'Hangover' Mob Boss Leads Best Villain Nominees At MTV Movie Awards

Christoph Waltz, Stephen Lang, Tom Felton and Helena Bonham Carter battle Ken Jeong to be named baddest of the bad.

There are very few characters who can get your blood churning like this year's contenders for Best Villain at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards, airing this Sunday, June 6, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. Everyone from a tyrannous queen and a Nazi commander to a mob boss and a power-hungry colonel are in the running to be named baddest of the bad.

First up is "Inglourious Basterds" star Christoph Waltz, whose stone-cold Nazi colonel, Hans Landa, proudly accepts his "Jew hunter" nickname. Will he hunt down a Golden Popcorn? Only time will tell.

Being the only lady nominated might work in Helena Bonham Carter's favor. Playing the wicked Red Queen in "Alice in Wonderland," she certainly held the imaginations of moviegoers everywhere, but can she do the same for Movie Awards voters?

All good comedies need an antagonist, and the guys in "The Hangover" found theirs in Ken Jeong. What did viewers learn from Jeong's turn as Mr. Chow? Just hope a mob boss' casino winnings don't get lost. We pray he doesn't lose at the show. Yikes!

The stars of "Avatar" proved that even in a world that only exists in the mind of James Cameron, the characters can feel as real as the people they know. And Stephen Lang's portrayal of Colonel Miles Quaritch had fans fearing for the Na'vi.

Tom Felton gave Daniel Radcliffe a run for his magic wand in "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince." Playing Harry's magical archrival, Draco Malfoy, Felton was a worthy competitor for Harry, but can he cast a spell on the Movie Awards?

Who do you think is bad enough to win at the big show? Discuss in the comments!

Don't miss the live red-carpet coverage, exclusive movie clips and fist-pumping action on MTV News' "Jersey Shore Blow-Out at the MTV Movie Awards," airing live from Los Angeles this Sunday, June 6, at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Then stay tuned for the 2010 MTV Movie Awards at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Game Skipped A Pre-Jail Video With Lil Wayne To Record With Dr. Dre

'When Dre is mixing, you don't leave,' he tells Mixtape Daily of failing to shoot an 'Everything Red' clip.

If he would have just gotten on a plane from L.A. to Miami, the Game could have added to Lil Wayne's pre-prison video-shoot marathon. The Compton MC said one of the standout cuts from his Red Room mixtape, "Everything Red," was supposed to be a single from The R.E.D. Album, but he didn't shoot a visual.

"I flaked on the video," Game said of the track, which features Lil Wayne and Birdman. "Bird was like, 'Listen, daddy, you can come down here. Junior is gonna turn himself in next Wednesday. You can come down here. We can shoot the video before Junior go in. You just have that in the safe.' I blew it. I didn't make it down. Once he went [to jail], I was like, 'I can't use this.' I didn't want to save it, so I gave it away. That was like, 'Single!' "

So what was so important that he couldn't make it to Miami for his own video? He was finishing up tracks with the most successful hip-hop producer in the world.

"I think I was in with Dr. Dre. I couldn't move," he thought back. "I think we was finishing up his records. When Dre is mixing, you don't leave. You gotta stay posted. But I couldn't move. So I gave it away. Fans appreciate it, though."

One of the Dre-produced records that will appear on his album is called "Dead People." On the track, Game thinks of who he wants to murder and how he's going to get away with it. The R.E.D. Album has been pushed back to later this summer, but the MC promised another mixtape before then.

Gabe Saporta Recalls Patriotic Make-Out Session On 'When I Was 17'

Cobra Starship frontman recounts a fateful class trip to Washington, D.C., on the latest episode.

This might not exactly come as a surprise, but when he was 17, Cobra Starship frontman Gabe Saporta was a bit of a hell-raiser. Seems that the manic mastermind behind hits like "Good Girls Gone Bad" was never far away from trouble as a teen, much to the chagrin of pretty much every authority figure around him.

"When I was 17, I was pretty much just as obnoxious as I am now, but louder," Saporta laughed. "I went against the grain a little bit, and you always get in trouble when you do that. ... Teachers hated me."

As a straight-edge kid at a Hebrew school ("We had, like, 11 periods a day," he sighed), Saporta didn't have to work very hard to stand out from the pack. It just seemed to come naturally to him, particularly on one fateful class trip to Washington, D.C., which he recounted on the latest episode of MTV's "When I Was 17," also featuring Evan Lysacek and Kimberly Caldwell.

"We went on a class trip to Washington, D.C., to learn about the history of our government ... and everyone had a hotel room, two people per room, two boys, two girls in each room," Saporta smiled. "But really, class trips are just make-out sessions, so I went and snuck into one of these girls' rooms ... only this girl that I was making out with, her roommate who she was paired up with came back and freaked out and, like, had a panic attack."

