The echoes of MTV News' "Breaking Dawn" live stream event with Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner are still reverberating through Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, but MTV News is already getting set to do it all over again.

On Monday, November 14, at 8 p.m. ET on MTV.com, host Josh Horowitz will be streaming live for two hours from the red-carpet premiere of from "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" outside L.A.'s Nokia Theatre. That means we'll once again be talking to Pattinson, Stewart and Lautner, as well as the rest of your favorite "Twilight" stars. It's all happening just days before the film arrives in theaters on November 18.

We also just posted our full interview with Pattinson from last week's press day — a meaty chat in which he discusses key scenes, the status of upcoming projects and why he'd probably be "dead" had "Twilight" not come into his life. On Friday, we'll share our sit-down interview with Stewart, followed by chats next week with Lautner, Jackson Rathbone, Nikki Reed, Julia Jones, Booboo Stewart, director Bill Condon and screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg.

It all leads up to the red-carpet premiere on November 14. As always, we want fans to take part in the action, so tweet us your questions @MTVNews using the hashtag #TwilightLIVE. We'll see you live from the carpet starting at 8 p.m. ET!

Eminem, Dr. Dre Inspire 50 Cent To Take His Time

'I'll be dead, I'll be gone, and the material will still be here to influence new artists,' 50 tells MTV News.

Recording with Dr. Dre and Eminem is bound to rub off eventually. While in the middle of recording his upcoming fifth solo album, 50 Cent has learned to take his time in the booth, and that in part explains the delay in releasing his LP.

"This is the first time that I've recorded and I haven't put pressure to release at a specific day. I've been on the shot clock the entire time. Dre and Em — I mean Dre's record hasn't been out in 11 years, so when you talk about perfection, it's gotta be crazy, right?" he told MTV News while at a New York book signing for his just-released anti-bullying book, "Playground."

Dre's 2001 was released in 1999 and not long after its release, fans began to hear rumblings about the oft-delayed Detox. Dre, a noted perfectionist, has been said to be putting the finishing touches on the LP for quite some time now, and recently Fif has adopted the super-producer's ear for detail.

"I think that provides additional pressure for him that it's taken this long, and in Em's case he has high standards too," 50 said. "You wouldn't believe how many times he records the records that you hear. He's done it over and over and over and over to make it sound like the way that he feels it's supposed to sound."

For his 2003 breakout hit "In Da Club," the G-Unit general wasn't nearly as meticulous as he has recently become. "In the beginning, it was like 30 minutes, 'In Da Club' was 30 minutes, to write it, have the vocals laid," 50 revealed. "I punched in a few times, it didn't matter it was good. Everybody bought it, they said it's a classic and now it's a process where I'm recording it, listening to it and saying, 'I can do that better than that.' "

The veteran hitmaker has realized the influence that his catalog has, and it is that realization that has him thinking differently. "I understand it now because all the material that I put out is gonna be here longer than I am," he said. "So I'll be dead, I'll be gone, and the material will still be here to influence new artists moving forward."

Robert Pattinson Calls Fulfilling Fans' Fantasies 'Easy'

'I can fulfill people's sexual fantasy expectations without even thinking about it,' he jokes about 'Breaking Dawn' sex scene.

Of all the scenes to be excited about seeing adapted from Stephenie Meyer's book to the big screen when "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" opens on November 18, fans have made no effort to hide the fact that they are dying to see the "honeymoon scene" above all others.

When MTV News caught up with Robert Pattinson recently during the press day for the film, we asked him if he felt pressure from fans to really deliver on the highly anticipated romantic moment.

"Yeah, but at the same time no. That's the one time where I have felt kind of like the coolest person," Pattinson admitted with a laugh. "This is easy! I can fulfill people's sexual fantasy expectations without even thinking about it, piece of cake. That isn't acting," he joked.

"The only thing [that was difficult] is the vanity aspect," Pattinson continued. "Taylor [Lautner] just ruined the whole series for me. As soon as he buffed up, I went, 'Well, I'm throwing in the towel' on 'New Moon.' "

All joking aside, Pattinson recently admitted that he took a half page or so out of Lautner's training book in order to prep for his shirtless scenes in the film.

"I didn't eat any candy and I didn't drink any beer for a while," Pattinson said of his health-conscious prep. "I went kind of nuts. Me and Kristen [Stewart] went nuts working out, because we hadn't worked out for any of [the previous films]," he admitted.

"I had it for, like, two weeks," he said of his abs, with Stewart agreeing and adding that they gave up being healthy immediately after their skin-showing scenes were wrapped.

"As soon as I didn't have to be shirtless anymore, [my good habits were] gone immediately," Pattinson continued. "During [filming in] Brazil, the day before I had to do my shirtless scene, I realized [my abs] weren't as good as Taylor's, so I just ate every bit of chocolate in the minibar. I started eating cheeseburgers and stuff."

Pattinson also shared his, let's say, intimate experiences filming the love scene. "I just ended up thinking purely about vanity things. You're sitting there in a little g-string. ... They give me a big g-string, but it was too small for me. It was like old ham."

Rihanna's 'We Found Love' Gets R3hab Treatment

Dutch DJ/producer talks to MTV News about his 'XS' remix of the hit song and teases one more 'for the ladies.'

