President Obama, Starbucks, "House," "Twilight" and "South Park." What do all of these things have in common? As of Friday, they all had fewer Facebook fans than Lady Gaga.

According to the British social-network statistics site FameCount.com, Gaga is on the verge of becoming the first living person to roll up 10 million Facebook fans. As of press time on Friday (July 2), she surpassed the only other living person on the list who had exceeded her tally: President Obama. Gaga's fan count reached 9,940,462 to the leader of the free world's 9,444,942. She also continues to spank Obama in Twitter followers (4,762,938 to 4,422,923) and YouTube subscribers (311,716 to 191,562).

The singer, who never misses a chance to shout out her rabid fanbase of "little monsters," is also miles ahead of other living celebs on the list when it comes to Facebook followers, including Britney Spears (3.1 million), Ashton Kutcher (3.6 million), Taylor Swift (5.8 million), Selena Gomez (5.2 million) and even Justin Bieber (5.9 million). But she still can't hold a candle to the King of Pop. Among musical acts, only the late Michael Jackson's Facebook fans list is more massive than Gaga's.

As of press time, the only other Facebook pages to top Gaga's were for Texas Hold 'Em Poker (20 million), Jackson (14.1 million), the online game "Mafia Wars" (12.7 million), "Family Guy" (10.1 million) and Facebook itself (10.7 million). Other entities that are surprisingly further down on the friends count list than Gaga?: "Twilight" (7.1 million), "South Park" (6.5 million), Coke (6.1 million), Lil Wayne (5.9 million) and, yes, Skittles candy (5.5 million).

Gaga's upsurge this week on Facebook might have something to do with her cover story in the latest issue of Rolling Stone magazine, in which she provides the most intriguing peek yet into her closely guarded private life. In addition to the bombshell interview with former Afghan war General Stanley McChrystal, the Gaga feature has helped to propel the magazine's newsstand sales to twice what it usually does.

Are you a Facebook fan of Gaga's? What do you think of her passing President Obama in total friends? Tell us in the comments!

Gucci Mane sure is happy to be home. The Atlanta rapper was released from prison in May, and he's been working feverishly ever since. Not only is he crafting his upcoming album, The Appeal: Georgia's Most Wanted, but fans can look forward to seeing the Southern MC onscreen soon too.

Gucci recently teamed with Lil Wayne to shoot the video (albeit separately) for their collaboration "We Be Steady Mobbin'," from Young Money's compilation album. In exclusive footage from the set provided to MTV News by DJ Scoob Doo, who directed the clip, Gucci beams while texting Drake about a song the pair recorded together.

"Drake just hit me about the song we did," Gucci tells Scoob as he taps back a message to the Toronto lyricist. "We going in."

The "We Be Steady Mobbin' " video is set to premiere on the Fourth of July on MTV Jams. And behind-the-scenes footage from the making of the clip will be featured on DJ Scoob Doo's latest DVD, "Entourage: Fetti Holmes Edition." In addition to Gucci, Wayne and Drake, the project will also feature appearances by Birdman and Jadakiss.

In another scene from the DVD, Gucci is seen talking to Ciara about the visual he and Weezy completed; the two rappers weren't able to film any scenes together since Wayne began his jail sentence in New York just a week before Gucci was released.

"We shooting my part, but Wayne already shot his part before going to jail," Gucci Mane says to Ciara during a phone call.

Since his release, Gucci Mane has said he's embraced a straight-and-narrow path, vowing not to make the kinds of mistakes that nearly derailed his burgeoning career.

"I feel like I got a whole new beginning, like my career just started again," he said in May.

Maroon 5 Take You Through 'Misery' Video, Frame By Frame

'They probably weren't too happy because they had to dress like us,' Adam Levine says of video's stuntmen.
By James Montgomery

In Maroon 5's "Misery" video, the bandmates are stabbed, shot, smacked around, set ablaze, blown up, tossed off buildings and run over by cars ... among other calamities. Needless to say, there were stuntmen involved.

"I did a lot of stuff, a lot of stuff is me!" frontman Adam Levine insisted. "But most of it wasn't very dangerous. Although, by the end of the day, even not being hit by things is such a physical thing that I was really kind of beat up ... I was like, 'Man, even thinking I got my ass kicked feels like getting my ass kicked.' "

Yes, the video — directed by Joseph Kahn, whose credits include clips for the 50s, Britneys and Ems of the world — certainly packs a wallop, full of sex and violence, nifty special effects, gunplay, knife fights and even a wayward rocket launcher. So of course, ever since it debuted Thursday on MTV.com, we've been watching it nonstop.

