How Well Does Travie McCoy Know Billionaires? Find Out Here!

Gym Class Heroes frontman doesn't just sing about billionaires, he knows many of them too ...

At this point, Travie McCoy knows a thing or two about billionaires. He knows he'd like to be one — so freakin' bad. Or at least, so goes the hook of his summertime smash "Billionaire," the song that's catapulted him to the brink of surprise superstardom.

So, on the same day we caught up with him to talk about his plans for the follow-up to "Billionaire" (a much darker song called "Need You," we decided to test his knowledge of the very (very) rich, with a little game called "The Billionaire Quiz Show."

We chose six of Forbes magazine's wealthiest individuals — we're talking the mega-multibillionaires of the world — and asked him to tell us not only who they are, but how they made their money, too.

And despite the premise behind "Billionaire" — basically that McCoy will never be one, so the best he can do is dream about what he'd do if he was — it turns out that he's pretty well versed in the ways of the fabulously wealthy, nailing 50 percent of his picks. Or at least something close to that.

So the next time "Billionaire" comes on at the club, you can feel good about grooving to it ... after all, it comes from a dude who knows his Jorge Paulo Lemanns from his Carlos Slim Helús.

But why are you still reading this? Check out the video version of Travie's masterful performance on "The Billionaire Quiz Show" right now!

Lupe Fiasco Talks Fan Petition, <i>Lasers</i> Being In Limbo

'I love to see this petition. It brought me to tears a couple of times,' Lupe tells Mixtape Daily.

The O.D.: A Mixtape Daily Exclusive

"He thinks he's Martin Luther King, Malcolm X/ Tupac, Bob Marley." Lupe Fiasco just put out a freestyle over Rick Ross' B.M.F. beat (Lu's song is called "Building Minds Faster"), but says another official mixtape isn't coming anytime soon. Just as well, his fans want his album Lasers.

Last week, some of Fiasco's fans launched a website petitioning Atlantic Records to release the LP, which has been completed for at least several months. Lupe maintains that he had nothing to do with the petition, but the fans' support has moved him.

"I love to see progression," he said yesterday via phone. "I love it. I love to see this petition. It brought me to tears a couple of times like, 'these n---as really f--- with me. All these kids and these fans f--- with me and it's some positive sh--. Go to Wearenotlosers.com and see what Lasers really is. ... That's what they're petitioning for. Listen to 'I'm Beamin,' the song. It reaffirms what we're doing."

On Friday, one of Lu's former producers, Prolyfic, took the Chicago MC to task on Twitter. Lupe was portrayed by Prolyfic as stubborn and as someone who's constantly throwing tantrums, among other assertions.

"My old producer Pro, he was signed at the company maybe four or five years ago," Fiasco said. "We used to be cool. But Pro knows why we ain't cool no more. I'm not him, the type to air business or make false accusations just for the sake of getting my name out there. He knows why I don't really f--- with him. He knows why Chill don't f--- with him. He knows why the company don't f--- with him, why half of the city don't really f--- with him."

At the heart of Lupe's album being in limbo are his singles, or lack thereof. He says that Atlantic presented him with choices of singles they wanted him to record and put on his album. One of them turned out to be B.O.B's "Nothing on You." Fiasco, however, turned down using those records because, he says, it wouldn't by fiscally sound. He was told he wouldn't have any ownership of or publishing rights to the records.

"I don't think the label cares about an album," Lupe assessed. "I don't think n---as care. People just want their number-one record. They don't care about the rest of the album. I was talking to an engineer the other day and he said, 'These n---as don't even care about mixing an album no more.' They just want the first three songs. Three singles. They get them, one, two, three, they don't care what's on the rest of the album. I know this for sure. I've seen it. You can't blame them because of the attention span of the game and the attention span of music, how fast things are going. You only got them one, two, three shots. I'm not no fool. I'm looking at it like 'Yeah, you're right.'

"You just want them, one, two, three. Can I get two? Can I get three. I'm talking about equity in the songs. I wrote 'Superstar.' The hook, all that sh--. That whole song is mine. I'm not doing it outta fame. I don't mind having people come in and support. That's how my career started. With all that said, I own some of 'Superstar.' These records, I'm not finnin to own sh-- on those records [Atlantic chose as singles]. N---a, that's not success. That's stupidity. ... I have no problem accepting help, but you ain't finnin to take advantage of me. I got nine brothers and sisters. They gotta eat. ... F--- what n---as gotta say on a message board. F--- what Pro is talking about. I got a whole family, a whole team, a whole crew of n---as I f--- with in the streets that's eating off what Lupe Fiasco is doing. I gotta do what's best. If I'm not getting no publishing check, that means I can't pay for my man's lawyer. So n---a, f--- you."

Six months ago, Lupe said tensions between him and his recording home were "extremely ugly." Now, however, the volatile relationship has simmered down.

"It's not necessarily a standoff. Record executives at the company signed the petition. That's no bullsh--. It's something that's systematic. At the end of the day, everything I'm talking don't mean sh-- until they feel like they gonna move with what they gonna move with. They could put Lupe Fiasco on the shelf forever. At the end of the day, it's not about me going to war or having a standoff. It's about having an agreement that's mutually beneficial, and I think we've done that. It's at the point that everybody is kinda comfortable, but in the midst of everybody getting right, here comes this petition. Then in the midst of this petition, you get this punk n---a Pro coming out the box talking all this crazy sh--. It puts more negativity into the situation. But the people at Atlantic love that. I'm not saying they love the negativity, I'm talking about the petition. For them to see 16,000 people say, 'This is what we want and what we want now. We're sick of all this dumb bullsh--.' They love to see fans that actually care."

Lupe does have a new body of work out right now. He's the frontman for a punk rock group called Japanese Cartoon. Their project In the Jaws of the Lords of Death is available for free download on Allsabotage.com.

Zac Efron Wants To Make 'Relevant' Movies

At this point in his career, Zac Efron can take on pretty much any film role, endorsement, reading of the phone book, etc., and his die-hard fans will line up to see him. With such enthusiastic supporters, it could be easy to take them for granted and sign on to whatever project suits his fancy. When MTV News caught up with the teen heartthrob, however, we learned that this is not the case.

