'Twilight' Trio Should Do A Comedy, Taylor Lautner Says

LOS ANGELES -- "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" black carpet was a bittersweet experience for fans of the series, as it marked the penultimate "Twilight" premiere. But leading man Taylor Lautner was only looking to the future when he caught up with MTV News during the live stream of the event.

In fact, he wasn't even looking at the "Breaking Dawn" films as being the last time he'd be in a film with his co-stars, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. Sure, there's nothing more we as fans would love than for Lautner to star in another movie with Robsten in the near future, regardless what the genre was. But the 19-year-old "Abduction" star has one specific type of movie in mind for their movie reunion: a comedy.

"If I did a film again with them, I'd like to do a comedy. A super, super funny movie," Lautner said. "I think they're funny, especially when they're together. Our relationships together are quite hilarious, so it would be a funny movie, for sure."

So would it end up with him taking his shirt off again? "If the role requires it and I'm in love with it, then we'll see," he said.

Fortunately for fans of Lautner's now-famous set of abs, his shirt apparently comes off within the opening minutes of "Breaking Dawn." He might not be the biggest fan of the attention he gets for his sexy bod nowadays, but it seems like he's willing to take it off to keep the fans happy. After all, they certainly have shown their dedication to the "Twilight" franchise.

"I don't know if I could think of one thing," Lautner said when asked what he'll remember most from the "Twilight Saga" red carpets. "But the obvious thing to think of is all of these fans, them showing up again and again. Last year when they came out, they camped out for days. I thought, 'That's amazing. There's no way they'll do it next year.' Sure enough, they did it. It's unbelievable."

Stick with MTV News as we roll out even more from our "Breaking Dawn" premiere live stream!

Zuccotti Park Cleared By Police

NYPD swept in early Tuesday morning and arrested 70 protesters.

The end of the Occupy Wall Street protest in New York's Zuccotti Park came swiftly, loudly and under the cover of night. Without warning, the New York Police Department swooped down early Tuesday (November 15) morning on the protester camp in the city park and ordered its residents to clear out or face arrest.

The squatters, who had occupied the park since September 17 in a protest against economic inequality in the U.S. that helped spark a national and international movement, were told that the camp was to be "cleared and restored" by morning and that they could return at a later time.

According to The New York Times the 200 protesters who remained in Zuccotti (which they'd renamed "Freedom Park") initially resisted the police action and met officers with chants of "whose park? Our park!" But as police moved in and began tearing down tents and removing the encampment, the occupiers retreated to a central area and tried to barricade themselves behind tables and scraps of wood.

Click through to "Voices From Occupy Wall Street" -- our interactive photo gallery -- and get to know 20 young demonstrators' motivations, hopes and goals.

The effort to clear out the public park in began around 1 a.m. and though dozens of occupiers left over the next few hours, a number refused, locking arms and ignoring police orders to evacuate. Two hours into the action helmeted officers moved in and pulled the remaining squatters out one-by-one and handcuffed them, with more than 70 arrested in the action. Mayor Michael Bloomberg's office Tweeted about the removal around 1:19 a.m., saying, "Occupants of Zuccotti should temporarily leave and remove tents and tarps. Protesters can return after the park is cleared." Bloomberg, who was scheduled to discuss the action on Tuesday morning, later issued a statement explaining the action.

"I have become increasingly concerned -- as had the park's owner, Brookfield Properties -- that the occupation was coming to pose a health and fire safety hazard to the protestors and to the surrounding community," Bloomberg said. "We have been in constant contact with Brookfield and yesterday they requested that the City assist it in enforcing the no sleeping and camping rules in the park. But make no mistake -- the final decision to act was mine."

Even as Bloomberg ordered the park cleared, he noted that protesters would still be able to gather there, but would be banned from setting up tents and sleeping bags. Residents of the area and workers who travel through the perimeter of the park have been complaining for weeks that the occupation has interrupted their lives due to noise, congestion and the barricading of sidewalks.

"Protestors have had two months to occupy the park with tents and sleeping bags," Bloomberg said. "Now they will have to occupy the space with the power of their arguments." In addition to international headlines, the protests drew the attention of a number of celebrities who came down to the camp to visit and get a glimpse at the movement. Among the artists who made their way to Zuccotti over the past few months are Talib Kweli and Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, Susan Sarandon, Tom Morello, folk icon Pete Seeger, actor Mark Ruffalo, film maker Michael Moore, Joan Baez, Jay-Z, Katy Perry, Russell Brand and Russell Simmons.

The move in New York comes as other cities have begun cracking down on Occupy protesters, with police in Oakland, Salt Lake City and Portland, Oregon forcefully taking action against the sit-ins. According to My Fox New York, some occupiers moved to another city park around 10 blocks north of Zuccotti on Tuesday morning, setting up shop in Foley Square. The new location is just blocks from City Hall.

'Dancing With The Stars': Ricki Lake Reclaims The Top

Rob Kardashian also impresses the judges.

The talk-show queen has regained her crown!

Ricki Lake turned in a stellar performance during Monday night's "Dancing With the Stars." Lake impressed with her samba, and she and her partner Derek Hough brought the audience — and the picky judges — to their feet during the semifinals telecast of the show.

Ricki Lake and Derek Hough
Lake earned a perfect score during the first round from the judges; hard-to-please head judge Len Goodman even cheered her on, saying, "Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous!" She later came back to dance the tango, which earned her another pair of perfect 10s and a nine from Carrie Ann Inaba.

J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff
After coming off last week's impressive dances — he earned back-to-back perfect 30s — the war hero failed to impress the judges this week. He hurt himself earlier at dance rehearsals — he had a twisted ankle — and his paso doble earned a mere 23 points. His second dance was the tango; the judges gave him 27/30 for it.

Rob Kardashian and Cheryl Burke
The reality-TV star took on the samba for his first-round dance, and the judges liked what they saw. "Rob, it was amazing," Inaba told him. He earned 28 out of 30 for that dance. For his second-round dance, he danced the tango, which earned him 27 points.

