Robert Pattinson Calls Taylor Lautner Ab Comparison 'Unfair'

'I realized [my abs] weren't as good as Taylor's, so I just ate every bit of chocolate,' Pattinson laughs during 'MTV First.'

Much ado is made over the handsomeness of the leading men of "Twilight" — Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner — particularly when it comes to the subject of their being shirtless in any way, shape or form.

Their fervent fans know from reading Stephenie Meyer's books and seeing the first two trailers that there is plenty of shirtlessness in store for them when "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn- Part 1" opens November 18.

MTV News was lucky enough to sit down with the two heartthrobs during "MTV First: Breaking Dawn" on Thursday, during which we asked a fan-submitted question about how they prep for their shirtless scenes.

"No M&M's," said Kristen Stewart, who was seated between her co-stars.

"Yeah, I didn't eat any candy and I didn't drink any beer for a while," Pattinson said of his health-conscious prep. "I went kind of nuts. Me and Kristen went nuts working out, because we hadn't worked out for any of [the previous films]," he admitted.

Then, upon noticing that his shirtless photo was being held up next to Lautner's, RPattz took offense in the comparison. "This is so unfair doing a comparison. Everyone says I painted on my abs in ['New Moon'] — I did not! Taylor has his painted on too!" he accused with a laugh.

"What?" Lautner responded. "What are you talking about? I don't understand this."

Pattinson stopped his playful ribbing of Lautner for a moment to finish answering the question about his diet before shirtless scenes are filmed.

"I had it for, like, two weeks," he said of his abs, with Stewart agreeing and adding that they gave up being healthy immediately after their skin-showing scenes were wrapped.

"As soon as I didn't have to be shirtless anymore [my good habits were] gone immediately," Pattinson continued. "During [filming in] Brazil, the day before I had to do my shirtless scene, I realized [my abs] weren't as good as Taylor's, so I just ate every bit of chocolate in the mini-bar. I started eating cheeseburgers and stuff."

Michael Jackson's Inner Circle: Where Are They Now?

Posted: 04 Nov 2011 02:53 AM PDT

Jackson's dermatologist, director and children have moved on as Dr. Conrad Murray is tried for involuntary manslaughter.

For months after Michael Jackson's death, his inner circle became headline news. From his dermatologist and his assistant to the heads of the concert promotions firm that was mounting the This Is It Tour, his estate executors and Jackson's mother, even casual Jackson fans knew more about those in his orbit than ever before.

Many of those names were front and center during the six-week involuntary manslaughter trial of Jackson's doctor, Conrad Murray. With closing arguments completed Thursday and the verdict looming, we take a look at where those players are now:

Arnold Klein
MJ's longtime dermatologist was the subject of endless rumors in the wake of his most famous patient's death, including allegations that he might have been the sperm donor for one or more of the singer's children. His name was back in headlines during the second week of the prosecution's case, when it emerged that in a June 27, 2009, interview with police, Murray told investigators Klein was one of the doctors who regularly prescribed drugs to the pop icon behind the cardiologist's back. TMZ reported that MJ's production team often complained about the star's visits to Klein's office, saying his worst days on set were often after those trips. Klein, whose client list has included Elizabeth Taylor and Dolly Parton, continues to practice, but the dermatologist said the constant negative online chatter has hurt his feelings and reputation. "I don't like to be called a bad doctor," he said in early October.

Kenny Ortega
The longtime Jackson friend and choreographer has moved on from his role as director and choreographer for This Is It (and the blockbuster posthumous documentary) and is now working on a big-screen adaptation of the Broadway hit musical "In the Heights" and a remake of "Dirty Dancing," both of which he will direct.

AEG Live
The mega-promoter has barely been a story in the Murray trial after making lots of headlines in the wake of Jackson's death. It has marched forward with some of the biggest tours of the past two years by the likes of Taylor Swift, Bon Jovi, Justin Bieber, Paul McCartney and Carrie Underwood.

Katherine Jackson
MJ's 81-year-old mother was living her quiet life when she was suddenly thrust into the spotlight in the wake of the custody battle over Jackson's three young children. She reached a custody agreement with the mother of the two eldest children (Prince Michael and Paris Michael) and has been raising them ever since. And, unlike their sheltered (literally shrouded) lives under their father's care, Katherine Jackson has allowed the children to be a bit more public, helping them celebrate their father's legacy with fans.

John Branca and John McClain
Jackson's two confidants, attorney Branca and music exec McClain, were named executors of the icon's estate in the months after his death. In their role, the two men have deftly turned around the Jackson estate's foundering fortunes, helping to wipe out much of the hundreds of millions in debts that Jackson owed at the time of his death and raking in more than $300 million to date.

Prince Michael, Paris and "Blanket"
During his lifetime, Jackson's three children were fiercely kept from the spotlight by their doting dad, who would often put masks or scarves on their faces to avoid having them in tabloid reports. Paris famously eulogized her father at his funeral, and since his death, all three have been pictured in the press attending public events, conducted interviews and appeared at the recent tribute concert to their pop in Wales.

Kim Kardashian To Zooey Deschanel: Anatomy Of A Celebrity Breakup

Posted: 04 Nov 2011 02:53 AM PDT

Experts weigh in on this week's high-profile breakups.
By Jocelyn Vena

It was a big week for celebrity news. It was an even bigger week for those who follow the life of Kim Kardashian. When news broke that she had filed for divorce from her hubby of 72 days, Kris Humphries, it seemed like the world stopped for all things Kardashian.