When asked why he took on his role in "Charlie St. Cloud," out this Friday, instead of another musical, for example, Efron revealed that he puts a lot of thought into his fans' wishes.

"I was trying to figure that out for so long," Efron admitted. "What do the fans want to see? I could do another musical. I could stick to my guns and try to do more of that. Try and do another cool musical and try to stick with that genre. Is that really what the fans want to see? I mean everyone is like, 'How can you make that transition? How are you going to get the fans to follow you into this new kind of stuff?' "

Efron said he doesn't think it's the responsibility of his fans to follow him, rather it's his responsibility to stay relevant. "The only way that I know how to do that is to stay a little bit ahead of the audience. Experience life, make movies about those experiences, and by the time the audience catches up, and maybe realizes that life isn't always like 'High School Musical,' maybe they will have a movie that helps them through that next challenge that they face in life."

The forward-thinking 22-year-old added that he'd prefer his career to be based in that kind of relevance, rather than what he thinks is fun. "I don't want to look back and say I just made movies because it was fun, you know? I want to make movies because it's challenging and it's an opportunity to help people. Otherwise it's just, you know, kind of selfish, I think."

'Thor' Star Says Vikings' 'Fearlessness' Inspired His Portrayal

Chris Hemsworth is no stranger to TV and film — he appeared in last summer's mega-hit "Star Trek" — but in tackling the starring role in Marvel's 2011 superhero film "Thor," the 26-year-old enters a whole new category of leading man. When MTV News caught up with Hemsworth, he revealed that "Thor" director Kenneth Branagh had helped in his superhero education by giving him some pre-shoot homework.

"I read so many different books and comic books," Hemsworth told us at San Diego Comic-Con. "Ken, when I got the part, gave me a stack of things and said, 'Look, read what you want, I'm not going to test you at the end of it.' "

Hemsworth revealed that Branagh told him not to stress too much about boning up on Thor's entire history, but to use the books as tools for whatever inspiration he might gain, be it a stance, costume, etc. "He said, 'If you can get something from it, great, it might only be one look.' "

The actor said he found the most useful information in books about Norse mythology, specifically those that referenced Vikings and their belief systems and ideals regarding fate and death. Hemsworth cited the Vikings' attitude toward destiny as one quality he drew from in preparing to play the God of Thunder.

"Their fatalistic attitude, how everything was preordained: the day of their death, the way they're going to die has already been fated long ago," he explained. "They live with this fearlessness, which for me, was a lot of the angle I came at Thor with," Hemsworth revealed. "He does reckless sort of things but his heart is in the right place. He believes it's right. He's not just a madman."

What do you think of Chris Hemsworth playing Thor? Tell us in the comments!

Rick Ross: Behold The Transformative Power Of The <i>Teflon Don</i>

Posted: 28 Jul 2010 03:50 AM PDT

The bearded Bawse's excess, from minks to Maybachs, amounts to an enthralling escape, in Bigger Than the Sound.
By James Montgomery

Rick Ross
Photo: MTV News

This is me. This is Rick Ross. As you can probably guess, we don't exactly have a lot in common, but I am trying to change that. I don't really have a choice. Rick Ross is transforming my life.

Over the space of three months, he's released two stupendous projects — The Albert Anastasia EP (a mixtape, which, for reasons known only to him, is actually 13 tracks long) and Teflon Don, which, by the time you read this, will probably be sitting at #1 on the Billboard 200 — that made me start Googling stuff like "Big Meech" and "Larry Hoover".

He caused me to ponder just why some cocaine is nicknamed "Archie Bunker" (duh, because it's so white!), and walk around my apartment shouting "F--- the judge, prosecutor and the district attorney!" so loudly that my wife is starting to reconsider our marriage. He has even forced me to reconsider my feelings on Diddy.

Clearly, big things are afoot.

I'm not really sure why any of this is happening but I'm certainly not the only one who feels this way, as Teflon Don has received a groundswell of critical acclaim from a host of, shall we say, less than traditional media outlets. So it might be as simple as the fact that the album is really good. But there are plenty of really good albums released each year, and most of them don't get this kind of attention, so that may not entirely explain why Ricky is having his moment right now.

It could have something to do with the elaborate, wide-screen world he's created for himself — a downright "Scarfacian" sphere of swagger and sophistication — or the way he lumbers between those two extremes, oftentimes in the same song, and always convincingly so (a feat his contemporaries have yet to truly master). It might be the monolithic figure he cuts or the lengths he goes to in order to keep his granite-hard Boss persona intact (arriving at a strip club by helicopter was a genius touch), or the fact that, despite those things, he's still not afraid to release a song like "Tears of Joy," a complicated, (sorta) fragile pondering of his life of excess.

There are a million more reasons — his innate ability to positively destroy the first four bars of a song (see "Blowin' Money Fast (B.M.F.)"), his ability to bring out the best in dudes like Jay-Z ("Free Mason") and the aforementioned Diddy — and all of them are probably correct. But they all point to the same thing: Right now, there's no one as compelling as him, no one as multifaceted, no one as interesting. Sure, Eminem has released his million-selling mea culpa, Recovery, and whenever Kanye comes back, certainly the entire world will be waiting to hear what he has to say (and if his verse on Teflon Don's "Live Fast, Die Young" is any indication, he's gonna be plenty mad), but at the moment, Ross is Boss. At least for me.

And in a lot of respects, Teflon Don came to me at exactly the right time. For whatever reason, I find most rock music — or at least everything that goes into it — to be intolerably boring at the moment. Perhaps I've been around it for too long, have interviewed too many mumbling white dudes with beards, but I'm having a hard time feigning interest, no matter how great the efforts of the National or the Arcade Fire may be. Win Butler is no Rick Ross, after all. He's interminably real. Ross — with his minks and Maybachs, his tales of mansions and machine guns (be they real or imagined) — is downright fictional, like a character out of a movie. I don't care about his prison-guard past, or whether he actually moves keys of coke through Biscayne Bay, I just want to be entertained and enthralled, and if it's by an extra hefty man with a huge beard, well, then all the better.