Hope Solo and Maksim Chmerkovskiy
The Olympian failed to channel her sexy the way the judges have been chiding her to do all season long. Her first-round performance was the paso doble, and the judges gave her a paltry 21/30, saying it was too aggressive. Her second dance was a tango, and they said she improved, but not by much. She earned 24/30.

Who had your favorite dance this week. Let us know in the comments!

The Noel Gallagher Life Management System

Seven steps to a better life, courtesy of the erstwhile Oasis songwriter/ general badass, in Bigger Than the Sound.
By James Montgomery

Brothers and sisters, I know times are tough. I realize you may not have a job, savings, stability, direction, guidance, a significant other, a Kindle Fire or even hope, for that matter, and that — to paraphrase Tariq Aziz — there may not be a light at the end of the tunnel, just more tunnel.

And yet, I am here today to tell you all things are possible. That health and happiness are within your grasp. That not only is Utopia real, but it exists on this temporal plane, and all are welcome. That no matter how dark things may seem, dawn is just over the horizon. I know all of this to be true, because I have seen the light. And the light's name is Noel Gallagher.

You have probably heard of him. He was the guy in Oasis who actually seemed to care about being in Oasis, or at least his musical legacy. He wrote some of the greatest songs of the late 20th century — "Live Forever," "Champagne Supernova," "Don't Look Back in Anger" and, of course, "Wonderwall" — and did so with such apparent ease that he became emboldened by his talents, famously buying a fleet of expensive cars (despite never learning how to drive) and a mansion with a swimming pool (despite never learning how to swim). He boozed and brawled, drugged and destroyed, made money fast and blew through it even faster, proclaimed his band's greatness at every possible opportunity and then actually backed it up, selling millions of albums (on both sides of the pond) and playing massive gigs in spots like Knebworth, Wembley, Maine Road and Loch Lomond.

In short, Gallagher was the last of a dying breed: Not just a rock star, but a true icon, a maverick, a tornado, a throwback, a sensation. He reached the heights of fame, built a house there, probably did blow off the kitchen counter, and then wrote a song about it. And yet, despite all that, he was never really an overly complicated guy either. He grew up poor and never forgot it, which is why he always worked hard (even when his brother didn't want to: witness Oasis' truly epic 1996 "Unplugged" fiasco, where Noel sang all the leads because Liam claimed he had a sore throat, only to spend the entirety of the show smoking cigarettes in the balcony), why he appreciated nothing quite so much as the simplicity of a really killer chorus and, yes, why he enjoyed everything he had achieved. If you once worked construction, you tend to enjoy fast cars and fine art just a little more, it would seem.

And sure, you could argue that perhaps Gallagher lost a bit of his luster in Oasis' later years (though Dig Out Your Soul is pretty good), but he'll freely admit that was due mainly to his various excesses, mostly of the cocaine variety. The fact remains that he is still a total legend, a complete badass and, yes, perhaps even a guru of sorts. And here's why I say that.

Last week, I got the chance to sit down with Gallagher for the first time (I was supposed to interview Oasis in 2008, but that chat was canceled when the band went "missing"), to talk about his really, genuinely pretty great solo debut, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds (it is definitely better than Heathen Chemistry, not to mention his brother Liam's post-Oasis bow, Different Gear, Still Speeding too). What followed was 30 minutes of positively life-altering material, a free-ranging conversation from minute one, since it became pretty clear Noel didn't really want to talk about High Flying Birds a whole lot. Instead, he pontificated about the importance of punctuality, the suckiness of Nickelback, the excellence of fine drugs, and how truly great it is to be a hugely successful rock star. He was hilarious, unapologetic, unhinged and, though sort of sleepy — our interview happened at 10:30 a.m. — incredibly cool, even if he wasn't trying to be. There is not a man on earth he fears, nary a challenge he will not accept, especially since he's accomplished pretty much everything already.

And that got me thinking: Wouldn't life be better (or at least easier) if we all asked ourselves "What Would Noel Do?" Couldn't our wildest dreams be realized if we were all just a little more cocksure, exuded a quiet confidence and wore black leather jackets? What if we all harnessed the power of our inner Gallaghers (not this one) and, in turn, shifted that power outward? What could possibly stop us if we realized, on some level, that we are all indestructible, unstoppable and that we could, in fact, live forever?

Simply put, the world needs more Noel Gallaghers. Especially now. And so today, based solely on his actual quotes from my interview with him, I am presenting "The Noel Gallagher Life Management Plan," a seven-step process to better your own miserable existence. Read his teachings, ingest them, and then begin the first day of the rest of your life. He may not realize it, but Noel is onto something here, something that can benefit the whole of mankind. Unhappy? Unfulfilled? You certainly don't have to be — at least not anymore. Thanks to Noel Gallagher. Namaste.

Step One: Be Comfortable With Your Greatness
"It's great to be in the music game. What problems could you possibly have? If you come from where I come from, doing what I do now, I'm living the dream. I've got no complaints on any of the scores. The only problems are internal problems, problems with you as a person. What's problematic about playing stadiums and driving around in private jets and drinking champagne at 8 o'clock in the morning? What's wrong with that? I haven't got a problem with that. I can't fathom why people would."

Step Two: Yet Remain Humble
"To make art is not about working hard. You follow your instincts and you get your inspiration from wherever it comes from, and you try to make it the best that it can be. There's no formula to it. ... There's nothing to say the more time you spend in the studio, it will be better; it doesn't work like that. I've spent weeks on songs in the studio and they've been absolute rubbish. And I've spent 15 to 20 minutes recording a song and it's been hailed as a classic. ... You've just got to trust your instincts and realize that you can't please all the people all the time. You've got to please yourself ultimately in the end."

Step Three: Be Punctual, But Never Too Punctual
"There's no reason, ever, to be late. Or early. I've got a friend of mine back in England who, when I say to him, 'Meet me at mine at 2,' he says, 'I'll get there at half one.' No, get here at 2. Not five to or five past; get here at 2. I apologize for being 30 minutes early [for the MTV interview]; it would annoy me if you were 30 minutes early for me. I would make you wait outside for 30 minutes. I run a tight ship."

