'Take Me Home Tonight' Stars Teach The Kids About The '80s

Anna Faris thinks of 'big bangs, shoulder pads and jelly shoes' when she looks back at the decade.

In addition to being an entertaining and raunchy romantic comedy, "Take Me Home Tonight," which features the acting and comedic talents of Topher Grace, Anna Faris, Teresa Palmer and Dan Fogler, is also a cinematic homage to the 1980s.

When MTV News caught up with the cast, we asked them to explain to the younger generations what the '80s were all about — check out the embedded video to really get a feel for their trip down memory lane.

"It's like 'Glee,' " Faris said with a laugh.

"Is it like 'Glee'?" Fogler questioned his co-star.

"I don't know," she said, second-guessing herself.

"How would you describe that decade to them?" Fogler followed up, taking over the interviewer job.

"It was a time when the music was so influential and the style, it was so specific to the '80s," Faris explained. "You know, the big bangs and the shoulder pads and the jelly shoes."

"It's in your face!" Fogler interjected. "No one really apologized for what they were wearing or doing."

Faris agreed: "Yeah, women wore a lot of super high-waisted bikinis — which men, I think, still kind of like."

"They do, because you saw more of the pelvis than you normally would," Fogler explained, adding that the trend should make a comeback.

Grace and Palmer took a different track in describing the '80s. Grace chose to call out several famous music videos from our MTV archives in order to "describe" what was happening during the decade.

"Let's play a couple of [music videos] right now," Grace instructed, proceeding to name his favorite '80s artists and their hit songs. "Duran Duran, 'Girls on Film' — go! OK, 'Hungry Like the Wolf,' go to that video," he said. "That is the opening-credit scene [for 'Take Me Home Tonight']. OK, now we are back. Now, do 'Video Killed the Radio Star,' " he said. "The first video ever played on MTV. This video was going on when I was watching MTV."

"He's good!" Palmer added, not able to comment properly on the happenings back in the day, since she was born in 1986.

What are your favorite '80s videos or trends? Tell us in the comments!

Wiz Khalifa And Snoop Dogg: An Unlikely Chemistry

'It's amazing the way two people are the same kind of people from two different generations,' Snoop says of his younger collaborator.
By Steven Roberts

Wiz Khalifa and Snoop Dogg share a few uncanny similarities. Yes, they're both tall and lanky and (allegedly) quite fond of marijuana, but they have even more in common. Their music and laid-back, positive personalities have a universal appeal that seems to transcend genre, gender, race and class.

And Snoop can thank his eldest son for bridging the generation gap between the artists. When MTV News caught up with Snoop recently, he said he had his son to thank for introducing him to Wiz's music.

"I never knew him, but my oldest son used to play his music all throughout his house, and I'd be like, 'Who is this mother----er he is playing?' " Snoop said. "I'll be going downstairs, and I'd hear it in the bathroom downstairs and then I'd hear it upstairs. I'm like, 'Man, who is this?' Then I got hip to him and I started peepin' him and watching him and listening, and I'm like, 'Man, this guy is fly.' "

Snoop loved the fact that Wiz shared the hometown of his favorite football team, the Pittsburgh Steelers — as well as the fact that he loved to smoke just as much as Snoop did — so he said he had to reach out to the Taylor Gang general. Wiz accepted his invitation to come out and hang at Snoop's studio. The two recorded some music and shot a video for the "Black and Yellow" remix. He said Wiz even came back to stay another week. In fact, this buddy comedy waiting to happen actually spawned ... a buddy comedy.

"We created a movie called 'High School,' created like six songs, and we're looking forward to dropping that later on this year."

Snoop said that the movie was a joint venture between the two and he hoped it would become a cult classic like "Half Baked," "Animal House" or a Cheech and Chong flick. He was amazed at how similar he and Wiz are despite their age difference.

"It's amazing the way two people are the same kind of people from two different generations, but we're cut from the same cloth."

'American Idol' Top 12 Girls: Thia Megia, Pia Toscano Show Star Power

Ashthon Jones and teen Lauren Alaina also had strong showings.

The fellas had their chance on Tuesday night, so on Wednesday (March 2), this year's "American Idol" top 12 women took the stage in an effort to earn their place in the finals.

By night's end, Pia Toscano and Ashthon Jones emerged as the ones to beat, while teens Thia Megia and Lauren Alaina appeared to have also punched their cards into the top 10.

Beyoncé impersonator Ta-Tynisa Wilson, 20, did the honors and went first, singing Rihanna's "Only Girl (In the World)," while wearing a geometric-patterned poodle skirt. Though she looked the part, her thin, squeaky vocals were way off and the band's tinny new wave arrangement did her no favors.

Jennifer Lopez said it started off shaky, but she liked how Wilson played to the crowd and disagreed strongly with Randy Jackson, who wasn't afraid to say it was just a'ight and didn't really show anything unique.

One of the most promising singers, 26-year-old Milwaukee stadium attendant Naima Adedapo isn't just a great singer, she also designed the beautiful canary-yellow Geisha-inspired dress that she wore while singing one of her favorite tunes, the "Porgy and Bess" classic "Summertime." Bringing a finger-snapping, sultry sass to the oft-sung tune, Adedapo worked the stage, the crowd and the judges while showing off her rich range and effortless, Erykah Badu-like star quality.

J.Lo called her "an exotic flower in a rose garden," but once again Randy ... not so much. He called it lounge act-y and a pale comparison to former "Idol" champ Fantasia's version, noting that she pulled it off at the finish with a strong note.