As Rihanna's mega-single "We Found Love" continues its chart-topping run, dance music fans have been raving over a string of recent remixes. While superstar DJ/producer Calvin Harris created the song's euphoric pop/house beat, beatmakers like Cahill, Chuckie and R3hab have cooked up club-ready versions of the track.

MTV News recently caught up with R3hab — Harris' buddy and Afrojack's mentee — and he talked about his new "We Found Love (XS Remix)" of the song. He also revealed that an additional version for "the ladies" is in the pipeline.

"It's a 'Halloween'-style [remix]," R3hab explained of the darker tone heard on the "XS" mix released on Tuesday. "I made two versions ... one version is more melodic and euphoric. This [first] one is more dark because the lyrics [to] 'We Found Love' can also be seen as something dark. 'We are at the end of the world/ And I still found love.' So from there came the more darker chord progression and the more darker atmosphere, like Dracula is coming to get you. It's just got a lot of emotion and that worked out great for me."

R3hab plans to follow up the "XS" cut with a "Surrender" remix; both tracks are named after popular Las Vegas club parties.

" 'XS' is more the 'ravey' night," R3hab (born Fadil El Ghoul) explained. "And 'Surrender' is more for the [hotel] pool, for the girls. I call it 'one for the boys, and one for the ladies.' The boys' is the hard-rocking 'Halloween' version and the other version is more for the ladies; more vocal." The Dutch DJ went on to compare the guys' tune to being at the Insomniac festival event in San Bernadino, California: "Like at Escape from Wonderland when 50,000 kids are raving in front of you, you want to play the hard version. And when you're playing the small, more intimate club, you wanna play the one that's for the ladies."

Chuckie, Cahill and R3hab's "We Found Love" remix package is out now. Although the release date for R3hab's "Surrender" cut is still undetermined, fans should keep all eyes on R3hab, who's got a monster remix for Katy Perry on the way as well as plans to team up with Afrojack for a follow-up to "Prutataaa."

'X Factor' Mini-MC Astro Channels Eminem

Chris Rene and Rachel Crow also earn high praise from the mentors.

Youngsters stole the night when "The X Factor" went to Hollywood on Wednesday (November 9), with the top 11 contestants singing songs from the movies. Well, maybe Songs That Were at One Time Used in Movies would be more appropriate, since few people associate Coldplay's "Fix You" with the Owen Wilson starrer "You, Me and Dupree" or U2's "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" with the Julia Roberts/ Richard Gere flick "Runaway Bride."

Regardless, Astro, the 15-year-old rapper with enough confidence to fuel a rocket ship to the moon, soared with his rendition of Eminem's "Lose Yourself," which kept the Oscar-winning song's structure but saw all new verses — including a shout-out to boxing legend Joe Frazier, who died this week — from the pint-size spitter. "You are a champion tonight," Nicole Scherzinger told him, while Simon Cowell seemed equally impressed with Astro's performance and the show's ability to clear the use of the notoriously protective Eminem's song.

Elsewhere, 13-year-old Rachel Crow was compared by Cowell to a "mini-little Beyoncé" after her stirring, show-closing take on Bey's "I'd Rather Go Blind" from "Cadillac Records." All four judges were wowed, with L.A. Reid telling her, "Up until now, I wasn't sure if you were a true contender ... but tonight, you proved that you have your eye on the target."

Here's how the rest of the contestants fared on Wednesday's show:

The Boys
Marcus Canty was nearly engulfed by smoke onstage while singing "I'm Going Down" (from "Car Wash"), but three of the four judges agreed he was a "star," with Cowell offering praise but saying next time, he should ditch the corny sequined jacket he wore during the performance. And Chris Rene took the Astro route and went full-on hip-hop with his performance, rechristening Coolio's "Gangsta's Paradise" as "Pastime Paradise," which earned high marks from the judges and was called "amazing" by Abdul, while Cowell offered a congratulatory "Welcome back, Chris Rene."

The Girls
Drew took on Coldplay's "Fix You," and after Abdul criticized her dress, she was forced to take her foot out of her mouth when Cowell told her the 14-year-old designed it herself. Reid complimented Drew's performance but said it was too similar to her offerings from past weeks. Melanie Amaro took on Michael Jackson's "Man in the Mirror" and was dubbed "bloody fantastic" by Cowell, though Reid said it was "strong, but predictable," saying she didn't take enough risks with the song.

The Over 30's
Stacy Francis split the judges with her version of Whitney Houston's "Queen of the Night," which "delivered in a big way" according to Abdul but left Reid puzzled ("Why did you do the third most popular song from the album?" he asked, criticizing a song he helped pen for the "Bodyguard" soundtrack). LeRoy Bell's "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" was dubbed "dignified" by Cowell, and both Reid and Abdul said it was the performance they've been waiting for from the 60-year-old. Burrito maker Josh Krajcik put some extra chipotle sauce on his version of Joe Cocker's "With a Little Help From My Friends." While Cowell dogged the production ("You were like Dracula and the brides up there," he said of Krajcik and his backup dancers), Scherzinger stood and applauded during the performance and said he's deserving of the $5 million prize.