The spooked roommate grabbed a chaperone, and before he knew it, Saporta was busted. He got sent home from the trip, and even though he felt the wrath of his folks when he arrived home, he still thinks the stunt was worth it — after all, it only added to his legend.

"I got in trouble the next day, and I got sent home from the Washington trip," he said. "I got kicked off the trip, I got to make out with a girl, and everyone's like, 'Wow, you were making out with a girl and you got kicked off the trip! That rules!' "

The latest episode of "When I Was 17" — featuring Saporta, Evan Lysacek and Kimberly Caldwell — airs Saturday at 11 a.m. on MTV.

'Modern Warfare 2' Resurgence Pack Released On Xbox Live

Downloadable pack adds five new maps for online combat.

With Thursday's (June 3) release of new maps for "Modern Warfare 2," the biggest entertainment launch of 2009 has gotten a little bigger. Called the Resurgence Pack, this download-only content is available exclusively on Xbox Live and adds five maps to the game's online multiplayer modes.

The Resurgence Pack is a mix of new and old. Three of the maps are made up of completely original content, while the remaining two are based on popular maps from the original "Modern Warfare." Here's a brief rundown of what you can expect to see in each of the maps:

Fuel

This wide-open map set around an oil refinery is one of the largest yet seen in "Modern Warfare 2." Separated between two main buildings, the design encourages a focus on rooftop sniping, as well as window-to-window combat.

Trailer Park

Much smaller and more cramped than Fuel, Trailer Park takes place in and around a variety of motor homes and picnic tables. The tightly spaced lots mean numerous corridors and choke points, so if you're lacking in quick reflexes, you're going to have some trouble here.

Carnival

The only thing scarier than clowns? Nothing. But guys with guns is a close second. Carnival takes place on abandoned fairgrounds, with rides and attractions left to rust. The map is broken up into themed areas ranging from the futuristic to the medieval, and players can use obvious landmarks such as castles and rocket ships to coordinate their efforts.

Strike

Returning from the original "Modern Warfare," Strike features a Mideast setting and some reasonably frantic urban combat. Small changes were made to some of the buildings in Strike, requiring new tactics for success.

Vacant

Set in an abandoned Russian office complex, Vacant is the second returning map. Its popularity peaked during the original "Modern Warfare" beta, so its return should be appreciated by many. The developers made some tweaks to the layout of the map, though, so players should take it slow the first time through.

The Resurgence Pack is available on Xbox Live for 1,200 Microsoft Points ($15). The pack will see release on PlayStation 3 and PC later this summer.

MTV News correspondent Sway Calloway and his "World Famous Wake Up Show" radio partner King Tech will premiere the video for their new "2010 Wake Up Show Anthem" on MTV Jams this Sunday. The track — featuring Cypress Hill's B-Real, Ras Kass, Tech N9ne, Crooked I, Kam Moye and Bay Area rapper Locksmith — is the follow-up to the duo's breakout hit, 1999's "The Anthem," which featured an array of MCs, including Eminem, Wu-Tang Clan's the RZA, Xzibit, Pharoahe Monch and Kool G. Rap, among others.

The original track became the standout on the longtime radio hosts' album This or That. "The Anthem" also served as an audio pep rally for Sway and Tech's historic radio show, which has showcased once-upcoming MCs like Em, Big L and Common.

"For the 'Wake Up Show Anthem,' it's just usually people or artists that we respect, who are known spitters that innovated their own styles," Sway explained of the posse cuts. "Someone like the RZA a.k.a. Bobby Digital, there's something really distinct about when he came out early in his career as Prince Raheem and then into the Wu-Tang Clan. He's always had a distinct voice and distinct way that he spit his lyrics.

"I think it goes without saying that Eminem is one of the most gifted lyricists to ever touch a mic," Sway continued.

For the updated set, Sway and Tech kept with tradition and selected a lineup of wordsmiths who tangle words together like a tricky knot.

"We try to put together MCs that we feel will have a great synergy and represent something that's important to hip-hop," Sway said.

Drake's Thank Me Later Leak: Why Bloggers Aren't Posting New Songs

Posted: 02 Jun 2010 04:29 AM PDT

'Enough is enough,' one blogger tells MTV News about the proliferation of leaked hip-hop albums.
By Shaheem Reid

Drake might be a budding superstar, but he's gotta eat. That seems to be the consensus on the major hip-hop blogs, many of which have decided not to post more songs — many of them unfinished — from the Toronto MC's forthcoming Thank Me Later LP, which leaked early Wednesday (June 2).

Many times in the past — with Jay-Z's Blueprint 3, Lil Wayne's Tha Carter III and Kanye West's 808s and Heartbreak — we've seen blogs post a myriad of songs immediately after the album leaks. While they might not post the entire album, you'd get at least three new joints from it. With Drake, however, most blogs have decided to ignore Thank Me Later's early, unplanned release.

