After Lil Wayne and Drake's reunion on Saturday following Weezy's release, reports have cropped up suggesting there's drama within the Young Money camp. However, on Friday (November 12), Drizzy shot down Web rumors that he got into an altercation with Wayne after the final stop of the Light Dreams and Nightmares Tour in Las Vegas.
"You got the story wrong...Lil Wayne punched me in my arm cause he saw a VW beetle pass by," Drake tweeted, joking about the boredom-fighting road-trip game Punch Buggy and referencing Internet stories that Weezy socked his protégé in the face because he felt the Canadian MC abandoned him while he was serving his eight-month prison bid. "Haaa...YM Forever," Drake wrote, shrugging off the controversy. Drake's rep also denied that any punches were thrown, onstage or off. "There were no disruptions," his rep said in a statement to MTV News. "The concert and afterparty went off without a hitch." MTV News also spoke to Drake directly after the Vegas show, following Wayne's surprise cameo during their Thank Me Later collabo, "Miss Me." The MC described his elation at seeing Weezy publicly for the first time since his release days earlier and revealed that he wasn't expecting a friendly onstage bum-rush from the newly freed spitter. "I talked to him on the phone, and he was like, 'I'll see you in Miami. I got my party. I hope you make it.' So I hit [Cortez Bryant], who manages me and Wayne, and I said, 'You're not coming to the last show?' And he was like, 'No, man, can't make it.' That's how I hit the stage: 'I got no surprises for these people. They all think Wayne is coming and he's not coming.' "After the hook of 'Miss Me,' " Drake said, "I heard ... Wayne's verse. I didn't quite know what was going on. I looked back, and there's the man. I jumped higher than I've ever jumped in my entire life." All seems to be going well in Young Money land after Wayne's first weekend back home, as the superstar MC was snapped alongside Drake, Mack Maine, Birdman, Bow Wow and Chris Brown at a Miami Heat game Thursday night. Cee Lo's potty-mouthed hit "F--- You" may lyrically flip off an old flame, but the crooner has nothing but love for the lady set to cover his jam on "Glee" Tuesday night. The singer said he's amped that Gwyneth Paltrow will belt his chart-topper when the Oscar winner guest-stars on the musically driven Fox smash.
"I really am just flattered ... that not only 'Glee' [covered it], but it was Gwyneth [singing]," Cee Lo told MTV News on Friday (November 12). The singer, who recently dropped his latest solo effort, The Lady Killer, was surprised that the "Iron Man" star would be taking a stab at his catalog during her arc as a McKinley High substitute teacher. "I didn't realize when we first did the clearances for it," he revealed. "I just thought that maybe it would be sung by the cast, but [it] turns out to be her. I'm like, 'That's just, that's too awesome.' " In addition to busting out a PG version of Cee Lo's bawdy hit, Paltrow will also dip into the repertoire of another pop star and tackle Rihanna's 2007 dance-floor filler "Umbrella." Although she's taking on a pair of pop&B smashes, Paltrow has already demonstrated her vocal chops in the country-music arena. Paltrow will make her "Glee" debut just about a week after her critically acclaimed performance of "Country Strong" at the 44th annual CMA Awards. Critics said the Hollywood superstar "held her own" and she even impressed country-music superstar Miranda Lambert, who said, "She sounded really country, I think. She seems very genuine." "Runaway" vixen Selita Ebanks is Team Kanye in the whole "Today" show drama. The supermodel recently said she sent West some supportive messages as he navigates his latest high-profile controversy.
"He knows I'm busy, he's busy, but he's a big boy. He's been through this. I wrote him some kind words, just [encouraging] him to stay positive and just concentrate on his music," Ebanks told NBC New York's Niteside blog at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show afterparty Thursday night. Although the supermodel said she hadn't spoken to 'Ye since the flap first kicked off, she added that the outspoken MC deserves to be respected for his craft. "He has a great gift and he should be appreciated for it," she said. West has been at odds with the "Today" show and anchor Matt Lauer after taking issue with an interview during which the show rolled footage of the MC's 2009 VMA outburst just as he attempted to address his comments about former President George W. Bush. The standoff between West and the NBC morning show team escalated Friday morning (November 12) when the "Power" lyricist pulled out of a scheduled November 26 "Today" performance. "I'm not performing on the 'Today' show for obvious reasons," West tweeted. "I'm so happy the world got to see a small piece of 'the set up.' Rick Ross is a man of honor. The Miami Don recorded a video for his Lil Wayne-assisted track "Veteran's Day," but the Boss waited until the Cash Money superstar was released from prison before putting out the track.
