Much like Michael Jackson, Miley Cyrus found fame as a child star. So, on the one-year anniversary of the King of Pop's untimely death, the teen queen reflected on the man who paved the way for the pop stars who followed him. Cyrus wished more people had shared with him how much they appreciated what he did during his life.

"It's just crazy again with the media and all that. Nobody ever wrote an article just to say, 'Hey, Michael, we really appreciate what you do!' " she told MTV News. "I wish I would have had the opportunity [to tell him how I felt about him when he was alive]."

Cyrus added that people tend to remember how great an artist was when they have already passed. "Not enough people told him [how great he was] and I think it's sad that you have to wait till it's too late," she added. "But I think he knows."

The "Can't Be Tamed" singer was never able to meet Jackson and tell him how she felt, but she did pay tribute to him in her own way. During a recent appearance on "Good Morning America," she changed the Jay-Z line in "Party in the U.S.A." to reference MJ. Also, there was one other time that really stood out to her.

"I'm a huge fan of Michael Jackson. When I met Lady Gaga I was wearing a Michael Jackson T-shirt and, for me, that was completely surreal — because the female artist that inspired me and the male artist that inspired me is a lot of Lady Gaga and a lot of Michael Jackson," she explained. "And a little bit of a mix so that picture [in the MJ T-shirt meeting Gaga] means a lot to me. Again, I think God works in mysterious ways and had me wear that for a reason."

MTV will be remembering the life and music of Michael Jackson all weekend. Don't miss the one-hour special "Michael Jackson's Influence on Music," airing Friday at 6:30 p.m. on MTV.

'This energy is always undeniable,' Kristen Stewart tells MTV News on the black carpet.

It's not uncommon for fans of major franchises to devote several hours, days and weeks to the stories they hold so dear, but there's something almost indescribable about the devotion of the "Twilight" fanbase — a devotion that was on full display Thursday night (June 24) at the world premiere of "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.

"This is beyond insane. It's, like, ludicrous madness. You can't describe something like this," actor Justin Chon, who plays Eric in the "Twilight" series, told MTV News on the black carpet of the "Eclipse" premiere. "These are some of the most dedicated fans that you'll find on planet Earth."

Sarah Clarke, who plays Bella's mother Renee Dwyer in the "Twilight" films, echoed Chon's sentiment: "You never get used to this. I think there's an Elvis quality, you know?"

Clarke pointed out that many of the fans in attendance had been camping outside the theater for almost a week just to make sure they were able to see all their favorite stars. To thank these fans, Peter Facinelli and some of his castmates paid a visit to the dedicated "Twilight" supporters earlier in the week.

"A couple of us came down and signed some autographs for them, because they've been camping out for five days and we wanted to make sure the wait was worth it," Facinelli said. "It's humbling to have this much fan support. I definitely appreciate it, and I know that the cast does. We don't take it for granted. This whole franchise has been successful because of those fans."

In addition to the numerous fans and "Twilight" castmembers themselves, many other notable Hollywood personalities and surprising celebs came out for the "Eclipse" premiere. Athletes like Yankees superstar Alex Rodriguez and L.A. Lakers newcomer Ron Artest were two of the more unexpected celebrities in attendance, with Artest throwing his support behind Team Jacob and the rest of the wolf pack. Actress Jennifer Love Hewitt, in contrast, declared her own status as a proud member of the Team Edward faithful.

"I tried to meet [Robert Pattinson] last year, and I waited on line for an hour and a half to meet him, and just as I got to the front, he left," Hewitt recalled of a previous opportunity to meet the hunky Edward Cullen in person. "I was so sad. But he didn't mean it — he's Edward!"

Although she fully supports the sexy vampire, Hewitt said she has difficulty relating to Bella's romantic dilemma. "[My love life] sometimes feels more complicated [than hers]," she said. "Nobody ever just says, 'Can I bite you?' And if they did, I'd be like, 'Yes!' And we could just move on with our lives, and it would be amazing!"

One of the most anticipated personalities attending the "Eclipse" premiere was none other than "Twilight" author and mastermind Stephenie Meyer herself. "I'm so not used to this," Meyer admitted when asked about the size and scope of the "Eclipse" premiere. "I only do this kind of thing once a year. The rest of the time, I am totally incognito. It's nice to be the author, let me tell you. It's so much easier than being the actor!"

There's no question that Meyer was able to navigate through the crowd with more anonymity than the film's three leading actors, as Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart couldn't travel from point A to point B without cheers and applause following them every step of the way.

"This energy is always undeniable," Stewart said of the crowd's unbridled enthusiasm. "I feel like I'm one of them. I feel like we share the exact same passion for this thing, and it feels a little weird to be at the head of it, but it's cool."

Lautner said that when he first stepped onto the red carpet, there was only one sensation going through his mind: amazement. "It's absolutely incredible and so exciting," he said. "It's a little bit of pressure, because you definitely want to live up to their expectations, but at the same time, we luckily have the most supportive fans in the world. Sometimes, this is just like extra comfort."

"Anybody who says they're tired of this is completely crazy," Pattinson agreed with his co-star and onscreen romantic rival. "If I ever said that [I'm tired of this], someone just has to remind me of what I was doing before: sitting around doing nothing!"

Michael Jackson's Death: A Look Back At The First 24 Hours

Posted: 25 Jun 2010 03:52 AM PDT

World was shocked by the news of Jackson's death.
By Gil Kaufman

The news of Michael Jackson's death one year ago Friday (June 25) seemed all the more shocking because it meant we had not only lost one of our most energetic, enigmatic and complex pop stars, but one whose entire adult life had been aimed at recapturing a childhood innocence he'd lost in service of entertaining us.

