Lady Gaga's Born This Way Will 'Grab All The Monsters,' Akon Says

'She is amazing when it comes to just taking things to the next level,' label boss says of Gaga's 2011 release.

Earlier this year, Akon teased that Lady Gaga was working on "crazy" new tracks for her forthcoming Born This Way album. Now, Gaga's label boss has a few more details to share about the hotly anticipated LP, due in 2011.

"Well, Gaga and her follow-up, I've definitely heard [it], and what I can really tell you about it is the fact that I'm excited — and I'm hard to excite," he laughed to MTV News about the release. "I'm really hard to excite, 'cause my big question was like, 'Wow, how are you going to outdo yourself on this one? Do you realize how big you are? Do you know how big you really are? How are you going to outdo yourself?' "

Akon has no real worries about how Gaga will top herself since she's managed to do it so many times already, sonically and visually. "She's very creative. She will always find a way, always," he said. "Honestly, I think these are just appetizers as to what's to come, because what's to come, if you haven't been following her up to this point, you're going to get completely lost. Like, she is amazing when it comes to just taking things to the next level, [and] from what I've heard so far, I think she's going to be all right."

With tracks like "Telephone," "Bad Romance" and "Paparazzi" under her belt, Akon wants her fans to know that things are about to get even more epic on this new album. While he didn't say whether the album would have any Beyoncé-like collabos, he did say "maybe" when asked if he might appear on it.

"If I was going to compare it to her previous work, I would definitely say it's a notch up," he said. "It's like she's slowly taking you on to this journey down this road. If she were to just drastically do it, she probably would have lost everybody from the first album, but once the sound was created and established, now we can use that as a tool to grab all the monsters and walk them down this graveyard. It's crazy. It's amazing."

What are you expecting from Gaga's next album? Let us know in the comments!

Daniel Radcliffe Was Elated For 'Time Off' After 'Deathly Hallows'

'One side of us was very sad to finish it all but on the other hand we had been filming for a long time,' 'Harry Potter' star admits to MTV News.

There have been lots of stories about the sadness and tears shed in the final days of filming on "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1" and "Part 2." But castmembers also felt a bit of relief at having capped off a decade of "Potter" with an intense shoot on the final two films.

"Whenever people say, 'Oh, you must have been really sad on that last day,' I think, 'Well yeah. We were all knackered,' " Daniel Radcliffe recently told MTV News. "We were also quite happy to have some time off." (In fact, Radcliffe had little if any time off as he had to fly straight to New York to present at the Tony Awards with Katie Holmes after shooting wrapped.)

The franchise's shining star went on to say that emotions were high on that last day, but for many reasons.

"There was one side of us that was very sad to finish it all but on the other hand we had been filming for a long time," Radcliffe explained. "It was also the most chaotic of the films, I think, to make as well. We were jumping and changing between movies. We would be going from scene 10 one day to scene 300-something. So much changes at that point, when it comes to costume and makeup and look and all of that," he said.

"Often you'd do one scene and be getting rewrites for it, for a scene you'd be doing the next day. And because the pressure was on us so much to make these films the best, there was a slightly more panicked feel about the whole thing, which is understandable."

Check out everything we've got on "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1."

My Chemical Romance's 'Sing' Video: The Killjoys Are Dead?

In MCR's post-apocalyptic Danger Days clip, our heroes appear to be no match for their considerable foes.
By James Montgomery

In the second video from their Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys album, My Chemical Romance get dark. "Sing" is not the whiplash, DayGlo mélange of sight and sound that "Na Na Na" was. No, it's far more sinister, and with good reason.

In the clip, MCR's Killjoys roll into Battery City and launch an assault on the headquarters of Better Living Industries. The goal is to rescue the mysterious girl who was taken from them at the conclusion of "Na Na Na," and there's a pretty good chance it's a suicide mission: The Killjoys are hopelessly outmanned and overwhelmingly outgunned, and they know it. This probably won't end well and — if you haven't seen the video yet, skip ahead to the next paragraph — it doesn't. The Killjoys are cut down, and while the girl they set out to save does escape (thanks to Dr. Death Defying), it looks as if it's curtains for our heroes. Maybe.

Ultimately, "Sing" shows us just how dire a situation the Killjoys are up against, how daunting the challenge of overcoming Better Living Industries (and their leader, Korse). The odds are stacked against them. Gone is the free-spirited abandon (and blink-and-you'll-miss-them pop-culture nods) of "Na Na Na" — though to be fair, there are references to "Star Wars" and Snake Plissken to be found — replaced with a palate of murky grays and pale fluorescents. The sun seemingly does not shine in Battery City. The future is bleak indeed.

