Rihanna isn't afraid to share the limelight on her new album, Loud. She appears with everyone from Drake to Eminem to Nicki Minaj. But, one artist fans might be surprised to see make a cameo on the album is Avril Lavigne. Rih samples the singer's yodel from her 2002 ballad "I'm With You" on her party anthem "Cheers (Drink to That)."

"I love that song ['Cheers']. That is one of my favorite songs on the album. It makes you feel like celebrating," she tells MTV News about the song. "It gives you a great feeling inside like you want to go out and have a drink. ... People can't wait for the weekend."

Sure, Rihanna has a busy schedule that doesn't really warrant her having the weekend off, but she says she still loves them. "I work all weekend, but I still can't wait. I still get excited about it being Friday, even though I'm not getting the weekend off," she explains.

"I got to be up at 5 a.m. on Saturday anyway. I just like the fact that it's Friday. It's just something that became a habit, so you get that feeling Friday night [and] it doesn't matter what time you have to wake up on Saturday. You want to get excited about the weekend, you want to go out and have a drink with your girls, who have the weekend off."

On "Cheers," Rih samples Lavigne, and she explains why they didn't just have the Canadian pop singer come in and re-record the vocal for the song. "I asked the same thing, but when I heard the track, it was already embedded in the music, so the producers already had it that way," she explains. "But it wouldn't have made a difference. It would have sounded the same. But I'm just glad that we could use her sample, because it became such a huge part of the instrumental that if it were not to be in the song, it would change the whole vibe of the song."

'Glee' Bully 'Keeps The Mask On,' Max Adler Says

'He's definitely not ready to come out yet,' actor says of his character, who kissed Kurt last week.

For fans still reeling from last week's surprise kiss between Kurt and Karovsky on "Glee" and eager to learn more about what's going down with the conflicted character's upcoming story line, actor Max Adler told MTV News there's a rough road ahead.

"[This] week [was] a little bit more minor," Adler said of his character's arc. "The week after that, November 23, the week of Thanksgiving is a pretty big one for Karovsky. I can't tell you too much, but I can tell you that his dad gets involved. His dad is called in, played by Daniel Roebuck, [who is] a great actor, a great guy. It all comes to a head."

"It" meaning Karovsky's constant bullying and increased physical violence against Kurt — which, according to Adler, isn't going to subside anytime soon.

"He keeps the mask on. He's definitely not ready to come out yet," Adler said of his character keeping his sexuality a secret. "[The situation] gets more serious, so watch and see what happens."

Outside of the show, the actor has become involved in supporting anti-bullying campaigns and posted his own video in conjunction with the "It Gets Better" project. His video offers insight into the minds of bullies and encourages those who are being bullied to seek help, no matter what.

"You do not deserve to be bullied at all," he tells young people in the clip. "I'll tell you a little secret: Most bullies are extremely insecure and want to knock you down a peg to feel better about themselves. So being who you are is what's awesome. It's what makes you special, interesting, fun to talk to, desirable."

What do you hope happens with Karovsky on "Glee"? Let us know in the comments!

B.o.B's 'Don't Let Me Fall' Video Premieres

B.o.B's new video for "Don't Let Me Fall," the fourth clip from the Atlanta rapper's debut LP, B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray, premiered midnight Tuesday (November 16) on MTV.com.

The video was directed by Ethan Lander, who also manned the lens for B.o.B's "Nothin' on You," and was shot in downtown Denver and at Red Rocks Park and Ampitheatre. The clip weaves in footage from B.o.B's humble beginnings and follows him as he rises up the ranks in rap's food chain.

Supporters, from manager TJ Chapman to T.I., who executive-produced B.o.B's debut LP and released it on his Grand Hustle imprint, are also included in the footage. It's appropriate, considering the song is a "thank you" of sorts to those who've supported him. The lyrics find B.o.B singing, "Well it was just a dream, just a moment ago/ I was up so high, lookin' down at the sky, don't let me fall/ I was shooting for stars on a Saturday night/ They say, 'What goes up must come down'/ But don't let me fall."

The video opens with B.o.B sitting upright on a bench, which seems to be lying on the floor. The world is moving around him, as if he's fallen. Throughout the video, the aforementioned early clips play on an old tube television sitting next to the rapper. B.o.B recites his lines in performance shots set against the rocky terrain of Red Rocks Park and in the open space of the amphitheater. Later, he's shown hanging sideways from a parking meter on the sidewalk. People walking by fall around him, but he's unable to get up on his own.

In the final verse, a band joins him, and they're all lying horizontally on the sidewalk, playing the song with B.o.B strumming a guitar. At the end of the video, he stands upright of his own accord and walks away.

Last month, the MTV News Hip-Hop Brain Trust voted B.o.B. the #9 Hottest MC in the Game.