[I inform him that New York Giants coach Tom Coughlin has a longstanding policy that if a player is on time for a meeting, he is actually "five minutes late."]

"That's nonsense. If you're on time, you're on time. Who is this guy again? [I inform him again, and point out that Coughlin has, in fact, won a Super Bowl.] Has he played Knebworth? No. If you're on time, you're on time. If you're five minutes late, the bus is gone. Sorry."

Step Four: Don't Make Promises You Can't Keep
[After asking him what fans can expect on his 2012 High Flying Birds Tour, which kicks off March 28 in Washington, D.C.] "I'll speak to you directly. Don't come expecting to see anything; there's nothing to see. All I have is the music. If the music is what you want, come along! Buy a T-shirt and a badge. But if you're coming to see anything, it's not the gig for you. Go and see someone else. I know I'm not selling it very well, but those are the facts."

Step Five: State Your Opinions Freely and Willingly
[I ask Gallagher about his next album, a black-light odyssey he's cooking up with Amorphous Androgynous, a.k.a. electronic duo the Future Sounds of London.] "I know drugs are illegal, but it would be handy to take some mushrooms and listen to it. No question. Drugs are bad, by the way, and they are illegal; I'm just pointing that out. These are not the views of MTV or MTV News. These are not even my views. This is just a fact: Some music is meant to be listened to on drugs."

Step Six: Make Outrageous Demands Because You Deserve Them
"They're real strings [on the album]; not Mellotron. That's a 24-piece female string section. I insisted on it. Girls play different from boys, you see. They sound sexier. It's an amazing thing. Now, a brass section would have to be all guys, because they blow harder. I would insist on a female string section, because strings are supposed to be sexy."

Step Seven: Always Remember Who Your True Friends Are, Yet Be Unafraid to Cut Them Loose for Seemingly Innocuous Reasons
[I ask his opinions on Twitter and Facebook.] "I don't need a million friends. I've got six friends, and I'm f---ing trying to get rid of one of those. I've got one too many, because I can't count them all on one hand. That f---er's got to go, because I don't like his missus. She's an idiot and all. He's not aware of it, but he will be when he doesn't receive a Christmas card."

Howie D Says <i>Back To Me</i> Represents Backstreet Boys 'Brand'

For his first solo album, Howie Dorough tells MTV News he 'didn't want to stray too far from who I really am.'

On his first solo album, Backstreet Boy Howie Dorough is making it all about him. After spending the better part of nearly two decades as a member of the Backstreet Boys, Howie D is declaring Back to Me on his album, out Tuesday (November 15). And he admitted he's feeling some butterflies about the release.

"It's really exciting," Howie told MTV News. "I can definitely say it's mixed emotions: It's nerve-racking, but at the same time, very exciting. I'm the fourth one coming out with my project now. ... I feel like the timing is right for me. I feel like I've put together a great body of work for this album."

It's a good time to be Howie D. He's riding the wave of boy-band nostalgia, having spent the past year working with BSB and New Kids on the Block, and he's ready to hit the road with Britney Spears later this month to open for her Femme Fatale Tour. This album, Dorough explained, has been a very long time coming.

"I started working on this record a little over five years ago. ... I really felt like I wanted to make sure it was the right record," he explained. "I didn't want to rush something out there. I believe that first impression can be last impression, and the last thing I wanted to do was have people be like, 'Oh, wow, he should be in that box.' "

After some tweaking, Dorough thinks he found just the right sound for Back to Me. "My record initially started off in a Latin direction 'cause I thought I wanted to do something totally different, but then over time, I kind of felt like I really didn't want to stray too far from who I really am and what people know of me as the Backstreet Boys," he said.

"I think there's something in that brand that we really have that's special that people really like. ... I love the music that I do with Backstreet Boys," he continued. "All I did with this record was that take staple sound and push the envelope a little bit. I went a little more on the uptempos, a little more on the dance Euro vibe, but definitely still have the signature sound with me, with my ballads and the kind of sultry sound that people say I have."

Howie D explained a bit more about tapping into his romantic side, while opening up the album to other sounds. "My voice definitely lends itself to a lot of the ballads," he said. "There's definitely another side of me that people are going to get the chance to see. I do love energetic, positive music. I love dance music. This whole wave that's going on, like for me, I love dance music that gets me energized."

Robert Pattinson Calls 'Breaking Dawn' Sex Talk 'Weird'

'You can kind of say anything,' he laughs to MTV News at L.A. premiere.

It ain't cool to show up early to your own party. Robert Pattinson took his time Monday night (November 14) arriving at the RPattz Super Terrific Happy Hour — otherwise known as the black-carpet premiere of "Breaking Dawn - Part 1."

The wolf pack and the Forks students had come and gone. Ashley Greene, Kellan Lutz and Peter Facinelli were likely settled into their seats, popcorn in hand. Little Mackenzie Foy had already bounded inside. But the party didn't truly begin until around 6:30 p.m. PT, when Pattinson sauntered onto the scene and the assembled crowd — including the hordes that had been camped out in Tent City for days — erupted into screams so high-pitched you'd have thought they'd been bitten by a vampire. Perhaps they had.

And they couldn't get enough. By the time Rob made his way to MTV News' live-stream platform, he couldn't quite believe real life had not in fact gone flying out the window and a surreal fantasy had enveloped him instead. "It's like an alternate reality," he said of the premiere. "My everyday life is so boring, and then you go to these things and everyone thinks something cool is happening."

Check out hot photos of Robert Pattinson on the Red Carpet!

It is, dude. For a while. Pattinson's press tour has been going on for weeks now, with the 25-year-old skipping across the globe and stopping to chat with MTV News on a number of occasions. Wherever he goes, though, the talk always seems to turn to one topic: sex. Specifically, the honeymoon boom-boom that Pattinson's Edward Cullen shares with Kristen Stewart's Bella Swan.

