Lil Wayne has been giving his fans glimpses of his first day of freedom with a series of pictures, and the latest shows the I Am Not a Human Being MC partaking in a little business and pleasure.

In the newest pic, which DJ Scoob Doo tweeted on Thursday (November 4), the megastar spitter checks out the video for his "Steady Mobbin' " collabo with Gucci Mane. The duo's respective legal entanglements forced the MCs to film each part of the video separately, and the picture shows Wayne viewing the clip, which premiered over the summer during Wayne's eight-month bid, for the first time; he also got a first glimpse at his "I'm Single" video.

In the photo, Wayne views the video on a laptop resting on a grand piano and appears to be focusing intently on the clip, his plate of fresh fruit untouched and covered in plastic wrap. However, Weezy does appear to indulge in a smoke, clutching what appears to be a cigar, with a plateful of ashes lying by the computer.

Young Money President Mack Maine informed MTV News during his "RapFix Live" interview that over the next few days, Wayne will hang out with family, fly to Arizona on Friday for a court date and celebrate his release with a blowout bash in Miami on Sunday.

"There's a lot of smiles, I'm pretty sure some people are gonna be crying. ... It's just going to be mixed emotions and a lot of just rejoicing," Maine said of the expected vibe among Weezy's inner circle as they welcome him back. Lil Wayne Faces Post-Prison Challenges, Expert Says

Posted: 05 Nov 2010 03:52 AM PDT

'The danger is when you have been deprived of something and then get it in excess,' psychotherapist tells MTV News.
By Gil Kaufman

Imagine going instantly from eight months in pitch-black darkness into the blazing sunlight. Or starving yourself and then sitting down at an endless buffet with every kind of rich food you can imagine.

That may be what rapper Lil Wayne felt like Thursday (November 4) as he celebrated his release from prison after eight months behind bars, including a final stretch in solitary, according to psychotherapist Allison Bobick, director of student advancement at New York's Touro College Graduate School of Social Work.

"The danger is when you have been deprived of something and then get it in excess, you swallow it and take it up in excess and it becomes a rush, it becomes an extreme version," said Bobick, who specializes in anxiety and bereavement and who works with an internship program at Touro that gives ex-cons help in getting their masters in social work. "They're both extremes, and whenever you have those extremes, it prohibits you from living a healthy lifestyle."

WEEZY WATCH

Bookmark weezywatch.mtv.com for MTV News' complete, round-the-clock coverage of Lil Wayne's prison release and the ensuing homecoming celebrations.

Bobick said rather than the normal balance of being alone sometimes and spending some time with family and friends, Wayne faces going from complete solitude to suddenly being thrust in front of dozens of people and, if he shows up, as rumored, at Drake's show Saturday in Las Vegas, thousands of people.

"You get lost in there somewhere," she cautioned. "You're nobody's or you're everybody's, and that's an extreme way of living." Though many prisoners face self-esteem issues after their release because of the shame they feel for spending time behind bars, or anxiety when someone asks about their incarceration, it's possible Wayne may not have those same issues. As a world-famous rapper with an eff-the-world attitude and a career that stayed afloat while he was at Rikers thanks to his Young Money cohorts and a hit album, I Am Not a Human Being, Weezy should be able to step right back into the limelight without worries about how his fans are perceiving him.

But the more dangerous pitfall for Wayne — who has never shied away from rapping about his love of illegal substances — is the potential of using those drugs as a crutch to deal with his intense emotions, Bobick said. "If he is already someone who has a difficult time coping with his emotions and he has to numb them, now you go from the emotion of complete isolation to a massive embrace," she said. "Those are strong emotions, and you won't necessarily be able to cope any better than in the past, and it may be even more intense."

Because a prison sentence — especially one that involves time in solitary, as well as the kind of segregated protective custody famous people like Wayne are subject to for their own safety — is such an isolating experience, Bobick said Wayne may also find that those around him are unable to fully grasp his emotions upon release.

"For people to cope in the world and to be emotionally and mentally healthy, you need intimacy in your life, and that's somebody knowing you," she said. "When you're onstage, you may be loved, but it's not like you're known. It's like Michael Jackson: loved by millions, known by none. Nobody knows what you experienced, and even if they give you a welcome party, there's a piece missing. Is someone asking, 'How was it for you?' Is anyone asking how he tolerated those eight months? I wonder if he will suffer from that because of the extremes. Will it really hit home and will he feel loneliness or isolation?"