Jackson's yearning to remain eternally childlike and his whimsical, over-the-top notions of uniting the world through song made it that much harder to believe he'd died and then to accept that we would never again get to see him dazzle us with his signature live spectacle. Today, we take a look back at the rush of emotions we felt over the first 24 hours after the news broke that Jackson had died at age 50.

Considered by many to be the world's greatest entertainer, Jackson was preparing for a sold-out, 50-show residency at London's O2 arena. Fans had snatched up more than $85 million worth of tickets for the This Is It shows, which would mark the self-proclaimed King of Pop's return to the stage after more than a decade in seclusion raising his three young children. Jackson had long been plotting his way back to the top following a devastating trial on child-molestation charges that ended in a 2005 acquittal, and the O2 shows — slated to begin July 13 — were promising to be a blockbuster re-emergence.

The excitement about the gigs, though, quickly turned to sadness on June 25, 2009, when news emerged in the early afternoon that the singer had been rushed to a Los Angeles hospital. In the initial hours, confusion reigned about what had happened to Jackson and what his condition was. Early reports said he had suffered cardiac arrest and was in critical condition after paramedics found him not breathing at his rented Holmby Hills, California, mansion. Some said he had already died or had died upon arrival at the hospital; others painted his condition as grave.

Within hours, the grim reality set in when it was confirmed that Jackson had died as a result of cardiac arrest. Despite decades of bizarre behavior, two high-profile allegations of inappropriate conduct with children and a maddening inability to recapture the singular magic of his greatest musical achievements, upon confirmation of his death Jackson's millions of fans turned to the thing that had always risen above his tabloid headlines for them: his music.

MTV News correspondent Sway vividly remembered where he was when he learned of MJ's death, and he reflected on how it affected his whole family.

"I'll never forget the moment I found out that Michael Jackson died," he said. "I was standing in my office at MTV in the Times Square building, and somebody yelled as they ran through the newsroom: 'It's true! He's dead!' My heart sank to my stomach, and I paused for a moment before realizing that my 10-year-old daughter Kiyomi was being impacted by this as well. She looked up at me and said, 'Is it true?' And I just nodded and said, 'Apparently.' She was already online digging up information and sending it out to her friends back in California. My mother then sent me a text asking if the news of Michael's death was a hoax or not. Three different generations were impacted by one entertainer. It occurred to me how rare his presence was, because soon after, I received a call from my grandmother inquiring about his death. That made four generations."

After the reality set in, Sway got to work. "I only had a few moments to reflect before the call to duty rang through the hallways," he recalled. "It was time to prepare for our live broadcast that was to take place in two hours, and I was the anchor. It was extremely challenging to deliver, because I was as a fan and I was still emotionally shook. I learned how to dance watching footage of him, and in the 'hood, Michael was like a superhero. A hero was dead."

Entertainment Weekly music critic Leah Greenblatt also recalled where she was when she heard the news. "My whole family was in town for a wedding and we were about to all meet up, and we'd seen the news on TMZ and we thought he had a heart attack or stroke or some episode but that it wasn't a big deal," she said. "When he actually died, I did almost, like, a 180, because before I thought, 'Oh, these are some shenanigans to get out of the London concerts.' But then when I realized he was really gone, it hit me really hard."

Greenblatt's editors put her right to work on a special eight-page section reviewing Jackson's childhood and solo discography, and after days of listening to hour upon hour of Jackson's music, Greenblatt said his magical qualities rose up above the madness and sadness of his later years. "I was hearing the purity in this little boy's singing and interpretation of songs other people had done, and I was so struck by how precocious and emotive and amazing his voice was. It made me so sad, and I finally understood what I had known abstractly: that after spending the last decade calling him a freak and putting him in this icky category with the Anna Nicole Smiths, I thought, 'Oh my God, the reason he was so damaged was that he really had no childhood!' "

From Singapore to Seattle, Sydney to Saskatchewan, classics like "Billie Jean," "Beat It" and "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" blasted out of radios, iPods, TVs and boomboxes across the globe, as Jackson once again did in death what he so frequently yearned to do in life: bring people together through his music. Social-networking sites like Twitter and Facebook were nearly crippled by the crush of fans rushing to talk about and honor Jackson, one of the few remaining pop-culture figures whose footprint could cause such a global outpouring of grief.

Celebrities from Usher to Beyoncé and Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant poured out emotional tributes to the complicated pop icon that were immediate and heartfelt, with fellow stars remembering him as a friend and inspiration.

"I would not be the artist, performer and philanthropist I am today without the influence of Michael," Usher told MTV News. "I have great admiration and respect for him, and I'm so thankful I had the opportunity to meet and perform with such a great entertainer, who in so many ways transcended the culture. He broke barriers, he changed radio formats! ... His legacy is unparalleled. Michael Jackson will never be forgotten."

That grief was quickly followed by a barrage of questions and speculation about what had caused Jackson's demise. With autopsy results deferred, rumors swirled about Jackson's alleged addiction to prescription medications and curiosity about what role, if any, the singer's personal doctor, Conrad Murray, may have had in his death. Within that first day, we learned the police had removed some prescription-drug bottles from Jackson's home along with numerous vials of the powerful surgical anesthetic propofol and read the transcript of the frantic 911 call reporting Jackson's condition.

