After four weeks and more than 200,000 votes, Wiz Khalifa is MTV News' "Hottest Breakthrough MC of 2010," beating out some 19 other candidates in a poll decided by you, the MTVNews.com readers.

The Kush & Orange Juice star won a tough competition, beating fellow top-five finalists Nicki Minaj, J. Cole, Travis Porter and Diggy Simmons. (Check back on Monday for the official poll results and rankings.)

The announcement was made Sunday (July 25) on MTV2's "Sucker Free Summit."

More than 200,000 votes were tallied, and Wiz's loyal Taylor Gang following was out in force, propelling the woozy-flowed rapper into the top spot.

Wiz broke onto the scene more than five years ago with his first mixtape, and his rise has been steady and deliberate, as he's gradually built a strong following and won over peers and DJs alike with his easygoing charm and laid-back rhymes.

"I'm digging Wiz. I'm digging what he's doing, especially coming from a place like Pittsburgh," DJ Drama told MTV News. "It's not necessarily that [Wiz] is a product of his environment, but it's always good to see someone put a city on the map [like Wiz has]."

To recap the rules, this poll was strictly limited to up-and-coming talent: artists could not have released a major-label album by June 21, 2010, or been voted into a previous "Hottest MCs in the Game" top 10, so MCs like Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, Andre 3000, Eminem, Kanye West and even Drake — our #3 Hottest MC last year - and chart-topper B.o.B were not eligible. (We'll have the 2010 "Hottest MCs" rollout later this year.) Voters were asked to base their decisions on the following factors: The MC's musical skill (rhyme ability, flow and songwriting) as well as their buzz on the street and the impact they've had on the game so far.

We'll have lots more from the "Hottest Breakthroughs" in the coming days — thanks to everyone who voted, tweeted and otherwise got involved! And keep an eye out for MTV News' "Hottest MCs in the Game" later this year!

On Thursday, the "Jersey Shore" crew will celebrate the second season of their show, which chronicles their adventures as they fist-pump their way through Miami. In honor of this week's premiere, MTV News has compiled a cheat sheet of where Snooki, the Situation, Pauly D, JWoww and the crew pumped iron, caught some fake rays and cleaned their clothes — in other words, where they engaged in GTL while in the Sunshine State's hottest party town.

While in Miami, the "Jersey Shore" cast would work out at the Xtreme Gym. "I see the guys come in three or four times a week. They're nice people," owner Harold Perez told MTV News. "They really like to work out. The girls went out running, they like to sweat. But the guys, they look in the mirror all the time."

When the crew wasn't at the gym, they would hit up Captive Sun in Miami Beach, where owner Robert assured MTV that they engage in "the more exotic forms of tanning."

"The guys were here the most. Pauly, he loves the standup. He's first in the standup," he explained. "That's his bed. The girls, they lived here [in this bed] and in the spray. The guys couldn't get back to this bed 'cause the girls [would say], 'You got to go through us.' "

After hitting the gym and the tanning salon, the "Jersey Shore" crew would do their laundry at the Wash Club. "It's a full-service laundry facility. We have the tickets that they actually fill out — every single day there was a drop-off and a pickup, every single day," owner Alex Shvarts said. "They definitely want to stay clean."

Are you excited to see the "Jersey Shore" crew GTL all over Miami? Tell us in the comments!

SAN DIEGO - Marvel Studios stole the show at San Diego Comic-Con with their Hall H panel on Saturday. After kicking things off with a teaser for and an unfinished scene from "Captain America," Marvel unveiled the "Thor" trailer, and then a teaser for "The Avengers," seemingly pulling out all of the stops to show off their Marvel Universe film series.

The biggest news to come out of the "Avengers" reveal was in regard to the cast lineup: Jeremy Renner will play Clint Barton a.k.a. Hawkeye and Mark Ruffalo replaces Edward Norton as Bruce Banner a.k.a. the Hulk. On hand on Saturday was the "Avengers" principal cast thus far, including Samuel L. Jackson, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Clark Gregg, Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth, as well as producer Kevin Feige and director Joss Whedon.

A small sampling of "Captain America" footage was screened as well. Both a teaser trailer showing Evans as Captain America for the first time and a scene featuring Hugo Weaving before he becomes the villain Red Skull were premiered before the cast took time to answer fan questions.