The overall feel of the video is a tribute to MCR frontman Gerard Way, who co-directed "Sing" with P.R. Brown. They know how to create an ominous, post-apocalyptic tone, one that sends shivers down your spine. There's not much fun to be had here but, as is the case with most great second acts ("The Empire Strikes Back," for example), good times really aren't the goal: This is a video that expands the Killjoy universe, that explains just how impossible — or suicidal — their mission really is. That it ends on a bummer is practically par for the course.

And yet, I have a pretty good feeling the Killjoys will return for the third Danger Days video, whatever it may be (perhaps "The Only Hope for Me is You"?) And I still suspect that, despite overwhelming odds, they'll probably triumph nonetheless. The good guys usually win in the third act, after all. I just hope they don't go the Lucas route and work some Ewoks into the mix.

What did you think of MCR's new video for "Sing"? Tell us in the comments!

Nicki Minaj is ready for prime time.

With her singles all over the charts and her debut album Pink Friday dropping next Monday, the Lil Wayne protégé is on the cusp of superstardom. Fittingly, Nicki will also be the subject of the MTV documentary "My Time Now."

The project will premiere on Sunday, November 28, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. It will also be featured on all of the MTV platforms, with exclusive previews on MTVNews.com and RapFix.MTV.com in the days leading up to it.

The doc was produced by @radical.media (who made the Drake doc "Better Than Good Enough" earlier this year) and executive produced by MTV News' Dave Sirulnick.

"Nicki Minaj has quickly emerged as one of the hottest artists in hip-hop and recently was recognized as the first female to ever make our annual Hottest MCs list," Sirulnick explained in a statement. "While her fans have gotten to know her through her music and her various social media channels, this documentary offers the world the first real intimate look at this woman who is on the verge of achieving superstardom."

"My Time Now" will follow Nicki Minaj as she travels across the country on tour and heads into the studio to write and record her Pink Friday hits.

Fans will get an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the Head Barbie in Charge in her over-the-top artist persona and also as an ambitious businessperson and a beloved family member.

Over the course of the hour-long doc — filmed over three months — the femcee will also be seen visiting her native Trinidad for the first time in seven years, purchasing her mother a new house in New York and preparing for her performance during the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards pre-show.

In the past 12 months, the lone female MC of Lil Wayne's Young Money crew has emerged as a star in her own right, stealing the spotlight with guest appearances alongside some of the biggest names in music, from Mariah Carey to Kanye West.

Her saucy rhyme styling and animated vocal delivery has earned her high-profile admirers, including Jay-Z, who invited Nicki Minaj to the stage during the New York leg of his and Eminem's Home and Home event earlier this year.

The two collaborated with each other on West's "Monster" track.

"I remember in junior high school and high school, me and my best friend, we were so obsessed with Jay," Nicki told MTV News during an appearance on "RapFix Live" last month.

"I kept thinking that all the people in the game at that time when I was little was gonna be out of the game by the time, if I did get into the game," she added. "I remember I used to be like, 'Dag, I'll never get to work with this one, I'll never get to work with that one,' and just to know that Jay is even saying something or knows me is crazy."

Are you looking forward to getting behind the scenes of Nicki's life? Let us know in the comments!

Jay-Z has been on top of the MC heap for so long you'd think he'd be fine ruling his monarchy without outside contributions.

But for his next set, Watch the Throne, Jay is making a collaborative effort with Kanye West, and the Brooklyn legend tells MTV News he's excited about the project, especially given the "Runaway" star's growing status as a hip-hop king.

"This is another level of that recording," Hov explained to us this week. "Because Kanye, I've seen him — really he's like a brother to me — I've seen him from the beginning to where he is now. And to see him as a producer and to see how he's growing as a producer and as an artist, for me, on another level, it's enjoyable. I'm watching the guy that I pretty much mentored become his own guy, with his own opinion. It's fantastic."

The project was originally slated to be an EP, but West confirmed to MTV News in October that Watch the Throne would now be a full-length release.

"We putting out a whole album now," 'Ye said. "We had done five [songs] so far, but then a few of them kind of were out there, and I put them on my album. Sorry, Jay. But we got some more, and we're going to the South of France at the end of the month to just record new ideas. But we'll probably be done with the album in a day."

The pair ventured to France last month to record material as planned, and Jay-Z revealed he and West will head out to Australia soon to finish the rest of the album. The inspired duo recently completed seven songs in three days, according to Hov.

Wiz Khalifa said he went with his gut when he turned down Drake's offer to open for him on the Light Dreams and Nightmares outing, instead embarking on his own headlining effort, the Waken Baken Tour.

With only a handful of dates left and after a series of sellouts, the Pittsburgh rapper is pretty sure he made the right call, even being named MTV News' Hottest Breakthrough MC of 2010.