Murray would become the focus on the death investigation and eventually be charged with involuntary manslaughter in the case, but in those first 24 hours, he was a mysterious figure who, as far as we knew, was the last one to see MJ alive and may have been present as the singer died.

That first day also saw fans gathering at New York's legendary Apollo Theater to honor Jackson and dance in the streets to his music, even as we learned that it could be weeks (and, as it turned out, months) before we learned any autopsy results.

The following weeks would be filled with confusion about where and when Jackson would be buried, who would take control of his estimated $500 million estate and custody of his children and where and how fans would be allowed to say goodbye to their King.

"That week, every bodega, taxicab and house party on every block in New York was playing Michael Jackson," Greenblatt said. "You'd hear a DJ set and someone would drop 'Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough' and the room would go batsh--. Because you can't be that much of a pop supernova and not be part of our collective memory. It wiped out the last decade or 15 years and put you back to when he was just awesome."

MTV will be remembering the life and music of Michael Jackson all weekend. Don't miss the one-hour special "Michael Jackson's Influence on Music," airing Friday at 6:30 p.m. on MTV.

Jay Rock Goes From 'Hood 'Hardhead' To 'Hottest Breakthrough MCs Of 2010' Candidate

Fans decide our 'Hottest Breakthrough MC of 2010' -- vote now! The winner will be revealed on July 25.

"Hottest Breakthrough MCs of 2010" Candidate: Jay Rock

Even if you never saw Jay Rock or didn't know about his street credentials, one listen to records like "All My Life in the Ghetto" with Lil Wayne and Will.I.Am or freestyles like "Anti Social" and you can tell that the Watts, California, native's rhymes are 'hood-validated.

The husky roar in his baritone, the vivid narratives and the pain in his flow all give Rock one of the most captivating young voices in hip-hop. His candidacy for "Hottest Breakthrough MCs of 2010" comes with a collective thumbs-up from the streets.

"Starting out in Watts, I can say I really had a love for music," Rock said of his early musical inspirations. "I always had a love for music. When I was 6, 7 years old, I was raised on all the old-school stuff. My momma used to play oldies in the house. That's all my momma used to play around the house was oldies. But when I stepped outside my project unit, that's when I listened to the Dres, Scarfaces, DJ Twists, Mausberg. I was brought up on that. I fell in love with rhyming when I turned 13. I was in junior high. I got into it, but I wasn't serious. It was just for fun."

Rock didn't care too much about cultivating his skills; he was too busy chasing paper.

"I was doing what I do, being a hardhead in the streets. I didn't even know one of my big homies was in the music game," Rock explained. "I heard he was looking for me. I thought it was to chastise me for some stuff I did being a hardhead. But the whole time, he wanted to get me in the studio. He heard one of my tapes, a song I was on. I used to be ducking and dodging. Shout-out to Top Dawg, he snatched me out the streets and said, 'I'mma make something happen. You don't need to be out in the streets doing that dumb stuff.' "

Rock started putting out mixtapes in 2006 and has been signed to the Warner Music Group for the past three years, waiting to release his debut, Follow Me Home.

"We still pushing," Rock said about being patient. "We ain't giving up on nothing. We been through worst situations than this on the street level. Look where we at right now? We on MTV. We gotta keep pushing."

Rock became a fixture on the hip-hop blogs back in 2008 when the video for "All My Life in the Ghetto" dropped, featuring none other than Lil Wayne. His momentum has carried into this year with his appearance as part of XXL magazine's Freshmen 10. The follow-up mixtape From Hood Tales to the Cover of XXL came in the spring.

"I been around negativity all my life," Rock said. "To do something positive, it's a beautiful thing. It's crazy how people are listening to my music. I ain't never expect. ... I'm from Watts, out the projects. I'm blessed. Real talk."

Jay and 19 other up-and-coming MCs are in the running to become MTV News' "Hottest Breakthrough MC of 2010" — and the winner will be decided by you!

Bun B Says Tupac, Pimp C 'Right Now' Verses Feel 'Natural'

'We got a song that spans across three decades,' UGK MC tells Mixtape Daily; Trey Songz also guests on new track.
By Shaheem Reid

Cornerstone Credentials: UGK and Tupac Shakur
Bun B knows he has an angel in his corner, with Pimp C looking down on him from up above. And Bun smiles as he talks about a record off of his upcoming LP, Trill O.G. The song features Pimp, Trey Songz and the late Tupac Shakur. The Port Arthur, Texas, legend says that it feels like a higher power intervened allowing the cut "Right Now" to come to fruition.

"I don't know, the big man was with us on this one," Bun said of his late UGK partner, Pimp C, earlier this week in New York.

"It was a song that was originally recorded in one version for a Tupac tribute album. Whatever reason, it didn't make the [Tupac] album and ended up getting locked up in a vault. Somebody opened up the vaults and was like, 'We got this record y'all did. Do you still want the record?' We put some new music on top of it to get it back to a fresher feeling and give it more of a party vibe. When you listen to it, it really was a party record. [Producer] Steve Below put a real good beat behind it. I went in and did a fresh verse, got a new hook to it.

"I always knew we would have to get somebody new to sing the hook because that ain't my job. I'm an MC. We called up the young boy Trey, he was more than happy to fit us in his hectic schedule. He was getting ready to go out on the [Blueprint 3] Tour. He worked it out for us. I think we put together something people are going to be playing for a long time."

Bun said the track also captures his UGK partner's essence.