The Groups
Abdul's students suffered a blow last week but looked to battle their way back on Wednesday. Lakoda Rayne were praised for their unity on their version of Keith Urban's "Someone Like You" — from "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days," apparently — and Cowell said they've become "the group I always hoped and prayed you'd become." Meanwhile the Stereo Hogzz, who narrowly escaped elimination last week, did a gender flip on Christina Aguilera's "Ain't No Other Man" (used in "Get Smart") which Scherzinger labeled "bananas" but Cowell criticized for not being the kind of song they'd make in the studio.

One finalist is scheduled to be eliminated during Thursday's live "X Factor" results episode, which is also slated to feature performances from Willow Smith and Jessie J.

After a slight delay, the video for Bruno Mars' "It Will Rain" is finally here, and the clip opens with a pivotal scene from "Breaking Dawn - Part 1."

After the opening sequence with Bella and Edward getting married in front of their friends and family, the video cuts to a love story between Mars, who recorded the track especially for the Bill Condon-directed flick, and his lovely leading lady.

Bruno and his onscreen love experience the many joys, trials and tribulations of being in a relationship. And as is often the case in real life, things starts out cute; every little moment and snuggle is more romantic than the one before. Bruno goes out of his way to court his female friend, even holding a private screening of "Breaking Dawn" to woo her. They share kisses as footage of Bella and Edward's honeymoon flashes on the wall. But at some point, the pair begin to fight, though Bruno isn't going to let her go that easily: He uses his songwriting skills to persuade her to stay with him.

The heartbreak expressed on the track is mirrored in solo shots of Bruno standing around looking sullen. As the video closes out, we see that the song Bruno wrote while his lady was asleep turned out to be romantic enough to win her back.

In the final shot, Bruno stands alone while rain hits the window behind him and sings, "Cause there'll be no sunlight if I lose you, baby/ There'll be no clear skies if I lose you, baby/ Just like the clouds, my eyes will do the same if you walk away/ Every day, it will rain, rain, rain."

The soundtrack for "Breaking Dawn - Part 1" was released this week and features tracks from Mars, Christina Perri ("A Thousand Years") and Theophilus London ("Neighbors"), to name a few

The highly anticipated fourth film in the "Twilight Saga" series opens November 18.

Trina Teams With Rick Ross On Post-Slip-N-Slide Album

Trina released her debut album, Da Baddest Bitch, via Slip-n-Slide Records in 2000, and she remained with the Miami-based label to drop four additional LPs, including her most recent, 2010's Amazin'.

But when she stopped by MTV News' "RapFix Live" on Wednesday (November 9), Trina confirmed that her upcoming sixth album would signal the end of an era with Slip-n-Slide.

"I'm no longer considered to be affiliated with Slip-n-Slide," Trina said. "Slip-n-Slide is like my family. I grew up with those guys, and it's been a long journey. I love them dearly, but it's time, in my career, for me to move forward, and I'm excited about taking the next step and seeing what's there for me."

Trina emphasized that her split with the label was an amicable one and a necessary step in her evolution as an artist. "It's scary after you've been with somebody for all of your career to step out on your own," she said. "You're wondering which way to turn, but I'm ready and willing to do what I need to do for myself.

"I'm not the kid on Slip-n-Slide's roster anymore," she continued. "I've spent my whole career with Slip-n-Slide — five albums — and I'm really excited about going forward without them, but I still look at them as family, no matter what."

During her sit-down with Sway, Trina also revealed that she's been working with Rick Ross to craft her sixth album, which inevitably led to questions about a possible deal with Rozay's Maybach Music Group. Trina wouldn't confirm (or deny) if she will be the latest addition to the squad, opting only to speak about her relationship with Ross.

"Ross has been a mentor in my career from the start. Even before the world got a chance to see him, he was a part of my team," she said. "For him to come out and be very successful and do his thing and for me to still have him in my life, it's a blessing. For me to work with him on my sixth album and have him there to guide it, understand what I want and see my vision, that means everything to me."

More details are emerging regarding the untimely death of New York rap legend Heavy D. According to Ed Winter of the Los Angeles County Coroner's office, the beloved artist, born Dwight Errington Myers, was already ill before he collapsed Tuesday morning just outside his Beverly Hills condominium.

"He had gone to the doctor the day before," Winter told New York's Daily News. "He had what appeared to be flu-like symptoms."

"He said he had a touch of pneumonia, maybe from traveling," cousin Ruddy Phillips, 50, told the Daily News after speaking with the entertainer's dad. "He just got back from England."

The Overweight Lover was conscious though experiencing trouble breathing when he was transported to Cedars Sinai Medical Center after a 911 call was placed at 11:25 a.m. PT on his behalf Tuesday. However, he was pronounced dead at 1 p.m. PT. Although an autopsy has been performed, the coroner is declining to announce any cause of death until toxicology tests are conducted due to Heav taking various medications.

The Mount Vernon, New York, rapper's death hit many close to heart, including Eddie F, who along with dancers G Wiz and the late Trouble T Roy were the "Boyz" in Heavy D & the Boyz. The DJ and producer called into MTV News' "RapFix Live" on Wednesday and revealed how he found out about the unfortunate news.