"I went out on a limb and went with my gut feeling," Wiz told MTV News. "It was risky when you go for what you know, but it's really easy to take the hand from someone. Not saying I didn't want it or couldn't use it, but I figured I'd try a different method, and it ended up working for me."

Over the weekend, the "Black and Yellow" MC held court at New York's Best Buy Theater, where he was joined by his brother in arms, Curren$y, and Big K.R.I.T. for the Hot 97-sponsored showcase.

The lanky lyricist said Los Angeles and Phoenix were among the standout shows during his tour, which also featured stops in Chicago, Dallas and Atlanta. Phoenix, however, was the top moment, according to Wiz.

"Honestly, it might be weird, but Phoenix, huge reaction out there," he explained. "Every show was [great].

"It was crazy," he added. "I felt like I was on TV when I was out there."

Bristol Palin Stays, Brandy Goes: 'Dancing With The Stars' Fans React

'It's not about talent, but a popularity contest,' one MTV News commenter fumes.
By Kara Warner

With every season of "Dancing With the Stars," there are early favorites and front-runners and at least one shocking elimination. On Tuesday night, viewers got their shocker of the season (or second shock, if you're an Audrina Patridge fan) when consistent high-scorer Brandy was eliminated.

"People vote and their voices count," Brandy's partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy said after the elimination was announced. "I don't regret a second ... of being on this season. It's been an amazing journey."

"I don't know how I feel right now," Brandy said, crying.

The reactions to Brandy's departure have been coming in fast and furious since the announcement. Most commenters took issue with the fact that Brandy is gone and Bristol Palin remains in the competition.

"Brandy is so talented and she worked so hard. I was shocked she was eliminated!" Sharon wrote. "I thought the competition was really between her and Jennifer Grey. Bristol has improved but she should have been off the show weeks ago. That was painful to watch — very painful!"

"It's just a silly dance contest," John wrote. "This is a network television [show's] dream to make millions watch their shows!!! Create animosity and sparks and make people angry over the winner to get more people watching and calling. You know they're making money from all those AT&T calls ... plus the ratings are through the roof with this political angle they've cashed in on," he said, referring to the outcry that supporters of former vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin are keeping Bristol on the show.

"Bristol is no star and has no talent and should not have been picked for the finals over Brandy," commenter Marianne fumed. "Brandy did beautifully and got better each week. I can't believe Bristol's scores were more than Brandy's. This show is a hoax! It's not about talent, but a popularity contest. If Bristol wins, I'll never watch this show again!"

Other complaints brought up problems with the telephone voting system for Brandy's phone line. They claimed they couldn't get through until time ran out. Despite all the anti-Palin sentiments, a few folks came to her defense, however. "I can't believe how mean you people are, always picking on Bristol," Barbara wrote. "No, she is not the best dancer but she has progressed from a wall flower to being a confident young lady because of DWTS. She has become a 'good' dancer. It has taken a lot of courage to go on this show. At least 2 countries can vote and as many Democrats are eligible to vote as Republicans. How do you figure it's just the state of Alaska and Republicans voting?? It also has to do with personality and improvement. Brandy is a great dancer but she is a whiner and Maks is arrogant! Jennifer is a beautiful dancer and she has improved greatly. Give Bristol a break!!!!"

What do you think of the elimination? Will Palin get voted off next week? Share your thoughts in the comments!

'Glee' Super Bowl Episode To Feature Michael Jackson's 'Thriller'

Entertainment Weekly reports the MJ classic will be mashed up with a yet-to-be-chosen song.

After a string of high-profile guest stars and theme episodes, "Glee" will reportedly take on Michael Jackson's "Thriller" next in a mash-up with a yet-to-be-chosen song for the show's post-Super Bowl episode, according to Entertainment Weekly.

The episode, which will be co-sponsored by General Motors, is said to be the most expensive of the series' history and likely one of television's priciest episodes ever. Despite the cast's "Thriller" mash-up, the broadcast will not serve as a tribute episode to the late King of Pop, but will feature contemporary covers of the Black Eyed Peas, Lady Antebellum and Katy Perry.

As for how Jackson's song will be incorporated into the show, the EW source revealed that the episode will have a sports theme by focusing on the local football championship and Sue Sylvester's cheerleading regionals. The "Thriller" mash-up is expected to play onscreen during the game's halftime.

In addition to the timeless tune, Darren Criss and Dot-Marie Jones will reprise their roles as Blaine and Coach Beiste for the big time production.

Earlier this year, rumors swirled about who the post-Super Bowl episode would pay homage to, including Bruce Springsteen. However, the source admitted that the only star considered for the episode was Elton John. Gleeks can expect a tribute episode for John as one of the season's remaining episodes.

