Like shooting stars, the Broadway run of "High Fidelity" (Google it) and Beastie Boys punk songs, some things just aren't meant to last that long.

As of Monday (October 31), you can add Kim Kardashian's second marriage to that list. A mere 72 days after exchanging pricey vows with New Jersey Nets forward Kris Humphries in one of the most lavishly televised nuptials since the royal wedding, Kardashian threw in the towel on Halloween, filing divorce papers and citing "irreconcilable differences."

The filing put an end to weeks of rumors that all was not well in the Kardashian/Humphries household and, despite the NBA lockout, got us thinking about some of the gaudy numbers the pair put up together in their brief union.

20.5 carats: The reported size of the dog-choking $2 million engagement ring Humphries presented to his lady love, but which they allegedly got at a steep discount. By comparison, her wedding band cost a modest $200,000.

5 million: Estimated number of people who watched "Kim's Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event" on the E! network, which also aired the wedding of Kim's sister, Khloé, to basketballer Lamar Odom, in 2009.

$10 million: Reported cost of the borrowed high-end jewelry Kardashian wore on her wedding day.

$2 million: Cost of flower arrangements for the wedding, which included African white roses. The couple also registered for a $7,500 Baccarat vase.

$50,000: Cost of Kardashian's bachelorette party, which, like most of the wedding expenses, was picked up by someone else, in this case the Tao nightclub in Las Vegas.

72 days: The length of Kardashian's marriage to Humphries.

Six months/ three months: Length of time the couple dated before getting engaged and the amount of time they were engaged before their wedding.

$50,000: Rumored cost of the facelift Kardashian's mom, Kris Jenner, underwent just before the ceremony.

Four years: The length of Kim's first marriage, to music producer Damon Thomas.

6.8 years: The median duration for women in second marriages that end in divorce in the U.S.

37 minutes/ 30 minutes: The first number is how fashionably late the ceremony started, the second the total length of the blessed event.

1,728: Total number of hours the couple was married.

$17.9 million: Amount Kardashian and Humphries reportedly earned from the wedding, including a $2.5 million photo deal with People magazine and the $12 million to $15 million the four-hour, two-part wedding special pulled in for the Kardashian clan.

$1 million: Amount billionaire Donald Trump spent on his 2005 wedding to Melania Trump.

$16 million: How much Humphries has made in his seven-year NBA career. (He made $2.9 million in the 2009 season.)

$0: How much Humphries has made so far this season thanks to the NBA lockout.

$6 million: Estimated amount Kardashian earned in 2010 thanks to multiple endorsement deals and a $75,000 appearance fee.

10/10/1: Humphries' points, rebounds and blocked shots per-game percentages for the 2010-11 season.

0/0/0: His stats so far this year thanks to the lockout.

$60,000: The cost of the three $20,000 Vera Wang gowns Kardashian received for free to wear for the ceremony and later that night.

1,851 miles: Distance between Los Angeles and Humphries' hometown of Chaska, Minnesota. The baller reportedly wanted Kardashian to move to Minnesota to raise a family with him, far from the bright lights of her native L.A.

$35 million/ $8 million: The couple's relative net worths. Hint: Kim's is the bigger number.

Demi Lovato 'Totally Different' One Year After Treatment

'I've grown up a lot, and I've overcome a lot,' singer tells MTV News.

Tuesday (November 1) marks one year since Demi Lovato left her tour with the Jonas Brothers to enter a treatment center to deal with emotional and physical issues. Fast-forward one year later, and it's hard for even Lovato to recognize the person she once was. The former Disney starlet recently sat down with MTV News to talk about overcoming her struggles and becoming a role model for young teens.

"I feel like I'm a totally different person today, and I've grown up a lot, and I've overcome a lot, so I'm excited about where I am in my life today," Lovato said.

Even though Lovato is in a good place now, that doesn't mean her road to recovery was an easy one. The "Skyscraper" singer revealed the best piece of advice that helped her get through hard times.

"The best piece of advice is to fake it till you make it," Lovato said. "When I first went into treatment, I didn't want to be there, and I was kind of like, 'I'll just fake it until I make it.' I stayed in there, and I started believing that I was in there for the right reasons. And even though I didn't want to be there at the time, some girls might not want to get help, but if they fake it till they make it, hopefully they can get the help that they need, and they can start to believe it, and they can actually see one day that it's actually the right thing that they're doing."

Since leaving treatment in January, Lovato has talked candidly about her battle with eating disorders and self-mutilation, becoming a role model to young teens that might struggle with the same issues — a job Lovato takes very seriously.

"I do feel a responsibility, but it's not a burden to me," Lovato said. "I feel like there are certain choices in my life that I am faced with every single day, and I think, well, 'How would my little sister feel if I would do this? And how would she feel about this?'

"I have days where I'm cranky, but I definitely want to be there for my fans and step outside and shake their hands and be there for them too, because I'm now a role model, and I want to be there for them."

So, what is the best piece of advice Lovato can give her fans? "I would say: Speak up, and don't be afraid to get help, because it could save their lives."

Lovato has seen much success over this past year. In June, she dropped her first single, "Skyscraper," off her third album, Unbroken. She is getting back on the road this month for a mini-tour and planning a 2012 world tour. Yet, with so much on her plate, Lovato is making it a point to strike a comfortable balance between work and the rest of her life.