Lucky for us, the guys from Maroon 5 just happened to swing by the MTV Newsroom the same day the clip premiered, and they were nice enough to give us the inside scoop on the video — Violent girlfriends! Censorship! Burly stuntmen in tight-fitting jeans! — for a segment we like to call Frame by Frame.

"I'll tell you a little secret ... the stuntmen were so great, but they probably weren't too happy because they had to dress like us [for the video], which was hilarious, because we aren't the most masculine dressers," Levine laughed. "This dude who was [keyboardist] Jesse [Carmichael]'s stunt double was, like, really buff, and he has Jesse's little low-top Converse and skinny jeans on. The shoes were, like, falling off his massive ankles."

Yeah, there was a whole lot of that going on. In fact, the entire Frame by Frame is pretty amazing to watch, because if you think the stuff that made it into the "Misery" video was outrageous, you should've seen what happened behind the scenes. Or better yet, have the M5 gents tell you all about it. Trust us, it's worth it.

What do you think of M5's new video? Let us know in the comments!

Game Talks Beanie Sigel Verse, Insists He Didn't Dis Drake

'Beans, he sounds hungry, like he ain't have his hair braided in six years,' he tells Mixtape Daily of R.E.D. Album track.

The O.D.: A Mixtape Daily Exclusive
For the most part, you will never get an MC to admit that he did a song with another spitter, and that spitter's rhymes were so ferocious he had to go back to the drawing board to pen another verse. But Game doesn't care. His pedigree as a lyricist is well-documented, so when he spoke to about a posse cut on his August 24 LP The R.E.D. Album, he had no problem giving major props to one of his co-stars.

"Me, Rick Ross and Beanie Sigel on a track called 'Heavy Artillery,' " Compton's lyrical barbarian revealed. "I'm definitely a fan of Beans. I did my verse first, sent it to them. Ross came back, and I was still comfortable with my verse. Beans came back — rewrite! [I had to] rewrite [my verse]. Sent [the track] back to Ross. Ross heard Beans: rewrite. Now we got what we need. Now everybody is on the same playing field. Beans, he sounds like he's hungry, like he ain't have his hair braided in six years and he ain't ate in 10."

Last week, Game invited another of his peers — another MC known to be formidable in the booth — to appear on his LP. None other than Drake turns up on a Cool & Dre-produced record called "Good Girl, Bad Girl." Queen Latifah also dropped by the lab to show love. Game also gives the 23-year-old Canadian an abstract elsewhere on the album.

"'While you mutha----as waiting on Toronto/ I'm in the hood with Poncho/ Stackin' Rajon Rondo," Game said, reciting a line from a yet-untitled song off R.E.D.

Game insisted it wasn't a jab at Drake ("Ain't no disses on the album"), but also said it's not his fault if people take it as one.

"You could [interpret any way]. But it's your music. You buy it," he rationalized. "You take what you want from it. I can't be there to sanction and tell everybody, 'You shouldn't take it that way.' You take it how you want to."

Guru's BET Awards Omission Due To A 'Technical Glitch,' Exec Says

Stephen Hill says late Gang Starr MC will be honored during BET Hip-Hop Awards in the fall.
By Mawuse Ziegbe

The 2010 BET Awards had several memorable moments, including a diva-packed tribute to lifetime-achievement honoree Prince, a pregnant Alicia Keys rocking out harder than ever and comebacks from Kanye West, Chris Brown and El DeBarge.

However, viewers have been abuzz since Sunday's live broadcast about a moment that was noticeably absent from the show: a tribute honoring late lyricist Guru. A BET higher-up, however, has insisted that the lack of recognition for the Gang Starr MC, who succumbed to cancer earlier this year, was not an oversight but rather the product of a technical snafu.

"It was nothing more than a technical glitch," said BET Executive Vice President of Entertainment and Music Programming Stephen Hill, who was involved in staging the show, according to AllHipHop.com.

Hill said the show had intended to honor other late stars but ran into issues with the tribute video. "It was the same reason you didn't see anything about Naomi Sims, a black model who passed, and Marvin Isley of the Isley Brothers. So Guru, Naomi Sims and Marvin Isley were all tied to this one [video] package that didn't fire off the way it was supposed to. What was supposed to happen is you see this package and Naomi and Guru and Marvin end up on Gary Coleman. For some reason, we couldn't get it to fire, and it kept Gary Coleman up there [as] a freeze [frame]," said Hill, referring to a moment in the show when an image of the late actor was displayed on a monitor.

"That's why it looks a little awkward when Todd [Bridges] started, because he was supposed to have a bit of a ramp-up," Hill explained, referencing Bridges' speech about his former "Diff'rent Strokes" co-star. "So Todd did his thing, and we continued on with [the] Lena [Horne] and Teddy Pendergrass [dedications]."