"It is kind of disgusting," he laughed. "It's weird. I feel like I'm going a little bit crazy. You can kind of say anything. It's like sex and death."

One thing Pattinson hasn't discussed — and one thing he jokingly admitted on the carpet — is that though "Breaking Dawn" ended up rated PG-13, he is quite sure the harder, bloodier version would have made for a better flick.

"Oh yeah, completely. Definitely," he said of an R-rated "Breaking Dawn." "It'd be way better."

Lady Gaga And Laurieann Gibson Split: Experts React

Posted: 14 Nov 2011 02:45 AM PST

'It's shocking and it's not,' one music writer tells MTV News.
By Jocelyn Vena

After spending nearly her entire career working with Laurieann Gibson, Lady Gaga confirmed Monday (November 14) that she and her creative director had decided to part ways.

It was a move that may have been surprising to Gaga's Little Monsters, considering how closely the two have created some of the Mother Monster's most-memorable visuals, but did the split surprise music-industry observers?

"On the one hand, I get why [they split], because it seems like Laurieann's been doing a lot outside of the Gaga universe," Entertainment Weekly's Kyle Anderson told MTV News, referring to Gibson's starring roles on the BET dance-competition show "Born to Dance" and another dance reality series, E!'s "The Dance Scene." "On the other hand, it's a little bit strange, because Gaga's circle of people is so small, and all those people have been with her since pretty much the duration. She's really, really loyal, so it's a little bit strange to me, because I think she has this circle of people she trusts with her work."

Who should be Gaga's next choreographer? Let us know in the Newsroom!

As a key member of the Haus of Gaga, Gibson was never afraid to share her honest opinion about Gaga's work. Most notably, she spoke out publicly against Gaga's Jo Calderone performance at the VMAs, as well as her Nick Knight-directed "Born This Way" clip.

That unbridled honesty could be behind the Gaga/Gibson split, according to Us Weekly senior music editor Ian Drew.

"It's shocking and it's not," Drew told MTV News. "They were extremely close, and she let Laurieann have an unprecedented amount of control in her camp. Let's face it: Laurieann is very headstrong, never holds back what she thinks, and that tends to rub people the wrong way. I'm not totally surprised; it was only a matter of time.

"Look, I love Laurieann, and as a journalist, she's an interviewer's dream, because you'd catch her and she'd always just say what was going on," he added. "Laurieann would just say it. She would give you that perfect sound bite. She tended to be a little bit loose-lipped. But on the other hand, I can see why that maybe ruffled Gaga's feathers, because Gaga's all about the performance piece and not giving away too much. Laurieann really liked to take credit — not that that was bad, [and] maybe it was due, but maybe Gaga didn't want everyone knowing that. In the end, I do tend to think it was something to do with creative differences."

The big question is how the duo's severed partnership will impact Gaga's future endeavors. Will Little Monsters notice Gibson's absence?

"It always puts a really, really heavy focus on whatever the next project is," Anderson explained. "With stars like these, people become curious to know: 'Well how much do these individual cogs play into what we see in front of us?' These two have been together [for years], so we don't yet know what Gaga is like without her. So we don't know exactly what part of that personality plays into her projects."

What do you think about Gaga and Laurieann's split? Let us know on Facebook.

LOS ANGELES — Here at MTV News, we've been celebrating the highly anticipated release of "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" with a flurry of "Twilight"-related activity.

Now it's time to spotlight the very dedicated, passionate fanbase. On Saturday, we headed out to "Twilight" fan central, fondly referred to as "tent city," where more than 900 people had already set up camp ahead of tonight's Los Angeles premiere. (Join MTV.com live from the red carpet at 8 p.m. ET!)

"I got here at 12 a.m. Wednesday night," Megan Lambert told us in front of her "Team Jacob"-themed tent. Lambert holds the #2 spot in line and is hoping for a hug from Taylor Lautner at the premiere.

Campers Lisa Paulosky, Emily Chadduck and Christy Brolezi bonded over their love for "Twilight" and formed a Facebook group ahead of the premiere for fellow fans who wanted to camp out. Several members traveled a considerable distance to be there.

"I came from Chicago," Paulosky said.

"I came from New Mexico," Chadduck admitted.

They all want one thing on Monday: a Robert Pattinson encounter.

"I need to take a picture with Rob," Brolezi said. "My heart will break if I don't."

The most creative fan group award goes to the ladies behind the Facebook group Kristen Stewart's Hot Bodyguard, a.k.a. Team HBG. Unsurprisingly, the ladies are hoping for a photo opp with Kristen and their main man, HBG.

"We have a special present for HBG that we've been holding onto for a year," founding member Lynsey Jacob told us.

We also happened upon a young male fan, who wasn't at all shy about his love for the lady vampires, particularly Nikki Reed. "I'm Team Vampires," Cody Huddleston said with a smile.

The dedication among these fans is a marvel, and they would have camped out sooner if they could have. "I would have come two weeks ago if they would have let me," Shannon Berry said. "I would have come a month ago."

Tonight, join MTV.com live from the "Breaking Dawn - Part 1" red-carpet premiere as we talk to your favorite stars about all things "Twilight"!

All three Jonas Brothers have spent some time apart, working on their individual projects: Nick Jonas has been producing other artists and will appear in "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" on Broadway, while Joe Jonas has been busy pimping his solo album, Fastlife, all over the globe. The guys admit it's time to get the old band back together.

"We had been focusing this past year and a half on our individual projects and what we're doing on our own, and I think that with 'How to Succeed' and with Joe still promoting his album and doing all that, that's still a bit part of the future," Nick told MTV News when he stopped by our New York office last week. "However, we have started thinking about the next step and what that means for the brothers, and the tone overall is just that we want it to be the right time, and we want to take our time."