"Enough is enough," Andrew Barber of FakeShoreDrive.com told MTV News on Wednesday. "I know, for my credibility, we kinda already take enough from the artists. I know it's a give-and-take relationship, but we already take enough from the artists. At a certain point, you have to take a stand. Most ethical blogs won't post the album or keep posting [individual songs]. At a certain point, you're cutting into their sales. Its one thing to post a few songs, but to post every single song, that's basically pirating. That's where I draw the line."

"To be fair," RapRadar.com founder Elliot Wilson said, "I think a lot of the sites, when the album fully leaks, they don't put up the full album leaks. They kinda slowed down on the leaks and they'll make the bold statement, they'll decide, 'This is the last leak we're gonna put up from the project.' "

Sure enough, on Wednesday morning, NahRight.com posted a CD-quality version of the Drake/Jay-Z lyrical throwdown "Light Up." At the end of the post a message read: "Last Thank Me Later leak we're posting here. June 15th."

"You've gotta credit Drake, especially with NahRight and other sites," Wilson added. "He was well-connected to those guys. You do form relationships, and again, as a rap fan, you sort of think a lot of these bloggers are fans at the end of the day. They don't want to hurt his sales. You start looking in the mirror — we got excited by [Jay Electronica's] 'Exhibit C.' When it went to iTunes, we was rallying people to go buy it legally just to support the movement of this new energy in hip-hop. I think those people are taking stock and they want Drake to do well also. He comes from them. He has a line in the new album about the backpack guy who's getting to this level. He did his due diligence. He went through the blogs. So much of So Far Gone's initial ascent was from the blogs. In terms of good will, they don't wanna come back now and do anything they feel could possibly hurt him."

NahRight captains a conglomerate of blogs known as the New Music Cartel: YouHeardThatNew.com, 2DopeBoyz.com, DaJaz1.com, OnSmash.com, and XclusivesZone.net are also affiliated. The NMC has become known as the leading source of new hip-hop music to hit the Internet, even getting tracks before some top DJs.

"I think many of the top blogs posted the memorable or anticipated tracks from the album for their readers but refused to post more," XclusiveZone's Mr. X said. "It's not only because of Drake — I can speak for myself and possibly the NMC, we don't post full albums. We give the readers a sample of what they want to hear but tell them to support [artists], and always plug in the release date. But with Drake, because the anticipation was so high, everyone expected us to post the full album. We want to see him go gold or platinum the first week. We aren't trying to take from someone's plate — we're all trying to eat together. We never condone unauthorized leaks but if something does leak, it's best to take it and move on. Look at Drake's response to his album leaking: 'I gave away free music for years so we're good over here.' That made me respect him even more. It's better than crying about it. The track is already out. Enjoy the free promotion, I guess."

So the question is, will Drake's leak hurt his album sales? Perhaps not — there hasn't been a single hip-hop LP in recent memory that didn't doesn't get leaked. In Drake's case, he may be one of the lucky ones: Some artists' albums get leaked as far as a month out (in the case of Lil Wayne's Rebirth, four months). Thank Me Later hit the black market less than two weeks from its June 15 release date.

"I don't think it's gonna hurt him," Wilson said. "I think it's close enough to the release date. There's a lot of people that want to support him. This is a moment that we've been waiting for. I've been trying to figure out what this feels like and what makes this different. Even though this is a debut album, it's not like 50 Cent's Get Rich or Die Tryin' or Kanye's College Dropout, in the sense of 'this person really heated up the game.' We all kind of like wanted to be a part of this guy celebrating and reaching that level. I feel like with this Drake situation, it's kinda similar to Wayne where he's already killed it on a lot of levels. He's on so many hits, this is kind of like his ascension. If this record does get embraced the way people think it will be, it will [definitely make him] the next star — which reminds me of the way Tha Carter III went down, where Wayne set the table of him being the next dude but you needed the album to really prove it. Even though Drake is unproven as far as putting out a debut album, he's been part of so much success already."

What do you think about Drake's album leaking? Has this gone on long enough? Let us know in the comments below!

Eminem Talks Lil Wayne, Rihanna And Pink Recovery Collabos

'Wayne, to me, is definitely one of the greatest in the game right now,' Em says during French radio interview.

The elusive Eminem spoke to Skyrock Radio in Paris over the weekend and offered a tiny peek at what he has in store for his upcoming Recovery album.

While most of the interview consisted of Em cracking jokes with the French DJs, he did briefly touch on hooking up with the incarcerated Lil Wayne on "No Love," as well as Pink on "Won't Back Down" and Rihanna on "Love the Way You Lie."

