'The Hills' Cast Addresses Mysterious Finale Scene

'What's real and what's fake, you don't know,' Brody Jenner says of ending in which series seemed to break fourth wall.

"The Hills" came to an end with much fanfare on Tuesday night (July 13). But while the big buzz centered on Lauren Conrad's return during the show's live aftershow, most fans were scratching their heads about the series' final scene.

In the last scene, Kristin Cavallari gets into a waiting car destined for the airport, where she told her "Hills" pals she'd board a flight to some unnamed country in Europe. We watched as Kristin closes the car door, leaving Brody Jenner behind, waving goodbye ... or so we thought.

But instead of pulling away, the camera pans out to show the entire production, including crewmembers and cameramen. So, were the "Hills" producers commenting on the veracity of the events devoted fans watched unfold over six seasons?

"The thing is, as you saw on the end — what's real and what's fake, you don't know," Jenner explained during the live aftershow broadcast. "Our relationship, the entire time could have been fake," he said. "That's one of the questions: what was real and what was fake, and we left it [open]."

As for his partner in crime, Kristin, she said she enjoyed the way the show concluded.

"I mean, I think we both couldn't have been happier with the ending. We were speechless," Cavallari said.

Their 'Hills" co-star Lo Bosworth seemed equally impressed with the final outcome and how it featured the onetime couple. "You know when the last scenes of the show were happening, I got a little [lump] in my throat," she said. "They were great. I loved it."

The entire "Hills" crew, except Heidi and Spencer, was on hand to reminisce about their time on the show. And while the event was generally lighthearted, during a montage of Heidi's life pre-Spencer, her sister, Holly, was visibly upset and crying.

Holly told viewers she wasn't sure about the status of Speidi, but said she hoped to one day be reunited with her sister, even praising her ("She's the best person").

The series aftershow also allowed Spencer's sister, Stephanie Pratt, to settle some rumors, including one that has her appearing next on MTV's "The City," which wrapped its second season on Tuesday night.

"No! I twittered two weeks ago [that] I bought an open-ended ticket to New York," Pratt explained. "That's how it happened," she said of the gossip.

What did you think of the "Hills" series finale? Were you choked up? Surprised by the final scene? Tell us what you thought in the comments!

Waka Flocka Flame Got Crunk And Earned A 'Hottest Breakthrough MCs Of 2010' Nod

"Hottest Breakthrough MCs of 2010" Candidate: Waka Flocka Flame
It only took Waka Flocka Flame about 10 minutes to compose the song that changed his life and, consequently, catapulted him into the league of up-and-comers vying to be our "Hottest Breakthrough MC of 2010." The success of Flocka's debut monster single, "O Let's Do It," has been well documented, leaving the streets smoldering since it first dropped several months ago.

Flame — with his iced-out Fozzy Bear chain — resonated with the youth for his wild-man style: shaking his dreads and getting the stage crunk whenever he's on the mic. But Flocka was also at the center of controversy in February when he said he didn't put too much emphasis on lyrics. Recovering from a gunshot wound to the arm he'd suffered a month earlier, Waka called in to DJ Whoo Kid's radio show — and ignited a firestorm.

He wouldn't, however, be counted out of the game. The ATL-by-way-of-Queens, New York, rapper buried any thought he would be a one-hit wonder. He came back a few weeks later, this time bringing a banger that reverberated even more than the last one: the Lex Luger-produced (no relation to the former WCW wrestler) "Hard in Da Paint."

Flocka lives up to his lyric "Waka Flocka Flame, one 'hood-ass n---a," with unfettered bars like "Gotta main bitch, got a mistress/ A couple of girlfriends, I'm so 'hood rich ... / When my little brother died, I said, 'F--- school'/ I picked the burner up, and I grabbed some marijuana/ Two years later, screaming, 'Now I'm here, your honor!' "

"Whatever the fans grab," Waka said about how he decides which records will be singles. His first two records originated from mixtapes and they proved to be what the streets gravitated to.

"Whatever they grab, I'm running with it. They grabbed 'O Let's Do It,' so I feel like they can grab the next one. I don't go to the studio like, 'Oh, this is a hit. This is a hit!' Nobody in this world know what a hit is. When I dropped 'O Let's Do It,' nobody knew it was a hit. The only person that knew it was a hit was my mama. All the music I ever did, she was like, 'I like that one.' I was like, 'That commercial song? Heck no. I hate that song.' "

Flocka's mom, of course, is Deb Antney, head of Mizay Entertainment and former manager to Nicki Minaj and Gucci Mane. Despite his mother's broken business ties with Gucci, Waka said he remains close to Gucc and down with the 1017 Brick Squad. (Gucci appears on the remix of "Hard in Da Paint.")

"Folks be like, 'You aggressive,' " Flocka said, addressing his lyrical content. "But I can't help it. If I grew up in Beverly Hills, I'll be rapping about palm trees. I think as my environment change, my wordplay will change. I'mma be better."

Waka has no concrete plans for when he'll put out his debut; he's content to drop mixtapes and feed his core fanbase.

"I don't know what 'album' music is bro," Flocka said. "I don't know why people do that: They try to distinguish their album from their mixtape when people fell in love with your mixtape. That's like me trying to go get somebody stupid huge [for a guest feature]. They be like, 'Bruh, you don't do that on your mixtape.' I ain't finnin' to leave my fanbase. I'm not trying to get another fanbase. I'm not finnin' to leave my genre. I want to grow, but it's not gonna be too different.