Back in August, "Glee" star Lea Michele shared her idea for the episode. "I think they are saving Justin Timberlake for the Super Bowl episode," she told The Hollywood Reporter. "They have to be, because he is so perfect for our show. He has to be on it! When I met Jessica Biel, like a loser, I asked her to tell Justin to come on our show. [Laughs.] She was a little taken aback and said, 'Um, OK. I'll tell him.' "

Eva Longoria/ Tony Parker's Divorce And Five More Surprise Celeb Splits

We were shocked by Courteney Cox and David Arquette and these other seemingly solid couples.
By Kara Warner

If recent history has taught us anything, it's that celebrity relationships are, sadly, not the most steadfast of human pairings. Not to say that all celeb couples fail, but plenty do. Still, speaking for the hopeless romantic in all of us, when a long-lasting celeb couple ends what seemed to be a happy marriage, it's an even bigger bummer.

Case in point: the recent dissolution of Eva Longoria and Tony Parker's marriage — which got us thinking about other celeb splits that hit us especially hard:

Courteney Cox and David Arquette
The couple, who were married for 11 years, announced their split last month. After the story broke, Arquette called in to Howard Stern's satellite-radio show and aired some dirty laundry, for which he later apologized. The couple reportedly plan to maintain a "business" relationship.

Christina Aguilera and Jordan Bratman
Shortly after Arquette's call to Howard Stern — within the same week — Christina Aguilera issued a statement to confirm her separation from her husband of five years, Jordan Bratman. "Although Jordan and I are separated, our commitment to our son Max remains as strong as ever," Aguilera said.

Kate Winslet and Sam Mendes
Although they claimed their split was "amicable," the announcement of Kate Winslet and Sam Mendes' breakup earlier this year was a surprise that sent the rumor mill a-turning with gossip. Mendes and Winslet have kept quiet about the reasons behind the split. They were married six years and have a son together.

Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins
After 23 years together, Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins, who have two grown sons together, announced the end of their relationship last December. Sarandon told Britain's Telegraph that the relationship had run its course. "You bring people into your life at certain times," she said. "Maybe you have a relationship to have children, and you realize that it's fulfilled after that point."

Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe
This one goes back a ways, to 2006, but when we think of surprise splits, the news of Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Philippe ending their seemingly fairytale relationship is still a bummer. The couple, who met on Witherspoon's 21st birthday, were married for seven years and have two children together.

When audiences first laid eyes on 11-year-old Emma Watson in 2001's "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone," it's doubtful many predicted the young star would become one of the most successful and highly paid actresses of her generation. Not only that, but the British ingenue has also become a budding style icon, nabbing ad campaigns for Burberry and getting involved with the fair-trade fashion brand People Tree.

When MTV News caught up with the 20-year-old, we asked how she felt about the "fashion icon" label and whether having her face plastered all over magazines and blogs creates added pressure when she's deciding what to wear.

"I keep hearing that 'fashion icon' thing, and it makes me nervous, please don't say that," Watson pleaded. "It's obviously a huge compliment but I'm suddenly aware that every outfit I wear is being analyzed."

Apart from her fancy red-carpet ensembles, Watson said she often dresses down.

"I do when I'm at college. I don't put in half as much effort as I probably should," Watson said of her casual Brown University wardrobe. "I get very lazy. But I still try to have fun with it and try not to pay too much attention and kind of enjoy it," she said.

Speaking of having fun, Watson threw us for a loop at the U.S. premiere of "Deathly Hallows - Part 1" on Monday, when we told her that her Calvin Klein dress had gotten a 90 percent approval rating from our viewers.

"Awww, really? Wow, that's such a high percentage!" she exclaimed. "Wow, I aced it, obviously. That's great."

Asked what might she do to get the full 100 percent rating, Watson had a surprising suggestion. "I don't know, take it off?" she quipped.

Check out everything we've got on "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1."

Kanye West's Dark Twisted Fantasy: Move On, Or Get Out Of The Way

Posted: 16 Nov 2010 10:20 PM PST

The story may have begun on September 13, 2009, but it ends with West's thrilling, chilling opus, in Bigger Than the Sound.
By James Montgomery

Kanye West
Photo: Jim Spellman/ WireImage

I was there the night Kanye West started writing My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. It was September 13, 2009, at the MTV Video Music Awards. You probably remember what happened that night.

Anyway, I was there, standing about 200 feet from West when he bolted onstage during Taylor Swift's acceptance speech. I heard the gasps from the celebs sitting around him and the boos from the folks up in the cheap seats. I saw him flip them the bird, stride defiantly back to his seat, throw his arm around Amber Rose. I saw Pink walk by the couple during a commercial break, say something pointed and shake her head in disgust, while her security guards tried in vain to shuffle her along.