In fact, there's even a timeframe for when the guys intend to really start thinking more about their next album. "I'm gonna be going to New York probably when Nick's going to be doing some Broadway stuff, so maybe some more Jonas Brothers stuff soon," Joe added on the set of "Hot in Cleveland" a day later. "Kevin, he lives in New York, so we'll all be there together. We'll see what happens. Nick's gonna be working on his project, and we're always writing together, and we promised the band's not over. So, I'm definitely looking forward to be able to get back with them."

And, JoBros fans, there even seems to some chatter that in addition to new music, there might also be some new tour plans. "We're excited to make music for our fans again and to be able to tour one day together again," Nick explained. "I don't know necessarily when that will be, but it will happen, and when it does, we're gonna be really excited, and hopefully our fans and others will be excited as well."

Another week, another trailer debut! Last week, we got excited about Kristen Stewart's intensity in "Snow White and the Huntsman"; this week, it's all about the first full-length "Hunger Games" trailer.

MTV News contacted a few of the book and film adaptation's biggest fans for their instant reactions to seeing Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence), Gale (Liam Hemsworth) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) in all their first-trailer glory.

"It's pretty incredible," said Sara Gundell of Examiner.com. "This is probably the most excited I've been about this movie since I don't know when."

"We had a little treat. We got to go down to Lionsgate a few days early and we got to see the trailer there," revealed TheHob.org's Megan Scott.

"So we've been freaking out for three days now," added Hob colleague Amanda Belcher.

"We've been absolutely freaking out," Scott agreed.

"The first time I got to see it, I was crying — and I've never cried before with a trailer," admitted Arianna Ruiz of HungerGamesDWTC.net. "It's just so emotional and it's so wonderful to see my favorite book brought to life, and I'm sure it's the same for everybody else as well."

"There were lots of tears," Scott said.

"Yes, lots of tears, [during] the reaping scene especially," Belcher added. "We all teared up. How could you not with Katniss screaming and you see Primm being carried away? But I think we were tearing up over the excitement of finally seeing this and how good it really is."

While Gundell is still skeptical of how faithfully director Gary Ross and company will adapt Suzanne Collins' best-seller for the big screen, the trailer has helped alleviate a few pre-conceived fears.

"I'm still cautious going into 'The Hunger Games,' but after seeing the trailer, I'm about 10 times more optimistic than I was beforehand," she said. "It definitely has raised my hopes."

Amy Winehouse 'Didn't Record Like 2Pac'

So don't expect never-ending posthumous albums, producer Salaam Remi tells MTV News.
By Rob Markman

Thanks to the upcoming posthumous album Lioness: Hidden Treasures, fans will be able to hear a collection of new Amy Winehouse material, but beyond that, the public shouldn't expect a ton of unheard material. That's just not the way Winehouse recorded, friend and producer Salaam Remi told MTV News during a November 4 interview in New York's Jungle Studios.

"She didn't record like 2Pac, so that's not the case," Remi told MTV News of Winehouse. "There are definitely things that people hadn't heard that have been recorded, but they're in different modes in different forms. But she wasn't a recorder like that."

One such song is "Like Smoke," the singer's collaboration with Nas, which was completed after she died in July.

"Amy sang on records that we never put out with Nas," Remi said. "As far as them now getting on the same record, that was a conversation in play for the last couple of years but that just didn't happen yet. And when I listened to that song, I was like, 'You know what? This makes sense,' to actually make that happen as far as things that she wants to do that didn't happen yet."

According to Remi, Winehouse didn't record just for the sake of recording. "She'd just do one take of a song, she'd write it and then she'd go sing it. Back to Black was a short album in comparison; it was like 37 minutes," Remi said of Winehouse's 2007 breakout album. "[She was like,] 'This is what I'm writing, this is what you get, underline, bye.' "

Still, the producer said there is some material waiting in the wings. "It's not that type of recording process, but there are definitely a lot of things that people haven't heard before or weren't aware of," he said.

Mixtape: 1.21 Gigawatts: Back to the First Time

Real Spit: Ludacris may be off in Hollywood these days, but the "Fast Five" rapper-turned-actor has not lost his touch with the streets.

His latest mixtape, 1.21 Gigawatts: Back to the First Time, provides a reminder for those who may have forgotten about his lyrical prowess. "The sound of the tape is strictly taking it back to the streets, strictly taking it back to the essence," Luda told Mixtape Daily. "You know I been gone for two years, so I'm trying to flood the Internets with music, I'm trying to flood everybody. All the fans for the past 10 years that's been supporting me: This is for you."

The tape, which will be released Tuesday on mixtape site DatPiff, may boast a number of notable features like Rick Ross, Wiz Khalifa, Meek Mill, Big K.R.I.T. and 2Chainz, but Luda gets in superstar mode, spitting the same witty, rapid-fire flows that made him famous on his 2000 breakout Back for the First Time.

The bouncy "Mother----er Can You Buy That" samples the 1973 Blaxploitation classic "The Mack" and features Luda delivering some of his most boastful lines. "Ready, set, go, oh I'm so outrageous/ Your money is tied up, bitch, my money is the dominatrix," he spits in true Luda fashion.

"On Fire," though much slower, finds 'Cris spewing just as much heat. "Look, I make my own decisions, learn from my own mistakes/ My enemies, they want beef but don't know what's at stake," he delivers.

Over the course of 12 tracks, Ludacris makes it clear that despite any of his extracurricular activities, there is no other MC on the mic who can do quite what he does. Doubters need to look no further than the chest-pounding "Say It to My Face" or the get-high ode "What You Smoking On."

Think Luda went Hollywood? Think again. "[I'm] taking it back to the beginning, taking it back to the essence," Luda said of 1.21 Gigawatts. "It's gritty, it's grimy, it's hard core."

Joints to Check For
» "I'm On Fire" - "It's featuring Big K.R.I.T. My verse is on there, it's just letting you know about the life I live and where I feel I'm at in this game. It is produced by the one and only Mike Will. You gotta check it out; it's one of my favorite songs on the mixtape."