"I've always respected what Wayne does, and Wayne, to me, is definitely one of the greatest in the game right now," he said of Weezy, who is in the midst of a yearlong prison stretch on gun charges. "As far as the songs with Pink and Rihanna ... when I did the song that I did with Pink, I laid my parts first and kind of heard her on the record and felt that she would smash this record. And the other one I did with Rihanna is one of those tracks that I felt like only she could pull it off, only she could do it."

He also dropped the first hints about what the video for lead single "Not Afraid" might look like. Promising that it was coming soon (he mentioned "Saturday" but didn't go into any other detail), Shady said, "The video is ... kind of just ... there's a lot of things in it that are metaphorically speaking. There are things that are symbolic in the video. ... The overall concept is basically being in a dark place and trying to get to the light."

Among the topics he touched on were 50 Cent slimming down for his upcoming role in "Things Fall Apart," in which he plays a cancer-stricken football player. "That's crazy," Shady said when talk turned to 50's shocking weight loss. While trying to find out more French cuss words in order to hit on a comely lady named Marie in the studio, Slim Shady deferred to longtime manager Paul Rosenberg when pressed about why the rapper did not make France one of his three tour stops on his upcoming European swing.

The interview ended with Em expressing mystification over why people are so excited about soccer's upcoming World Cup, a stance that might mean he'll have some 'splaining to do when he hits the stages in football-crazy Switzerland and the U.K. in July. "Is it politically incorrect if I said I didn't like soccer?" he asked. "I'm not a big soccer fan."

Nikki Reed Talks 'Breaking Dawn' Negotiations, MTV Movie Awards

Posted: 02 Jun 2010 06:06 AM PDT

'I still won't be nominated for Best Kiss, because I never kiss anyone!' she laughs about her 'Twilight' character.
By Ryan J. Downey

When it comes to believing rumors about the "Twilight" cast, Nikki Reed has some simple advice straight out of the '80s hip-hop playbook: Don't believe the hype.

"I think it's kind of an obvious thing that we would all come back to do ['Breaking Dawn']," the 22-year-old actress told MTV News on Tuesday, addressing a rumor to the contrary that said salary disputes threatened to sideline one or more of her castmates. "The media gets involved. I mean, I didn't really read anything that was printed," she said, adding with a laugh: "At least the things that were printed about me."

While Reed isn't reading the blogs, trades or tabloids, sometimes her parents are. "I get the occasional phone call from my mom or my dad going, like, 'Hey, is this true? I heard that.' And I'm like, 'No! No, I'm not having a baby. No, I'm not! And yes I'm doing "Breaking Dawn"!' [Laughs.] It's always random."

A collective sigh of relief came from Twilighters worldwide when it was confirmed that Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and the rest of the cast would, in fact, reunite for director Bill Condon's take on the fourth and final "Twilight Saga" book, "Breaking Dawn."

"Of course we're all going to do the fourth movie. We did the first, second and third, and it makes sense, because we love the books and we want to make these movies," she said. Perhaps wary of contributing to complicated reports herself, Reed quickly added: "I mean, I'm speaking for myself, I guess."

Reed first caught the attention of moviegoers in "Thirteen," the 2003 teen drama she co-wrote when she was just that age herself. Reed's "Thirteen" co-writer and director, Catherine Hardwicke, went on to cast her in the first "Twilight" movie, which launched the franchise just two years ago.

Last year's "New Moon" is nominated in multiple categories at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards, including Best Movie, but Reed insisted, "We should all win," noting, "I'm very diplomatic."

While it seems assured that all the "Twilight" movies will end up nominated at future Movie Awards, there's one category currently featuring two of her co-stars she's confident she'll never appear in. "I still won't be nominated for Best Kiss, because I never kiss anyone!" she laughed.

MTV Movie Awards Host Aziz Ansari Gets Advice From Russell Brand, Sarah Jessica Parker, Snooki

Judd Apatow, past Movie Awards host Andy Samberg also give tips -- show airs Sunday at 9 p.m. ET on MTV!

UNIVERSAL CITY, California — It might be the biggest night of his life. On Sunday, June 6, at exactly 9 p.m. ET, 27-year-old Aziz Ansari will walk out onto the stage at the Gibson Amphitheatre to host the 2010 MTV Movie Awards. The seats will be filled with Hollywood's elite, celebs will be frittering to and fro backstage as they await their various show duties, and millions of fans will be watching at home. In short, the pressure will be on.

But it's a job Aziz is ready for. From his co-starring spot on NBC's "Parks and Recreation" to his improv work on MTV's "Human Giant" to his creation of bombastic comedian Raaaaaaaandy, one thing Ansari can be trusted to do is make people laugh, and then laugh some more.

Still, the guy has got to be sweating a bit as the big day approaches. But luckily he's got the support of Hollywood behind him, and the likes of Russell Brand, Sarah Jessica Parker and "Jersey Shore" star Snooki weighed in with advice for Ansari.

