50 Cent has a mission: to make sure hard-core rap music thrives. Fif is about to hit us with his War Angel LP. The G-Unit dropped the first record, "Redrum (Murder)" — real soulful, real hard. According to Fif, this is going to be the mixtape ... er, street album of his career. The project is available for free download via 50's Web site. As always, keep checking for us at Mixtape.MTV.com.

Don't Sleep: Necessary Notables

Street Album: War Angel LP

Headliner: 50 Cent

Essential Info: Polow Da Don and Timbaland were so excited about the project, they almost gave Fif tracks. But production from those two will more than likely pop up on Before I Self Destruct, due in September. The G-Unit General is warming the scene up before summer officially hits, dropping his new mixtape before the official product.

If you're curious about the title, know that it's not about a beef with one person in particular — this war angel is fed up with the watered-down music in hip-hop right now. It's not what he adored growing up as a fan.

"What I fell in love with initially ain't even in the mutha----in' art form anymore. It's cool because there's an opportunity for me to become [that] to a whole new generation ... because of their age group, they're not aware of it.

"Now I gotta shift the energy," 50 added. "I gotta make them follow me. After they follow me, they'll be able to make real hip-hop records and make them successful. I have to have a successful project with really good hip-hop music to make these people go, 'OK, we can make [a real hip-hop album].' I have to be successful to make the record companies go, 'We can support this guy that wrote a rap album' instead of feeling like 'We need him to go on this record with Ne-Yo or Dream. Get somebody on there to do the hook.' That's the concept of what they feel they can present to the public and that's not what the f--- I was going on when I started."

50 is debuting the entire mixtape Tuesday (June 16) on Hot 97 with Funkmaster Flex then posting it on his Web site that night for free download. The Queens MC is also hiring new video directors — a different one for each clip — to come up with visuals for the mixtape.

"When I start writing music to my core, I'm talking about the way I came up, the way I was raised," he explained. "That's easy to me. Tell me to make a commercial pop record, a commercial hit record and that's more difficult to me than to create concepts that people are excited about where I'm from."

After War Angel, 50 says to look for Sincerely Southside, on which he'll be rapping over some '90s R&B hits, as well as a full G-Unit mixtape prior to the release of Before I Self Destruct.

"I write at a rapid pace," he said. "I have binges. There's points I'll be in the studio ... I've met moments when I'm there and unmotivated by production. Just there and unexcited about the whole sh--. Then there's times when every beat that comes on, I have an idea."

Mixtape: Back on My Buck Sh--

Headliner: Young Buck

Co-Starring: DJs Scream and Smallz

Key Collaborations: "Ups and Downs" (featuring Lil Wayne), "What They Talking About" (featuring Plies), "Bag it Up" (featuring All Star and Yo Gotti)

Essential Info: We hit you with a nice tease last week but, as promised, here is the full piece on Young Buck's Back on My Buck Sh--.

"Lyrically, I think I've grown. This mixtape right here, as you listen to it you're gonna always get the energy from Young Buck, but the content I'm speaking on is reality-based. Records about the reality of my life is pretty much my strong point in music — as well as the party music and the trap music, you're gonna always get that from me. That's what formed Young Buck. But I like to venture in different lanes and reinvent myself as an artist every time around."

Buck says a record that hits home for him is "A Lot to Learn."

"I think I learned something right now — 90 percent business and 10 percent talent," Buck said. "If you ain't got the streets, you ain't got nothing.

"My survival comes with how hard I hustle, so my hustle never stops," he added. "I've been making sure my business is totally correct so I could get everything I deserve. Everything I go out and learn. No disrespect to none of the labels out there, but I feel if they're able to take from someone, they're gonna do it. Right now I'm focused on the business. That's why I'm able to create Cashville Records and have legendary artists like C-Bo and the Outlawz."

Jonas Brothers Want To Mix Their 'Paranoid' With Kanye West's

Have the brothers been converting hip-hop fans by sharing a song title with Kanye?

Although one wouldn't immediately think that the Jonas Brothers and Kanye West have a whole lot in common artistically, they certainly seem to be on the same wavelength when it comes to song titles. 'Ye recently released his Rihanna-starring music video for "Paranoid," which happens to be the name of the JoBros' first single off their new album, Lines, Vines and Trying Times.

"We want to do a mash-up of [both 'Paranoid' songs]," Nick Jonas told MTV News. "So, if [Kanye]'s watching, I think it'd be awesome!"

While the Jonas Brothers' video features all three guys wrestling and driving fast cars, instead of Rihanna, the brothers think they might gain some new fans out of the confusion between West's track and theirs.