Hill assured fans that Guru would be properly honored at the BET Hip-Hop Awards, which typically air in the fall. "You can best believe there will be something significant for Guru during the Hip-Hop Awards. We realized there was nothing we could do [during the BET Awards]," Hill lamented. "We had to keep it moving after that technical glitch. Guru, Naomi Sims and Marvin Isley were all victims of that technical glitch, all extremely influential in different ways."

'Harry Potter' Star Tom Felton Says Farewell Scene Is All About 'Presence And Look'

'I had a monologue prepared, but time was short,' actor joked about the 'Potter' epilogue.

While the recent trailers and TV spots for "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1" have proven to be sufficient teasers for Potterheads — showcasing a darker, more serious film and more harrowing action sequences — fans can't seem to get enough news about the series' much-discussed/hyped final scene: the epilogue.

When MTV News caught up with celebrated villain and MTV Movie Award winner Tom Felton, we asked him if in his big final scene, which is set 19 years in the "Potter" future, Draco Malfoy closes the series with any sweeping dialogue.

"I had a monologue prepared, but time was short," he joked. "No, it was all in the presence and the look."

So Draco Malfoy's farewell is all in his menacing presence? "This is the idea, that's what they told me," he said. "Hopefully that reads. It was a lot of fun."

Adding to the epilogue fun is the fact that Felton's real-life girlfriend, "Potter" stunt assistant Jade Olivia, plays his wife in that final shot.

"She was at first reluctant, but I pulled her arm and twisted it," Felton told MTV at last month's Movie Awards of convincing Olivia to step in and play Astoria Malfoy. "She was filming with me for three days at King's Cross [railway station in the U.K.]. We were very excited.

"It gave me a chance to see what she's going to look like in 19 years," Felton added. "And if that's what she looks like, I'm doing pretty well for myself," he laughed. "But I look terrible," he said of his own aged visage. "The years have not been kind to me in the slightest. But what can I do? I've gotta just roll with it."

Paris Hilton Detained In South Africa For Marijuana Possession

The socialite's publicist says someone else in her group had the drugs.

Paris Hilton was busted in South Africa at the World Cup for marijuana possession, The Associated Press reports.

Two South African police officers, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed to the AP that the socialite was detained in Port Elizabeth on Friday (July 2). "She was found in possession of some amount of dagga," an officer said. (Dagga is the local term for marijuana.) "We don't know how much. It's a high-profile person; only the top cops are dealing with it."

A police spokeswoman in Port Elizabeth, Marinda Mills, would not publicly confirm whether Hilton was detained. She did concede that a person was appearing in court who was "high profile," however, and referred to the notable detainee with the feminine pronouns "her" and "she," the AP reports.

"This person is appearing in court right now," Mills said. "We cannot reveal information about her until she has appeared in court. I am here with the individual in court. We're waiting for the court to start."

While it appears that the heiress did check out some soccer, she apparently got sidetracked. A Johannesburg radio report said the reality star was detained after the quarterfinal World Cup game between Brazil and Netherlands, outside of Nelson Mandela Bay stadium.

Hilton's publicist released the following statement: "Paris Hilton was questioned today by police in South Africa on allegations of smoking marijuana. However, I can confirm that the incident was a complete misunderstanding and it was actually another person in the group who did it. The case has been dropped against Paris and no charges will be made. The authorities have apologized for wrongfully accusing her since she had nothing to do with the incident. Paris is having an incredible time at the World Cup."

This isn't Hilton's first brush with the law. After violating her probation (which the star was slapped with for driving under the influence in 2006) by repeatedly driving with a suspended license, Hilton famously reported to jail directly after the 2007 MTV Movie Awards.

Dolly Parton Says She's Miley Cyrus' 'Fairy Godmother'

'But I think the girl's doing all right without me,' country-music legend says of the teen star.

Miley Cyrus has a country star watching over her, and it's not just dear ol' dad (and "Hannah Montana" co-star) Billy Ray Cyrus. Country legend Dolly Parton says she's also looking out for the teen queen.

"I'm her fairy godmother," Parton told The Associated Press.

The "Can't Be Tamed" singer and the blond icon joined forces in May for a duet — a rendition of Parton's 1973 hit single "Jolene" — during a celebration of Dollywood, the singer's namesake Shangri-La. Parton showed the teen superstar some love after performing with her for the Hallmark Channel special taped earlier this year, commemorating 25 years of the Tennessee theme park.

Miley has been getting some heat lately for what her critics say is an increasingly sexed-up image, a budding persona at odds with the inoffensive sass of the Disney series that launched the teen to stardom. However, Parton, who has built a decades-long career and entertainment empire blending sweet, down-home wholesomeness with bubbly, busty sex appeal, maintains that Cyrus is headed in the right direction.