Miley Cyrus' 'The Big Bang' Video Might Become Movie

Rock Mafia's Tim James reveals producers are working on story lines based on the clip, also starring Kevin Zegers.

Car crashes. Sexy make-out scenes. Ghostly visions. To sum it up, Miley Cyrus and Kevin Zegers got our hearts racing when they appeared as lovers in Rock Mafia's video for their retro-tinged track "The Big Bang." And, when MTV News spoke with Tim James, who sings the vocals on the track that his team, Rock Mafia, helped create, he teased there might be a bigger plan in the works.

"They're actually talking about a movie. I'm excited about that too," James dished. "There's a couple of producers putting together story lines and stuff. That's really exciting."

And, he says there's talk of Miley and Kevin starring.

As for the idea that Rock Mafia score the flick — that is, if Hollywood Crush can help broker the deal — James exclaimed, "Now you're really talking! Now you're making my day!"

Miley herself offered to appear in the video, which has fans' tongues wagging, for the production team who worked with her on "Can't Be Tamed," "Who Owns My Heart" and "See You Again."

"The whole idea was to do something different," James explained. "[The director] had such a cool vision for it ... the vision was to let it fly, let the chemistry speak for itself. When we were watching them shoot it, we were like, 'Wow, this is going to be really cool.'

"Kevin and [Miley] both brought their real acting game to it. ... The chemistry is not by accident. You can feel it, and it's intense," he continued. "I'm really proud of both of them."

And, he's just as proud of the song itself. "I wish they grew on trees," he joked. "I wish I had 100 of them like it. It's really a special record. We wanted to do something that was classic, that felt like an old vinyl from the '70s that nobody ever heard. It was an experiment in that aesthetic."

As for working with Miley, James has one thing he wants everyone to know: "There's nothing manufactured with that girl!"

"It's weird 'cause [the Miley in the video] is like the Miley that I'm used to hanging out with," he said. "So, it's cool that this [video] can give her a good look that I think has been underused.

"I'm stoked for her. She comes by the studio a lot and just jams with us — that's my favorite. She's so dope. People need to know it. What she can do is cool, so I'm really excited to let people see her artistic side. As she keeps growing, she's going to do cool stuff. She really is her own person."

Tina Fey Got 'Lightheaded' While Voicing 'Megamind' Character

'I would kind of hyperventilate,' she says of imagining falling off buildings and other action scenes.

Given all the high-profile names attached to animated films these days — particularly Dreamworks' upcoming "Megamind," featuring the vocal stylings of Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill and David Cross — it stands to reason that there is something highly appealing to the art of voice acting, aside from a great script and a paycheck, of course.

When MTV News caught up with two of the big names in question, Ferrell and Fey, we asked them to compare and contrast the arts of voice acting vs. regular acting.

"You can kind of look at it a lot of different ways," Ferrell said. "You are isolated [during the recording process], you're slightly on this island. But at the same time, you get this huge amount of creative freedom in terms of you can kind of go anywhere you want to. And that's the huge selling point of working on something like this."

Fey agreed, adding that she found certain action scenes in "Megamind" to be a lot more involved than she thought.

"Having to imagine that you're up on top of a building and falling off, and being caught and swept back up, and trying to imagine all that," she explained. "I can say that every time we had to do that stuff, I would kind of hyperventilate and get a little lightheaded."

"[You] almost pass out," Ferrell said.

Speaking of lightheadedness and playing supervillains, we had to ask Ferrell how a meeting between Megamind and "Zoolander" baddie Mugatu would pan out.

"Well, I think Megamind would kind of run circles around Mugatu," Ferrell said. "He's just evil in the fashion world, so he doesn't really have any powers."

"Mugatu would probably respect Megamind's look, though," Fey offered.

"Yeah, they probably would become great friends," Ferrell said.

Lil Wayne Requested Beats Just Before Leaving Prison

Before he was released from prison Thursday (November 4), Lil Wayne made it clear he would be focused on one thing as a newly freed MC: music.

Young Money president Mack Maine revealed to MTV News, during his "RapFix Live" interview on Wednesday, that Weezy spent their final conversation while he was locked up just rhyming, pushing for tracks to jump on as soon he was out.