"I had gotten a call from a few of the guys from our crew, and I thought they were calling me about something else that we were working on," Eddie F told MTV News. "They told me the news, and at first I didn't believe 'em. I was like, 'There's no way.' And then I got a call from G Wiz, and then I started making calls. I actually spoke to Andre Harrell, and he had Puff on the other line and everybody was just getting information and really just hysterical. From there, we started getting bits and pieces in."

Heavy D & the Boyz were the first act record executive Andre Harrell signed to his Uptown Records, which released the act's debut, Living Large, in 1987. While at Uptown, Sean "Diddy" Combs got his start in the music industry as Harrell's intern. Naturally, they all became close friends with the universally adored Heavy D, whose music was well regarded by all types of music fans.

"Heavy was always a class act," Eddie F said. "The thing that he did that may be apparent, but maybe a lot of people didn't pay attention to it, he was the type of rapper like the hardest, hardest, hard rock was a fan of his, and he would move on the street. But then he was also respectful and your mother, your grandmother could listen to Heavy D. He was always stylish and fashionable and he was a professional, he was a hard worker."

'X Factor' Mentor Paula Abdul Fights For Her Groups

Posted: 09 Nov 2011 02:26 AM PST

After an all-group bottom two last week, MTV News' Jim Cantiello says Abdul isn't taking any chances.
By Jim Cantiello

MTV News' own Jim Cantiello is exclusively covering "The X Factor" rehearsals. Read on for his fly-on-the-wall backstage report!

"X Factor" mentor Paula Abdul is determined to keep her remaining groups — the Stereo Hogzz and Lakoda Rayne — out of the bottom two come results time Thursday night. She's always hands-on with her contestants, whether TV cameras are around or not, but last week's all-group bottom two have made her even more passionate about her job.

This week in "X Factor" land, Abdul was everywhere you looked, from inside the house powwowing with choreographer Brian Friedman and vocal producer Claude Kelly to the middle of the studio's parking lot, where she had the crew erect a giant set piece so one of her groups could rehearse on it before they got thrown onstage.

Once it came time to rehearse inside the house, Paula huddled with her groups. Literally, they formed a huddle, like football players. Unlike the NFL, however, the quarterback was wearing showstopping stilettos, which made huddling all the more impressive. Breaking news: Paula Abdul has great balance!

During rehearsal, Abdul was up on her feet behind the judging table, rocking the choreo for her groups. If a camera caught her, she'd look like one of those overzealous pageant moms on "Toddlers & Tiaras," only way more fabulous. (Her stilettos deserve a second shout-out, you guys. They were that fierce!) Not only that, she can still really dance, straight up. And her enthusiasm for her acts is infectious.

But it's not only the groups that are jazzed for Wednesday night's (November 9) performance episode. I overheard one of the Over 30's telling a producer how all 11 remaining acts will look especially good this go-round. "We're all so comfortable with our song choices this week," the contestant gushed.

Meanwhile, the backup dancers are quickly becoming the hardest-working members of the "X Factor" team, and their multitasking skills have reached new heights. Exhibit A: Two shirtless male dancers were spotted outside the stage doors working on their suntans while also devouring a plate of craft service and going over some dance moves — at the same time!

Dancer skin is pretty common around the "X Factor" stage, actually. In between numbers, you can usually find dozens of backup dancers switching costumes right in front of everyone. (They're not getting buck naked, mind you. This isn't "XXX Factor.")

Other tidbits: One contestant had no trouble maneuvering stairs onstage but, hilariously, was confounded by a mic stand. (Turns out the sparkly prop looked great on camera but was faulty. A standard mic stand will suffice.)

Willow Smith will be popping in to make an appearance on "The X Factor" this week. All eyes are on whether she'll say hello to her dad's old double-decker trailer, which is parked directly outside the studio and houses none other than Simon Cowell. Rumor has it Cowell is angling for a new triple-decker trailer to one-up the Fresh Prince. Amazing.

Speaking of Simon, Nicole Scherzinger banned him from her Over 30's rehearsals. I imagine she doesn't want him taking credit for her contestants' success any more. Smart move, Nicole!

I have a sneaking suspicion Simon will get plenty of raves for his own contestants this week. After one girl finished a run-through, Simon leapt out of his chair to smother her with a bear hug.

Simon was so stoked, in fact, he even stayed around for L.A. Reid's boys' rehearsals and — dare I expose him — actually danced during one of L.A.'s contestants' upbeat numbers. Full disclosure: he does not move like Jagger, but he definitely has impressive rhythm.

The $5 million question: Will he boogie during Wednesday night's live show?

You can catch Jim on the "X Factor Pepsi Pre-Show," streaming at 7 p.m. ET tonight on TheXFactorUSA.com!

Justin Bieber's 'Santa Claus' Joins Classic Cartoon Clips

Posted: 09 Nov 2011 01:36 AM PST

JB follows in the tradition of A-ha, Kanye West, Paula Abdul and others with animated videos.
By Jocelyn Vena

Justin Bieber is not only going steampunk for a version of his "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town" video; he's also getting animated.

