Lindsay Lohan is officially too hot for "Inferno."

The film's director, Matthew Wilder, told E! News that after months of standing by the troubled starlet, he has decided to drop Lohan from the project.

"We are withdrawing our offer from Lindsay Lohan," he said. "We are currently in negotiations [with another actress] and working out the legalities of bringing her onboard."

The director explained that the inability to insure Lohan played a factor in the decision to continue the production without the embattled actress.

"We have stuck by Lindsay very patiently for a long time with a lot of love and support," Wilder said. "Ultimately, the impossibility of insuring her — and some other issues — have made it impossible for us to go forward."

Lohan's replacement is expected to be announced on Monday.

Although Wilder has publicly supported Lohan through her legal drama and substance abuse issues, and maintained he will strive to accommodate the actress, the director recently hinted that the production may have to ditch the star.

"You know we have been through a lot with this project, and although she is still our number one choice — we do have a Plan B if she cannot film 'Inferno,' " Wilder told Radar Online. The director also added that he had been communicating with other actresses who were interested in the role.

Questions about whether the starlet could complete the movie have dogged the project throughout Lohan's eventful year, which has included two prison bids for violating her probation. Filming was set to begin in November but Lohan was ordered to remain in rehab until January. While Wilder has previously admitted his frustration with the actress' situation, he has also maintained that Lohan's talent was worth sticking by the star.

"I understand people's exasperation," he told MTV News in September. "I share it. But there is a tremendous gift underneath all the obvious baggage."

When Ne-Yo hits the stage at the American Music Awards on Sunday, the singer/songwriter will have some big promises to fulfill.

MTV News caught up with the Libra Scale crooner on Friday during the rehearsals for the main event, and he said his upcoming set will be more than just the typical song-and-dance routine.

"The performance for the AMAs is gonna be a bit more theatrical than just getting onstage and singing a song and having some dancers back you up," Ne-Yo said. He added that the performance will incorporate many of the concepts found on his forthcoming effort.

"There's a storyline that flows through the entire album," he said. "So we're basically trying to take the story of Libra Scale and summarize it into about four minutes and put it on stage for you."

While he didn't give up too many details, the songsmith did break down the set list, which includes a spankin' new track from Libra.

"What I will say is that we're gonna be doing a medley. There's four songs in total in this whole four-minute performance. We go from 'Champagne Life' into 'One in a Million' into one of the ... newer songs off the album called 'Telekinesis' into, of course, 'Beautiful Monster' to end it all off," he said. Ne-Yo also hoped to turn the performance into a sales boost.

"Through these four songs we have figured out a way to pretty much tell the full story of Libra Scale," he said. "Or leave people just intrigued enough to go get the album when it comes out."

As an AMA vet, Ne-Yo was also looking forward to not only throwing down on stage, but just checking out the star-packed event and enjoying himself.

"One of the cool things about the AMAs is the fact that there's so many different genres crammed into one fantastic night," he said. "You can get a little bit of R&B, a little bit of hip-hop, a little bit of country. Me being a person that's very versatile in my musical choices and tastes, this is the perfect show for me. I enjoy coming. This is my ... fourth or fifth time and it never gets old. I'm gonna have a good time."

Nearly a decade in and "Harry Potter" filmgoers can't get enough — a fact which was proved by the massive box-office showing of the latest flick in the franchise, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1."

Powered by a $24 million haul from the movie's midnight showings, which was the third highest midnight-screening debut of all time, the film netted $61.1 million on Friday. Fans sporting "Potter" garb and brandishing pretend wands have swarmed theaters, and experts predict that the penultimate installment in the series could ring up over $100 million its debut weekend.

Action junkies were still able to get their fix at theaters with "Unstoppable," which arrived in second place on Friday. Denzel Washington and Chris Pine's locomotive-themed adventure pulled down a little over $4 million dollars. The film's haul now stands at around $33 million as the thriller kicks off its second weekend on screens.

Third-place flick "Megamind" was hot on the heels of "Unstoppable." The comedian-packed animated hit scored $3.7 million as the flick, which stars Will Ferrell and Tina Fey, headed into the weekend. The movie's total estimated haul is skyrocketing toward $100 million, with $97 million picked up since its debut in early November.