"I just wanted to hold it down until the homie came home and celebrate like that with the homie," Ross told MTV News. Weezy wasn't able to see the final version of the visual before he turned himself in to begin an eight-month prison sentence on Rikers Island in March. Now free, though, Ross said Wayne has had a chance to see the finished product. "Birdman hit me after we released the video, he bigged up Spiff," Ross said of the Cash Money label head giving props to director Spiff TV. "He bigged up the whole team. This is what we gonna keep doing." The horn-laden track leaked prior to the release of Ross' Teflon Don album, but he decided to keep the song off of that project. Instead, he held onto the full-length version. (The leak featured only a portion of the track and didn't include all of the lyricists who make the final cut.) Ross said the track is now a gift for fans; he has no plans to place it on a future album or mixtape. "I had the love to follow through with the video and execute it and deliver it," he explained. "It was a record that I loved, that just didn't make it. A lot of times it just happens like that. This is as far as it's gonna go. It's for the people." | Kanye West Turned To Media Coach For 'Today' Interview Posted: 12 Nov 2010 06:32 AM PST New York Times reports MC enlisted the assistance of a public-relations firm to prepare for now-infamous sit-down.
Despite Kanye West's denouncement of his recent "Today" show interview, the MC initially took the sit-down very seriously, according to The New York Times.
The paper reports that Yeezy recruited public-relations firm Rubenstein Communications to prep him for his sit-down with Matt Lauer. Although he's currently shunning all things related to "Today," the MC reportedly approached the program about responding to President George Bush's thoughts about West's Hurricane Katrina telethon outburst during a recent interview on the NBC show. The "Power" MC apparently brought in the firm to make sure his comments about the former commander in chief were communicated effectively. However, after watching the prime-time Bush broadcast Monday, West and the firm decided the former president didn't say enough about the MC to warrant a lengthy sit-down. Yet, Tuesday morning, the MC's team decided the interview was back on, apparently without the knowledge of the Rubenstein coach who had to hustle to the studios to help his client. During the conversation with Lauer, 'Ye bristled at the show's use of footage from Bush's interview and West's 2009 MTV VMA run-in with Taylor Swift while he was speaking. The MC blasted the show on Twitter after Tuesday's taping, and the "Today" show defended its use of running archival footage during interviews, which is a common broadcast practice not unique to the program. West posted another emotional screed Friday morning (November 12) announcing that he was pulling out of a scheduled "Today" concert on November 26. "I'm not performing on the 'Today' show for obvious reasons," West wrote. "I'm so happy the world got to see a small piece of 'the set up.' I blatantly said I'm not performing [on the show] on a tweet ... and the next day they still announced a performance." He also broke down his issues with the use of the footage, which he maintained was used to "prompt his emotions." "I want you guys to look at that footage and start to put everything together now. It's very simple to call someone angry or spoiled or the one thousand names I've been called, but it's harder to try to take a look at what's really behind the curtain," he wrote. "I'm so happy that my real fans are not as 'basic' as the media makes them out to be. Did you see them try to justify playing the audio [of West's infamous VMA run-in with Taylor Swift] under my interview? Yo, sometimes you're just wrong and it ain't nothing you can say to justify it. When "Hairspray" star Nikki Blonsky was an aspiring entertainer, nothing could stop her from getting seen — not even death. Due to her willingness to show off her pipes at any occasion in her hometown of Great Neck, New York, the budding starlet gained a reputation as the go-to gal for the town's entertainment needs, even for dearly departed residents.