As the news cycle works to keep up with Kardashian and her bombshell announcement, the way in which it all shook out — from the rumors to the revelation about the dissolution of her relationship — seems to fit some sort of celebrity breakup template.

First there was the tabloid chatter, then the announcement, then Kim addressed it in a blog statement, then her mom/manager spoke out on her behalf and Kim touched on it in an Australian radio interview before elaborating just a bit more on a morning news program.

While it all seems very much in the vein of some celebrity PR handbook, Howard Bragman, vice chairman of Reputation.com, noted that it's actually not that contrived. "They are all different. There is no one particular [plan]. That's not the way it works," he explained to MTV News. "Every relationship is different and everyone has to announce it and handle it differently for different reasons."

He did say, however, that "there's usually a trigger." For Kim and Kris, it was several sightings of the pair separated and ringless that sparked the debate. "It may be a report to a media outlet; it may be the divorce option; it may be seeing somebody without their wedding ring; it may be dating somebody else," Bragman said. "But every couple has a different DNA."

Once those reports did surface, the Kardashian camp was already working toward the next step, according to David Caplan, former editor at People and Star magazines. "When that seed was planted, I'm sure Kim's camp was already on alert that the stories were going to increase," he explained. "At the time, it was unclear that the stories were true. When these stories come out that appear to be true, it actually puts the PR team in a bit of a crisis to a certain degree because you never want to give validity to tabloid stories."

Believe it or not, Kim isn't the only celebrity who announced her divorce this week. "New Girl" star Zooey Deschanel and Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard also announced their breakup. So, was it a good week to bury their bad news?

"I feel Zooey occupies such a different world in the celebrity realm that I don't know if that would even be intentional, even if there was no Kim announcement this week," Caplan noted.

"It's a similar story, but they don't occupy the same celebrity realm. But I think someone who got the short end of the stick and maybe she did that intentionally, but I don't think so, is Jessica Simpson announcing her pregnancy the same day. But it seems like Jessica was going to do it regardless on Halloween, just given how she did it. It's not so much the story, but the celebrity in question."

How much PR planning do you think is involved in celebrity breakup announcements? Tell us in the comments.

'Breaking Dawn' Sex Scene 'Super Serious,' Robert Pattinson Jokes

Of all the moments fans are eagerly awaiting to see after "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" hits theaters on November 18 — the wedding and infamous birth scene included — few can measure up to the hype surrounding Edward and Bella's first sex scene.

When MTV News' Josh Horowitz sat down with Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner for "MTV First" and asked the cast questions submitted via Twitter, it was no surprise that the fans wanted to know more. One of the first questions asked was: "Rob and Kristen, was it extremely awkward filming the love scene in the movie? Were you guys laughing a lot throughout?"

Both Stewart and Pattinson turned quiet after hearing the question, and the answer was unanimous and definitely a joke. "Super serious," Pattinson said.

"Yeah, me too," Stewart agreed. The mood was certainly lighthearted and jokey, but Stewart ended up giving the question a serious answer. "Not to give anything away ... You've been working for so long, and it's also not real," Stewart said. "It's not just human sex. It's ... obviously blown a little bit out of proportion, slightly. It's kind of like the most important scene in the movie. It's so weird."

Pattinson agreed and shared his own, let's say, intimate experiences filming the love scene. "I just ended up thinking purely about vanity things," Pattinson said. "You're sitting there in a little g-string. ... They give me a big g-string, but it was too small for me. It was like old ham."

Not to be left out, Lautner shared his relief to have missed out on a g-stringing in "Breaking Dawn," but reminded everyone that he had his "fair share of g-strings in 'Eclipse.' "

'X Factor' Drops Tween Supergroup InTENsity

Another of Paula Abdul's groups, Stereo Hogzz, joins 10-person collective in the bottom two.

It was a tough night for Paula Abdul's team on Thursday's (November 3) results episode of "The X Factor," as two of her groups — Stereo Hogzz and InTENsity — were forced to sing for their lives after earning the lowest number of votes following Wednesday's performance episode.

In the end, InTENsity was shown the "X Factor" door, leaving Stereo Hogzz to fight another day in the competition.

Unlike "American Idol," results on "The X Factor" are not based strictly on viewer votes. The two competitors with the lowest vote totals are asked to sing one final song, with the judges ultimately deciding who goes home.

In their big showdown, Houston fivesome Stereo Hogzz tackled Samantha Sang's 1977 hit "Emotion," which was later popularized by Destiny's Child, while InTENsity — the group cobbled together by the judges from 10 eliminated individual singers — took on Kelly Clarkson's "My Life Would Suck Without You."

InTENsity was voted off by a 3-1 vote, with Simon Cowell the lone vote for InTENsity to stay. His vote against Stereo Hoggz came just 24 hours after he said of their performance, "I don't think there's a band in the world right now who are as good as you."

InTENsity's Wednesday mash-up of "Kids in America" and "Party Rock Anthem" earned them high marks from the judges, with L.A. Reid calling the performance "fun, fun, fun" and Nicole Scherzinger dubbing it, "fun-tastic" and "fun-nomenal." Cowell called the performance terrific while Abdul pledged that she was proud of her group.