In the new clip, Bieber hangs with Kris Claus and Topper the Penguin as they go around with various woodland creatures and have some fun holiday-themed shenanigans. But Bieber is hardly the first pop performer to go the cartoon route for a music video. In fact, he is the latest in a string of animated clips that date as far back as the Beatles and Pink Floyd. Let's take a look at some classic cartoon clips:

A-ha, "Take On Me"
The true gold standard of animated videos, this video, released back in 1985, snagged six VMAs and broke new ground in the medium. The video used a technique called rotoscoped animation, which allows visual effects to be animated over actual footage. It also seamed together an animated world and a real one, in which a man and woman from the two different worlds pursue one another romantically.

Michael Jackson, "Leave Me Alone"
Perhaps the most aggressive of the examples so far, the video, which dropped in 1989, has Jackson addressing the tabloid rumors of the day, as he rides along in an amusement-park setting. The idea of addressing rumors in videos was later adapted by everyone from Kelly Clarkson and Rihanna to No Doubt.

Paula Abdul, "Opposites Attract"
In 1989, Paula Abdul hooked up with MC Skat Kat for a video that was inspired by the classic Gene Kelly flick "Anchors Aweigh," in which he dances with Jerry Mouse. Animated by the Disney team, the video later won a Grammy for the "X Factor" mentor.

Britney Spears, "Break the Ice"
In 2008, Spears went anime in her clip from the Blackout album. The video's femme fatale is based on Brit's character in the "Toxic" video: a sexy, mysterious woman who lives fast and loose. It was Spears' idea to create an animated video.

Kanye West, "Heartless"
In 2008, a down-and-out animated Yeezy hooked up with Hype Williams. Much like A-ha's clip, it used rotoscoping, allowing West to be depressed in a whole new medium. It's the first time Williams created a cartoon clip.

As for Bieber's song, it's featured on his chart-topping holiday album, Under the Mistletoe, which features a number of guests, including Mariah Carey, Boyz II Men, the Band Perry, Usher and Busta Rhymes. A version of the "Santa Claus" video will play before screenings of "Arthur Christmas: The Movie," which opens November 23.

Robert Pattinson Was 'Delusional' Before 'Twilight'

So where would he be without the franchise? 'Probably dead,' he jokes to MTV News.
By Kevin P. Sullivan, with reporting by Josh Horowitz

Where would Robert Pattinson be without "Twilight" and the undead character that made him a household name?

"Probably dead," he laughed to MTV News.

Pattinson sat down with Josh Horowitz to look back on what the series has been for him both as an actor and as a person, and he said that without the vampire series, he doesn't know what would have happened to him. For a while, the London-born actor didn't know whether acting was for him and struggled with the question of continuing to appear in front of the camera.

"I think a lot of actors think about that all the time," he said.

Pattinson said it has to do with the constant focus on an actor's insecurities that drive people like him to question the profession.

"You have to confront your insecurities quite a lot, and I have plenty, plenty of insecurities," he laughed. "Even more [now]. Before, you could kind of bullsh-- yourself all the time."

For him, obscurity allows for a little less honesty when it comes to self-image. "If no one cares about you, you can be like, 'I'm the greatest person in the whole world,' " he said. "You can be completely delusional."

At 25, Pattinson said there is not even a small sense of vanity anymore. He said he hadn't patted himself on the back for his looks in a while and that it's to the point where he is "almost sick at the sight of [himself]. I'm getting older as well. I'm almost 50."

"The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" hits theaters November 18.

'He will certainly bring his tremendous talent, creativity and relationships to the Oscars,' Academy Awards president Tom Sherak says
By Kara Warner

With all the Oscar news making the rounds this week, you would think that the 84th annual Academy Awards were just around the corner. Luckily, we still have more than three months until the live telecast on February 26, and more than a month until nominations are announced.

The latest news coming straight from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is that Brett Ratner, who tendered his resignation on Tuesday, has been replaced with producer Brian Grazer, who will co-produce the telecast with industry veteran Don Mischer.

"Brian Grazer is a renowned filmmaker who over the past 25 years has produced a diverse and extraordinary body of work," Academy president Tom Sherak said in a statement posted on Oscars.org. "He will certainly bring his tremendous talent, creativity and relationships to the Oscars."

"I am thrilled to welcome Brian Grazer as my partner and that we will be collaborating to produce an outstanding show," echoed Mischer in the statement.

"It's very gratifying to be part of a show that honors excellence in the medium to which I have devoted so much of my career," said Grazer. "Don is a legend, and I am excited to work with him."

Grazer's credentials seem a good fit for producing Hollywood's "biggest night." He's been nominated four times (for writing "Splash," and Best Picture nods for "Apollo 13" and "Frost/Nixon.") and won the Best Picture Oscar in 2001 for "A Beautiful Mind."

Coincidentally, Grazer has worked with recently resigned host, Eddie Murphy, on "The Nutty Professor" and "Tower Heist." Rumor has it that the Academy and Grazer hope that Murphy will reconsider his decision not to be involved in the program.

'Immortals' Is Not 'Just A Guy Movie,' Henry Cavill Says

Posted: 09 Nov 2011 04:25 AM PST

'It's a visual spectacle, and the 3-D only adds to that,' actor says of film, in theaters Friday.

