Nicki Minaj Says Lil Wayne Is 'In Great Spirits'

Lil Wayne may be physically separated from his Young Money protégés while he serves out a yearlong sentence in prison, but the New Orleans lyricist is just a phone call away whenever his troops need advice.

Weezy speaks to his star pupils, Drake and Nicki Minaj, on a regular basis. And according to Nicki, the Cash Money Records superstar is still doing well, in spite of his incarceration.

"I speak to Wayne, he's in great spirits," the Queens rapper told MTV News about her boss. "He's hilarious, always making me laugh whenever I talk to him. He's his same self it seems to me — just even more business-minded. I speak to him often. I know when he comes out, it's gonna be a problem, 'cause he's one of those people that needs to get out his thoughts. So I would imagine he would probably be in the studio for 60 days straight. He'll probably do three albums the day he comes home."

As it stands now, Lil Wayne is approximately halfway through his one-year term. In March, the rapper pleaded guilty to an attempted gun possession charge, the result of a deal he struck with prosecutors to avoid a harsher penalty. His actual jail term is 10 months, not a calendar year, and if he stays out of trouble — avoiding infractions for violations like the iPod incident, for instance — he is expected to be released as early as November.

Should Wayne get out of jail in November, he'd be coming out just in time to oversee the release of Nicki Minaj's debut album. The femcee announced via Twitter on Thursday that her still-untitled set would arrive November 23. "Yes. It's time. November 23rd," she wrote.

Kristin Cavallari Recalls Her Best And Worst 'Hills' Moments

'I think my biggest thing was the first episode ... I really came in with a bang,' she tells MTV News of season-five appearance.

Kristin Cavallari entered "The Hills" like a human storm during one of the show's most pivotal episodes. Just as Speidi were finally set to tie the knot for real (and Lauren Conrad to say a final farewell), Cavallari walked into the church and the MTV reality series hasn't been the same since.

Not only has the blond star managed, in just under two seasons, to make moves on both Justin Bobby and her ex Brody Jenner, but she also stirred up trouble with Justin's on-again, off-again GF Audrina Patridge, as well as with Brody's ladies Jayde and McKaela. (Kristin even had a little hookup with gal pal Stacie.) So between falling in love and making enemies, we wondered what stood out the most to Kristin. MTV News asked the show's leading lady to give us her most memorable "Hills" moment.

"Gosh, top moment ... I think I had a couple," she told us, recalling her rooftop fight with Audrina over Justin during the premiere episode of the second half of season five. "I think my biggest thing was the first episode where I really came in with a bang," she laughed. "And it was like, 'All right, clearly I'm back.' "

These days, everything's fine between Kristin and Audrina; the two ladies managed to kiss and make up, so to speak. However, one lady Cavallari said she wishes she'd never actually kissed is her bartender pal.

"I think that's sort of my I-wish-I-didn't moment was when I made out with Stacie in Vegas," she explained. "That was one episode I had to call my dad and say, 'Dad, sorry — this is going to be your least favorite episode.' "

It was a moment that not only surprised viewers at home, but her father too. "He was like, 'Oh, great,' and then when he called me — sometimes he'll call me after every episode just to talk about it — he didn't say one word about the episode. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. ... It's probably a bad thing," she laughed.

Despite that one regret, Cavallari admitted she's never been shy about her bad-girl ways. In fact, she always fully embraces them, right through to "The Hills" series finale on Tuesday.

"I think it's funny," she laughed about her carefree attitude when it comes to boys and, well, girls. "Honestly, I think it's fun to play the bad girl, and no one remembers the nice girl, you know?"

Are you sad to see "The Hills" coming to an end. What's your favorite Kristin moment from the series? Tell us in the comments!

Join MTV News all week as we look back at the best of "The Hills" and celebrate the series finale with the cast on Tuesday, July 13.

Wiz Khalifa Calls Rick Ross' 'Super High' Remix 'A Blessing'

'It was a good look for me,' Wiz tells Mixtape Daily of Ross' co-sign.

The O.D.: A Mixtape Daily Exclusive

Wiz Khalifa and his partner Curren$y aligned forces with Rick Ross for "Super High (Sativa Remix)," and the Spiff TV-directed viral video came out this week.

"That was a blessing, dude," Wiz said about the collaboration. "Ross just kept it G, dawg. He seen my movement, he seen Curren$y's movement. He recognized what we do together, but he recognized us as individuals as well as a team. He reached out in a real way. Spiff [TV] called us. I think he reached out to Spitta first. Then Spiff, he reached out to me. I was still on another leg of my tour. So as soon as I got done with the last leg of my tour, soon as I got home, I went straight to the studio and knocked out the verse, sent it to Ross. He was like, 'I love it. I'm flying you out next week. We doing the video.' "

"Yeah, you know, I'm VP, A&R over at Maybach Music Group," said Spiff, who has known Wiz for years. "Ross called me and said he's putting together a remix and he wants Wiz and Curren$y. So I reached out, sent them the track the next day, and they did their thing. They came to ATL, Ross knocked his verse out the next day. I shot the video to Wiz and Curren$y via Twitter."

"It came together on some G sh--," Wiz said. "Ross is hella talented. Everybody knows Spitta's the best. It was only right we do that sh--."

Wiz said the Ross co-sign is his biggest yet. "It was a good look for me, because hasn't been nobody really big, anybody who's as influential in the game right now as Ross is saying, 'I really f---s with Wiz,' or, like, been seen on camera with me. That was a big power move for the both of us."

Aside from Ross, Wiz — who's still trying to figure out when to release his Cabin Fever mixtape — and Curren$y still want to put out a mini-film based on their How Fly tape.