Jay-Z's 'Decoded': The Five Most Revealing Excerpts

Jay touches on miscarriage, his assault charge, Bono and more in the memoir/ lyrical breakdown.
By Hillary Crosley and Rahman Dukes

On Tuesday (November 16), Jay-Z released his book "Decoded," explaining the history behind some of his most infamous lines. MTV News took a peek at the collection and selected a few topics and metaphors that surprised even us, the most avid of Hov followers:

Jay-Z on Bono
Jay-Z's larger-than-life influence has reached far beyond the realm of hip-hop. The MC has been closely affiliated with some of pop music's biggest entertainers, including Linkin Park, Coldplay's Chris Martin and U2 frontman Bono. Early in "Decoded," Jay elaborated on his relationship with Bono and his first impressions of the singer.

"The writer had asked me about the U2 record that was about to be released and I said something about the kind of pressure a group like that must be under just to meet their own standard. Bono told me that my quote had really gotten to him. In fact, he said it got him a little anxious. He decided to go back to the studio even though the album was already done and keep reworking it till he thought it was as good as it could possibly be."

Jay-Z on MC Hammer
Several weeks ago, Jay unintentionally offended MC Hammer on Kanye West's "So Appalled." "I lost 30 mill so I spent another 30/ 'Cause unlike Hammer, 30 mill can't hurt me," Jay spits on the track.

Hammer's response included a music video that depicted Hov as a devil worshiper being chased through a forest by Satan himself. Jay responded to the barrage of disses saying that Hammer might regret his actions after he paid homage to him in his book. Well, here's what he had to say in "Decoded."

"I remember when Hammer was the biggest star in the world, in the eighties. There were a lot of people who clowned him because of the big pants and the dancing, like he was the rapper from Disney World. But Hammer was from East Oakland. Even when he was spinning around with his pants billowing all around him, you could see in his eyes that this was still a n---a from the hood. So when he was in Forbes magazine with eight figures after his name, big pants and all, I was impressed. It was a huge moment for hip-hop. A few years later, Hammer was filing for bankruptcy."

Jay-Z on his assault charge
In another section of "Decoded," Jay highlights various rappers who have endured run-ins with the law following their success. But before their fame, these MCs barely earned a traffic ticket. And for a guy who transported enough drugs to make B.M.F.'s Big Meech blush without any police drama, Jay nearly saw his career derailed after a violent assault. The incident swirled around the release of his prized Vol. 3 ... Life and Times of S. Carter album, which leaked a month early.

"People kept giving me the same name as the source of the bootlegging. It was someone I knew, someone I never would have suspected. One night I went to Q-Tip's solo album release party and at some point in the night, I ran into the guy everyone's been telling me is behind the bootleg. So I approached him. When I told him what I suspected, to my surprise, he got real loud with me right there in the middle of the club. It was strange. We separated and I went over to the bar. I was sitting there like, 'No the f--- this n---a did not ... " I was talking to people, but I was really talking to myself out loud, just in a state of shock. Before I even realized what I was doing, I headed back over to him, but this time I was blacking out with anger. The next thing I knew, all hell had broken loose in the club. That night the guy went straight to the police and I was charged with assault."

Jay-Z on a girlfriend's miscarriage
In part four of "Decoded," Jay explains a line from "This Can't Be Life" featuring Beanie Sigel and Geto Boys icon Scarface. In the lyric, Hov says, "Baby came out stillborn, still I gotta move on" which is a direct contradiction to the way the MC handles his personal life now. Helicopters could hardly get a shot of his and Beyoncé's wedding, however, in that track, Jay-Z discusses one of the hardest things a couple can experience.

"This refers to something that happened to me around that time, 1994, when my girl of five years got pregnant and lost the baby in a miscarriage. Now, obviously, miscarriages happen everywhere, to anyone, but the point is that on top of the especially acute paranoia and disappointment and exhaustion I'm feeling from the street life, friends getting shot, your family being broke, I have to deal with the everyday tragedies that stalk everyone. And when that hits you, sometimes it becomes clear that you have to get out, that this really can't be life, it has to be more."

Jay-Z on Slick Rick
The British MC was one of the cornerstones of Def Jam Records' early years and left quite an impression on hip-hop's following generations. In the "Come and Get Me" section of "Decoded," Jay delves into why Slick was so talented, juxtaposed with Texas MC Scarface. Both icons use emotion in their lyrics: Rick through the punch line of a lingering joke, and 'Face through a brash and open delivery.

"Slick Rick also wrote some of the first rap songs that were genuinely sad — which sounds like a strange thing to say. ... Slick Rick was too much of an artist to come out with straight-up tearjerkers, but like all great comics he knew how to hide deeper emotions between the punch lines, emotions like regret and loss, the kind of feelings that could make you pause even while you were speeding down the New Jersey turnpike on the way to your hustling spot. ... Slick Rick taught me that not only can rap be emotionally expressive, it can even express those feelings that you can't really name — which was important for me, and for lots of kids like me, who couldn't always find the language to make sense of our feelings."