"Anybody that knows Pimp's personality, this is classic Pimp C — definitely talking about the ladies, definitely talking about getting money," Bun said. "Same thing with Tupac; to me, this is the 'Let Me See It' Pimp C-meets-the 'I Get Around' Tupac. It's a fun time had on this record. I think a lot of people will have a good time when they hear it. The craziest thing about this record is when you think about it, Tupac's verse is from the '90s. Pimp C's verse is from the 2000s. My verse is from 2010. We got a song that spans across three decades and is just coming out now. And it's gonna crush anything that's out there. It sounds like we all literally came out the booth yesterday. It feels natural."

With such storied careers, it's easy to imagine UGK and Tupac would've collaborated while Pimp and 'Pac were still around, but oddly, Bun said they didn't cross paths.

"We never got to meet 'Pac," Bun said. " 'Pac got our album, I believe Edi [from the Outlawz] was saying, maybe two weeks before he passed away. Scarface gave Tupac the UGK Ridin' Dirty album. 'Pac went to Edi and said, 'I don't know who these dudes is' — this is what Edi is telling us — 'but they gonna be down with us. They talking about the same thing we talking about. These dudes is gonna be down with us, they on the same thing we on.' It was crazy because Edi told us [Tupac] got the album and he was listening to it. And in one week, he lost two cousins. 'One Day' was a big record for him. Literally, one day [his cousins] were here, the next day they were gone. That [song] was something that helped them get through what he was going through at the time."

Trill O.G. comes out August 3, and besides features from 'Pac and Pimp, Young Jeezy, Drake, Gucci Mane, LeToya Luckett, Yo Gotti and the aforementioned Trey Songz all appear on the LP.

"Twilight" superstar Robert Pattinson has been conducting so many "Eclipse"-centric interviews lately, it's a wonder he actually remembers anything he says — let alone the countless articles that hang on his every word.

However, when MTV News caught up with him on the "Eclipse" premiere's black carpet Thursday night (June 24) to ask him about an article in which he'd been quoted as saying he's tired of all the "Twilight" work, Pattinson seemed to remember very clearly he had said nothing of the sort and quickly set the record straight.

"That's bullsh--!" Pattinson joked. "I hate reporters misquoting me, it's so annoying."

Of course, realizing he'd just used a naughty word during MTV's live feed from the premiere, he was quick to apologize for the blunder and cover his mouth.

Nonetheless, regarding his reportedly being "tired" of playing the world's most popular vampire, Pattinson denied it wholeheartedly: "Anyone who says they're tired of this is really crazy." Thinking about his life without "Twilight" reminds him of what he was doing before, "which was sitting around doing nothing." (Aside from his role in "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," of course.)

"I love doing the movies," Pattinson insisted. "I like all the people. I've had a great time on all of them. The cast is great."

When asked to put into words what he'll feel when the series comes to an end in a couple of years, the teen heartthrob said simply, "It's just weird. They've become so much a part of my life, it's like divorcing someone. I guess Ill see. Maybe it will be great!"

Drake and band work out kinks in 'Find Your Love.'

Most rappers perform on stage alongside a hype man, from Jay-Z and Memphis Bleek to Busta Rhymes and Spliff Star.

But Drake — who is already unlike most MCs because he also sings during performances — worries about his background singers when he puts his shows more than who'll rap next to him.

Prior to a recent performance in Toronto, the hometown star decided during his rehearsal that his set would need more than just the band backing him.

"If I had a female voice," he says in an exclusive outtake from MTV's "Drake: Better Than Good Enough" documentary. "Someone else to go back and forth [with].

His keyboard player and musical confidant "D10" asks if Drake felt overwhelmed performing "Find Your Love" (which he also performed on "The Tonight Show" last night) onstage by himself.

"To do the whole thing with no accompaniment, no nothing, it's impossible," Drake responds. "No singer — if you look, Alicia Keys, [Beyoncé], doing songs like this, epic, big songs, they have like three singers in the background.

"I don't want it to be like, I'm singing parts and the track is coming through," he continues. "What if the track doesn't come through the right way? We need another voice. That's a phone call that needs to be made tonight. We just don't have the time, the days. We don't have much of anything. We have shows every day and then we're in Europe."

In the documentary, Drake talks about how important his live show is to him and the lengths he goes to perfect the production.

Last weekend, during the Much Music awards in Toronto, the rapper suffered through a technical snafu before pulling it together for a spirited version of "Over."

MTV followed Drake in the weeks leading up to the release of his new LP, Thank Me Later. The "Drake: Better Than Good Enough" documentary will re-air on MTV Thursday at 6 p.m., Friday at 4 p.m., Saturday at 12 p.m. and 9 p.m., and Sunday at 9 a.m.

Robert Pattinson deviates from traditional black suit with a maroon Gucci getup.

As far as men's style goes, it's hard to vary too much from the classic dark suit. But at Thursday night's (June 24) premiere of "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse," Robert Pattinson tried his best. The dreamboat vampire walked the black carpet in a maroon Gucci suit, while his werewolf rival Taylor Lautner played it safe in a classic black suit/ skinny tie combo.

Among the ladies, muted colors and embellishments reigned supreme. Human star Kristen Stewart chose a white, one-sleeve Elie Saab minidress with a fierce cutout back. Her bestie, Dakota Fanning, also wore Elie Saab, though the Volturi guard went much more feminine in a short, flirty, nude-colored look with lace and feather accents. Fellow evil vampire Bryce Dallas Howard also went lacy in her long, mustard Dior frock, which was a rare spot of color amid a sea of neutrals. Also in the neutral camp was Ashley Greene, looking gorgeous in a light-blue column dress by Alexis Mabille Couture.