"He rapped to me. The whole time, he rapped. He rapped a lot of different songs and just kept telling me, 'Mack, I need beats.' So the main ... priority when he comes home is to make sure he has tracks," Maine said. The Young Money exec added that Wayne was in top form, sounding "crazy" and "amazing."

Maine described Wayne as "hungry" and maintained the MC's humility remains the key to his success.

"Wayne treats every project like it's his first and that's way he keeps winning, [he] don't ever get comfortable," he said. "Wayne stays in the studio longer than anyone I know in the game."

Maine likened Weezy's superhuman work ethic to another superstar at the top of his game: NBA phenomenon Kobe Bryant.

"Kobe stays and practices, like, two hours after everyone leaves, after practice ends, and Wayne does the same exact thing. He might stay in the studio like 15 hours, like, honestly from 12 that night to like 1 the next day, the next afternoon," he said. Maine added that the megastar spitter goes at his craft "as if he never made a dollar from music."

Ultimately, Maine chalks up Weezy's enthusiasm to his love of the game.

"He really enjoys what he does," he said. "He doesn't treat it like work."

Kanye West Teases My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy Covers

The artwork for Kanye West's forthcoming My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy album has already made headlines for its controversial imagery. West stood by the original George Condo-painted portrait of a nude, winged woman mounting a grimacing Yeezy but later added that he would roll out five different covers to accompany the album.

On Thursday (November 4), fans got a chance to see the range of artwork found in the packaging for the artist's fifth LP when he held a Ustream broadcast promoting the November 22 release.

About six minutes into the half-hour live stream, West whipped out the crimson album packaging while fielding questions from DJs and journalists. The cover of the packaging features a pixilated version of the album's original brouhaha-sparking artwork that obscures the detail of the image, transforming the painting into a multicolored gradient of squares with a gilded border.

The album casing appears to be made of a paper foldout similar to his Graduation record, which boasted involved visuals from celebrated Japanese pop artist Takashi Murakami. As the "Runaway" rapper opens the covering, the inside flaps seem to be emblazoned with golden inscriptions that could possibly be the track list, including one fold that appears to read "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" in ornate lettering. Tucked away in one of the pockets are the alternative album covers, which include the Condo-crafted images from his "Power" and "Runaway" singles. The scenes appear to be interchangeable as well, as the "Lost in the World" MC swaps out one image for a depiction of a menacing, deconstructed close-up of an African-American man, presumably West, as the center of the album's cover.

West broke down the creation of his first album image to MTV News at the Los Angeles premiere of his "Runaway" short and gushed about Condo's interpretation of West's original concept.

"I told [Condo] I wanted a phoenix, and that's what he came up with. And what I love about it is, both me and George express ourselves with our truest vision, not based on what society or culture feels is right, but what's truly in our heart," West said. "And I just know if George was in my class back when I was in kindergarten, and he came up with something like that, I would've been envious, like, 'Man, how did you come up with that character with no arms and the wings, man? That's cool!' ... And it's simply like that. I just really love the colors. I thought the colors were just amazing, and the imagery was amazing. I thought it was a cool, awesome cover."

Fans will get to fiddle with the album's intricate packaging when Twisted Fantasy lands on shelves at the end of the month.

What's Next For Demi Lovato?

Demi Lovato is seeking treatment for what has been described as "emotional and physical issues," but the Disney star will have a number of high-profile gigs waiting for her once she recovers.

Lovato, who turned 18 in August, has always had a full docket of projects, between her music and acting careers. More episodes of the Disney Channel's "Sonny With a Chance" are headed down the pipeline, including a holiday episode set to air later this month that features a very special cameo from onetime tourmate and ex-boyfriend Joe Jonas.

But Lovato has also been focusing on her music, including an in-the-works third album. She's admitted that she wants to step away from her love of rock music and try out a more "radio-friendly" sound. She revealed some unexpected cameo ideas, too, when she spoke to MTV News this past summer.

"I would love for Drake to be on the album," Lovato shared. "It's kind of like a pipe dream. I would also like to do a song with Trey Songz. It would be hot! Yeah, it would be really good."