Former bathtub saleswoman Kendra Chantelle, 22, slowed things down with a slinky take on Christina Aguilera's "Impossible." Wearing skintight black leather pants and a body-hugging top, she didn't try to out-diva the troubled pop star, but instead just sang a competent, growly version of the lesser-known ballad accented by a small end-run of notes.

Jackson was worried when he heard Chantelle was going to sing the tune, but praised her vibrato and compared it to Lauryn Hill's. "You did it again, voice hot, clothes hot, style hot," said Steven Tyler, who clearly was enjoying the visual and the audio show during the performance.

This year's resident oddball Rachel Zevita has finally gotten her shot after four years of trying, and the 23-year-old didn't disappoint, coming out in a black cape and shedding it with a flurry to reveal a short red dress. She gave Fiona Apple's breakthrough 1996 hit "Criminal" a jazzbo tilt, missing a lot of the notes, but putting lots of energy and sass into the performance.

"I loved your strut, I loved your swagger, I loved your moves," Tyler said. "A little too Broadway for me, not that that's a bad thing, Broadway could be your niche." Zevita said she'd never really sung like that before, which led Lopez to wonder why she chose that song and arrangement and whether she aims to be a contemporary star. "It wasn't great, it wasn't good," Randy said simply.

Fiery Latina singer Karen Rodriguez, 21, went the full ballad route with another "Idol" staple, Mariah Carey's "Hero." Her vocals were solid, but she threw a curveball by going the funky bilingual route and singing half the lyrics in Spanish.

"Wow, wow, wow," Lopez enthused, showing off her goose bumps. Randy was finally glad to hear someone make a song their own, suggesting the lyrics sounded even better in Spanish than English. "Definitely a one-of-a-kind singer," Steven added, suggesting she hook up with male frontrunner Jacob Lusk for a duet.

Louisiana housekeeper and Bette Midler doppelgänger Lauren Turner went topical (peep the lyrics about scrubbing dirty floors) with Etta James' "Seven Day Fool." She showed spunk and showcased her rich R&B growl, but the performance seemed a bit old-fashioned for "Idol."

Not just because she's an L.A. homegirl, but Randy loved it, calling it a fresh mashup between Amy Winehouse and Florence and the Machine. Tyler agreed, dubbing the performance "spectacular" and admiring the way it went from down low to way up high and everywhere in between.

Nashville's Ashthon Jones, 24, got seductive with Monica's suggestive "Love All Over Me," giving the ladies in the crowd multiple shout-outs and showing off a bit with some big, meaty runs and power notes.

"You've got the confidence of a queen and you sing so sweet," Tyler said. "You go places with your voice few have gone." Because she knows, Lopez said Jones had all the makings of a diva: the big hair, the body, the moves, the composure and the confidence.

Hollywood's Julie Zorrilla, 20, took a big gamble with season-one winner Kelly Clarkson's "Breakaway," coming out tentative with shaky vocals and not much personality, mostly failing to give the song that signature spark Randy's been looking for.

The judges weren't feeling it. Lopez said it was not great and lacked a connection to the lyrics and personality, while Randy, shocker, said it paled in comparison to Clarkson's original. Personality-plus singer Haley Reinhart poured into a tight black mini-dress and made love to the audience during Alicia Keys' "Fallin'," throwing in some growly accents, shoulder rolls and high runs in an attempt to make the song her own.

Again, Jackson didn't think it did anything for Reinhart, missing her husky, Janis Joplin-like tone, though Steven said it had the right amount of sexy rasp, attitude and vocal coloration.

Next up were the season's two youngest female contestants, starting with 16-year-old Thia Megia, who brought things all the way down with the Irene Cara "Fame" classic "Out Here on My Own." Singing in a spotlight a cappella at first, Megia once again showed precocious talents, belting out the ballad with confidence and a powerhouse voice.

"Sometimes a person's pitch can be so perfect it doesn't matter what song they sing," Tyler gushed, marveling at the talent she's amassed at her young age. Lopez loved the captivating, quiet confidence and Randy said the quality of Megia's tone was dead-on, again comparing it to the late Michael Jackson.

Fellow youngster, Georgia firecracker and early favorite Lauren Alaina, 16, has proven expert at working the judges and she mixed it up a bit with Reba McEntire's country stomper "Turn on the Radio." The vocals were a bit shaky at times, but Alaina confidently worked the stage and got the crowd hyped with her infectious energy.

"You don't even have to try ... the voice is just so effortless," Lopez said, marveling at Alaina's natural talent, while Jackson said the high-schooler doesn't even realize how much potential she has.

The night's final slot belonged to Pia Toscano, 22, the raven-haired former makeup artist who opted for the Pretenders' go-to singing competition staple "I'll Stand By You." She looked like a star in her glittery black cocktail dress and sang a solid version of the tune, hitting her mark in a slightly overwrought arrangement and ending with some big, showy notes at the end that sounded flat on TV, but clearly moved the crowd.

And the judges, who jumped up to give her a standing ovation as Randy guaranteed Toscano earned a spot in the top 10. "You were saving that for when it counts ... it was out of this world," Lopez added.

"Idol" returns on Thursday night for the results show, when five men and five women will move into the top 10 and the judges will make their wild card picks.

Britney Spears Works With Travis Barker For Femme Fatale

After Rodney Jerkins discusses 'out-of-the-box' track, a rep for Barker confirms collabo to MTV News.