Several castmembers wore Marchesa: Nikki Reed's feathered number looked a tad Ice Capades chic (though she brought the ultimate accessory — her adorable little brother), while new wolf pack member Julia Jones shined in a silver, beaded strapless dress.

A couple of Cullen men looked dapper with their "90210" star significant others. Kellan Lutz echoed Taylor with a simple black suit and skinny tie, while girlfriend AnnaLynne McCord opted for a form-fitting champagne Nicole Miller and neutral makeup. Fellow Cullen clan member Peter Facinelli also donned a black pinstripe suit, which complemented wife Jennie Garth's metallic Marchesa and bright lipstick.

Metallics also seemed to be a hit, with Catalina Sandino Moreno in a belted, big-shouldered gunmetal-gray dress and Anna Kendrick in a ruffled olive frock. The boys weren't immune to the metallic trend either, with wolf pack member Alex Meraz donning a light-blue pinstripe suit.

Kristen Stewart has come a long way from the shy, anxious actress fans and reporters first encountered around the time of the first "Twilight" film's release.

When MTV News caught up with the saga's heroine on the "Eclipse" premiere's black carpet Thursday night (June 24), Stewart was all smiles and visibly bubbly with positive energy.

"I actually am quite excited," she said about being at the premiere. "I don't know why I'm not nervous. I think we've done a bunch of these events now, and I've always said that the energy is always undeniable, but right now, it feels positive and great."

Stewart acknowledged the consistent fan support as one of the "Twilight"-related gifts for which she's most grateful. "It's cool for me, because I've never had this [amount of fan support] on any of my movies, and I feel like I'm one of them," she said. "I feel like we share the exact same passion for this thing. It feels weird to be at the head of it, but it's cool, I'll roll with it."

Earlier in the night, MTV News chatted with "Twilight" author Stephenie Meyer, who was glad that she wasn't in Stewart's shoes. "I'm so not used to this," Meyer admitted when asked about the size and scope of the "Eclipse" premiere. "I only do this kind of thing once a year. The rest of the time, I am totally incognito. It's nice to be the author, let me tell you. It's so much easier than being the actor!"

Home and Home Tour dates are now September 2 and 3 in Detroit, September 13 and 14 in New York

In response to the demand for pre-sale tickets, Jay-Z and Eminem have added second dates to both of their Home and Home Tour stops, which will take place at Detroit's Comerica Park (now September 2 and 3) and New York's Yankee Stadium (September 13 and 14). Tickets for all four shows will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. on LiveNation.com.

Earlier this week, the pair taped a performance for the "Late Show With David Letterman" that will air Friday night.

When the stadium dates were first announced, Eminem said in a press release, "This is a once-in-a-lifetime set of shows and I know we're both really going to bring it to our hometowns. The fans are going to love this and so am I. It's gonna be historic."

"These shows are like a dream come true," Jay-Z offered. "I've always hoped that hip-hop could play any stadium like other genres of music. How perfect is it that Eminem and I get to play our hometowns and show how far the live rap experience has come? Fun and historic — a great combination all around the board."

Speaking with ESPN's Dave O'Brien and Rick Sutcliffe during a game between the Yankees and the Tigers, Eminem said of the event, "We had talked about doing something together again soon anyway — we just tried to come up with the best way and biggest way to do it.

"We've done things together, smaller shows and whatnot," he continued. "But I'm not sure we've ever done anything this big."

"I look for opportunities to work with Em," Jay-Z added. "Any time we get a chance to collaborate on things ..."

Em and Jay have teamed up onstage before, performing "Renegade" together at a "DJ Hero" event last June.

While fans know Taylor Lautner best for his hunky werewolf role in "The Twilight Saga," Jacob Black is taking on a whole new persona for "Abduction," the upcoming thriller from director John Singleton set to begin filming in a matter of days.

"I start [shooting the movie] in, like, three days," Lautner told MTV News on the black carpet of the L.A. premiere of "Eclipse" Thursday night (June 24). "I have a day off tomorrow, I go to New York the next day, and then I go to Pittsburgh. I'm so excited!"

In "Abduction," Lautner stars as a young teenager who discovers a stunning secret: The parents who have raised him his entire life are not his birth parents. When Lautner's character reaches out to his real parents, he finds himself sucked into a deadly world filled with espionage. In addition to its thrilling story, "Abduction" boasts an impressive cast, including Lily Collins, Alfred Molina, Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs and Maria Bello.

"This is a very real action thriller," Lautner said. "It has a great story and a great cast."

In addition to his "Twilight" responsibilities and his impending turn in "Abduction," Lautner's upcoming film slate also includes the starring role in "Stretch Armstrong." One project he's not attached to is "The Butcherhouse Chronicles," despite an extensive IMDb page suggesting his involvement alongside "Glee" actress Lea Michele.

"Sorry, I don't [have any idea]," Lautner said when asked about his involvement with the film. "Let's set the record straight: No 'Butcherhouse!' "

The actor said he's currently committed to filming "Abduction," "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn" and "Stretch Armstrong," in that order. "Butcherhouse" or not, there's no question that fans of Team Jacob will enjoy the young actor's big-screen presence for several years to come.

'Twilight' Actors Recall Interesting Fan Encounters At 'Eclipse' Premiere

'She vomited as soon as she saw me,' Alex Meraz laughs of one fan.