So that probably explains why I've become obsessed. Maybe it means I'm regressing, but that doesn't bother me. After all, there was a time in my life when I loved pro wrestling too. And listening to Teflon Don is a lot like the WWE, only with more bullets. It's theater. It's art. It's awesome and everything I've been looking for. Because I don't want to be morose right now. I want to get "Super High." Give me fiction, give me fantasy, give me velvet-draped, cognac-drenched, caviar-wishes-and-cocaine dreams. Give me the Bawse. I'm ready too. I've already started growing the beard and everything.

Holly Madison Recalls Dumping Her Boyfriend At Prom, On 'When I Was 17'

'I was so angry. I drove him home, dropped him off, broke up with him,' Playmate says of her cheating boyfriend.

When Playboy Playmate Holly Madison was a teenager growing up in Astoria, Oregon, the now-very-popular blond wasn't all that popular. She admits that she wasn't all that focused on doing well in school either, until she realized that getting good grades would be the key to getting out of her small town.

"Other people would describe me when I was 17 as, like, a freak or aloof," Madison says on this week's episode of "When I Was 17." "I was always, like, white makeup, black lipstick. Like, I wasn't particularly hot in high school, but I guess nobody was where I was from."

While her fashion sense was developing, so was her flair for academics. "For my first three years of high school, I really slacked off and got horrible grades, always trying to push the boundaries," she recalled. "I was always caught skipping school. But when I was 17, I realized if I ever wanted to get out of my small town, I needed to go to college. So I got my act together really fast, got straight A's.

"I just couldn't wait to get on with my life," she added. "Move into a big city and just make things happen. I was kind of bored."

But before she could head off to Portland State University, she had one more matter of unfinished business to complete before finding fame in Hollywood. "My senior year was definitely memorable. I had a lot of fun getting ready for prom and my mom made my outfits for me so I got to design them," she shared.

Unfortunately for Madison, the night didn't turn out all that happy. "I went with my boyfriend, who was a couple years older than me. By the time we got to prom, all my friends kind of split up [from dinner], and sadly my most memorable moment of my prom was finding out my boyfriend had cheated on me with this potato-headed girl." So instead of forgiving her beau, she let him go. "I was so angry. I drove him home, dropped him off, broke up with him," she said. "And that was that."

"When I Was 17" — this week featuring Holly Madison, Dwyane Wade, and Joel and Benji Madden — airs Saturday at 11 a.m. on MTV.

Wiz Khalifa Fans Celebrate His 'Hottest Breakthrough MC' Win

When Wiz Khalifa won MTV News' "Hottest Breakthrough MC of 2010" contest, the victory was fueled by tons of love from his fans.

The Pittsburgh rapper's army of fans — the Taylor Gang — not only voted in such numbers that Wiz's tally nearly doubled that of runner-up Nicki Minaj, they also took to the message boards to argue for the inevitability of the nod. "Listen to Wiz, he's lyrical ... smooth ... fluent," wrote MTV.com commenter Mike. "Def the most talented rappin' against the competition."

Another fan said Wiz was finally getting the props he deserves. "All you people sayin' Wiz ain't [deserving] never heard Prince of the City 2," Vinnie wrote. "It ain't like Wiz just came outta nowhere. Dude's been on his grind heavy since '05 droppin' mixtape after mixtape. With all the noise he's making, you can't refuse to hear. About time we got a quality rapper from Pittsburgh, 412 all day, city of champions."

Even those readers who voted for other candidates gave respect to Wiz on his win. "Can I say I'm shocked?" CoolestBookworm22 wrote. "I expected Nicki Minaj to win because it's safe to say she has the largest fan base. I think J. Cole should have won, but it is what it is. Congrats Wiz."

Added Derrell, "Just my opinion, J Cole, Wiz, and Curren$y all will shine. All 3 are so different!"

Others weren't able to take the outcome. "J. Cole got snubbed," G-One wrote.

Wiz beat out 19 other candidates in the "Hottest Breakthrough MC of 2010" poll, which was decided by you, the MTVNews.com readers. The Kush & Orange Juice MC won a tough competition, beating fellow top-five finalists Nicki Minaj, J. Cole, Travis Porter and Diggy Simmons. Wiz's victory was even more impressive because Nicki Minaj and J. Cole have heavyweight co-signs from Lil Wayne and Jay-Z, respectively.

Wiz himself was humble about victory, telling MTV News, "It's like a friendly competition. It's not competing like I'm going against [the others], but it's like we're all in the same thing. To be mentioned in the same thing as them and then to have my fans come through and just push it over — it's cool!"

Exclusive: 'Girl With The Dragon Tattoo' Film To Be Set In Sweden, David Fincher Says

Posted: 27 Jul 2010 12:11 AM PDT

'You have to — what, are you going to put it in Seattle?' director says.
By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz

David Fincher
Photo: MTV News

Correct us if we're wrong, but we don't think David Fincher has ever spoken publicly about "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo," his upcoming adaptation of Stieg Larsson's international best-selling crime thriller.

He's a famously press-shy director, but when MTV News got a chance to chat with him at San Diego Comic-Con — where he was promoting his plans for an animated feature of "The Goon" — we had to ask him about progress on "Dragon Tattoo."

Based on the first of Larsson's three "Millennium" novels, the sprawling story focuses on two unforgettable Swedish characters: Mikael Blomkvist, a disgraced journalist hired to solve a 40-year-old missing-person case, and Lisbeth Salander, a dark and damaged hacker who joins the investigation.

The assumption has been that Fincher would somehow Americanize the story, perhaps moving the setting from Sweden to the U.S., but as Fincher told us in his only Comic-Con interview, that's not his plan at all.

"Stockholm. Uppsala. In the north," he said of the film's planned location. "You have to. What, are you going to put it in Seattle?"

