Robert Pattinson On His Leading Ladies: 'I Like Hot Girls'

Given his otherworldly popularity, it seems as if any time Robert Pattinson appears in a film, the majority of the media attention and coverage focuses mainly on the man himself, not his various (and equally attractive) co-stars. As such, Pattinson's lovely leading ladies are occasionally overlooked and likely find themselves constantly answering questions about the "Twilight" star and not the other way around.

However, during our live interview with Pattinson on Friday (March 18), "MTV News First: Robert Pattinson," we asked the actor to talk about his beautiful co-stars, beginning with Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon, who plays his love interest in the upcoming romance "Water for Elephants."

When asked whether he was intimidated by Witherspoon, given her award-winning career, Pattinson admitted that he was — but only for a few minutes.

"Anyone who's really famous and really great, it's always going to be slightly intimidating," he said. "But she has such a nice energy about her, and [the intimidation] is gone within the first couple of seconds."

Regarding his track record of lovely co-stars (Witherspoon, Kristen Stewart, Emile de Ravin in "Remember Me" and Uma Thurman in the upcoming film "Bel Ami"), Pattinson joked that he only works with lovely ladies.

"I like hot girls," he joked. "I like them. I like being in movies with lots of hot girls," he said with a laugh, before getting serious to consider his current and former co-stars. "They're all pretty different," he said. "They're all very strong, actually. I always end up being in movies with very experienced and passionate people. They're never just flimsy floozies."

'Water For Elephants' Clip: Robert Pattinson Plans His Getaway

In MTV-premiered sneak peek, RPattz asks Reese Witherspoon to run away with him.

What would you do if Robert Pattinson asked you to run away with him?

That's the question Reese Witherspoon is compelled to answer in a brand-new exclusive clip from "Water for Elephants" that we debuted during "MTV First: Robert Pattinson," a 30-minute live chat with the actor on Friday (March 18).

The clip comes at a point in the movie when Jacob (Pattinson) and Marlena (Witherspoon) are considering fleeing the circus in which they both work. The pair have fallen for each other, though Marlena is married to an unstable animal trainer named August (Christoph Waltz). His life at risk, Jacob is planning to jump from the circus' train.

"If we don't get too far, there's a hotel in Salem," Marlena tells him. "But don't stay longer than the night."

"Just come with me," he says to her considerable vexation. "You think there's nothing out there for you, but there is. You just can't see it."

"Jacob, you don't understand. I can't. He'll find me," she tells him, referring to her husband.

"Marlena, there's a better kind of life that's meant for you," he answers. "Whether that life is with me or not, whether you love me or not, it doesn't matter. But it's got to be now."

Jacob then reaches out for her hand, offering up a smoldering look that would make Edward Cullen proud. After a few seconds of hesitation, Marlena takes his hand in hers. Wouldn't you?

What happens after that? You'll just have to find out when the movie hits theaters April 22.

Neon Trees 'Confident' They'll Overcome Patrick Stump In Musical March Madness

Utah pop-rockers enter tournament as a #5 seed, but find themselves in an early hole against #12 Stump.

On Monday, when we unveiled our 2011 Musical March Madness bracket, there were more than a few shock seedings ... though perhaps none were as eye-opening as the #5 seed given to Neon Trees, the Provo, Utah, quartet who went from unknowns to rock-radio staples thanks to a relentless touring schedule and the success of their song "Animal."

The selection committee was obviously impressed with their overall body of work (tough, out-of-conference schedule, high RPI, etc.), but with first-round voting set to close on Sunday, the Trees find themselves locked in a tight battle with 12th-seeded Patrick Stump, perhaps proving that they're not yet ready for the MMM stage.

Vote for your favorite bands now over on the Newsroom blog.

Still, the Trees remain confident they can overcome Stump and advance in the bracket ... the way they see it, the selection committee has given them a clear path to the MMM championship.

"A five seed is good, because early in the brackets they face a way lower seed," drummer Elaine Bradley said. "So knowing that, that's good for us early on. But then being a five seed gets problematic, because within your own bracket, you're facing people bigger than you, [but] I'm confident maybe we'll make it past the first round, and then after that anything goes."

And, as they enter the home stretch of the first round, the Trees have another plan up their sleeve. Even as a #5, they're still hoping to harness some of that Gene Hackman magic.

