds like a thinly veiled shot at the pink-wigged femcee.

Justin Bieber's New 'Never Say Never' Trailer Plays Up 3-D

In October, Justin Bieber debuted the first trailer for his February 3-D flick "Never Say Never." And on Monday (November 22), just one day after his big night at the AMAs, a new trailer for the flick hit the Internet.

The sneak peek opens with classical music playing as the screen reads, "This Valentine's Day," over an image of Bieber. Soon, the singer is spraying silly string as the screen reads, "See Bieber like never before." Then, Bieber throws popcorn at the camera — all tricks to play up the film being in 3-D.

Soon, a montage of Bieber as a kid flashes across the screen along with concert video and behind-the-scenes footage of the singer with various people in Bieber's camp sharing tidbits about the singer, including "He could really be huge, if he wanted" and "He's 16, and he's doing it all on his own."

At the end of the trailer, Bieber is seen learning about the cameras used to shoot his 3-D flick as he sticks out 3-D glasses and looks into a screen seeing what the 3-D will look like. "That's sick, right?" he says. "It looks like it's about to hit that guy in the head."

It was just announced that fans can catch a sneak-peek screening of the film February 9, two days before it officially hits theaters. They'll be surprised just to see I'm a regular person," he said. "I'm a regular teenage boy. I like girls, and I like to hang out with my friends. It's gonna be taking them into my world, but also like it's their world, 'cause it's just normal."

Producer Alex Da Kid might be relatively new to the industry, but the British hitmaker has already proven that he can strike gold when bringing together artists of different musical genres. With production credits on summertime scorchers like "Airplanes" (B.o.B and Hayley Williams) and "Love the Way You Lie" (Eminem and Rihanna), the 27-year-old music mind reveals he's now trying his hand with another duo: T.I. and Christina Aguilera.

While on the American Music Awards red carpet, Kid spoke to MTV News about "Castle Walls," the track he produced for the recently incarcerated rapper's forthcoming album, which features the pop star. Not only did the producer reveal that the song is set to be the next single off Tip's No Mercy, but he also gushed about how the song will grab a variety of listeners.

"It's going to be T.I.'s next single," he told MTV News about the collabo. "I love it. I think it's amazing. It's my sound, just kind of an evolution of that. I think it'll cater to a lot of different people."

A reported snippet of the track minus T.I. surfaced on the Internet a few weeks ago and finds Aguilera gently singing over a steady, mellow beat about the downfalls of loneliness: "Everyone thinks that I have it all/ But it's so empty living behind these castle walls (These castle walls)/ If I should tumble if I should fall/ Would anyone hear me screaming behind these castle walls?/ There's no one here at all, behind these castle walls."

"Castle Walls" isn't the only star-studded effort on the MC's new album. No Mercy will also feature appearances from Eminem, Kanye West, Chris Brown and The-Dream. The ATL rapper's collaboration with Em, "All She Wrote," leaked online last Tuesday.

Usher Most Admires Justin Bieber's 'Excitement And Innocence'

Bieber's mentor tells MTV News the teen sensation has 'so much more in store for the future.'

With so much accomplished in 2010, Justin Bieber has certainly set the bar high for 2011. But the teen singer is already gearing up for next year. Bieber will not only release his much-anticipated 3-D flick, "Never Say Never", but he has also teased that he'd like to release an album of all-new material sometime later next year.

His mentor, Usher, thinks that at this point, the sky's the limit.

"As far as music and entertainment, that's the beginning," Usher told MTV News at Sunday's AMAs, where Bieber performed and took home four awards.

"There's so much more in store for the future, or at least there's a ton of things we can do and will, and with the support of his fans who will continue to just grow and grow and grow."

At 16, Bieber has accomplished what few manage with many more years in the music business, but Usher said he wants to ensure that Bieber doesn't stop enjoying it all as his popularity continues to grow and his schedule gets busier.

Asked what he admires most about Justin, Usher said, "His excitement and innocence in it. And I don't mean that in a light way because I think that he's absolutely enjoying every moment of it, as any young man his age would, but in a different way because [of] the hard work that has gone in and led to the dream that has become a reality. And every time you have an opportunity do something incredible, I tell him to do his best and be conscious that what you're doing today should last forever and eternity."