"I was known as, like, the town singer. If anyone needed me to sing like ... for the Veterans Day parade, I was there. I was also the girl that was known for singing at funerals," she says in the latest episode of "When I Was 17," which also features stories from Nigel Barker and Angelina from "Jersey Shore." "I was always under the impression, like, 'Well, you never know where you can get noticed.' So I spent a lot of my weekends at funerals." "It was cool that Nikki could go out and make a sad situation happier," her brother Joey observes. The "Huge" star recalls one occasion where subpar audio equipment forced Blonsky to deliver an exceptionally loud performance to mourners. "This one funeral, the mic was just broken. So I just had to sing extra loud as they were, like, proceeding out with the coffin," Blonsky recalls. "I'm trying to belt out 'Ave Maria,' which is such a beautiful song, it's supposed to be so delicate, and I'm singing it like I'm in Giants Stadium so everybody in the back row can hear me." Blonsky weathered the audio snafu because, ultimately, it was all about giving the deceased a respectful sendoff. "I wanted the person to have a nice goodbye," she says. Mike Sorrentino has reportedly made millions since he rose to fame as the lady-loving, fist-pumping Situation on "Jersey Shore." And while he is humble about his success, he does admit that he made one major purchase since GTLing his way to the top. "I bought a car for myself and my sister, my baby sister," he told MTV News. "My license plate I did get registered, and it is S-I-T-C-H ... so that's pretty cool."
One might think the Sitch would want to keep a lower profile out in public, but he doesn't mind the attention at all. "On the back of my car, it says 'The Situation' in letters. It's pretty fun," he explained. "I work so much, I've been blessed to be busy, but when I have time and I'm able to drive my car, which is a couple times here and there, you know, it says 'Situation' on the back of the car, and people are honking the horn and fist-pumping, and it's really, really cool. I'm very flattered and I'm very happy. Things are going very well." Things are going so well he's even managed to release a book, "Here's the Situation: A Guide to Creeping on Chicks, Avoiding Grenades, and Getting in Your GTL on the Jersey Shore," and he says the sky's the limit for him. "I've realized what I want to do in life in that I just love being in front of the camera," he said. "I love being an entertainer. It's almost been a lifelong journey to find out what I wanted to do. Lloyd Banks joined Sway on Thursday for his second visit to "RapFix Live," and during their chat, Banks was asked by a fan about 50 Cent's upcoming album. "It only takes one record to build a masterpiece," Banks said. "When I heard 'What Up Gangsta,' I knew it was enough to build [50 Cent's first LP, Get Rich or Die Tryin'] around that. We come from the same vein. You know most of it's gonna be aggressive, and then the creative flow gonna come out on different times, different records. I just got off the phone with him before I got here. And he was like, 'It only takes one record. I think I made it last night.' I'm excited to hear it."
Banks was also asked about Game's recent attempts to reconnect with 50 Cent. The Compton MC had been tweeting incessantly at 50 Cent earlier in the day, trying to get Fif to reply. Game tweeted, "@50cent All it take is "ONE PHONE CALL" ! U call me, I call BUCK, tell Banks holla at Yayo & dat puts HIP HOP @ OUR MERCY ! #UknowUcdisN---A." 50 Cent tweeted back, "what are you guys talking about i dont talk to game i have had no communication whit him in years." Banks dismissed any chance of a reunion, saying the strategy behind G-Unit's sudden re-emergence has little to do with the crew itself, but more so the individual moves of the artists in the camp. In that respect, there would be no reason to reunite with Game, because he's not doing enough on his own. "I can't honestly take that situation seriously," Banks said. "This time coming around, it was more about us as individual artists building up our brand to eventually come together to form the monster they know as G-Unit the crew. Not to form the crew G-Unit to better our career as solo artists. We did that dance already. 50's first album led into the G-Unit album, which led into my album. Now it's time to pay 50 back. Justin Bieber injured his knee during his tour stop in Cleveland on Thursday night. Sources close to the singer described the injury as minor, according to initial reports by TMZ. Bieber reportedly hurt his knee midway through the show at Cleveland State University's Wolstein Center, but continued to perform. Gossip Cop reports that the singer said, "I twisted my knee pretty bad." A rep for the singer told E! News, "Justin was seen limping onstage last night, however, he finished his set. We are hoping it's just a bad sprain." A rep for the singer had not responded to MTV News' request for comment at press time. However, a source told E! that shortly after wrapping up the show, he went straight to his tour bus to rest. The singer's next concert is scheduled for Saturday at the Norfolk Scope Arena. This isn't the first time Bieber has injured himself at a show. Last fall, almost a year to the day, the singer injured and broke his foot during a show in London, where he was opening for fellow superstar Taylor Swift at Wembley Arena. He tweeted about the injury at the time, saying, "In the last song, 'One Time,' I tripped over something onstage coming down the ramp and felt my ankle roll in a very bad way. Turns out I fractured my foot and had to finish the song on a broken foot." Bieber has not tweeted about his most recent injury. In better news, Bieber's new track, "Pray," hit the Internet on Friday (November 12). The song will be the only new track featured on his latest release, My Worlds Acoustic, out on November 26. The Boss delivered in the nick of time. According to Rick Ross, the Miami rapper gave Kanye West his verse for the revamped "Devil in a New Dress" as the deadline drew near for West to turn in the completed My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy collection. "I got a call, they wanted me to be a part of that record," Ross told MTV News on the red carpet at Wednesday's Soul Train Awards. "It was actually the last day before Kanye had to turn the record in, and I think that pressure just made it that much more special to me. So I just sat there, approached the record openly and as straightforward as I could. When I laid the verse, 30 minutes later, I was extremely happy. I sent it to him, and he was too. I think it was one of the dopest verses I did this year."