"You know what? I'd like to believe we can go all the way," Bradley said. "We're like 'Hoosiers,' maybe we're a little bit of an underdog, maybe we wear flat Converse instead of the fancy Nike Airs."

"None of us [actually] have Converse on," frontman Tyler Gleen added.

So, will the Neon Trees battle their way past Patrick Stump? Or will it be one-and-done for the rock-radio upstarts? That's really up to you now, isn't it? Voting in all first-round matchups is now open over in the Newsroom blog, and closes Sunday night. May the best band win.

MTV's Musical March Madness tournament is back! Voting on all first-round matchups continues until Sunday, at which point we'll move on to the second round of the action. All winners are determined by your votes, so if your favorite act made the cut, it'll be up to you to guide them to glory. You can rally the troops on Twitter using the hashtag #MMM — but get ready, it's gonna be a war.

Chris Brown Calls Nude-Photo Leak 'Disappointing'

Posted: 18 Mar 2011 05:50 AM PDT

'I was like, 'Man, now it's gonna [look like] a gimmick behind it,' F.A.M.E. singer tells MTV News of his initial reaction.
By Rebecca Thomas

Even with full-frontal snaps of him circulating on the Net, Chris Brown wants everyone to know that, like a certain fired sitcom star, he's still ... winning!

Earlier this month, a newly blond C.Breezy was preparing for the promotional run of his March 22 release, F.A.M.E., when photographs of the heavily tatted pop&B singer — completely in the buff and facing an oblong mirror with phone in hand — leaked to the Internet. Brown quickly took to Twitter, where he unleashed a salty post before removing it: "WTF!!! Here we go!!!"

On Friday (March 18), Chris stopped by MTV News for a sit-down and he explained what really got him hot under the collar about the incident.

"Let me be honest with you. I didn't want to put no pictures out; that's not my intention. A lot of people were saying, 'Yo, he leaked the pictures, he was trying to get promotion,' " the "Deuces" singer said. "For me, I was always a singer, so unless I'm planning on trying to do porn, I don't think I'd want to just leak my wang out to the world before my album comes out."

While leaking photos might be the go-to for celebutantes and wannbe stars famished for fame, Chris was bothered that critics would accuse him of deliberately passing along provocative pictures for publicity's sake.

"It was disappointing to me that it was out, because I was like, 'Man, now it's gonna [look like] a gimmick behind it,' " he said of the pre-release push for his album. "And I don't want a gimmick behind anything that I'm doing."

Although Brown was mum about the girl on the receiving end of those racy pics, we wondered if the experience would make him more cautious with his iPhone in the future. But it turns out Chris found something oddly liberating about it.

"Nah, I'm just living life, I'm just gonna have fun," Brown said, adjusting his Billionaire Boys Club knit cap. "At this point, there's no more insecurities with me. Everything's out on the table. You've seen everything! Also, as an artist I'm free with my music. I get to talk about the subjects I want to talk about and also reach people. So I'm just gonna live my life, man. There's nothing to be upset about, nothing to be angry ... where I'm at creatively and mentally is great so I'm not gonna let anybody or any naysayer or hater mess that up," he said before adding with a toothy grin, " 'cause there's no point, I'm ... winning!"

For those who weren't able to tune into our "MTV First: Robert Pattinson" live interview on Friday (March 18), the range of topics covered during our exclusive 30-minute sit-down interview with the "Water for Elephants" and "Twilight" star ran the gamut from a look back at our first MTV interview with him, an RPattz hairstyle retrospective and, of course, a few details about "Breaking Dawn: Part 1."

We particularly wanted Pattinson's thoughts about his young co-star Mackenzie Foy, who is playing the much buzzed-about role of Renesmee, Edward and Bella's daughter.

"Mackenzie is great. She's really cool. She's really smart," Pattinson said before admitting that the 9-year-old has been making some extra money on set.

"She's got a lot of money out of us swearing around her," he revealed. "I do it by accident, and especially Kristen does it by accident, because she'll apologize with a swear [word]. She's like, 'Oh sh--! Ugh!' She can't stop doing it for about 15 minutes, and [Mackenzie] just waits there [with her hand out]," he laughed.

Pattinson went on to praise Foy's acting skills, revealing a few of the challenges she's had to take on while playing a young vampire/human child.