"We always gonna be working. There's never not gonna be something going on with me and Spitta," Khalifa promised. "People can look for music. He just called me the other day. He's about to drop his album, which is amazing. I'm working on my sh--. Then whenever we decide to get back together and do what we do, I think [the Taylor Gang and the Jets] gonna be right here waiting for us."

"Hottest Breakthrough MCs of 2010" Candidate: Yelawolf

Yelawolf just had a show in his hometown of Gadsden, Alabama, and was so moved by what he saw, he was at a loss for words. Luckily, he had rhymes instead.

"You had these white boys with these big-ass trucks with mud all over them," he recalled. "D-boys from the North Side projects rolling up on dunks. You had dune buggies, bikes. It was everything I've been saying coming to form."

Wolf has been toiling underground for years, signing with legendary record exec Kawan "KP" Prather in 2007. He went through getting dropped by Sony Records and being snubbed by Def Jam only to heat up so large, Interscope Records picked him up earlier this year. Wolf's energetic live shows and his performance style — which fuses hip-hop and rock — set him apart. Of late, he's gotten a major co-sign from Big Boi, appearing on the Andre 3000-produced Sir Lucious Left Foot track "You Ain't No DJ."

"That was actually my debut feature on a distributed project with a major artist," said Wolf, who has been on independent projects for Juelz Santana and Slim Thug. "That sh-- is jamming. As soon as I found out, I was rubbing my hands together as to when I could work with Outkast. I've been with KP since '07, waiting on that moment."

On his upcoming debut, Trunk Muzik: 0-60, Yela got a chance to work with another ATL superstar: Gucci Mane.

"I wanted to take advantage of the moment," he explained of working with Gucci on the yet-untitled track. "I was like, 'Let's go do an intro together. Let's go intro this bitch and vibe out like MCs. Let's do this bitch.' That's what we did. Gucci's rock and roll, balls-to-the-wall hip-hop. Straight Southern b-boy rap sh--. I've always been a fan of Gucci's style. I was a huge Crunchy Black fan. Even like the Nutcracker from Group Home, Shawty Lo. Very broken-down, simple rap style. I was excited to have him. It made the record. The record was already crazy; he just took it to that next level."

Wolf's Trunk Muzik: 0-60 is an enhancement of his mixtape Trunk Muzik.

"We picked the 0-60 title because, for one, we didn't want to alienate any of the new fans we were making," he described. "We felt it was too soon to step outside of anywhere we were. With Trunk Muzik, we created a sound and feeling we didn't want to move from. We called it Trunk Muzik: 0-60 because it represents how fast we been moving since we been doing these shows and got a deal with Interscope. Everything is moving. We wanted to mirror that with the music. Picking five of the fan favorites from Trunk Muzik and putting on seven new ones.

"I'm never scared what people are gonna think about music that I make," Yela added. "I just go in there and make music that sounds good to me. And it sounds good to my crew. I just trust my crew. If it leaves the studio and we're happy with it, that's what matters the most to us. Because if we're happy with it, then I can perform it. As long as I can perform that record, I can translate the energy I need to get somebody to understand it. I've worked so hard to get to this moment. I'm just soaking it up, taking it day by day, trying not to let it go to my head. I just love my fans and the fans I'm making. My fans are like no other. Completely original people."

'Predators': Buffet Dining, By Kurt Loder

Adrien Brody's on the menu.

Adrien Brody and Alice Braga in "Predators"
Photo: 20th Century Fox

The strapping beastie of the "Predator" franchise remains pretty much the same after 23 years — dread of lock, moist of mandible. It's the humans in his life who seem to have devolved. In the first film, his chief antagonist was played by that pre-gubernatorial muscle-mountain, Arnold Schwarzenegger. Now, in "Predators," the crafty alien faces off against the willowy Adrien Brody — not an opponent to strike dread in the heart (or whatever) of any self-respecting behemoth, you'd think.

"Predators" is a B movie that knows its job, and does it. Which means, among other things, that making sense is not on its to-do list. The picture opens with a group of people falling from the sky into a jungle. What are they doing here? None of them knows. One minute each of them was sleeping, the next they were plummeting through the clouds. That's that. Where are they? The group's lone woman, Isabelle (Alice Braga), looks around suspiciously. "I've never seen this jungle," she says. "And I've seen most." Isabelle hails from Guatemala, where she no doubt saw quite a bit of jungle, but has lately been employed as a sniper by the Israeli Defense Force, whose missions are not often thought to be jungle-related. But whatever.

The movie germinated from an unproduced 1994 script by pulp fan Robert Rodriguez (one of the producers here), which was more recently refined by Alex Litvak and Michael Finch. Faced with the challenge of revitalizing a creature that has already been the subject of four previous films (if you count two trans-franchise dalliances with the slobbery Alien), they and director Nimród Antal have come up with a clever plot hook. The humans — who include among them a black-ops mercenary, a drug-gang enforcer, an African warlord, a Russian soldier, a mass murderer and a Yakuza killer — are all predators back on their home planet. Well, except for one, who's a doctor. (Another clever plot wrinkle.)

Anyway, they're all prey on this strange planet, which turns out to be an off-world hunting ground for Predators, whose day-trip spacecraft is invisibly parked nearby. As you'd expect, the picture consists — with the exception of a visit to a batty survivor played by Laurence Fishburne — of each of the human interlopers being put away like finger food by the wily monsters. Fortunately, the cast, which is better than you'd expect, makes this an enjoyable exercise. Topher Grace, as the doctor, is a fine sufferer, and Walton Goggins, as the mass murderer (fresh from Death Row), brings the same redneck flair to his role that he does to the hillbilly schemer he plays on "Justified." The effects are also first-rate. We've seen the nasty-looking Predators before, of course, but there's a new creature on the scene — a vicious, tusky attack beast (it's like a cross between a wild boar and a Doberman) — that enlivens the action memorably.