In a recent interview with MTV News, producer Rodney Jerkins said that, on her upcoming Femme Fatale album, Britney Spears got "hands-on," supplying him with "a lot of ideas" and helping shape the energetic sound of the project.

"She's great. She gets it," Jerkins said. "She is a top-notch veteran pro at this now."

So it should probably come as no surprise that, somewhere along the line, Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker came to be involved in recording the album — because, while we're not sure if bringing him onboard was Britney's idea, he is most certainly the kind who can bring the energy.

And, as Jerkins said in a recent sit-down with Headline News' "Showbiz Tonight," the experience of working with Spears and Barker was a new one for everyone involved.

"I'm really excited. ... I did two songs on her album, and one of the songs I did, I brought in Travis Barker, and it's got this rock feel which is out of the box, out of my norm, and I think it's out of her norm as well," Jerkins said. "We had a great time making this record."

Jerkins didn't elaborate on much else about the Barker song or Britney's album, saying only that the project is "classic Britney spears, uptempo heavy, of course. It's new and different."

A spokesperson for Barker confirmed to MTV News that the collaboration happened "about a month ago" but, much like Jerkins, wouldn't reveal any additional details of the song. Spears' Femme Fatale is due March 29.

Lil Wayne Talks Signing Drake And Nicki Minaj

A Lil Wayne verse can make an already good song even better, as evidenced by his monstrous 16 bars on DJ Khaled's "We Takin' Over." And when Wayne was putting together the roster for his then-burgeoning Young Money empire, he knew he needed someone who could take his company to the next level in the same manner.

Enter Drake.

"The first thing I said was this kid's a superstar," Weezy told MTV News about his introduction to Drizzy. "I don't think you can remember, but I did some interviews back then when they were asking me about him and I said he's better than me. I can't sing. I can make a song, but this kid has the actual R&B presence. Then he's one of the dopest lyricists. That right there, he has a welcoming appearance. I knew he was something bigger than something I had envisioned for my company when I ran into this kid. I was thinking I'm going to put my people on and we're going to be all right, but then when I ran into this kid, I was like, this a superstar, he's got a chance to make my company something for real, something to be thought of, to be remembered."

Since that time, of course, Drake has skyrocketed to the top with a standout mixtape, So Far Gone, and a successful debut album, Thank Me Later.

What Lil Wayne didn't know at the time he assembled the YM crew, however, was that he'd have two franchise stars, the second being Nicki Minaj, who also ascended to superstardom in her own right.

As a result of signing both rappers, Wayne has managed to turn himself into a mogul on par with Diddy, Jay-Z and his boss, Cash Money's Birdman.

"I can't front, I just thought she was going to be the new female MC that none of these other female MCs can touch," Wayne said about Nicki. "But now, she's blossomed into a megastar with this new attitude and this style. Now when I talk to her, I just tell her, 'Do what you do, baby.' I used to be able to go into the studio and say, 'Nah, don't say that, don't say that.' You know, 'That was better.' Now, do what you do, baby. I don't have a clue about what you're doing right now, but it's working, do it."

Pia Toscano Brings 'American Idol' Audience To Its Feet

Judges praise 21-year-old's powerhouse Performance of the Pretenders' 'I'll Stand By You.'
By Adam Graham

On a night when Thia Megia gave a quiet, confident performance well beyond her 15 years and teen Lauren Alaina was compared to both Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood, it was nevertheless Pia Toscano who stole the show on Wednesday's (March 2) "American Idol."

Toscano, who anchored the episode with the final performance of the evening, took on the Pretenders' "I'll Stand By You" and knocked it out of the park, building to a series of powerful glory notes in the closing moments that brought the entire studio audience — her fellow contestants and the judges included — to its feet.

The soaring anthem, from the Pretenders' 1994 album Last of the Independents, has a bit of "Idol" history of its own: Gina Glocksen sang it as a contestant back in season six, but more memorably, Carrie Underwood sang it during the "Idol Gives Back" special that same year. The song became a top 10 single for Underwood, peaking at #6 on Billboard's Hot 100; it remains her second-highest charting Hot 100 single to date. (Underwood took it higher than even the Pretenders did; their version topped out at #16.)

Toscano, the 21-year-old New Yorker who tried out for "Idol" during the New Jersey auditions, was resplendent on Wednesday in a sleek, black mini-dress. Following her performance, which was as assured as it was controlled, she held her hands in front of her mouth as Randy Jackson reminded her of the standing O she had just received and then told her that her performance immediately ranked among the best performances in the show's history. "That was unbelievable," the Dawg told her. "That's how you do it!"

Steven Tyler, after invoking one of his more nonsensical Tyler-isms ("You know, after Monday and Tuesday, even a week says WTF" — WTF??), agreed with Jackson's assertion that she was "unbelievable," adding as well that it was "gorgeous." Jennifer Lopez kicked it up a notch, calling the performance "out of this world." "You were saving that for when it counts!" she teased her.

Heading into the show, Toscano wasn't necessarily a name on the tip of the tongues of many viewers, but it definitely was afterward. And on a night when she needed to bring it, she brought it, and in doing so brought the house down with her.

What did you think of Pia Toscano's performance? Let us know in the comments!

Can Christina Aguilera Regain Her Pop-Diva Crown?

Singer's arrest tops year of troubles for Grammy winner.
By Gil Kaufman

The pattern has, unfortunately, become fairly predictable at this point. A young star experiences stratospheric early success, lives a high-flying lifestyle and engages in over-the-top rebellious behavior and then begins to spin out of control after experiencing some personal and professional disappointments.