Thankfully not. Larsson's book is steeped in an atmosphere of foggy Nordic islands and gritty Stockholm back alleys. From the missing woman's large and wealthy family to Salander and Blomkvist themselves, it's hard to imagine any of these characters getting an American makeover. Fincher, smartly, isn't even going to try.

Daniel Craig has just signed on to play Blomkvist, while a wide net is being cast to find the right Salander. Among the names mentioned to play the tattooed, motorcycle-driving hacker are Rooney Mara ("The Social Network"), Emily Browning ("Sucker Punch") and two newcomers, Sophie Lowe and Sarah Snook.

When asked if he'd found his Salander yet, Fincher replied simply, "Nope."

Will she be an unknown or a more established actress? "Yeah," he said.

OK then! The director, however, did go on to deny the idea that he'll shoot "Dragon Tattoo," set for release on December 21, 2011, alongside adaptations of the other books in the series — "The Girl Who Played With Fire" and "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest."

"No, there's no plans for that right now," he said. "You got to make one that people want to see a sequel to before you can make a sequel."

Can Mel Gibson Recover From Oksana Scandal? PR Expert Weighs In

Posted: 27 Jul 2010 12:37 AM PDT

'Maybe by 2015 we'll let him take a small part in a crappy movie,' Howard Bragman says, but adds Gibson's Hollywood career may be over.
By Gil Kaufman

Photo: Dominique Charriau/WireImage

There's little doubt about whether the ranting, raving, expletive-spewing voice heard on the now-infamous series of tapes released by Radar Online is that of former Hollywood icon Mel Gibson. The "Lethal Weapon" star's representatives have not disputed — nor have they confirmed — that it is their client hurling racist and sexist invective at ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva. The only real question remaining is when, or even whether, Gibson, 50, can possibly bounce back from his latest scandal.

Crisis management and public relations guru Howard Bragman of PR firm Fifteen Minutes said, for the time being anyway, Gibson's focus should not be on his public image or career, but on weathering the legal storm and dealing with whatever issues are fueling his emotional outbursts.

"If Mel wants to have some sort of life again he needs to number one, play out his legal hand," said Bragman, who consulted for actor Isaiah Washington after the actor was accused of using a gay slur against former "Grey's Anatomy" co-star T.R. Knight. "His legal hand far outweighs his PR hand right now and his PR problem." Gibson, who has been accused of using homophobic and anti-Semitic language in the past, has not commented on the tapes.

After one taped phone conversation captured Gibson allegedly threatening Grigorieva's life and then apparently offering an apology for physically attacking her while she held their then-two-month-old baby, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department launched a domestic violence investigation, which is currently under way. A probe into allegations of extortion on Grigorieva's part has also been opened.

Asked if he thought Gibson was receiving an unfair amount of criticism for the shocking content of the tapes, Bragman responded, "If the tapes are true, then clearly his girlfriend was getting unfairly treated and the baby was getting unfairly treated."

And, assuming Gibson does not get charged with any crimes, accused of anything else or locked up, Bragman said the actor will have to undertake some serious soul-searching to try and understand what fueled the rage on the tapes, in which a hyperventilating, shouting Gibson often sounds on the edge of losing control as Grigorieva urges him to seek therapy to deal with his anger.

"Then you have to get at the root causes and say, 'Where does this anger stem from?' " he said. "Do a lot of therapy, go to anger management, go to rehab if there's drugs or other substances involved and then try, if enough time passes, for some cathartic moment. Some sort of volunteer work, some sort of interview and then maybe by 2015 we'll let him take a small part in a crappy movie."

Gibson was swiftly dropped by his longtime talent agency in the wake of the tapes, and the fate of his upcoming slate of movies appears to be in the air at the moment, but not everyone in Hollywood has rushed to write him off. Considering that Gibson has a massive war chest and has his own production company, Icon, which has financed such blockbusters as "The Passion of the Christ," it's possible he could continue to work as a director and producer without necessarily having to face the gauntlet of a press tour to promote a movie.

Bragman, however, who often preaches the gospel of "time plus distance and contrition equals forgiveness," isn't so sure. "I think Mel Gibson is not going to have a mainstream Hollywood career again."

Do you think Mel Gibson can bounce back from this? Leave your comments below.

'Breaking Dawn' Scribe Wants Birth Scene To Be 'Visceral'

'I want to have the experience of the fear and feel [Bella's] pain,' Melissa Rosenberg says at San Diego Comic-Con.
By Terri Schwartz

Photo: MTV News

SAN DIEGO — For the first time since 2007, there was no official "Twilight" presence at the Comic-Con panels this year. But screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg was in attendance, and she was more than willing to take a break from the convention to chat with MTV News about her upcoming work on "Breaking Dawn." The two films are set to start shooting back-to-back in November, and Rosenberg said she is still working on finalizing the script.

Fans have been most concerned with how Bella's (Kristen Stewart) pivotal, not to mention traumatic, birthing scene will be portrayed in the movie, and Rosenberg said she and director Bill Condon are continually revising the script to make it work. Despite an earlier comment, she said the scene will be included, but the specifics of how it will be represented have not been solidified yet.

"I've written and continue to rewrite it, working on it with Bill Condon ... He has a vision as well, but it's kind of a shared vision I would say, but ultimately it comes down to, what does he actually want to see?" she said. "I know what I want to see, which is, I want to see the terror of the experience. I want to have the experience of the fear and feel her pain. I want to feel everyone's pain in this."

Still, Rosenberg said that there are some of the gruesome elements of the scene — like Edward (Robert Pattinson) having to give Bella what has been dubbed a "vampire caesarian" — that she doesn't think need to be included in the scene. "I want it to be visceral, so that is what's most important. Do I want to see teeth in placenta? No," she said. "Someone else may. I don't actually want to see that, but to each his own."

Another of the other big scenes in "Breaking Dawn" that has been the subject of some controversy is the imprinting scene. It features Jacob (Taylor Lautner) having what Rosenberg describes as a "spiritual experience" with Bella's newborn child that ultimately leads to the revelation that the infant is his soul mate.