With the level of enthusiasm Twilighters have for the series, it's no surprise that the "Twilight" franchise's three main stars — Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner — have had their fair share of unique fan encounters. However, when MTV News caught up with fellow "Twilight" players Justin Chon and Alex Meraz, we learned that the fan enthusiasm extends to embrace the entire family.

Chon, who plays enthusiastic high schooler and Bella fan Eric Yorkie, recounted a particularly interesting offer from one eager female admirer.

"I had a lady offer me her keys to her cabin somewhere in the mountains," Chon remembered at the L.A. "Eclipse" premiere Thursday night (June 24). "And she said I could come anytime [I] wanted, just [to] let her know because she'll meet me there."

So did Chon take her up on the cabin getaway?

"No, no. I didn't go," he said. "I passed on that one."

Alex Meraz, who plays wolf pack member Paul, described a similar encounter — though his fan expressed her enthusiasm in an entirely different manner.

"I was in Miami [and] a fan was camped out for three nights [to see me]," Meraz said. "She was so excited and dehydrated that she vomited as soon as she saw me." To his credit, Meraz didn't balk at the unique reception — rather, he stuck with the fan. "I held her hair up, I patted her through it. It was a humbling moment because I thought a) she's really excited to see me, or b) she's really, really disgusted to see me," Meraz rationalized. "It kept me very very humbled. I think that sums everything up for me."

'Twilight' Author Stephenie Meyer 'Very Happy' With 'Eclipse' Film

'It's so much fun to watch,' she says of the third movie in the series.

When it comes to satisfying "Twilight" expectations, be it those of finicky film critics or easier-to-please Twilighters, no opinion carries more weight than the approval of the series creator herself. When MTV News spoke to celebrated author Stephenie Meyer, she said she is happy to just be the author who only has to come out for big premiere events once a year, versus the actors who are out doing promotion for weeks on end. Also, she is very pleased with the third adaptation of her best-selling series.

"Oh, it's really good," she said of "Eclipse." "It's so much fun to watch. One of the ways I judge a good movie is I forget to be critical because I'm just having fun — and with this one, I definitely was having a good time watching it."

When asked about the decision to go back and re-shoot the infamous and highly anticipated "tent scene," Meyer said the changes were minor, but necessary in order to fully capture the words and tone that made the scene so memorable in the book. According to Meyer, the result is "really satisfying."

"It was so simple — it was [just] a blocking issue," Meyer explained of the decision to revisit the pivotal scene. "When Bella and Jacob crawl into the sleeping bag together, he didn't put his arms around her, he was just kind of backed away from her — I wasn't [on set] that day to say, 'Hold it!' [So] we went back and put that in. I'm very happy with that."

Kristen Stewart Thinks Some 'Twilight' Merchandise Is 'Really Weird'

With any hugely successful movie franchise comes endless vehicles for promotion and opportunities for sponsored product tie-ins. Filmgoers and consumers alike are likely familiar with posters, fast-food toys, T-shirts, etc. — but with "Twilight"-related merchandise, however, the sky is really the limit. Because fans are so enthusiastic about any "Twilight" product, companies have come out of the woodwork with, in several cases, a lot of surprising products in order to capitalize on the newfangled momentum. Take, for example, "Twilight"-inspired makeup, Sweet Tarts, action figures, greeting cards, party favors — and and the list goes on and on and on. Not to mention the eyebrow-raising adult-themed items.

When MTV News caught up with the films' female star Kristen Stewart, we wondered if she had encountered any particularly odd items upon which her face had been imprinted or embossed, and whether said items provoked any emotional reaction.

"I've heard that there are pretty obscene items that you can get with the boys' faces on them," Stewart said. "And that is just actually really weird — not even funny weird, just weird." Stewart admitted that she considers the line of underwear with her co-stars' faces on them to be "funny weird," not weird-weird. She sounded relieved that her Bella-inspired items are slightly more generic. "I'm actually just on T-shirts and dolls and stuff, to be honest," she said. "I don't think I'm on bed sheets and stuff like that, which is still funny-weird."

What do you think of all the "Twilight" products on the market? What surprising or unique items would you consider buying? Tell us in the comments!

We'll be live at the L.A. premiere of "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" on Thursday, June 24. Tune in to MTV.com at 9:30 p.m. ET (8:30 Central) for our red-carpet webcast, and watch us chat with Robert, Kristen, Taylor and all your favorite stars. Eminem's 'Cinderella Man' Has A 'Stadium Feel,' Script Shepherd Says

The 25-year-old newcomer produced and sings the chorus on the Recovery track.

Script Shepherd struck gold on his first try.

The first time the 25-year-old producer/performer got one of his tracks on an album was also the first time he got to sing a guest hook on an album. Amazingly, that album happens to be one of the biggest releases of the year: Eminem's Recovery. Shepherd produced and sings the chorus on Slim Shady's "Cinderella Man."

Is the title of the song inspired by the 2005 Russell Crowe film? "Not really," Shepherd smiled. "I liked the film. But at the time, I was going through a hard time. My brother had just passed away.

"It's a stadium feel, an anthem," he added about the song. "Like marching, marching towards something. The sound is big, the message is big on the record. It's about just coming from nothing, not doubting yourself. It sounds like you're marching towards a goal. The guitars are rifting, and it has little bells keeping it melodic. It's a strong record that's motivating. And Em did something motivating with it. I just wanted to have people feel like they're moving with the record, have a 'Rocky' feel. It sounded more authentic to have people feel like they were stomping in the record."