The latest victim is Grammy winner Christina Aguilera, whose annus horribilis reached its peak on Tuesday morning when she and her boyfriend both ended up behind bars. A year ago, Aguilera was on the cusp of a return to the spotlight after nearly three years away, during which she celebrated the birth of her son and recorded a new album, Bionic, which was tagged as her futuristic stab at retaking her pop-diva mantle.

"There's no other way of looking at the last year in her career other than to say it's been trying," said Keith Caulfield, the associate director of charts for Billboard magazine. "A lot of artists have tough times and go through all sorts of drama. Mariah Carey had her 'TRL' moment when 'Glitter' bombed and 'Loverboy' didn't do what she wanted, but she came back with 'We Belong Together,' and was better than ever. Everyone was writing [Aguilera] off because that's what we like to do — beat people while they're down."

Although authorities have said she won't be prosecuted, Aguilera was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of public intoxication on Tuesday morning after her boyfriend Matthew Rutler was pulled over on suspicion of driving under the influence. It was the latest hiccup in a year of difficulties for Aguilera, which began with the flop of her 2010 Bionic album, which has sold only 250,000 copies in the U.S. to date.

That was followed by a hastily canceled U.S. tour, the failure of her big-screen debut in "Burlesque" and the announcement of her separation and pending divorce from husband Jordan Bratman.

Those incidents were followed by her infamous flubbing of the lyrics at February's Super Bowl and a stumble on the Grammys stage a week later, amid tabloid reports that her partying had gotten out of hand.

Billboard's Caulfield said he didn't think Aguilera's troubles are comparable to the very public difficulties suffered by Britney Spears several years ago or even Lindsay Lohan's string of trips to jail and rehab, but that the pileup of Christina's career and personal setbacks may have been amplified by the speed at which information and photos are disseminated on the Net these days. "Because of the coverage and the way things happen so quickly on the Internet, there's no room for an, 'Oh, I screwed up the lyrics or I stumbled.' The problem is that everything she's done over the past year was on a significant magnitude: her first starring role, the Super Bowl!"

Had all the other previous incidents not happened, Caulfield said people may not have even noticed Aguilera's stumble at the Grammys, a trip that Caulfield himself, who was at the show, said he didn't even detect. "I can't imagine how difficult it is to be Aguilera now: you have a kid, you're separating from your husband, the album you waited four years to put out no one bought, it's got to be tough."

PR expert and star of the Kim Kardashian-produced E! show "The Spin Crowd," Jonathan Cheban said some of Aguilera's problems may stem from her public image.

"She has an incredible voice ... she's won Grammys ... but it's a different story than Britney," Cheban said of the comparison to Spears and other stars like Lohan and Robert Downey Jr. who've had public spirals. "Christina's definitely had a bad year, but there have been so many stories over the years about how unfriendly she is and how she doesn't treat the people around her right, that I think people are more eager to take her down. Nobody is rooting for her because over the years she's not been one to root for anyone else."

Before things went south for her, Cheban said it was hard to knock Aguilera off her pedestal because she was producing hit albums, winning Grammys and being asked to appear in movies such as Martin Scorsese's 2008 Rolling Stones documentary, "Shine a Light." But once things started to fall apart, he said, the knives came out. "There were no breaks, really," he noted. "From the album tanking, the movie tanking, the divorce ... she did a weird 360 in her life and went into hiding, and when you hide too much these days, people don't like that. If you're not out there, people will come after you and not in a positive way."

So, is it bad luck or bad karma? "Look at [Lady] Gaga," Cheban continued. "If she's trying to compete with [Gaga], then she should have praised her. Gaga is a woman of the people and everyone loves her and she's fun and she's out there and honest."

Caulfield said another problem is that while Aguilera was away, a new crop of younger, hotter models (Gaga, Katy Perry, Ke$ha) rose up to take her place and when Bionic failed, she purposely took herself out of the spotlight and seemed to amplify the career stall-out. "Pick a diva, they've all had their issues and failures — Madonna, Whitney Houston, Mariah," he said. "We love a comeback story, though, and, of course, whatever her next thing is, hopefully it will work and people will love her again."

Lady Gaga managed to look like a seasoned pro when she hit the catwalk for Mugler's Paris Women's Fashion Week show, where she made her debut as a model. The singer donned two looks, one all-black and the other white, for her rousing appearance.

While her runway appearance was certainly headline-making, it was the fact that Gaga previewed part of a Born This Way song for the fashionistas that was even more noteworthy. The dance track, "Government Hooker," was the latest song Gaga has teased fans with from her May release.

It featured a thumping beat, operatic vocals and a trance-y vibe. On it, she sings sexy lines like, "I can be anything/ I'll be your everything/ Just touch me, baby." The massive club track features Gaga's full voice sharing requests like, "Put your hands on me." On the track about desire, she sings, "I'm gonna drink my tears tonight/ I'm gonna drink my tears and cry/ 'Cause I know you love me, baby." During the show, she also played "Scheiße" and "Born This Way" in addition to the dark new track.

It might be the first time she graced a catwalk, but it's not the first time she's previewed new tracks during a fashion show. "Scheiße" was previewed during Mugler's men's show in January, and she previously debuted "Bad Romance" in 2009 during an Alexander McQueen show.

Gaga has called "Government Hooker" "one of my favorites" and said it "has more of a hip-hop beat."

"We double-timed the beat. It's a super fast, really hard record, and the lyrics are really filthy," she added. "It's also empowering, but more in the direction of sexual female empowerment."