"One must be very careful with that," Rosenberg said about the scene, "but hopefully you've taken this ride with Jacob for all four movies; you know Jacob, and so I think you'll experience it the way he does, which is spiritually, as a spiritual experience, as an emotional experience and not something that makes one uncomfortable."

Check out everything we've got on "Breaking Dawn."

Joshua Jackson Explains Pacey-Con 'Funny Or Die' Video

'It was time to remind the world of the greatest character in TV history,' the former 'Dawson's Creek' star jokes to MTV News of Comic-Con also-ran.

Among the many big, breaking headlines to come out of Comic-Con in San Diego over the weekend, perhaps the most bizarre was Joshua Jackson holding his own convention, mere feet away from the actual Con. The aptly titled Pacey-Con was devoted to fans of his beloved character, Pacey Witter, and all things "Dawson's Creek."

In a phone call on Tuesday (July 27) with MTV News — the same day his video documenting the event went live on on Funny or Die — the "Fringe" star chatted about the making of Pacey-Con.

"Well, it came about because I just thought it was time to remind the world of the greatest character in TV history," Jackson joked. "The original concept was, you know, actors are always trying to run away from characters they've had in their past. Well, I wanted to do the video that was the exact opposite."

While Jackson's affection for his character is clear from watching the Funny or Die clip, Pacey fans will quickly notice that Jackson even brought back Pacey's famous bowling shirt.

"Sadly, it's a replacement bowling shirt," he admitted. "We couldn't find any of the original Pacey stuff and I don't quite have the right hair anymore to go with the Caesar bowl cut from season one, possibly the most embarrassing haircut put on national television."

For any fans that doubted the authenticity of this gathering, the actor revealed that the Pacey-Con fan fiction was the real deal, written by real "Dawson's" fans. Unfortunately, Comic-Con security wasn't necessarily convinced: Jackson was thrown out of the San Diego event.

"The security guards who threw me out of the actual Comic-Con were not big 'Dawson's Creek' fans. ... We only showed it once, but I actually got thrown out twice," he said. "They were not having it at all. If you don't have a pass, there's no love."

There was lots of love, however, from Comic-Con visitors. "The whole scenario was strange, and I have to say I was dually impressed because I can't imagine a crowd that was less likely to be 'Dawson's Creek' fans than the Comic-Con crowd, but they went along with it," he explained.

So, will we see more Pacey-Cons in the future?

"Absolutely! Bigger and better! Can't stop it now. It's a force that cannot be denied. It might not be true, but let me live with my illusion," he laughed, adding, "If I see a Jen-Con 2011, it's on! We'll have to do a Con-off. We'll have to do competing Cons!" he joked about a convention dedicated to the character played by Hollywood actress Michelle Williams.

Now that we've seen Jackson in his full Pacey wardrobe again, it leaves us wondering if a "Dawson's Creek" reunion is in the works.

"I think I'm just going to start the rumor because ["DC" director] Kevin Williamson was actually there, so the rumor should be that we were actually there plotting the 2011 revival of 'DC,' " he joked. "Pacey's done his time, though. I want first billing! I'm done with this 'Dawson's Creek' bullsh--."

Are you dying to see a "Dawson's Creek" reunion? Tell us in the comments!

'American Idol' Reject Ian Benardo Files $300 Million Lawsuit

Bernardo claims the show 'exploited ... my sexual orientation' and instructed him to 'gay it up.'

If you watched this year's "American Idol" finale, you'll likely remember the moment when it seemed like things had gone completely off the rails. Comedian Dane Cook was singing a jokey homage to departing judge Simon Cowell when all of a sudden a parade of some of the legendary "Idol" misfits tumbled onto the stage in what has become a time-honored tradition on the final show of every season.

Only this time, reject Ian Benardo took things too far, mic-jacking a surprised-looking Cook and spewing off a string of incomprehensible Cowell-baiting, self-promoting blather before producers quickly cut to commercial.

Well, Benardo, not content to be shut down, has reportedly filed a $300 million lawsuit against the show, claiming that he was threatened by Cook and that producers caused him emotional distress and loss of employment opportunities through their handling of the situation.

According to TMZ, Benardo filed a suit with the New York State Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in which he claims that Cook personally threatened him after the show and that an unnamed "Idol" producer told Benardo that the comedian wanted to "shove this mic up your ass but you would like it."

And while he was upset with the alleged harsh treatment he suffered during the finale, Benardo claims in the suit that the conflict started in 2006 when he first auditioned for "Idol." At that time, Benardo claims that producers "exploited ... my sexual orientation" by instructing the outrageous "So You Think You Can Dance" wannabe to "gay it up."

When he was invited back for this year's finale, Benardo says that producers gave him similar instructions to act "outrageous" and "gay," which inspired him to snatch the mic from Cook. The comedian was none too pleased with Benardo's move, calling him out on Twitter by writing, "If you missed it I got Kanye'd on 'American Idol.' Wild ... Luckily at the end of the song ... that was not staged. Weirdo hijacked the song. Just glad he didn't hit me in the face with the mic or 'American Idol' would be 'American Beatdown ... Weirdo = f---face."

Though Cook kept his cool onstage, in the suit, Benardo claims that the comedian and his manager were angry about the incident and that "Idol" producers warned Benardo that he should exit the building right away because he was "not safe."

Benardo says he's suffered emotional injuries and loss of employment opportunities as a result and is seeking $300 million in restitution. Fox, the network that airs "American Idol," had no comment. A spokesperson for Dane Cook could not be reached for comment at press time.

Exclusive: Kris Allen Talks 'Monsoon,' Quicksand In Stormy Desert Video Shoot

'It's freakin' hot, man!' the singer tells MTV News of 110-degree temps while filming clip for 'The Truth.'

There's an old Hollywood nugget that warns stars against working with animals and children. After enduring a disastrous day of filming his upcoming music video for "The Truth," Kris Allen might suggest you avoid shooting in the desert too. Twelve days ago, the season-eight "American Idol" champ was forced to pull the plug on his latest shoot, thanks to extreme weather that turned the vast, dry California desert into a wet, sticky mess.

