AUSTIN, Texas — South by Southwest 2011 had its fair share of amazing performances this year, but Kanye West's show Saturday night at the Vevo Power Plant was certainly hard to top. Officially billed as Vevo Presents: G.O.O.D. Music featuring Kanye West, John Legend, Common, Kid Cudi, Mos Def and more, the event concluded with a 90-minute Kanye set that ran until just past 4 a.m.

The night's festivities were opened by Mos Def. Dressed in black and wearing a shiny costume mask, he performed songs like "Oh No" and "Casa Bey" before ceding the stage to Pusha T. Pusha greeted fans with the Clipse's "Grindin' " and closed with the popular mixtape cut "Fear of God." He was followed by Big Sean and then Cyhi Da Prince, who performed with a violinist. While Mr. Hudson's songs seemed largely foreign to the diverse audience, in a bit of foreshadowing, he closed with his hook from Jay-Z's "Forever Young." Then, a short dance sequence by Fonzworth Bentley lead to a Kid Cudi set. Cudi had fans fist-pumping to the Crookers remix of "Day 'N' Nite" then singing a cappella along with him to "Pursuit of Happiness."

Then it was time for the main event. At roughly 2:30 a.m., after fans had braved hours on their feet (including the time spent waiting in line to get in since the early afternoon), Kanye West sauntered onto a stage draped in red light. The operatic flourishes of "Dark Fantasy," from his latest LP, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, rose in volume as his silhouette appeared. Backed by DJ Cassidy, 'Ye — in a black leather jacket, black gloves and black sunglasses — tore through the opening cut. After revisiting his older catalog with "Can't Tell Me Nothing," he stepped back to the current day and brought John Legend out to perform the popular G.O.O.D. Friday track "Christian Dior Denim Flow." Legend stayed onstage and they performed "Blame Game" together before John manned the keys solo for "Ordinary People."

The night hit its stride when 'Ye brought out the MPC for a VMA-like performance of "Runaway." He danced around stage as the beat played, and harmonized during an extended outro. As the song ended, he put his head down, clutched the microphone and turned his back to the crowd. A brass band joined him for "All of the Lights" and the venue seemed to shake beneath the song's heavy kick drums.

Kanye then exited the stage, only to return with Jay-Z. They performed "H.A.M." together, then ran through a medley of songs they're both featured on. "Swagga Like Us" kicked in, but Kanye lost track of the tune. "I forgot that one," he admitted.

It was Jay-Z's turn to take over the set, and of course, diamonds were in the sky for "Public Service Announcement." "Austin, Texas, if you're having a good time with G.O.O.D. Music tonight, make some noise!" Jay said.

Jay finished, appropriately, with "Big Pimpin," the cut that features popular Texas-bred rappers UGK. Hov led the crowd in reciting the late Pimp C's verse before leaving the stage.

The show switched back to Kanye's newer material, and when "Lost in the World" began, Bon Iver's Justin Vernon took the stage. Dressed in black, staring straight down, he sang his haunting verse while Kanye returned to perform the rest of the song.

Everyone from G.O.O.D. Music joined Kanye onstage to sing the chorus of the final song, "Good Life," as West drew the show to a close.

Jennifer Hudson Says R. Kelly, Alicia Keys 'Gave Me My Sound' For I Remember Me

On Tuesday, Jennifer Hudson drops her new album, I Remember Me, and it seems the artists she worked with on the record also remembered her. For the release, she hooked up with Alicia Keys and R. Kelly, who seemed to channel the singer perfectly — almost too perfectly.