Wiz Khalifa got his very first break as a high school senior when the Pittsburgh rapper was tapped by Rolling Stone as an artist to watch. Now, on the verge of delivering his major-label debut, Rolling Papers, the "Black and Yellow" star is set to grace the cover of the magazine, according to RapRadar.

In the issue, he's been named "Hip-Hop's Rookie of the Year"; The Source bestowed the same honor on him back in November.

Wiz Khalifa is sharing cover duties with "Jersey Shore" starlet Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi for the issue, dubbed the "Hot List" special, which arrives on newsstands Friday.

MTV News' "Hottest Breakthrough MC" winner — who won by a landslide, thanks to his Taylor Gang following — is riding high (pun intended) off the success of "Black and Yellow," his hometown anthem that doubled as the Steelers' soundtrack on their way to the Super Bowl.

Wiz followed that number with "Roll Up," which is currently #76 on Billboard's Hot 100. "Black and Yellow" is still going strong, resting at #10 after hitting the top earlier this year.

In January, MTV named Wiz Khalifa an "11 for '11" celeb to watch, along with Dave Franco, Kim Kardashian and another "Jersey Shore" star, Deena Cortese.

"I got a lot of work to do," Wiz told MTV News shortly before receiving the nod. "I've done a lot of work to get where I'm at, but I have to keep working. And, hopefully, I'll be the best artist of the year."

Johnny Depp is one of those actors who disappear so fully into the characters he plays onscreen that with each new film, it's hard to know what to expect from the Oscar nominee. Depp's latest, the animated pic "Rango," is no exception.

In the film — directed by Depp's "Pirates of the Caribbean" director Gore Verbinski and featuring the vocal talents of Abigail Breslin, Isla Fischer and Bill Nighy — Depp plays the title character, a chameleon living a lonely life in a cage as a family pet. But Rango is also an aspiring actor so he stages elaborate plays within the confines of his little glass home. He suddenly finds his life turned upside down when his cage is accidentally thrown out of his owners' car during a cross-country move, landing him in the strange town of Dirt in the Nevada desert.

MTV News caught up with Depp and we asked him if, given his chameleon-like abilities as an actor, he felt a sense of kinship with the little green reptile, and whether Rango is perhaps the closest he's come to playing himself.

"What I saw early on with the character, and something that Gore and I talked about, is that it is in sort of all of us, in a way," Depp explained. "There is a chameleonic side to all of us in which we find ourselves in certain situations that you have to adapt to, sitting across from personalities that you have to adapt to in order to survive the moment or survive the day," he said. "That's kind of how I saw Rango."

Who's your favorite Johnny Depp character? Tell us in the comments!

Last week, shortly after the haircut heard 'round the world, Justin Bieber gave a lock of his famous hair to Ellen DeGeneres. The talk-show host graciously took the gift and promised to auction if off and give all the proceeds to charity.

In addition to the lock of hair, Bieber also signed a plastic box in which the hair would be kept. On Wednesday (March 2), 98 bids later, the Bieber memorabilia had sold for $40,668. All the proceeds from the hair will go to the Gentle Barn Foundation, a California-based animal-rights organization.

When Bieber appeared on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" to give the talk-show host the hair, he reassured her that it was, in fact, his. "Yes, it's really my hair, but there's a perk: I wanted to do something good. I'm giving pieces of it to different people," he explained during the February 23 appearance. "The thing is, we're doing something special. We want you to donate it to whatever charity you want."

He also joked about what inspired him to cut off his signature locks. "I was inspired by yours," Bieber laughed. "Yeah [people were freaking out], but I was like, 'I don't really care.' "

Perez Hilton was also one of the lucky hair recipients. On February 22, the blogger wrote, "Not only did Justin Bieber get a haircut, but the teen phenom tells us that he is going to be divvying up his shorn locks to help raise money for different charities. And, he's giving Perez some of his hair to auction off! We're working it all out now, and we can't wait to tell you what good we hope to do with Bieber's hair!"

What do you think of the final price for Justin's hair? Let us know in the comments!

Lady Gaga Makes Runway Debut At Mugler Fashion Show

Singer tries her hand at modeling in Paris, also previewing the song 'Government Hooker.'

Before Wednesday's (March 2) Mugler fashion show in Paris even kicked off, fans were treated to some behind-the-scenes action as models and stylists scrambled to finalize the looks for Nicola Formichetti's debut women's-wear collection for the line. Perhaps the most famous model backstage? That would be Lady Gaga.

Mugler was the perfect line for Gaga's catwalk debut — not just because creative director Formichetti is her stylist, but also because its gothy, latexy and glamorous aesthetic perfectly fits Gaga's over-the-top style.

When the show did eventually kick off, Paris' most fashionable, including Vogue editor Anna Wintour, filled the seats to see what Formichetti had up his sleeve. This season, the brand showed models styled with sleek ponytails and variations on the cat eye. The clothes had lots of leather, sheer fabrics and plastic-like garments that were equally futuristic and sophisticated, fitting perfectly to the model's bodies. Shoulders were an emphasis of the ensembles, while pencil skirts and wide-legged pants also ruled. Blacks, Army greens and dark neutrals flooded the line, which also included wintery whites, leopard prints and cobalt blues.

Gaga hit the stage early in the show in her Mugler finest. For her initial appearance, she wore a version of a beret, two flowing pigtails, a dazzling diamond necklace, a sheer black top with a bra, a leather skirt and towering boots. Gaga posed and smoked a cigarette onstage as models, including Zombie Boy, tried to act like the superstar wasn't onstage with them. As she walked off, cheers could be heard from the audience.