"Hosting — it's so hard!" said two-time VMA host Brand, not so much offering advice as a stern warning. "You're there for ages. It's all the panic, the dress rehearsals, people don't turn up. It's difficult."

Parker, who hosted the MTV Movie Awards in 2000, had one helpful tip for Aziz's body and mind. "I would say have plenty of fluids backstage, perhaps intravenously!" she said.

"Jersey Shore" star Snooki — who will be MTV News' guest correspondent on the Movie Awards red carpet Sunday — had one specific suggestion for the type of fluid Ansari would be wise to imbibe come Sunday night. "Just have a couple shots before you get on," she said. "You're probably going to be very nervous in front of all these celebrities, millions of people on TV. Pretty much, just down a bottle of tequila and you're good. It washes out the nerves!"

One man who's quite familiar with those Movie Awards nerves is Andy Samberg, who hosted the show last year and was not worried about Ansari. "I don't need to give Aziz any advice," Samberg said. "He's great. I think he's gonna kill it. He's a friend of mine and one of the funniest dudes I know. I'm really excited just to see it."

Another of the funniest dudes in Hollywood, Judd Apatow, couldn't let Aziz assume hosting duties without giving him a good-natured ribbing. "He's a cocky young man," Apatow said of Ansari. "He's not afraid. He should be afraid!"

3OH!3's 'My First Kiss' Video Premieres -- Watch It Here!

Posted: 02 Jun 2010 05:28 AM PDT

The electro-punk duo (and Ke$ha) smooch subtlety goodbye in eye-popping new clip.
By James Montgomery

Subtlety has never really been 3OH!3's strong suit.

Previous hits like "Starstrukk" and "Don't Trust Me" were unabashed odes to excess and rather wanton stupidity. "House Party," the sort-of first single off their upcoming Streets of Gold album, is about, well, throwing an awesome house party. And "My First Kiss," the proper first single from Gold, is also in keeping with that titling tradition: It's a song about kissing.

Fittingly, it has a rather eye-popping, over-the-top video, one that features a whole lot of folks smooching (geriatrics, punks, teachers, sailors, soldiers, lesbians, nerds and hirsute rockers, to name a few), some really bright colors, the occasional close-up of a pair of lips and not much else. Oh, and Ke$ha — she's in it too. The duo behind 3OH!3 bounce around and throw punches at the camera. Sean Foreman shouts about kisses that get him drunk like whiskey and, at one point, rhymes "candy" with "panties."

Like we said, these aren't the subtlest dudes in the world.

Still, like pretty much everything 3OH!3 do, there's an undeniable charm to both the song and the video. Perhaps it's the power-tool chorus, or the "ooh-ooh-ooh" vocal harmonies. Maybe it's Ke$ha's sexy sass. Or maybe I just like watching a whole bunch of people lock lips. The whole thing is a lot of fun. It gets in your head. And hey, it's the summer — school's out, and gleefully stupid is in.

So, while concepts like "restraint" might not be in their wheelhouse, 3OH!3 are pretty great when it comes to making outrageous, hormonally charged pop. And "My First Kiss" is more of that. Subtle? No. Smart? Most definitely.

What do you think of the "My First Kiss" video? Let us know in the comments!

The Game says there is absolutely no dissing on his upcoming LP, The R.E.D Album. He's in such a peaceful place, even in private, that Game told his friends that he declined to throw jabs at 50 Cent's much-publicized weight loss for his "Things Fall Apart" film, photos of which rocketed across the Internet last week.

"All my boys was sending me pictures of 50 where he sucked up, looking like a smoker, lost all the weight," Game told MTV News on Wednesday (June 2). "They were looking for me to give them some type of funny feedback or clown with it. But all I saw was a dude that's trying to win an award for playing a cancer patient and really look like a cancer patient. I do my own assessment of character judgment. Right here in my mind, I was like, 'See? Progress!' That's what I'm on today, man. But I have the right to get in your ass if I need to."

Game and 50 have had a contentious relationship ever since Game's acrimonious split from G-Unit some five years ago.

The R.E.D. Album isn't coming out next month as planned. Game is still working on the opus.

"It was July 6," he says. "But they done pushed it back three times. I feel they're doing it for a reason. I feel as long as the music is classic and the music is there, a month or two won't hurt. And it'll only give more time to perfect my craft."

Game's new single is called "Ain't No Doubt About It" and features Justin Timberlake. The two recently shot a video for the song.

It's been exactly one week, but Lee DeWyze still can't believe he won "American Idol." The words seem strange even coming out of his mouth.

"Yeah, it's weird to say it, man," he told MTV News on Wednesday (June 2). "I'm lovin' it, to be sure, but man, it feels weird to say ' "American Idol" champion.' "

To further illustrate that point, DeWyze said he can't really remember how he felt — or what he did — when "Idol" host Ryan Seacrest announced that he'd been crowned the champ of season nine. It's all just one rather glorious, delirious blur.