'Green Lantern' Trailer, Shot By Shot

Get a sneak peek of Ryan Reynolds in all his emerald glory — not to mention the baddies he's up against.
By Brian Warmoth

Ryan Reynolds in the "Green Lantern" trailer
Photo: Warner Bros.

In just two and a half minutes, the first "Green Lantern" trailer introduces exactly what kind of superhero Ryan Reynolds is going to portray onscreen, with "Gossip Girl" leading lady Blake Lively staring him down the whole way.

In the sneak peek, Hal Jordan (Reynolds) gets dressed, gets rid of his pants and slips on his ring to get redressed in the famous emerald uniform that signifies his new status in the Green Lantern Corps. Witty banter, the Planet Oa, Mark Strong as Sinestro and Peter Sarsgaard as Hector Hammond all make appearances in the series of clips, which leave no doubt that director Martin Campbell has set out to attack the world of the Lanterns in epic fashion.

0:00-0:14: Reynolds wastes no time hiding his superhero physique and gets a rude awakening from his first nemesis — the alarm clock. He also shows how gentlemanly Jordan is in this film by rushing out the door and offering tap water to the damsel he's leaving behind in his bed.

0:00-0:24: Jordan and Carol Ferris (Lively) establish the tension they're taking with them into the air with a quick spat about his tardiness before a flight. This provides the context for Reynolds' most memorable "Green Lantern" line yet: "Let's get these pants off and fly some planes."

0:25-0:35: We get to see Hal in his element flying a jet. He thinks to himself that anything feels possible; of course, that comes just as he's forced to eject.

0:41-0:48: Hal Ponders aloud that there's something good waiting for him over the horizon, and that thought immediately materializes Abin Sur, who proceeds to crash into the Earth. Green Lantern mythos junkies all know that this leads to the passing of the ring.

0:55-1:20: Abin Sur shows his face briefly before the WB logo reminds us all who's making this film. It generously passes the spotlight back to Reynolds, however, as Sur explains the responsibility Jordan now has to protect the universe.

1:23-1:28: Our first shot of Oa appears, as does Sinestro, as the glimpse of Green Lantern society illustrates what Hal's going to be getting himself into.

1:30-1:40: A few humbling moments featuring Hal Jordan getting roughed up contrast with a moment of triumph as he summons a big green fist to lay down some justice.

1:41-1:50: Dr. Hector Hammond debuts, looking as normal as you're going to see him for the remainder of the trailer. Hal flies around in space briefly, and his fellow Lantern, Kilowog, gets a quick growl in to remind everyone who you don't talk back to if you serve in the Green Lantern Corps.

1:50-1:54: Dr. Hammond shows up again looking way uglier than before. Jordan gets the drop on him, but Hammond's head starts getting awfully large.

1:55-2:05: Carol tells Hal that he has the ability to overcome fear. This line is immediately followed by a falling helicopter, screaming and Dr. Hammond getting even more veiny and Star Trek alien-looking than he was seconds earlier.

2:04-2:18: Reynolds summons his inner Van Wilder for a moment to expose himself (in costume) to his friend Thomas Kalmaku (Taika Waititi). Kalmaku gets a little choked up, and Hal simply responds, "I know, right?!" The Green Lantern emblem makes another appearance as Hal says he wants to go look for trouble.

2:19-2:25: The final seconds close with Hal flying through space full-throttle with the Green Lantern oath being recited in the background. It's just a trailer, though, so we only get to hear "In brightest day, in darkest night" before everything goes black and the year 2011 slides into view to let us all know when this movie comes out.

T.I., Eminem Team Up For 'All She Wrote'

T.I. and Eminem have teamed up once again, this time for "All She Wrote," which leaked online Tuesday (November 16). The song is from T.I.'s upcoming album, No Mercy, due in stores December 7.

T.I. recently began an 11-month stint in an Arkansas prison for parole violations. His problems with the law have left him with a fair share of critics, and "All She Wrote" takes a shot back at them. Witness the song's hook: "I don't really care what you call me, just as long as you don't call me broke/ I bet they knew as soon as they saw me, good night it's over with that's all she wrote/ Streets like cold Chicago, ain't nothing new, I seen it all before/ But still I ball like no tomorrow, good night it's over with that's all she wrote."

Of No Mercy, T.I. wrote on his website: "This album represents some of my best work inspired by my most recent best and worst life experiences ... I've been taking stock of myself and digesting everyone's comments and criticisms. Now it's my turn to express myself and take you into my mind."

The production on "All She Wrote" is a mellow affair, guitar strums over steady staccato 808s. It allows both artists adequate space to let their voices take center stage.

Speculatively, in the first verse, T.I. addresses former Grand Hustle member Alfamega, who the Smoking Gun revealed last year was a DEA informant. T.I. raps, "Others sworn under oath or vanished left completely scorned/ You tell lies, get cut n---a, kick rocks/ You never did blend in with the big shots."