"People here might have had an opinion one way or the other, but at the end of the day I'm trying to make a character come to life," Evans said about the response to his casting. "Hopefully, if we do our job right and the movie's good, no one will have a problem with it - I hope."

The 3-D "Thor" footage was full of surprises, including close-up shots of Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Hopkins as Odin and Tom Hiddleson as Loki, as well as a reveal of the Destroyer (an enchanted suit of armor of sorts) and the death of Odin. Natalie Portman as Jane Foster and Kat Dennings as Darcy were also featured in newly unveiled scenes.

"I am not in 'The Avengers,' but I am in the future 'Thor' films if and when they happen," Portman said about her involvement, which explained why she was not in the lineup once the cast was revealed.

Germany's Love Parade Festival Canceled Permanently As Death Toll Rises To 19

Deaths, more than 340 injuries occurred during stampede in underpass.

Nineteen people were killed and more than 340 injured at the annual Love Parade music festival in the German city of Duisburg on Saturday, the result of a stampede that occurred beneath an overpass at the entrance of the festival grounds. According to The New York Times, police had closed off the festival grounds on Saturday evening, citing overcrowding (there were some 1.4 million people inside the Love Parade at the time), but failed to close off the entrance to a 200-meter long tunnel that led to the site of the concert.

More and more concertgoers streamed into the tunnel, only to find that the entrance — reportedly the only entrance to the fest — was shut. It was only then that police succeeded in blocking the entrance to the tunnel, effectively sealing hundreds of people inside. Panic ensued, as those trapped in the tunnel tried desperately to turn around and leave. The chaos was compounded by revelers inside the festival, who, after being told by loudspeakers to exit the grounds, piled back into the tunnel.

Video footage shot by Love Parade attendees showed people scrambling to make their way out of the tunnel, climbing ladders or being pulled up to nearby ramps. In the chaos, many people were crushed. The Deputy Police Chief of Duisburg told the BBC that "14 people died on the metal steps leading away from the tunnel [and] two on a wall outside the tunnel."

In the aftermath of the stampede, rescue workers struggled amid the crowds to evacuate the wounded, and helicopters reportedly had difficulty carrying away the severely injured because there was not enough space for them to land. German media also reported that cell phone service in the system of Duisburg temporarily failed, and frantic parents drove to the scene of the festival looking for their children.

In the hours following the incident, critics blamed Love Parade organizers for being unprepared to handle such a mass of concertgoers, and said that the site of this year's fest — an old railway yard — was too small and unsafe. The prosecutor of Duisburg has called for an official investigation on the matter, and, at a press conference on Sunday, police said they were working with organizers and attempting to gather evidence in order to reconstruct the events that led to the stampede, but that "it will be labor and time intensive."

Meanwhile, on Sunday morning, concertgoers had laid flowers and candles at the entrance of the gate, which was now blocked off by police barricades. And Love Parade organizer Rainer Schaller announced that, in light of the tragedy, he would be canceling the festival — which had been held off and on since 1989 — permanently, telling reporters, "The Love Parade has always been a joyful and peaceful party, but in future would always be overshadowed by yesterday's events ... out of respect for the victims, their families and friends, we are going to discontinue the event in the future, and that means the end of the Love Parade."

'Avengers' Director Is 'The Guy For The Job,' Chris Evans Says

'It seems like he knows the world incredibly well,' the actor tells MTV News of Joss Whedon during Comic-Con.

SAN DIEGO — Chris Evans was already at San Diego Comic-Con to promote his highly anticipated Marvel film "Captain America," but the actor made a big splash when he appeared onstage at the studio's Saturday panel, along with the full cast lineup of "The Avengers."

Evans took the stage alongside director Joss Whedon and fellow castmembers Robert Downey Jr., Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johannson, Clark Gregg, Chris Hemsworth and newcomers Mark Ruffalo and Jeremy Renner. And earlier Saturday, during the MTV News live stream, Evans talked about how excited he was to work with Whedon on the 2012 culmination of the stand-alone Marvel superhero films.

"It seems like he knows the world incredibly well. It seems like this world respects him back. It seems like he's the guy for the job," Evans said of the director. "He did a pass on the 'Captain America' script, and it was just phenomenal. All the little tweaks he made, he really knows storytelling; he really knows dialogue and script writing, and that's always a comforting thing."