I watched as West was escorted out into the wings of Radio City Music Hall, up a flight of stairs, where huddled members of MTV's brass (like my bosses' bosses' bosses) were waiting. I didn't hear what was said after that, but I could tell it was tense, because I was specifically told to move on by a pair of security guards in black suits who clearly weren't up for negotiation.

So, yes, I was there the night Fantasy was conceived, even if West wasn't actually scribbling down lyrics or punching drum patterns into an MPC at the time (how could he do all that and still hold his Hennessy Black?). It was the moment when 'Ye became the most-hated man in America, a rapping amalgamation of "Rowdy" Roddy Piper and Alex Rodriguez and that terrible toddler you always see in the grocery store. The implications of his VMA tantrum were so far-reaching that our current president called him "a jackass" and our 39th president ripped his behavior as "completely uncalled for."

In retrospect, the whole thing seems pretty ridiculous, but at the time, it was the biggest scandal on the planet, and 'Ye spent the next few months apologizing (and apologizing and apologizing) for what he had done ... even if, you know, what he said during his tirade was sort of right. It didn't matter. He was vilified. He became a laughingstock, a cautionary tale. People whispered that he was headed for rehab.

Instead, West decided to go into seclusion. The story refused to die. So one day, somewhere in Hawaii (or India) or wherever he was holed up, Kanye made a decision: He was done apologizing. He was finished hiding. And he didn't care what Donald Trump or Jimmy Carter had to say about him. Not anymore.

And that's when he decided to welcome us all into his Dark Twisted Fantasy. The story may have begun on September 13, 2009, but it ends right now. Because Fantasy is most definitely the last word, the final chapter. And, no, Kanye's not saying he's sorry, not even once. It is less an act of contrition than it is a declaration of independence, an unapologetic, unflinching ode to excess and depravity, a sweeping ride through thrilling highs and crushing lows, a blow-by-blow account of one man's battle to find not only himself but a balance between the immediacy of sexuality and the long-term ledger of spirituality. It is a garish theatrical spectacle, a production filled with angels and demons, ghosts and Greek choruses, kings and pharaohs, judges, juries and executioners. In other words, it is a pretty apt summation of the past 14 months of Kanye West's life: an over-the-top, too-ridiculous-to-be-real spectacle that never seemed to end.

Which is why everything on Fantasy seems to be pushed to the breaking point — and then pushed even further beyond. The beats are badder, the boasts bigger. The women are looser and the cars faster. The stakes are higher and the temperature hotter. West can't get higher or lower, angrier or hornier, steadier or more unhinged. It is a thrilling, chilling listen, not only the most jaw-dropping accomplishment of his already stellar career, but the most personal too. West has been surrounded and suffocated, tormented and judged, and he's smart enough to know that he's powerless to change the tide of public opinion. So instead, he's just going to explain himself. "Take it or leave it, believe it or not," he seems to be saying with Fantasy, "But here is who I am and this is why I do what I do."

That fearlessness, that honesty is what makes Fantasy such an incredible album. It is defiantly anti-reconciliatory. There are no olive branches extended, and if you hate Kanye for every tantrum he's thrown and you're past the point of forgiveness, then you are most definitely going to skip his new album. And it will be your loss. The bald-faced swagger of tracks like "Monster" or Power," the complex fragility of "Runaway" or "Blame Game," the lyrical scope of "Hell of a Life" or "Gorgeous," it's an embarrassment of riches and a dazzling array of accomplishments, though perhaps the most dazzling is this: With My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, Kanye West has closed the book, he has moved past his detractors, and he's done it by going deep, by being brave and bold and, yes, probably a little crazy too. Move on or get the hell out of the way because Kanye is done apologizing for what he did. Finally.

Do you think Kanye's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy represents his best work to date? Sound off in the comments!

Drake Reveals Next Album To Be Called Take Care

GQ Man of the Year tells the mag follow-up to Thank Me Later will be 'catchier.'
By Gil Kaufman

It's a long way from mixtape infamy to the cover of GQ magazine. But Drake has successfully made that transition, and in the 2010 "Men of the Year" issue of the venerable men's mag, Drizzy models some high-end Burberry and Billy Reid duds while dropping a bit of news about his next move.

Among the biggest revelations is that he's decided to call his next album Take Care. Due next spring, Drake promised his second effort will be packed with more inescapable hits like "Best I Ever Had."

"Don't think for a second I can't do better," he told the magazine. "For Take Care, I'm trying to find a way to make my raps shorter but catchier. I'm trying to condense my thoughts down to 16 bars. And it's coming out more potent."