» "Mother----er Can You Buy That" - "Of course, still witty Ludacris, still having fun. Fast flow, people love when I do that, and this right here is produced by Drugs. Self-explanatory."

Jay-Z And Kanye West's 'Paris' Came 'Out Of Nowhere'

Jay-Z and Kanye West might give it up for Paris on their Watch the Throne single, but the international party anthem is now #1 in the U.S.

Last week, "N---as in Paris" snagged the top spot on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop chart. Producer Hit-Boy couldn't be more ecstatic, especially considering that he initially submitted Jay and 'Ye other records that at the time seemed to be bigger than "Paris."

"The crazy thing about the 'Paris' record is that record just came out of nowhere, pretty much," Hit-Boy told MTV News last week. "I did other records that were talked about being singles and all types of stuff, so I was hyped over those records."

Instead, the superstar duo chose to run with "N---as in Paris," a brash celebration of success over a bouncy beat, mashed up with Will Ferrell sound bites.

Though it was Hit-Boy who came up with the initial version of the track, he credits 'Ye with the addition of the former "SNL" funnyman. "Genius. That's just the genius that 'Ye is. He always comes up with these ideas that just takes music to a whole 'nother level," Hit-Boy gushed. "Just something that's never been done before."

Ferrell was also pretty excited about being included on the song. "I was completely flattered when they asked if they could sample me into the song," Ferrell told MTV News about the track's "Blades of Glory" quotes. "And when I heard it for the first time, I just started to laugh because it felt so surreal. But I really did like the song."

Not only is "Paris" killing the radio, but while on tour, Hov and Yeezy perform the fan favorite multiple times in a single night. During the tour's opening night on October 28 in Atlanta, the duo rocked the single twice; the next night they performed it three times.

When Hit-Boy caught one of the two Madison Square Garden shows in New York at the beginning of November, he was blown away hearing his track repeatedly."It was amazing," he said. "I've never heard of that being done before, like a song being performed multiple times. That made me feel super special."

'Hunger Games' Full Trailer Debuts

Posted: 14 Nov 2011 06:51 AM PST

Trailer presents just less than half of the overall story of the film, due out in March 2012.
By Eric Ditzian

Back in August at the MTV Video Music Awards, Katniss Everdeen was all by herself, a reluctant warrior ducking fireballs with bow and arrow in hand. As of Monday morning (November 14), Katniss is no longer alone. The world of "The Hunger Games" has exploded with the debut on "Good Morning America" of the first full trailer from the upcoming adaptation of Suzanne Collins' best-selling YA series.

The arc of the new footage comprises essentially the first 11 chapters of the book, from Katniss' (Jennifer Lawrence) time spent hunting in District 12 with Gale Hawthorne (Liam Hemsworth) to her decision to replace her younger sister as a Hunger Games tribute to Katniss' training in the Capitol and finally the very beginning of the gladiatorial competition. Taken together, the trailer presents just less than half of the overall story.

And what a half it is. We get our first trailer looks at characters like escort Effie Trinket (Elizabeth Banks) in wacky magenta makeup, games maker Seneca Crane (Wes Bentley) and his rather creative facial hair, mentor Haymitch Abernathy (Woody Harrelson) with his long blond locks, President Snow (Donald Sutherland), and stylist Cinna, looking, well, a lot like the guy playing him, Lenny Kravitz.

Amazing Or Just Eh? Rate The Trailer On Facebook

The action begins in the rolling woods of District 12, one of the improvised sections of Panem, the nation that rose out of the ashes of North America. As Katniss and Gale discuss a fantasy of escaping their lives under the brutal reign of the Capitol, you might be thinking the story takes place in the past. But then, in flies one of the Capitol's airships. Trouble has arrived. It's time for the Reaping, that annual lottery designed to select two young people from each district for a last-person-standing death match to be broadcast across Panem.

The Reaping has a chilling visual motif to it, all washed-out colors and grim-faced potential Tributes. Yet in this lifeless square comes a shot of lightning: Katniss won't let her sister be sucked into the Hunger Games. She volunteers to take her place, and thus begins a new life for her and fellow Tribute Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson). They're whisked away, at which point we catch our first glimpse of the shining Capitol, the Rocky Mountains looming mightily in the background. We see Katniss' makeover, her training and then the very beginning of the Games, as the Tributes race toward the Cornucopia for supplies.

What happens from there? Well, it's not too long before Katniss is all by herself, a reluctant warrior ducking fireballs with bow and arrow in hand.

In addition to the whole fame-and-fortune package that comes with being a member of the "Twilight" cast, one of the additional benefits is that you get to see the finished film before anyone else.

When MTV News caught up with "Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" star Jackson Rathbone recently, we asked him to talk about his first-time viewing experience.

"I got a nice little private screening," Rathbone said. "There were about six [castmembers] in the theater. I was saying, 'This is what it would be like watching "Twilight" if no one liked it,' " he joked. "If it had failed, that's exactly what it would have been like: six people in the theater."

In all seriousness, however, Rathbone said he and his co-stars had a lot of fun watching the film together and interacting with the screen.

"As soon as Taylor [Lautner] ripped off his shirt, we all tried to yell as much as possible to supplement the lack of little teenage girls [screaming]," he said. "It was fun. We had a good time with it. Nikki [Reed] and I were making fun of each other the whole movie. Any time one of us would come onscreen, we'd poke each other," he said with a laugh.

In addition to those swoon-worthy shirtless moments, Lautner has promised us that we'll be shedding some tears.

"You are going to face a lot of emotions, definitely," he teased. "You are going to be angry. I guarantee you [that] you will cry multiple times."

Tonight, join MTV.com live from the "Breaking Dawn - Part 1" red-carpet premiere as we talk to your favorite stars about all things "Twilight"!

Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law Go 'Bigger' In 'Sherlock Holmes 2'

We caught up with the 'Game of Shadows' stars and director Guy Ritchie on London set of the detective sequel.

It's one thing to breathe new life into a literary icon. Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law and director Guy Ritchie did that two years ago with "Sherlock Holmes," a quasi-Steampunk take on Arthur Conan Doyle's legendary detective. The real challenge comes when you have to do it again.