Gaga re-emerged for the close of the show in a flowing, white skirt with white bustier and super-high platforms. She completed the look with a white hat and sheer scarf. (Always self-aware, Gaga was heard telling handlers backstage before she hit the runway, "If I vomit on the stage, it would be good press." She also was spotted practicing her fiercest strut.)

As "Born This Way" played out, the models took their final walks. Gaga hugged Formichetti as the designer came out for his bow. Backstage, as the live-stream cameras still rolled, Gaga took photos and got flowers.

In addition to playing "BTW" and "Scheiße," Gaga debuted "Government Hooker," a trance-y dance track about all things sexy in which she recites lines like "Put your hands on me."

Snooki Blasts Off On The Cover Of Rolling Stone

Mag dubs her 'America's #1 Party Girl.'
By Aly Semigran

Pint-size reality star/published author Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi made the cover of the latest issue of Rolling Stone magazine — doing her best "Dr. Strangelove" imitation, no less — which hits newsstands this Friday. But the cover shot already hit the Web on Wednesday (March 2), prompting Polizzi to tweet, "THE NEW ROLLING STONE COVER : Nicole Snooki Polizzi ♥ #loveitorhateit =)."

In the issue, the 23-year-old, who is currently riding the success of the record-breaking third season of "Jersey Shore," poses with pickles, discusses life in the limelight and announces her plans for total reality-television domination.

While the magazine has dubbed her "America's #1 Party Girl," it may not be a title she is entirely comfortable with. Polizzi, who said she watches the show every week, has noticed how her partying ways have caught up with her. "If I do something stupid, which is pretty much the whole time, I hate it," she reveals, "I just hate it. Obviously, they're only going to put the good stuff in, and the good stuff is us drunk, so all I'm seeing is me drunk and falling down. That's how I am when I party, but some of the stuff I do is, like, 'Really, Nicole?' I look like a freakin' alcoholic. I'm like, 'You're sweating, your makeup is running, you look gross.' I just look like sh--."

Still, those less-than-flattering moments and the effects of being on camera all day, every day ("There's no normalcy," she gripes) don't seem to stop Polizzi from seeking out a life in front of the cameras. "When 'Jersey Shore' ends I'm going to do more spin-offs," she told the magazine. "What I'd like is to turn out like Jessica Simpson, with her whole brand. She makes millions ... I'm trying to build an empire, because after this I can't get a normal job. I mean, how do I go and sit behind a desk?"

But before those future endeavors, Polizzi is more than willing to talk about what's currently going on at "Jersey Shore." In addition to releasing excerpts from the interview, a video has been posted at RollingStone.com featuring a behind-the-scenes look at the multi-outfit (including a pickle barrel) photo shoot with Polizzi, who discussed everything from heading to Italy to her occasional friend-with-benefits, "Jersey Shore" castmate Vinny Guadagnino. Polizzi, who said she was excited but surprised that Rolling Stone chose her for the cover ("I'm like, 'Okay, who am I? Like, I don't sing, I don't do anything like that"), also theorized on why she's the most-liked castmember on the series. "I think everyone gravitates towards me more on 'Jersey Shore' just because I think I'm more relatable and ... I'm real and I don't care [if I] show my real side."

Still, Polizzi will likely bond with her fellow castmembers as they head to Italy for the upcoming fourth season. "I'm definitely excited to go to Italy for the new season," Polizzi says, but acknowledges her limited capabilities of the language. "The only thing I really know in Italian is 'Ciao, bella.' " Polizzi also brought up a certain castmember after riding the RS cover rocket (which she later signed, "Goodbye rocket, you hurt my ass"): Vinny Guadagnino. "Vinny definitely compares to the rocket I sat on," Polizzi said of her co-star, with whom she's shared some, er, intimate moments on the show. "I would probably call that rocket Seabiscuit because that's the same size as Vinny's ding-dong."

Don't miss "Jersey Shore" every Thursday at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.

Can Jacob Lusk Or Casey Abrams Win 'American Idol'?

Posted: 02 Mar 2011 02:23 AM PST

Our experts weigh in on the top 12 men, also naming Paul McDonald and Scotty McCreery as standouts.
By Gil Kaufman

Of course it's too early to start handicapping who might win season 10 of "American Idol," but that's never stopped us before. After a lackluster first night on the big stage for the top 12 men on Tuesday, we decided to ask a few of our "Idol" experts who they thought nailed it and who appears to have what it takes to win the whole thing.

First, we turned to noted producer Howard Benson (My Chemical Romance, All-American Rejects, Flyleaf), who worked with "Idol" alum Chris Daughtry on his band's smash 2006 debut. He said he was impressed with sudden front-runner Jacob Lusk and Casey Abrams.

"I think Casey's one of the best ones left, and Jacob is amazing," said Benson, who started watching the show intently after working with Daughtry. "Casey's definitely got a Mumford & Sons thing going on, and there's an opening for that quirkiness out there. I don't know if he can write his own material, so it's a matter of where you get him and how you produce him."

But he said he could see Lusk, who was compared to late soul icon Luther Vandross during Tuesday's show, selling millions of albums if he did the right kind of album given the absence of a traditional gospel/soul-influenced R&B crooner on the scene at the moment.