"I work because I love doing it, so it's hard to draw that line," she admitted. "It's hard to say 'I need to stop' when I love doing what I do, but it's important to find time for myself and 'me' time, so I make sure that I find that."

'Dancing With The Stars': Rob Kardashian Steps It Up

There wasn't much scary on Monday night's "Dancing With the Stars."

The reality competition show is down to the last six couples, and nearly everyone stepped up their game on the show's Halloween show. Everyone dressed the part -- some scary, some just plain old fun -- and the judges seemed mostly pleased.

Once again at the top of of the leaderboard were Ricki Lake and Derek Hough, who earned three 9's from the judges. The show also had the celebrities doing a group dance the judges also scored, which was added to their individual scores.

David Arquette and Kym Johnson
Arquette and his partner took on the cha-cha-cha dressed as a magician and a magician's assistant, and the judges found the dance to be, well, magical. "Lots of tricks and lots of treats. You've turned yourself into a dancer here. You need a little bit more rhythm, but overall, well done," said head judge Len Goodman. 24/30

J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff
The war hero has been consistently impressing judges -- and voters, apparently -- with his dance moves. On Monday night, he took on the tango, and the judges for the most part thought the duo captured the tone of the piece and found the dance to be upbeat, precise and sharp. "Another very solid performance. This timing was so hard and you actually lost it a few times. You know it," judge Bruno Tonioli said. 25/30

Nancy Grace and Tristan MacManus
Dressed as a devilish duo, the judges thought their routine was off this week. The big problem was the footwork, they said. "Well we have our good days and we have our not-so-good days. Last week was a good day, this week was not so good. I watched you, and you are having the time of your life, and I give you so much credit for that. But you sort of lost your choreography," judge Carrie Ann Inaba said. 21/30

Rob Kardashian and Cheryl Burke
The Kardashians took on the tango this week and hoped to make the judges rethink the relative low scores they gave him last week. In the audience to cheer him on was his sister Kourtney, her boyfriend Scott and their son, Mason. (Missing, of course, was his sister Kim Kardashian, who filed for divorce after 72 days of marriage with NBA player Kris Humphries.) As for the performance, the judges thought it was his best dance yet. "I thought you did a terrific job. Your footwork was good; it had the right amount of attack. ... You did a terrific job. And this is a gruesome week, because we've got the team dance coming," Goodman said. 25/30

Ricki Lake and Derek Hough
The former talk-show hostess danced the paso doble (dressed as Little Red Riding Hood), and the judges said that in spite of her nursing an injury, they loved the shapes and twists that she made. "It was like a blizzard of passion and fear! Another incredible performance," Tonioli said. 27/30

Hope Solo and Maksim Chmerkovskiy
The athlete danced the samba, and unlike past weeks, the judges thought that she coped well with what they considered to be a difficult dance. They liked the production and thought she danced as if her life depended on it. "There's a newfound ease with you, and it's beautiful to see," Inaba said. 24/30

All the celebrities also danced a group dance -- Team Tango and Team Paso Doble -- and they got scored by the judges. Team Tango (Grace, Martinez and Arquette) danced to Rihanna's "Disturbia," and the judges thought they didn't do as well when they danced individually as couples, but liked when they danced as a group. 23/30 Team Paso Doble (Lake, Kardashian and Solo) fared much better. They danced to Evanescence's "Wake Me Up Inside," and the judges thought it was powerful, moody and dramatic. 26/30

We take a look back at soon-to-be-divorced couple's whirlwind courtship and marriage.
By Jocelyn Vena and Christina Garibaldi

After a $10 million wedding, a TV special, 72 days of marriage and several weeks of speculation about a split, Kim Kardashian has filed for divorce from her husband of less than three months, Kris Humphries, citing "irreconcilable differences."

"After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage. I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision," Kardashian told MTV News in a statement about the headline-making divorce. "I had hoped this marriage was forever but sometimes things don't work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best."

So how did Kim and Kris go from falling in love overnight to an even-faster falling-out? Well, let's take a look back at the whirlwind romance:

October 31, 2010: Exactly one year before she filed for divorce, Kim was spotted sitting courtside at her soon-to-be boyfriend's basketball game. A few days later, they made their first public appearance together in New York.

January 1, 2011: By the time New Year's Day hit, the romance heated up and Kim was feeling comfortable enough with her new beau to tweet a photo of a young Kris with the message "I want my son to look like this!"

January 23, 2011: Even though it was pretty obvious the two were dating, Kim told MTV News she was still very much single. "I never have been single in my life," she said. "So [after] getting married as a teenager and then getting into a relationship, each lasting like four years, after that, something inside of me, I just felt like I wanted to be single."

Kim's Cover Up: How The Tabloids Got It Right

February 5, 2011: Kris and Kim stepped out to celebrate his 26th birthday. Just two months later, they took their relationship to the next level when he traveled with the rest of the Kardashian clan to Bora Bora for a family vacation.

May 18, 2011: Just seven months after meeting, Kim and Kris got engaged after he slipped a 20.5-carat, $2 million ring on her finger. "I didn't expect this at all," Kardashian said of the proposal, which included Humphries writing out "Will You Marry Me?" in rose petals in her bedroom. "I was in such shock. I never thought it would happen at home, and I never thought now."