"I'm just real proud of her," Parton said. "She does not need my advice, but she's often asking for information and advice, and I tell her what I know, but I think the girl's doing all right without me."

In addition to the Miley/Dolly duet, the special will feature performances from Kenny Rogers and Billy Ray, who has known Parton since he first burst onto the scene in the early '90s with his mega-hit "Achy Breaky Heart." Parton said the tribute show thoroughly represents the successful amusement park.

"There are a lot of wonderful things," she said. "It shows the park really great, and the audience and all the people that work here, so we've really covered it in every respect."

Fantasia Leads You Through 'Bittersweet' Video, Frame By Frame

Fantasia's new single may be called "Bittersweet," but making the music video was anything but bitter. In fact, the R&B songstress has never felt more empowered and in charge, thanks to a newfound post-"Color Purple" confidence that has her calling her own shots.

"It's all my concept," Fantasia told MTV News. "I was scared when I called the record label, because, of course, they had their own concepts. And I was like, 'No, can I do it this way?' And [director Lenny Bass] was totally open to all that stuff."

The just-released "Bittersweet" clip shows Fantasia so hung up on a past lover that she has visions and flashbacks of him everywhere. "I really don't see all of the people [around me], because I'm just focused on and thinking about this guy," she explained.

To match the single's old-school feel, Fantasia updated her personal style to reflect the past. "I'm in love with the Billie Holidays and the Ella Fitzgeralds. I'm in love with that look right now, so I'm trying to do that myself," she said.

But don't worry that Fantasia's gone too old-school. Those plunging necklines remind viewers that she's still in her 20s, a fact she feels was overlooked by her record label during the promotion of her previous two albums. "As I look back on all my other [videos], I felt like [I was styled] so much older. I felt like I wasn't able to let that [young] side out. So [this time], I was big on: 'Hey! Give me some skin!' "

Fantasia also played a big part in choosing her co-star. "We actually sat on the computer for about three days just going through [potential] guys. I wanted somebody tall, you know, a man," she said. And that man with a capital "M" was Devin Thomas, a wide receiver for the Washington Redskins. "Once I saw him, I knew I wanted to have him in the video," she said.

Now about those steamy hookup scenes with Thomas: "I enjoyed myself, let's just put it like that," Fantasia said with a sly smile, before adding, "He's a lot of man! And just sitting there, and yeah, it was nice. I had a great time," she trailed off, grinning. "He was really nice, which made it a lot easier."

Lil Wayne, Gucci Mane Filmed Parts For 'We Be Steady Mobbin' ' Separately

Lil Wayne got his sentencing in New York delayed couple of times this year. But if he'd seen just one more postponement for his one-year prison term, he and Gucci Mane's work on the "We Be Steady Mobbin' " video probably would have been a bit easier. As it was Wayne turned himself in just a week before Gucci was freed from prison. And so the two had to film their parts for the clip, which is scheduled to premiere on MTV Jams this Sunday, separately.

"We shooting my part, but Wayne already shot his part before going to jail," Gucci Mane told Ciara during a phone call in an exclusive clip provided to MTV News by DJ Scoob Doo.

Scoob Doo directed the "We Be Steady Mobbin' " video, and behind-the-scenes footage of the clip will be available on his forthcoming DVD "Entourage: Fetti Holmes Edition." The project serves as a preview to his and Lil Wayne's collaborative DVD effort "The Nino Brown Story Pt. 3."

"I chose the title of 'Entourage' because this is — in my opinion — the heavy hitters of the game," Scoob told MTV News about the preview project, which will include footage of Lil Wayne, Jadakiss and Drake. "It happens that I have personal relationships with them. It made sense not to sit on the footage, not to sit on the exclusive content. A lot of people are waiting for that 'Nino Brown Story' with Lil Wayne. But this is something you can watch to keep you in suspense and satisfy that hunger."

'Spider-Man 4' Timeline: From Tobey Maguire To Andrew Garfield

Posted: 02 Jul 2010 07:30 AM PDT

After numerous delays, 'Spider-Man' reboot finally has a director, star and release date.
By Eric Ditzian

It took nearly six months, but the rebooted "Spider-Man" franchise has finally found in 26-year-old Andrew Garfield a web-weaving boy hero to replace Tobey Maguire. Six months, though, is nothing when seen in the context of the three-year-long failed process to launch a fourth Spidey flick after the third installment of the series debuted in 2007.

Those efforts finally imploded in January when a franchise reboot was announced, and what followed was a furious series of rumors and signings that kept comic-book fans glued to their computer monitors. With Garfield now the official owner of Peter Parker's tights, let's look back and recall just what happened to "Spider-Man 4" in 2010.