Ross appears on the tail end of the track, which premiered as a part of West's "G.O.O.D. Friday" series in early September. Originally, the song — produced by Bink — was sparse, with a tickling piano chord and a smooth Smokey Robinson vocal sample as West raps a slick story about love and lust. The re-engineered "Devil in a New Dress" features a synth-heavy breakdown, complete with guitar riffs, before Ross arrives, spitting: "I never needed acceptance from you outsiders/ Had cyphers with Yeezy before his mouth wired/ Before his jaw shattered, climbing up the lord's ladder/ We still speeding, running signs like they don't matter." Ross spent time last winter working with West on his project. The two completed Ross' "Live Fast, Die Young," and the Miami rapper appeared on West's "Monster." In a July appearance on "RapFix Live," The Boss compared the recording sessions to school. "America's Next Top Model" judge and photographer Nigel Barker used to spend his time off as a teen hanging out at his brother's place in Europe. But in the latest episode of "When I Was 17," which premieres Saturday at 11 a.m., Barker recalls one vacation that went from idyllic to disastrous. "I used to go and spend every summer in Spain at my brother's house. This particular year, he decided he was gonna leave me for a month, which I thought was actually fabulous," Barker says in the episode, which also features teen tales from "Jersey Shore" star Angelina star Angelina and "Hairspray" star Nikki Blonsky. "Unfortunately, for him, not for me, he left me with his motorcycle."
Barker couldn't resist a joyride or two, and after swiping his bro's bike, he headed to a pal's place for some food. However, despite having to hit the road later, he washed down the grub with a brew. "I remember going around to my friend's house and having lunch. I stupidly also had a beer. Don't drink and drive, folks, and here's the moral of the story," he advises. The midday meal ended with a catastrophic crash, as Barker was too tipsy to even get the motorcycle onto the road. "I left my friend's [driveway], and literally as I went out the [driveway], I immediately hit the ground," he says, with a smack of his hand. "[I] skidded all over this gravel, ripped up my leg and one of the prongs of the actual wheel went straight through my foot." Buy your plane tickets, kids. Believe it or not, the 2011 Winter Music Conference is just around the corner. And we're not the only ones getting ready for the mother of all dance-music events; Swedish House Mafia's Steve Angello, and his rapidly expanding label Size Records, is already busy planning for this year's festivities. "I'm doing a Size party again like last year, but [this year], it's going to be big," Angello told MTV News.