The trio are set to give it another go on December 16, when the sequel, "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows," hits theaters. MTV News' Josh Horowitz traveled all the way to the London set of the film to talk to Downey, Law and Ritchie about recreating the magic of the first film and just why Holmes and Watson make for such compelling characters. We also discovered there was consensus among the three men about the approach for this film: bigger.

"I'm too close to be objective about this now, but originally when we were constructing this conceptually, we just wanted to make it bigger," Ritchie said. "We wanted to make it bigger and better, and I'm not sure if you can be more eloquent than that."

Ritchie told us that with the first movie out of the way, he "knows the identity" of the films better than ever and can take everything to the next level. "I supposed I stuck my toe in the water creatively on the last one. I'm probably a little bit more confident about who these guys are," he said.

In "Game of Shadows," the action jumps into the future a bit, taking place more than a few months after the first film. Watson has moved out of 221 Baker Street, and Holmes is in tough shape and deeply obsessed with one of literature's greatest villains, Professor James Moriarty, played in the new film by Jared Harris.

No reimagining of Holmes would be complete without a take on his arch-nemesis, and Ritchie said that Harris is up to the task. "I'm not saying this because it's what directors are supposed to say, but I do believe Jared is a fantastic Moriarty, and you are dealing with arguably the most infamous villain in the history of literature, so it's no mean feat."

For the two heroes of the story, Downey and Law said they could endlessly revisit Holmes and Watson. Asked why, Downey got straight to the point. "The money and the merch!" he laughed

Taking a more serious note, Law explained that it's the chemistry between the two characters that will always be fascinating. "They're just interesting. They're very, very interesting. The dynamic is always fresh," Law said.

The pair is so dynamic, in fact, that it's often hard to tell what kind of reaction a scene between them will elicit. "We've done stuff which we're cracking up over and we think is so funny, and we watch it back over and in fact, it's very touching," Law said. "We think, 'Where did that come from?' And vice versa, we'll do stuff we're desperately trying to make this heartfelt moment, and it's nothing short of broad and really funny."

"It's a discovery process," Downey agreed.

Jay-Z Vows To Be Hands-On Dad, In <i>GQ</i>

Hov named King of the Year in mag's upcoming 'Men of the Year' issue.

Jay-Z seems to excel at everything he tries. As a rapper, Jigga's track record is impeccable and his accomplishments as a businessman have kept Hov hovering around the top of various Forbes lists for almost 10 years now. But how will Jay, who seems to do so many things so well, fare at fatherhood? It's a topic the mogul tackles in a cover story in GQ magazine's "Men of the Year" issue.

"Providing — that's not love," Jay says. "Being there — that's more important. I mean, we see that. We see that with all these rich socialites. They're crying out for attention; they're hurting for love. I'm not being judgmental — I'm just making an observation," Jay, who was anointed the mag's King of the Year, tells writer Alex Pappademas. "They're crying out for the love that maybe they didn't get at home, and they got everything, all the material things that they need and want. So we know that's not the key."

The soon to be 42-year-old rapper graces the cover of the December issue, which hits newsstands on November 22, wearing a black suit, a matching skinny tie and sporting a grin. It's a familiar look for Jigga, but the feature story reveals someone new: Big Poppa Jay.

The Roc Nation boss' complex relationship with his absentee dad factors into his own views on becoming a papi, and it's a topic he tackled on his 2000 The Dynasty album ("Where Have You Been"), his '03 "retirement" LP The Black Album ("December 4" and "Moment of Clarity") and, most recently, on "New Day," a standout track off of his and Kanye West's Watch the Throne.

On "New Day," the duo rap hypothetically about fatherhood, except that now for Jay, life will imitate art. When the Throne wrote the song, Jay explains to GQ that he and wife Beyoncé were not yet expecting. The RZA-produced track finds Jay vowing not to do what was done to him as a child: "Promise to never leave him, even if his mama tweakin'/ 'Cause my dad left me and left me and I promise to never repeat him."

"My dad was such a good dad that when he left, he left a huge scar. He was my superhero," Jay says in the interview.

But does being a dad mean Jigga will lose his swag? Not in the least. While Jay does admit he will change diapers and strap the baby seat in the Maybach, the hip-hop icon also promises to play rap classics like Reasonable Doubt, Ready to Die and Illmatic for his kid — when the time is appropriate of course.

What do you think of Jay's GQ cover story? Tell us in the comments!

Red Hot Chili Peppers Debut 'Monarchy Of Roses' Video

Posted: 13 Nov 2011 11:04 PM PST

New clip is a tribute to artist Raymond Pettibon, who helped shape the L.A. punk scene the band grew up in.
By James Montgomery

Photo: Warner Music Group

When I first interviewed the Red Hot Chili Peppers back in June, frontman Anthony Kiedis made it a point to wear his now-ubiquitous OFF! cap (the same one he'd wear in their "Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie" video), a tribute to the punk supergroup made up of members of Black Flag, Red Kross and Rocket From the Crypt, to name just a few.

The reason I mention that now is because the Peppers just premiered the video for "Monarchy of Roses," the second single from their I'm With You album, a stark, surging, (mostly) black-and-white thing very much indebted to the work of artist Raymond Pettibon, who made his mark designing album covers, logos and flyers for Black Flag, SST Records and just about anyone else associated with the L.A. punk scene of the late '70s/early '80s.

So, in a way, months before "Roses," Kiedis was already tipping his, uh, cap to Pettibon. Shoot, he even mentions the artist in the lyrics to the song, which makes the clip — directed by Marc Klasfeld — even more fitting. And when you consider the fact that the Peppers basically grew up in the scene Pettibon helped shape (they caught an early break thanks to impresario Brendan Mullen, who booked them at his infamous Club Lingerie), you realize that this video has actually been in the works for a very long time indeed.