As Thursday's show rushed toward its finish, no one from InTENsity commented on the group's ouster, with host Steve Jones describing them as "inconsolable" while he threw to the season premiere of "Bones."

Had the judges landed on a 2-2 tie, the act with the lowest number of viewer votes would have been kicked off the show.

Thursday also featured a performance from Outasight, who performed his single "Tonight is the Night," while the top 12 opened the show with a group take on David Guetta's "Without You."

For all the "Twilight" fans out there — and, more specifically, the prone-to-swoon hopeless romantics — one of the most anticipated moments in "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" is the wedding of Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson).

Fans have been buzzing about it for as long as we can remember, and on Thursday (November 3) — thanks to our exclusive "MTV First: Breaking Dawn" with Stewart, Pattinson and Taylor Lautner — we got another sneak peek at how sweet, emotional and beautiful those nuptials are going to be when we finally see them on the big screen, when the film opens November 18.

Our clip opens with Bella's mother Renee (Sarah Clarke) entering the room in which Alice (Ashley Greene) and Rosalie (Nikki Reed) are helping Bella get ready for her wedding day. "Oh my gosh, you're so beautiful," Mom says when she sees Bella, who is still in casual clothes but has her hair and makeup finished.

"Oh, honey — crap, my mascara!" Renee exclaims, at which point Alice hands her a tissue. "Thanks," she says, dabbing at her eyes. "Charlie, get in here!" she calls to Bella's father (played by Billy Burke).

Charlie pops his head into the frame tentatively. "You sure?" he asks, then walks slowly into the room, at which point Bella — seeing her dad all dolled up in a tuxedo — is so surprised she stands up out of her chair.

"I know," he says, seeing her reaction. "I look hot."

"We thought you needed something blue," Renee says to Bella as Charlie opens a jewelry case to reveal a jewel-encrusted decorative hair comb.

"And something old," Charlie adds. "Besides your mother," he jokes.

"Thanks," Renee scoffs.

"It was Grandma Swan's," Charlie tells Bella.

"But we added the sapphires," Renee adds as Bella picks up the comb for a closer look.

"It's beautiful, you guys," Bella says, handing the comb to Alice to put in her hair. "Wow. Thank you so much."

"It's your first family heirloom," Renee says. "You can pass it on to your daughter and her daughter," she adds, tearing up and dabbing her eyes, and the scene fades to black.

Michael Jackson Doctor's Trial Goes To Jury

Posted: 03 Nov 2011 04:54 AM PDT

Lawyers reiterate their cases in closing arguments before jury deliberations begin Friday.
By Gil Kaufman and Kara Warner

Following 22 days of testimony from 49 witnesses, the closing arguments were presented Thursday (November 3) in the involuntary manslaughter trial of former Michael Jackson doctor Conrad Murray.

Nearly six weeks after he kicked off the trial with a headline-grabbing image of an emaciated Jackson on a gurney following his death in June 2009, Deputy District Attorney David Walgren was first up with his closing argument. Walgren told jurors the evidence in the case was overwhelming and Murray's actions directly led to Jackson's death from an overdose of the surgical anesthetic propofol.

"The evidence in this case is abundantly clear ... that Conrad Murray caused the death of Michael Jackson, that Conrad Murray left Prince, Paris and Blanket without a father," Walgren said of the late pop singer's three children. The DA reminded jurors that a number of medical experts called to the stand by both prosecutors and the defense said physicians had a legal and ethical obligation to deny a patient's request to provide medical treatment that could end up harming them.

Returning to an argument the prosecution had made all along about Murray's alleged motives for giving chronic insomniac the anesthetic, Walgren said, "Conrad Murray sought payment for services rendered, the services rendered being the provision of propofol. ... Michael Jackson trusted Conrad Murray. But Conrad Murray corrupted that relationship, and for that, Michael Jackson paid with his life."

Walgren said the evidence against Murray was "overwhelming," stating that his guilt in the matter is "abundantly clear" and that testimony from defense anesthesiology expert Dr. Paul White that blamed Jackson for giving himself fatal doses of several drugs was "junk science."

The prosecutor also reminded jurors about how they heard that Murray was speaking to one of his ex-girlfriends, cocktail waitress Sade Anding, when he realized Jackson had stopped breathing, proof that the physician was not properly monitoring the singer's health.

"Was Conrad Murray in another room? Did Michael Jackson yell out for help? Did he gasp?" Walgren asked. "Did he choke? Were there sounds? We don't know, and we'll never know because of the neglect and negligence of Conrad Murray."

Then it was defense attorney Ed Chernoff's turn to present his closing argument, which included a detailed breakdown of the prosecution's key witnesses and why their collective testimony "can't prove [Murray committed] a crime, and they really need to prove a crime," Chernoff told the jury.

Chernoff first attempted to discredit the testimony of Michael Jackson's bodyguard Alberto Alvarez. He said it didn't make sense that Murray would ask Alvarez to hide evidence since the two barely knew each other and that none of his fingerprints were found on the allegedly hidden evidence. The defense then went after the L.A. County coroner's investigator for not taking proper notes and photos, as well as not providing a proper chronology. Chernoff emphasized that out of the evidence discovered in Jackson's bedroom, none of the tubing found had propofol in it. Chernoff also accused prosecution expert Dr. Shafer of having a biased agenda and that his simulations had nothing to do with the case.