Ever since "Glee" guest star Darren Criss warbled Katy Perry's track "Teenage Dream" on the series' November 9 episode "Never Been Kissed," he and Perry have been directing enthusiastic accolades at one another through the press. The pair finally had the first in-person meeting of their "mutual admiration society" at Sunday's American Music Awards, and Criss left singing Perry's praises once again.

"[I met Perry] very, very quickly," Criss told MTV News while walking the red carpet at Rolling Stone's post-AMA party. "It was cool. She's very sweet."

Following Criss' debut on the Fox musical series earlier this month, Perry shared her compliments via Twitter, writing, "Oh...My...Gosh... this just brought a sweet tear to my eye! Teenage Dream on GLEE makes my heart go WEEEEE!" She later told "Access Hollywood," "He's amazing! I love when any of my songs are remixed or interpreted differently. I just love that. I really welcome a creative mind to anything."

Criss was flattered by Perry's praise, telling MTV News last week the feelings were indeed mutual. "Katy makes my heart 'go weeeee,' " he said.

Criss has been quick to credit Perry and the track's other writers and producers — Dr. Luke, Ben Levin, Bonnie McKee and Max Martin — with the single's success (it reached #1 on the digital downloads chart last week, a first for a "Glee" single).

"I'm forever in [Katy's] debt, basically," Criss said. "She's been very supportive about the whole thing. She's a cool chick, and I'm a big fan."

The Situation, Muse, More Rave About Justin Bieber At The AMAs

'You know what? Bieber's doing his thing,' 'Jersey Shore' star tells MTV News.

After Justin Bieber took home four trophies at the American Music Awards, including Artist of the Year, it was pretty clear that the music industry had caught Bieber Fever. And when MTV News caught up with some of the night's winners, nominees and attendees they all admitted that Bieber is the hottest guy in the game right now.

"I just think it's just insane kids are just Justin Bieber in-fevered," Taio Cruz joked to MTV News on the AMA red carpet. "And they love him, but they love us all, though."

Producer and songwriter Sean Garrett said Bieber is winning the guys over because he's won so many of the ladies over. "He just kind of came out of nowhere," Garrett said of Bieber. "He's excited. He's the youngest in charge, and he's definitely got the ladies."

Muse drummer Dom Howard confessed that, while Bieber is not a boy, not yet a man, he's still got that something. "Tonight he's won all the awards even though he's not quite a man yet," Howard said. "Boy of the year!"

Similarly, "Jersey Shore" star Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino said Bieber was the highlight of the show, thanks to his performance of "Pray." "You know what? Bieber's doing his thing," Sitch said.

For crooner Michael Bublé, it was about who was selling more — which he says is probably the both of them. "I'm better than everyone else, and also I'm humble and good-looking and smart and rich and humble, but really humble," he joked. "I don't know [who sells more]. I think it's probably pretty close."

'Cowboys & Aliens' Director Jon Favreau Offers Trailer Play-By-Play

Posted: 22 Nov 2010 01:39 AM PST

Favreau sits down with MTV News to talk about opening scene, villainous Harrison Ford and a 'mistake' fans found in the sneak peek.

"Iron Man" director Jon Favreau sure knows how to cut a trailer. Going back to his sneak peek for the first "Iron Man" — which brought down the house at that year's San Diego Comic-Con — to the debut of the highly anticipated "Cowboys & Aliens" trailer last week, Favreau seems to be an expert at getting fans into a frenzy.

Due in large part to the response from the trailer, and our own excitement for Favreau's upcoming flick, MTV News caught up with the man himself at his editing bay in Santa Monica, California, for a play-by-play look at his titillating teaser.

"This is new for me," Favreau said of commenting on his trailer. "I'm already doing a commentary track on a [trailer]. I'm in the middle of [editing] my director's cut."

Beginning with the first shot — in which a rough-and-tumble Daniel Craig wakes with a start to discover a mysterious metal band on his arm — Favreau addressed the challenge of melding two genres: Western and sci-fi.