June 8, 2011: Kim's family was just as shocked as the rest of us about the upcoming wedding. "We were totally surprised. I mean, because I had been working so much, and Kris lives in New Jersey, I've only met him not even a handful of times," Khloé told MTV News about the whirlwind romance. "We were at a family dinner and she walks in, and she's like, 'I'm engaged,' but we didn't even know if it was a joke."

Tick Tock: The Shortest Celebrity Marriages Ever

June 12, 2011: It wasn't a joke. And fans got to see what Kim and Kris were like together when Humphries made his "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" debut. Occasionally getting into verbal scuffles with Kardashian's relatives, Kris may not have been a perfect fit in the family, but he seemed to make Kim happy.

August 20, 2011: The two pressed on with their plans to marry, tying the knot in front of 450 guests in an over-the-top affair at an estate in California. In addition to their families, many of their celeb friends also attended the shindig, including Ryan Seacrest, Julianne Hough, Lindsay Lohan, La La Vazquez, Eva Longoria and many of Humphries' Nets teammates. Kim walked down the aisle in Vera Wang, just like Khloé had when she married Lamar Odom.

August 25, 2011: MTV News caught up with Hough a few days after the wedding, and she gushed about the affair. "The dresses were so gorgeous, and watching those beautiful girls walk down the aisle ... they are absolutely stunning," Hough said. "To just see them walking down the aisle was just beautiful."

August 28, 2011: After the wedding, the pair went on their honeymoon in Italy, but Kim rushed back to attend the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards. "Back in the US and it feels sooo good!" she tweeted upon her return. "Had such a fun relaxing time away! Back to reality!"

They Did What? React on Facebook

October 9-10, 2011: For those who didn't make the guest list, the world got to see the wedding when E! aired a four-hour special spanning two nights titled "Kim's Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event." In the special, it was clear that while the couple wanted it to work and cared for one another, their personalities would clash and sometimes lead to lovers' quarrels.

October 31, 2011: A little more than two months after they said "I do," these two are now saying "Not so much." In the weeks leading up to the announcement, they had been plagued by speculation of marital discourse.

November 27, 2011: Even though they are no longer together, Kris and Kim's marriage will be documented on the second season of "Kourtney & Kim Take New York," which kicks off November 27. In previews for the show, fans have gotten a peek at the short-lived marriage. "How am I going to have my career and live in Minnesota?" Kim asks Kris when he suggests they move to his hometown. His response? "Baby, by the time you have kids and they're in school, nobody will probably care about you."

For the "Superman" fans out there, it's safe to say that by now, you've probably seen and overanalyzed "Man of Steel" star Henry Cavill looking all ripped and rugged in the leaked photos from the film's set.

For the most part — nitpicky casting and director complaints notwithstanding — the collective judgment that has come down via various fan sites was: "Cavill looks awesome." And no one was more relieved to hear and see those reactions than the hard-working actor in question.

When MTV News caught up with Cavill recently as he promoted his upcoming sword-and-sandals flick "Immortals," we asked for his thoughts about the constant attention paid to him and the production, as well as his reaction to the leaked photos.

"I think the best part has been recently when people have sort of seen all the work that has gone into it," Cavill said, speaking to his physical transformation. "I think I won a lot of people over, and I felt the support really come behind me, which is a really good feeling, because when you're doing this all for [the fans], telling a story for them ... you want to do it justice," he said, adding that on the particular day when the shirtless photos were snapped, he was fighting very chilly temperatures and 80 mph winds from a helicopter hovering above him.

"It's wonderful to have all the people online going, 'This is great, this is amazing, I can't wait, thank goodness it's him.' It's wonderful, so thank you to everyone out there," he said, speaking to camera. "I do appreciate it."

What do you think of Cavill's commitment to becoming the Man of Steel? Tell us in the comments!

Kim Kardashian Fans Sad But 'Not Surprised' By Divorce

'Hoping they both can find love again in this crazy world,' one MTV reader says of Kim and Kris Humphries.
By James Dinh

Fans are used to "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" on a weekly basis, so it's only natural that they're sharing their two cents on Kim Kardashian's divorce from basketball player Kris Humphries on Monday (October 31).

Team Kardashian has flooded the comments section of MTV.com, as well as our Facebook and Twitter pages, to dish their thoughts on the 72-day marriage. And with Kim filing for divorce (citing "irreconcilable differences") so soon after their August nuptials, many have been quick to pass judgment on the pair.

However, some fans, like MTV.com user Baby_Girl_2004, have remained hopeful that the Hollywood socialite will one day find her happily ever after. "I'm not one bit surprised about this. I knew it wasn't going to last at all," the reader wrote. "Don't get me wrong she is a beautiful woman but they didn't have that spunk like Khloé and Lamar do. But anyways hope it works out for the best.... good luck Kim."

Facebook user Susan Araujo expressed her disappointment in the sudden news, writing, "Nooooo!!! They made such a great couple. Hoping they both can find love again in this crazy world."

Nakia626 stuck up for the TV darling on Twitter, commending her for keeping a positive attitude."He never seemed like a REAL fit for Kim. Good luck to her, glad she's got her chin up!!" she wrote.

In a statement, Humphries said he is "willing to do whatever it takes to make it work," but there's not too many optimists among the Kardashian spectators. "Not surprised at all," MTV.com reader Phoebe said. "Kim was way too high maintenance for Kris, and Kris was happy living an ordinary life away from celebrity, which clearly Kim doesn't want. This is why it's a good idea to date someone for at least 2 years before getting engaged. Most everything'll come out of the woodwork by then."