"I really go hard on the mixtapes," he continued. "I go hard on mixtapes. I feel folks deserve free music. I don't go, 'Hey, buy this.' When they feel like, 'Waka stop mixtape, we wanna hear the album,' I'm dropping it."

Waka Flocka Flame and 19 other up-and-coming MCs are in the running to become MTV News' "Hottest Breakthrough MCs of 2010" — and the winner will be decided by you!

Cast your vote for the "Hottest Breakthrough MC of 2010" right here. The top five will be revealed beginning on July 19, and the winner will be announced on the "Sucker Free Summit" July 25.

M.I.A. Breaks Down Her Favorite Tracks On <i>MAYA</i>

Singer singles out 'Steppin' Up,' 'Teqkilla,' and praises 'experimental' producers Blaqstarr, Rusko.

There's a whole lot of, well, everything on M.I.A.'s just-released /\/\/\Y/\ album. So you'd think its creator — or co-creator, since the album was created in collaboration with a cadre of producers that included Blaqstarr, Rusko, Diplo and Switch — would have a difficult time picking out just one moment as her favorite. And you'd be correct.

M.I.A. actually has three of them: the discordant drill-pop of "Steppin' Up," the stony-drony "Space" and the whacked-out wildness of "Teqkilla."

"I think 'Steppin' Up' is, to me, like the one," she told MTV News. "If it was up to me, I wouldn't have even had any extra music on it, I would've just had the drills all the way through, but it seemed a bit too experimental at the time. But I'm always pushing [Rusko] to do weird stuff. It's interesting, I went in to master my record and everyone kept saying, 'Do you know there's glitches in this song and that song?' and I was like, 'Yeah, and I want to leave it there.'

"Like, on 'Space,' the bit where it breaks down and stuff, that's just done on an iPhone app, and we recorded it back into the computer and it's made up of all the glitches and stuff," M.I.A. continued. "It's not controlled, and because we recorded it at the same time as me singing, it just is as it is. [And that's why] 'Teqkilla' is the most exciting for me as well."

And when you've got an album as dissonant and disparate as /\/\/\Y/\, there's bound to be a few lunatics responsible. And sure, M.I.A. is one of them, but she also credits a lot of the new album's sonics to the up-and-coming team of Blaqstarr and Rusko ... whom she said were a nice change of pace from Diplo and Switch, the now-established producers she's worked with in the past (perhaps that's why Diplo has been so vocal about his displeasure with the album).

The whole thing was conceived as a rather madcap art project, and luckily, M.I.A. found two of the maddest men to help her make it.

"Blaqstarr sort of helped me kick-start the album. He was living in my house at the time, working on his album [and] it seemed more human, and so I think when I first came down to sketch some ideas down and stuff, he just made me more comfortable singing," she explained.

"And I think Rusko represents the polar opposite ... I just really needed that from my producers, who were just into the music and wanted to experiment and explore new ideas and didn't come to the table with preconceived ideas. It's different going in with producers I've always worked with — like Switch and Diplo and stuff — because they've now become mainstream producers and they're really opinionated with where they're at with music, you know? And it was good to have someone ... who wasn't opinionated yet and could appreciate music however it came out."

What are your favorite tracks from M.I.A.'s new album? Let us know in the comments!

Celebrity Favorites: Terrell Owens, Chad Ochocinco and Jadakiss

Harlem's Rucker Park is a necessary destination for hip-hop and basketball royalty. Top NBA stars — from Kobe Bryant to Allen Iverson — have all come uptown to 155th Street to hoop it up over the years at the Entertainers Basketball Classic, while top-tier performers such as Jay-Z, Fat Joe and the Ruff Ryders have all had basketball teams rep them.

A couple of days ago, it was the NFL's chance to show love. Friends, VH1 reality stars and Pro Bowl athletes Terrell Owens and Chad Ochocinco came out.

"The first time, I didn't really know what to expect," said T.O., who was suiting up to play. "It's been some years. I had always heard about Rucker Park and all the And 1 guys that have come through here. A lot of legends have been out here and played on this court, from Kobe, J.R. Smith, all those guys. I'm no different. I'm just out here trying to fit in. I play all the time. I been working out and training out in L.A. A number of NBA guys train out there."

Ochocinco coached the team opposing T.O. The man formerly known as Chad Johnson said he couldn't play because training camp is next week.

"This is how I grew up, in the 'hood." the Cincinnati Bengals star said. "It's always a good chance to give back. This is the first time I've had to be graced with the presence of the famous Rucker Park. It's a pleasure for me to be here. A lot of great ones came through here. I don't play no basketball, but it's a pleasure to be here."

Jadakiss played for Ochocinco's team.

"I might suit up," Jada said with a smile. "It's good for the people. They wanna see your boy. I might go out there and run a little bit. Plus, I got my tournament next week up in Yonkers. I usually don't bring the bigwigs to the playoff time. I'm pretty sure to have Brandon Jennings, Tyreke Evans. Hopefully John Wall, [DeMarcus] Cousins. All of the phenoms. It's good for the kids, just to bring them out. It's good for the community."

Ochocinco lists Jada as one of his favorite MCs right now.

"Right now I'm on that Albert Anastasia, I'm on my dawg Ricky Ross real hard right now," Ocho said. "I tweeted Jadakiss a couple of days go, showing him the love for everything he got going on. I listen to everybody, especially what's coming out of New York. I really listen to what everybody has to say. I like lyrical content. I support everybody. I don't care who you are. If you come out, I'mma get you."