"I was lost, dude. I didn't know where I was! It was so crazy and intense, because everything we've done had led up to that point. And it was like, 'And the winner is ... ' And then there's like the six-month pause, and then he says my name, and I was like, 'Wow,' " he laughed. "It was just a big weight off my shoulders, and it felt amazing. I had it in my head what I would say or do if I won or if I lost, and all of that went out the window. ... I've watched it back, and I try to remember what it was like. There's some parts I don't really remember. I remember being up there, and then the next thing you know, I was in the room with the press. It was just really fast and nonstop."

And things haven't really let up since then. There has been the constant promotional cycle that comes with winning "Idol" — the performances and the appearances on TV shows — and then the upcoming American Idols Live! Tour. DeWyze doesn't mind all the fuss that comes with winning the show ("Why would I complain about any of it?" he laughed), but more than anything, he's really looking forward to getting into a recording studio to begin work on his album — which he'll do whenever he has a free moment in between tour stops.

"The studio and the stage are obviously two completely different things, so it's going to be interesting to see how going from the live performances to the recording and back is going to pan out, but I'm really looking forward to it, because I'm going to have a lot of say in it," he said. "I think that's another misconception about 'American Idol,' is that once you go on there, you're forced to do this or forced to wear that ... we're not. We get a lot of freedom and a lot of say. So I'm just looking forward to making a record I can be proud of."

What will that record sound like? Well, it's still early, but DeWyze said fans can expect to hear some different sides of him — the kind of stuff he didn't really get to show off on "Idol." Though he knows winning the show only raises expectations, he's ready and willing to take on the task at hand and whatever tasks come after that.

"I'm sure there's going to be elements of pop somewhere in there, there always is, and elements of rock and a folky feel. I'm not trying to go out there and do something that's never been done. It's all been done ... and I think now, it's more or less an opportunity for people to show who they are through their music," he said. "I'm not here to change the music world, but I'm definitely here to show what I can do and express myself through my music. So to do that's going to be cool, and to prove myself. Because I don't feel that, just because I won 'American Idol,' that, you know, now I've made it. There's a lot to prove still. There's an album to put out, and I'm looking forward to it. It's all about the process for me, you know? Just making the album, touring, doing all that stuff and seeing where I'm at in a year from now."

Ashton Kutcher Asks: 'How Does Robert Pattinson Not Win Every Award?'

Posted: 02 Jun 2010 05:04 AM PDT

The 'Killers' star is just as dedicated as Twilighters to making sure RPattz dominates the MTV Movie Awards.

HOLLYWOOD — Last year, Robert Pattinson won three Golden Popcorn statues at the MTV Movie Awards. At the 2010 show, he's up for another three potential wins, including Best Male Performance and Best Kiss.

Most avid Twilighters would say that's pretty darn good work for the 24-year-old actor. Others might argue that such awards-show recognition just ain't enough respect for the British heartthrob.

By "others," we mean Ashton Kutcher, who made a not entirely convincing (but nonetheless amazing) case to MTV News that Pattinson should never lose a single award — regardless of genre or gender specificity. Ever.

"How does Robert Pattinson not win every award ever invented?" he asked us Tuesday night on the "Killers" red carpet, just days before Pattinson and his "Twilight" cohorts descend on the Movie Awards. "How does he not win every award ever?"

Kutcher was only getting started. In an extended, dramatic-pause-assisted monologue, the King of Twitter made clear to what extent he'd be willing to go to defend the honor — and the awards-show dignity — of everyone's favorite smoldering teen vampire.

"Like, I almost got up onstage this year at the Grammys when he didn't win and almost kicked Taylor Swift off," he said. "Because I'm like, 'What's up? Robert Pattinson should have won this.'

"And the Emmys are coming up too," he continued. "And I might go and just be like, 'What's up? Robert Pattinson should have won this.' And then, at the Oscars, if 'Precious' is nominated for something next year again for some reason, I'll just be like, 'Robert Pattinson should have won this.'

"Or Ben Affleck," he added with a deadpan grin. "One or another."

Kanye West's 'Power' Lets Fans Know 'He's Back,' Dwele Says

'All I did was my thing: I added harmonies and lent my instrument for the joint,' singer tells MTV News.

Dwele's voice has graced two of Kanye West's moodiest songs, "Flashing Lights" and his most recent number, "Power." But the Detroit native insists his contributions to the superstar MC's work are minimal at best, despite their chemistry.

"I got there [to the studio], and 'Ye had an idea for what he wanted for the song," Dwele told MTV News about "Power." "So that's all his creation. Pretty much all I did was my thing: I added harmonies and lent my instrument for the joint."

The singer's voice highlights the song's epic bridge, where his melody mixes with the vocal sample from British rock band King Crimson's "21st Century Schizoid Man."