The singer added that she wanted to show off her big voice on the upcoming record. "It's really nice to embrace it," she said. "I grew up singing R&B and then I grew up listening to rock, so it was kind of weird. But I'm kind of learning how to incorporate the two and I'm having a good time with it."

Lovato has said she's open to following up the first two smash "Camp Rock" flicks with a third, maybe even on the big screen.

"We don't know! It could be. It could be the end," she teased MTV News about a "Camp Rock 3." "It could be the next chapter! I would love to see another 'Camp Rock' movie happen. That could be a really cool step. It might come to a point where we're all doing our own things or maybe it doesn't work because 'Camp Rock' is now closed. You never know, so you'll just have to find out," she revealed. "Maybe I'm just trying to throw you off."

Share your well-wishes for Demi in the comments.

Lil Wayne is finally out of prison, and according to his close friend, the experience has changed the MC in some significant ways.

During his recent "RapFix Live" sit-down, Young Money chief and longtime Wayne homie Mack Maine laid out some of the habits the superstar spitter picked up in the pen. Maine said the New Orleans rapper, whose inventive lyricism made him one of hip-hop's most respected MCs, turned to literature during his prison bid.

"As far as a change, he's reading more. Before, he didn't really read a lot," Maine said. "He would rather watch it on a movie or something or watch it on television."

Weezy's pre-prison aversion to writing his lyrics on paper, keeping his rhymes in his head instead, has changed as well.

"He's writing. He's writing music now. Everyone knows that Wayne didn't write before he went in," Maine said, adding that it was difficult to commit all of his words to memory while he was locked up. "[He's been] incarcerated for eight months. You can't remember eight months of material up top."

Maine also assured fans they can expect "a new-and-improved, hungry Wayne" who's armed with scholarly skill to back up his innate creativity.

In addition to beefing up his intellect, Maine said the Grammy-winning megastar insisted he was pumping up his physique.

"Honestly, he's been working out, and I can't really tell, because he has a big jumper on. He said he got an eight-pack though," Maine said. "He said he been on his grizzly. He got a situation going on, 'Jersey Shore.' "

Pitt 'loved' voicing animated Metro Man, Tom McGrath tells MTV News, as co-star Ben Stiller jokes they wanted to give A-lister 'a break.'

"Megamind," DreamWorks' latest animated comedy, hits theaters on Friday, with a star-studded Hollywood cast that includes Will Ferrell, Ben Stiller and Brad Pitt. And while funnymen Ferrell and Stiller are no strangers to comedic work, A-list actor Pitt is a bit of a newbie to the genre.

The film tells the story of a super-villain named Megamind, voiced by Ferrell, who has repeatedly attempted — and failed — to conquer Metro City. Instead, the town's studly hero Metro Man (Pitt) has managed to defeat him every time.

Although Pitt has played a multifaceted range of characters onscreen, until the role of Metro Man came along, he had yet to add an animated hero to his résumé. When MTV News caught up with "Megamind" director Tom McGrath and co-star/ executive producer Stiller, the two men explained what made the part appealing to Pitt.

"He loved the idea. He loved the character and playing that kind of character that has a couple levels to him," McGrath said. "You know, he's not just the cardboard hero, he's got another layer to him — not to give anything away — and he's funny."

Pitt's reputation as one of the most attractive men in the movie business certainly was not a consideration when the decision was made to cast him in the animated flick. Stiller said he thought he would actually be doing Pitt a favor by offering him this kind of role.

"We wanted to give him a break. We felt like he could use a boost right now in his career," Stiller joked. "We figured things aren't really popping with the on-camera work, maybe the voice thing will get him something. So I'm hoping he'll owe us for this one."

A day before his biggest star was sprung from Rikers Island prison in New York on Thursday (November 4), Young Money president Mack Maine sat down for a special edition of MTV News' "RapFix Live" to map out what Lil Wayne's first 72 hours of freedom will look like.

"His mom's been calling during this interview. She just flew in and, basically, he's gonna wanna chill with his family, his kids, too," Maine told host Sway on Wednesday.

Before he kicks off a full-on celebration with family and friends, however, there is one piece of official business Wayne (born Dwayne Carter) does have to deal with and that relates to his drug case in Arizona.