T.O., who also DJs in his spare time, has a listening taste that varies as well.

"I'm flexible. Everybody's hot right now," Owens said. "Got my man Jada, Young Jeezy, Drake, Weezy. I mean, dude, it's so much music out. Keri Hilson. Everybody's got some hot stuff out right now."

'Inception' Star Leonardo DiCaprio Reflects On His Year Of Trippy Movies

Posted: 14 Jul 2010 03:50 AM PDT

He says his new film and 'Shutter Island' had 'some similarities in tone, but they couldn't have been executed any different.'

2010 is apparently the year Leonardo DiCaprio screws with your head. First he gave us the nightmarish dreamscape of Martin Scorsese's "Shutter Island," a film about the tenuous nature between delusion and reality. Now comes "Inception," the Christopher Nolan-directed thriller in which DiCaprio plays a dream thief who's constantly spinning a metallic top because it's the only way he can tell if he's in the real world rather than a make-believe one.

"I've been having a lot of fun playing protagonists that you can't trust," he told MTV News. "That's been the objective in both these films, is to say lines and not necessarily mean what I say. It's been a lot of fun, and I've got to do it with some pretty talented filmmakers, certainly with Scorsese and now with Chris Nolan."

Yet for all their thematic similarities, these are two vastly different films. Starring DiCaprio as a detective investigating a disappearance at an insane asylum, "Shutter Island" unfolds like a psychedelic onion, one layer after another peeling away to reveal new understandings of the story — right up until a climax that forces you to recalibrate everything you've accepted since the opening scene. "Inception," conversely, lays out all its storytelling cards from the start, and it's up to you to sort through them in an attempt to deduce just what in the heck is truly going on.

Is that vague? Good. It's best to know as little as possible before buying your "Inception" ticket when the film opens Friday. Suffice to say, though, the two films remain connected at least on the surface.

"They had some similarities in tone, but they couldn't have been executed any different," DiCaprio told us. "This film is just beyond anything I've ever seen or experienced in my life.

"It's a very rare occurrence where you can do a movie that exists on four different planes simultaneously," he added. "That was the immediate intrigue: delving into the world of the subconscious with Chris Nolan. What could be more fun?"

Check out everything we've got on "Inception."

The Greatest 'Rock N' Jock Softball' All-Stars Of All Time

Posted: 14 Jul 2010 03:50 AM PDT

It's hard to imagine MC Hammer and Kevin Costner in any other list, in Bigger Than the Sound.
By James Montgomery

Today is, I believe, the saddest day of the year. Because, as is tradition following the Major League Baseball All-Star Game, there are absolutely no sports on TV, which is a total bummer (OK, there are some WNBA games). So naturally, I am left scrambling to fill the void.

I've already called my parents and told them I loved them, rescued a pair of dogs from an all-kill shelter, and donated money to several worthwhile charities, but none of that has brought me the kind of perverse gratification that staring at the lineups of my struggling fantasy baseball teams does (curse you Jacoby Ellsbury!). Perhaps I am obsessed with sports. Perhaps, they are ruining my life. And perhaps going without them — even for one day — is a good thing.

But probably not. So rather than continue bettering my life (and the lives of those around me), I've decided to use the remainder of these miserable 24 hours to do something really important: Assemble a list of the greatest "Rock N' Jock Softball" athletes of all time.

See, as a gawky teenager, I was obsessed with "Rock N' Jock." I actually used to set my VCR to record it when it premiered each year (though, of course, if I missed that airing, I could always catch the next 567). It was appointment TV! Sure, the brand eventually expanded to include both basketball and football, but for me, "RN'J Softball" was always where it was at. Call me a purist, but there was nothing like watching Roger McDowell (in khaki shorts) give up an inside-the-park home run to Darryl Strawberry, or seeing various castmembers of "Melrose Place" try w-a-a-a-y too hard to stretch a single into a double, or witness Keanu Reeves getting picked off of first by Tone Loc (yes, this actually happened).

In short, "Rock N' Jock Softball" was magic — to me, it may be the most magical thing MTV has ever done (it's also the reason a photo of Dan Cortese, Jon Stewart and George Clooney together exists). And yet, aside from a few YouTube clips, its very existence seems to have been forgotten. The achievements of greats like Cortese, Van Earl Wright and Brady Anderson (who just might have been the sideburned embodiment of all things "Rock N' Jock") have been lost to the sands of time. And I think it's time to change that.

So, with that noble ideal in mind (and since I'm going through serious sports withdrawal), I decided to honor some of the best "RN'J" athletes of all time. With apologies to the likes of David Faustino, Jonathan Silverman and Bobby Bonilla, here's my inaugural class of "Rock N' Jock Softball" All-Stars.

MC Hammer A no-brainer. Hammer was, of course, a bat boy for the Oakland A's as a teen (a position he would hold for eight seasons, according to Wikipedia), played ball in high school and actually earned a try-out with the San Francisco Giants. He carried his talents over to "Rock N' Jock," where he starred in — as best as I can calculate — at least at least three games. A stirring possessor of both blinding speed and astonishing skill, he stole 16 bases drove in 22 runs in the 1993 contest, a record that stands to this day. OK, I just made that part up, but still, Hammer was the man.

Dan Cortese The face of not only "Rock N' Jock," but of the late, great MTV Sports, Cortese was a fixture at all "RN'J" contests, both as a player and a manager. During his final game — the 1997 Softball Challenge — he homered over the Pepsi can in his last at-bat (check the 4:45 mark of this clip, a moment that will live on in "Rock N' Jock" lore forever).