Script said the chorus is a little abstract, but it's meant to inspire. "The hook says, 'If I had a time machine, I'd be a Cinderella man/ Music is my time machine/ Call me Cinderella man,' " Shepherd said. "Basically, it's like, music can allow you to do all types of things. You can change the world with music. You can go back and enlighten and move people forward just with sounds and connection. Music is a time machine."

Em chose the song through Shady A&R rep Riggs Morales, the same guy who played Em 50 Cent's early mixtapes before the Queens kingpin was signed to Shady/Aftermath.

Script and his team sent the track with the hook to Em's camp, but Shepherd didn't hear the finished version until a few weeks ago, when Recovery leaked.

"I was in the bathroom," he said. "My wife called me, and I thought it was a bug [in the house]. She was like, 'You gotta come now.' It was amazing. I was in the house with my family. My kids were going to sleep. I woke them up. ... It was such a tight-knit project. I didn't have a copy of it. I heard it on the Internet like everybody else, and I was the most excited person in the world, besides my wife."

Script's love of music has been a lifelong affair. In his native Toronto, his dad would play soul music by Otis Redding. Script moved to Brooklyn as a toddler, where he would get his hip-hop influence. Late, great record executive Shakir Stewart signed Script to Arista Records when he was 18 as part of the R&B group Brooklyn. The five-man team would later change their name to Roswell, but their success was not in the cards. Arista folded, and so did the group.

Script has stayed in the industry, writing songs for artists such as Sammy and submitting tracks to superstars like Usher. He went in the lab with Usher, just a week after his older brother was killed in the streets.

"Foolishness," he said of how his brother died. "He got stabbed, one time, in front of my mother. That was a hard, hard time. But I know he's happy with what I've done. Just taking that experience and not retaliating and killing somebody. ... A week later, I was in the studio with Usher. I was in the studio with Usher watching him, then I'd go in the bathroom and cry like a baby. But it's not what you go through; it's how you go through it."

Script is currently seeking a record deal for his solo career.

"Me, as a solo artist, Script Shepherd is just a lover not a fighter," he said. "I will fight for love, but I'm not a fighter. I will go to all lengths to make sure people in the world love each other. Whether I have string guitar or raps, it's all gonna be moving in the same direction. Thanks to artists like Drake, the world is more open to somebody singing and rapping now. It's time to bring a message with it. Sometimes the music gets lost in the message. I found a good balance with it. Motivate the people."

'Harry Potter' Star Daniel Radcliffe Isn't Interested In 'Another Franchise'

'Going on to any other franchise after 'Potter' might seem a little bit of a letdown,' he tells MTV News.

"Harry Potter" star Daniel Radcliffe is facing conflicting emotions these days. On one hand, Radcliffe is sad to see his time as the bespectacled hero come to an end. But on the other, he is very excited about his post-"Potter" possibilities.

When MTV News caught up with him, his role in the upcoming "All Quiet on the Western Front" had not been announced, but Radcliffe knew enough at the time to tell us: "There's lots of stuff on the horizon, but nothing in the immediate future."

Though the film world is essentially Radcliffe's oyster, given his "Potter" star power, one area in which fans are not as likely to see him is in another big franchise.

"I wouldn't like to get involved with another franchise at all, really," Radcliffe admitted. "I've done that, and I know what that's like, and it's been a wonderful thing. Going on to any other franchise after 'Potter' might seem a little bit of a letdown."

Instead, Radcliffe hopes to focus on making smaller independent films, but he didn't rule out blockbusters completely. "If the script came for an amazing huge film, it would be churlish to say no," he said.

What if said amazing script was for the role of Bilbo in "The Hobbit"? "Potter" director David Yates is rumored to be in consideration for the directing gig, after all.

"I don't think I would be asked to play Bilbo," Radcliffe said. "It's a ridiculous rivalry ["Harry Potter" vs. "Lord of the Rings"] completely built up by the media, but I certainly would be wary of getting involved in another magical fantasy franchise."

What role would you like to see Radcliffe tackle next? What kinds of films should he make? Let us know in the comments!

HARTFORD, Connecticut — On Wednesday night, swarms of teenage girls took over the XL Center in Hartford to check out Justin Bieber as he kicked off his first headlining tour, in support of his album My World 2.0. During the show, Bieber dazzled the crowd with fan favorites like "Baby," "Somebody to Love" and "One Time," but it seems the moment Bieber fans loved most was when he flew over the audience in a heart-shaped cage.

"I thought it was really cool when he came out in the heart," Kiera told MTV News as she was leaving the show. "It was, and he was, in the audience. That was pretty cool." Devin added, "I liked when he flew around in that heart thing."

The chance to get so close to their idol proved to be a highlight of the night.

With most of the glowing reviews from Bieber fans running the gamut from "great" to "amazing" to "loved it," even his older fans, like girls about four or five years older than the apparent median age of 14, caught Bieber Fever. Megan confessed, "I know I'm not supposed to be in love with someone that young, but I am."

Kristen added, "Well tonight's show was really fun, and seeing Justin Bieber in real person and [hearing him sing] was amazing."

Erin admitted that Bieber's family-friendly antics made the show even more enjoyable. "I thought it was really fun and it was really great for kids," she said. "I really enjoyed it. I kind of came in [like], 'OK, I'm not gonna enjoy it.' But I really had a lot of fun. It was a fun concert."

Bieber later tweeted that he really owed his successful first show to his fans. "When u have the support of the greatest fans in the world. U just end up smiling. Thanks," he wrote. "2nite was just...well...i was scared. Didn't want to let anyone down but the energy and the fans were incredible. Cant wait to do this again!"