January 11: After numerous production delays, word breaks that Sony has scrapped plans to make "Spider-Man 4" after battles with director Sam Raimi over script issues and the film's summer 2012 release date. Sony announces plans to reboot the entire franchise with a new director and a largely new cast, which means that Maguire will be replaced as well.

January 14: The first crop of new-director rumors surfaces: Marc Webb ("500 Days of Summer"), James Cameron ("Avatar"), David Fincher ("Zodiac") and Wes Anderson ("Rushmore").

January 19: Those four names were quickly whittled down to one as Webb signs on to direct the reboot. In a statement, Amy Pascal, co-chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment, and Matt Tolmach, president of Columbia Pictures, say, "At its core, 'Spider-Man' is a small, intimate human story about an everyday teenager that takes place in an epic super-human world. The key for us as we sought a new director was to identify filmmakers who could give sharp focus to Peter Parker's life."

February 4: While many possible replacement candidates for Maguire have been mentioned in the blogosphere, the first bit of concrete news comes when Logan Lerman, star of "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief," announces that he's been talking to Sony about the role.

February 10: The new "Spider-Man" gets a release date — July 3, 2012 — and an unsurprising third dimension: It will be shot in 3-D.

May 17: Alvin Sargent ("Spider-Man 3") signs on to rewrite the "Spider-Man" reboot, reportedly working from the previous draft by Jamie Vanderbilt ("Zodiac").

May 26: The Peter Parker candidates are rumored to be down to five actors: Jamie Bell ("Jumper"), Alden Ehrenreich ("Somewhere"), Frank Dillane ("Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince"), Josh Hutcherson ("Cirque du Freak") and Andrew Garfield ("The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus").

June 1: A grassroots campaign to add "Community" co-star Donald Glover to the list of possible Peter Parkers explodes on Twitter and Facebook.

July 1: Ladies and gentlemen, meet your new Spider-Man: Mr. Andrew Garfield!

Check out everything we've got on "Spider-Man 4."

Adam Sandler, Chris Rock Talk Richard Pryor Biopic

'It's all being worked on,' Sandler tells MTV News, after losing director Bill Condon to 'Breaking Dawn.'
By Eric Ditzian

Richard Pryor died in 2005 at the age of 65, leaving behind a legacy of legendary comedy — and equally legendary debauchery. He was the guy a generation of stand-up comedians modeled themselves after, and he was the guy whose long-standing drug abuse — including a frightening incident in which he lit himself on fire while freebasing cocaine — stood as a warning to rising comics about the dangers of addiction and fame.

Two of the comedians who rose to prominence in the decades after Pryor's trailblazing comedic stylings, Adam Sandler and Chris Rock, are deep in development as the producers of "Richard Pryor: Is It Something I Said?" a biopic about the funnyman. Eddie Murphy circled the Pryor role at one point, and before his death, Pryor himself anointed Mike Epps ("The Hangover") as the guy for the part. But the gig eventually went to Marlon Wayans. Why? Rock had some answers.

"Marlon Wayans, he did a screen test and it was just unbelievable," Rock told MTV News recently. "It's not just doing the comedy of Richard Pryor. He captures the vulnerability of Richard Pryor."

Long attached to helm the project, director Bill Condon should begin shooting "Is It Something I Said?" in the fall. But now that Condon has signed on to direct the two-part "Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn" — also this fall — things seem to be getting complicated. Is Condon still onboard? Will Sandler and Rock get their project off the ground?

"Hopefully, soon," Sandler said. "It's all being worked on. Hopefully soon."

What do you think of Marlon Wayans playing iconic comedian Richard Pryor? Would you have cast another actor? Let us know in the comments!

N.E.R.D. Won't Divulge 'Treats' To Come On <i>Nothing</i>

The guys of N.E.R.D. are keeping in tune with the title of their next album when it comes to revealing details about their next effort.

"We can't give away the treats," Pharrell told MTV News of the trio's forthcoming Nothing, due September 7. "That's like saying 'trick or treat' [when] you already know what you're going to get, so [you] don't knock on the door," P said, adding, "Nah, man, you gotta go get it."

"Go knock," groupmate Shay Haley chimed in, encouraging fans to buy the album this fall.

The trio — Pharrell, Shay and Chad Hugo — are riding high off the success of "Hot-N-Fun," the first single from Nothing, which features Nelly Furtado. And they recently premiered the Jonas Åkerlund-directed video for the song.

"There's a French expression which is called 'baba cool,' which is from the late '60s, early '70s, and it's like the mixture of posh, bohemian and art," P explained of their next project. "That's pretty much the theme of the album."