For lovers of big-budget, sweeping Greek hero-based epics, the stylized, intense and slightly foreboding promotional campaign for "Immortals" should have already convinced you to get thee to a theater stat when the film opens on Friday. However, for those who might shy away from blood and gore, the stars of the film insist there is a lot more going on in "Immortals" than in typical testosterone-fueled swords-and-sandals flicks.

"People are going to think it's just a guy movie. It's gonna be all just about violence and it is just for guys," Henry Cavill, who plays demi-god Theseus, told MTV News recently. "This is entirely different. This has that very strong aspect, which all guys are going to love, the sort of blood and gore and swords and fighting, but it's so beautifully done. This is Tarsem Singh we're talking about here, it's a visual spectacle, and the 3-D only adds to that.

"I will say in the past I've been skeptical of [3-D, but] after seeing this, the technology has come along so far. This is incredible, and all the violence in the movie, if people don't like that, it's actually art-ified," he explained. "It becomes a 'beautific' ballet of blood if you will. That all aside, it's an incredible love story as well. You often think of these Greek epics — it skirts over all that stuff — but you've got an incredibly hardened man who's hardened his heart to anything at this stage, and there's a woman who manages to soften him so much so that he starts to think of things which he's never even considered in the past."

Cavill's co-stars were equally enthusiastic in their recommendations.

"It's like nothing I've ever seen," Luke Evans, who plays Zeus, added. "Like Henry said, Tarsem at the helm with his imagination and his enthusiasm and his ideas, it just married so well with what he was doing and the final production. The values of it are just incredible, and we've got this 3-D thing and it just comes alive, it really does."

"I think it's a different take on the whole Greek mythology and that's going to be the biggest surprise," Freida Pinto, who plays the "chosen" oracle Phaedra, said. "Visually it's not like anything, it's not like any of the big-budget action-packed films that you've seen before."

Kim Kardashian Is 'Not My Girl,' Chelsea Handler Jokes

Talk show hosts Wendy Williams and E!'s Handler share some strong opinions about the reality star with MTV News.

Kim Kardashian has remained relatively low-profile since announcing her split from Kris Humphries last week. Aside from doing a bit of press for her handbag line in Australia, Kardashian has mostly shied away from any big sit-downs about filing for divorce. But while the reality starlet's friends and family have been supportive, one of Kim's fellow E! staples is not exactly offering a shoulder to cry on.

Talk show host Chelsea Handler seemed to want to distance herself from her network sister when MTV News caught up with her at the Glamour Women of the Year event in New York on Monday. "She's not my girl, by the way. She's more your girl than my girl, by the way," she deadpanned. "Luckily, I don't work at the [E!] building, so I don't have to hang out with the Kardashians."

Outspoken TV host Wendy Williams didn't have any particular advice for the divorcing Kardashian, but she hoped Kim would be more public about addressing the breakup news.

"You know, Kris [Jenner], we had her mother on the show last week — one thing I have to say about Kris is she never flinched at any of the questions that I asked," Williams said. "She answered all of them to the best of her ability, and I appreciated that. With that said, I think that it's kind of rotten and immature that Kim couldn't have done her own perp walk. And I understand [that Kris is] the one behind the machine, but maybe they could have done it together or they could have worked a couple different shows at the same time as opposed to running across the other side of the world, where perhaps softballs were [lobbed] at Kris or Kim."

While Kim may not be getting much support from talk show hosts, she's getting all the help she needs from pals like La La Anthony. "Anytime someone gets a divorce, it's a difficult time," the "La La's Full Court Life" star said. "All I can do is be her friend and support her through every part of it, and that's what I'm doing."

Cobra Starship Plan 'Cheeky' Video For 'Middle Finger'

'A lot of cheekiness and no middle fingers,' frontman Gabe Saporta promises of Mac Miller-featuring clip.

Cobra Starship threw a dance party with Sabi in their "You Make Me Feel ... " video, but the group has some much different plans for their "Middle Finger" clip.

Despite the song's title, however, Cobra frontman Gabe Saporta promised not one middle finger will be raised in the clip.

"A lot of cheekiness and no middle fingers," he promised. "Even though the song is called 'Middle Finger,' no middle fingers. I think the video is going to be like you'd expect the whole thing to be like: an 'eff you' to everyone, but really it's about us trying to turn a new leaf and become Good Samaritans."

The track itself — which features up-and-coming MC Mac Miller and is from Cobra's album Night Shades — is a funky, poppy dance tune about flipping off haters and having a good time. So the planned Australian shoot should be a perfect fit for the sun-kissed track.

"We're going Down Under, which is my favorite thing to do, because it's going to be summer there when it's winter here," Saporta said.

The video shoot comes just weeks after the band wrapped an opening slot on Justin Bieber's My World Tour. It was a moment that stands out for Saporta in a pretty great year for his band.

"We were playing, like, 50,000-people stadiums," Saporta said of the South American jaunt. "It was insane, and I'm from South America too, so for me, it was especially satisfying. I gotta say, for being the most famous kid in the universe, he's remarkably well-adjusted, and ... there's like 75 people traveling with him. It feels like a family, and it was really nice to be a part of that family for a bit of time."