Amvanillabean took to the MTV.com comments section, writing, "Not surprised at all. I saw this coming a mile away. I believe that they only got married for content on the show. What else would the show be about? Publicity stunt for sure!"

Bamachic425 wasn't too shocked to learn of the news either, speculating that the Kardashian starlet is "looking so hard to find fast love" to compete with sisters Khloé and Kourtney Kardashian. "She needs to take a step back and see what's best for her."

MTV user Rich offered some humor amid the sad news. "Well, at least she got to return him during the 90-day warranty period," he joked.

It's not just fans who are speaking out on the news, but also Kim's sisters, who took to Twitter to defend their sibling. "Reading some these comments r so hurtful," Khloé tweeted. "Im grateful 4our fans who understand & r being respectful. Hate is disgusting. Love is everything. Thank God for family. We are strong and we will only become closer! I love YOU."

Kourtney also took to Twitter to show support for Kim, writing, "Our sister is going through a difficult time but we're a close family and are sticking together like always. We appreciate everyone's kindness and support. @KimKardashian, we love you."

Michael Jackson Wasn't Killed By Doctor's Propofol Dose, Expert Says

Posted: 31 Oct 2011 05:23 AM PDT

'I don't believe it was a contributing factor,' Dr. Paul White testifies.
By Gil Kaufman

Dr. Conrad Murray
Photo: Pool/ Getty Images

Testimony from the final defense witness resumed Monday (October 31) in the involuntary manslaughter trial of Michael Jackson's former doctor, Conrad Murray. Once again, jurors heard from Dr. Paul White, an expert on the surgical anesthetic propofol, who tried to convince the court last week that Jackson had injected himself with a fatal dose of the drug while Murray was absent. As he did Friday, White also offered that Murray's conduct was unusual and broke protocol but didn't rise to the level of involuntary manslaughter.

The Witness
» Dr. Paul White, propofol expert

Key Testimony
» It was the prosecution's turn to question White on Monday, and the anesthesiologist somewhat reiterated the claims he made to defense attorneys last week, that Murray's method of administering propofol to Jackson in the singer's bedroom was unorthodox at best.

» "Without careful bedside monitoring, it could be dangerous," White said of the treatment Murray gave Jackson in the two months before the pop icon's June 2009 death, according to the Los Angeles Times. Asked if that care could result in death, White said if the propofol IV "came opened up widely ... certainly you could achieve a significant effect that could result in cardiopulmonary arrest." The Los Angeles County Coroner's office determined that Jackson died of acute propofol intoxication, which resulted in cardiac arrest.

» White also conceded to prosecutors that he's never administered propofol in someone's home and had never heard of such a thing being done. When asked if, like Murray, he would have waited 20 minutes to call 911, White said no, but added that many physicians are nervous and anxious in such situations. Prosecutor David Walgren scoffed at that explanation, noting that by his own admission Murray had a cell phone in his hand during the final critical moments of Jackson's life.

» Judge Michael Pastor sent the jury out of the room at one point after becoming exasperated with White's references to details he learned from two "extensive conversations" he had with Murray that are not considered admissible in court. According to HLN, after a second occurrence, Pastor announced in court that White violated his order and threatened a $1,000 sanction if the expert is found in contempt of court. Pastor scheduled a contempt hearing for November.

» Afternoon testimony continued with a few more heated exchanges between Walgren and White over the detailed explanations, graphs and analysis of the amounts of propofol found in Jackson's bloodstream and urine. White stated that he doesn't believe that Murray's dose of propofol caused Jackson's death: "I think that it was extremely unlikely, and I don't believe it was a contributing factor."

» Murray is not expected to take the stand in his defense.

Murray, who was being paid $150,000 a month to care for Jackson, had pleaded not guilty to the felony charge of involuntary manslaughter and is now facing four years in prison. But new sentencing laws in California aimed at mandatorily reducing state prison overcrowding mean that, as a nonviolent offender with no prior record, he could be sentenced to county jail instead. If that is the case, his sentence could be reduced to two years and, because of overcrowding in the Los Angeles County jail, he may be allowed to serve the majority of his time under supervised house arrest.

The case is expected to go to the jury later this week.

The last time we caught up with "Hobbit" actor Luke Evans — who is playing dragon slayer Bard the Bowman in Peter Jackson's two-part big-screen adaptation of the J. R. R. Tolkien classic — he had yet to descend on New Zealand and Jackson's Middle-earth, but he was excited to dig into his meaty new role.

Now, almost three months later, Evans has finally begun work on the highly anticipated film, and when MTV News sat down with him as he promoted the upcoming sword-and-sandals flick "Immortals," he revealed he's become much better acquainted with a bow and arrow and that there's a lot of warm-fuzzy bonding happening between the cast and crew.

"It's been fantastic, the training before we started shooting 'The Hobbit,' " Evans said when we asked how his archery skills were progressing. "I'm fully into it now, and it's great. I'm having a fantastic time. Living in New Zealand, it's like a different world — it is a different world. It's very, very cool."

When asked if there might be any particularly cool scenes or scene partners he's been working with he could tease or talk about, Evans admitted that he's barely scratched the surface of what is scripted for his role.