Eminem's verses, however, deal more with the opposite sex: "I rather slip and fall in sh-- than fall in love with you/ Before I f---ing tie a knot, I'll tie you in one/ Bitch you think this is a Nintendo game, how f---ing dumb is you/ I'll give you some lumps before I split some lump sums with you."

No Mercy, T.I.'s seventh LP and first release since 2008's double-platinum Paper Trail, also will feature appearances from Kanye West, Chris Brown, The-Dream and Christina Aguilera. Production will be handled by Dr. Luke ("Magic," "Right Round"), Danja ("My Love," "Knock You Down") and Jim Jonsin ("Whatever You Like," "Lollipop"), among others.

T.I. and Eminem last officially collaborated on T.I.'s 2007 album T.I. vs. T.I.P. on the track "Touchdown."

Which of T.I.'s No Mercy collaborations are you most excited to hear? Tell us in the comments below!

Emma Watson Recalls Nearly Quitting 'Harry Potter'

'I would have been public enemy #1,' 'Deathly Hallows' star says of backlash if she'd quit to pursue college.

Could someone other than Emma Watson have played Hermione Granger? The mere thought likely gives devoted "Potter"-philes heart palpitations, but it became a distinct possibility when the actress' contract came up for renewal in 2006 during production on "The Order of the Phoenix."

Watson was firmly committed to continuing her education — not at Hogwarts but in the real world — and the schedule for the forthcoming "Potter" flicks simply wouldn't allow her to pursue her studies. Dropping out of the franchise became a distinct possibility, as devastating to the fan community as that would have been.

"I would have been public enemy #1, I think, if I hadn't continued," Watson recently told MTV News. "I did think about that.

"I always try and make decisions in my life based on what's right for me and I just try and be true to myself," she added. "It was mainly to do with scheduling and I had a real fight on my hands to ensure that I was able to go to university and I was able to sit my A-levels, because the schedule they handed to me didn't really allow for any of that and I just wasn't prepared to let it go."

From '06 into the next year, rumors abounded that she would in fact drop out, forcing Warner Bros. to recast Hermione. But by the time filming on "Half-Blood Prince" kicked off in fall '07, Watson was back on set. Why? The studio reconfigured the entire shoot.

"They essentially moved the 'Harry Potter' film schedule around my exam dates, which was amazing," she told us. "It all worked out."

Watson ended up enrolling at Brown University in Rhode Island and was subsequently able to shoot the two-part finale of "Deathly Hallows."

"I feel very lucky," she said. "Warner Bros. has been very supportive of me keeping this education thing going. I'm very grateful."

Can you imagine another actress playing Hermione in the "Potter" franchise? Tell us your thoughts in the comments!

Jay-Z Says 'Kanye Spoke What Everyone Felt' During Hurricane Katrina

Jay tells NPR he finds it 'strange' the lowest point of George W. Bush's presidency was 'somebody talking about him.'

Jay-Z continued to promote his new book, "Decoded," on Tuesday (November 16) with an interview on NPR's "Fresh Air," where he addressed many topics, including former President George W. Bush's recent comments about Jay's good friend Kanye West.

Bush's admission that West's Hurricane Katrina rant was the low point of his presidency struck Jay-Z as odd. "First, I find it strange, like everyone else should, that one of his lowest points was somebody talking about him," Jay-Z said of Kanye's infamous "George Bush doesn't care about black people" comment. "He's the president. People should insult him a lot. That's part of the job description."

He went on to reiterate an excerpt from "Decoded" in which he talks about how the mishandling of the rescue/relief efforts after Hurricane Katrina affected him.

"It didn't feel like a natural disaster; it felt like it was happening directly to blacks, and immediately those images of people in suits getting beaten, sprayed with hoses, beaten on the bridge at Selma, all these emotions were going on inside of us," Jay said. "Kanye really spoke what everyone else felt."

The NPR interviewer also asked Jay for his evaluation of President Obama's work thus far, and he said Bush's legacy — "the worst eight years of our life" — was a big obstacle for Obama to overcome.

"I think he's had so many challenges," he said. "I applaud his efforts and where he's going. Of course, it's not 100 percent, but you have to take into context what he inherited and what he's working with. He's in the negative, and if you think he can fix eight years of damage in two years, I don't know if that's realistic."

Daniel Radcliffe Thinks 'Twilight' Spoof Won't Bother Robert Pattinson

'You cannot be in a film as big as either "Potter" or "Twilight" and not have a pretty good sense of humor about yourself,' he tells MTV News of 'Simpsons' cameo.

Daniel Radcliffe has found Robert Pattinson's rise to fame instructive. "I have no concept of what "Potter" looks like to the rest of the world, because I'm so involved in it," Radcliffe once told us. "So to watch "Twilight" kind of explode globally had been fascinating."

Radcliffe also finds RPattz — his onetime "Potter" co-star — an appropriate target for some good-natured mockery. Earlier this month, the 21-year-old actor voiced a vampire character on "The Simpsons," a pasty-faced heartthrob named Edmund directly inspired by Pattinson's Twi-hunk Edward. Radcliffe hasn't yet heard from his pal about the episode, but he's pretty sure Rob didn't mind the parody.