Sammy Hagar and Sam Kinison: Not only do both of these guys represent everything that was great about the heady heyday of early '90s "Rock N' Jock," but their chess match in the first "Rock N' Jock" game — as managers of the Salamanders and Aardvarks, respectively — was one for the ages. And not just because, as you can see at the 1:48 mark of this clip, Hagar sized up his side's chances thusly, referring to the color of their jerseys: "My team is the winning team ... we are white, and white is right."

Mike Piazza Sure, he was a 12-time All-Star in real life, but there are few — if any — athletes who excelled at "Rock N' Jock" quite like Big Mike. He played in many games and is actually the all-time "Rock N' Jock" RBI leader, as verified by the immortal Chris Connelly at the 9:30 mark of this clip, which makes him a first-ballot selection.

Jack McDowell I seem to remember him being inducted into the "RN'J" Hall of Fame — they made him a plaque and everything — but now he's an All-Star too. McDowell was all too willing to play along with the producers of the game, dressing up as a centurion one year, a cowboy the next. As a pitcher, he served up more than his fair share of homers, but he always did it gleefully, which is what counts here.

Kevin Costner I spoke to various people here at MTV about this column. One of them was actually working here back when the channel did "Rock N' Jock," and he told me that of all the celebs who graced the field over the years, none of them took the game as seriously — or tried as embarrassingly hard — as Costner did. Watching him sprint around the bases, hair flowing, arms pumping (at the 1:11 mark of this glorious clip) to score on Strawberry's inside-the-park homer is proof of this.

Lauren Conrad Makes Her 'Hills' Return On Finale Aftershow

'I'm just really proud,' LC says of her five seasons on the show.
By Jocelyn Vena

Immediately after "The Hills" ended its six-season run on Tuesday (July 13), the show's original star, Lauren Conrad, stopped by its aftershow to reminisce about her time in the spotlight.

"I'm just really proud I was able to be a part of it," she said. "It was a fun show to do. ... There's never, like, a moment I really regret. When you choose to share your life with an audience, you share it all."

And that includes the bad times, like one dark day during her stint at Teen Vogue. "I think that my worst day was — and I feel bad saying it, because she's here now — the day I met Kelly Cutrone and she made me cry [when I needed tickets for a fashion show]," she said. But all is well now between the two: "I love Kelly," she added.

Not only did working at Teen Vogue give LC the chance to meet Cutrone, it also gave her one very famous label: the girl who didn't choose Paris and instead chose Jason Wahler. What would she do if faced with that decision now? "Always choose Paris! Always!" she laughed.

She added that she learned "a lot" about herself while with Jason. "You go through lots of different relationships, [and I realized I should] be a more independent person. Don't lose yourself in a relationship. Always choose Paris."

It wouldn't have been a "Hills" aftershow if the topic of Heidi Montag didn't come up, and LC remained loyal to her onetime bestie, although she was a bit wistful. "I think there's only so much you can do and you have to let go," she explained. "You have to give your friends your blessing and let them live their lives."

Kristin Cavallari Relives Her 'Hills' Debut On Finale Red Carpet

'All the producers were like, 'You need to own this,' ' she tells MTV News.

Kristin Cavallari might have looked calm in her blue dress as she confidently marched into the church where Heidi and Spencer were exchanging vows during season five of "The Hills." But in reality, the former "Laguna Beach" star told MTV News at the "Hills" finale red carpet that she wasn't quite as secure as she seemed when she made her big debut.

"I was so nervous," Cavallari admitted. In fact, it was the "Hills" crew that gave her the confidence she needed to make her grand entrance at the wedding so memorable. "All the producers were like, 'You need to own this. Walk out there like, "Move over!" ' "

When Cavallari joined the cast after Lauren Conrad's departure, she certainly had some big stilettos to fill (figuratively speaking). Her biggest concern was how the rest of the ladies would react to the news.

"[I thought] 'Oh my God, no one knows I'm here,' " she recalled. "I didn't know how everyone was going to react. Everyone could've been like, 'Why are you here?' which I think it seemed like on the show."

But in reality, after the bombshell dropped, Kristin said the rest of the ladies were very kind to her. "Everyone was actually very sweet and did welcome me with open arms."

In fact, the tables were turned when one star said she was actually intimidated by Kristin. "Stephanie's first comment was, 'Wait, wait, wait — you're going to be on the show now?' She was like, 'Oh, I'm scared!' "

What were your thoughts when Kristin first appeared on "The Hills"? Let us know in the comments!

After collaborating onscreen, Hollywood stars Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem have made their offscreen collaboration binding. Cruz's rep confirmed to E! News that the Oscar-winning actors tied the knot in the Bahamas earlier this month. The pair got hitched in front of family members in a small ceremony at a friend's place, with the bride exchanging vows in a John Galliano gown.

According to People magazine, the Spanish stars first met in 1992 during the filming of "Jamón, Jamón." More than a dozen years later, the two teamed up onscreen again for Woody Allen's sensual romp "Vicky Cristina Barcelona." Cruz scored a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role in the 2008 film, playing Bardem's needy, disturbed ex-wife. (Bardem snagged the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor the previous year for his work as a creepy murderer in "No Country for Old Men.")

While Cruz had previously been romantically linked to Hollywood heavyweights (and tabloid favorites) Tom Cruise and Matthew McConaughey, her relationship with Bardem has played out relatively low-key.