While Wayne was in Rikers, a plea deal was reached in a case stemming from a January 2008 arrest near a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint in which authorities claimed they found cocaine, Ecstasy and a handgun on Weezy's tour bus. The "Lollipop" rapper was sentenced to three years of unsupervised probation and no jail time thanks to the deal, which had him plead guilty to one count of possession of a dangerous drug in exchange for the dismissal of three other drug and weapons charges.

"Even though it's treated as a felony while he's on probation, if he completes his probation without any violations the offense will be re-designated as a misdemeanor," Wayne's Arizona attorney, James Tilson, told MTV News earlier this week.

Maine said Wayne has to fly out to Arizona on Friday to sign papers in that case and appear in court. But other than that legal obligation, his first weekend of freedom will be about getting things back to normal.

Maine promised that Weezy and company are going to be "partying like crazy" for the next little bit, including a welcome home party in Miami at the King of Diamonds strip club this weekend. "Everybody is going to be happy to see him and, of course, we have parties coming up."

When asked if part of that celebration will include the rumored drop-in by Wayne at Drake's last tour stop in Las Vegas on Saturday, Maine played it close, saying, "I don't know. If he goes, it's a surprise. If he doesn't, then we're going to see everyone in Miami."

Back in the day, fan mail used to be the basic means of communicating with your favorite stars, but with the dawn of Twitter, having them follow you is pretty much the equivalent. While some celebrities may be hesitant to accept their legion of fans onto their timeline, Nicki Minaj is an exception.

On Thursday (November 4), the Harajuku Barbie announced a Twitter contest where she'll follow 100 lucky fans who help promote her forthcoming album, Pink Friday.

"TMRW I'm follwng 100 ppl. Take a pic wearing pink, holding a sign that says #itspinkfridayhoe & tweet #NickiMinajPinkFriday. Starts 9amEST," she tweeted.

The Young Money MC was playful, telling fans how to get an edge over their competitors: "Thongs will get special consideration in tmrw's competition but u MUST be 18 & Over to show ur ass cheeks. (Goes for boyz & BARBZ) lmaooooo."

Minaj has been known to use her Twitter account for more than just direct fan communication. In August, the lyricist teamed up with Drake to play a little joke on their fans, announcing that the two had tied the knot. The news set the blogosphere on fire until the duo revealed their innocent intentions and annulled the Twitter marriage.

Recently, Minaj admitted she'd been afraid to release her debut album, Pink Friday, which comes out November 22. Regardless of her early fears, the Young Money rapper told YRB magazine that the completed product erased any hesitation.

"I know that Pink Friday is a classic album. I have never been this proud of anything in my life," Minaj said. "I just think that it's such a dynamic body of work. I'm no longer afraid to drop it. Now, I know it's time."

Reboot begins production next month and hits theaters in July 2012.

Breaking news regarding your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man and Sony's highly anticipated reboot: Martin Sheen is in final negotiations to play Peter Parker's Uncle Ben.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the story, and a rep from Sony has confirmed the report to MTV News.

Those familiar with the comics know that Uncle Ben is an important part of the future web-slinger's life. He and his wife May take in Parker after his parents are killed and raise him as their own. Given Sheen's impressive résumé and reputation — he most recently delighted TV audiences for seven seasons with his lovable portrayal or President Jed Bartlett on "The West Wing" — Sheen seems a good fit for Uncle Ben.

Of course, if Marc Webb's reboot stays true to Spidey's history, Ben eventually meets an untimely end at the hands of a burglar. Naturally, no plot details have been revealed about the new "Spider-Man." But as far as casting, Andrew Garfield will play Peter Parker, Emma Stone will play Gwen Stacy and Rhys Ifans will play the Lizard.

Webb did admit previously that they're searching high and low for all the right actors to fill roles. "We're casting a wide net," he told MTV News. "That's really all I can say at this moment."

Other casting rumors include two actors allegedly up for the role of feisty Daily Bugle editor J. Jonah Jameson: "Mad Men" silver fox John Slattery and veteran actor Sam Elliott.

"Spider-Man" is set to begin production in December and will hit theaters in 3-D on July 3, 2012.

Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo are engaged. On Thursday (November 4), the duo shared the news in a joint statement to People.com that read, "We're excited and incredibly happy about our engagement and we look forward to a wonderful future together."

According to sources, Lachey, 36, popped the question to the former MTV "TRL" host, 29, "near a beach" in California on Thursday.