"The thing is, I've done about 10 percent of what I'm going to be doing, shoot-wise, so I can't really say, but the cast are fantastic. We're so far away from home. We have a little family," he said. "Peter [Jackson] and the team create a very warm atmosphere on set and off set. We all socialize, it's really special. I just feel very lucky to be a part of it."

Does that off-set bonding include group activities like "Hobbit" game nights? "No!" Evans laughed.

With all the waiting and pining we've done for "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1," it's hard to believe that it's only three weeks away!

Lucky for us — and our fellow "Twilight" fans — MTV News is making the wait a little less painful by celebrating the film's release month with tons of exciting exclusives, beginning with "MTV First: Breaking Dawn" Thursday at 7:56 p.m. ET, when Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner will bring us a clip from the movie and sit down for Q&A on MTV.com.

In the meantime, we asked "Twilight" fans to vote for their top five favorite "Twilight Saga" moments, and we're happy to announce the fifth favorite clip: Edward and Jacob's tent scene from "Eclipse."

In this delightfully entertaining scene, Edward (Pattinson) has to suck up his dislike for Jacob (Lautner) and let the werewolf snuggle with Bella (Stewart) in a sleeping bag in order to prevent her from freezing to death. It is a magical moment during which the two rivals share a few words of friendly banter and almost admiration, including the following quotes: "I'm hotter than you," "Can you at least attempt to control your thoughts?" and "If we weren't natural enemies, and you weren't trying to steal my reason for existing, I might actually like you."

In addition to re-watching that scene, there's a great behind-the-scenes interview on the "Eclipse" DVD that features Pattinson and Stewart providing a hilarious bit of commentary about that scene.

"God, he's so gross. So brazen!" Pattinson says in the clip. "I really don't like Jacob."

"Aww," Stewart says.

"Look at him and his tattoo and stuff. Ugh," Pattinson scoffs.

"He's just young and overzealous," Stewart adds, in defense of the young wolf.

"He's not!" Pattinson insists. "He does it on purpose. He's looking at me when he's saying this stuff."

Be sure to tune in to "MTV First: Breaking Dawn - Part 1," which kicks off Thursday, November 3, on MTV at 7:56 p.m, followed by a Q&A with Kristen, Rob and Taylor on MTV.com!

Singer posts a picture of herself dressed up for Halloween with the caption 'It's true — I'm going to be a mummy!'

Jessica Simpson had remained mum on the pregnancy rumors for as long as possible, but on Halloween, decked out in a , the singer confirmed the news.

"It's true — I'm going to be a mummy!" the pun-loving singer posted on her website, displaying for the world her baby bump while all wrapped up in mummy bandages. The link was posted in a tweet that read in all-caps: "!!!ANNOUNCEMENT!!!"

The confirmation comes after weeks of speculation about the singer, who had been seen in several paparazzi shots with what appeared to be an ever-expanding baby bump. Simpson's body has always been a matter of media speculation, but this time it seems she's ending all the rumors by confirming the news and getting in the Halloween spirit.

Photos: Jessica Simpson's budding baby bump.

This is the first child for Simpson and fiancé Eric Johnson. The two got engaged last November and have yet to tie the knot, and it seems that their soon-to-be-expanding family could delay wedding plans a bit longer.

"I definitely see myself having a family with him, so that's exciting to think about," she told People.com about having kids with her beau, a former NFL player.

Simpson — who has dated Tony Romo (also expecting his first child with wife Candice) and John Mayer — was previously married to Nick Lachey. The two famously shared their life as a married couple on the MTV show "Newlyweds" before divorcing in 2005. Lachey recently became a newlywed himself earlier this year when he married longtime love Vanessa Minnillo. When news broke last year of Simpson's engagement, Lachey had only the nicest words for his ex-wife: "I will say the same thing I always say: I wish her the very best."

Simpson and Johnson's baby will be the second grandchild in the Simpson family: Bronx, sister Ashlee and Pete Wentz's baby boy, will have a cousin in the very-near future.

EA Games is gearing up to reboot its super successful video game franchise "Syndicate," and this time it'll be set to a pumped-up electronic dance music soundtrack. Skrillex's remix of the "Syndicate" theme song has already surfaced on the game's Facebook page, and on Tuesday, German electro-house outfit Digitalism's take on the track is set to drop as well.

For the non-gamers, next year's "Syndicate" release is a return to the classic video game series that first emerged in 1993, which allowed players to engage in assassinations and other diabolical adventures — all in an effort to advance their syndicate to the #1 spot. The upcoming 2012 version, due on February 21, will shift the point of view from fixed isometric style to first-person shooter.

And given Digitalism's origins, it seems only fitting the duo would be involved in the project: Jens "Jence" Moelle and Ismail "Isi" Tüfekçi (a.k.a. Digitalism) cite now-classic Commodore 64 video games and French house among their early influences.

" 'Syndicate' is a game classic, which is now being brought back to life," Digitalism told MTV News via email. "For us as electronic music-lovers, who grew up with games and love soundtracks, there was no way around reinterpreting the 'Syndicate' theme!

"So what we did in our WWII bunker [recording] studio was imagine being in the game, creating a fast-paced atmosphere, turning all the compressors up and mixing classic soundtrack elements with techno. We wanted to make sure it sounds dangerous, et voila, here we go."

Fans can download Digitalism's remix of the "Syndicate" theme for free on the game's Facebook page Tuesday. And you can catch Digitalism on the road again soon. After headlining the HARD Festival over the summer, the pair are set to return to the U.S. on a North American tour at the end of November, where they'll showcase cuts from their sophomore album, I Love You, Dude.