"You cannot be in a film as big as either "Potter" or "Twilight" and not have a pretty good sense of humor about yourself," Radcliffe told us.

In the Halloween-themed episode, young Lisa Simpson falls for Radcliffe's character after he saves her from an out-of-control school bus, a direct reference to the way in which Edward and Bella connect in "Twilight." "I love your pallor," Lisa coos.

Radcliffe himself has found himself a "Simpsons" target in the past, with references ranging from a Homer Simpson pet pig named Harry Plopper to a religious-minded character noting Potter and his wizard pals are going to hell. "South Park," too, has zinged "Potter": During a send-up of "The Lord of the Rings," one character mocks a group of kids for dressing up like the Hogwarts crew. Radcliffe thinks it's all hilarious, and he's sure RPattz does too.

"I find it all so cool and funny and flattering," he said. "I'm sure Rob's got a sense of humor about [it].

"I'm sure I'll be getting a bouquet of flowers," he added.

Eva Longoria And Tony Parker Not Divorcing

Rep for 'Desperate Housewives' star denies Parker filed divorce papers, after gossip site reports a split.
By Kara Warner

Initial reports that celeb couple Eva Longoria and Tony Parker are headed for divorce have turned out to be a false alarm.

Gossip site TMZ first reported on Tuesday (November 16) that San Antonio Spurs player Parker filed for divorce at a Texas courthouse Monday. The site claimed two clerks at the Bexar County Courthouse confirmed papers were filed and sealed by a family law judge. But about an hour later, TMZ took down the story and replaced it with a statement from Longoria's rep saying that no such case had been filed and that Parker does not have a divorce lawyer.

Longoria's rep also confirmed to MTV News that Parker has not filed for divorce.

TMZ now reports that a different clerk at the Texas courthouse claims she is in charge of sealed cases and that no such case crossed her desk.

Longoria, 35, and Parker, 28, met in November 2004 and were engaged in November 2006. They exchanged vows during a small civil service and again, a day later, on July 7, 2007, at Chateau of Vaux le Vicomte, a 17th-century castle on the outskirts of Paris.

Even in light of a spate of celebrity splits, the news of Parker and Longoria's split was surprising as the couple is frequently photographed cuddling and generally appearing happy together. Just last month, Longoria stopped by the "Ellen" show, where she told host Ellen DeGeneres that Parker surprises her every year for their anniversary and that this year he took her to Croatia. Mid-story, Longoria seemed to sense that DeGeneres might be planning one of her signature "scares," and when the actress turned around, Parker was standing on set. He ran out and gave her a hug and kiss in front of the audience.

No word on how or why the rumor surfaced, but if the couple's public interactions are any indication, the report seemed to come from nowhere.

Ke$ha is perhaps as well-known for her unusually spelled name as her hard party-girl lyrics and sexy-grunge attire. And thankfully, she seems to have quite a sense of humor about the former. The pop star teamed up with comedy video website Funny or Die to tell "The Story of the $."

In somber, TV documentary tones and dressed in all black, Ke$ha tells the traumatic story of a childhood birthday party at a fast food pizza chain. "I used to be Kesha with an S, instead of a dollar sign, and then one year I had my birthday party at Shakey's Pizza," she says, almost shedding tears. "On the sign, the big sign where they write 'Happy birthday,' they replaced the S with a dollar sign."

After a dramatic reenactment of the sign, the video then turns to Joe Trundle, an employee at the pizza joint, who recalls the day they didn't have any more S letters to hang up. "Yeah, I remember that day," he confesses. "We had a special going on sausage, salami and sundried tomatoes pizza so we were just all out of S's."

Fans get a glimpse inside of Ke$ha's real career aspirations as she reveals, "It ruined my life. I wanted to be a CPA, but you know who H&R Block doesn't hire? People with dollar signs in their name. I pretty much had to be a pop star."

The singer appears relieved when the interviewer brings her back to the same Shakey's Pizza location, in hopes of restoring her proper spelling. But she's met with another unpleasant surprise when the sign shows "KESH4."

"We have an artichoke and anchovy pizza today, so we ran out of A's," the employee tells a heartbroken Ke$ha. After lashing out at Trundle, "Tik Tok," begins to play as the shattered the singer forever known for her dollar sign name gets back into her black limo.

Paramore's 'Playing God' Video: Coming Home, Coming Full Circle

New clip was shot at Hayley Williams' house in Franklin, Tennessee.
By James Montgomery

Paramore's Brand New Eyes was released nearly 14 months ago, spawned something like five singles, sent the band around the world and went gold in the U.S. All that is the prologue to their new "Playing God" video, which — though it never expressly states as much — feels very much like the band coming full circle, tying up loose ends and probably putting Eyes to bed for good.