"Apparently, in the desert, when it starts raining the ground just turns into mush," Allen told MTV News on Monday night from the set, where production had resumed. That desert "mush" led to quicksand-like conditions that forced the crew to cut their losses and flee for safety.

"It started to monsoon, man! It was crazy. It was one of the biggest storms I've ever been in but it was almost kind of fun in a way. We were just standing outside, [but] I felt like we had just jumped in the pool," Allen said.

Nobody got hurt in the sudden storm, but a few (expensive) inanimate objects succumbed to the sinking earth. "Some of [the film trailers] got stuck. We had to leave a piano out here because they couldn't get it in time," Allen explained. "I'm sure it's ruined. ... We'll probably still use it though. Maybe it'll look cooler."

Perhaps a weathered piano might fit the moody music video's aesthetic, which Allen described as an abstract dream. (Turns out the piano survived, based on a picture Kris tweeted late Tuesday night.)

The first day of rained-out shooting wasn't a complete wash, though. Before Mother Nature made her unwelcome cameo, Train singer Pat Monahan finished his portion of the video — in 110-degree heat. (Pat co-wrote the song and warbles a few lines in the single.) The crew also managed to wrap a few setups with Kris.

"I was in the middle of the desert dragging this really heavy chest that is filled with sand," Allen described before joking, "[Then, Pat's] gonna pop out and sing the bridge."

Luckily Kris, who's currently on tour supporting the Barenaked Ladies in between a sprinkling of headlining dates, had a day off in Las Vegas. So Allen's team drove down from the Nevada desert into the California desert to resume taping the video. "It's freakin' hot, man!" Kris exclaimed. "The bad thing is you don't sweat, and so you don't really realize that maybe you should have some water. ... We're trying to keep hydrated and make sure no one's passin' out out here."

Despite the drama of rescheduling, the sizzling "Truth" set ran smoothly on Monday.

"We're moving quick; everything's getting done. We've [finished] some performance shots, just singing and playing the guitar," Allen told us after a few hours of shooting under the direction of noted cinematographer Aaron Platt. ("Live Like We're Dying" director Marco Puig was under consideration for "The Truth" the last time we spoke with Kris, but ultimately, the video took another direction.)

Fans can look forward to "random" imagery mixed in with performance footage, including a scene that finds the singer using a "magical orb" to get all aggro on a mirror. "Yeah, I have an orb," Allen boasted.

He also has a female co-star, model/actress Cindy Vela, although he didn't share any scenes with her. "It's not gonna be, like, us making out with each other or anything like that," Allen explained.

Abstract dream logic, a tortured couple, mysterious locations ... sounds a lot like the summer blockbuster "Inception," which Kris and his wife, Katy, actually caught the day his video shoot was canceled. "Don't be mad at me but ... apparently 30 minutes into the movie, I [was] pretty tired and I [fell] asleep," the exhausted singer said. But the irony of dreaming during "Inception" was not lost on Kris. Upon waking up, a disoriented Allen quipped, "I felt like Ellen Page for a second."

Fans will have to wait a little bit before they discover whether "The Truth" has the same dreamlike quality of Leonardo DiCaprio's buzzy hit. "I don't know how long the post-production stuff takes so hopefully [it'll debut] pretty soon. [Adding] a digital elephant, that could take awhile," Allen joked. "James Cameron is actually directing this video. It'll be 3-D, and it's costing $3 billion. Hope the song does well!"

He may have lost a piano in quicksand, but at least Kris Allen didn't lose his sense of humor.

Are you excited to see Kris' next video? Tell us in the comments!

'Green Lantern' Star Ryan Reynolds Confirms Names Of Other Lantern Peacekeepers

Posted: 27 Jul 2010 02:00 AM PDT

'You're gonna see Sinestro. You're gonna see Tomar-Re. You're gonna see Kilowog. You're gonna see Bzzd,' Reynolds says.

Ryan Reynolds

Behold, Ryan Reynolds in all his Green Lantern glory! We got our first look at the fighter pilot-turned superhero earlier this month, complete with glowing green suit, Lantern logo and pulsing power ring. Then at Comic-Con over the weekend, we glimpsed Reynolds in action, as DC Comics unleashed the first-ever footage from the upcoming big screen adaptation.

As devoted comic geeks know, however, Reynolds' character — the pilot Hal Jordan, who transforms into a superhero thanks to his all-powerful ring — is not the only Lantern in the universe. Rather, he is but one hero in the Green Lantern Corps, a crew of intergalactic peacekeepers. And speaking with MTV News at the Con, Reynolds revealed exactly which other Lanterns will pop up in the film when it opens on June 17, 2011.

"You're gonna see Sinestro. You're gonna see Tomar-Re. You're gonna see Kilowog. You're gonna see Bzzd," Reynolds told us.

We've already got a first look at Sinestro (Mark Strong), the purple-skinned alien mentor to Jordan. And the Comic-Con footage showed us the alien Tomar-Re for the first time. [But the news that Bzzd — an insect Lantern killed off in the current DC Universe — will be in the film came as a welcome surprise.

Later at the panel, producer Donald De Line added to the list of Lanterns: Salaak, Boodikka and Green Man. That's a lot of superheroes to handle, but Reynolds has supreme confidence in the talents and vision of director Martin Campbell ("Casino Royale").

"He's less of the director and more of a general," Reynolds told us earlier. "He just really knows strategies, he knows the intricacies, and his attention to detail! It's infectious. I sat down with him, and I could not even believe what he was saying. When I went to the meeting, I was entirely cynical. I thought, 'What the hell, I'll see what they have to say,' and I left the room with a completely different perspective."

Katy Perry Talks 'Wedding Nails,' Britney Spears' Teeth

'I brush my teeth all the time. I wanted them to be, like, Britney Spears white,' Perry responds to fan's question in YouTube Q&A.

Two weeks ago, Katy Perry took to YouTube asking her fans to submit questions for a Q&A session. And they did, flooding the site with more than 20,000 queries about, well, pretty much everything.