Not that last year's Size Matters pool party at the Eden Rock was small, by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, with names like Afrojack, Laidback Luke and Funkagenda touching the quadruple Pioneer CDJ 2000 setup, it was one of the premier pool parties to catch. When the always-humble Angello said "big," he really meant "massive" — so massive, in fact, this year's party will include 26 DJs spread out over a 14-hour day in the sweltering Miami sun. Who might we catch tearing up the decks at this year's event? Most likely Angello's younger brother, AN21 — who, along with Steve, released Size's first-ever compilation album Size Matters this week — as well as loads of world-class DJs and producers, many of whom are featured on the LP. This year alone, the likes of Eric Prydz (Cirez D), Tim Berg (Avicii), Max Vangelli, Pete Tong, David Spoon, Kim Fai, Junior Sanchez and Thomas Gold (to name a small few) produced tracks under the Size label, which means the potential set list is very promising. But it's not just Size Records warming up for the fun. According to Angello, Swedish House Mafia are already working on this year's Miami Monster. After two consecutive years reigning supreme at the conference, (with "Leave the World Behind" and "One," respectively), the Swedes have become WMC's perennial powerhouses, and expectations are extremely high. For the past couple of months, MTV News has been taking you behind the scenes of Hollywood's biggest movies, showing you how cool scenes and stunning effects are created. We've touched on Taylor Lautner's CGI wolf in "Eclipse," the scariest moments in "Paranormal Activity 2," the wackiest bits in "The Other Guys" and much more. Now, we run up against "Unstoppable," the Tony Scott-directed, Denzel Washington-starring flick about a runaway train carrying a cargo of toxic chemicals. Scott's longtime editor, Chris Lebenzon, gave us a call and revealed a few secrets behind the production. Scott Shot 30,000 Minutes of Film for a 99-Minute Movie "Tony shoots so much with so many cameras, and we placed them in the best possible places to make everything look different," Lebenzon explained. "He shot 30,000 minutes of footage. He had cameras in the sky, in the ground. Tony shoots with long lenses and a lot of foreground, so it gives you the illusion that the environment is speeding by. Sometimes we sped up shots and sometimes we slowed others down." The filmmakers also spent a great deal of time turning the runaway train, which they referred to as "triple 7, " from an inanimate object into essentially the film's villain. "Creating the sense of the beast of 777, which was really the antagonist — that was very important," Lebenzon said. "Not only picking the right shots, but selecting where they would go to build the most impact throughout." The Key to 'Unstoppable' Is 'Top Gun' "We learned a lot on 'Top Gun,' because they were in a control room on an aircraft carrier. You learn when is the most exciting time to cut back to the control room in the middle of the action. We carried that through to 'The Taking of Pelham.' And so we really knew what we were doing when it came to those cuts on 'Unstoppable.' " Early Cuts Stole From 'Runaway Train' "We stole a bunch of shots as placeholders from 'Runaway Train,' " he said. "We borrowed other shots from 'The Taking of Pelham' and different trick shots from other movies and then went back and shot them ourselves as recently as eight weeks ago. The shot of the Marine smashing through the glass windshield — we did that two months ago." Denzel's Stunt Double Looked Nothing Like Him "[Denzel] did those stunts a few times on ropes that we then erased with visual effects," Lebenzon said. "Then we had to get the right stunt double who didn't look like he was laboring too much but also didn't make it look too easy. How old should he be? He didn't look like Denzel at all, but we cut it fast enough that it didn't really matter." Chris Pine's Nemesis Is ... Corn? "This movie didn't have too much visual effects — to the delight of the studio when they realized how much money we were saving them," Lebenzon said. "For something like when 777 goes around a big curve, that was visual effects, because you can't tip a train. But people were still worried the train was going to tip when Tony shot it. It didn't, thankfully." Most of the time, though, Scott and his team relied on practical effects, such as during a scene in which Washington's co-star, Chris Pine, straddles two train cars in an attempt to connect them. "He did a lot of that stunt work himself," Lebenzon said. "Then the car bursts open and all that stuff starts flying out at him. "We're producers, and we lead a brand called the Surf Club. We're artists, we got writers and producers, so, you know, catch us everywhere," Chase told Mixtape Daily. Next Wave of Flav On 50 Cent: "I went to play him some music and vibe and hear where he was going with it," Hit-Boy said. "He's taking it back to the old 50. "Once you get that, every beat you get is crazy. It's easy. So that makes for good work. "The majority of [the mixtape] is Jake," he added. "But I got some joints from Just, a couple from B!nk. He just brings that energy. I got some joints from Don Cannon. I'm just working and trying to put some things together." | Kanye West Cancels 'Today' Show Performance Posted: 12 Nov 2010 05:51 AM PST 'I blatantly said I'm not performing,' West tweets from Dubai Friday morning.
On Thursday morning, the "Today" show aired its much-discussed interview with Kanye West, which concluded with host Matt Lauer announcing that West would return to the show on November 26 for "a special live concert on the plaza." And though, earlier in the week, West seemed to be announcing he'd take a break from Twitter when he wrote, "Gonna sit these next few plays out," Lauer's announcement apparently forced him to strap the pads back on. Early Friday morning (November 12), 'Ye took to his Twitter account once again (from Dubai) to continue his screed against the show.