Of course, I'm just speculating about all that. It's entirely possible Paramore may still wring a single or two out of Eyes, but I sort of doubt it. Especially since everything involving the "Playing God" clip — which premiered Tuesday (November 16) on the band's website — seems to suggest otherwise.

It was shot entirely at frontwoman Hayley Williams' house in Franklin, Tennessee, the same house she gave MTV News a tour of last year, in the week leading up to Eyes' release. There are moments — particularly those that feature her bandmates tied up in her basement, a single light bulb dangling over their heads — that recall the video for "Ignorance," which was the first single from the album (and was also shot, in part, at Williams' house). In one scene, Williams can be seen examining old band photos, and in another, she performs in front of the mirrors that not only hang in her guest room, but adorn the back cover of Eyes (they were bought at the Franklin Goodwill, BTW).

The message — at least to me — appears clear: Paramore are returning home, looking back, wrapping things up. "Playing God" is a bittersweet, sentimental thing, a scrapbook of the past year of their lives, and the final chapter in the Brand New Eyes saga. It's a story that began with the band's future severely in doubt and concludes with them stronger, happier and better than ever. So if "God" really is the end of the BNE line, well, then it's a fitting farewell. It's time for the band to turn the page, to move on. It was a heck of an album and a heck of a ride, and I can't wait to see where they go from here.

'Green Lantern': Everything We Know Before The Trailer Debut

Posted: 16 Nov 2010 03:17 AM PST

Take a look back before the latest sneak peek premieres.

After years of what's-taking-so-long buildup, a killer Comic-Con rollout and a pre-trailer teaser that popped up earlier this week, the first "Green Lantern" trailer is set to debut online in a few hours.

That sound you hear is the MTV Movies team giggling with delight. Because it's been a long time coming, and there's still almost seven months to go until the DC Comics adaptation hits theaters. As we look forward to the new trailer, we've also been looking back at everything we already know about "Green Lantern."

Early Development
The flick has journeyed through a by-now-familiar cycle of development delays and contrasting studio visions. An earlier version, for instance, established a more comedic take on the character — Hal Jordan, a fighter pilot-turned-superhero, thanks to an all-powerful ring — with Jack Black in the starring role. By the summer of 2008, though, Warner Bros. had shifted the property back to active development, and a trio of fanboy-approved writers (Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Michael Green) penned a new script.

"We really spanned the whole gamut from the Silver Age through the Modern Age to Geoff Johns," Guggenheim told us about "Lantern" comics that inspired them. "There's a lot of different elements that are hard to coalesce, actually. Green Lantern as much as any modern-day superhero has a lot of continuity gaps and inconsistencies, and you're wrestling with it all to make everything work."

In February 2009, word broke that "Casino Royale" director Martin Campbell was in negotiations to direct, and by that summer, three actors were reportedly competing for the Jordan role: Bradley Cooper, Justin Timberlake and Ryan Reynolds. In July, the part was handed to Reynolds.

"I fell in love with the character when I met with Martin Campbell," Reynolds told us that November. "When you have a guy like Martin Campbell, part of his charm is that he has balls of titanium, and the other part is that he's slightly crazy, and you have to be to take on something with the scope of 'Green Lantern.' He's less of the director and more of a general."

The Shoot
Just days into 2010, "Green Lantern" got an official green light and a production start date of March. Quickly, the rest of the cast came together: Blake Lively as Jordan love interest Carol Ferris; Mark Strong as initial Jordan mentor Sinestro; Peter Sarsgaard as villain Dr. Hector Hammond; and Tim Robbins as Senator Hammond.

In a move that surprised no one, Campbell announced that the film would be converted to 3-D during post-production. Ramping up the visual-effects quotient further, it became clear that Reynolds' suit would be a completely CG-assisted outfit, and that's exactly what we got when images of a suited-up Reynolds debuted online.

San Diego Comic-Con
Warner Bros. swept into the den of pop-culture geekery this summer with one heck of a presentation: purple-hued Abin Sur encased in glass; footage of Reynolds as Jordan and Sarsgaard as Hammond; and tons of commentary from the cast and crew.

"The tone is light. It has a lot of humor, but I think the relationships between all the characters are very real," Campbell said during the Comic-Con panel. "We try to keep the action very real. ... It's my first superhero movie — unless you count James Bond."

The Run-Up to the Trailer
The key question remained: When would folks not lucky enough to be in Hall H during Comic-Con get to check out "Green Lantern" footage? DC Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns announced that the trailer would debut in front of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1" on Friday. But what about online?

"I wish I could say tomorrow, but it's not going to be tomorrow. It will be soon, though." Johns said in October. "Technically it's a teaser, but it's pretty big. I don't know the exact time, length, but it's got more stuff in there than I would have thought for a teaser, that's for sure."

MTV News then learned the trailer would appear online Tuesday (November 16) at 8 p.m. ET. A few days earlier, "Entertainment Tonight" aired a teaser for the trailer. We saw Reynolds transform into superhero form and unleash a giant, power-ring-enabled fist; images of the Green Lantern home planet; and Kilowog, one nasty-looking drill instructor who helps train Jordan.