"When you're doing a mash-up of two genres, if you play with either of them tongue-in-cheek, the combo is not going to be what's special," he said. "It allowed us to play Western pretty dead straight."

Also, that opening shot will likely be the film's opening sequence too. "It's the first shot — I'm in my director's cut, but right now, this is essentially how the movie starts," Favreau revealed, adding that the credit for that opening goes to executive producer Steven Spielberg. "The writers told me when Spielberg was developing the script, this was one of his big ideas, this [opening] image."

Another arresting image in the teaser is iconic actor Harrison Ford looking not-so-Harrison-Ford-like but rather grizzly and villainous. Favreau explained that he wants fans to see another side of their favorite actor, with shades of Han Solo and Indiana Jones.

"When Harrison comes into the movie, how do you separate him from everything he's done? How do you present him in a way that I, as a fan, would want to see him?" Favreau said of the challenge in having Ford portray a seemingly villainous character. "He was always this bastard with a big heart; that's the archetype I like for him.

"Everybody's got kind of a rough edge," Favreau added. "This is a genre film."

One more aspect to touch on, via hundreds of comments on the Internet, is a certain shot in which fans claimed that they could see a wire pulling an actor into the air; Favreau said that was no accident.

"When you see more about the way the aliens work, there is a device that they abduct people with that that is a practical element of," he explained. "It's not a mistake — we didn't miss the paint-out — but thanks to the people playing at home. If you could catch that, I'm very proud."

Favreau ended his first trailer play-by-play with a good-natured "thank you" to all the fans.

"We're working hard. Thanks to all of you for putting wind in our sails," he said. "I'm glad you liked what we put out there."

Kanye West's <i>My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy</i>: A Track-By-Track Guide

Posted: 22 Nov 2010 08:11 AM PST

Check out an in-depth examination of Yeezy's new masterwork.
By Jayson Rodriguez

Kanye West's new album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, is a return to form of sorts for the mercurial star on the most basic of levels — as a producer and an MC — following a departure with his last project, 2008's 808s & Heartbreak, a soul-baring effort soaked in personal pain and filtered through AutoTune.

With My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, the Chicago artist injects who he once was — a hyperactive musician, moody celebrity and gifted rapper — with the imprints of who he has become after his seclusion and re-emergence following the infamous Taylor Swift incident: an unwavering talent tarnished by controversy but resurgent in his refusal to be defined by anything other than himself.

The set, Kanye's fifth studio album, is an arrogant, remorseful, refreshing probe of perhaps the most complicated figure in pop culture today. The fact that West is the one examining himself makes it all the more brilliant and transparent.

Here, MTV News delivers song-by-song crib notes to 'Ye's deep dive into his psyche.

1. "Dark Fantasy"

On the leadoff number, West reasserts the lyrical acumen he displayed on his first three albums but doesn't surrender the demonstrative narrative he uncorked on 808s & Heartbreak. Over the robust production of No I.D., Mike Dean and the RZA, which includes a driving organ, tickling keys and feathery choir, West bridges the storyline from his 2009 VMAs incident to his resilient return. And like that, he's off.

Illuminating Rhymes: "The plan was to drink until the pain over, but what's worse the pain or the hangover?"

2. "Gorgeous" (featuring Kid Cudi and Raekwon)

Yeezy is as boastful as he's ever been on "Gorgeous," but while his lyrics are razor sharp, the production here is softer, resulting in a melodic finger wag to his naysayers rather than searing jabs.

Illuminating Rhymes: "But this pimp is at the top of Mount Olympus/ Ready for the world's games/ This is my Olympics/ We make 'em say 'ho' cause the game is so pimpish/ Choke a 'South Park' writer with a fish stick."

3. "Power"

The track that started 'Ye's comeback is as stirring months later here as it was when it first leaked to the Web. "Power" is one of the few previously released gems that the producer didn't tweak for the album version. The record is unflinching, uncompromising, and undoubtedly 'Ye's mantra for more than just the current year.