"I'm not performing on the 'Today' show for obvious reasons," West wrote. "I'm so happy the world got to see a small piece of 'the set up.' I blatantly said I'm not performing [on the show] on a tweet ... and the next day they still announced a performance. "Do you guys see what I'm saying now?" he continued. "This is just a small slice of the day-to-day bullsh-- that goes on that helps to precipitate the idea that I['m] such an a--hole. Cause when I don't perform 'Oh Nooow I'm the one that's crazy or a jerk.' " The tweet West was referring to was a message he posted on Tuesday, in which he wrote, "I don't mess with Matt Lauer or the 'Today' show ... and that's a very nice way for me to put it." Whether or not that constitutes him "blatantly" announcing he would not perform on the show is a matter that could be debated endlessly, but West wasn't about to allow semantics to slow him down, as he continued dissecting his "Today" interview in a series of messages. "I want you guys to look at that footage and start to put everything together now. It's very simple to call someone angry or spoiled or the one thousand names I've been called, but it's harder to try to take a look at what's really behind the curtain," he wrote. "I'm so happy that my real fans are not as 'basic' as the media makes them out to be. Did you see them try to justify playing the audio [of West's infamous VMA run-in with Taylor Swift] under my interview? Yo, sometimes you're just wrong and it ain't nothing you can say to justify it. Believe me, I know!" West then shifted tones, writing, "I'm not complaining. I'm tweeting because I'm so happy you guys got to see this sh-- really go down." And he made it clear that he's already moved on from the incident, extending an olive branch to Lauer and the entire "Today" show staff. Sort of. "I don't hate Matt Lauer ... we don't promote hate. That's the whole point. I promote love and truth," he wrote. "You know what? We off that! They made a mistake. They thought they could pull it but they couldn't. That was just a small representation of a bigger media play that's been going on since the beginning of time. All positive energy ... all smiles. Much love to Matt and the whole 'Today' show. Fergie has never been shy about stepping out of her role as the leading lady in the Black Eyed Peas to pursue her solo career. Her smash 2006 solo album, The Dutchess, proved that Fergie could rule the charts on her own. But right now, the Dutchess says she's focused on her work with the group and has no plans to go solo again anytime soon.
"Definitely, in my lifetime, [but] not in the near future, no," she told reporters at the Glamour Women of The Year Event on Monday in New York City. Fergie admitted that she has too many other balls to juggle at the moment to find time to work on more of her own music: "We have The Beginning, which is coming out now, so I'm all about Black Eyed Peas right now... and Slash, my inner rock chick coming out in that world. I've got my footwear that I'm concentrating on; that's a big [project]." Fergie appeared on Slash's solo LP this year, singing on the track "Beautiful Dangerous." On the Glamour red carpet, Fergie also dished on The Beginning, due out November 30. "You should expect deeper, a little bit darker electro beats and a little bit more of relationship issues on this one," she explained. "A lot of funny stuff, as well." The group already has given fans a taste of what that means in the form of the album's first single, the super-techno dance track "The Time (Dirty Bit)," which samples the iconic theme from "Dirty Dancing," "(I've Had) The Time of My Life." Fergie said the song sums up the group's current vibe: "I think it's crazy the way the world works, because ['Dirty Dancing' star] Jennifer Grey is now on 'Dancing With the Stars,' and for some reason that song ['(I've Had) The Time of My Life'] kind of meant something to us, because we have had an amazing run. "I mean, it just keeps going, and it keeps going. And we really feel like we have had the time of our lives together. Ke$ha is ready to party again. The latest track from Cannibal, "Blow," has hit the Internet, the fourth song from the November 22 EP to do so. So what do fans get this time around? Well, Ke$ha kicks off the dark, electro track with a big laugh and a command to "party." Razor-edged synths kick in over a super-thumping beat as the singer and her pals, who happen to be "pretty and sick" and "young and bored," get ready to dance in a crash pad that has "dirt and glitter" covering the floor. Ke$ha's Auto-Tuned yodeling comes over the beat as she proclaims, "This place about to blow," during the song's scream-along party-anthem chorus. The song has many of the elements of a Ke$ha tune — carpe diem attitude and grinding beats — but it also shows