Chernoff told the jury there are two reasonable scenarios for Jackson's death and that is the reason they should acquit. "What the [prosecution] is really asking you to do is convict Dr. Murray for the actions of Michael Jackson. Somebody has got to tell the truth. If it were anyone else other than Michael Jackson, would the doctor be here today?" he asked, reminding them that Murray's other patients valued and appreciated the doctor's care. Chernoff claimed Murray only wanted to help Jackson. "He was a little fish in a big dirty pond," he said.

Furthermore, Chernoff defended Murray not immediately calling 911 because he was trying to save Jackson's life and that his attempts at CPR did not work. Chernoff cautioned the jury that there is a tremendous desire to paint Murray as the perfect villain, but that there is "no perfect villain or perfect victim." Chernoff agreed that administering propofol in a home setting may be inappropriate but emphasized the fact that Murray never gave Jackson any illegal drugs or substances. He also asked that the jury not hold Murray responsible just because the victim was Michael Jackson.

Prosecutor Walgren then took over to present the final closing arguments in the case. He reiterated that if Murray had used the proper monitoring devices or administered proper resuscitation or had not left the room, Jackson's death "wouldn't have happened."

"We cannot prove exactly what happened behind closed doors," Walgren said. "Michael Jackson could give answers, but he's dead."

Walgren reminded the jury that they know Jackson died from acute propofol intoxication and that Murray had plenty of opportunities to prevent it.

"Actions speak far louder than words," he said. "At the end of the day, the issue is not that complicated. Murray was conducting a pharmaceutical experiment in a bedroom. I ask you return with a verdict of guilty on the count of involuntary manslaughter based on his actions alone."

Judge Michael Pastor earlier instructed jurors that they had two theories they could rely on to find Murray guilty: If they believe he committed an illegal act by providing the propofol to Jackson in a negligent way, or if they believe he failed to perform his legal duty as a doctor by acting in a reckless manner that created a high risk of death.

The seven-man, five-woman jury has to unanimously agree on one or the other theory. In addition to considering the testimony of medical experts who have divergent opinions on the level of care provided by Murray, Pastor asked the jury to weigh the testimony of character witnesses who attested to the physician's generosity when weighing the verdict.

The judge's instructions were given in a standing-room-only courtroom that included several members of Jackson's family, including his parents and siblings LaToya and Randy.

Jury deliberation will begin Friday and, if convicted, Murray could face four years in prison and the loss of his medical license.

Michael Jackson Doctor's Trial: A Timeline

Prosecutors took their time bringing Conrad Murray to trial for involuntary manslaughter.
By Gil Kaufman

Photo: Getty Images

It's hard to believe that nearly 2 1/2 years have passed since Michael Jackson's death. But, because the wheels of justice grind especially slowly when it comes to celebrity trials, we are just now on the cusp of a verdict in the involuntary manslaughter case of Jackson's doctor, Conrad Murray.

Murray, the Texas cardiologist handpicked by Jackson to be his personal physician in the lead-up to the pop icon's 2009 This Is It comeback shows, spent three weeks listening to prosecutors disparage his treatment of Jackson in the hours before the singer's death. But his path to infamy began years before that fateful June 25, 2009, morning when he called Jackson's assistant in a panic.

The pair first met in 2006, when Jackson was living in Las Vegas — where Murray has a clinic — and called the doctor seeking treatment for one of his children. They became friendly, and Jackson turned to Murray in early 2009 when he was attempting to get into fighting shape to launch his first major concert series in more than a decade. Jackson, then 50, agreed to pay Murray $150,000 a month to serve as his personal physician before and during the 50-date engagement at the O2 arena in London.

Here's a timeline of Murray's trial:

One week before Jackson's death: Murray and members of the AEG Live team promoting the concert meet to discuss Jackson's fitness for the shows, and Murray allegedly says the singer is ready and healthy.

June 24, 2009: Jackson, who reportedly suffered from insomnia, returns from a rehearsal late at night and attempts to fall asleep.

June 25, 2009: Unable to sleep, Jackson asks Murray to give him a series of doses of the surgical anesthetic propofol and other sedatives in order to get to sleep. After hours of fitful sleep, Jackson goes into cardiac arrest, and Murray scrambles to try to save his client's life, waiting more than 30 minutes to call 911.

June 27, 2009: Murray and his lawyer voluntarily speak to police investigators for more than two hours and lay out the events of the morning Jackson died. This interview will become one of the key pieces of evidence in the prosecution's case.

July 17, 2009: Los Angeles District Attorney's office announces it is treating Jackson's death as a homicide.

July 23, 2009: Investigators file for a search warrant for Murray's property.

July 29, 2009 : Los Angeles police and DEA agents cart away several plastic bins and manila envelopes of evidence from Murray's home in Las Vegas.

November 20, 2009: Search-warrant records show that investigators found receipts in Murray's Las Vegas clinic for purchases of propofol in May 2009.

January 7, 2010: Los Angeles coroner's office announces that Jackson's official cause of death is "acute propofol intoxication" and his death is ruled a homicide. The report also shows a number of other sedatives in Jackson's system at the time of his death.

February 8, 2010: Murray pleads not guilty to involuntary manslaughter charges and is released on $75,000 bail after turning himself in to authorities.

June 14, 2010: A judge denies a request from the California Medical Board to strip Murray of his California medical license.

November 30, 2010: Michael's father, Joseph, refiles his wrongful-death lawsuit against Murray and the Las Vegas pharmacy that sold the physician propofol.