He also explained that after the mega-hype created by his smash 2009 mixtape So Far Gone, he decided to call his major label debut Thank Me Later as a way to preemptively deflate the anticipatory hype he knew he couldn't live up to.

Among the other revelations the 23-year old Canadian MC coughs up is the story of how way back in May 2009, when he "wasn't even really Drake yet," he was robbed at double gunpoint while on a date with a girl in his hometown of Toronto. Just back from a tour, Drake said, "I knew it was a setup, because I had on a sweater and a jacket ... but when they banged on the car window with a gun and opened the door, the first thing he said was, 'Yo, run that chain.' They didn't rob her, and her purse was sitting right there. So I was like, 'OK, yup — you set the whole thing up.' "

After being relieved of $4,000 in U.S. currency and a chain that new mentor Lil Wayne had just given him, Drake said he learned a valuable lesson. From then on, he vowed to steer clear of the negative energy that can sometimes surround the rap world. Once his career began to take off a month later, he was prepared to handle it.

And while fans will have to wait a while to hear those smart-bomb tracks from Take Care, they can slake their thirst with new Drizzy courtesy of Young Money cohort Nicki Minaj, whose debut, Pink Friday, leaked online on Wednesday (November 17). The pair team up for the tune "Moment 4 Life," in which Drake teases the couple's fake Twitter marriage, rapping, "F--- it, me and Nicki getting married today/ And all you bitches hating can catch the bouquet."

What do you think of Drake's proposed next album title? Tell us in the comments!

My Chemical Romance's brand-new "Sing" video doesn't premiere until 12:01 a.m. ET on MTV.com, but you can get a sneak peek at some behind-the-scenes action right now.

Last month, MTV News was on set with the guys of MCR as they took over downtown Los Angeles in the very early morning hours to film "Sing," the second clip from their upcoming Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys album. It picks up right where the first video — the white-hot "Na Na Na" — ends, following the band's Killjoy characters as they invade Battery City (and the headquarters of the evil Better Living Industries) in an attempt to rescue a mysterious little girl from the clutches of the nefarious Korse.

Do they succeed in their mission? Well, to be honest, we're not sure if they succeed or not, mostly because, on the day we stopped by, MCR were busy burning rubber up and down a L.A. tunnel in their Killjoy Trans Am — they do all their own stunts, for the record — shooting several scenes in which they peel out, peer menacingly and, most awesomely, bust right on through a checkpoint manned by Blind Industry soldiers (and at least one Draculoid).

It looked like it was a blast, and in between takes, MCR frontman Gerard Way — who co-directs the video along with P.R. Brown — watched replays and laughed, almost as if he couldn't believe he was being allowed to get away with this.

And then, daylight came and shooting was over. Trust us, we're waiting to see how this whole thing plays out too. But before the big premiere — again, it's at 12:01 am ET on MTV.com — check out our behind-the-scenes look at the making of My Chemical Romance's "Sing."

What are you expecting from the latest MCR video? Let us know in the comments!

When Flo Rida was growing up, he had aspirations of becoming a rap superstar. But the aspiring MC knew he would have to introduce himself to the world of hip-hop in a big way. On the latest episode of "When I Was 17," which also features actresses Melissa Joan Hart and Alison Sweeney, the 31-year-old star reminisces about his teenage years and reveals how he came up with his all-too-recognizable stage name.

Before skyrocketing as a solo artist, Flo (born Tramar Dillard) was a part of a rap group. But even then, he knew he had to create an identity for himself that would let him stand out within the band.

"When I was 17, to be a part of a group like the Groundhoggz, you definitely have to come up with a name," the MC recalls.

Flo Rida, who was going by a different name in those days, explains that one of his friends urged him to come up with a new alias.

"At first, I was going by the name of Ruckus Pimp," Flo recalls. "I just thought that was like a little bit out there, so I went to over to my boy's house. He's just like, 'Man, we got to come up with a name today.' "

The MC explains that he brainstormed for a while before finally taking inspiration from the place he grew up, the Sunshine State. "So, OK, I sat up there for about an hour and finally, it hit me," he says. "Take Florida, break it in half and there you go: Flo Rida."

"When I Was 17" — this week featuring Flo Rida, Melissa Joan Hart and Alison Sweeney — premieres Saturday at 11 a.m. on MTV

Nicki Minaj Hints Lil' Kim Is 'Roman's Revenge' Target

'My fans know who I'm talking about,' MC tells Wendy Williams.

Nicki Minaj stopped by "The Wendy Williams Show" on Wednesday (November 17) to talk about her debut LP Pink Friday, but ultimately hinted at the target of the song "Roman's Revenge."