"Now, this would be a beautiful death," Kanye raps while Dwele sings: "I'm jumping out the window/ I'm letting everything go/ I'm letting everything go."

"I think it's dope," Dwele said. "I think [the record] is doing what it's supposed to do, as far as letting people know he's back to rapping. He got some bars on that joint. I enjoy it. It's one of those joints. I roll down the windows and ride out to it. I usually don't play stuff that I'm on, but that song bangs."

Dwele is prepping the release of his next album, Wants World Women, later this month, June 29. The project is broken up into three sections, the first focusing on his alter ego and the last on classic "baby-making music." (He directed three different commercials to highlight all three sections.)

The middle section (World) addresses current events, in the vein of projects by Donny Hathaway and Marvin Gaye, Dwele said.

"It's an audio time capsule of things going on in the world right now or with the economy, across the world and in our country the past few years," he explained. "I've had a few songs for a few years now that I wanted to get out, and I really didn't have the platform to get those out. So I felt like making a specific section on this album. It kind of came as an outlet or gave me the role to finally do it."

Drake announced via Twitter on Tuesday that he would be visiting his mentor in prison on Wednesday (June 2).

"FINALLY got some time for a visit tmrw to go see my brother," Drake wrote. "So if you got msgs that need to be delivered write #TellWayne."

The Toronto MC has been on the road and putting the final touches on his debut, Thank Me Later, since Weezy turned himself in to prison back in March.

In an interview Drake gave to MTV Jams in honor of Lil Tunechi Weekend, the So Far Gone superstar admitted he missed his Young Money cohort, from their friendly rivalry to the veteran rapper's guidance.

"One of the most important things in my life was being able to always see that Weezy e-mail come in," Drake explained while donning a white T-shirt emblazoned with the rapper's face and the words "Free Wayne." "Or be able to respond to that e-mail or be able to ask him a question. Be able to utilize his knowledge. Our communication, I would say I miss that."

Since the rapper has been away, Drake has done his best to keep Lil Wayne's name alive, from shouting him out at shows to bringing him up in interviews.

Wayne has done a good job himself of staying active in the public's mind, releasing a spate of videos and hosting a mixtape from behind bars.

According to the New York City Department of Correction website, Wayne is allowed visits on Wednesdays between the hours of 12:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.

The two will be allocated an hour of time for the visit and Drake will be subjected to multiple searches before he'll come face to face with Wayne.

Fans have followed Drake's instructions and are hoping he relays a number of messages, including notes of support and wishes for Wayne's next album to arrive soon.

Drizzy also will be relaying a message from his own mother to Wayne.

"I talked to mother, she loves you to death," Drake told MTV. "That's from Mama Graham."

UNIVERSAL CITY, California — Zach Galifianakis was everywhere in 2009. There was his breakout turn as a loveable bearded doofus in "The Hangover," his co-starring role as a loveable bearded doofus in HBO's "Bored to Death" and all manner of Web vids and big-screen cameos as a ... well, you get the idea.

In that inimitable deadpan manner of his, Galifianakis professes to be utterly sick of himself. He's in the minority. Fans have voted him into the category of Best Breakout Star at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards. And while the voting is still going on over at MovieAwards.MTV.com, Galifianakis assessed his competitors and came away convinced another star would walk away with the win this Sunday.

He called "Up in the Air" actress Anna Kendrick "good," while Chris Pine of "Star Trek" was dubbed a "handsome man."

Of Oscar-nominated Gabourey Sidibe ("Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire"), Galifianakis said with a devilish grin, "I haven't seen that movie, but she and I have the same trainer."

Nor had Zach checked out the "The Blind Side," though he wished Quinton Aaron "good luck" in the Breakout Star category. Which brought Galifianakis back to Sidibe.

"This woman should win it," he declared.

Not that he'll be there to take in the festivities at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California. "When is it?" he asked us at one point.

Sunday, June 6, Zach.

"Oooh boy," he responded.

What, you have somewhere better to be?

"You know what? I can't," he confessed. "I have a palm reading that day."

Master P Talks No Limit Records, 2010 'VH1 Hip Hop Honors'

'There's no such thing as too much music,' the Dirty South honoree recalls of how he ran pioneering record label.

At its zenith, Master P's No Limit Records was cranking out albums like a factory and collecting plaques that matched the gold and platinum tanks that dangled from P's chains. His business plan was simple, succinct and, to some, foolish.

These days, however, P is hailed as a pioneer for his decision to flood the market — beginning in the early 1990s — with a steady stream of his own albums, as well as projects by Tru, Mia X and a bevy of New Orleans talent. His business acumen helped pave the way for Cash Money, Young Money, Grand Hustle and a host of Southern labels.