The movie remains boldly nonsensical throughout — would we have it any other way? How likely is it, for example, that the Japanese Yakuza guy (Louis Ozawa Changchien) would just happen to find a samurai sword lying around on the alien planet? (What next, we don't wonder.) And there's a wonderful moment when the exasperated Brody walks right up to one of the Predators and says, "I want off this planet!" Then, as an afterthought, he says, "You understand me, don't you?" As if it mattered.

Pharrell Likens His Scooter To A Rolls-Royce, On 'When I Was 17'

'The 7-Eleven Big Gulp was Moët,' N.E.R.D. frontman recalls of living the good life on the cheap.

The Neptunes' Pharrell Williams may sport designer threads now — Esquire named the Billionaire Boys Club designer one of the world's "Best Dressed Men" two years in a row — but in his teenage days, the producer enjoyed simplicity, whether it was his wheels or his hangout spot.

"When I was 17, I had a scooter and that was my Rolls-Royce," Pharrell says on Saturday's episode of "When I Was 17," which also features "Jersey Shore" star Snooki and actor James Van Der Beek. "My scooter was a Honda Elite and it was black. And you couldn't tell me anything about it because I thought it was the coolest thing ever."

"He couldn't afford a car, so he got the next best thing," his N.E.R.D. bandmate Shay explained.

One half of the duo Clipse, Pusha T, remembered riding around with his friend on the nimble two-wheeler. "He'd come and pick me up on this scooter, and we'd ride everywhere throughout the city," the Virginia native said of his and Williams' routine.

The pair would often venture over to 7-Eleven, as the chain of convenience stores was a particular favorite of the Grammy-winning producer.

"For us, at least, it was the place to be," Pharrell said. "Do you understand what the 7-Eleven Big Gulp was? The 7-Eleven Big Gulp was Moët. But a Slurpee? [That] was Cristal," P said, likening the frozen drinks to fine champagne. "We over here poppin' Slurpees, kid. That was the life. When I was 17, these were the things that mattered."

"When I Was 17" — this week featuring Pharrell Williams, Snooki and James Van Der Beek — airs Saturday at 11 a.m. on MTV.

'Predators' Cheat Sheet: Everything You Need To Know

Before heading to a new planet, we hunted down these fun facts.
By Eric Ditzian

Topher Grace and Alice Braga in "Predators"

How on Earth — or in the alien skies above — do you go from the badassery of the 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger-starring "Predator" to the vapid, nearly franchise-destroying schlock that was 2007's "Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem"? Don't look for answers here.

Not now, at least, because we're here to celebrate a resurrection, as director Nimród Antal and producer Robert Rodriguez have delivered "Predators," a film that returns the series to its sci-fi/horror roots while taking the story not only in a new direction, but to a new planet.

It's there that Royce (Adrien Brody) finds himself, an ex-military man taken hostage and dumped on an alien world's game preserve, where he and other humans are hunted by those iconic, freaky-looking creatures — all dreadlocks, serrated blades and laser sights. It takes Royce and his crew awhile to figure out just what the heck is going on, but you don't have to be lost as well. That's where MTV News' cheat sheet comes in, bringing you everything you need to know about "Predators," from its initial development to its release on Friday (July 9).

Predators, Mount Up
Rodriguez actually had plans to revive the franchise in the mid-'90s, but his script was wildly ambitious and essentially un-filmable at a budget with which Fox was comfortable. With the script gathering dust, the "Alien vs. Predator" series kicked off.

Not until April 2009 did Fox haul out Rodriguez's draft with the idea of finally bringing it to the big screen. But the filmmaker didn't plan to direct "Predators," and the search was on for a new helmer. Rumor had it that Neil Marshall ("Doomsday") was being considered, but the job ultimately went to Antal ("Armored").

"He reminded me of Quentin [Tarantino] with how he was able to work with a group of very strong, singular actor talents and make it look effortless," Rodriguez said at the time.

Replacing Arnie
While Rodriguez told MTV News he wanted Schwarzenegger to at least cameo in "Predators," the true casting challenge was finding someone to fill the Governator's boots. That someone, it turned out, was the Oscar-winning Brody, a guy who doesn't look like a conventional Hollywood action hero.

The Internet issued a collective, "Really?!" at the casting news, but Antal was quick to defend his star. "If we cast a Vin Diesel in that role or if we cast anyone who is Arnold-esque, we would have been attacked for doing that," he said. "So we decided early on to go in a very different direction as far as the casting process, but it turned out fantastic."

For his part, Brody ignored the talk and hit the gym, gaining 25 pounds to play Royce. As he prepared, the cast filled out, including Topher Grace, Danny Trejo, Alice Braga and Laurence Fishburne.

"A bit shady, crazy, surviving on his own, kind of a ratty character," Fishburne told us of the role.

Get Freaked
Filming kicked off in October 2009 with a prime directive. "We knew that we had to make people scared of the predators again," Rodriguez told us. "And by doing that, we needed characters that were afraid of them and that you believed in."

It was not hard to argue that they accomplished this task when the heart-thumping trailer arrived in March, featuring disturbed humans and their overly aggressive alien captors. "We use a lot of practical effects; it's not make-believe," Brody said. "It should be a very intense, harrowing journey for these guys, and I think it will be pretty fun."

"We wanted to be inspired by the first film, to take that very classic creature and the dynamics," Rodriguez explained. "[Antal] had to balance that every day, at every moment — how much to make it reverential to the first film and how much just to make it."

Lady Gaga Fans Get Dolled Up, Take Us Along To Monster Ball Tour

Follow two Little Monsters as they head to Gaga's concert at New York's Madison Square Garden.

NEW YORK — Oh. My. Gaga.

