UNIVERSAL CITY, California — Nothing is sacred anymore, including fan favorites "New Moon" and "Avatar," which are tied for five nominations each at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards. The writing team working with Aziz Ansari said anything can happen once the "wild card" host hits the stage.

"There's a lot of things we can't make jokes about," writer Mike Mitchell told MTV News backstage at the Gibson Amphitheatre, during a break from writing for the show. "You never want to be too mean." But, as his colleague Dave Ferguson added: "You never know what Aziz is going to throw in there."

Already planned and on the docket are jokes and moments that are "super political this year," fellow writer Chelsea Peretti added: "So a lot of that and then some crazy dancing."

While she might not have been referring to the epic "New Moon" vs. "Avatar" battle, that too seems pretty political. So where does the crew of Movie Awards writers stand on the issue? "I'm gonna go with 'New Moon,' " Peretti said. "I love it! I'm sorry, everyone."

In a battle of the sexes, her male colleagues all picked "Avatar," which they teased would be very well-represented in the show's jokes. Mitchell had a whole other team he wanted to join: "I'm on Aziz's team!"

There is one moment the writers teased that they think fans will really enjoy, aside from RPattz and KStew sightings. "I think there's a reunion of sorts on the show; I think I can say that. ... [A] 'Cosby Show' reunion," Mitchell joked, before really sharing: "There's an MTV reunion of sorts I believe on the show as well. Is that too much to say?"

One of the hottest categories (literally) at Sunday's 2010 MTV Movie Awards will be Best Kiss, and there's plenty of lip-smacking smooches to drool over.

Kristen Stewart has two chances to pick up some Golden Popcorn in the coveted category, as she's nominated for her kisses with Dakota Fanning in "The Runaways" and with Robert Pattinson in "The Twilight Saga: New Moon."

"Jersey Shore" starlet Snooki knows a thing or two about locking lips, but even she was shocked at the amount of action Kristen got onscreen. "And I'm the whore!" she told MTV News when asked which Kristen kiss was hottest.

She even predicted some trouble for the (rumored) "Twilight" couple if the "Runaways" kiss takes home the gold. "If Kristen wins with Dakota, Rob is going to be very jealous," she said. "But, you know, maybe he'll be a little excited!"

It's possible the two Kristen kisses will split the votes and neither will end up on top, giving fellow nominees Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds from "The Proposal," Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner from "Valentine's Day" or Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington from the blockbuster "Avatar" a path to victory. You'll just have to tune in Sunday to find out the results!

During MTV News' "Jersey Shore Blow-Out at the MTV Movie Awards," which airs at 8 p.m., right before the Movie Awards, Snooki, Pauly, JWoww, the Situation, Angelina, Sammi, Ronnie and Vinny will present the first 10 minutes of "Jersey Shore" season two. The new season, which premieres in full on Thursday, July 29, follows the cast as they leave the chilly winter waters of Seaside Heights and head out on a road trip to Miami.

UNIVERSAL CITY, California -- All week long, we've been running around the Gibson Amphitheatre as the 2010 MTV Movie Awards come to life in front of our eyes: the celebrity participants, the action-packed performances, the oodles of surprise moments that we've got in store for you come Sunday night's live show. And at every turn, we've been bringing you Movie Awards teasers about it all.

Then it hit us: Enough with these nuggets of insidery goodness! Let's just pull back the curtain and tell you exactly what's in the pipeline for the show's first act.

You'll see the list of celebs appearing during the show -- names like Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Christina Aguilera, Katy Perry, Cameron Diaz, Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Sean "Diddy" Combs and many more.

It wouldn't be a proper Movie Awards without a slew of movie spoofs, and that's exactly what you'll get next. Host Aziz Ansari will be popping up in twisted takes on the year's top films. Which flicks will he spoof? Stay tuned. (You didn't think we'd tell you everything, did you?)

From there, Aziz will make an over-the-top entrance. "He'll arrive onstage in a special vehicle," hinted supervising producer Jane Mun. "It's a surprise."

Once onstage, Aziz will launch into his monologue. Following the host's string of jokes, the cast of "Grown Ups" -- Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade and Rob Schneider -- will take the stage. "They have a really fun onstage script that they have been crafting for the last two weeks," Mun said.

And then it's time for the first award of the evening: Best Female Performance. Kristen Stewart ("New Moon") will face off against Amanda Seyfried ("Dear John"), Emma Watson ("Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince"), Sandra Bullock ("The Blind Side") and Zoe Saldana ("Avatar").