January 25, 2011: Murray pleads not guilty to a single charge of involuntary manslaughter and his trial date is set for March 28.

March 24, 2011: Jury selection in the trial begins with a pool of more than 300 potential jurors.

April 29, 2011: The trial is delayed until September at the request of Murray's legal team, citing more time needed to line up defense experts.

September 23, 2011: The jury for the trial is seated.

September 27-30, 2011: The trial begins with opening statements that include a recording from Murray's cell phone in which Jackson's voice is slurred and lethargic. The first four days of testimony detail the chaotic scene after Jackson's death, a security guard describing Murray's request to put vials of propofol in a bag and testimony from two emergency room technicians about what Murray told them when Jackson arrived at UCLA hospital.

October 3-7, 2011: ER doctors explain that Murray never told them he'd administered propofol to Jackson and a string of Murray's former and current girlfriends testify about the calls the doctor made to them in the hours and minutes before and after Jackson's death. The jury hears more of the Jackson recording, including his desire to build a children's hospital and the fateful recording of Murray's two-hour talk with investigators.

October 10-12, 2011: Jurors hear from medical experts who claim Murray was not prepared to give proper care to Jackson and did not follow protocol when his patient went into distress.

October 21, 2011: The prosecution wraps up its case with testimony from propofol expert Dr. Steven Shafer, who lays out 17 mistakes he believes Murray made in his care for Jackson.

October 24-28, 2011: Murray's defense team calls witnesses to discuss the 911 call placed by the doctor and LAPD detectives to refute statements made by Jackson's bodyguard about Murray allegedly hiding evidence.

October 31-November 1, 2011: Murray's defense team continues questioning its final expert, propofol expert Dr. Paul White, who suggested that Jackson had injected himself with the drug while the doctor was not in the room. White admitted that Murray's medical care for Jackson was out of the ordinary.

November 3, 2011: Closing arguments begin.

Wale's Journey From <i>Attention Deficit</i> To <i>Ambition</i>

'I had to redefine the hustle. I had to put it all into it,' MC tells 'RapFix Live.'

Ambition may only be Wale's second album, but his latest release has him feeling like a new man. When he appeared on Wednesday's "RapFix Live," the D.C. rapper explained the difference between his new Maybach Music album, distributed by Warner Bros., and his 2009 Allido/Interscope Records debut, Attention Deficit.

"My mental state, just being around my friends [for] this album and being happier," Wale said of the chief differences. "I can call anybody at Warner Bros. whenever I want at any given time; from [the] president to A&R to the mailroom, I can call 'em."

Aside from the support that he gets from his parent label, Wale is also reenergized thanks to the love he gets from his MMG fam. "That's a lot, that reassurance that your team really believes in you. I could talk to Gucci Pucci or Rozay or [Roc Nation's] Rich [Kleinman], or everybody that I have in my life in business at any time."

With Attention Deficit, Wale established himself with radio records like "Pretty Girls" and the Lady Gaga-assisted "Chillin'," but the album was a considerable commercial failure. For his second go-round, the MC has taken all that he learned and applied it to what he has consistently referred to as a classic body of work in Ambition. "I paid a certain amount of dues in the game, with radio and all that stuff, I understand a lot of that. I understand how to make that all work in a day. Hopefully the results will show," he said.

It's more than having a developed business sense, however. Wale claims to now be working harder than ever. He no longer holds on to the spoils of the game and doesn't even have a home to call his own anymore.

"I sacrifice everything. I got rid of my crib; I don't live anywhere right now. Right now, technically, I don't live anywhere," he said. "I had to redefine the hustle. I had to put it all into it."

Justin Bieber may not have visited the "X Factor" set this week, but that doesn't mean the contestants didn't contract a serious case of Bieber Fever.

On Tuesday night, Bieber did make his way to "Dancing With the Stars," which shares a lot with the reality singing competition, and a handful of the "X Factor" top 12 hoped to see the teen star. One of those obsessed few included Drew, who has been a Belieber since day one of the "X Factor."

"We love him so much," Drew told MTV News backstage — a long way from her first audition, where she proclaimed her Bieber love.

She wasn't the only member of Team Simon going crazy for Bieber: Fellow fan Rachel Crow, who got some rave reviews on the show this week, was also hoping to get some face time with the singer, who has been making the promo rounds for his new holiday album, Under the Mistletoe.

"We love Justin Bieber, but we didn't get to meet him," Rachel recalled. "People were trying so hard, like, 'Why can't we get Justin here?' I got to take a picture in front of his car, though."

And it wasn't just any car. "It was so cool!" Rachel gushed. "Isn't it awesome? It's bejeweled! I want to meet him so bad," she added, before explaining just why they couldn't make it happen. "They made up an excuse about how they were competing shows. [I was] so upset."

Drew and Rachel are definitely not alone on the "X Factor" set. One of the members of InTENsity has this message for the ladies: "I can honestly say that I am more obsessed with Justin Bieber than Drew is," Emily Michalak said. "I can honestly say so. Just because they aired on TV that she's obsessed doesn't mean that I'm not."

Britney Spears may be the leading lady on the Femme Fatale Tour, but that doesn't mean she doesn't want to bring some guys along for the ride.

Next up, Backstreet Boy Howie D is slated to hit the road with Spears, following in the footsteps of DJ Pauly D and Joe Jonas. The South American tour dates — which kick off November 20, days after Howie releases his solo album Back to Me — were an enticing offer to the pop singer.