I'm still dancing, sparkling and "showing my teeth" after Lady Gaga's epic show at Madison Square Garden last night. My friend Liz and I went in full "glitter and grease" attire to Lady Gaga's Monster Ball. After accumulating Gaga garb for months, the time had come for us to finally unleash our inner monsters.

We went to Lady Gaga's Monster Ball at Radio City Music Hall back in January, where I'd worn leggings, a conservative leotard and clip-on bangs. Compared to the racy getups of her other fans, I was totally tame and felt a tad underdressed! For this show, I wanted to go in a full costume of Gaga-inspired glory.

I started with a simple, black leotard. (We're in the midst of a heat wave here in NYC, and honestly, who wears pants to see Lady Gaga?!) At the hardware store, I insisted on trying on 9 feet of chains, which I would wrap around my body and safety-pin into place. (I was going for that whole prisoner look Gaga rocks in her "Telephone" video.) A partial weave would not suffice for Gagaloo round two, so I searched high and low for a bright, Mother Monster-inspired, canary-yellow wig. Fishnets and bejeweled, fingerless gloves were a given. Liz wore glitter-covered high heels and a provocative mesh leotard, dyed the tips of her hair hot pink and drew on a "Just Dance"-inspired lightning bolt underneath her right eye. A girl can never be too sparkly.

Liz and I got ready for the show in my small, sweltering apartment, spending extra time on our dramatic makeup that would undoubtedly melt off our faces before the night's end. We clonked down six flights of stairs from my walkup to the street wearing 5-inch heels, and definitely got some confused stares from passersby. Our giddy anticipation and adrenaline escalated as we cabbed to the arena, belting out "Alejandro" and dancing in the backseat.

The moment we stepped out of the taxi and into the crowd of Little Monsters waiting to enter MSG, we instantly fit in. Confused stares and questioning side-glances were replaced with celebration and camaraderie among new friends. There were men in S&M getups, women with lacy headdresses and sequin gowns, young kids in pleather and everything in between. An indescribable, excited energy united us all. Gender, race, sexual orientation and class truly disappeared, and on this night, we each felt like the guest of honor at a giant, judgment-free party.

Liz and I made it to our seats just in time to see Gaga take the stage. The crowd screamed wildly for the iconic woman who proudly "brings all the freaks together." She defies convention not only with her wardrobe, but with her unapologetic attitude.

The costume changes, dancing, piano-playing and sheer talent are an amazing, theatrical spectacle to watch, but the real genius of the Monster Ball is Gaga's ability to make her audience feel like an integral part of the show. In a sold-out arena of thousands, Gaga is able to make every person feel an intimate connection to her and to each other. Her message is inspiring and uplifting, adamantly telling her beloved Little Monsters to believe in themselves. It's not the cliché, Hollywood "follow your dreams" that artists often halfheartedly spit out to their fans. It's a sincere command for us to banish our self-doubt and love each other and ourselves just the way we are. And as I sang and danced in my costume with Liz and my newfound friends, I experienced something much deeper than the flashing lights and falling glitter: Gaga's message is to have faith in yourself and live with love.

Gaga finished the night with an encore performance of "Bad Romance." For me, it was the highlight of the entire show, as all of us together sang the words and danced without inhibition. I love that the song conjures up different memories and emotions for every fan — probably a lot of negative ones, but together with Gaga, we turn it into something empowering.

As we left the show, we talked to some other Little Monsters about their favorite parts of the night. Everyone loved the costumes, the hype and the glam, but underneath it all, people loved Gaga's message of freedom and unapologetic self-expression the most.

So thank you, Lady Gaga, and thank you Little Monsters all over the world. I walked away one strong, happy "free bitch."

Would you get dolled up for a Lady Gaga concert? Let us know what your costume would be in the comments!

They are beyond disappointed in New York, angry as hell in Cleveland and left out in the cold in Chicago and New Jersey. The NBA's MVP of the last two years — and the most coveted free agent in the history of sports — LeBron James finally picked his team on Thursday. During a live, one-hour special on ESPN titled "The Decision," King James told the world he would be signing with the Miami Heat. The Heat now have arguably the most formidable threesome of any lineup with James joining all-stars Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade.

Obviously, the fans in South Beach are partying it up right now. We asked some of their hometown hip-hop heroes what they thought of the addition of LBJ.

"I've been a Heat fan since the first day they turned the lights on in the Miami Arena," said Dre of production duo Cool & Dre. "Today is a special day for my city, one we'll never forget. Wade, we got 'em — five straight [championships]! 'Bron, thank you, and welcome to Dade County. No ceilings!"

DJ Khaled told MTV News he has the perfect theme song for LeBron and the Heat: His own, "All I Do Is Win."

"With 'Bron coming, all we'll do is win, win, win, no matter what!" an excited Khaled said via email after Thursday's announcement. "The city deserves this. WE THE BEST! Miyayo!!!!!"

We'll have Rick Ross' reaction for you Friday (July 9), but for now, the Bawse has spoken out in approval via Twitter, where LeBron himself just launched an account.

"Hate is a wasted emotion!!" he posted on his page, @rickyrozay, addressing critics who say the Heat have now created a super-team. "[Shout out] @heat season tickets. Courtside seats went up 30stacks in 30mins!!!! I got 5 anyway!!!!"

Ross also compared himself to the L.A. Lakers' most well-known fan. "I'm Jack Nicholson @heat games!!!!" he wrote. "Miami the spotlight of the world!!!!! Woooooowwwwww."

Nicki Minaj promised MTV News recently that her debut album is coming this year, and that promise took one step closer to reality when she tweeted the album's release date on Thursday (July 8).

"Yes. It's time. November 23rd," she wrote.

Minaj talked with MTV News about the LP, which is the most hotly anticipated hip-hop debut since Drake's, earlier this week.