While the winner of that award will have already been decided by the time the show starts at 9 p.m. ET on Sunday, June 6, the Best Movie category will remain open for fan voting throughout the show. Jessica Biel And Bradley Cooper Need To Catch Up On 'Jersey Shore'

They better hurry -- the 'Jersey Shore' cast will join the 'A-Team' stars on the MTV Movie Awards red carpet Sunday!

Given the fact that the impeccably coiffed folks from MTV's "Jersey Shore" are virtually everywhere these days, it's hard to imagine that anyone isn't on a first-name basis with the castmembers. But it turns out that some actors and filmmakers simply don't budget enough time into their superstar schedules to keep tabs on Snooki, JWoww and the rest of the crew.

When asked if he were familiar with the show, Bradley Cooper, who is presenting Best Kiss at Sunday's MTV Movie Awards ceremony, told MTV Movies: "I am ashamed to say that I am not, because all of my friends, that's all they talk about." Cooper revealed that he actually has his own Jersey connection: "I grew up going to the Jersey Shore every summer."

Meanwhile, Jessica Biel, who not only is presenting the Best Kiss award with Cooper but also co-stars with him in the new "A-Team" film, admitted she knew about the show, but wasn't much more familiar with it than Cooper.

"I've never seen it," Biel confessed. "I know who these people are — I mean, I don't live in a hole. Well, somewhat but not really. But I've never seen the show."

The MTV Movies team helped Biel out, explaining that Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino's perfectly carved physique earned him his now-infamous nickname. Biel laughed, "Oh, God, that's a person? 'The Situation' equals ample abs? I wasn't aware. Thank you!

"I know somebody would have said that," she said about walking the Movie Awards red carpet on Sunday and fielding "Jersey Shore" questions. "And I would have said, 'I don't know what's going on! What's happening?' "

Angelina Jolie, Rain Battle For Biggest Badass Star At MTV Movie Awards

Sam Worthington, Chris Pine and Channing Tatum will also throw down in the category at Sunday's show.
By Josh Wigler

There are some new categories this year at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards, including Biggest Badass Star — and no, it's not unnatural that you're intimidated by this addition to the competitive lineup. After all, when talking about an assortment of characters ranging from a betrayed super-spy to a big blue alien, it's more than understandable to find yourself in awe.

There's Chris Pine for starters — he portrayed "Star Trek" leading man James T. Kirk, a Star Fleet graduate who is light-years ahead of his class in terms of intellect, bravery and skill, even if his cocksure attitude frequently lowers his reputation in the eyes of his contemporaries. The real question is, how will voters react to the character's signature arrogance?

Even if Pine can command a starship crew, is he capable of staving off the vicious warrior played by Rain in "Ninja Assassin," the action flick produced by the Wachowski siblings? As the silent killer Raizo, the South Korean pop sensation pursued his fictional mentor with a bloodlust rarely seen in modern mainstream cinema. But are moviegoers on board with Raizo's quest for vengeance?

He's not the only one out to settle a score, as Angelina Jolie is also a candidate for Biggest Badass Star. No stranger to playing badasses, in the upcoming "Salt" she's an agent betrayed by her own government and forced to clear her name.

If Jolie's Salt is a questionable quantity in her country's eyes, there's no denying who the real American hero is of these nominees: none other than Channing Tatum, who played the courageous Duke in "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra." While Duke's loyalties are unquestionable, his Boy Scout level of commitment to upholding rules could ultimately cost him in the race towards Biggest Badass.

In the end, if there's one thing these four contenders can agree upon, it's this: Sam Worthington has a major advantage thanks to two separate badass roles this year in "Avatar" and "Clash of the Titans." But in the Australian actor's defense, both human-turned-alien-warrior Jake Sully and the partially godlike Perseus truly were two of the most undisputed badasses of the year — can anyone really hold those performances against Worthington?

Eminem's 'Not Afraid' Video Premieres

Slim Shady soars through Newark like a superhero in heavily symbolic new clip.
By Shaheem Reid

Eminem's video for "Not Afraid," the first offering from his June 22 release Recovery, has premiered.

Directed by Richard Lee, the video starts with Eminem standing on a rooftop ledge that overlooks New Jersey. As he says his opening lines, the clip shifts to a basement, where Slim Shady is rhyming on the steps, then standing.

The video goes back to the rooftop, where Em goes closer to the edge. The shot could be taken as a metaphor for his life. Last year, the Grammy Award winner very openly told his story of being in a drug-induced haze for years. He said his addiction was so horrific, he almost overdosed and died.

Just like in real life, Em stops short of going off the ledge in the video. Instead, he marches on busy Market Street in downtown Newark. As he's walking through traffic, he looks in a car window and his face looks distorted.