"I embraced it with open arms," he told MTV News of the trek, which ends November 28. "She's such a great, talented person. We've known each other for many, many years."

He isn't lying: Howie and Britney grew up together in the industry, with the Backstreet Boys and Spears two of the figureheads of the late-'90s pop revival. Howie said they're rooted in the same place, which will lend itself nicely to touring together.

"We kind of came out of the same camp, out of the Orlando pop scene with us and 'NSYNC and Britney," he recalled. "I feel like we've all grown together and have very similar, parallel lives with us and our music, [with] certain moments being very, very hot, certain moments not, and just riding the wave up and down as it's going. Even [with our] personal lives, having families, having kids. I have a huge respect for her, not only as an artist, but as a person. It's good to be around people you've known and people you've grown up with."

So what keeps people coming back for more from the likes of Howie and Britney? He has a theory: "It's a test of good music being out there," he said. "We really take pride in making good records, timeless records, and being true to our craft and trying to give our fans what they want ... trying to constantly take each record to the next level, push the envelope."

Do you want Howie to tour with Britney in the States? Let us know in the comments!

Rap producer Shawty Redd can now put his legal troubles behind him. MTV News learned exclusively from Redd's attorney Ashutosh Joshi on Thursday (November 3) that the Atlanta hitmaker has been found not guilty of murder, as well as lesser charges he was hit with after the fatal 2010 New Year's Day shooting of Damon Martin.

The bench trial, which began Monday, was decided by a judge without a jury and concluded Wednesday. On Thursday, Judge Wade Crumbly cleared the "Who Dat" producer (real name: Demetrius Lee Stewart) on all charges relating to Martin's death.

Redd was arrested January 1, 2010, after police responded to a call about an early morning shooting at Stewart's home in Hampton, Georgia. According to police, the producer was involved in a physical altercation at his home with Martin, who was described as an "acquaintance." The confrontation turned physical and Stewart shot and killed Martin, according to the report. Stewart himself called 911 to alert police about the shooting and was arrested a few hours later.

"The defense [in the trial] was clearly self-defense," Joshi told MTV News. "We argued that Redd's life was threatened both verbally and physically, and this occurred in his home and that he shot this gentleman as a result of that."

Shawty Redd got his start producing a number of underground tracks for Young Jeezy, as well as six tracks from his platinum debut Let's Get It: Thug Motivation 101. He got the most attention working with Snopp Dogg on his 2008 single "Sexual Eruption" and has also worked with Gucci Mane, Pusha T and Rick Ross.

Kelly Clarkson 'Stalking' Adele For A Duet

'I've been trying to sing with her for a while,' Clarkson tells MTV News.
By Christina Garibaldi

Kelly Clarkson doesn't mind a little friendly competition.

The former "American Idol" winner recently told MTV News she didn't care if Coldplay "killed" her on the Billboard albums chart (her latest, Stronger, came in second, selling 163,000 to Mylo Xyloto's 447,000). Clarkson might not give a second thought to chart placement, but what does she think about all these other pop divas who have taken over the airwaves?

"I always think it's healthy to have a lot of stuff out there, and there's room for everybody, because everybody is so different, especially all the women right now in the industry," Clarkson told MTV News. "We're all very different from each other, which I think is good. It keeps it not boring."

We have to agree: The "Mr. Know It All" singer is anything but boring, recently telling the U.K.'s Guardian: "I want to punch Adele in the face! She is just too good."

Of course, she was kidding. "That's a term of endearment for me," Clarkson laughed. "I think maybe overseas that didn't read well. I meant more to be funny. She's just so talented; she's just so ridiculous it's upsetting."

Adele — who, like Clarkson, is known for her emotional songs about love and heartbreak — is set to undergo surgery to treat her vocal issues, but when she recovers, we have an idea who might want to work with her.

"I'm stalking her currently through interviews. Every interview, they are like, 'Who do you want to work with?' 'Adele! I want to do a duet with Adele!' " Clarkson said. "I've been stalking her since we did '[VH1] Divas' together, actually, and we were supposed to sing together, and then they changed the concept to where we would sing with somebody from a different generation. That was actually really cool, because I got to sing with Melissa Etheridge, and she's amazing. That wasn't like a letdown or anything, but I've been trying to sing with [Adele] for a while."

Clarkson will be returning to the "VH1 Divas" alongside Mary J. Blige, Jill Scott, Florence and the Machine, Jessie J and Jennifer Hudson.

"I always think competition is healthy, it's good. Even, like, Jennifer Hudson — let's say that people that are fans of her don't know me very well; they'll tune into 'VH1 Divas' or something and be like, 'Oh, I didn't know I'd like her,' " Clarkson said.

"VH1 Divas" premieres December 19 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Yelawolf Drops 'Hard White' Remix With T.I., Slaughterhouse

'In the Shady crew first, for me, it's not to be the best because it ain't gonna happen,' Wolf tells MTV News.

The Shady Records cipher at the 2011 BET Hip Hop Awards was one of the year's best hip-hop moments. YelaWolf, Slaughterhouse and Eminem dropped some of the most densely packed rhymes in recent memory.

Now, with his newly released remix of "Hard White," Gadsden, Alabama's Wolf aims to recapture some of that magic. While Em isn't present, T.I.., Crooked I, Royce Da 5'9," Joell Ortiz and Joe Budden all hold it down lyrically alongside Yela.