He was unimpressed with karaoke DJ Clint Jun Gamboa, whom he predicted would be gone soon, and said Brett Loewenstern's cover of the Doors' "Light My Fire" was horrifying. "I thought Jim Morrison would have been there he would have killed him," he said of the late Doors singer. "I've never heard anything so bad in my life. He doesn't stand a chance." Benson, who has worked with Adam Lambert, said James Durbin looked a bit too much like the former glammy "Idol" runner-up, but didn't live up to Adam's vocals and was too shrieky.

He also thought Jordan Dorsey blew it when he folded right away and agreed when the judges said he picked the wrong song with "OMG" by Usher. "The minute he caved in so quickly, I thought, 'He'll never survive.' You can't do that."

Two dark horses he picked as ones to watch are Tim Halperin and Paul McDonald, whom he dubbed potential stars. "They're good-looking and have good voices, and with the right material, you could definitely make some good records with those guys."

He tagged 16-year-old country crooner Scotty McCreery as a potential wild card. Though he wondered whether S.C. could survive rounds when he had to sing something besides country, Benson said he would sign the high-schooler "tomorrow" just on his attitude, honesty and self-assured vocals. "The best thing that could happen to him is if he signed a contract tomorrow and he goes off and makes a record."

MTV's own "Idol" impresario, Jim Cantiello, said Tuesday's show was definitely a case of "strange vs. range." The performances were so all-over-the-place that Cantiello said he's starting to wonder if producers have a nefarious plan for this year's male singers. "I wonder if producers are stacking the deck with wildly offbeat male performers so that the female singers have a chance to stand out with their vocals," he said. "Think about it: Every highlight in the guy's show was a left-of-center 'Idol' oddity."

After three years in a row of male winners, Cantiello pointed to the unusual performances on the show, including Loewenstern's "fidgety" Doors cover, Durbin's "shrieky" Judas Priest bit, McDonald's Russell Brand-swaggering stage show and Abrams' "junkyard-dog impression," and wondered what the plan was.

"At this point, I find it hard to believe that Abrams, while engaging and entertaining so far, will be able to survive all the way to the finale," he said. "He'll have to show new angles of his crazy before the judges and viewers turn against him." As for Lusk, while previous gospel guys like season nine's Jermaine Sellers and season three's George Huff didn't have the vocal-aerobics abilities of Lusk, Jim noted that the "Idol" voting patterns have changed quite a bit since season-three winner Fantasia's histrionics propelled her to the top. "I won't be surprised if mainstream viewers flee Jacob's over-the-top dynamics and Casey's gonzo commitment before the confetti falls," he said.

Popdust writer Maura Johnston is keeping her eye on Halperin, whom she thinks has some Josh Groban-type potential and could have really leaped into the lead if he'd picked a better song on Tuesday night. "It didn't show off his power," she said of his Rob Thomas cover. "And he seemed awkward onstage."

She also thought Stefano Langone showed promise by picking a contemporary song (Bruno Mars' "Just the Way You Are"), which he dedicated to the ladies in the audience in what she dubbed a nice, savvy touch. And though she sometimes forgets that Abrams is only 19 because he comes off much older and more experienced, she said he seems to have a spark that plays well on the "Idol" stage and could work on radio.

As for McCreery, she wasn't feeling him. "He's very one-note," she said. "He has me lamenting that they're doing decades and not theme nights this year. Could you imagine him on disco night?"

Do you agree with our experts? Which guys do you think are killing it so far? Let us know in the comments below!

Don't miss "Idol Party Live" at 10 p.m. Thursday on MTV.com, following the "American Idol" results show, for analysis, celebrity guests and even some karaoke. In the meantime, get your "Idol" fix on MTV News' "American Idol" page, where you'll find all the latest news, interviews and opinions.

Christina Aguilera To Be A Judge On 'The Voice'

Just one day after her arrest on a misdemeanor charge of public intoxication, Christina Aguilera is making headlines again, only this time for more favorable reasons. The singer has officially signed on to be a celebrity judge for NBC's upcoming talent competition "The Voice."

Billboard reported on Wednesday (March 2) that the Grammy winner will join host Carson Daly and fellow judges Cee Lo Green and Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine on the "American Idol"-style program.

"I am so excited to be part of such a wonderful project that celebrates music and the talent behind it. To be given the opportunity to help shape new artists' careers and mentor them to see their dreams come to fruition is a task I welcome with open arms," Aguilera said in a statement. "I am so happy to be working with fellow Grammy Award winners Adam and Cee Lo as I feel there is so much we can all bring to 'The Voice.' "

Aguilera has suffered a series of personal and professional setbacks recently. Aside from Tuesday's arrest, the 30-year-old is in the midst of a very public divorce from husband Jordan Bratman. Last month, the pop singer tripped on the Grammy stage following an all-star tribute to Aretha Franklin, and that was just days after she flubbed the words to the national anthem during the Super Bowl.

So word of her signing on to "The Voice," which premieres on April 26 on NBC, is probably welcome good news for Aguilera. Series creator and go-to reality producer Mark Burnett ("Survivor," "The Apprentice") said he always had his sights set on the "Burlesque" star.

"When I decided to produce 'The Voice,' I immediately knew that my first choice for a female coach had to be Christina Aguilera," Burnett said in the statement, adding, "Christina has a perfect voice and is an undeniable force in the music business. She is the epitome of 'The Voice.' "

Will you tune in for "The Voice" now that Christina Aguilera has signed on to be a judge? Tell us in the comments!