Wale Bringing His Ambition To 'RapFix Live'

In February, Wale joined Rick Ross' Maybach Music roster. Since then, the D.C. rapper has been counting down until the release of his sophomore album, Ambition, which drops Tuesday. This Wednesday at 4 p.m. on MTV.com, Wale will sit down with Sway on "RapFix Live" to give fans some insight into his state of mind, 24 hours after the project's official release.

In anticipation of the album's debut, Wale has already rolled out the singles "Slight Work" featuring Big Sean and the title track "Ambition," which features his MMG cohorts Rick Ross and Meek Mill. One of the most buzzed-about collaborations, however, is the Kid Cudi-featured "Focused," which caused a splash thanks to a very public falling-out between the two rappers last year and an equally public reconciliation earlier this year.

"When they kept talking about me and Cudi in every magazine, this is the record I felt like they needed to hear," Wale told MTV News. "The one that everybody was going to get behind, and it was going to go top 40 and not be corny."

During his recent "Road to Release" series on MTV2's "Sucker Free," Wale revealed that he was much more selective about features this time around, including about half the amount of guests who appeared on his debut, Attention: Deficit. "We kept the features to a minimum because I wanted to give you more of me than I did on the previous project," Wale explained.

Attention: Deficit debuted in November 2009 — with features from artists such as Lady Gaga, Bun B and Gucci Mane — to a lukewarm reception. Some of the album's lackluster performance on the charts was attributed to under shipment from Wale's former label Interscope Records.

Not one to be deterred, Wale followed up with the August 2010 mixtape More About Nothing, which became a trending topic on Twitter. This year, he scored a major hit with the single "600 Benz" from Maybach Music's Self-Made Vol. 1 album, and he dropped another popular mixtape The Eleven One Eleven Theory in August.

Tune into "RapFix Live" this week to hear what Wale has to say about his journey to Ambition. Tweet your questions for Wale @MTVNews with the hashtag #RapFixLive.

Kim Kardashian is opening up about why she's divorcing basketball player Kris Humphries just weeks shy of their three-month anniversary.

"After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage. I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision," she told MTV News in a statement. "I had hoped this marriage was forever but sometimes things don't work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best."

While Kim seemed set on moving on with her life without Kris, the basketball player's statement had a completely different tone. "I love my wife and am devastated to learn she filed for divorce," he said to People.com. "I'm committed to this marriage and everything this covenant represents and I'm willing to do whatever it takes to make it work."

The pair got married August 20, and the reality starlet filed for divorce from the basketball star Monday (October 31). The lavish, $10 million California wedding, attended by family and celebrity friends, aired on E! in a two-night special earlier this month, giving fans a taste of their courtship. Kris will also be featured on the upcoming season of "Kourtney & Kim Take New York."

"All of us at E! are surprised and saddened by this news, and we send our support to Kim and Kris at this difficult time," the network said in a statement. "The Kardashians have always been uniquely open with all aspects of their lives from joyous events to intimate moments to heartbreaking transitions. E! will continue to share the fascinating real lives and larger-than-life existence of this close-knit family."

Tick Tock: See Hollywood's Shortest Marriages>>>

The news of the split was reported by TMZ before Ryan Seacrest, who produces Kim's shows on the network, confirmed it. This is the second marriage for Kim, who was previously married to music producer Damon Thomas; they divorced in 2004. In the years between Thomas and Humphries, the reality star has been romantically linked to Ray J (with whom she appeared in a very public sex tape), football player Reggie Bush, football player Miles Austin and Halle Berry's ex, model Gabriel Aubry.

Kardashian and Humphries were married for 72 days before she decided to file for divorce, citing "irreconcilable differences." Court papers released online state that Kardashian requested that the court uphold the prenuptial agreement the two signed before the wedding.

Kris and Kim's marriage will be documented on the second season of "Kourtney & Kim," which kicks off November 27. In previews for the show, fans have gotten a peek at the short-lived marriage. "How am I going to have my career and live in Minnesota?" Kim asks Kris when he suggests they move to his hometown. His response? "Baby, by the time you have kids and they're in school, no one will probably care about you."

'Breaking Dawn' Director Talks Sex Scene 'Adjustment'

'It was more about romance than hot-and-heavy action,' Bill Condon tells MTV News about shooting sex scene for PG-13 rating.
By Amy Wilkinson

Was the first cut of "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" racy enough to be slapped with an R rating?

In the December issue of Glamour UK, star Kristen Stewart revealed that Bella and Edward's feather-strewn sex scene was so saucy that it had to be recut.

"It was so weird, it didn't even feel like we were doing a 'Twilight' film," she recalled to the British mag. "I was like, 'Bella! What are you doing? Wow! What is happening here?!' It was very surreal. We [originally] got rated R. They recut it."

Though director Bill Condon couldn't confirm the R rating when MTV News recently spoke with him on the phone, he did reveal the approach necessary to earn a more teen-friendly PG-13 for the November 18 release.

"It's almost clinical the kind of strict guidelines [the MPAA] have about anything that appears to be — how do I put it delicately?

Can It Still Be Steamy With a PG-13? Predict On Facebook

That appears to be, let's call it thrusting. In fact, you know, it was so much more about romance than it was about hot-and-heavy action, so it was a very kind of simple adjustment to make."