And just like the Shady Cypher, picking a standout verse on the track could be difficult. T.I. sets it off with his usual swagger as Yela picks up with a vivid story rhyme that details a high-school shooting. Crooked, Royce, Joell and Budden all follow with tightly woven verses, boasting of their rap supremacy — much like the Shady crew did in the BET cipher.

"The BET cipher, yeah, we killed it," Wolf told MTV News last week. "That was a huge day for me, going up to Detroit and having that time with me, Slaughter and Marshall [Mathers]. That's the first we ever had that closed environment, uninterrupted by fans."

Surely, a room full of respected MCs must get competitive, but when it comes to collaborating with his crew, Yela said he's actually humbled to be down with such talent. "In the Shady crew, first, for me it's not to be the best because it ain't gonna happen," he said modestly. "You just have to be confident in what you're doing and know that you might get ate up at any moment by any of these dudes because they're all so ridiculous and just be honored to be a part of it."

On November 21, Yelawolf is set to drop his debut album, Radioactive. So far we know the album boasts appearances from Eminem, Kid Rock and Gangsta Boo as well as production from the J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League and WillPower.

Wiz Khalifa Comparisons 'Huge' To Newbie T. Mills

'I thought that whole signing to a major label, getting on the radio only happened in movies,' 'Stupid Boy' MC tells Mixtape Daily.
By Rob Markman

Fire Starter: T. Mills
One listen to Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and that was all she wrote for young Travis Mills. The 22-year-old Riverside, California, native was so enamored by the multiplatinum rap quintet that he decided to jump into music.

"The fact that they could sing and rap at the same time, integrate melody and stuff into their songs, I was blown away," T. Mills told Mixtape Daily.

Now that Mills does in fact blend rap and pop melodies in his music, some are comparing the tatted-up newcomer to Wiz Khalifa. While Mills insisted that he's his own man, he's also flattered by the comparison. "I think it's definitely a compliment. I'm a huge Wiz fan," he said. "Even for someone to put me in the same category as Wiz is a huge accomplishment for myself because I been f---in' with Wiz a long time and he's on top of the game right now."

T. Mills hopes to eventually occupy a similar space. When he was 17, the young rapper began recording songs on his MacBook, and by 18, he was posting his music on MySpace. In 2009, Mills performed 60 shows as part of the Vans Warped Tour, where a dance tent was his stage. He went on to sign with independent label Uprising Records, the home of his 2010 debut Ready, Fire, Aim! Although he's still a relative unknown, his video for "Stupid Boy" has clocked 1.8 million views on YouTube.

And T. Mills is just getting started. At the top of the year, he signed to Columbia Records, dropping his free LP Leaving Home with the label. "Originally, the concept for the album was a mixtape, I just wanted to put out a mixtape," he explained. "What if we do an album that I give to my fans as gratitude?" he remembered asking the record company.

While "Stupid Boy" is a party track, Mills believes he has grown since then, so on Leaving Home, he offers up more than just carefree, feel-good music.

"It was my first time in a real studio, so it was my first time having access to all that stuff," he said of his breakout single. "Before then I just recorded on my laptop. I feel like it was a good learning experience for me. It's not who I am now but it gave me that platform."

That's not to say that Leaving Home isn't fun. There's the sneakers-and-sex ode "Vans On," where Mills sings about making love while wearing his skater kicks, for example. And to add balance, there's also the inspirational "Smoke & Mirrors" and the cautionary "Hollywood."

With his major-label debut scheduled for a 2012 release, it seems T. Mills is well on his way. The reality of it all, though, is still a bit much for the small-town kid.

"When I was 19, I didn't think anything could happen," he admitted. "I'm from a small town; I thought that whole signing to a major label, getting on the radio only happened in movies."

Rihanna's 'We Found Love' Makes Hot 100 History

Latest #1 moves her ahead of Stevie Wonder and Janet Jackson on the all-time list, with Whitney Houston and Madonna within reach.

Rihanna may have pushed the boundaries with her video for "We Found Love," but thanks to that song, she's now pushed her way into the history books — and passed a pair of all-time greats in the process.

"Love" just completed its climb to the top of the Billboard Hot 100, giving Rihanna her 11th #1 hit, which puts her one ahead of Stevie Wonder and Janet Jackson.

With her latest chart-topper, she's now tied with Whitney Houston and is within reach of equaling Madonna and the Supremes' career total of 12 #1's. If — or, more likely, when — she gets her 12th, she'll trail only Michael Jackson (13 #1's), Elvis Presley (17), Mariah Carey (18) and the Beatles (20) on the all-time list. Rare company, indeed.

And just as impressive is how quickly she's accomplished all this. Earlier this month, when "Love" leapt from #16 to #9 on the Hot 100, RiRi made Billboard history by racking up 20 top 10's faster than any solo artist, doing it in just six years and four months. That bested a mark previously set by Madonna, who did it in six years and nine months and ranks Rihanna second to only the Beatles, who pulled off the feat in a staggering two years and seven months.

Rihanna is the 14th artist to ever earn 20 Hot 100 top 10's and is just the fifth woman to do it. Madonna leads everyone with 37 top 10's, followed by Carey and Jackson (27 each) and Whitney Houston, with 23.

What do you think about Rihanna's chart accomplishment? Let us know in the comments!