"She's a great actress. She's really sweet," he said. "She has to do a hard part as well, because she's doing — I don't want to get into special-effects stuff — but she's playing a baby in some scenes," he said. "Oh, man, some of the stuff is so strange. I mean, we've done very strange things on the 'Breaking Dawn' shoot," Pattinson said with a laugh.

Zack Snyder Explains Choosing Henry Cavill For Superman Role

Posted: 18 Mar 2011 08:12 AM PDT

'I think Henry just has this innocence,' filmmaker said of his choice for 'Man of Steel.'
By Kara Warner

One drawback in making comic book movies, particularly those that involve one of the most recognizable characters of all time, is that no matter how excited fans are about the project, the people involved with the film aren't allowed to talk about it.

Case in point, Zack Snyder's super (pun intended) highly-anticipated "Superman" reboot, tentatively titled "Man of Steel." When MTV News caught up with the director during the press day for his epic action fantasy "Sucker Punch" on Friday (March 18), we did our best to squeeze some information out of him about the direction in which he plans to take the film. But try as we might, Snyder's lips were mostly sealed.

"It's a super-secret thing!" he said after a few failed attempts at getting some scoop. "It's like building a stealth bomber."

That said, despite our seemingly stealthy line of questioning, we were only able to eke out a few thoughts from Snyder regarding his choice for the film's lead actor, Henry Cavill, versus his second choice, "True Blood" actor Joe Manganiello.

"Henry's just ... I love Joe too, by the way," Snyder said. "Really he was the only other guy I was thinking of, to be honest, other than Henry. But in the end, I think Henry just has this innocence too [in addition to the look and physicality required for the role], he has both, which is tricky," he explained. "Superman needs the teeniest bit of that. Not to be overt, but you like it to be there ever so slightly. I mean, he grew up in Kansas, that's just true, so you need a little of that [innocence]."

Regarding Snyder's rumored plans to make his new Superman more physical, the "300" director once again laughed at our detail-oriented line of questioning.

"I can't answer that!" he exclaimed, and then complimented our detail-digging efforts. "Because if I say, that is what will be the thing [that everyone will run with]."

Robert Pattinson Dishes On Awkward Love Scenes

We've heard Robert Pattinson talk about his love scenes before. "Lot of my crack in it!" he once laughed to us about what we can expect in the upcoming drama "Bel Ami." And we've even seen photographic evidence of his honeymoon boom-boom with Kristen Stewart in November's first installment of "Breaking Dawn."

But when it comes to Pattinson's amorous encounters onscreen, his fans can never get enough. It's no surprise then that one Twitter user submitted a question during "MTV First: Robert Pattinson" asking if the actor felt awkward doing love scenes with "Water for Elephants" co-star Reese Witherspoon.

Awkward, no. Sick? Well, yes.

"The love scene in this, I was doing it when I had a really bad cold," Pattinson explained. "I'm not generally that awkward doing stuff apart from when I've got my belly coming out. But my nose is running all over the place and it was in one of the additional photography scenes, and Reese had this wig on, and literally, I was wiping my nose on her wig."

"We were doing this really passionate love scene," he added with a giggle. "It was really stupid. I guess I'm not that awkward anymore."

The key with any love scene, Pattinson went on to make clear, is that it has to make sense within the context of the story. You can't just get freaky in front of the camera because someone thinks it'll boost ticket sales.

"It always depends. You've got to really know what you're doing. If it's just a sort of arbitrary love scene, it'd be quite difficult," he said.

And what of his scene with Stewart in "Breaking Dawn," the one we got an early, feather-filled glimpse of in January? Rob hesitated before saying simply, "The one on 'Breaking Dawn' is pretty funny."

After her spirited set during Wednesday's opening night of Lil Wayne's I Am Still Music Tour in Rhode Island, it's hard to imagine Nicki Minaj ever getting butterflies onstage.

According to the Young Money queen, the performance was a far cry from her humble beginnings onstage when she used to perform mixtape cuts alongside Wayne. For starters, she was far less jittery. "It's funny, because I remember coming on, doing 30 seconds of 'Can't Stop, Won't Stop' [from Lil Wayne's Da Drought 3]," Nicki recalled to MTV News. "I was nervous for 30 seconds, and then when I came back [on tour], I was doing three minutes. Now to have my own set, it's crazy!"

After the show, the Queens lyricist spoke about finally performing a full set of her own songs. "It's the first time I get to show me: my theatrics, my craziness, my sense of humor. A lot of times when I was doing features, I didn't feel that it was my place to kinda interject certain things. I don't wanna be rude to anyone's set."