For his groundbreaking impact, P will be among those feted at the 2010 "VH1 Hip Hop Honors: The Dirty South,", joining Timbaland, Jermaine Dupri, Rap-A-Lot Records founder J Prince, Luther Campbell and 2 Live Crew and Outkast producers Organized Noize. The show, set to be taped at Manhattan's Hammerstein Ballroom, airs Monday, June 7, at 9 p.m. ET on VH1.

"When it comes down to putting out records, people are afraid. They say, 'I don't want to put out too many records,' " P told MTV News when we caught up with him during rehearsals for "Hip Hop Honors" on Wednesday (June 2). The No Limit founder recalled that his aggressive output was controversial at the time, but he had his reasons for pushing forward.

"My thing was, with No Limit, when you're hot, you're hot, you give 'em whatever you can give 'em," P said. "That's what I teach my family: When you got 'em, give it to 'em, 'cause when you got a fanbase, feed that fanbase. There's no such thing as too much music. We accomplished something that nobody did, to be able to sell 75 million records independently and to be honored for hip-hop is a blessing and lets you know we been dong the right thing."

Master P will be celebrated with performances by his son Romeo, Silkk the Shocker, Trina, Mystikal and Gucci Mane, with Kid Capri manning the turntables during the medley.

Meanwhile, P has been revving up for the next incarnation of No Limit. He's dubbed himself the "Archie Manning of hip-hop," with his two rapper sons, Romeo and Valentino, standing in for Eli and Peyton. And P's younger brother Silkk is still carrying the torch; his next release is due this summer.

Silkk told MTV News he's had the best seat from which to witness his brother's success, and getting to pay him back with a performance is "amazing."

"With me, first of all, shouts out to him, 'cause I got to see greatness for a long time," Silkk said. "It's very good to finally see him get honored for it. And then, I think a lot of people out there also appreciate what he's done. I perform all the time, but to actually perform and give back to him and show him what he means to us, that's amazing for me."

Is Mariah Carey Pregnant?

For months, the rumor mill has been speculating that Mariah Carey is pregnant with her and Nick Cannon's first child — rumors that went into overdrive when it was announced last week that Carey would no longer be starring in Tyler Perry's latest opus, "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf."

On Wednesday (June 2), a "source close to" the couple told RadarOnline.com that they are expecting.

"They're both very excited and very happy," the source reportedly said. "Mariah and Nick want to keep the pregnancy quiet as long as they can."

Reps for Carey and Cannon had not responded to MTV News' request for comment at press time.

Recently, Cannon hedged that the pair's dog is pregnant, but many wondered if he was just toying with the media over the speculation.

According to an article on UsMagazine.com that was published Wednesday but was apparently no longer on the site at press time, he told fans over the weekend that "the bump is bigger. You can almost see it now!"

Radar further reports that Carey never left the couple's car on Saturday, the day Cannon reportedly spoke to fans, when they were seen going for a drive along the Malibu coastline.

However, after she dropped out of the Perry flick, her rep told Us, "She is not doing the movie because her doctor advised her not to. More than that, I cannot comment further."

Earlier this year, Cannon told MTV News that the couple "absolutely plan to have a family. But we gotta prioritize, because that's a major, major priority. That's like the only priority in life, when you think about it, is starting and raising a family. We wanna make sure everything is out of the way and that we don't have any distractions."

The time has almost come to return to the Shore! With the season-two premiere of "Jersey Shore" quickly approaching, fans are clamoring for details — and they're sure to get plenty when the show's entire cast appears on the red carpet the MTV Movie Awards pre-show, airing live at 8:00 p.m. ET on Sunday. During MTV News' "Jersey Shore Blow-Out at the MTV Movie Awards," the gang will also present the first 10 minutes of the show's second season.

On Tuesday, MTV News caught up with Jenni "JWoww" Farley to get some inside info on what viewers can expect from the second season, which debuts July 29, as well as her thoughts on the cast's field trip to Miami, where they filmed the first part of the new season.

"Everything was amazing," she said, mentioning the beautiful beaches, clear water and the people of Miami as highlights. "We were [welcomed with] open arms. There was no drama, they loved us, so it was easy on us."

Farley said the cast enjoyed their trip, but by the time filming wrapped in the Sunshine State, they were ready to go back to their house in Seaside Heights. "I'm definitely a Jersey Shore kind of girl," she said. "I loved Miami. The clubs stay open later when it's all said and done. But Jersey Shore ... you have to be on the Shore."

Regarding the big changes from season one to season two, Farley said she and her co-stars' newfound celebrity hasn't affected them too much. "We're still the same people," she said, but season two is going to pack a major punch.

"There's 1,000 times more drama, 1,000 times more fights, makeups, breakups," Farley promised. "We've become a bigger family, more close. It's overall 1,000 times better than the first season."

Season two of "Jersey Shore" premieres Thursday, July 29, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. Be there!