The former 98 Degrees singer, who once co-starred with ex-wife Jessica Simpson on MTV's "Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica," took to his Twitter to share the happy news with his fans.

"Hey all," he wrote. "If anyone's heard the rumors of my engagement, they are absolutely true! Vanessa and I couldn't be happier. Thanks for all the love."

The couple began dating back in 2006 and teamed up in the video for Lachey's hit solo single "What's Left of Me"; Minnillo starred as his love interest. Lachey and Minnillo suffered a romantic setback when they briefly called it quits in mid-2009, but later reunited.

In addition to celebrating their engagement in November, the duo will also celebrate their birthdays this month, as the stars both turn a year older on November 9.

Send your well-wishes for the couple in the comments!

If Paris Hilton can do it, then why not Kim Kardashian? Reports began to bubble up earlier this week about Kim's aspiring music career, and when MTV News caught up with the reality starlet at her Dash New York store opening Wednesday night, she confirmed the rumors — but not much else.

"I am having fun [with] whatever I'm doing right now," she said when asked about her musical endeavors. "I'm having fun."

Kardashian has reportedly been hitting the studio with hitmaker The-Dream (Rihanna's "Umbrella," Beyoncé's "Single Ladies"). A source told People that "they're working on some fun music," and a source reported to TMZ that "Kim's got a really good voice."

Kardashian's sisters are totally up for Kim getting into the music game, with Khloé joking, "I can tell you I am a rapper, and my name is K-Money, and I do a remix on Kim's song. And Kourtney is an opera singer; she could throw you a beat."

With so many rumors swirling about Kim's relationship with Kanye West, could it be that the rapper will appear on her musical venture? "[Kanye's] a musical genius, so I would be honored to work with Kanye," she said of any possible collaboration with the artist. "It's all in fun. We're just trying to have a good time."

Right now, Kim and her sisters are focused on their new NYC-set reality show, in which they will document the New York opening of their latest Dash outpost. And even if 'Ye doesn't appear on her album, he has the Kardashians' back in the fashion world. He even "blessed" their store at its opening.

"He's our fashion muse ... nothing happens in fashion unless Kanye blesses it," Khloé explained. "He blessed Dash New York, and look at the turn out."

Kim added, "He came to check out the store, tell us what he thinks, and he had to come to the opening."

At around 8:30 a.m. Thursday (November 4), Lil Wayne was released from prison — and it didn't take long for the MC to address his Twitter followers.

"#WelcomeHomeWeezy," he tweeted at noon. Then, at 3 p.m., the MC added "aaaaaaahhhhhhmmmmm baaaaakkkkkkkkkk."

Lil Wayne's Young Money camp is just as thrilled for their captain's return. Wayne's videographer, DJ Scoob Doo, who stopped by the MTV News offices Wednesday to chat about the MC, snapped a TwitPic of Lil Wayne Thursday. In the photo, Weezy F. Baby is seated at a desk with a laptop in front of him. As he focuses on the screen, he holds a lit cigar and a glass of something brown isn't far from reach.

Hours earlier, around 4 a.m., Young Money president Mack Maine tweeted that he was "impatiently waiting" for Wayne's release, and shortly before 10 a.m. manager Cortez Bryant wrote, "FREE AT LAST!!!!!!!"

Mack echoed Bryant moments later, writing, "Everybody go and welcome @liltunechi back.....all true weezy fans!!! The angels are rejoicing and so am I!!!!!"

Nicki Minaj also celebrated the news, writing, "Wayne's home!"

Wayne was released from Rikers Island prison after serving eight months of a year-long sentence for attempted gun possession. In March, he turned himself in to New York authorities after he struck a plea deal in his case stemming from a 2007 gun arrest near the Beacon Theatre in Manhattan.

"I would just advise you to book a ticket out there. If you can get tickets to that show on the 6th, I would strongly advise it," Drake told MTV News about the possibility of reuniting with his mentor onstage.

'Real World' Alum Sean Duffy Talks Congressional Win

Wisconsin congressman-elect says he plans to focus on job creation and working on a budget in new political role.
By Mawuse Ziegbe

Sean Duffy has gone from "Real World" castmember to political power player — and is happy to switch up his role in the public eye.

