Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five were onto something when they recorded one of rap's earliest hits, The Message" in 1982. Not only would hip-hop rock the party for years to come, but the then-budding genre would grow to become the CNN of the streets -- detailing the ills of the inner city ghetto. On November 30, Common, Lupe Fiasco, Rick Ross and LL Cool J will join Furious Five members Melle Mel and Scorpio for a special performance of "The Message" during "The Grammy Nominations Concert," airing live on CBS.

The one-hour show, will reveal the nominations for the 54th annual Grammy Awards which will take place on February 12, 2012 in Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. LL Cool J will host the awards and Lady Gaga, Ludacris, Rihanna, Sugarland and USher have already been announced as performers while Nicki Minaj and Katy Perry will be on deck as award presenters.

For the fourth time the nominations will be announced during primetime and "The Grammy Nominations Concert" will not only feature the cross-generational rap performance, but will also boast performances from past Grammy winners and nominees.

On November 21 it was announced that "The Message" would be inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame, 30 years after it was recorded. On the track rappers Melle Mel and Ed "Duke Bootee" Fletcher rhymed about junkies in the alley, pimps, prostitutes and the rampant unemployment of the 1980s. The groundbreaking lyrics were summed up perfectly on the track's hook, "It's like a jungle sometimes it makes me wonder how I keep from goin' under."

"The Message" has since been a staple not only in hip-hop, sampled by Ice Cube in 1993 on a remix to his "Check Yo Self" single and again on Diddy's "Can't Nobody Hold Me Down" in 1997.

The Grammy Nominations Concert Live-- Countdown to Music's Biggest Night will air on November 30 on CBS at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

Selena Gomez 'Humbled' By 2011

'I feel like this approach of this year, I wasn't expecting any of the things that happened,' Gomez says.

Selena Gomez has had quite a year. Not sure what we're talking about? Let us refresh your memory.

She toured, hosted the VMA pre-show, hosted the EMA show in Belfast, Northern Ireland, released several music videos off her album When the Sun Goes Down, including "Hit the Lights," starred in the flick "Monte Carlo" and said goodbye to her Disney series, "The Wizards of Waverly Place."

So when Gomez looks back on 2011, what will she remember most? "To be honest, it would probably be when my series ended and not in, like, a happy way, but it was kind of like it was a new chapter in my life," she told MTV News. "I think it was a really interesting time for me and that time in this year was probably my favorite."

The series wrapped filming earlier this year, but will continue airing into early 2012.

While saying goodbye to her show resonated with the star, she could have never foreseen how big her We Own the Night Tour would be. "My music, for sure, [surprised me], like touring. I definitely was excited to get on the road and be able [to have] my first headlining tour," she said. "I was excited to go everywhere and meet my fans and experience different places. To be honest, I didn't expect the tour to do as well as it did, and we went to Canada and Canada was amazing and made me feel very humbled."

As 2011 rolls along, Gomez is going into the coming year with the same philosophy she had for the last. "I feel like this approach of this year, I wasn't expecting any of the things that happened," she said. "And so I just kind of want to go into the end of this year and the beginning of next year just excited and in a good place and not planning anything."

Before the new year does come along, Gomez has some plans to just spend the holidays with those she loves. "I'm gonna have a week off for Thanksgiving, which will be nice, and then a week and a half or two weeks for Christmas time," she said. "And then I'm going to just relax and do nothing."

She has a busy year ahead of her that includes hitting the set of her next film, "Spring Breakers," co-starring James Franco, Vanessa Hudgens and Emma Roberts.

Charlize Theron Teases Kristen Stewart 'Showdown'

'I'm just really, really, really hoping I get to kill her,' the 'Snow White and the Huntsman' star jokes to MTV News.

Ever since the trailer arrived for Kristen Stewart's next likely blockbuster, "Snow White and the Huntsman" -- a.k.a. her first big post-"Twilight" movie -- we've been chomping at the bit for more info about the film.

Luckily, MTV News had a fun-filled chat recently with Stewart's "Huntsman" co-star Charlize Theron, during which the South African-born beauty revealed that she and Stewart are about to shoot the film's climactic battle sequence.

"I'm still shooting ['Huntsman'], I'm going back in two days," Theron told us as she promoted the comedy "Young Adult." "I haven't really worked with [Kristen]. I've done some small things with her, but we're about to shoot our big showdown, and fingers crossed for me. It's the big battle. I'm just really, really, really hoping I get to kill her," she said with a smile. "That is how the story ends up, right?"

While the Rupert Sanders-directed flick is a new adaptation of the classic fairy tale, somehow we don't think Theron will get her wish. Maybe her Evil Queen will wound Stewart's Snow White in some way, but death doesn't seem too likely.

For her part, Stewart has had nothing but praise to heap on the film -- so much so that she's open to the idea of doing more than one movie as the fairest one of all.

"Oh, man, to be totally candid and honest with you, when I first signed on to this thing, the idea of doing another franchise was like, 'Wow, [we'll] cross that bridge when it comes.' It was something so far outside my realm of thinking," Stewart told us recently. "I was so focused on the first one, and I thought, 'Maybe, maybe,' but I've got stars in my eyes. I'm literally over the moon about what I'm doing right now," she said of her work on "Huntsman." "Yes, I would love to [do more 'Snow White' films]."

Check out everything we've got on "Snow White and the Huntsman."

After a very successful and critically acclaimed run on the Great White Way, Daniel Radcliffe will very soon be ending his run in "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" and passing the torch to "Glee" star Darren Criss, who will take over on January 3.

When MTV News caught up with Radcliffe -- who we named as the actor we're most thankful for in 2011 -- we asked for his thoughts on his successor and whether he had any decision or veto power in Criss being added to the cast.

"Oh God, no. I don't have any power over those things at all, nor should I," Radcliffe said. "I think it's fantastic. I'm actually kind of thrilled. He went to the same high school as a couple of the guys in our show did. I think he's really talented. I've not met him yet, but I'm sure he's very nice. He's a very, very talented guy, and I'm sure he'll do a great job."

Radcliffe is bummed for Criss that he only gets to perform the "Succeed" role for three weeks, due to his busy "Glee" work schedule.

"I feel slightly sorry for him in a way," Radcliffe said. "I needed time with it to get it right, and you don't have that, because obviously he has to go back to 'Glee.' I'm sure if it was up to him, he would have liked to do a longer run."

Although the two stars have yet to meet, they share a mutual admiration for each other. "I've seen a few episodes [of 'Glee']," Radcliffe admitted. "I haven't seen [Criss] in it, but I've seen three or four episodes probably. I liked it. My girlfriend is really into it."