"The album is coming along just spectacular," Minaj said. "I been doing a lot of work with Swizz [Beatz], and the stuff that we been coming upon is magical. When people hear the album, they're going to get to know Onika [her birth name is Onika Maraj]. And no one knows Onika. I really didn't think I would be this excited about the songs that I'm coming up with. I'm really, really proud."

The Lil Wayne protégé had previously said that she's in no rush to complete the LP.

So far, she's released the song "Massive Attack," and the rapper is currently prepping the video for "Your Love," an accidental single that landed atop the Billboard Rap Songs chart.

In addition to opening up about her life, Nicki Minaj will be introducing another alter ego on the project: Roman Zolanski. But the animated femcee was hush on any details about that.

"I'm gonna let the album do that," she demurred. "As of now, you'll know Nicki and you'll know Roman, my crazy alter ego Roman Zolanski. But you'll meet Onika before the year ends."

What do you think about Nicki Minaj's album plans? Let us know in the comments!

Lil Wayne Is 'Much Funnier' After Detoxing In Jail, Fat Joe Says

Lil Wayne has been in prison for approximately four months now, after being sentenced by a Manhattan judge to one year behind bars for attempted gun possession. But his actual prison term is 10 months, not a calendar year, and if he stays out of trouble (and has no more infractions for possessing an iPod), the Cash Money recording artist could be released from jail as early as November.

In the meantime, Wayne has kept busy, blogging on his fan-appreciation website, recording a verse for Drake's "Light Up" and accepting visitors like Diddy.

Fat Joe recently ventured to see Wayne in Rikers Island. The Bronx-bred rapper described his frequent collaborator as being in "great spirits" and said he's operating well while detoxing from the codeine-laced drinks he so often raps about.

"Lil Wayne, it's such a shame," Joe told MTV News. "He's in great spirits. I love Lil Wayne; that's like my little brother. He's just the coolest dude on Earth. I tell you one thing, him not being high made me realize how much funnier he is. This guy has jokes. We were up in there for four hours, just telling jokes, dying laughing, falling on the floor.

"He's a beautiful dude," Joe continued. "He did what he did. He had a gun on him, but people don't really know how much of a great father that he is, great of a person he is, a friend, a loyal dude. He's charismatic. It's just sad to see him over there like that, but I'm pretty sure he learned his lesson, and he's gonna be focused."

Once Wayne is released from jail in New York, the rapper will begin serving three years of probation, stemming from a 2008 arrest in Arizona, when authorities discovered drugs, drug paraphernalia and a firearm aboard the rapper's tour bus.

Do you think Lil Wayne's music will be different when he's released from jail? Talk about it in the comments.

'Breaking Dawn' Part Two Release Date Not Set For Summer 2012

Summit exec says the final 'Twilight' movie's release date is 'still the source of discussions.'
By Eric Ditzian

In June, Summit Entertainment announced that "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn" will be released as two separate films, with the first part arriving on November 18, 2011. Though no release date for the second part has been announced, the conventional wisdom has been that the second part would follow in the summer of 2012.

Not so fast. Summit distribution chief Richie Fay told MTV News that no such decision has been made and that the studio is still exploring multiple release dates, not just ones in the summer.

"We've targeted a number of dates, and we have yet to determine when it will happen," Fay said. "We haven't even determined that it will be the summer. It's still the source of discussions."

Of course, studios always explore various release dates for pictures, especially established blockbusters, and the fact that Summit hasn't committed the second "Breaking Dawn" to the summer season shouldn't be mistaken for confusion or indecision within studio headquarters.

But the 2012 summer movie calendar is rapidly filling up, not necessarily with films that widely share an audience with "Breaking Dawn," but with established franchises or properties in their own right. That May will offer "The Avengers," "Madagascar 3" and "Men in Black 3," while June delivers a "Star Trek" sequel. The rebooted "Spider-Man" has already nabbed the July 4th slot (occupied this year by "Eclipse"), followed closely by another "Ice Age" and a third "Batman."

Surely there's room here for "Breaking Dawn," but Summit now has experience releasing "Twilight" movies both in the summer and the fall. And, as Fay says, the studio might not be ready to pick a season for "Breaking Dawn" until "Eclipse" finishes up its theatrical run.

"We might have a preference when we see where 'Eclipse' ends up," he said of choosing one season over another. "It certainly might color our thinking, but we're comfortable with either place. Right now, it's a bit early in that stage of planning."

Check out everything we've got on "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" and "Breaking Dawn."

Lindsay Lohan's Lawyer Quits

Actress was sentenced to 90 days in jail two days ago.

Lindsay Lohan's lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley has resigned in the midst of the starlet's ongoing legal drama.

TMZ reports that when the website contacted Holley for comment Thursday (July 8), she told the site that she was no longer representing Lohan. Lohan's New York lawyer, Stephanie Ovadia, verified the attorney's exit. "I can confirm [Holley] is not representing Lindsay at this point," Ovadia told the New York Daily News, adding, "Lindsay is in the process of hiring new counsel."

Holley has reportedly been replaced by lawyer Tiffany Feder-Cohen. Holley did not respond to MTV News' requests for comment at press time, and Feder-Cohen's office would not confirm nor deny that the lawyer is now representing Lohan.

Holley's departure is an abrupt move as the attorney was still representing Lohan Thursday morning and even released a statement to MTV News defending the troubled star. "Ms. Lohan and I are extremely disappointed in the sentence handed down by Judge Revel," Holley said in a statement on July 8, just two days after her client was sentenced to 90 days in jail followed by 90 days in rehab. Holley also blasted the punishment handed down by Revel, insisting it is too severe. "We believe that the penalty is far harsher than what others would have received under similar circumstances."

Holley said Lohan's ability to adhere to the terms of her probation was affected by the demands of her professional obligations. "The reality is that Ms. Lohan, like most defendants, had to balance work commitments with court requirements," Holley continued in the statement. "To be punished so severely for doing so, particularly in light of the fact that she substantially complied with each of her probationary conditions, is harsh and unfair."