Adam Lambert Says Tour Will Only Be As Wild As His Audience

'If I'm feeling a bunch of people viscerally wanting to grab at me, I'll let them grab at me,' singer says.

Adam Lambert is never one to censor himself, either onstage or during interviews, so when the unpredictable glam-pop star announced his first headlining tour, some expected he'd deliver a wild and raunchy rock-and-roll show.

It turns out Lambert's Glam Nation Tour, currently playing to packed venues across the United States, is a relatively family-friendly affair. MTV News caught up with the singer backstage at the Nokia Theatre in Times Square, where he shrugged off assumptions that his sold-out shows would not be suitable for grandma.

"What did you expect, nudity?" he laughed.

Although the choreography is no more suggestive than a Pussycat Dolls concert, Adam admitted that some nights are more outrageous than others.

"Nothing's as planned as people think. ... I'm kind of fly by the seat of my pants," Lambert told MTV News. "It's like a mirror... and whatever the audience is throwing at you, you kind of reflect, and vice versa. If I'm feeling a bunch of people viscerally wanting to grab at me, I'll let them grab at me, if I can reach them. ... If there's a cute boy in the audience, I met get a little ...you know."

Energy from his band also inspires Adam to push boundaries. Explaining Tuesday night's off-the-cuff face-licking with bassist Tommy Joe Ratliff, Lambert conceded, "I was feeling it. He had extra lip gloss on. It looked pretty. It grabbed my eye."

But no matter how revved up the "Idol" star gets — and no matter how many cute boys are cheering him on from the front row — he's learned his limits since causing a stir by simulating oral sex onstage at the American Music Awards last year. "That's for my bedroom."

Do you want Adam Lambert to let loose onstage, or would you rather he concentrated on singing? Share your opinions below.

Ludacris Says Nicki Minaj And Lil' Kim Should Make A Record Together

Luda insists that a Minaj/Kim collabo would 'kill the entire industry.'

What's a good way for Lil' Kim and Nicki Minaj to resolve their issues? Do a collabo, says Ludacris. If the two rap divas put their bewigged heads together and traded rhymes on a song, Luda thinks minds would be blown by the resulting track.

"I think if Lil' Kim and Nicki Minaj do a record together it's gonna kill the entire industry," Luda told MTV News. He added that the two femcees should take advantage of the lack of high-profile ladies in the game right now: "You don't have that many women in the industry so the lane is wide open."

The ATL rapper insisted that the two should work on music not only for themselves, but for their fans as well.

"The fact that we have females out there that's going back and forth — and I'm not saying it's either one's fault — I feel like y'all need to come together and squash all this bulls-- and make records together," Luda said. "Because [there's] a lot of women that wanna hear what the hell y'all got to say."

Other MCs have weighed in on the controversy as well. Miami hip-hop queen Trina said the Minaj and Kim drama reflects on all femcees. "This makes us all look bad. There's barely any female artists as is — we don't need this," Trina told MTV News.

50 Cent said that Kim should calm down with the swagger-jacking accusations because there is a lack of female hip-hop artists for Minaj to be inspired by. "It's obvious ... she was inspired by some of Kim's [style]. But that's not bad. There's not a whole lot of female artists that you can make reference to, so you'll see those little influences even stronger," 50 said in an interview with Power 98.3 FM in Phoenix.

Hip-hop vet Rah Digga also said the stars should keep it about the music. "My advice to everybody is just do you," Digga told MTV. "Make your music, don't pay attention to what's going on around you, just do what you do best and let the fans blog it out."

Do you think Nicki Minaj and Lil' Kim should collaborate on a song? Sound off in the comments below!

Eminem Producer Alex Da Kid Wants To 'Bounce Around Different Genres'

Posted: 24 Jun 2010 05:42 AM PDT

British producer has had a string of success with big records by Em, Nicki Minaj and B.o.B.
By Jayson Rodriguez

Producer Alex Da Kid knows that what appears to be his "breakout" run — with three scorchers in Eminem's "Love the Way You Lie," Nicki Minaj's "Massive Attack" and B.o.B's "Airplanes" — is really him having the good fortune of multiple labels releasing his productions around the same time.

He admits, though, that his phone has been ringing more lately as a result.

The British producer started out as an intern at MTV overseas before he realized he had a different life calling. He flirted with FruityLoops, crafting beats he called "the worst," and went to school to study audio technology. One of his teachers was already well-connected in the music industry and helped mentor the budding producer.

He hesitates to describe his sound, saying he wants to work with a range of artists. He does, however, own up to not being the best musician just yet.

"I play guitar really badly, and I play keyboard really badly," he told MTV News, laughing. "I'm like a bad musician. I grew up in London, and it's like, New York, there's a lot of different people and different cultures. I grew up around a lot of that. And my music is a reflection of that. I'm working on a lot of rock projects at the moment. I work on pop. I work on grimy hip-hop and everything in between. I don't really box myself in. I wanna be like a new version of Quincy Jones, where I can bounce around in different genres and still be credible and still make it work.

"I want all the money," he added, playfully.

Currently, Alex Da Kid is in the studio with Rob Thomas and Rihanna and submitting beats to the Clipse for their next project. He also recently inked his first artist, Skyler Grey, who helped him pen Rihanna's chorus for Eminem's "Love the Way You Lie."

What do you think of Alex Da Kid's work so far? Share your thoughts in the comments!