"R. Kelly was writing for me at the time, and I didn't even know it, and they just sent me this song," she recalled to MTV News about the track "Where You At." "You don't want to get your hopes up too high of being able to work with someone like R. Kelly, and when they sent the song, they told me, 'Kelly put up a shrine of pictures of you to channel you, and he created this song.' "

Whatever he was doing seemed to really work, as Hudson explained: "It was kind of creepy to me, because when I heard the song, I was like, 'Oh my god! ... He's, like, giving me me! This is what I would do! This is something I would say.' And I hadn't even met him until after ... and I'm like, 'This is bizarre.' "

Crediting Kelly and Keys, Hudson notes that "they gave me my sound." And it seems whatever otherworldly bond she had with Kelly, she had a more-grounded one with Keys, with whom she worked on the songs "Angel," "Everybody Needs Love" and "Don't Look Down."

"I must say that working with Alicia was my favorite sessions in the recording studio ever, and I think it was partly because ... it was a learning experience," she said about Keys, who gave birth days after their sessions. "She's just amazing to work with. We had such a good time together. ... It was an amazing, fun experience."

Selena Gomez is a die-hard Britney Spears fan, so when she hits the road on her upcoming tour, she plans to pay homage to the Femme Fatale herself.

"We haven't announced anything yet, but I'm kind of creatively thinking of what I want," she told MTV News. "We are working on a few cover songs. We are working on a Britney tribute, which I'm so stoked about, 'cause I love Britney. I was like, 'I have to do it.' I wanna do a mash-up of all her songs and just go for it."

The tribute will look to the past and to the future in terms of Spears' discography, Gomez teased. "Were gonna do a little tribute. We're gonna do her hits, ' ... Baby One More Time,' and then I think we're going to try to incorporate 'Toxic' and that phase," she said. "And then we might do some of her recent, new stuff."

While she may sing some of Spears' biggest hits, she has no plans to re-create any of her famous dance moves. "I don't think so. I'm not going to even touch Britney!" she said. "She's so good. I wouldn't want to butcher it. I'm just going to pay tribute to her! I'm gonna say she's awesome."

Gomez is also very excited for March 29 to come around — that's the day Spears releases her new album, Femme Fatale. "I'm so excited, and I'm ready to hear all of it," Gomez gushed.

When she spoke to Ryan Seacrest recently, Gomez shared that Spears' show was the first concert she ever went to. "We were in the nosebleeds with my cousin," she recalled. "I got the T-shirt and glow stick. and I just remember it being the highlight of my life! I felt like I was on cloud nine!"

Nate Dogg Remembered By Warren G, Snoop Dogg At South By Southwest

Annual Respect the West SXSW party became a tribute to the late singer, who died earlier in the week.

AUSTIN, Texas — Less than 15 minutes before he was set to hit the stage, Warren G sat in a dressing room deep within Austin's Venue 222, wearing a white T-shirt emblazoned with the picture of his late friend and cohort, Nate Dogg, who passed away on Tuesday, reportedly from complications from multiple strokes.

Obviously still dealing with the loss, Warren was silent, stoic and lost in his thoughts. And then, seemingly out of nowhere, he turned to MTV News' cameras and said, with the upmost sincerity, "I honestly don't know how this is going to turn out."

What he was talking about was his tribute to Nate Dogg, which capped off not only the annual Respect the West party (which showcases some of the West Coast's hottest up-and-coming MCs) but the South by Southwest music festival, too. Throughout the night, DJs spun the classics that featured Dogg's soulful voice on the hook — "Lay Low," "The Next Episode," "21 Questions" — and everyone from Kenan Bell to Kendrick Lamar had already made mention of his legacy during their performances, but really, it was the combination of G and his D.P.G.C. running mates Daz Dillinger and Kurupt that would serve as the final word.

So when Warren G said he had no idea how their performance would turn out, you really couldn't blame him. Sometimes, words fail us.

But roughly an hour later, as G, the Dogg Pound and surprise guest Snoop Dogg were exiting the stage, each in a white Nate Dogg T-shirt, the strains of Snoop's "Real Soon" (which featured Nate on the hook) still hanging in the air, it turns out those concerns were unwarranted. What had just transpired was a fitting tribute to their late friend, a man who, by all accounts, enjoyed his time on Earth to the fullest.