On Wednesday, Nicki seized the opportunity, as she emerged from underneath the stage to begin her 30-minute slot. The rap bombshell thrilled fans as she ran through songs like "Roman's Revenge," "Right Thru Me" and the current single from her Pink Friday debut, "Moment 4 Life." She even gave a male fan a lap dance while Sean Kingston's "Letting Go" played through the venue's speakers.

Even with all the excitement, Nicki promised that the show will only get better as the tour goes on. "It was exhilarating," she said. "This is actually the first show, so what you saw tonight is nothing close to what the show is going to be."

B.o.B Says Fans Will 'Be Surprised' By His New Album

'You'll definitely see new music this year,' he says at South by Southwest.
By James Montgomery

AUSTIN, Texas — B.o.B's debut disc topped the Billboard albums chart and spawned a pair of smash singles, and, in the process, transformed him from a hotly tipped underground artist to one of the brightest stars in hip-hop.

As he begins work on the follow-up to The Adventures of Bobby Ray, is it possible for him to top that album's success? Even he doesn't know the answer to that question — but he's willing to give it his best shot.

"I would have to parallel my album coming out to losing your virginity," he told MTV News at the South by Southwest festival. "The first time you have sex is way more exciting than the second time. Not that the second time isn't exciting, it's just ... the initial excitement of finally having that first album.

"I think that people will definitely be surprised at the music they hear on the second album," he added. "I don't think they would expect that coming from me."

And while details of the new album are still scarce — switching from sexual metaphors to sports metaphors, B.o.B said he's "just at the end of the first quarter" of the recording process — he's already planning to give fans a taste of his new material very soon.

"There's probably going to be some surprises. There's no telling what the next three quarters will be like," he said. "We should be seeing something very soon. Even if not an album, you'll definitely see new music this year."

And though he might be changing things up for album number two, B.o.B isn't going to stray far from the concept that brought him so much success with Bobby Ray: Specifically, avoiding any and all preconceived notions of what hip-hop should be. Which, in one way, is probably going to make his album feel very much like the first time.

"You should never get comfortable," he said. "I feel like, for me, I embrace everything."

What do you expect B.o.B's next album to sound like? Tell us in the comments!

Robert Pattinson Says Making 'Water For Elephants' Was 'Magical'

'I just wanted to show I can be Jacob too,' he jokes to MTV News about his character's 'Twilight'-ready name.
By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz

Robert Pattinson

"MTV First: Robert Pattinson" was barely seconds old before the man of the hour started to feel just a little bit overwhelmed. After we told him that his fans had tweeted in 50,000 questions, he cracked, "Do I have to answer every single one?"

Considering that would probably require Pattinson to hang around with us until the first part of "Breaking Dawn" hits theaters in November, we'll let the guy off the hook. But before we even hit the first of our Twitter questions, we revealed an exclusive "Water for Elephants" clip and asked Rob about shooting the upcoming drama opposite Reese Witherspoon.

"It felt like it was kind of magical in many ways, because we were out in the desert shooting," he said. "There was nothing from the modern world around. It was a different experience for me. It wasn't in a studio or anything."

Sure, it was different, but there remains something oddly familiar about "Water for Elephants": a sweeping romantic story, a love triangle and a character named Jacob. Sound a bit like "Twilight," anyone? The twist, though, is that this time Pattinson is the one playing Jacob.

"I just wanted to show I can be Jacob too. That's the only reason I did the movie. I just looked at the name. There was an elephant, my name is Jacob — done," he said, adding with a laugh, "The next movie I'm doing, I'm called Taylor in it."

The movie is definitely a major step in his career, as he leaps from a blockbuster vampire franchise to a major studio project co-starring Oscar winners Witherspoon and Cristoph Waltz. Only after production wrapped and he began to make the press rounds, though, did he begin to get a bit anxious.

"I wasn't nervous at all until I started doing interviews for it and I realized I actually did a movie," he told us. "It was just really fun while I was doing it. And now I remembered I actually made a movie. I think it's going to be great. It's really beautiful. It was really fun making it, so hopefully it will reflect in the movie."