Duffy, who shot to reality-TV fame as a 25-year-old lumberjack on MTV's "The Real World: Boston" in 1997, was elected to Congress on Tuesday in his home state of Wisconsin. Now the former district attorney is ready to effect change via his spot in the U.S. House of Representatives. Duffy spoke to MTV News on Thursday (November 4) about why he decided to run for office.

"I decided to get in when Congress passed a nearly trillion-dollar stimulus bill," Duffy said. "[Previous Wisconsin] Congressman Obey, he's the one who actually authored and helped shepherd through Congress that bill. I just believe that government borrowing and spending doesn't lead to economic prosperity, growth or sustainable jobs. I know that it comes from the private sector, people who invest in their businesses and ideas. That was really the prompting that pushed me in the race."

Duffy said one of the issues he plans to tackle is the country's financial weaknesses.

"We need to work on our budget. This last year, we didn't pass a budget. We [had] a $1.3 trillion debt last year, $1.4 trillion the year before. Our national debt is $13.7 trillion. [That's] over $43,000 for every man, woman and child," Duffy said. He added that spiraling debt is saddling future generations with difficult obligations. "Our sixth child, MariaVictoria, when she was born before any of us could hand MariaVictoria to my wife Rachel, Uncle Sam stepped in and handed her a bill for $43,000."

Duffy added that other initiatives include working "on pro-growth policies that will help our small businesses fire back up and expand and grow." Duffy also said President Obama's much-debated health care initiative is already having an adverse affect on generating employment.

"What I keep hearing from our job creators is that there's too much uncertainty, coming from government, and it's come from this health care bill," he said. "People don't know what it's gonna cost to hire another employee because they don't know the cost of health care."

As a former sports competitor, prosecutor and TV star, Duffy has a varied range of experience to pull from for his political career. While his "Real World" stint may have been one of his most high-profile endeavors, the congressman-elect is largely leaving his onscreen fame in the past.

" 'The Real World,' as it applies to my life now, is I met my wife ['Real World: San Francisco' alum Rachel Campos] by way of that show. For that, I am eternally grateful. However, in regard to my campaign and whatnot, it hasn't had a large impact, just except for the fact that the national media likes to throw it out there. But in regard to my campaign and talking about ideas, it hasn't really come into play much, except for the stories that are referenced by folks," he said. "It is a chapter, but I guess you can say we've turned the page."

Demi Lovato's Treatment Isn't 'Severe,' We The Kings Say

With everyone from co-stars to experts chiming in on the recent news that Demi Lovato is seeking treatment for "emotional and physical issues," it's no surprise that the teen starlet's friend Travis Clark is sharing his two cents.

The We the Kings frontman spoke with J-14 magazine about his friend and musical collaborator, insisting the rumor mill has spun out of control.

"I saw her a few times while she was on the road when we were in the same cities, and we'd hang out," the singer told the magazine. "It was fun. We had a good time together, and she was completely happy and really outgoing. She was just the Demi that I've always known, and it was totally normal."

Clark said his recent interactions with the Disney songstress indicate that rumors and reports about Lovato have been overly dramatic.

"I know it's not a severe issue," he said. "It's been blown out of proportion, and that can really wear on anybody."

The singer/guitarist revealed to the mag that the duo talk often and said he understands the constant scrutiny that comes with the limelight.

"I speak with her frequently, so I knew [many of the rumors out there] were lies," he continued. "It's tough for any one of us to be in the public eye at all times. If I go missing for a day, people are like, 'He's entered rehab, and he's gone completely off the deep end.' It's a classic 'Don't believe everything you hear' story. Unfortunately, there are a lot of rumors and a lot of lies out there."

The frontman said that despite the ongoing speculation, it's important to be optimistic, noting that it's times like these that will bond Lovato's loved ones together.

"In a positive way, it helps bring everybody together," he said. "People are there supporting her whether it's real or not. They want her to know that they're there for her whenever she needs it. It's just about how loyal fans are."

In April, Lovato and Clark took their friendship to a new level when they teamed up for a We the Kings midtempo ballad "We'll Be a Dream." The song, written by Clark, served as the band's second single off their album Smile Kid.

LCD Soundsystem's 'Pow Pow' Video Premieres -- Watch It Here!

Anna Kendrick collects men in sultry, mysterious new clip directed by filmmaker David Ayer.