Others in the legal community have echoed Holley's sentiments that the sentence is severe. "I think it was really harsh, especially in light of the fact that she was basically compliant as of yesterday's court date to be done by [July] 15th," attorney Scott Leemon told MTV News on Wednesday. "This judge just wanted to prove a point that no one messes with her in her court. I've had clients mess up on probation, but even when the prosecution asked for only 30 days, she gave her 90 plus 90 of inpatient? Without a doubt, this decision was made by the judge [after] she felt disrespected by Lindsay, who didn't seem like she got the point," said Leeman, who has represented stars such as 50 Cent and Busta Rhymes.

"The fact that the court gave her three times what the people had asked for [prosecutors requested a 30-day sentence] is surprising, and in some cases you read that as a 'celebrity tax,' " said Stacey Richman, who has represented Lil Wayne. However, Richman added that Judge Revel has also been generous to the star. "If she's flaunted her probation not once, but three or four times, the judge has been very kind in giving her so many opportunities to stay with the program."

Why Is Lindsay Lohan On So Many Medications?

Posted: 08 Jul 2010 01:46 AM PDT

'It's too complicated a picture to add medications into the mix so soon,' one doctor tells MTV News.
By Gil Kaufman

Following the release of a probation report that confirmed the list of prescription medications Lindsay Lohan is taking while she is under a strict no-drugs probation order — including Zoloft, Adderall and Dilaudid — addiction experts contacted by MTV News questioned whether the actress is pursuing a healthy path to sobriety.

"Adderall is an amphetamine and a powerful stimulant drug used to treat ADHD, and to someone who has a history of cocaine abuse, those of us who specialize in addiction treatment would be very cautious about giving someone with stimulant addiction another stimulant drug," said Dr. Arnold M. Washton, a New York psychologist with more than 30 years of expertise in treating addiction.

Though Washton has not treated Lohan and is not familiar with the reasoning behind the cocktail of drugs she has been prescribed, he said it is typically not a good idea to prescribe stimulants to someone with a history of cocaine use out of a concern that such medications could rekindle a desire for the illegal drug.

"For someone who has ADHD and is abusing cocaine, opiates and alcohol, you can't do an accurate diagnosis until they're off all substances for a while," he said. "It's too complicated a picture to add medications into the mix so soon because there may be conditions there that you can't see until the brain has had a chance to recover."

According to a copy of the report obtained by TMZ, Lohan is cleared to take the antidepressants Zoloft and Trazodone; Adderall, a stimulant used to control ADHD; the acid-reflux medicine Nexium; and the very powerful painkiller Dilaudid, whose effects have been compared to heroin and which she was originally prescribed after dental surgery several months ago.

Lohan is subject to random drug and alcohol testing, but because those drugs have been court-approved, positive tests for them are not considered violations. In fact, on May 27, she tested positive for amphetamines, but it was not considered a violation because of the Adderall prescription. She also tested positive for amphetamines and opiates on June 2 and June 7, but they were also not violations because of the Adderall and Dilaudid prescriptions. June 16 and June 24 tests also turned up positive for amphetamines; results of a June 30 test were not yet available.

Lindsay Lohan's father, Michael Lohan, has made several public pleas about his daughter in the past few weeks, including an open letter in court on Tuesday, in which he begged the judge in her probation case to get Lindsay the help she needs to avoid having her become "the next Hollywood statistic."

He specifically asked that Lohan's prescription-drug use be "carefully monitored" via random drug testing because "if prescription drugs are excluded from testing, Lindsay may use that loophole to become intoxicated and pose a danger to herself and others." Now, even as the troubled actress prepares to report to jail on July 20 for a 90-day sentence in connection with a probation violation from a pair of 2007 DUI cases, Washton said Lohan's brain might not have had time to recover from the "neurological insult" of suspected years of abuse of alcohol and drugs before being bombarded again by the prescription meds. He was particularly surprised by the presence of Dilaudid on the list.

"That is a very potent painkilling opiate that is generally used in hospitals and not prescribed on an outpatient basis," he said of the drug used to control post-surgical or chronic pain. "Especially in someone with a history of opiate addiction. There are many other drugs that are much safer in terms of relapse potential. It just doesn't hang together from a clinical perspective. It doesn't make any sense."

While in themselves the combination of drugs Lohan is taking is not necessarily lethal, Washton said there is always the danger of Lohan abusing the medications. "Is she on a course of recovery or on a course of having her substance abuse legitimized by prescription drugs?" he wondered. Washton also noted that it is not unusual for patients with a history of drug and alcohol abuse to suffer from anxiety, depression and insomnia, conditions that are typically treated by drugs such as Zoloft and the non-addictive Trazodone, which acts as a sort of sedative. But, he added, he cannot recall the last time he saw a patient getting Dilaudid by prescription. "It just doesn't happen," he said of the drug, whose effects are similar to those of the highly addictive morphine.

Human behavior expert and celebrity life coach Patrick Wanis said the situation Lohan is in reminds him of similar ones we've seen recently with other celebrities, such as Heath Ledger and Brittany Murphy, who were taking potentially dangerous mixes of prescription drugs.

"I don't agree with the cocktail of medications," said Wanis, who does not prescribe medicine and is not privy to the logic of Lohan's doctors. "I believe in going for the root cause instead of treating the symptoms." He noted that any time you put someone on multiple medications it can lead to multiple side effects, which could result in erratic behavior.

Based on his observations, Wanis said the medication can only make things worse for Lohan, who he said appears to lack stability and a support system in her life and who does not appear to be dealing with the core emotional issues that might be driving her addiction. "Lindsay's real issue is related to her dysfunctional relationship with her father and mother ... and maybe [jail] will allow her to look at her life from a different perspective, away from the glitz and glamour and Hollywood lifestyle," he said.