Illuminating Rhymes: "I just needed time alone with my own thoughts, got treasures in my mind/ But couldn't open up my vaults ... Reality is catching up with me/ Taking my inner child/ I'm fighting for custody."

4. "All of the Lights (Interlude)"/ 5. "All of the Lights"

A smattering of a song with upward of 10 additional singers, "All of the Lights" is as fearless a track as West has ever made. The rapper is hardly the most present vocalist on this percolating storytelling number, sharing the spotlight with Rihanna, among others. But as a producer he's front and center — his orchestration is the driving force behind this sonic train.

Illuminating Rhymes: "Restraining order, can't see my daughter/ Her mother, brother, grandmother hate me in that order."

6. "Monster" (featuring Rick Ross, Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj and Bon Iver)

A booming collaboration where each MC pushes the other beyond the brink of one-upmanship until Minaj obliterates the track with a hodgepodge of styling — from her flow to her vocal inflection and varied tonal cadences.

Illuminating Rhymes: "Yeah, I'm in that Tonka the color of Willy Wonka/ You could be the king but watch the queen conquer."

7. "So Appalled" (featuring Jay-Z, Pusha T, CyHi the Prynce, Swizz Beatz and the RZA)

This all-star cipher is a backpackers dream as 'Ye's G.O.O.D. Music soldiers fire away with resolve. But the Brooklyn icon, Jay-Z, steals the show with an edgy verse dismissing his critics with a 16 that's as pushy as a New Yorker during rush hour. Please, Hammer, stop replying.

Illuminating Rhymes: "I'm so appalled, I might buy the mall/ Just to show niggas how much I have in store."

8. "Devil in a New Dress" (featuring Rick Ross)

West's breezy G.O.O.D. Fridays release gets a wintertime tune-up with Ross riding shotgun. The Miami Don's majestic contribution comes with a revamped breakdown setting up his slick boats. Still, Yeezy's verse holds up over the Boss's even with the refinement.

Illuminating Rhymes: "How she gonna wake up and not love me no more/ I thought I was the a--hole, I guess it's rubbing off."

9. "Runaway" (featuring Pusha T)

The emotional centerpiece of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, "Runaway" gets a face-lift from the radio version with West returning the MP samples he blasted onto the track during his memorable 2010 MTV Video Music Awards performance. Pusha's sneering guest spot remains the same, but in addition to the sampled tics that begin the track, the Clipse MC's verse is sandwiched on the back end with an elongated outro.

Illuminating Rhymes: "Never was much of a romantic, I could never take the intimacy/ And I know I did damage, 'cause the look in your eyes is killing me."

10. "Hell of a Life"

A brooding number with synth-heavy production and frenetic keys strokes. Here, West is all bravado in his hedonistic pursuits.

Illuminating Rhymes: "One day I'm gonna marry a porn star/ We'll have a big-ass crib and a long yard."

11. "Blame Game" (featuring John Legend)

The most melancholy track on the album, "Blame Game" finds West turning inward as he pensively dissects a deteriorating relationship — doling out blame between himself and his lady before ultimately assigning fault to their fading connection.

Illuminating Rhymes: "I know that you were somewhere doing your thing/ And when the phone called, it just rang and rang/ You ain't pick up but the phone accidentally called me back and I heard the whole thing."

12. "Lost in the World" (featuring Bon Iver)/ 13. "Who Will Survive in America"

The denouement of Fantasy is a rollicking effort, thundering in its production and chock-full of proclamations from West that lead to more questions than answers after an hour of listening. The track caps off an exhilarating audio experience that's sonically groundbreaking and lyrically thrilling. The final selection, a Gil Scott-Heron spoken-word excerpt, slowly punctuates the artful track with a stunning statement that seeks to leave West's fantasy ride open for more life to be lived rather than bringing it to a conclusion.

Illuminating Rhymes: "You're my devil, you're my angel/ You're my heaven, you're my hell/ You're my now, you're my forever/ You're my freedom, you're my jail/ You're my lies, you're my truth/ You're my war, you're my truce/ You're my question, you're my proof/ You're my stress, you're my masseuse."