'Hunger Games' Experts Weigh In On Jennifer Lawrence's Casting

Posted: 18 Mar 2011 03:05 AM PDT

'In 'Winter's Bone,' you can see that she can handle anything that's thrown at her,' Down With the Capitol's Theresa Morgan tells MTV News.
By Amy Wilkinson

Photo: Dan Kitwood/Getty Images

On Thursday, MTV News exclusively revealed that Jennifer Lawrence had landed the highly coveted role of Katniss Everdeen in the big-screen adaptation of Suzanne Collins' dystopian thriller "The Hunger Games."

The announcement capped months of speculation regarding who would enter the arena as District 12's female tribute. It seemed nearly every actress under the age of 25 had auditioned for the role, including fellow Oscar nominees Hailee Steinfeld and Abigail Breslin. Now that fans know Jennifer will carry Katniss' bow and arrow, reactions — largely mixed — have been flooding the internet.

The chief gripe from some is that the tall, blond 20-year-old doesn't resemble the novel's scrappy 16-year-old heroine described as olive-skinned and dark-haired.

"People are like, 'She shouldn't be Katniss because she looks wrong,' " said Mockingjay.net administrator Kimmy West. "Other people are telling them, 'Hey, acting is more important, and she's an amazing actress, so we should keep our minds open for the movie.' "

To wit, many Jennifer supporters cite the actress' performance in the Oscar-nominated "Winter's Bone" as reason enough for her to take up residence in Panem.

"She's extremely talented," said Down With the Capitol administrator Theresa Morgan. "In 'Winter's Bone,' you can see that she can handle anything that's thrown at her."

Age is also a factor working in Jennifer's favor. Though she's four years older than the novel's heroine, The Hob administrator Megan Scott said an older actress is needed to portray the older-than-her-years Katniss.

"Some people don't like it that she's a little bit older. Personally, I think it's great," Scott said. "I think she needs to bring maturity to the role."

The fact that the novel's author gave Jennifer her seal of approval has assured many fans that the fate of "The Hunger Games" is in good hands.

"Jennifer's just an incredible actress," Collins said. "So powerful, vulnerable, beautiful, unforgiving and brave. I never thought we'd find somebody this perfect for the role. And I can't wait for everyone to see her play it."

And, as many YA enthusiasts may recall, fans were initially hesitant to accept Robert Pattinson in the role of "Twilight" leading man Edward Cullen, and now Twilighters can't imagine anyone else as their vampire hero. The true test will come when "The Hunger Games" hits theaters March 23, 2012.

On Thursday, Rob Kardashian turned 24, but MTV asked the reality star to rewind the clock a few years and reflect on life at 17.

In the new episode of "When I Was 17," Kim, Khloé and Kourtney Kardashian's baby brother revealed that he was quite the athlete, albeit it a hot-tempered one, seven years ago when he competed in his high school's cross-country team.

As Rob's stepfather, Bruce Jenner, told MTV, "Rob had a very good cross-country career, and he won a lot of big races."

One of those big wins lead Rob and his teammates to a championship race during his senior year. "No one had ever done that in our school, so that was a big accomplishment," he said.

But, things were about to go terribly awry for Rob at the three-plus-mile race in which, as Bruce recalled, there were "hundreds and hundreds of people there."

"At the end of a lot of races, the runners tend to just stop right after the finish line," Rob explained, "but the officials want to keep you going because you're holding up the guys that are behind you."

Unfortunately, Rob was about to have a collision with one of those very officials — literally! After an impressive finish in the top 20 runners, the "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" star's arm was grabbed by an official.

That didn't sit well with Rob, who was already feeling "exhausted and probably about to vomit." After yelling at the official to "Get your f---in' hands off me" and throwing him to the ground, Rob and the rest of his teammates were disqualified from the race.

Watch Rob Kardashian, "Top Chef" judge Padma Lakshmi and daytime talk-show host Wendy Williams recall more stories from their high school years in a new episode of "When I Was 17," airing at 11 a.m. Saturday on MTV.

'American Idol' In 60 Seconds: Haley Reinhart Steals Seacrest's DNA!

America said 'adios' to Karen Rodriguez on birth-year songs week.
By Jim Cantiello

This week's "American Idol" in 60 Seconds video recap, embedded below, deals with all the missed opportunities and crushing disappointments our nation faced while watching season 10's "Birth Year Songs" episode.