"When you put out records, only the guilty ones feel like you're talking about them," Minaj said. "If you have nothing to worry about, if you never came out saying stuff, if you never came out saying your ungrateful bullsh--, then you wouldn't worry about it."

On "Roman's Revenge," featuring a rowdy verse from Eminem as Slim Shady, Nicki embodies her Brit character, Roman Zolanski. "Word that bitch mad 'cause I took the spot/ Well, bitch, if you ain't sh---ing, then get off the pot/ Got some n---az out in Brooklyn that'll off your top," Minaj rhymes on the track.

Many hip-hop fans assumed Barbie was talking about Lil' Kim, even the Brooklyn MC herself. While Nicki initially said that she was "talking about everyone who has been in interviews talking," her chat with Williams hinted that she was aiming for a certain Queen Bee.

Still, Nick seemed like she was tired of the topic.

"I don't get into that. ... I feel like my music, my fans know everything that's going on," she told the talk-show host. "Every time I talk, every time I spit raps, my fans know who I'm talking about, what I'm talking about. I don't have to sit up here and detail it. No. For what?"

Also during the interview, Nicki got personal, admitting that her father burned down her family's house when she was a child.

"He did burn the house down. ... And my mother was in the house, and she had to run out the last minute," Nicki revealed. "But she had a dream the night before that the house was gonna be burned down, so me and my brother weren't in the house. She had us sleep at a friend's house. At like 3:00 that morning, they were like, 'You gotta go down to your house, 'cause something's happening.' We were young, so ... we ran four or five blocks, and we just saw smoke."

Nicki also added that her parents are still together, before acknowledging that her crazy characters evolved naturally.

"When I first started rapping, I felt like I had to be someone," she admitted. "Everybody was telling me, 'Be this way. You're from Queens, be hard.' But, that wasn't really me, that's not who I wanted to be. When I changed the people who were around me, I just started being free, and I was like, you know what, I've always been animated, I've always been crazy."

'Deathly Hallows' Kiss Got Daniel Radcliffe In 'Trouble' With Emma Watson

'It was vigorous,' Radcliffe tells MTV News of the Harry/Hermione make-out session.

Emma Watson will be the first to admit that her kiss with Daniel Radcliffe in "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1" is a seriously passionate one.

"It is full-on," she recently told MTV News. "Actually, I forgot how full-on it was until I saw the movie, and I was like, 'Blimey, where did that come from?' "

Full-on it may have been, but that doesn't mean she wants her co-star going around gushing about the intense onscreen experience.

"I've just been getting into so much trouble with Emma about this, because apparently I said in an interview that she was like an animal," Radcliffe told us. "I thought it was going to be a kind of a slow, sensual thing, and Emma really went for it."

The scene takes place rather late in the film, when Ron (Rupert Grint) is in the midst of fighting off a darkly magical Horcrux that manifests hallucinations of his greatest fears — one being the prospect of Harry (Radcliffe) and Hermione (Watson) making out. Ron watches in horror as his two pals, naked and covered in silver glitter, swap a whole lot of spit.

"It was kind of weird. It is a bit like kissing your sister," Radcliffe admitted. "I'm not complaining! It was good. It was vigorous."

He added, "For me, I wasn't too freaked out. But it's a bigger deal for Emma. I think it generally is a bigger deal for girls."

The scene was just one in which Radcliffe had to strip down to his skivvies. Early on, in an attempt to escape some Death Eaters, the Order of the Phoenix hatches a plan to create, via a nifty potion, multiple versions of Harry — all of whom then have to strip down and dress in Potter's duds. Later, Harry doffs his clothes and dives into a freezing pond to fetch the Horcrux. In short, there's a whole lot of nudity going on.

"I'm just continually stripping in this film," Radcliffe laughed. "[J.K. Rowling] said to me, when she came to see 'Equus' [a play in which he stripped naked], 'I'm going to write you naked in the seventh film now.' I said, 'That's a joke!' And she did!"

Check out everything we've got on "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1."

Dr. Dre, Eminem's 'I Need A Doctor' Hits The Net

Em takes his mentor to task for his perfectionist ways on emotionally charged Detox track.

Eminem turned to Dr. Dre to help him get out of his funk when the two hit the studio to work on the Detroit lyricist's post-hiatus comeback LP, Relapse. Now, it looks like the tables have turned.

On Dre's "I Need a Doctor" — the second leak in as many days from the producer's long-awaited Detox — Em lowers the boom on his mentor saying his "perfectionist" rep is leaving the legend stuck in the mud.