But 'baba cool' also aptly describes the countercultural feel of the clip itself. "We told them we wanted something that was psychedelic, something that paid homage to the Beatles' Yellow Submarine and the Magical Mystery Tour," he said.

Pharell first teased to MTV News what the tone of the group's new material would be, earlier this year. "The music is very psychedelic for the most part. Eighty percent of it is definitely flower-power, counterculture, release and let yourself be free and have a great time!"

Last year, N.E.R.D. added a fourth member, pop singer Rhea, but she's since ventured off to work on her own material. Next up, the collective plans to release its next single, "Party People."

Are you excited to hear N.E.R.D.'s new album? Is "Hot-N-Fun" the perfect summer track? Let us know in the comments!

Mary J. Blige Brings Backyard BBQ Vibe To 'Good Morning America' Set

The queen of hip-hop soul sang new and old hits to a crowd of all ages Friday morning.

It seemed fitting that ABC's "Good Morning America" had set a picnic table for a Southern comfort food segment they were hosting on Friday morning (July 2), just moments before R&B diva Mary J. Blige took the stage as part of the network's summer concert series. Yes, it was New York City's Central Park, but the vibe on the vast stretch of turf was all Fourth of July backyard family barbecue.

Spontaneous chants of "Mary, Mary, Mary" went up as a quick survey of the "GMA" crowd revealed fans of all ages. Blige finally showed, opening with the relentlessly uptempo "Just Fine." Nine studio albums and as many Grammys later, the singer who defined the drama of heartbreak for a generation proved again how far she's come since the wrenching pain of her My Life days. As if to underscore that point, Mary J. tugged off her ever-present sunglasses midway through the song, smiling knowingly and drawing rousing shouts from the crowd.

The hometown girl (Blige grew up in Yonkers, New York) even made a personal bid on behalf of the New York Knicks, trying to woo NBA free agent LeBron James. Next, she moved the set to her most recent LP, Stronger With Each Tear, tearing into the ballad "I Am," a belly-deep plea to a love, detailing all of the reasons he should stay.

Blige seemed to stretch each vowel, lingering on each word: "I just want you to know/ Baby, I love you so/ There is no need to go looking for more/ 'Cause I've got everything you'll ever need right here!"

It's not just that this R&B soul survivor exudes a hard-won serenity these days, even her instrument has evolved: The raspy edges, once fueled by alcoholic excess, are still there, but the sound is full, strong and, most important, controlled.

Blige finished "I Am" seemingly breathless — with the devoted concertgoers filling in her staccato "oh-oh-oh"s — then launched into "Family Affair," from her acclaimed, multiplatinum No More Drama. Fans weren't shy about dancing, and Mary did her signature move: bending at the waist with her head bopping. The R&B diva, dressed in a black, bell-sleeve romper paired with knee-high, open-toe gladiator boots — beamed and thanked fans repeatedly for their love.

As the clock pushed past the 9 a.m. hour, the cameras stopped rolling, but Blige kept singing. ("That's why we love you, Mary!" one fan shouted.) The queen of hip-hop soul confessed that she was especially happy that morning. Blige, who dropped out of high school in her teens, had recently received an honorary diploma, she revealed. "So if I look a little more confident [that's why]," she added with a laugh.

With that, she delivered a poignant, tearful "No More Drama" over spare piano, clutching her abdomen at one point. There were tears, and not just onstage.

The father and brother of actress Afshan Azad, who plays Padma Patil in the "Harry Potter" franchise, have been accused of threatening to kill the star. Her brother has also been accused of assaulting her at her home in Manchester, England. According to CNN, a spokesman for the Crown Prosecution Service said the actress was allegedly attacked on May 21 because her family disapproved of her relationship with a Hindu man. Azad's family is Muslim.

Azad's father, Abdul Azad, and brother, Ashraf Azad, recently appeared in Manchester Magistrate's Court via video link, according to the Manchester Evening News. The actress was also present at the hearing and the two men have been released on bail. Bail conditions stipulate that neither father nor brother can travel to London and must adhere to a curfew. The paper also reports that the pair will appear again in court later this month and that "it is understood" that Azad's father and brother plan to plead not guilty.

Azad was a student with no acting experience when she was cast as Padma Patil, a classmate of Harry's. Azad reportedly tagged along to an audition with some friends "for a bit of fun." She has since appeared in four movies, and the Manchester Evening News reports that she is expected to appear in "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," which is set to hit theaters next year.

John Wolfson, a lawyer for Azad's brother Ashraf, said, "I hope for the whole family's sake this matter can be resolved quickly and happily."