So what will we see in the full trailer? Whatever it is, expect some heated debate. That's what happened when the first look at Jordan's costume debuted and, well, Reynolds expects nothing less.

"There has to be a little healthy debate about it," he told us. "I mean, that's important. If it were just slanted one way or the other, I don't think it would be that satisfying."

Check out everything we've got on "Green Lantern."

Mitchel Musso Gets Real On New Album, Brainstorm

'Hannah Montana' actor tells MTV News he shot videos for entire eight-song set 'to make it different.'

Mitchel Musso made a name for himself as one of the stars of "Hannah Montana," alongside another star you may have heard of, Miley Cyrus. But Musso wants his fans to know he's much more than Cyrus' small-screen sidekick. He also has a burgeoning music career and his sophomore album, Brainstorm, drops next Monday.

For the album, Musso worked with brother and Metro Station frontman Mason Musso, whom he described as the perfect person to collaborate with because they mesh so well.

"Mason could teach me all day. He could teach me all day on anything and everything, but I don't care. I look up to him and he's my older brother," he said. "I love him to death. He's my best friend and we'll forever make music together and when we get into the studio we have the same mindset, which I think makes good music."

The album is Mitchel's passion project: He made a music video for each of the eight songs on the album, which he said should help to convey a story line.

"Honestly, I just wanted to make it different. And I figured trying to tell this fluid story and making a music video for every single song [would achieve that]; just so the message would be portrayed," he told MTV News about Brainstorm, which follows the arc of a relationship.

"Overall, I felt it told a pretty fluid story and that's the way that we wrote it," he continued. "I don't think I could use [the word] 'original' enough. These music videos are very under-toned. I didn't go in there with putting $3 million into each of these music videos. So what I did was got as real as I could. ... It's more about creating this baby and making it this big deal. So we shot eight music videos in three and a half days. It was wild. [The videos are] intimate and quiet."

Girl Talk Reveals His Favorite All Day Moments

Greg Gillis' faves include his samples of Black Sabbath, Soulja Boy, Miley Cyrus and more.

On Monday (November 15), Girl Talk brought the Internet to its knees with the out-of-nowhere release of All Day, his latest collection of whiplash-inducing, copyright-eschewing party jams. Clocking in at more than 70 minutes and featuring some 370 different samples, it's both GT's longest and most ambitious effort to date, which makes the fact that he gave it away for free all the more impressive.

To most people, at least.

"I don't know, it doesn't seem like all that big of a thing to me," the producer (real name: Gregg Gillis) told MTV News on Monday, hours after All Day hit the 'Net. "It's always like, 'How can I raise the bar a little bit?' So I thought just making it free, straight-up, would do that, and would get it out there quicker. That was really the only thinking behind it."

Still, Gillis will be the first to admit that he labored longer and harder on All Day than all of the previous Girl Talk albums combined, which is why it's understandable that he'd rather talk about some of his favorite individual moments on the album rather than the marketing strategy (or lack thereof) behind its release.

"I definitely really like the opening bit, the 'War Pigs' thing," he said. "I think the flow is just perfect and the energy is right, and like I said before ... you always want to make a strong impact out of the gates, and that was the perfect moment. I really like the Soulja Boy/ Aphex Twin mix. I really like the 'Where's Your Head At?'/ Rick Ross 'Blowin' Money Fast' mix. ... Oh, and the M.O.P. over Miley Cyrus' 'Party in the USA' mix is definitely one of the more magical moments to me."

All Day has only been out for 24 hours, but fans have already created an ever-growing list of all the samples Gillis mined to make the album. And they've been contacting him nonstop to discuss their favorite mixes, too. Though the response has been overwhelming, Gillis said he's pretty used to it at this point. After all, when it comes to his music, playing "Spot the Sample" is half of the fun.

"People are always juiced about the big ones ... the Jackson 5 samples and things like that, but when people are really excited, they kinda cite the slightly more obscure ones," Gillis laughed. "The Fugazi ['Waiting Room' sample] has been one people have been talking about a lot, and the Aphex Twin/Soulja Boy one. ... People kind of expect the huge pop hits and the classics, but it's the ones that are slightly less popular that really get the fans who have been listening to my stuff for years really excited about diving in."

Just in time for the holidays, Adam Lambert is treating fans to the unplugged set Acoustic Live! The five-song EP, due in stores December 6, will feature stripped-down versions of "Whataya Want From Me" and other popular tracks from his debut album, For Your Entertainment.

According to a post on his website, the acoustic versions of "Whataya Want From Me" and "Music Again" were recorded in Germany. Additional tracks, "Aftermath" and "Soaked," from the singer's Glam Nation Tour, will also be included on the set.

On the cover of Acoustic Live!, a shirtless Lambert stands in front of a blue and white spiral explosion throwing up the peace sign and rocking his signature messy hairdo.