If filming the infamous sex scene was one of the simplest items on Condon's honeymoon to-do list, one of the most difficult was scouting the location: the secluded Isle Esme owned by Carlisle Cullen.

"We went to Brazil where it was at, that felt important to us," he said. "There are very few houses built on the water because it's against the law. So they're mostly built up, so it was hard to find a house that was like that. It took us — wow — we were five hours outside of Rio and then a boat trip of 40 minutes to get to this one island that had the house that we wanted."

It was a good thing Condon was satisfied with the locale seeing as he and the crew spent several unexpected extra hours there.

"We spent four days there and one night, when we had this incredible hurricane and couldn't get off the island," he said. "Eighty of us slept in the house on the floor and in bathtubs. It was incredible."

Florence And The Machine Return With 'Enormous' Ceremonials

Songs on sophomore album 'all came out quite big,' Florence Welch admits.
By James Montgomery, with reporting by Rya Backer

Florence Welch circled the globe in support of Lungs, the breakout debut that transformed her from an unknown Brit into an internationally famous performer, a fashion icon and a rather unwilling superstar.

Of course, along the way, she also managed to pick up a few souvenirs.

"I have some chainmail at home; it's a good look," she laughed. "We got a sword as well, when we were in Glasgow once. There was a sign in a store that said 'Sword Sale, 30 Percent Off.' How could you resist? It was a sale."

We mention all that not because the image of Welch clutching a broadsword is sort of amazing, but to point out the whirlwind two years that followed Lungs' release — and the fact that they were actually tame in comparison to the four years that preceded it. Welch recorded her debut whenever — and wherever — she could, working with a handful of different producers in fits and starts. The reason was largely economic, of course, a problem she didn't face with the follow-up, Ceremonials, out in the U.S. on Tuesday. So when she finally wrapped up promotion behind her first album, she knew exactly where she wanted to record her new one — and who she wanted to do it with.

"The first album, what I learned, for better or for worse, it was done over from the ages of 17-22, with a couple of different producers. Some of it was recorded in an old swimming pool, some of it was recorded in a synagogue — it kind of was all over the place," Welch told MTV News. "And that made it the record it is, but for this one, I was very clear in the idea that I had of wanting to make something that sounded like a whole; so it had to be one producer, one place, one period of time to make it a body of work."

Produced entirely by Paul Epworth (whose work on Adele's 21 is probably playing on a radio near you right now), Welch and the Machine crafted an album that, though all over the place lyrically, is unified by one common theme: an all-encompassing, soul-engorging enormity — one that's large enough to give even Welch pause.

"They're all pretty big," she laughed. "They all came out quite big. I was slightly worried, because I was like, 'All the sounds are enormous on this record.' "

'Harry Potter' Author 'Seriously Considered' Killing Ron Weasley

'Midway through, I started thinking I might polish one of them off,' J.K. Rowling says in DVD special feature.
By Eric Ditzian

It's no secret that a great many fans in the "Harry Potter" community — a whopping 89 percent, according to a wildly popular poll over at MTV Movies Blog — would have preferred that Hermione Granger end up with the boy wizard rather than with good ol' Ron Weasley. Perhaps the same sentiment occurred to author J.K. Rowling, who recently admitted that she almost sent Ron to an early grave.

"Funnily enough, I planned from the start that none of them would die," Rowling told Daniel Radcliffe in a special feature on the "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2" Blu-ray and DVD, according to the U.K.'s Guardian. "Then midway through, which I think is a reflection of the fact that I wasn't in a very happy place, I started thinking I might polish one of them off. Out of sheer spite. 'There, now you definitely can't have him anymore.' But I think in my absolute heart of heart of hearts, although I did seriously consider killing Ron, [I wouldn't have done it]."

Rowling kept this franchise-altering potential story line a secret not only through completion of her "Potter" novels in 2007 but the end of the film series this summer. Now the author says she feels a sense of creative liberation that she can share news of the discarded plot point. "It's a real relief to be able to talk about it all," she said.

The full Rowling-Radcliffe chat will be available on November 11, when the Blu-ray and DVD releases hit shelves. In September, MTV News debuted an exclusive clip from the chat in which Radcliffe compared "Harry Potter" to "Star Wars" and touted the way in which Rowling's characters "exist in the collective consciousness of a generation." That's hardly an exaggeration, and it's difficult to imagine Weasley, played by Rupert Grint in the films, not living on in the imaginations of fans. After all, Weasley finished in second place in our Harry Potter World Cup this summer, a fan-driven effort that attracted over seven million votes and was ultimately won by Alan Rickman's Severus Snape.

For Rowling, Weasley and "Potter" fans, then, any other fate for Ron would be unimaginable. "I'm going to miss the screaming. You don't get that everywhere, and I'm going to miss that definitely," Grint told MTV News at the final film's red-carpet premiere. "I'm really going to miss playing [Ron] in these films."

Tyga And Drake's 'Still Got It' Video Will Be 'Fly'

Tyga is still putting the finishing touches on his Young Money debut, Careless World, but now, he's less focused on finalizing the track list than getting his timing right. Because, from the sound of things, there's no shortage of material for him to choose from.

"I have productions from Cool & Dre, Pharrell; I actually produced a lot with my in-house producer, Jess Jackson," Tyga told MTV News backstage at Philadelphia's Powerhouse 2011 on Friday. "As an artist, you just know what you want to hear; it's just better to make your own sound rather than try to find a sound and add a story to it."