While it might not be as flashy or instantly memorable as some of the band's other clips, it fits both the grit of the song — and the Peppers' entire legacy — perfectly. Pettibon's bludgeoning black-and-white images, which he often matches with harrowing texts taken from popular culture, art criticism and commercials, are a true combination of the sacred and the profane, and you could reasonably argue by that logic alone that they've been inspiring Kiedis' lyrics for years now.

The argument could also be made that, by sheer will alone, the Red Hot Chili Peppers have finally earned the right to be considered right alongside bands like Black Flag (and artists like Pettibon) in the pantheons of Left Coast rock, punk or otherwise. Which adds a whole new wrinkle to the "Roses" video, really: It may be their coronation, though I am reasonably sure they did not intend it to be. They're too humble. And always paying tribute, to Mullen (on the I'm With You track "Brendan's Death Song"), to their punk forefathers (Kiedis' OFF! cap) and, really, to the artist who managed to inject iconography into the whole thing.

That he did it in such a stark, shocking way was a testament to the music and the ethos of the era, and as "Roses" proves, it's a solid fit for the Peppers too. After all, like Pettibon's work, they know a thing or two about bleak times. And they've never been afraid to get a little bloody, either.

What do you think of the video? Let us know in the comments!

'Love & Hip Hop' Stars 'Regret' Kimbella Brawl

Season two of VH1's "Love & Hip Hop" premieres on Monday night (November 14), and when the first episode of the reality series airs, it will be immediately evident why its 30-minute slot has been upgraded to a full hour.

In addition to the returning castmembers — Chrissy Lampkin, her fiancé Jim Jones, singer Olivia Longott, Emily Bustamente, and aspiring rapper Somaya Reece — there are two new faces, and plenty of new drama.

Jim Jones' manager, Yandy Smith, is now a fixture on the show along with Kimbella Vanderhee, the girlfriend of Jones' fellow Dipset rapper Juelz Santana. Episode one literally packs a one-two punch, with Chrissy Lampkin throwing down in a face-off against Kimbella, whose news that she dated rapper Fabolous while Emily B was pregnant with Fab's son, triggers an epic brawl.

"I really didn't get a chance to know her [Kimbella], so I don't know what her intent was, but I just felt like it was hurtful," Lampkin told MTV News of why she came to her girl Emily's defense. "I can only deal with what was in front of me and it just came across really hurtful."

Although Emily seemed to take the news with a grain of salt in the trailer for the episode, Lampkin didn't digest it so well. "I think everybody that watches the show feels like Emily doesn't defend herself the way we would like to see her do," Chrissy explained. "I don't regret my feelings, but I regret the way I allowed myself to be pulled out of character. [Vanderhee]'s another grown woman, and it's crazy to put your hands on somebody like that. It's just that I was so hurt and so caught in the moment — it was just reactional. I just reacted to the pain. I know it's gonna sound crazy, but it wasn't really personal."

The fight took place during a small gathering that Emily hosted in order to signal the end of her relationship with Fab, who she dated for about nine years. Chrissy's fiancé Jimmy told MTV News the brawl put him in an uncomfortable position.

"It's awkward," he admitted. "If it was a fight with anyone else, it wouldn't matter to me, but due to the fact that Juelz is my brother, it's a little bit different."

Season two of "Love & Hip Hop" premieres tonight on VH1 at 9 p.m. ET.

Lady Gaga Cuts Ties With Laurieann Gibson

Gibson had been Gaga's creative director for several years.

After a long and fruitful creative partnership, Lady Gaga has broken ties with creative director Laurieann Gibson. MTV News confirmed the split on Monday (November 14), which came after reports that the two women had a serious falling out.

Gibson has been part of Gaga's inner circle since well before the singer became an international superstar, beginning with the choreography for the 2008 "Beautiful, Dirty, Rich" video and continuing through the soon-to-be famous steps in clips for "Just Dance," "Poker Face," "Love Game," "Paparazzi" and "Bad Romance."

The pair were closely associated throughout Gaga's rise to fame, with Gibson providing the choreography and artistic input on such landmark videos as "Telephone," "Alejandro" and "Born This Way." Gibson, who previously appeared on MTV's "Making the Band" with Diddy and the "Starmaker" reality show, has been stepping out on her own lately, including a starring role in the BET dance competition show "Born to Dance" and another dance reality series, E!'s "The Dance Scene."

Gibson also co-directed the Gaga videos for "Judas" and "Yoü and I "but the women reportedly clashed on the set of the former, with Gibson expressing discomfort with the religious imagery in the clip. According to the Reporter, the tension was already showing during the filming of the "Judas" video, during which Gibson told the magazine, "At one point, there was two completely different views and after the third glass of wine, I was like, 'Listen, I don't want lightning to strike me. I believe in the Gospel and I'm not going there."

Think this is the right move for Gaga? Let us know on Facebook!

She was less adamant when talking to MTV News about the controversy, expressing pride in the final product. "I think the concept stuck with this one because, ultimately, there was a place where we wanted to leave the interpretation up to each individual and not take away [Gaga's] power as a performer, as a dancer, as a star," Gibson explained, alluding to the creative clashes the pair had about the "Born This Way" video. "And to leave the moments for you to interpret and be inspired by the fact that everyone has a Judas in their life and that there is a place of deliverance. For me, I interpret differently than her, and for someone else, they'll interpret it differently."

A spokesperson for Gaga confirmed the split for MTV News.

Gibson also spoke out after she and Gaga failed to see eye-to-eye on the concept for the "Edge of Glory" video. After reports that video vet Joseph Kahn would be directing, Gaga instead went for a simpler cityscape treatment that drew some fire from fans. "Listen u disrespectful f--k they had an issue on set I don't lie!!!!!" Gibson tweeted at the time. "Creative Changes happen always educate ignorant Monster's!!!"

The Reporter noted that relations between the two continued to fray this summer over disagreements about the "Yoü and I" video and Gaga seemed to confirm the end with a November 6 tweet in which she announced that Gibson's former #2, Richard Jackson, is her new choreographer.