Up next, Cruz will appear in "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides," playing Johnny Depp's love interest in the seafaring franchise. Bardem will soon be bringing some big-screen heat of his own when he stars in this summer's Julia Roberts vehicle, "Eat, Pray, Love."

Brody Jenner's 'Personal-Life Lips Are Sealed' At 'Hills' Finale

Brody Jenner has been anything but low-key in his role on "The Hills." He's made his mark on the show as the playboy of the group and has been less than private about his relationships. But Tuesday night (July 13) on "The Hills" finale red carpet, Brody was singing a different tune.

From his notorious hookups with on-again, off-again girlfriend Kristin Cavallari to his tumultuous relationship with Playboy Playmate Jayde Nicole, Brody has made waves with all the women on the show. He's flirted with Audrina Patridge and even brought a new girl onto the scene when he briefly dated McKaela. But on Tuesday, Brody was tight-lipped when approached about his love life. Rumors have been swirling for months that Brody has been cozying up with singer Avril Lavigne, but he wouldn't dish the dirt.

"No, [my relationship] doesn't get addressed on the show," he told MTV News. "I think that right now, at this moment, this is the last and final episode, so my personal life is under wraps from now. I don't have a show to put it all on, so I'm going to keep that part of my life completely separate, and I'm going to keep my personal-life lips sealed."

Brody has been quite candid about his former friend, Spencer Pratt. The two were close friends, but as Spencer began to get stranger, Brody became more and more distant. He, just like the rest of us, was wondering what tricks Spencer might have up his sleeve on Tuesday's red carpet. Brody was just as much in the dark as the rest of us, proving only further just how far apart Spencer has grown from the group. Though he didn't name names, Brody mentioned Spencer when discussing the show's effect on his relationships.

"I lost a few relationships out of [the show], which obviously turned out to be a good thing, but really I'm a very personal person, and a lot of times you get these cameras, and they come into your life and it's crazy and you feel like you're obligated and you have to share those certain things, so now that it's over [makes cutoff gesture]."

Do you hope Brody and Avril go public with their romance? Let us know in the comments!

'He's always been in the background,' she says of her new boyfriend.
By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Tim Kash

Audrina Patridge has had a very public private life thanks to "The Hills." Over the show's six seasons, viewers saw her go on bad dates and good ones. They could track her ups and downs with Justin Bobby.

And in the final season, they were able to watch her have a relationship with musician Ryan Cabrera.

But when MTV News got a few moments with Patridge on the finale party's red carpet, she revealed that her new guy is actually someone she's known for quite a while.

"I am with somebody else," Patridge said. "I'm with Corey. He's always been in the background. He's always been my one true love."

Fans can't blame Patridge for wanting to keep Corey private. She's had some bad luck with introducing boyfriends to the viewing public. But despite those bad experiences, Patridge is sad to say goodbye to "The Hills."

"It's bittersweet. It still hasn't hit me," she said. "It's gonna be hard. Everybody's gonna have a new path and new beginnings."

And her "Hills" experience will stick with her as she moves on to other projects — and friendships — beyond the show.

"The worst thing is always getting judged," she said. "It makes it easier to meet people, but harder to trust people."

On the carpet, Patridge shared she just wrapped work on "Honey 2" and that she's embarking on other projects, including a long-rumored reality show where fans will get to meet her family.

"It's real insight into my life," she said of the show. "I'm a little scared [to have my family on the show]. It's really hard to let that sink in, but we're really close. I'm really goofy. I ramble a lot. I don't always have blank stares."

'The Hills' Ladies Go Glam For Red-Carpet Finale

While Kristin, Lo and the rest of the girls opt for head-turning mini-dresses, Brody and Frankie go way casual.

During six seasons of "The Hills," the ladies always managed to leave an impression when it came to fashion. It was no different when the stylish castmembers arrived to walk the red carpet at Los Angeles' Roosevelt Hotel, just before the show's series finale was set to air on Tuesday night (July 13).

Although Lauren Conrad, Whitney Port and Heidi Montag were notably absent from the pre-show carpet, the rest of the "Hills" cast showed up in their finest to celebrate "The Hills Live: A Hollywood Ending" aftershow. And while the guys stepped out in casual looks, the girls mostly opted for designer mini-dresses.

Lo Bosworth, one of the first to arrive, bared her shoulders in a short, white Tadashi Shoji dress that she said was straight from the designer's latest runway collection. Her pal Kristin Cavallari had one of the night's standout looks, decked out in a gorgeous form-fitting, flesh-tone dress that was delicately crisscrossed with silver sparkles. Unfortunately, though Kristin's dress was generating lots of talk, the reality-TV star couldn't recall the name of its designer. (Her co-star Frankie Delgado tried in vain to help by searching for a tag.)

Both Lo and Kristin opted for neutral colors on the red carpet, but Audrina Patridge mixed things up a bit, arriving in a bright purple mini with cutouts at the waist and along the shoulder. Like Audrina, Stephanie Pratt also opted for color. And while Stephanie's dress might have been a last-minute find — she told MTV News she'd gone shopping the morning of the finale — it was a really good one. Her strapless Hérve Léger dress, accented in various shades of blue, was another one of our favorites of the night.

The boys took no cues from the "Hills" girls when it came to getting dressed for the big finale, toning down the glam factor entirely. Brody Jenner and best friend Frankie ditched suits in favor of jeans. Brody sported a black-and-white, plaid button-down with dark jeans. And though he paired the look with big sunglasses and a fitted cap, the one accessory we didn't get to see was Brody's latest tattoo. The "Hills" heartthrob recently inked the name of his girlfriend, singer Avril Lavigne, on his arm.