He suddenly seems to be to walking in a hall of mirrors, where he's forced to take a very close look at himself. Marshall Mathers eventually jumps through one of the mirrors and lands back on Market Street. This time, however, instead of being filled with pedestrians, the usually crowded shopping district is empty. (This scene is intercut with one of him back in the basement, breaking through the bricks with his bare fists to reveal a blinding light outside.)

Em then walks alone to the end of the block and stops. There is no more street to walk. Civilization has been totally decimated, and everything beyond the block is in ruins. He jumps off the cliff and falls peacefully, but he never hits the bottom. He starts flying out of the abyss and back into the city, which is now filled with people once again. Shady flies so fast down the streets, he breaks car windows when he speeds by. Ultimately, he lands on the same ledge on which he started the video.

Zach Galifianakis Tries To Out-Goofball Ben Stiller At The MTV Movie Awards

Bradley Cooper, Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock make for an eclectic, tough Best Comedic Performance field on Sunday.
By Todd Gilchrist

To call Best Comedic Performance the goofiest of all MTV Movie Awards categories is not an insult. Quite frankly, when it comes to being a movie cut-up, goofier is better, and this year's nominees include an eclectic group of performers who know how to make audiences giggle.

Before the awards ceremony begins Sunday night at 9 p.m. ET, head over to MovieAwards.MTV.com to check out clips of the nominees for Best Comedic Performance — and you can still vote for your favorite through Saturday (June 5).

Ben Stiller in "Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian"

Ben Stiller is nothing if not put-upon in many of his roles, from "There's Something About Mary" to "Meet the Parents." But in "Battle of the Smithsonian," Stiller elevates his underdog persona to heroic new proportions, playing Larry Daley for a second time as he scuffles with literal armies of historical figures who turn the iconic Washington, D.C., museum into a funhouse.

Bradley Cooper in "The Hangover"

Truth be told, Bradley Cooper's appeal has as much to do with his good looks as his ability to make audiences laugh. But in "The Hangover," he provides eye candy and comic timing in equal measures, playing a teacher who uses his students' field trip money for his buddy's bachelor party in Vegas. Facing off against tigers, tasers and the untamed facial hair of Zach Galifianakis, Cooper reminds comedy fans that you don't have to look funny in order to be funny.

Ryan Reynolds in "The Proposal"

Ryan Reynolds, like Bradley Cooper, is certainly easy on the eyes, but his pedigree as a purveyor of yuks is decidedly more assured. In "The Proposal," Reynolds plays the long-suffering assistant of a demanding book editor (played by fellow nominee Sandra Bullock) whose latest demand is that he marry her. Reynolds is predictably upset about his unexpected nuptials, but it's a testament to the actor's talent that he makes his character's transformation from exasperated assistant to potential partner both believable and hilarious.

Sandra Bullock in "The Proposal"

Bullock has been a successful comedienne since the beginning of her career, but her success in the last few years shows that some performers only get better with age. In "The Proposal," she plays Ryan Reynolds' book-editor boss, a woman devoted to her career at the expense of everything else in her life — including renewing her work visa. Enlisting her frustrated assistant to marry her for citizenship, she turns the terrible-boss act into comedic gold.

Zach Galifianakis in "The Hangover"

Also nominated for Best Breakout Star, Zach Galifianakis crashed into mainstream comedy in a huge way last year. In "The Hangover," he plays Alan Garner, a "gifted" groomsman who inadvertently drugs his buddies during their bachelor party and sets into motion plenty of morning-after hilarity while they hunt for the missing groom. Galifianakis is not only the comedic catalyst for the film's story, but also the source of many of its most memorable moments and almost single-handedly helped Mike Tyson revive his career. Oh yeah, he also puts a pair of Blue Blockers on a baby and faces down a tiger.

For three straight years, MTV Movie Awards Executive Producer Mark Burnett has run a super-tight live show that has managed to create a slew of enduring pop culture memories. Remember Brüno's butt and Eminem's head? Will Ferrell and Sacha Baron Cohen sharing a sloppy on-stage smooch?

So what does Burnett have in store for his fourth go-round at the Movie Awards? Like he'd tell us! But he did sit down with MTV News to toss us many a tease about what fans can expect tomorrow night. One of the most anticipated moments of the evening will undoubtedly be when the spotlight shines on Sandra Bullock as this year's MTV Generation Award honoree.

"Sandra Bullock is so deserving," Burnett said. "It's going to be a beautiful moment. The package of her work that you'll see on the screen just brings a tear to your eye. She's also very funny. There's some funny stuff around the Generation Award."