In short, it was a celebration, of Nate Dogg's life and his music, as presented by his closest friends and shared by every hip-hop fan who managed to cram inside Venue 222.

Daz and Kurupt were the first to appear onstage, smoking blunts, tearing though "Who Ride Wit Us," as the crowd — who had been waiting for nearly five hours for this moment — lost their minds. That insanity was only ratcheted up a few minutes later, when Snoop emerged from backstage, puffing a blunt of his own, rocking braids and shades, and the trio rolled through "Let's Play House."

Soon, they were joined by Warren G, and, at full strength, they launched into the Snoop classic "Ain't No Fun (If the Homies Can't Have None)" — which featured one of Nate Dogg's most memorable cameos — each man stepping to the front of the stage to deliver their verses. And at the end of the song, his worries subsided, G embraced Snoop and then cracked a wide smile.

Warren then took a solo turn on his "This D.J." and then the four men segued into the 213 track "Whistle While You Hustle," a move appreciated by fans who have hung with the West Coast since before Dr. Dre's The Chronic brought the music to the masses.

The classics only continued from there — "For All My N---az & Bitches," "New York, New York" (which saw a fiery back-and-forth between Snoop and Kurupt), Dre's "Xxplosive" — the audience throwing their W's up, the men on stage smoking and drinking in celebratory fashion. It all culminated, fittingly enough, with perhaps the two greatest songs Nate Dogg featured on: "Regulate" and, of course, "The Next Episode," the latter of which featured Snoop pausing mid-song to exhale a plume of smoke heavenwards, and then, at the end of the song, in perhaps the most fitting tribute of all, the DJ cut the record and the entire crowd sang Nate's famous "Hey, hey, hey, hey/ Smoke weed every day" sign off.

It was highest moment of revelry in a night filled with them, a tribute to the man whose voice sold millions of albums, and who was responsible for some of the greatest hooks in history. Warren G most certainly will miss his friend, but he no longer has to worry about doing his memory justice. He and his West Coast brethren did that on Saturday night at South by Southwest, in the most fitting way possible: with a celebration.

Robert Pattinson's Not Suiting Up For 'Daredevil' ... Yet

The 'Water for Elephants' star said he fears fanboy backlash when it comes to superhero movies.

Imagine Robert Pattinson in tights, fighting crime as an iconic character. While the heartthrob would undoubtedly have the Twihards lining up for days to see him play a superhero, he thinks there's one set of moviegoers who wouldn't be nearly as keen on the idea: fanboys!

During Friday's "MTV First: Robert Pattinson," a live, 30-minute chat with the "Water for Elephants" star, RPattz revealed he would, in fact, take on a superhero role if it were presented to him. "I'd love [to] definitely."

But the actor does have some reservations about taking on the genre, including which superhero he would play. "I don't know what superhero you'd do. Is there any left?" he asked.

Robert did, however, admit that there's one character he'd like to suit up for, but he gave pause when he realized what a stir he might cause by even mentioning it.

"I shouldn't even say this stuff, 'cause all the little fanboys will be like, 'No! I'm gonna shoot him!' " he joked.

So, while we may never know which character Robert is "such a big fan" of, we do know that he's not yet in contention for the role of Matt Murdock in "Eclipse" director David Slade's upcoming "Daredevil" reboot.

"I don't know where that one came from at all," Robert said of the rumors that he was lined up to play the comic book vigilante. But, that wasn't the only thing he found confusing about the future remake. When MTV News mentioned another "Daredevil" was in the works, Robert asked, "[That] Ben Affleck movie?"

He then pondered with a laugh about the 2003 flick, "That's weird, didn't that only come out about three years ago?"

The 24-year-old star did have some casting ideas of his own. "Get David Slade to play him," Robert said of his former "Eclipse" director. "Oh no, he should play, who's the bald guy? Bullseye!"

Which superhero would you like to see Robert Pattinson play?

Check out everything we've got on "Water for Elephants."