In addition to pointing to the example of Britney Spears, who gained control over her chaotic life by repairing her parental relationships, Wanis pointed to Robert Downey Jr., whose life and career were in serious jeopardy until 2004, when he finally admitted that he was powerless to control his abusive tendencies. "The difference was, he was aware it was destroying his life," Wanis said of Downey. "I'm not sure Lindsay knows it's destroying her life. ... When [she] keeps returning to parties, it shows you that she doesn't have the self-control and discipline and can't stop her own behavior ... that she is not in control of her life."

LeBron James Heads To Miami Heat

The NBA Superstar announces long-awaited decision, saying decision to leave hometown Cleveland motivated by desire 'to win.'

It was a move that will surely go down in sports history.

But after a protracted wait, King James finally announced, at 9:27 p.m. ET, he'd be joining the Miami Heat. LeBron James' decision to televise his announcement became an event that seemed as if it could have been ripped from the pages of a screenplay. Sitting before ESPN cameras, the former Cleveland Cavaliers forward had millions of viewers anticipating his final choice with baited breath.

"I feel like this is going to give me the best opportunity to win — and to win for multiple years. I want to be able to win championships," he said, explaining what motivated him to venture to Miami.

"This process has been everything I thought and more. I put myself in the position to have this process, where I could hear teams' pitches and figure out what was the best possibility for me to win ... and be happy," James said during an interview before his big announcement.

The 25-year-old revealed that it was a really humbling experience to be in the position he'd found himself in, as multiple teams vied for his attention. James thanked all of those teams, saying he'd made the decision earlier Thursday morning (July 8) and adding that in the preceding weeks, he often changed his mind on a day-to-day basis.

"I woke up, had a great conversation with my mom, once I had that conversation with her, I was set," he said. James is considered to be the most prized free agent in league history, and he was the last of the top free agents to announce where he'd land. The major factor in his decision, he said, was the best opportunity for him to win, both now and in the future.

"Ever since I was a rookie or in high school ... that was the number one thing for me," he said. "I've done some great things in my seven years and I want to continue to do that," he continued about his tenure in Cleveland.

The announcement comes after what felt like an eternity of a waiting period, with the two-time NBA MVP finally ending months of speculation about where he would play basketball next season. (James is only one of two players to earn the MVP accolade twice by the age of 25; Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is the other.)

Diehard NBA fans and casual watchers alike had been guessing about where James would go in 2010, many since the NBA superstar signed his last contract back in 2007. Before his announcement, speculation was heavy: Would he break his hometown team, Cleveland's, heart? Would he go to Miami and join his former U.S. Olympic teammates Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh? Or would he go to New York or Chicago?

Hours before the announcement on Thursday, James made an appearance at his basketball camp, arriving mid-afternoon with former teammate Damon Jones. Others in attendance included top college coaches, including Duke's Mike Krzyzewski, North Carolina's Roy Williams, West Virginia's Bob Huggins and Syracuse's Jim Boeheim.

James gave his decision during an hourlong broadcast that aired live ESPN from a Boys & Girls Club in Greenwich, Connecticut. The aim of the special program, James' said, was also to raise at least $1 million to aid James' foundation.

The sweet, gleeful sound of a text-message alert woke Jane Lynch up Thursday morning (July 8).

"I was aroused from a deep sleep!" the actress told People magazine about her 5 a.m. text. "It's always a surprise and it's always exciting."

Lynch was being informed that she was nominated for an Emmy for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy for her work on "Glee" and also for a guest spot on CBS' "Two and a Half Men."

Likewise, co-star Matthew Morrison was nominated for Best Lead Actor in a Comedy and told the magazine that he prepped himself for the early morning Emmy announcements by running 7 miles.

"You try to not put too much importance on something like this, and I want to say it doesn't matter to me, but I can't seem to wipe this smile off my face right now," he said.

"Glee" racked up 19 nominations, which Morrison said set off a text-message chain.

"I talked to [creator] Ryan [Murphy and] I'm so happy for [fellow nominee] Chris Colfer. I texted Jane and I texted Lea [Michele], and I texted the hair and makeup department! We have all been in the loop," he said.

Colfer, 20, plays newly out-of-the-closet high school student Kurt Hummel. "I knew there was the possibility, but I don't think I could have expected this," he said, adding that he phoned just about everyone, including "the lunch ladies from my high school and pretty much anyone!"

Colfer also told USA Today that the recognition was extra special because many of his fans have shared with him the significance of his character.

"I know how important the character is to so many people, especially kids who have been told it's not OK to be who they are," he said. "The thing I'm most excited about is those kids get to see Kurt get nominated."

The "Glee" actors weren't the only ones sending around text messages. "Mad Men" star Jon Hamm told USA Today that he "woke up to 18 texts. That's sort of a new development," said the actor, who also was nominated for his guest stint on NBC's "30 Rock."

The 62nd annual awards show will air Sunday, August 20.

Lady Gaga's fans in the U.S. will finally be able to pick up the pop star's collection of revamped hits, Lady Gaga — The Remix when the album hits stores Stateside on August 3. The album — which features reworked hits from production stars such as Madonna collaborator Stuart Price and artists like dance-pop band Passion Pit — has already sold more than 500,000 units internationally.

The album features 10 tracks from Gaga's albums The Fame and The Fame Monster. Gaga's Little Monsters can bump remixed versions of hits like "Alejandro," "Bad Romance," "Just Dance," "LoveGame," "Paparazzi," "Poker Face" and "Telephone."

Lady Gaga — The Remix should allow fans to experience the ubiquitous singer's major hits in a new way. Mother Monster is already cementing her superstar status by becoming the first living person to collect more than 10 million Facebook fans, a staggering figure that even bests President Barack Obama (Gaga also has more Twitter followers and YouTube subscribers than the prez).