"It hurts when I see you struggle/ You come to me with ideas/ You say they're pieces, so I'm puzzled," Eminem raps over the Alex da Kid produced-number. " 'Cause the sh-- I hear is crazy/ But you're either getting lazy/ Or don't believe in you no more/ Seem like your own opinion is not one you can form/ Can't make a decision/ You keep questioning yourself, second guessing, it's almost like you're begging for my help/ Like I'm your leader, you're supposed to be my mentor/ I can endure no more/ Don't you remember who you are."

Throughout the track, an emotionally charged Eminem references his own struggles and Dre's assistance and notes the super-producer's personal troubles as well, citing his son's death. Dre then rhymes about the pair's history, from "Guilty Conscience" to his own indecisiveness.

"Went through friends, some of them I put on, but they just left," Dre raps. "They said they was riding to the death/ But where the f--- are they now, now that I need them?/ I don't see any of them, all I see is Slim."

Last month, Eminem revealed he and Dre were in the studio, presumably putting the final touches on Detox. "I'm in the studio with Dre now, let's just say that," Em said in an interview on his Shade 45 satellite radio station. "Pretty soon he's going to make a beat and I might rap on it."

J. Cole Says Drake Initiated 'In The Morning' With Text

MC talks to Mixtape Daily about Friday Night Lights collaboration: 'It's the perfect song for us to get on first.'

The old adage is that great minds think alike, and regarding the J. Cole and Drake collabo "In the Morning," the saying couldn't be more true.

The two young MCs finally linked up on the track from Cole's recently released mixtape, Friday Night Lights. It happened as a result of a budding friendship between the two, despite blog fodder that the rhyme slingers don't get along.

"I got a text from Drake," Cole told Mixtape Daily. "Now, I kind of just let people say what they say on the Internet or when they have discussions, but the real truth is me and Drake are cool, and have been cool and have been building a relationship. But he hit me when I was in Paris [on a tour], like, 'Yo, I just heard this "In the Morning." ' He had just heard it for the first time. He said it was so good that he told me some wild story, you know those exaggerated stories, like 'I need better beats,' just one of those type of things, giving me props."

Cole originally recorded "In the Morning" in 2007 in his bedroom, featuring three of his own verses. The track almost made one of the North Carolina rapper's previous mixtape efforts, but he held onto it before it eventually leaked to the Web.

When Drake sent him a message, however, he told the Toronto lyricist he had actually been thinking about reworking "In the Morning." Cole said Drake responded: "Save me 16."

When Cole hit Stateside, he reached out to the song's producers, L&X Music, and requested the file. He said he tweaked it with a breakdown and some other additions to "take it to the next level."

Drake sent Cole his verse earlier this month, Cole released the record Thursday, and was aflutter over the Roc Nation signee and the Young Money solider finally doing a song together.

"The rumors of tension [between us] were so high, I thought it was cool to break the ice with that type of record," Cole said of the slow burner.

"And like [Drake] said, it's the perfect song for us to get on first," he added. "Because everyone is expecting 'Brooklyn's Finest,' and I don't know if it's like that. [Drake] said it himself: We got a long time to do those records."

Akon Weighs In On New Michael Jackson Tracks

Their collaboration, 'Hold My Hand,' was 'preapproved,' Akon tells MTV News about Michael track.
By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Kelly Marino

There has been much debate over the release of new music by Michael Jackson, set for release on his album Michael, due out December 14. Some fans and some of Jackson's collaborators, such as will.i.am, have spoken out about the release of the tracks, many of which were finished after Jackson's death. It's an argument that Akon, who worked with Jackson on the song "Hold My Hand," understands.

"Michael Jackson's new album and the new releases, of course, there's been comments about whether or not [it] should actually be released or whether it would reflect his true authenticity, but naturally because of the fact he's not here to see it through, it definitely wouldn't reflect what he had in mind for it because there's other minds working for him," Akon told MTV News about the tracks. "But I think at the end of the day, we have two choices: We can put out the little that we do have to hold onto, or we can just never ever put it out again. ... The material that he did have that was finished, he would have loved to put it out.

"[The songs] were created by him, now whether or not they were finished by him is a different story," he added. "And that's just a collective effort of all of us. It's a double-edged sword."

Akon points out that one of those finished tracks is "Hold My Hand," making the argument that his contribution to the album is Jackson-approved.

"If he was here today, I think he would definitely approve of 'Hold My Hand,' because it was already preapproved," he said. "But the rest of the songs, I'm not quite sure how far those songs went 'cause Michael's a perfectionist. He wouldn't let anything go unfinished. Me knowing him from my standpoint of viewing him, I'm not quite sure, because he won't stop; he will go and go until there's not one doubt left in his mind that this record is perfect.

"So, I hope he would [have approved of the album], then again, you never know. He's the only one that can answer that question."

Do you think the tracks should be released? Sound off in the comments below.