Zach Galifianakis and Robert Downey Jr.'s cross-country trek "Due Date" continued to cruise along in the top five. Audiences handed over $2.9 million Friday to check out the odd couple's journey to deliver Downey's character in time for the birth of his child. The Friday figure kicks the movie's estimated haul to around $66 million.

"The Next Three Days" opened in fifth place on Friday. Russell Crowe's turn as a determined husband who plots to spring his wife — played by Elizabeth Banks — from jail scored $2.2 million on screens.

Check out everything we've got on "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1," "Unstoppable" and "Megamind."

'American Idol' Moving To New Night

As its tenth season nears, "American Idol" continues to shake things up.

Fox announced on Friday that in January the amateur-talent juggernaut will now air on Wednesdays and Thursdays after launching from a Tuesday-night slot for years. According to the network's 2010 to 2011 midseason schedule, Tuesdays will lead with "Glee" at 8 p.m., followed by "Raising Hope" and a new sitcom "Mixed Signals."

The lineup change is the latest in a slew of revamps to the Fox hit. The buzzed-about judges' panel was completely overhauled and now includes Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler alongside "Idol" veteran Randy Jackson. The minimum age limit was also lowered to 15. In addition, the show will no longer whittle down the finalists from 24 to 12, and instead just introduce a dozen singers for fans to vote for. Tenth-season hopefuls will also be tasked with crafting memorable visuals as part of a brand new music video competition.

Lythoe has dished on how Tyler and Lopez are approaching their new gigs, praising them for their serious take on the job. He also added that longtime critic Jackson is stepping up his game and providing pithy insight.

"Randy is pulling his weight," Lythgoe said recently. "He really has stepped up. He's essentially come out of himself. He's enjoying being in that position."

Lopez has also said that next season with show will be more forgiving with auditioners, and try not to let panicky nerves get in the way of recognizing a talented hopeful.

"I don't want to let anybody really great [not make it through] because they're nervous, and not get to see what they could have did," Lopez said in September. "They're going to come in here and be a little bit nervous in the beginning, and then you realize, 'Wow, that person is really talented.' So we work them a little bit more than maybe you've seen in the past. We've given them more of a chance."

Kate Nash Hypnotizes Crowd At New York City Concert

NEW YORK — Friday night's Kate Nash concert at Terminal 5 in New York City began with an indoor thunderstorm.

Colorful curtains blew around at the back of the stage, and music could be faintly heard playing behind the rumble. As the thunder grew louder, lightening strobe lights covered the room and the star of the night, Nash, ran onstage with her band. Guitar in hand, Nash ignited her show with "I Just Love You More," from her latest album, My Best Friend Is You. Judging by the deafening volume of the crowd's screaming, there seemed to be a competition throughout the evening of who loved who more: Nash or her cheerful fans.

Keeping it classy in a shiny, blue short skirt over a tight, black bodysuit, Nash still managed to suffer from the pop star's recurring issue of wardrobe malfunction, leaving the stage three times to fix it up.

"This is making me feel like Britney Spears!" Nash blushed after returning to the stage in a black and white replacement dress.

In her highly energetic 90-minute set, Nash managed to balance music from My Best Friend with her successful debut album, Made of Bricks. She also managed to balance the various moods that her music tends to explore. In "Kiss That Grrrl," she growled a warning for her guy to keep his eyes on her. She introduced her "Skeleton Song" by advising, "You don't have to be hungry to be happy!" In "R n B Side" she taught the mostly American crowd her favorite naughty British word that rhymes with "tanker."

Shifting between her keyboard (which was literally covered in light bulbs) and her guitar stand, Nash demonstrated her multiple musical abilities. She brought out a new dimension when she began to passionately rattle off the intense poem about self image, "Mansion Song."

Despite the dominantly darker context of Nash's music, the hypnotized crowd's energy did not falter for a single moment.

"Are you afraid of a woman with an opinion?" she asked her crowd skeptically, " 'Cause I'm not!"

She finished off with her biggest hits, "Foundations" and "Merry Happy," both about collapsing relationships. She succeeded in making her New York fans "Merry Happy," as they cheered her out for an encore performance of "Pumpkin Soup." She finished the song by jumping atop her keyboard and stomping on its keys, still managing to make it sound in tune.

New Yorker Maryann Conigliaro smiled as she summed up the rather multidimensional show: "She was very cute and she was very angry."