The album should tide over Gaga's fans until the pop star unleashes her follow-up to The Fame Monster. However, there is a light at the end of the tunnel: The star recently revealed that she has finished recording her next album. "I've been working on it for months now, and I feel very strongly that it's finished right now," Gaga told Rolling Stone. "It came so quickly. Some artists take years; I don't. I write music every day."

Drake 'Good Morning America' Concert Falls Through

Another Drake show in New York has been nixed before the rapper even got a chance to take the stage. Drizzy was in talks to play a free outdoor show July 16 as part of ABC's "Good Morning America" summer concert series. However, the Drake show has been squashed and the cast of Broadway's "American Idiot" will fill the upcoming slot instead.

A spokesperson for ABC confirmed that a potential Drake show was in the works. "We were interested in having Drake perform, but he was never officially booked," an ABC rep told MTV News. In addition, a spokesperson for the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation told MTV News that concert organizers had simply decided to go with another act. "There was an open date on the calendar for July 16, but they decided to feature the cast of the Broadway show 'American Idiot,' " a rep said.

A rep for Drizzy also told the New York Daily News that there was a "booking in place" but did not offer any additional details.

Reports have surfaced indicating that safety might have been a factor in passing on Drizzy for a "GMA" appearance. According to the Daily News, the New York City Police Department pulled the plug on the planned show after the city's parks department failed to provide the security that the NYPD deemed necessary for such an event. The parks department spokesperson did not confirm whether security issues were a factor in not moving forward with the Drake show.

The news comes in the wake of a Drake concert in NYC that was canceled June 15 when thousands of fans unexpectedly showed up. Drizzy was expected to perform a free show at New York's South Street Seaport (pop group Hanson were also on the bill), but the NYPD put the kibosh on the concert after roughly 10,000 fans swarmed the event.

Days later, Jay-Z also ran into issues mounting a concert on top of the marquee of New York's Ed Sullivan Theater for an appearance on the "Late Show With David Letterman." City officials axed the surprise concert once fans got wind of the show beforehand. However, Jigga — joined by Eminem — ultimately finagled an outdoor appearance and performed on the building's roof. The MCs didn't need a permit to rock out on the roof since it is private property.

Are you bummed that Drake won't be on "Good Morning America"? Let us know in the comments.

Ke$ha Dons Fur Coat, Poses On Motorcycle For 'Take It Off' Video

Pop star vamps it up for her latest clip from Animal.
By Jocelyn Vena

She angered fictional parents in her "Tik Tok" video, pranced around with the boys of 3OH!3 in her "Blah Blah Blah" clip and frolicked with a bearded boyfriend in an animated desert for her "Your Love Is My Drug" video. It might seem like Ke$ha had already done it all, but she ups the ante again in her latest clip.

In photos from the singer's "Take It Off" video set, she's seen wearing really, really short shorts, a white fur coat and even rocking super-high platforms while posing on a motorcycle. And Ke$ha even returns to the desert, joined by a number of dancers in the sand.

For the video, it looks like Ke$ha ditched her signature waves for straightened locks, a look that is more polished than we're used to seeing from the party-girl pop star. But, of course, Ke$ha is keeping it dirrrty by including some face paint and covering herself in the aforementioned sand.

"Take It Off" is the latest single from Ke$ha's highly infectious Animal debut, released earlier this year. In the past, Ke$ha has said that the album is a perfect representation of who she was as a person while she was recording it with super-producers Max Martin and Dr. Luke.

"I'm excited about it, because it kind of accurately documents my life over the past four years," explained Ke$ha, who is currently on the road with Rihanna. "And I think any girl, and hopefully guys too, can relate to the record. I talk about pretty much anything — you name it. ... I think that throughout the album, what I'm really proud of — I think every song you can tell it's me. It's all really honest — almost to a fault — and really genuine."

What do you think of the latest looks from Ke$ha's new video? Tell us in the comments!

Lindsay Lohan's Sentence Is 'More Than Fair,' Perez Hilton Says

'She has been given so many opportunities in the past,' gossip blogger tells MTV News.

Lindsay Lohan released a statement Thursday (July 8) through her lawyer calling her recent jail and rehab sentencing "unfair." Gossip blogger Perez Hilton, however, thinks this is just the medicine Lohan needs to get her act together.

"Do I think Lindsay Lohan's sentencing was fair? Absolutely! Was it fair that Lindsay only served 90 some minutes last time she went to jail and then got released? No!" Hilton told MTV News on Thursday. "So, finally, fairness is catching up with Lindsay."

Hilton said Lohan has had her chances and that now is the time for her to finally seize this moment and get her life back on track, even if she doesn't see it that way. "She has been given so many opportunities in the past, so now that her lawyer and her have released a statement saying that it's unfair, I want to laugh at them," he said. "That's just ridiculous. It's more than fair."

While it is still unknown how much of her jail term she will serve before she heads to court-ordered rehab, Hilton said Lohan should prepare to serve all of it. "I think Lindsay should be prepared to serve a full 90 days, and she should be thankful for it," he said. Why? "Because it really is the best thing that could happen for her in addition [to the rehab].

"I think Lindsay will hold up just fine in jail," he continued. "The Lohans know how to handle incarceration. Lindsay's father could give some tips."

What still surprises Hilton most about Lohan's latest woes is the fact that she had planned to have a birthday party, which she eventually skipped, just a day after her Tuesday hearing.

"What is so incredulous to me is how above the law she thought she was," he said. "She was scheduled to be in court on Tuesday, and on Wednesday, she had a birthday party planned. That meant, in her mind, she was not expecting at all to be sentenced."

Do you think Lindsay's sentence was unfair? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