Bullock and the rest of the celebs at the Gibson Amphitheatre will be doing their wacky best in front of a massive stage set up -- hundreds of feet of TV screens and the ability to sate your pop culture thirst in 3-D. It should be quite a spectacle -- one that starts building during the pre-show.

"I feel really lucky we have the premiere of 'Jersey Shore' as the lead-in to the Movie Awards," said Burnett. "[The cast is] going to love it. The big stars, the big set.... I think they're going to be having a great, joyful experience of like, 'Whoa, this really is Hollywood.' "

And in Hollywood on Sunday night, fans will get to check out not only their favorite celebs but performances by two of this summer's most high-profile singers. Katy Perry will bust out "California Gurls" -- with Snoop Dogg in tow -- and Christina Aguilera will deliver of medley of tunes.

"The songs have high energy and it just raises up the auditorium of 7,000 people," Burnett said. "It's really like a rock concert."

Katy Perry Explains Why She Was Cut From 'Get Him To The Greek'

'I'm sleeping with you, and you're not gonna put me in the movie?' she jokes of fiancé Russell Brand.

Last summer, Katy Perry filmed a cameo for "Get Him to the Greek" and even locked lips with future fiancé Russell Brand. But just because she's about to get married to the British movie star doesn't mean she had enough clout to make it into his film.

"It got cut!" she told MTV News, when talking about her big MTV Movie Awards performance this Sunday. "I was like, 'I'm sleeping with you, and you're not gonna put me in the movie? That's so messed up!' "

All joking aside, Perry is enough of a show-business professional to understand why she got cut. It might have been too weird for audiences to watch the couple make out, knowing that in real life they, well, make out.

"It seemed too much of a literal movie then, which I totally understand from a director's perspective or from a moviegoer's [perspective]," she said. "If you saw me and Russell making out, although it'd be cute to, 'cause that was the first moment we met, [it would feel like,] 'There's Russell Brand in the movie,' not Aldous Snow, and they want it to be Aldous Snow, [so it's] completely understandable."

Earlier this year, Perry spoke about filming the now-scrapped scene with Glamour magazine. "When he was filming 'Get Him to the Greek,' I did a cameo with him. My scene called for me to make out with him," she said. "And on the way down the stairs after the scene, I was hopping like a bunny. I hop like a bunny when I'm happy — I get a bit childlike. [Laughs.] He gives me the Christmas Eve jitters."

'Percy Jackson' Star Logan Lerman Felt 'Really Stupid' During Best Fight-Nominated Scene

Posted: 05 Jun 2010 02:43 AM PDT

'You've got to put your mind outside of the room and embarrass yourself a little bit,' Lerman says.
By Eric Ditzian

Best Fight might be the most deceptive of all the MTV Movie Awards' categories. What fans see up on the screen -- those weapon-wielding brawls, knees to the groin and bloody-gash-opening body blows -- certainly looks badass, what goes into creating them on set is quite often the opposite.

And that, perhaps, is what make a cinematic fight truly great: you cringe at every punch, feel your stomach turn as the blood flows, you simply believe it, despite knowing it's all make believe. It's in this context that we approach this year's Best Fight nominees, in particular Logan Lerman and Jake Abel's throwdown in "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief."

"It was awkward," Lerman laughed during an interview with MTV News. "I felt really stupid doing it. You've got to put your mind outside of the room and embarrass yourself a little bit and feel comfortable to be in the moment."

Lerman plays a dyslexic high school kid who discovers he's actually the son of Poseidon and is pulled into a world-saving mission in which he battles snake-haired villains, nefarious demigods and a few terrifying beasts. The climatic scene -- the one for which he's nominated -- sees him facing off against Abel on the rooftops, and in the skies, of New York City. They fly, they clash, they crash, they fly some more, until Lerman uses his powers to manipulate water and lay down some serious hurt.

"That was about a month of filming just to do that one sequence," Lerman explained. "We learned so much. We had to learn how to fly, be in wires and make it look good. Go down rooftops while having to swing at invisible lightning bolts being shot at you. It was a pretty crazy experience and I was completely blown away when I saw it onscreen. I'm so glad it got nominated -- and pray that it wins!"

His competition is stiff, and he's most worried about Beyoncé's brawl with Ali Larter in "Obsessed."

"That was pretty crazy," he said. "That's the big fight that I'm kind of nervous of [winning] it."

Lerman also counts himself a huge "Avatar" fan and calls "Sherlock Holmes" director Guy Ritchie "the man." But in the end, Lerman thinks he's got a pretty good shot at taking home the golden popcorn on Sunday night.

"Flying through New York City -- that's pretty nuts," he said. "You throw 'em all in the ring, I think Percy Jackson is going to win."