Justin Bieber Auctioning Off His Snake For Charity

Justin Bieber is auctioning off Johnson, the baby boa constrictor he brought to the 2011 Video Music Awards, with all proceeds going to Pencils of Promise, one of the organizations he's sponsoring through his Believe charity drive.

That means one lucky fan has the chance to win a decidedly unique bit of Bieber memorabilia.

Bidding is now under way over on the Charity Buzz website (Johnson is currently going for $175, FYI) and closes November 29. Of course, only serious bidders need apply, because if you end up winning the auction, you'll be on the hook for the long haul, as a disclaimer on the site cautions:

"Keeping a pet snake is a long-term responsibility. Before making any decision about keeping one, please ensure you have the money, space, knowledge, time, resources and enthusiasm required to properly care for the species you intend to keep, for the duration of its life."

Enthusiasm is key, since boa constrictors can live 20 years or more in captivity, and, as Charity Buzz states, "the welfare of this snake is the sole responsibility of the adopter ... the adopter agrees to give the snake good care, which includes quality premium food, fresh water, sanitation and grooming, clean and secure indoor housing, clean and secure outdoor housing and overall safety." The winning bidder must also guarantee Johnson's veterinary care will be provided for.

Bieber announced the launch of his Believe charity drive earlier this month, with the release of his Under the Mistletoe. He's donating a portion of the sales from the holiday disc — which just debuted at #1 on the Billboard albums chart — to charity and is encouraging fans to match his donations to seven specific organizations: the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Pencils of Promise, Musicians on Call, Project Medishare for Haiti, City of Hope, the Boys & Girls Club of America and the Grammy Foundation.

Will you bid on Justin's snake? Let us know in the comments!

Eddie Murphy Steps Down As Oscar Host

Just one day after Brett Ratner announced his exit as producer, the 2012 Academy Awards have lost another key participant: host Eddie Murphy.

According to a statement from Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Tom Sherak, Murphy didn't want to continue with the gig after the loss of Ratner.

"I appreciate how Eddie feels about losing his creative partner, Brett Ratner, and we all wish him well," Sherak said.

The "Tower Heist" star didn't specifically address his reasons for resigning, but said he is sorry things didn't work out for everyone involved.

"First and foremost I want to say that I completely understand and support each party's decision with regard to a change of producers for this year's Academy Awards ceremony," Murphy said in the statement. "I was truly looking forward to being a part of the show that our production team and writers were just starting to develop, but I'm sure that the new production team and host will do an equally great job."

Ratner submitted his resignation to the Academy on Tuesday after making headlines with his recent comments about a sexual relationship with actress Olivia Munn and, at a screening of "Heist," using a gay slur, claiming, "Rehearsal is for f--s."

"Over the last few days, I've gotten a well-deserved earful from many of the people I admire most in this industry expressing their outrage and disappointment over the hurtful and stupid things I said in a number of recent media appearances," he wrote in a letter to the entertainment industry. "To them, and to everyone I've hurt and offended, I'd like to apologize publicly and unreservedly."

No word yet on who is in talks to replace Ratner or Murphy. The 84th annual Academy Awards will be broadcast live on February 26.

Heavy D Remembered By Iconic Producer Pete Rock

Cousin of rap's Overweight Lover reminisces during call to New York's Hot 97.

Heavy D's death on Tuesday has hit the entire hip-hop community pretty hard, but for Pete Rock, who not only collaborated with Heav but was his cousin, things are difficult.

Still, the legendary hip-hop producer took the time to call in to New York City's Hot 97 morning show on Wednesday (November 9) and spoke with hosts Peter Rosenberg and Cipha Sounds. "Just trying to fathom the thought of all of this, it's very hurtful," Rock said of Heavy D, who was born Dwight Arrington Myers. "This man, he gave me everything."

The trailblazing rapper, who rose to fame with his group Heavy D & the Boyz in the late 1980s, died at 44. While the cause of death remains unconfirmed, early police reports say that Heav complained of having difficulty breathing. After cops responded to a 911 call on Tuesday, a still-conscious Heavy D was transported to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he was pronounced dead at 1 p.m. ET.

Pete Rock, who is also Heav's first cousin, told the radio hosts that he was with the rapper/actor just weeks ago and he seemed to be in good health. "It's hard because it's still unbelievable. I didn't expect this to happen this fast, I was just with him a couple of weeks ago," the producer revealed. "I spent the night; he didn't even want me to leave. It's like he didn't want me to go and I laughed at him ... it was crazy."

It was Heavy D who gave the Mount Vernon, New York, producer his start. Mr. Big Stuff's success helped pave the way for Pete Rock to make his mark with rapper C.L. Smooth. On Pete and Smooth's 1992 album Mecca and the Soul Brother, the duo even paid homage to deceased Heavy D & the Boyz group member Troy Dixon (a.k.a. Trouble T Roy) on their classic single "They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.)."

"I felt like he was my guider, my person that just put me in place. He was my #1 believer," Rock said while on the radio. "He was just too good to be true."

The #1 Soul Brother also spoke about the fond memories he shared with his cousin, remarking that their bond was "deeper than music." Pete also noted that the two musicians had completed a song just two weeks ago.

Share your memories of Heavy D on Facebook.

It's going to be a very Justin Christmas. As predicted, Justin Bieber will land his second #1 album in a row next week when his holiday disc, Under the Mistletoe, nabs the top spot on the Billboard 200.