Frankie shared Brody's dress code, wearing a pair of jeans and a simple black T-shirt, letting his footwear grab the spotlight. Frankie's red-soled Jordans nearly trumped the ladies' red-soled Christian Louboutins.

'The Hills' Stars Plan Their Post-Show Careers

Some plan to stay on TV, while others have behind-the-scenes projects in the works.
By Jocelyn Vena

On "The Hills," fans were given glimpses into the work lives of the cast. Lauren Conrad and Whitney Port both worked at Teen Vogue and People's Revolution, where they were joined (for a short time) by Stephanie Pratt. Lo Bosworth works at Smashbox. Audrina Patridge let us all in on what it's like to work at Epic Records. Heidi Montag even tried her hand at event planning when she worked at Bolthouse Entertainment.

But now that the show is ending on Tuesday (July 13), how will we get our fix of our favorite "Hills" stars? Well, we have the lowdown on the next big moves the cast plans to make.

Lo Bosworth, who has hinted at wanting to get into TV hosting, has launched her own lifestyle website, TheLoDown.com, where she'll be on hand to give out advice on everything from fashion to boys. She's also the face of Nivea's Goodbye Cellulite Challenge.

Kristin Cavallari is looking to continue her career in television — but behind the lens. "Going back to 'The Hills,' I've enjoyed seeing the behind-the-scenes and how everything gets put together, the TV magic," she said. "So I want to start producing. I've been pitching some shows and talking to some people about that. So, hopefully, right away, I can get one of those running, and then I want to keep acting. I would like that. I like being in charge and calling the shots."

Audrina Patridge might land her own reality show, and the Bongo model admitted that a break was foremost on her mind. "I plan on taking a vacation," she said. "I really want to go to Europe and just travel and hang out with my friends and family down in Orange County. But other than that, I'm still going to castings and still going to auditions for acting, definitely going to continue pushing for that. I would love to do a [period] piece, like, medieval. I love 'The Tudors' and I love 'Troy' and those types of movies. So that's my dream."

While Spencer Pratt said he wanted to go back to school, he's also been tweeting nonstop about his new website, the aptly titled KingSpencer.com, where he covers, ironically, celebrity news. His estranged wife, Heidi Montag, has also recently launched her own website, where she's shared several designs for a new fashion line she is working on. She has also tweeted about working on several scripts for films, trying to get a role in "Transformers 3" and working on music for a new album.

What do you want to see the cast do next? Tell us in the comments!

Lil Wayne Talks Daily Routine, New Lyrics In Letter To Fans

'Amazing would be too typical and perfect would be unfair,' Weezy says of his new rhymes.

Since Lil Wayne went to jail earlier this year, his fans have been curious about how the star is holding up. Artists who have kept in touch with Weezy — like Tyga, Nicki Minaj and Fat Joe — have given updates about the star's bid, and roughly midway through his sentence, Wayne has written another letter to his fans, opening up about his time in Rikers.

In the letter, posted Tuesday (July 13) on his website, WeezyThanxYou.com, Wayne said he's "counting the days and still smiling" and gives up details about his daily routine. "I wake up around 11AM. Have some coffee. Call my kids, and my wonderful mother. I then shower up. Read fan mail. Have lunch. Back on the phone. Read a book or write some thoughts down. Have dinner. Phone. Pushups. Then I listen to ESPN on the radio. Read the bible, then sleep. That's my day," Weezy wrote. The routine reflects a level of normalcy that experts predicted the star would experience in jail.

The superstar MC also opened up about the new lyrics he's been penning in the pen, writing, "There's no word that I can think of that properly defines them. Amazing would be too typical and perfect would be unfair."

In addition, Weezy said the outpouring of support he's received while in lockup has prompted him to pay closer attention to his words. "I never imagined that I could have such an impact on people's lives. Because of this, I vow to be a bit more careful of what I say," Wayne wrote.

Wayne also revealed that he's keeping up with the pace of music, writing, "I listen to the radio sometimes, emphasis on sometimes, and I hear the new music. I like some." He might not be into all the latest radio hits, but Weezy did show love to his Young Money artists. "I applaud my Young Money family for what they're doing. As I'm not surprised. This is what we're supposed to do. Congrats to Drake and Nicki for all their recent success. Those 2 are going to have me retiring early."

The megastar rapper closed the letter by sending detailed messages to dozens of individual fans. The star wrote to one fan (who's presumably a fan of both Miley Cyrus and Weezy), "Me and Miley? Different, but cool. Enjoy Utah," and to another, "Thanx for supporting me in the U.K.. Say hi to Lexie for me." To those he wasn't able to shout out by name, the artist ended the letter with a simple message: "I thank my fans for appreciating me the way you do."

Are you surprised by Wayne's daily routine in prison? Let us know in the comments.

'The Hills' Series Finale Marked By Life Decisions

Lo, Stephanie, Audrina and Kristin begin their post-show lives.

For six seasons, the stars of "The Hills" have lived the L.A. dream — partying at Les Deux, riding on the back of bad boys' motorcycles and swapping boyfriends like so many borrowed frocks. But during Tuesday night's (July13) series finale, the high-living Hollywood hotties made some serious life decisions.

Lo decided that she would break her cardinal rule of not moving in with a man unless she was engaged to him. "It would mean I was starting the rest of my life," she said as she contemplated moving in with her boyfriend, Scott.