Casey Abrams' underwhelming "Smells Like a Bad Imitation" Nirvana cover hardly seemed worth the pomp and circumstance it received. The Nirvana on "Idol" seal has been broken, yes, but it was done in an unfortunately inept way. The only thing that would have been more misguided was Scotty McCreery warbling "Rape Me" with his signature smirk.

Instead, Scotty sang his first love song to any teenage girl who has a deep-voice fetish, while Haley Reinhart channeled Miss Yvonne's makeup meltdown with a deranged Whitney Houston cover that ended with Seacrest rubbing his saliva all over her face. (Haley's diabolical plan to steal Seacrest DNA worked.) Jacob Lusk rubbed his "stank" all over Heart's "Alone," meaning he sang in a register that drove cats in the greater Los Angeles area wild.

James Durbin's tail grew back but it was his cajones that were truly enlarged this week, when he somehow convinced Steven Tyler to rock with him at the finale. No wonder Tyler cursed live on the air. He'd been hoodwinked!

Paul McDonald continued his headlining "Shake and Baked" tour with a sickly "I Guess That's Why They Call It the Blues" that was so confounding, even he shrugged afterwards. Naima also retreated with a generic and pitchy "What's Love Got to Do With It?" And Thia Megia sang that "Pocahontas" song. Obviously.

Pia Toscano and Stefano Langone proved that Italians do it better. "It" referring to singing power-ballads really loudly and dramatically.

The results show included duets with Lee DeWyze and his facial hair, Pia Toscano and her s---zu, as well as will.i.am and his cockapoo, Fergie. Then America said, "No me gusta" to Karen Rodriguez.

See you on MySpace, K-Rod!

Matthew McConaughey Harnesses His Salesman Roots In 'Lincoln Lawyer'

'Always have a joker up your sleeve,' actor tells MTV News of the trick to law and sales.

In "The Lincoln Lawyer," Matthew McConaughey plays unconventional defense attorney Mick Haller, a man who goes to great — and sometimes questionable — lengths to prove a client's innocence. He also conducts most of his business from the backseat of his Lincoln, bringing new life to the phrase "wheelin' and dealin'."

When MTV News caught up with McConaughey during the press day for the film, we learned some fun facts about the actor's past. First, he loves lawyers and debate and wanted to be a lawyer until his junior year in college (when he switched his major to film production). Second, McConaughey revealed that he didn't have to stretch too far to harness the wheelin' and dealin' aspects of his character.

"I come from a long line of salesmen," McConaughey said. "My father and my older brother are pipe salesmen. That's wheelin' and dealin'. I've always appreciated good salesmen. There's an art to selling. You play a different part with different clients. You don't talk to the head of the biker gang the same way you talk to the rich father in Beverly Hills or the rich mother in Beverly Hills who wants her son off and has a million dollars to put up for it; you talk to those people differently."

McConaughey went on to say that salesmen wear different hats as part of the hustle involved in the business.

"You don't show all your cards. Always have a joker up your sleeve," he said, flashing that famous sly smile.

We then asked if that bit of advice is part of his philosophy about life as well.

"[It's] pretty good to have a joker up your sleeve, it helps," he said. "You might not need it, but there are times where you go, 'Oh, there it is. Cool.' "

North Carolina rapper Petey Pablo faces up to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty in federal court to gun charges resulting from his attempt to board a plane with a firearm on September 11, 2010, according to The Associated Press.

According to original reports, Pablo (born Moses Barrett III) was arrested when security at Raleigh-Durham International Airport found a Smith & Wesson 639 in his carry-on luggage. According to reports, the rapper was on his way to Los Angeles to attend the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards.

Pablo claimed he didn't know the gun was in the bag but was still charged with possession of a stolen firearm, carrying a concealed weapon and attempting to take a gun onto an aircraft. On Wednesday, the rapper — who is best known for his singles "Raise Up" and "Freek-a-Leek" — reached an agreement and pleaded guilty to the possession of a stolen firearm charge. The remaining two charges were dropped and the rapper faces sentencing in June.

Prior to making his rap debut, Pablo served six years of a 14-year jail bid for armed robbery. In 2001, he released his debut album, Diary of a Sinner: 1st Entry, and saw the LP's single "Raise Up" peak at #25 on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2004, he once again rose to prominence thanks to his hit single "Freek-a-Leek" (#7 on the Hot 100) from his sophomore album Still Writing in My Diary: 2nd Entry. That same year, Pablo appeared on R&B singer Ciara's breakout single "Goodies." He reappeared with a meager hit in "Show Me the Money," a song from the soundtrack to the 2006 film "Step Up," but Pablo has made little to no musical noise since.