Amy Winehouse will apparently be back in the studio soon — but this time she won't be alone. According to ?uestlove, the Roots drummer has teamed up with the troubled star to form a supergroup.

The influential hip-hop artist revealed in an interview with AOL's Spinner that the duo is indeed planning to work together. The group is "definitely going to happen," the drummer said. No name for the group has been confirmed, however, ?uesto disclosed that the singer has been in the lab with producer Salaam Remi, who worked on Winehouse's breakout album Back to Black. The drummer gushed that the resulting work is "amazing."

While Winehouse has apparently touched base with Remi, ?uesto said that getting face time in the studio with the star has become an issue because of the embattled soul singer's immigration issues. "It's just that we have to work overtime to get her visa situation together. The closest she can come to the States is Jamaica." Static with immigration has caused the singer to cancel U.S. tour dates in the past. The star also ended up accepting her Grammy Awards via satellite in 2008 due to visa problems.

But even if Winehouse can't make it across the pond, ?uesto said he'll try to speak with the Grammy-winning star in Europe. "I'll be in France for four, five days, so I'll see if she's up for discussing this over dinner." In the meantime, the stars are chopping it up over the Internet. "We've been Skype-ing the sh-- out of each other."

This is not ?uestlove's first time at the supergroup rodeo. He has also been at the center of the Soulquarians, an evolving collective that has included many of the drummer's game-changing peers such as Erykah Badu, Common, Mos Def and D'Angelo.

'The Last Airbender' Stars Talk Bending Powers

Jackson Rathbone would choose to control water, while Dev Patel would turn back time.

M. Night Shyamalan's kid-friendly fantasy, "The Last Airbender," details an epic war between four nations driven by the powerful natural elements water, fire, earth and air. The flick follows the plight of Aang, the sole Avatar with the ability to control all of the elements, as he tries to restore peace between the warring factions. Given the choice to manage any one of those elements, the stars of the film have a variety of reasons for choosing their own "bending" powers.

Shyamalan, who wrote, directed and produced the movie, which is based on the hit animated Nickelodeon TV show, would opt to have the ability to manipulate air. "First of all, I have an advantage 'cause everything has air around it," Shyamalan told MTV News at the New York premiere of the movie on Wednesday. "Right now, if you were Earthbender, you'd be kind of screwed because there's concrete underneath us. But I got you."

Nicola Peltz, who plays a Waterbender in the film, said she would stick to that power in real life as well. "I think water's the most interesting because unfortunately it can harm you like a tsunami but it also heals people," the actress said, adding that she'd like to be a 'bender that's also a do-gooder. "I would like to be a Waterbender because I could stop the tsunami and also give clean water to countries."

Jackson Rathbone was also on the water bandwagon. "I would probably say water just based on the fact that it's one of the most prevalent elements around," Rathbone said. "Bruce Lee talks much about being like water in his book Artist of Life."

Noah Ringer works all the elements as the film's lead, Aang, but he was able to single out one that he'd most like to control. "Air would be pretty cool because you could fly," said Ringer, adding that Airbending has some practical advantages as well. "You wouldn't have to ride on airplanes or anything."

Seychelle Gabriel, who plays Princess Yue in the film, would keep things close to home. "I've been telling everyone earth because I just think there's so many possibilities because there's rocks and trees and dirt and gravel," Gabriel said. "There's so many choices to pick from."

Dev Patel, however, eschewed the whole four-elements thing altogether and offered his own special ability. "If it was a real element it would ... be turning back time. There's so many crazy catastrophes happening in the world today. To be able to do that would just be fantastic," said Patel, who nodded and simply said "BP," as one of the disasters he'd like to fix.

Trent Reznor To Score Facebook Movie

Although he claimed he was putting Nine Inch Nails in the deep-freeze, frontman Trent Reznor is not fading into the distance. The leader of the legendary industrial powerhouse has recorded the soundtrack to the upcoming David Fincher ("Fight Club") movie "The Social Network," which tells the story of how Facebook was created.

"I was planning on taking some time off after the continual waves of touring that ended last fall and spend this year experimenting around with what would become How to Destroy Angels and some new NIN," Reznor wrote on the Nine Inch Nails website, referring to HTDA, the band he started with his wife, Mariqueen Maandig. "Well, that plan didn't work out so well. David Fincher started inquiring about my interest in scoring his upcoming film, 'The Social Network.' Yeah, the movie about the founding of Facebook. I've always loved David's work but quite honestly I wondered what would draw him to tell that story."

Then Reznor, who has had an up-and-down/love-hate relationship with social-networking sites, said he read the script for the movie.