But from the sound of it, Scott won't be waiting too long to commit. "I want this to be a long-term deal," he said. "I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I'd marry you right now."

Though Stephanie's far from the wedding chapel — we think — she did make her romance with motocross racer Josh official. While visiting him at the track, she made her feelings for her floppy-haired paramour plain.

"You're like the manliest guy I've ever dated," she said. "But at the same time, the sweetest too. I like hanging out with you a lot." And with that, the pair decided they didn't want to see other people.

Audrina decided what she really needed was a little distance from the drama of Hollywood, so she moved to a house in Hermosa Beach that had a view of the coastline.

Meanwhile, Kristin packed up and moved to Europe to find out what life is like on the other side of the world. "I don't want to wake up in 10 years still looking for that guy," Kristin lamented to her friend Stacie. "Brody found his girl, so I have to go find what I want."

Though Brody tried several times to change her mind, Kristin was resolute. "I can't believe this is really goodbye," she said. The two hugged in front of the Hollywood sign one final time before Kristin was swept away in a black town car.

What did you think about the ladies' decisions? Let us know in the comments!

Tony Yayo Explains 50 Cent Onstage 'Attack' In Brazil

G-Unit member says incident has been exaggerated -- a fan simply 'got a little carried away.'
By Shaheem Reid

One overzealous fan doesn't stop a show, Tony Yayo says. Earlier this week, footage of 50 Cent and G-Unit performing in Salvador, Brazil, hit the Internet. In the middle of "Ayo Technology," a fan jumps onstage and tries to grab the G-Unit general. 50's security and Lloyd Banks promptly subdue the fan — and the song never stops. On Tuesday (July 13), Yayo gave his take on the situation.

"The show got crazy, man," Yayo, who is still in Brazil with his crew, told MTV News via phone. "For security reasons, when somebody jumps onstage ... when [performers] got on chains for $20,000, $30,000, $40,000, that's a security risk right here. Nobody should be onstage except me, Banks and 50. It was just a fan — he got a little carried away, a little happy. People make it seem like he got beat down real, real bad. He didn't get beat down bad — he just got tackled, taken off the stage and the show [went] on."

Yayo said that whenever the Unit go to foreign territories, fandemonium ensues.

"We been getting crazy love," Tony added about the group's time in Brazil. "That's why I don't want people in Brazil to think we out here beating down our fans. When somebody is on the stage, you want to keep the show going. We never stop the show. When you onstage and you got a crowd of 10,000 Brazilian people, you don't want to stop it because a guy is jumping onstage. Just like Africa or other places you go, people get excited — we're like UFOs to the people. They don't see rappers come to Brazil and come to these other places. Sometimes fans get a little excited — that's what that was about. The guy wasn't beat up bad or nothing."

The incident was hardly the first time a fan has crashed a G-Unit performance. Back in 2008, a fan in Angola jumped onstage and endeavored to make off with 50's Cent chain. Fif and company promptly jumped in the audience and recovered the merchandise. The man was later arrested after being turned in to police by his own parents.

The drama the ladies of the "The Hills" have grappled with for six seasons has captivated millions of fans, including one hip-hop diva in particular: Nicki Minaj. Minaj recently revealed via Twitter that not only does she watch the show — which signs off on Tuesday (July 13) — but she has strong opinions about the goings-on of the cast.

Apparently, the MC has been keeping up with the antics of Audrina's (and Kristin's) on-and-off boy toy, Justin "Bobby" Brescia. When a fan pressed Minaj on Twitter about whether she watches "The Hills," the star tweeted, "Yes! I was SO mad wen Justin bobby cut his hair!"

Her taste in TV isn't the only thing the star has revealed on the social-networking website. Last week, the Young Money MC announced the release date of her hotly anticipated debut album on Twitter. "Yes. It's time. November 23rd," the star tweeted Thursday.

When MTV News caught up with the "Your Love" rapper on the set of the video for her #1 track, Minaj called the material she was working on with producer Swizz Beatz "magical" and was generally amped about the album.

"When people hear the album, they're going to get to know Onika [her birth name is Onika Maraj]. And no one knows Onika," Minaj said. "I really didn't think I would be this excited about the songs that I'm coming up with. I'm really, really proud."

Swizzy was also excited about his work with Minaj. "We have a lot of small conversations that end up [turning] into big musical moments," the producer told MTV News. "When you hear Nicki on my track, you're gonna see that 'Wow, she just went from here to there.' I'm happy to be a part of that."

Are you surprised to hear that Nicki is a "Hills" fan? Let us know in the comments!

Vince Vaughn, the star of bachelor-friendly flicks like Wedding Crashers and Swingers, is starting a family. The actor tied the knot earlier this year with Kyla Weber, and People magazine confirms the newlyweds are expecting their first child together.

"They're having so much fun together and they're so excited to be first-time parents!" a source told the magazine.

Although Vaughn is known for fast-talking his way through bromance-themed flicks, he told People last year that he was ready to settle down.

"It's the first time that I really want to have kids," Vaughn said. "I've been very fortunate in my career, and my life has been about that for so long that you get bored of it. You're ready for your life to be about other people and other things."

A new baby isn't the only development in the actor's life. According to recent reports, Vaughn will star in the Ron Howard-directed "Cheaters," teaming up with fellow funnyman Kevin James for the comedy. But while the actor is entering a happy chapter in his personal life, he'll juggle a moral dilemma onscreen: Playing James' best friend, Vaughn's character can't decide whether to tell his friend that his wife is cheating on him.