On Tuesday (July 27), Perry took a stab at actually responding to a fraction of them in a 30-minute interview that finally gave us answers to such burning questions as "What is your favorite food?" (beets and arugula), "What girl would you like to kiss?" ("Natalie Portman — she's hot and smart"), and, perhaps most importantly, "Would you ever consider posing for Playboy?" ("I would probably say no").

She also fielded more than a few inquiries about her personal life, including one about her upcoming marriage to comedian and former VMA host Russell Brand, and whether or not the couple planned on having children one day.

"We are excited to get married, of course. And I think, in marriage, when you're picking a partner, one of the things to keep in mind is 'Will he be a good baby daddy?' And he'll be perfect," Perry said.

She then revealed that at her wedding, she plans to keep things a bit demure, at least when it comes to her nails.

"I'm kind of a nail aficionado and freak ... I think for my wedding I'll do what is called 'wedding nails,' where it's traditional and pretty," she laughed. "I don't know if I'd want, like, Oompa Loompas on my nails while taking my pictures."

Very important to know. Perry was also asked by a fan if there was one thing people didn't know about her that would be shocking to find out, and, ever the champ, she responded with two of them.

"I'm pretty much an open book ... well, my boobs are real, just wanted to cover all that," she said. "And I brush my teeth all the time. I wanted them to be, like, Britney Spears white. I used to grow up seeing her music videos, like, 'What does she do? Does she get a new set of teeth all the time? They're so white!' "

Perry also said that she's blown away by the public's response to her smash hit "California Gurls," especially all the parody videos that have popped up in its wake. She watches as many of them as she can, and she's still looking for more.

"I actually welcome them. I do kind of take myself seriously when it's appropriate to, with different songs ... but I know that 'California Gurls' is just a fun song, and I think that if people are making parodies of your song, you've made it," she explained. "And I think we're only a couple of states away from having all 50 states in the U.S.A. to be parodied ... I love that stuff. I welcome it. I actually want to see more of it."

Blake Lively Wants Scarlett Johansson To Teach Her To Fight

'She's Black Widow! She was terrific!' 'Green Lantern' star says of 'Iron Man 2' star/ Ryan Reynolds' wife.
By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Josh Horowitz

Blake Lively

Blake Lively has the pleasure of playing Ryan Reynolds' love interest in "Green Lantern." And while right now her character, Carol Ferris, is quite sweet, eventually she'll turn sour and end up being a villain in the franchise. So, does the "Gossip Girl" star feel comfortable embracing her inner bad girl for the role?

"Oh my gosh! I would love to, to get to beat [Ryan Reynolds] up! Best day ever!" she laughed to MTV News at Comic-Con in San Diego. She even has the perfect woman in mind to train her to eventually "beat up" Reynolds, namely his wife and fellow action star Scarlett Johansson.

"Oh, I think she would beat him up too! She's Black Widow!" she said. "She was terrific! She's got to teach me how to fight!"

Lively said that even though the pair become love interests before they become enemies, their constant rivalry adds to her character's relationship with Reynolds' Hal Jordan. "She's [Jordan's] boss and she's also a fighter pilot," Lively said. "She's only second to him. They're the [top] two pilots in the world. So she's also his rival, and so it creates a really interesting dynamic and a cool tension."

Fans will get to see Lively leave the comforts of the Upper East Side in Manhattan for otherworldly places in the flick. "That's what's so nice about it," she said. "Superhero movies, [you're] either in a specific city on planet Earth or in space. But the fact that you get to go back and forth [in 'Green Lantern'] is a unique thing that you haven't seen in many movies."

The Arcade Fire's forthcoming The Suburbs, due August 3, is a very big record, one they're celebrating with a pair of very big shows at New York's Madison Square Garden. And somewhat fittingly, they've found a very big director to work with at those gigs.

According to The Associated Press, Terry Gilliam — the former "Monty Python" standout and the man behind such films as "Brazil," "12 Monkeys," "The Fisher King" and "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" — will direct a live webcast of the band's August 5 show at MSG, as part of a new series called "Unstaged."

The webcast of the show (the band's second of two at the Garden), will stream live on a special YouTube page at 10 p.m. ET. According to reports, the performance will feature "special guests" and will allow viewers to select multiple camera angles and submit photos of their own "suburbs," which may be featured on stage during the band's performance.

In an e-mail to MTV News, a spokesperson for the Arcade Fire confirmed that the band is working with Gilliam on the project.

The collaboration with Gilliam is just the latest instance of the Arcade Fire teaming with a high-profile director. Last year, they re-recorded a version of their song "Wake Up" for use in the trailer of Spike Jonze's "Where the Wild Things Are," and then, in April, a spokesperson for Jonze told MTV News that the director was returning the favor by shooting a "short film" for the Suburbs album.

So far, the Jonze-directed short has yet to surface. According to early reports, it was shot in Austin, Texas, apparently features "mostly late-teen actors" and revolves around a concept of "friends growing apart."

Rihanna's 'Battleship' Will Join Pantheon Of Singers' First Flicks

From Madonna's 'A Certain Sacrifice' to Taylor Swift's 'Valentine's Day,' pop stars' first forays into acting have been interesting.
By Eric Ditzian

Last February, during a swing through South Korea, Rihanna told MTV Asia that she had dreams of becoming a Hollywood superstar.

"I would love to get into comedic movies," the 22-year-old said. "As well as action. I love action. I would love to play a badass one day."

Well, a badass she very well might be, as she's signed onto "Battleship," a sci-fi action flick based on the classic board game and co-starring Taylor Kitsch and Alexander Skarsgård. Of course, this isn't the first time a celebrated singer has ditched the recording studio for the soundstage. As Rihanna boards "Battleship," she joins a long line of artists-turned-actresses. Let's take a look back at the first movie roles from some our favorite singers.

Beyoncé in "Austin Powers in Goldmember"

No disrespect to the 2001 MTV movie "Carmen: A Hip Hopera," but 2002's "Goldmember" was Beyoncé's first turn on the big screen. And what a debut it was. She essentially played herself, albeit a '70s version of herself with super high hair and a handgun, but that is exactly what Beyoncé needed. The role didn't require very much in terms of acting chops and gave her the chance to get comfortable in front of the camera. Veteran comedic talent like Mike Myers, Seth Green and Michael Caine got the laughs, while Beyoncé benefited from simply sharing the frame. "Goldmember" grossed almost $300 million worldwide, and she went on to star in the critically acclaimed "Dreamgirls" a few years later.