"When I actually read the script and realized what he was up to, I said goodbye to that free time I had planned," he explained. "Atticus Ross and I have been on a creative roll, so I asked him if he wanted to work on this with me and we signed on," Reznor said of composer/producer Ross, a frequent NIN collaborator. "Months later, I'm happy to tell you we're nearing the completion of this and I couldn't be happier with how it's turned out. The level of excellence that David operates on is inspiring and the entire process has been challenging and truly enjoyable."

He says the project, which could be one disc or two, will be ready in time for the film's October 1 opening. Reznor said he expects the album to be available several weeks before the movie's release, which, he noted, is "really f---ing good. And dark!"

While Reznor has contributed songs to soundtracks before, including David Lynch's "Lost Highway," this is the first time he's committed to recording an entire soundtrack. "The Social Network" tracks the rise of Facebook, from its inception in 2004 on the Harvard University campus, and stars Jessie Eisenberg, Justin Timberlake and Rashida Jones.

Are you excited to be getting Nine Inch Nails music in the form of Reznor's upcoming soundtrack? And when you think of Facebook, do you think NIN? Tell us what you think in the comments!

Taylor Lautner Talks Werewolf Vs. Vampire Fights On 'Letterman'

'It'd be a tough call. [Werewolves are] very strong. We are very fast,' Lautner said on 'Late Show With David Letterman.'

"Eclipse" has been tearing up the multiplex for days, but that doesn't mean the vampire film's stars get a break from their appearance-a-minute publicity duties. Ashley Greene, Nikki Reed and Xavier Samuel have already jetted across the pond for the London premiere, and the cast is expected to pop up at random surprise appearances across the U.S. throughout the weekend.

Lucky for Taylor Lautner, then, that the "Late Show With David Letterman" actually tapes in the afternoon, so perhaps the 18-year-old was able to get a decent night's sleep before the hectic weekend schedule shifts into gear. Wearing a fitted gray suit, Lautner chatted with the talk-show host about his persistent onscreen shirtlessness, who would win in a fight between a vampire and a werewolf, and how he got started in the business.

About that last topic of conversation, thank the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. "[My karate instructor] was actually the blue Power Ranger for a year," Lautner laughed.

The Ranger-turned-teacher encouraged Lautner to start auditioning, which led to a few commercials and then the decision to move the entire Lautner family from Michigan to Los Angeles when he was 11. He soon landed a starring role in "The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D."

And now, of course, he's the proudly shirtless Jacob in the "Twilight" movies. But when Dave wanted to know if Jacob could take down Edward Cullen in a fight, Lautner wouldn't take the bait.

"It'd be a tough call," he said. "[Werewolves are] very strong. We are very fast. We work as a pack. That's kind of our thing."

Andrew Garfield's Journey Toward Spider-Man

Young actor's life will never be the same following director Marc Webb's choosing him as the new Spider-Man.
By Eric Ditzian

On Thursday night in Cancun, Mexico, new "Spider-Man" director Marc Webb and his producers took the stage at a press event to make a long-awaited announcement — one feverishly anticipated and debated since the collapse of Sam Raimi's "Spider-Man" in January: the name of the new Spider-Man.

"Though his name may be new to many, those who have seen his work will know this young man embodies an exceedingly rare combination of intelligence, wit and humanity," Webb said onstage. "Without further ado, meet your new Spider-Man, Andrew Garfield."

And with that, the 26-year-old Garfield walked onto the stage to a chorus of applause, his life never to be the same again. For while he does have a significant filmography to his name, he's never experienced anything that can compare to being the face of a blockbuster comic-book franchise.

Born in Los Angeles, he was raised outside London and got his start as an actor on the stage. In 2006, he was dubbed outstanding newcomer at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards for his West End stage work and in 2007 shared the London Theatre Critics' Circle Most Promising Newcomer Award. By that point, Garfield had already stepped in front of the camera for big- and small-screen work.

He appeared alongside Robert Redford, Tom Cruise and Meryl Streep in "Lions for Lambs," prompting Variety to name him one of 10 Actors to Watch. "I'm just lucky to be there working on the same project as them, although I don't really expect to be recognized later by audiences," he told the magazine.

Across the pond, he blew British audiences away with his performance as a secretive kid in "Boy A," a TV movie that won Garfield a BAFTA Best Actor Award. Perhaps his most well-known role to date, though, is a turn opposite Heath Ledger in "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus," in which he played a gangly kid and romantic rival to Ledger as they both competed for the affections of Lily Cole.

While "Spider-Man" won't hit theaters until the summer of 2012, this year is already shaping up to be a profile-raising one for Garfield. He stars alongside Jesse Eisenberg this fall in the highly anticipated, David Fincher-directed "The Social Network" and also with Keira Knightley in "Never Let Me Go," an adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro's haunting novel of the same name.