The new video from LCD Soundsystem featuring their song "Pow Pow" packs a visual punch — partly because of the sultry set and production design, but mostly because of a mysterious story line starring protagonist Anna Kendrick.

The clip, which premiered on MTV.com Thursday (November 4), opens with the words "at midnight, she came to collect the souls of men." Cut to the camera panning an elegantly organized array of accessories — earrings, bracelets, a bottle of eye drops, credit cards, contact-lens cases, makeup and so forth.

Kendrick is shown selecting a bracelet, placing it on her wrist and then magically walking through a wall before stepping into a convertible where a team of beefy bodyguards await.

The scene cuts to the interior of a fancy nightclub, where Kendrick's inexplicably powerful mystery lady wanders through the crowd looking surprised and delighted by her surroundings. She eventually finds a private cabana where a man and woman are sitting. The man, well-dressed in a fedora and suit, sees her and seems to know something is wrong. An older gentleman appears, presents the man with a paper to sign; he refuses. Kendrick then sits down next to him. As he inches away toward his date, she holds up her hand and releases a flash of magic!

In the next sequence, the mystery lady, along with the bodyguards, are back in the car, traveling to another location. The same drill is repeated at two other clubs, where two more men are "collected" and piled into the car.

All three men are dropped off at another location, where a judicial-looking man is ready to issue an edict of some sort. The three new recruits join a long line of collected men. Mystery lady enters, glowing and backlit and wearing a wedding gown — or so it seems — and smiles briefly at the men, until her smile turns to a menacing glare.

A quick cut to the opening shot of the elegantly organized accessories follows, only this time the camera pans over a set of brass knuckles and other ominous devices. Kendrick enters the frame once more, appearing in a different outfit, and we're led to believe she's embarking on another night of "collecting."

So ... everyone dies? Anna Kendrick is a collector of men's souls? We're going to have to think on this one a bit.

Lil Wayne walked out of Rikers Island prison a free man around 8:30 Thursday morning (November 4). A short time later, his Young Money crew began to share their excitement via Twitter.

The world got the first look at the rapper as he made his way back into the outside world from a photo posted by a Young Money camp insider. It showed Wayne wearing a white cap and white shirt while sitting inside a vehicle with the window rolled down.

At around 8 a.m. sources spotted a caravan of about eight luxury vehicles departing a Manhattan hotel, likely on their way to meet up with the rapper.

Lil Wayne was released from prison on Thursday (November 4), and like his Cash Money label head Bryan "Baby" Williams has repeatedly said in recent weeks, the rapper will settle back into his routine by spending time first with his children and extended family.

Williams, along with Young Money President Mack Maine, among others, embraced Wayne upon his exit from Rikers Island, and immediately took the superstar MC to an undisclosed location in New York City to recuperate.

Mack Maine, who will appear Thursday (November 4) at 4 p.m. ET on a special "Welcome Home Weezy" edition of "RapFix Live," issued a statement on Thursday afternoon thanking Weezy fans for their support and expressing his gratitude that the jailed rapper is now free.

"Like any family who is blessed enough to witness a loved one exit prison, the entire Cash Money/ Young Money household has been overcome with emotions," Mack Maine said. "Watching my little brother walk out from behind those walls was more powerful than anything we have ever accomplished together because it meant we were officially a family again.

"From the moment we found out Wayne would be going to Rikers, we prayed this day would arrive as quickly as possible," the statement continued. "It is finally here and words cannot properly describe the feeling in the air. Over the next few days, our only priority is making sure Wayne re-adjusts to life outside of jail as smoothly as possible. He'll be spending much needed quality time with his children and closest loved ones."

Following Wayne's reunion with his YMCMB crew, he's expected to crisscross the country, making stops in Miami for a "welcome home" celebration in his honor, Arizona to finalize a probationary matter stemming from a previous case and, perhaps, Las Vegas, where his protégé Drake teased to MTV News that the duo may reunite onstage. Then, according to Mack Maine, the New Orleans lyricist will make his move to a recording booth.

"From there, it is back to work and back to what we have been doing for years — making good music," he wrote. "To the fans who have been a part of this process every step of the way, thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts, especially Wayne. Your well-wishes and prayers have made this tough situation much easier to cope with and now we can all celebrate. God bless."