There are still two films to be released — "Thor" and "Captain America" — before "The Avengers" hits theaters, and Evans said his attention is focused on his own film for now. He said he's already met Downey Jr. and Whedon to talk about the film, but there is still much work to be done on "Avengers," including the all-important script.

The potential success of bringing together these Marvel characters in one giant film could influence how comic book films are made going forward, a sentiment that was discussed during the Warner Bros. panel for "Green Lantern," which raised the possibility of a possible DC universe equivalent. Bringing together all of the various Marvel characters — Iron Man, the Hulk, Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, Nick Fury and Hawkeye — in one film will be a challenge for Whedon, one Evans said he's eager to see the helmer take on.

"We'll see how they're going to write it," Evans said. "I'm not quite sure what Joss has in mind, but I'm sure they'll find a way to make everyone kind of blend and have a role to play. I don't think anyone's going to be carrying the load."

'Jersey Shore' Trio Recall Pranks, Hair Routines On 'When I Was 17'

'My hair was always spiked and gelled up, like a gentleman's blowout,' Pauly D says.

It's no secret that the guys and gals on "Jersey Shore" take their grooming quite seriously. And it seems it's a habit that stems from their days back in high school.

That fact is especially true for Pauly D, who partook in something he calls the "gentleman's blowout."

"My hair was always spiked and gelled up, like a gentleman's blowout, where it was more controlled," he said on the latest episode of "When I Was 17," which aired Saturday at 11 a.m. "Always had to be fresh."

In fact, Pauly was "fresh to death," and his wardrobe choices were made with equal care. "My closet was color-coordinated, my bed was made every single day, my pants had to have creases in them," he recalled. "I took a lot of time to get ready before school. The night before, I'd lay out my outfit that I was going to wear. Had to wake up early to take a shower, do my hair."

While Pauly was busy looking fly at school, JWoww was trying to figure out the fastest way to get out of there.

"Me, at 17, was not the most popular," she admitted. "It was weird in my high school. I didn't really fit in any clique. I kind of bounced around. I really didn't fit in. I wasn't comfortable there. I was just like, 'I got to leave early. I got to do what I can to start my life.' I only had two classes left in my senior year, so I doubled up in 11th grade and left school a year early. High school just wasn't for me. I just couldn't wait to get out."

The Situation, who had fans laughing at his family portraits, was more of a class clown.

"Back when I was 17, I decided to pull a senior prank," he said. "I was going to do it bigger than the seniors the year before, the year before that and even before their grandpappy."

The prank, which involved letting mice loose in the school cafeteria at lunchtime, went over just as he planned. "People were screaming," he laughed. "There was mices everywhere. It was insane. Mayhem!"

Don't miss "When I Was 17," airing Saturdays at 11 a.m. on MTV!

'The Avengers' Cast Is 'Exact Crew' I Wanted, Joss Whedon Says At Comic-Con

SAN DIEGO -- The biggest story to come out of this year's San Diego Comic-Con was undeniably Marvel's announcement of "The Avengers" cast lineup. Fans were already overcome by news that fanboy favorite Joss Whedon would helm the film, but on Saturday, the Marvel Studios panel sent Con-goers into a frenzy, as the entire principal cast -- Samuel L. Jackson, Clark Gregg, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo and Jeremy Renner -- waltzed out onstage to uproarious applause.

When MTV News caught up with Whedon, the man of the Con, at the Entertainment Weekly/ SyFy event Saturday night, the director said he was still amazed at the crew he'd assembled, and equally surprised that they all showed up to be part of the big reveal in San Diego.

Asked how he pulled it off, Whedon modestly took all of the credit.

"I did so much work, certainly nobody at Marvel had anything to do with it," he joked.

Whedon admitted that he advised Marvel not to make the announcement if they couldn't coordinate everyone. "I even said, 'Don't do it if we can't make the deal with these actors.' I desperately wanted this exact crew for the movie and we didn't know until [Saturday] morning that it was going to happen, and that's because of the extraordinarily hard work and trust from people who aren't me."

Whedon added that being surrounded by his new cast was a little bit overwhelming, especially since that Marvel panel marked the first time all of the castmates had been assembled in one room.

"The energy is extraordinary," Whedon said of his actors. "This is an extremely collaborative, supportive intelligent cast; they're very sweet. They're not challenging each other, they're there just enjoying each other and ready to get into it. And that's an exciting atmosphere."