Share your congratulations for Vince and his family in the comments below!

'The Hills' Girls Made 'California Cool' Fashionable Everywhere, Experts Say

Posted: 13 Jul 2010 01:54 AM PDT

Magazine editors weigh in on the West Coast style that Lauren Conrad and friends popularized.
By Kara Warner, with additional reporting by Jocelyn Vena

The ladies of "The Hills" have left their mark on pop culture. Not only were they ratings darlings, but these impeccably groomed princesses of SoCal inspired women to tune in and take notes on how to create their own California fairy tale. From their stylish jobs to their frequent shopping trips and club outings, LC, Kristin and their friends have been influencing viewers' fashion for the past six seasons.

"[The show] hyped a certain kind of California cool style that the rest of the world hadn't seen," Nylon digital director Faran Krentcil told MTV News. "One that combined cheap cotton dresses with Chanel bags, and stacked friendship bracelets alongside Tiffany jewelry. These were young women mixing their own favorite things with what fashion magazines (and the East Coast style establishment) told them was cool, and they had the same kind of influence that Nicole Richie's boho-luxe style had."

Seventeen magazine's entertainment director Carissa Rosenberg Tozzi emphasized the impact Lauren Conrad has had on women. "Every girl, no matter what age, anyone from 12-35 was practically emulating her style," Tozzi told MTV News. "It landed her on the covers of magazines. Girls wanted to look like her, be her, dress like her. She was such an influence during the time she was on 'The Hills.' You couldn't deny that she was a huge influence on pop culture. Everybody was talking about her style. She was the girl next door — that perfect combination people always say, girls want to be friends with her, guys want to date her. She just had it all."

"It popularized the mix-and-match movement that makes it OK to throw a Juicy Couture T-shirt underneath a Miu Miu blazer," added Krentcil. "And though girls in New York City were doing this too, Lauren Conrad and her comrades were doing it with tons of color! Before 'The Hills,' it was kind of assumed that you should wear black with pops of color if you wanted to look sexy or cool. They gave more options — in colors that used to be for tropical drinks only, not dresses and shoes. And they made it 'acceptable' to buy a $300 T-shirt."

Fashion designer Richie Rich acknowledged the show's impact on youth culture, but not so much on the fashion industry as a whole. "I think 'The Hills' was a fun impact fashion-wise on the youth of our culture," Rich told MTV News. "I don't really think it made a huge statement fashion-wise, other then rich girls shopping. I think it also proved that celebs just putting their names on products doesn't always mean it's fashion. I think the catfights were the highlight for sure!"

Star magazine fashion and beauty director Tara Kraft said she is confident the ladies will continue to be major style and beauty influencers beyond the show's run, particularly since several of them are now deeply involved in the industry.

"Lauren Conrad not only designed her own line for Kohl's, but was the face of Mark., Avon's sister brand. She repped their beauty line and also collaborated on a line of accessories with the company," Kraft pointed out. "Whitney Port is also a fashion designer. Her line Whitney Eve has become quite popular. Audrina Patridge was just tapped as a new face for the line Bongo; Kristin Cavallari was a model for the fashion line Op."

Tozzi equates the impact of "The Hills" to that of "Sex and the City."

"Their style really set trends," she explained. "The difference between what they did and what 'Sex and the City' did: Nothing that [the 'Hills' girls] wore was so over the top; everything they wore was accessible. You never felt that the choices, the kind of clothes they wore would make you feel weird wearing them. You weren't making some crazy statement; you were just sort of looking good. It was all about looking pretty and put together. "

So who is next in line to inherit the fashion-forward throne from the cast of "The Hills"?

"I don't know, I'm curious to see what is next," Tozzi said. "There always will be a next."

What show will influence your style now that "The Hills" is ending? Talk about it in the comments.

Lauren Conrad is set to make her return to "The Hills" when she joins her former castmates on the live aftershow, airing Tuesday (July 13), following the much-anticipated series finale. Up until her exit, viewers had spent five seasons watching as LC tried to figure out love and life in Los Angeles. Once she left, her onetime "Laguna Beach" co-star Kristin Cavallari stepped in, mixing up the lives of the "Hills" regulars. But Lo Bosworth is excited to see LC reclaim what she believes is her rightful territory.

"I'm really excited. I am of the belief that it is Lauren Conrad's show [and] that she deserves to go out with all the glory, so I'm really excited that she's coming back," Bosworth told MTV News.

But Lo also admitted that season six has felt different without her housemate LC.

"It's been tough, but this past season a lot really has happened, so in terms of story I feel it has been a really good season," Lo added. "It's always different when somebody leaves, but I think we have done the best that we can."

While fans are no doubt amped that Lauren will be back for Tuesday night's "The Hills Live: A Hollywood Ending" aftershow, Bosworth promised some awesome stuff awaits those who watch the finale.

"I have to say that it is going to end so magnificently, so spectacularly, in such a way that everybody who's ever watched the show will want it to end," she teased. "I can't say anymore secrets; I feel I'm about to spill the beans."

So will Bosworth shed a tear or two when the show ends for good?

"You know I'm not a very emotional girl. I tend to keep the tears inside, but Tuesday is really, we're really closing a door on a pretty big chapter in our lives," she said. "Moving forward we're really excited, but our life is never going to be exactly this ever again, so that's sad. It's bittersweet."

What do you think will happen when LC makes her big return? Tell us in the comments!