And though in recent days he's been facing ongoing questions about the paternity suit filed against him by a 20-year-old woman, Bieber has been promoting Mistletoe hard, which appears to have paid off with sales of 210,000 in its first week. That was more than enough to hold off the second effort from rapper Wale, Ambition, which will come in at #2 (164,000), according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan.

Country singer Miranda Lambert is at #3 with Four the Record (133,000), edging out former "Britain's Got Talent" star Susan Boyle, whose second effort, Someone to Watch Over Me, scores a #4 bow thanks to 132,000 units moved. English act Florence and the Machine make it into the top 10 at #6 with Ceremonials (105,000), while singer/actor Tyrese sneaks in at #9 with Open Invitation (76,000).

The rest of the top 10: Adele holds strong at #5 (108,000), Coldplay fall six spots in week two to #7 as Mylo Xyloto sales dropped 77 percent to 104,000, Michael Bublé moved another 89,000 copies of Christmas (#8) and Kelly Clarkson falls eight spots to #10 in her second week with Stronger, which slipped 69 percent on sales of 51,000.

Just outside the top 10, long-running metal act Megadeth come in at #11 with Th1rt3en (42,000), teen singer Jackie Evancho is at #16 with Heavenly Christmas (27,000) and Blink-182 offshoot Angels & Airwaves sneak in at #30 with Love, Part Two (16,000). Further down the line, a remastered version of U2's Achtung Baby lands at #35 (13,000), just barely ahead of the much-derided Lou Reed and Metallica album, Lulu (#36, 13,000).

Over on the iTunes charts, Wale wins the digital-album sales war, taking the #1 position over Bieber, with Florence and the Machine, Coldplay, Lambert and Adele coming in behind. Rounding out the albums list are Angels & Airwaves, Bublé, Tyrese and Clarkson.

Rihanna lords over the iTunes singles chart with "We Found Love," followed by LMFAO's "Sexy and I Know It," Adele's "Someone Like You," Flo Rida's "Good Feeling," David Guetta's "Without You" and Foster the People's "Pumped Up Kicks." Maroon 5's summer smash, "Moves Like Jagger," holds on at #7, beating out T-Pain's "5 O'Clock," Gym Class Heroes' "Stereo Hearts" and Bruno Mars' "It Will Rain."

We will see how strong Mac Miller's pull is next week when his major-label debut, Blue Slide Park, hits the charts, along with the Now 40 collection and the "Twilight: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" soundtrack.

'Glee'-Cap: Feels Like 'The First Time'

Two couples — Rachel and Finn and Kurt and Blaine — take it to the next level on latest episode.
By Jim Cantiello

Lea Michele on "Glee"

Sex was all up in "Glee" on Tuesday night, as two couples took things to the next level in an episode appropriately titled "The First Time."

The coitus will surely complicate Finn and Rachel's situation, while it brought Kurt and Blaine closer than ever. For the second week in a row, "Glee" introduced a new character. This one's named Sebastian, played by Grant Gustin, an aggressive new Warbler with one mission: Snatch Blaine away from Kurt.

Yes, Karofsky returned for a brief scene in a gay bar, and yes, Coach Bieste now has a love interest, and yes, Mike Chang's dad cut him off for performing "West Side Story" with his castmates. But let's face it: All anyone's talking about is the dirty deed.

So take a gander at my latest musical "Glee"-Cap. It's waiting for you in all its Hype Williams-inspired glory in the embedded video player above. Sing along if you feel like it!

Light a Duraflame, baby
Silence your phone
They're gonna do it, maybe
While their parents aren't home
Takin' it slow so far
Just a magical kiss
Blaine is horny in a car
So drunk at the gay bar
And Kurt's all, "You ain't gettin' this, no"
Now's not the time
Kurt is losing his mind
(Kurt's losing his mind!)
Jealous of a new guy in town

(He's a slut. And a pig. And a slut pig)
Sebastian's his name
Stealing men is his game
But Blaine's devoted
Now Kurt, he knows it
So Klainers put your hands in the air for ...

Soft-focus sexin'
All up on my TV screen
Soft-focus sexin'
It's tame 'cause conservatives will scream
Soft-focus sexin'
If you want grinding watch "Queer as Folk"
Soft-focus sexin'
You'd think at least we'd get one tiny grope, nope

Rachel wants to do the nasty
To prepare for a role
Her motives make Finn antsy
So he decides to withhold
Cooter the Recruiter tells Finn
"You're not the best"
But it gets him in the mood for
Some pity sex

Soft-focus sexin'
The straight couple makes out on a bed yet ...
Soft-focus sexin'
... The gay guys just lay there instead
Soft-focus sexin'
You can have sex while wearing clothes?!
Soft-focus sexin'
We're still dealing in prime time
So no cigars, just close
Close

[Spoken outro] I know there are some heartbroken
Klainers out there
Who wanted some bump 'n' grind (Bump 'n' grind!)
But we have to wait for our nation to be more accepting
Just give it time (Give it time!)

Soft-focus sexin'
It's better than nothin', I guess
Soft-focus sexin'
I mean, holy crap — they had sex!