And despite all that, Tyga knows what's up next: shooting a video for "Still Got It," his collaboration with Drake that appeared earlier this month. But as is the case with most things these days, he's already thinking about his next move too. It's sort of an embarrassment of riches, actually.

"We're about to shoot that ['Still Got It'] video next week with Drake, and I've got another single I'm going to drop after that, with Nicki [Minaj]," he laughed. "I have a lot of good singles right now, it's just about timing."

So while he's very much looking toward the future, we had to ask Tyga about the present too — namely, that video with Drake. So what can fans expect from the clip? Well, he wasn't about to reveal all the secrets, but Tyga did say it will reflect his Young Money status by being "young and fly."

"I want to shoot it in New York ... in Harlem, because that's just the young, fly place to be in New York," he said. "I don't want to give [the plot] away, but you know, it's going to be young and fly, you feel me?"

Kim Kardashian Files For Divorce

Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries said "I do" in an elaborate, very public ceremony over the summer, and now comes word that the reality starlet and her basketball player hubby are calling it quits just 72 days after tying the knot.

Kim filed for divorce from Humphries on Monday (October 31), coincidentally the scariest day of the year. Sources told the site that Kim is not seeking an annulment and cites "irreconcilable differences" as the cause for the split.

"After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage. I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision," Kardashian told MTV News in a statement. "I had hoped this marriage was forever but sometimes things don't work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best."

The couple reportedly have a prenuptial agreement and celebrity lawyer Laura Wasser has been tapped to represent Kardashian. According to TMZ, the pair's $10 million wedding cost approximately $138,888 a day as of October 31. A rep for Kim had not responded to MTV News' request for comment as of press time.

However, Ryan Secreast, who produces the reality star's E! shows, confirmed the news on Twitter, writing, "Yes @kimkardashian is filing for divorce this morning. I touched base with her, getting a statement in just a few mins."

The news comes as several tabloids have been reporting on Kim and Kris' marital woes. Kardashian and NBA player Humphries married on August 20 in California in a lavish ceremony in front of friends, family and E! cameras. "The dresses were so gorgeous, and watching those beautiful girls walk down the aisle ... they are absolutely stunning," guest Julianne Hough gushed to MTV News after the ceremony. "To just see them walking down the aisle was just beautiful. And then little Mason, Kourtney's little boy, he kind of stole the show."

Tick Tock: See Hollywood's Shortest Marriages>>>

The beginning of Kris and Kim's marriage will be documented on the second season of "Kourtney & Kim Take New York," which kicks off on November 27. In previews for the show, fans have gotten a peek at the short-lived marriage. "How am I going to have my career and live in Minnesota?" Kim asks Kris when he suggests they move to his hometown. His response? "Baby, by the time you have kids and they're in school, no one will probably care about you."

'Dark Knight Rises' Takes Over Manhattan in New Set Photos

Batman makes an appearance in the cockpit of the Batwing in new pics.

Batman has returned to Gotham — New York City, that is — to film scenes from "The Dark Knight Rises" and he arrived in style. More set photos hit the Web on Monday (October 31), mostly depicting the same scenes featured in online images from last week, but with one big change. (Fans should be forewarned: there are spoilers ahead.)

For photos from the set, click here.

In one of the pictures published last week, Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character, a beat cop named John Blake, escorts Christian Bale's Batman, who's dressed in business attire; in another, the beat cop fires a gun at some fleeing bikers. Gordon-Levitt's character has been the center of much discussion about the "Rises" plot and who the character may end up being. One rumor that continues to circulate is that John Blake may end up being Robin, the Boy Wonder, something Gordon-Levitt has remained quiet about.

The latest crop of pictures follows what is presumably the same scene but further along in the action. The riders on the motocross bikes are still driving away and jumping over cop cars, but this time the Batwing is visible. Although the Batwing has been featured in dozens of leaked set photos, the pictures posted by a user to the Superhero Hype forum are particularly interesting because they clearly show Batman in the cockpit. If that wasn't enough, he seems to be hovering above a large explosive device in the middle of the street.

It's unclear who ends up on the back of the motorcycles or what they're doing on them. Matthew Modine was on set, but there are conflicting reports on what role his character, Nixon, is playing and whether it was actually Modine's stunt double on the back of the bike.

Last week, it was rumored Madge had plans to work with M.I.A. and Nicki Minaj, and now producer William Orbit has some more news for the singer's most loyal devotees.

"Madonna has phenomenal understanding of both the minutiae of music and the big picture. Zooming in, zooming out. 4ever amazing. Plus VISION!!!" he tweeted. "Working with Madonna is a treat. Fantastic tracks and vibes. Going deep. She's ON IT !!! This is THE album!"

The Ray of Light producer's tweets even reveal where the two have been cooking up tracks for the record. "WOWOWOWOW just looked out the window here in NY and IT's SNOWING !!!!!" he wrote. "A Fairy Tale in New York but Hot Hot Hot in the studioooooo."

At the London screening for her film "W.E.," Madonna spoke to Sky News about the top-secret project, addressing the nature of her celebrity and how it relates to her art. "Even when I try something old [I get criticized]. When I make my music, I come up against criticism," she said. "So it kind of goes with the territory. I'm used to it."