'Hunger Games' Is 'Staggering,' Woody Harrelson Says

'It's almost impossible to describe, it's so unusual,' he tells MTV News.

For all our fellow "Hunger Games" fans out there, the wait for the film's March 23 release date is both highly anticipated and a bit painful. Lucky for us, MTV News has encountered a few of the film's principal players over the course of the past few months, like Jennifer Lawrence and director Gary Ross, who have helped tease a few key details to make the wait for the film seem slightly shorter.

Now, we are very happy to share another special cast encounter: our recent chat with Woody Harrelson, a.k.a. Haymitch Abernathy, who revealed the secrets of his character's 'do and a few teases about the look of the film, as well as how much fun he had with Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and his other co-stars.

"The hair, when I was thinking about what to do for the character, I hung out with my brother Brett, and that is exactly the way his hair is," Harrelson explained of how the long, slightly shaggy hairdo came to be. "I was like, 'OK, let's get a wig. Let's do the Brett Harrelson hair.' It's kind of cool. I really liked the look. It's a fun character, and I think it's going to be a good movie."

We asked Harrelson how closely he resembles the alcoholic, unkempt, out-of-shape former champion, as described by author Suzanne Collins in the books — like, for example, if he wore a fat suit or gained a bit of weight.

"No, I didn't want to do the paunch," Harrelson revealed. "In many ways, I tried to go against this rough, old, typical concept of what he would be like. I don't know yet that I succeeded, but I think it turned out good," he said. "I loved working with Gary Ross. I think he is just a great director, an amazing guy."

With regard to the look and feel of the big-screen adaptation, Harrelson called the visuals "staggering."

"It's almost impossible to describe, it's so unusual. Even ice in the glass, even the glasses are not normal glasses. There's nothing that you've seen before. It's real original artistic vision," he said. "I think people are going to like it."

One of the things Harrelson liked — in addition to Haymitch, of course — was working with his young co-stars, particularly Lawrence and Hutcherson.

"I think they're just marvelous actors. I think they just knocked it out of the park," he gushed. "Just as people, [they are] about as fun as it gets. They really are fun folks. It's cool, because I've never even done a sequel, and I just signed on to four movies, so we're going to be spending a lot of time together between doing the movies and press and everything, so it's great to love these guys.

"Having done this first one, I can say I do look forward to doing the next one," he added. "It wasn't a chore. It was actually the opposite; it was a lot of fun. They managed to mix business and pleasure really well, that whole group. I'd say we get after it again next year."

Amy Winehouse, Nas Duet 'Like Smoke' Debuts

Posted: 03 Nov 2011 09:37 AM PDT

First single from Winehouse's posthumous album premiered on New York's Hot 97 Wednesday.
By Gil Kaufman

The world got its first taste of Amy Winehouse's upcoming posthumous album, Lioness: Hidden Treasures, when the late singer's duet with rapper pal Nas premiered on New York's Hot 97 on Wednesday.

The tune from the album, due December 6, is called "Like Smoke," and it was recorded in May 2008 and produced by Amy's longtime collaborator Salaam Remi. It features Winehouse singing in her signature slurry blues drawl over a classic Motown downbeat as Mr. Jones serves up some of his knotty verses.

In fact, while Winehouse sings the five-line hook on the tune, it is Nas who does the heavy lifting, courtesy of two dense verses packed with references to his personal travails, from love and marriage to taxes, the recession and, way before it was a thing, a line about a tall freak who "wouldn't protest with me at Wall Street."

"I never wanted you to be my man/ I just need your company," Winehouse croons over a loping beat, skittering drums and subtle strings and flute. "Don't want to get dependent on/ Your time then lose the way you love me/ Like smoke, I hung around."

Then it's Nas' turn, as the MC breaks off his first rapid-fire verse: "It's not a movie, this is not a script or proofread/ I'll spit some untruths to dumb fools and groupies/ Fun to punctuate, pronunciate the funds I make." The rapper, who split with wife Kelis in 2009, then appears to get personal, rhyming, "Like a polygamist, with a twist/ Will I marry again? Maybe, I guess/ I hold a lady's interest, I just me/ The love scholar, she the teacher's pet."

Nas and Winehouse were pals from way back, with the singer name-dropping her New York friend on the track "Me and Mr. Jones" from her breakthrough Back to Black album.

Though a press release about the album said the song was tracked as far back as early 2008, Nas' second verse feels ripped from the headlines. "Yo, this recession is a test/ It's affecting my complexion/ Misdirection my affection/ My concerns are bill collections," he rhymes, going on to complain about the tax man coming after him and some impropriety on the part of his money handlers. "Evaluate the world bank trusts like I'm IEG," he adds. "Tall freak, she wouldn't protest with me at Wall Street/ She says, no, you're so deep."

He ends his second verse with a tribute to Winehouse, rapping, "NYC to U.K. I might stay there/ Everybody in the club tonight say, 'Yeah'/ You know how me and Amy are, straight players."

On Thursday (November 3), Hot 97 also premiered another track from the album, "Our Day Will Come," Amy's funky reggae take on the 1960s doo-wop tune by Ruby & the Romantics.

Winehouse died in July at age 27 as a result of excessive alcohol intake. Some of the proceeds from the sales of the album will go to the Amy Winehouse Foundation, a charity set up by the singer's family to fight addiction.

What do you think of the new Winehouse songs?