'Limitless': Five Secrets Revealed

Director Neil Burger takes us behind the scenes of Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro's new thriller.

There is a scene midway through "Limitless" in which Abbie Cornish's character is running through a park, attempting to escape a guy intent on gutting her like a fish. Unsure how to get away, she swallows a black-market drug called NZT — a little pill allowing her to access 100 percent of her mind — and scans the park for possible weapons: a pair of gardening sheers or a baseball bat, perhaps?

Then she sees a little girl on ice skates off in the distance. Bingo! She races toward the rink as the evil dude gives chase, then picks up the girl and uses her ice skates to slice her enemy's face. It's a wackily kinetic scene in a thriller filled with such moments. The only problem for director Neil Burger was casting the girl to take part in the madness.

"Luckily, the stunt people were completely game to offer up their child to be thrown through the air!" Burger laughed in a recent conversation with MTV News.

And that, it turns out, is how Piper Brown, daughter of Jill Brown (whose stunt credits include "The Green Hornet" and "I Am Legend"), made her big-screen debut. "It was our first day of shooting, which is an insane way to begin," Burger said. We had to do it in one day with 200 extras on the ice, plus the crew, and we're just powering through everyone with cameras and cranes."

That's just one of the untold stories behind the production of "Limitless" we picked up during a recent conversation with Burger. Before checking out the film, which hit theaters Friday (March 18), check out four more "Limitless" secrets revealed:

Why Is NZT a Clear Pill?
In creating a fictional drug for the big screen, Burger and his team could have gone in any direction. NZT could have been something you swallow or smoke or, heck, even something used as a suppository reminiscent of a troubling scene in "Trainspotting." But following the book on which the movie is based, they stuck with a pill. What, however, would the pill that Bradley Cooper's character gets hooked on look like?

"Right up to the end, we were thinking about what this pill would be," Burger explained. "Sometimes we thought it'd have these beveled edges or a different colored center, but it started to look like a hundred other things you've seen, from a Lifesaver to Skittles. Then we stumbled onto one that was clear, and I knew it was just perfect. It sums up exactly what it does for him."

What Exactly Does NZT Do?
Though the story is based on a novel by Alan Glynn, it was up to Burger to "invent the rules of the drug," as he put it. How does it affect Cooper's Eddie Morra? What would happen if Eddie suddenly couldn't get his fix?

"I worked on it on my own, because I had to become an authority on it with the actors and crew," he added. "It became that you don't get high or wired or stoned. You were just clear and knew what to do and how to get it done."

Along those lines, Burger didn't refer to any existing drugs, because there's nothing on Earth like NZT. "I didn't do research. I just decided what I wanted the drug to be. I wanted Eddie to become the perfect version of himself. I wanted him to remember everything he's ever seen. It's not that it makes him into Superman. It makes him fearless, and he's able to access information instantaneously."

How Did They Pull Off Those Ultra-Long Zooming Shots?
Often when Eddie is on NZT, the camera pushes through the cityscape in a long, seemingly continuous shot, pushing forward for miles without stop. It's a very cool visual effect, one unlike we've ever seen. How the heck did they pull off what Burger calls "infinity zooms"?

"I started looking at fractals," he told us. "I liked the idea that each part they're made up of is a mirror of the whole. And I looked at fractal zooms, where you push into the fractal, going from shape to shape, an Escher-like movement. That was how Eddie's mind worked: these microcosms that mirrored a larger sense of the world. I wanted to bring that idea into the city and have it be like a fractal zoom. It was a great way to show how he perceived space and time.

"So I had a very clear idea of how I wanted to do it, and nobody could figure out how to do it," he explained. "I found a visual-effects company that finally figured it out — and it's a bit of a secret, because it's a new thing. We were able to move the camera through the city and then visually stitch it all together, but you can't see where the seams are."

Why Did They Change Eddie's Job From Copywriter to Novelist?
In Glynn's book, Eddie is a struggling copywriter. In the book, he's a struggling novelist. Why was it important to change his job?

"It was important to make him an artist with aspirations toward greatness, and it just wasn't happening. A copywriter just wasn't going to communicate that," Burger said. "He had to have the big dream. We all want to be a rock star or a pro basketball player or Warren Buffet, but then when push comes to shove, we aren't those things — we can't be those things. He was just one more guy who had this big dream, and he couldn't achieve it, even though he wanted to. NZT could let him achieve that dream, and then a whole lot more."