Just last month, the "American Idol" season-eight runner-up opened up about his on-the-road studio sessions. "We went around Europe in the earlier part of this year ... and we did a lot of promo, so I had Monty, my guitar player, and my drummer at the time," the singer told Australian personality Dylan Lewis. "We just did very stripped-back versions of the songs. We got our hands on some of those recordings. Then we also recorded some of the stuff from the actual Glam Nation Tour, so it's going to be a mix of both."

In addition to Acoustic Live!, Glamberts can also look forward to seeing the singing sensation profiled in an upcoming episode of "True Hollywood Story." The episode, which is scheduled to air Sunday on E!, will feature Lambert and his parents discussing everything from his fame to their family relationship.

Mindless Behavior have been burning up teen girls' iPods with their catchy debut single, "My Girl," a track about a girl who texts her boyfriend constantly. It's a topic the up-and-coming boy band — Ray Ray, Princeton, Prodigy and Roc Royal — told MTV News they could relate to.

"Well, 'My Girl' is about, we're talking to each other, talking to our friends or whoever you hang out with, that our girls text us a lot," Ray Ray explained. "And everyone texts. We text, our parents text, the song could relate to everyone."

Ray Ray's bandmate Princeton added that the song not only appealed to them lyrically, but its funky, techno/R&B beat also won them over. "First, when we heard the beat it was just catchy and then our management team made the lyrics," he said. "So it went perfectly."

The four 13-year-olds are also stoked about the video for "My Girl," which serves not only as an intro to the new pop group, but also an eye-catching spectacle of smooth dance moves. "It was exciting. We were all happy. We had a lot of fun on the set," Ray Ray said.

Princeton noted that although the daylong shoot could have been grueling, it was in fact a good time.

"It was an all-day shoot. We started at 5 o'clock in the morning and ended at 10 o'clock at night, so it was fun. We saw the different outfits and the crew was amazing too," he recalled. "[The video] starts off with us walking out of a concert and girls are screaming. It's basically just us at a concert performing in different outfits and different scenes."

Jay-Z 'Decoded' Songs Like 'Lucifer' To Give Rap 'Context'

MC's new book explains that Black Album song was about Biggie's murder.

For Jay-Z, the quick-witted lyricist turned author, emotion is at the heart of many of his rhymes. Such was the case behind "Lucifer," a rumbling Kanye West-produced number from 2003's The Black Album that found Jay-Z spitting a warning with quite a bite.

"Lord forgive him/ He got them dark forces in him," Jay raps on the track. "But he also got a righteous cause for sinning/ Them a murder me so I got to murder them."

In the pages of "Decoded," his new book in stores Tuesday (November 16), the Brooklyn MC reveals that the song was about the desire for revenge against the Notorious B.I.G.'s killers. And before his event at the New York Public Library on Monday night, he talked to MTV News about why he felt songs like this needed to be explained years later.

"I wanted people to have the proper context of rap, the generation, what we went through, these emotions behind these songs," Jay-Z told MTV News. "A song like 'Lucifer,' it's really about the struggle and really about dealing with death and having that feeling. The evil is inside of you, not this mythical character with pitchforks and things like that. Dealing with a feeling of wanting revenge."

But like Russell Simmons before him, Jay-Z argues that rap is a form of poetry influenced by the MCs' experiences and the bigger events around them — some of which may be violent.

"You hear a song like 'F--- Tha Police' without context, and you think it's just four angry guys being disobedient," he explained. "Then you see the Rodney King beating, and you put those two in perspective and realize these are the things that were happening in the neighborhood and this comes out of anger. This comes out of love, this comes out of passion. These are real emotions. Now when you give it context, it's for the world to decide if it's right or wrong, or should have been made. But at least have the proper context."

Rihanna is embracing her island roots on the reggae-infused Loud track "Man Down."

On it, she sings about shooting a man over police sirens and instrumentation ready-made for Bob Marley. She was really proud the song made the final cut for her album, which dropped this week.

" 'Man Down' is gangsta! It comes from me trying to achieve that [vibe]," she told MTV News. "I'm super inspired by reggae music [and it] has been a part of me since I was born, and I grew up listening to it. I grew up loving it. My favorite artists are all reggae artists."

Rihanna is from Barbados, so delving into reggae culture is a natural fit for the pop songstress. "I live that culture," she added. "I never get tired of it. I can listen to reggae music all day long, and it was exciting for me to take this on as my own and do a song like this, especially with the lyrics being like that."

On the track, Rihanna sings, "Oh, mama/ I just shot a man down/ In Central Station/ In front of a big ol' crowd," her singing voice fully embracing her accent. She later sings, "I am a criminal/ Man down/ Tell the judge to please give me minimal."

"The special thing in that song is the fact that it's a female singing those lyrics, then you have that reggae thing and the chant; the overall energy in that song is so gangsta," she said. "It's got a lot of swagger. I really enjoy it."