Justin Bieber Lands Two Albums In Billboard Top Five

The feat marks the first time this accomplishment has been achieved since last year, when Bieber also had two albums in the top five.
By Gil Kaufman

Justin Bieber has become such a musical sales force that now the only competition left is, well, Justin Bieber. After landing the #1 album last week with his Never Say Never - The Remixes, Bieber had to settle for #2 this week to make room for Adele's 21. But the rush of attention on the now-17-year-old pop star thanks to his big-screen debut in "Justin Bieber: Never Say Never" helped propel his nearly year-old My World 2.0 back into the top five at #5, a feat that Billboard Associate Director of Charts Keith Caulfield said was a "very big deal."

In fact, Bieber is the first artist to have two albums in the top five at the same time since he achieved the same feat nearly a year ago. The last time it happened was in March of 2010 when 2.0 debuted at #1 while the singer's debut, My World, was at #5. Caulfield said that before that, it hadn't happened since October 2004 when rapper Nelly's simultaneous album release of Sweat and Suit both crashed the top five at #1 and #2.

If you go back to the last artist to do it without releasing two new albums at the same time, you have to look to May 2003, when 50 Cent's Get Rich or Die Tryin' was at #5 and his The New Breed CD/DVD debuted at #2.

"Any way you look at it, it's unusual," said Caulfield, noting that even with all their success on the charts lately, not even Lady Gaga or Taylor Swift have notched that achievement. "It helps that you have four Bieber albums to choose from on the charts right now."

Lil Wayne Responds To Alleged Jay-Z 'H.A.M.' Dis

Weezy's '6 Foot 7 Foot' video premieres Thursday at 7:54 p.m. ET on MTV.

Five years ago, Jay-Z and Lil Wayne were trading lyrical jabs like Lil' Kim and Nicki Minaj do these days. Their war of words, however, seemed to subside when the iconic Brooklyn rapper invited the Cash Money superstar to join him on "Hello Brooklyn 2.0," from 2007's American Gangster.

But things seemed to become chilly again when Birdman compared Hov and Weezy, saying his artist is a better rapper and has more money.

In January, Jay-Z and Kanye West's "H.A.M." arrived via Facebook, and fans wondered whether Jay was taking shots at Wayne on the track.

"N---as fantasize about the sh-- that I do daily/ Like these rappers rap about all the sh-- that I do daily," Jay spits on the number. "I'm like really, half a billi, n---a, really you got Baby money/ Keep it real with n---as, n---as ain't got my lady money."

According to Weezy, who heard the track personally through West, he isn't looking to start another competition with Jay. Wayne told MTV News that he didn't ask 'Ye about the alleged dig: "I wouldn't ask him about a Jay-Z line because he's not Jay-Z."

That doesn't mean Wayne wouldn't respond to the line, even if he hasn't returned fire just yet.

"Me and my wit, given my wit, I would probably play off of it," Wayne explained. "But I wouldn't make it a competition, because actually, the subject that he's talking about in that line, I can't box with the god. I'd be the first one to tell you that, given my wit, and the type of person that I am, I'd capitalize and I'd play off of it. Yeah, I definitely would."

The New Orleans rapper is putting the final touches on his next studio album — and his first project since his release from prison — Tha Carter IV. But first, Wayne is set to premiere his video for "6 Foot 7 Foot" on MTV this Thursday at 7:54 p.m.

While its visuals were no doubt memorable for fans of the "Born This Way" video, Lady Gaga's funky fashions have also caught the eye of fashionistas everywhere. The video's creative director, Laurieann Gibson, credits Gaga's stylist, Nicola Formichetti, for embracing eye-catching couture for the Nick Knight-directed clip.

"When we found Nicola Formichetti — we found him when we were doing Much Music — before that we were just basically hustling and she was making a lot of the costumes, and we were grinding and America Apparel was our best friend," Gibson recalled. "And then we found Nicola and he just got it. So when we're on set, the Haus is such a collaboration, and Nicola is inspired and loves the passion of the dance. He is fashion, and him and Gaga together are magic. To see them push and pull, it's just a real process. It's like the Factory. It's very Warhol how we operate."

Formichetti blogged about the video's expansive fashion credits. In the opening sequence of the video, the star wears a head accessory by Alexis Bittar, a diamond neckpiece by Erickson Beamon with earrings by Pamela Love, and a stained-glass dress by Petra Storrs. Gaga also wears finger rings by Erickson Beamon and the technical chiffon was designed by Thierry Mugler.

During the birthing scene, co-star Raquel Zimmermann wears a bodysuit by Atsuko Kudo and a neckpiece by the Baroness. Gaga wears shoes by Natacha Marro. In the following scene, Zimmerman wears boots by Kobi Levi. And for Gaga's floating head scene, she wears Kudo and Levi, as well.

During the evil-Gaga gun scene, the singer dons knife shoes by Mugler, a dress by Sorcha O' Raghallaigh and gloves by Portolano.

When the song finally kicks in, Gaga wears skimpy lingerie that includes a bra by OMD, underwear by NYC Sex Trash by Stephanie Paterek, gloves by LaCrasia and customized half-sole shoes by Capezio. She completes the look with a special "BTW" jacket by TomTom.

For the "Born This Way" skeleton scene, both she and her skeleton lover, Rico, wear tuxedos by Mugler. For the orgy, the slime is courtesy of Bart Hess. For her Michael Jackson impression in the alley, Gaga wears a shirt and pants by Haus of Gaga, shoes by Natacha Marro, a Billykirk belt and LaCrasia gloves. As the video closes out, the unicorn horn is courtesy of Jennifer Behr.