Just one day after announcing she was set to begin work on her latest Femme Fatale music video, for "Till the World Ends," Britney Spears tweeted a photo of herself on the set late Thursday.

Donning ripped tights, a studded leather jacket, matching fingerless leather gloves and a black bralette, Spears is pictured drinking a bottle of water. Her hair is mussed, her makeup sexy and smoky, and she is looking out onto the set.

"Day 1 of the #TTWE Videoshoot," she tweeted. "Just wrapped my first big dance number. Taking a well deserved break people!"

She is working on the video for her second single with Norwegian director and photographer Ray Kay, who has worked with Lady Gaga, the Backstreet Boys, Beyoncé and Justin Bieber.

The video will be shot in L.A. No date has been set for the video's premiere.

Kay tweeted about the news Thursday, writing, "Guess who's set to direct Britney Spears' new video? Yay! Its going to be amazing."

Another behind-the-scenes photo also hit the Web: Taken from an aerial view, the video's dancers, dressed in all black, are seen hanging out by craft services on the set.

Spears recently spoke to Ryan Seacreast about the Ke$ha-penned track, noting her enthusiasm for the song. " 'Till the World Ends' is fun! It's fun. I like it.

It's good energy," she said of the track, which was produced by Dr. Luke, Max Martin and Billboard. "I'm a vibe person, and I think I love good-mood songs, and if it puts me in a good mood, it clicks for me."

Joe Jonas promised that on his forthcoming solo album, he's going to be singing about his life, and that means songs about some very famous ladies might make the final cut. Songwriter Claude Kelly, who has been working with Joe in a New York studio, said that nothing is being held back.

"My process when I go in with an artist is to ask them right off the bat, 'What's going on in your life?' ... and he hasn't held back at all," Kelly dished to MTV News. "He's like, 'I want to talk about this girl or how hot she is or we're breaking up or we're together.' He'll say it, and he'll put his life in the song, which makes the best songs."

With names like Taylor Swift, Ashley Greene (who he very recently broke up with) and Camilla Belle floating around in Joe's dating past, it seems that this inside scoop will make for some fun listening. "It's gonna be good, absolutely," Kelly added. "And that's the fun part: to let [fans] figure it out and let them listen to it over and over and dissect those parts. So, I was blown away about how together he was on this record and how willing he was to take chances."

Kelly and Joe have worked on two songs together, and Kelly said he's eager to see what the two of them can cook up next. "I was really impressed with his artistry," he said. "He really knows what he wants. His vocals are really awesome, range-wise."

Joe, who already has legions of girls drooling over his hunkiness, plans to up that hot-guy ante on this record. "Obviously, he's a sex symbol already, but he's really gonna play into a sex-symbol role and get the girls on his side," Kelly revealed. "He's doing edgier, more urban music. I've been working with [producer] Danja. It's edgy, urban pop where he can showcase his voice in a way people haven't heard him before. So, he's singing more edgy things and the music is more mature, but fun still."

PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island — With the rap world still mourning the death of hip-hop hook singer Nate Dogg, who passed away at the age of 41 on Monday, MTV News caught up with Miami hit-maker Rick Ross to get his thoughts on Nate's legacy.

"It's a great loss to the game. I feel like [he had] one of the biggest voices hip-hop has ever heard," said Ross, who is currently on the road as a part of Lil Wayne's I Am Still Music tour (formerly known as the I Am Music II tour). "If you could've pulled off a Nate Dogg [feature], you was gonna hit the charts, homey, and you was gonna get love, because he just had that kind of commanding voice that everybody loved."

Ross also went on to reveal a deeper connection to the fallen icon. Even though the two were first introduced on the video set of the Ludacris and Nate Dogg collaboration "Area Codes" back in 2001, Ross and the crooner shared a connection to the small town of Clarksdale, Mississippi.

"Nate Dogg's family really originated in Mississippi, and I have family that's from that same small town," Ross said. "So I've been hearing Nate Dogg on different levels for so many years and so many years."

According to The Associated Press, Nate Dogg's lawyer Mark Geragos revealed that the crooner had succumbed to complications stemming from a number of strokes that he suffered in 2007 and 2008.