the darker side of the singer with lyrics like: "We get what we want/ We do what you don't." The song's mantra is pretty much summed up in one of the song's choice lines: "It's time to lose your mind and let the crazy out." Ke$ha is a maneater on "Cannibal," empowers her fans on "We R Who We R" and disses a potential lover on the grimy track "Sleazy." "This year has been carnivorous and life-changing. I have my rowdy, gorgeous fans to thank for taking me on the ride of a lifetime," the pop star said in a statement. "My only goal with this record is to keep them dancing. The songs on Cannibal were made to inspire people to ignore any hate or judgment and be themselves unapologetically. It's the perfect companion to Animal and I hope you guys like it. What a wild mash-up of songs about rain! On Tuesday, CMA performer and Oscar winner Gwyneth Paltrow will make her much-hyped debut on "Glee" in an episode called "The Substitute," and a preview of one of her songs has hit Justjared.com. Paltrow takes on Rihanna's smash "Umbrella," and Mr. Schuester (Matthew Morrison) appears on the song singing lines from the classic Gene Kelly tune "Singin' in the Rain." The tracks mash up surprisingly well, and not just because of their obvious thematic similarities. Putting a modern, funky edge on the Kelly tune, which appeared in the 1952 film of the same name, updates the track and makes it seem like it could have easily appeared on Rihanna's 2008 hit. Paltrow will also sing a cleaned-up version of Cee Lo Green's instant classic "F--- You." In a clip that appears on EW.com, Paltrow's character, a substitute teacher filling in for Mr. Schuester, proves her hipness to the kids in New Directions with her sassy rendition of the track, changing the song's lyric to "forget you." Soon the entire Glee club participates in the sing-along, expect for a very unhappy-looking Rachel. Paltrow will appear in two episodes of the hit Fox show, proudly displaying her mad singing skills. Billy Ray Cyrus doesn't seem ready to talk about his split from Tish Cyrus. Miley's dad sat down with the "Woody and the Wake Up Call" radio show on WCOL in Nashville on Tuesday to tape an interview when the show's host, Woody Johnson, asked the performer about the separation.
"Woody Johnson, God bless America [and] God bless our troops," he told the radio host in an audio clip posted on the show's website. "Woody Johnson, look at you. Oh, I ain't mad at you. Have a good day, brother," he added, before he can be heard walking off with the host asking, "Are you done now?" On the same audio clip, Cyrus is heard telling someone, presumably Johnson, that it was "very rude" and that he "should be disgusted" for asking that question. Johnson then apologizes to the singer but says he "had to ask." The full interview is set to air Monday. Earlier this week, Bret Michaels denied rumors that he and Miley's mom had an affair that may have led to the couple's separation. "I've been friends with her family forever," Michaels told "Fox & Friends." "It started out with me and Miley simply working on a song together. Her mom, Tish, likes 'Every Rose Has Its Thorn,' the first concert Miley ever saw was Poison, and so they wanted to remake it for the new record. ... From the meat dress to the disco stick, Lady Gaga has been known to introduce her share of inventive ideas. And in spring 2012, her monsters will able to share one of her more tangible creations, her fragrance line. According to a press release, the singer has teamed up with global beauty company Coty Inc. to release the line. As with most Gaga originals, the project will be a collaborative effort between the singer and her Haus of Gaga design family. While it was reported last month that the fragrance would be called Monster, the release did not confirm the name. "Lady Gaga's universal appeal makes her a subject of fascination," Coty CEO Bernd Beetz explained in the release. "A force like no other, Lady Gaga is explosive, provocative and sexy, three traits which pave the way for an extraordinary fragrance experience for consumers." Though Gaga is joining a long list of other celebrities with their own fragrances, Beetz said that the team is aiming at marking new territories with this scent. "We welcome Lady Gaga to the Coty family and look forward to breaking boundaries that will allow people to experience beauty in a different and unique way," he said. The marketing plans for the fragrance are still in development, but Gaga's "little monsters" can expect the scent to make a splash on the scene that differs from her pop-star peers. Coty marketing exec Steve Mormoris described the forthcoming campaign for the fragrance as "unprecedented and groundbreaking" and said he hopes to create a packaging design that encompasses the singer's "artistic sensibility."