Madonna in "A Certain Sacrifice"

Madge's first high-profile role arrived in 1985 with "Desperately Seeking Susan," but she actually shot her first movie six years earlier. The low-budget "A Certain Sacrifice," a sex-and-violence filled story set in New York's Lower East Side, languished on the shelf for years until Madonna hit the mainstream. She actually did everything she could to prevent the film's release, but "Certain Sacrifice" eventually got a home video release. Madonna might not be proud of the flick, but it certainly didn't have a negative effect on her Hollywood career. She went on to star in a slew of glitzy productions, including "Evita," for which she won a Golden Globe in 1997.

Queen Latifah in "Jungle Fever"

Latifah signed her first record deal when she was just 17. By the time she was 21, she'd also landed a small role in Spike Lee's "Jungle Fever." She went on to meatier roles in "House Party 2" and "Juice," opposite Tupac Shakur. By the new millennium, she had an Oscar nomination for "Chicago" on her résumé and a string of starring credits to her name.

Britney Spears in "Crossroads"

At perhaps the height of her fame, Spears took on a starring role in 2002's "Crossroads," a road-trip story featuring musical interludes and the talents of Dan Aykroyd and Zoe Saldana. The film was a critical dud and a box-office disappointment, and Spears has yet to get another chance at the big screen. In recent years, she's contented herself with cameo appearances in "How I Met Your Mother."

Taylor Swift in "Valentine's Day"

The country superstar appeared as herself in 2009's "Hannah Montana: The Movie," but not until this year's hit ensemble comedy, "Valentine's Day," did Swift slip into an acting role. She played a high school student who falls for her classmate, played by none other than Taylor Lautner. No word yet what her next movie project might be, but her, "Valentine's" director Garry Marshall is gearing up for his next ensemble flick, "New Year's Eve." Ms. Swift, ya interested?

Who is your favorite musician-turned-actor? Talk about it in the comments.

M.I.A. Blasts Lady Gaga, Oprah Winfrey

Posted: 26 Jul 2010 10:39 PM PDT

'[Lady Gaga's] journey isn't that difficult: to go from the f---ing Upper East Side to a f---ing performing arts school ...,' M.I.A. rants to Time Out.
By James Montgomery

Things haven't exactly been going great for M.I.A. as of late — her performance at last weekend's Hard NYC festival was marred by sound issues, disastrous downpours and, according to some, M.I.A.'s less-than-gracious behavior (she reportedly threw a microphone into the audience and spit on photographers) — and now, well, there's even more bad press to throw on the pile.

In a new interview with Time Out London, M.I.A. goes off on targets both new and old, taking potshots at Lady Gaga (whom she's dissed in the past), and, somewhat inexplicably, Oprah Winfrey.

At issue is an apparent slight by Winfrey that occurred at this year's Metropolitan Ball in New York, which had M.I.A. in attack mode.

"Oprah seemed like she was giving me the cold shoulder," she says. "She was with [David Bowie's wife] Iman. Iman was always dancing with me, hugging and kissing me, but Oprah seemed really pissed off with me."

That tirade then quickly segued into her latest dis on Gaga, which called into question her upbringing and just how hard she really had to work to get to where she is today.

"Also, [Winfrey] made this huge speech at the ball praising Lady Gaga about how she is helping Americans to be the best of themselves," M.I.A. said. "There's millions of other Americans who represent that for me. Is [it] about numbers? About how much you're selling? Is it truly about the journey? Because [Lady Gaga's] journey isn't that difficult: to go from the f---ing Upper East Side to a f---ing performing arts school and onto a stage at the museum of f---ing wherever. That journey's about four miles."

The rant — at least what's printed of it — ends there. In an interview with British mag NME earlier this year, M.I.A. accused Gaga of ripping off the work of artists like Madonna and Grace Jones, calling her "a good mimic." As far as we can tell, this is the first time she's sounded off against Winfrey.

Emails to reps for Winfrey and Gaga seeking comment on the story were not responded to by press time.

What do you think of M.I.A.'s accusations against Oprah and Lady Gaga? Tell us in the comments.

DMX Says Turning Himself In Was The 'Best' Decision

'It's one of the first steps in regaining everything I lost,' rapper said prior to serving his sentence on a reckless driving charge.
By Shaheem Reid

The Dog says he is now obedient and will follow the will of God. On Monday, DMX turned himself in to Los Angeles Metropolitan Court for a reckless driving charge he received in 2002. The rap veteran's lawyer, Aja Southern, said he is expected to serve no more than 90 days as part of his plea bargain.

Representatives for the Los Angeles Superior Court system were not available at press time to respond to inquiries made by MTV News.

Before going to jail, X taped an interview in which he spoke about his most recent legal situation. "What's going on today is that I'm going to turn myself in," he said. "Me and my crew, we came to the conclusion that would be best. It was something that happened years ago, a driving in infraction."

X also noted that getting the jail sentence behind him is another step in his personal and professional recovery. "I like L.A., I like the fans, I like to come out here to work. I wanna get that over with," he explained. "It's one of the first steps in regaining everything I lost."

In the video, X looks to be getting in shape, gaining some mass and starting to resemble the man that fans know for terrorizing the mic with his lyrical barks. The Yonkers, New York, native noted that he has a new outlook on spirituality.

"My relationship with God has gotten so much stronger. He's always had his hand on me. He always guided me. I didn't always go where he wanted me to go. But he always had me. Now that I'm actually listening and being obedient, life is so much better."

DMX is working on new music. A track called "Time to Get Paid," which plays throughout his less-than-a-minute interview, is slated to come out soon. He also appears on the remix to "Stop the Party" with Busta Rhymes, Swizz Beatz, Cam'ron and Ghostface Killah.