"Some guy heard [Kanye] did the song and wanted to download it and heard [our version] and never heard of the Jonas Brothers before," Kevin said. "And now he's bringing his family to the show. ... I made that completely up. That didn't happen!"

Kevin decided not to further elaborate whether this "Paranoid" story is the first or last time you'll see him making up anecdotes for the sake of comedy. "Trust me," he said, jokingly adding the statement that made both Joe and Nick very nervous. "We don't ever tell the truth in interviews."

Heidi Montag Says Posing For Playboy 'Would Be A Huge Honor'

'Hills' star does not confirm shoot, but husband Spencer Pratt says magazine 'hypothetically' will be on stands August 15.

While "Hills" star Heidi Montag has declined to directly confirm reports that she has posed for Playboy, she told MTV News that such a decision wouldn't conflict with her Christian beliefs — in fact, she said she thinks posing for the magazine would be a "huge honor."

"If I were to do Playboy, it would be a huge honor," she told MTV News on Monday (June 15), just hours after her and husband Spencer Pratt's dust-up with Al Roker on the "Today" show. "Many iconic women have done it: Charlize Theron, Sharon Stone did it, Marilyn Monroe. So it's a very amazing, well-known magazine. I would love to do it, but I would do it very tastefully. I think you would have to see, if I did do it." (Note: Theron's photographs were purchased by Playboy and published over the actress' objections.)

She went on to explain that despite Tweeting constantly about Christianity, she isn't concerned that posing for the magazine would conflict with her beliefs — and she has a very specific reason why.

"I'm more of a modern Mother Teresa," she said. "I would take things with moderation. I think God created the body. I think we're born naked. We die naked. I don't think it's something to be ashamed of. I think the body is a beautiful piece of artwork that God created. I have nothing to be ashamed of."

Meanwhile, her husband, Spencer Pratt, dropped the hint that on "August 15 — hypothetically, if this did happen — you can buy the issue and you can look and see how much Heidi maybe would bare." On Monday, a rep for Playboy declined comment when asked by MTV News whether Montag had posed for the magazine.

Ex-Danity Kane singer Aubrey O'Day, who posed for Playboy herself recently, told MTV News that she supported Heidi's decision.

And while Spencer said he's aware that the couple will probably be criticized for it, he's used to criticism. "I live in the backlash," he said. "Maybe a little bit more — so scared!"

Which, of course, raises the question: Would Spencer pose nude if approached? "Playgirl [magazine] shut down," he said. "I was already reaching out to them. There is no more Playgirl. I might just start the Spencer magazine where I get naked every month!"

MTV News will have lots more from our interview with Heidi and Spencer in the coming days!

Robert Pattinson, Lady Gaga, Adam Lambert Make Our Celeb High-School Superlatives

What if Taylor Swift, Kanye West and Speidi all graduated together? We imagine just that for Class of '09 Week.

High school graduation time means one thing: doling out senior superlatives to the most memorable members of each graduating class. In honor of Class of '09 Week, MTV News imagined what it would be like if our favorite celebrities were all graduating this year.

How cool would it be if Taylor Swift, Kanye West and Speidi all went to high school together? All of those stars managed to make our list for 2009's celeb superlatives.

Everyone's BFF: Kris Allen
Despite beating Adam Lambert on "American Idol," Kris Allen managed to win his rival's heart. He also became America's crush when he was named this year's winner.

Class Cutie: Taylor Swift
Even when she's penning breakup songs about boys we'll never know (and some we do), she manages to win us over with her keen, honest songwriting.

Class Clown: Soulja Boy Tell'em
It's kind of hard not to give the man who made the "We Got the Munchies!!!" video the title of class clown. Just the image of Soulja Boy holding up various vending-machine snacks and laughing hysterically at the thought of devouring them makes us laugh too.

Biggest Klutz: Kristen Stewart
She is admittedly quite awkward when it comes to being in the public eye, but her defining klutz moment came when she fumbled her Golden Popcorn at the MTV Movie Awards.

Most Unique: Lady Gaga
She doesn't wear pants, and she frequently wears a bow made out of hair. This, in combination with her flamboyant stage show and persona, has reminded everyone that uniqueness and creativity can get you a top spot on the charts.

Picture Perfect: Robert Pattinson
Over the course of this past school year, RPattz and his devil-may-care hairstyle have become the go-to screensaver for lovelorn ladies. Of course he's our most picture perfect, even if he's too shy to admit it.

Most Changed: Britney Spears
Britney Spears has easily done the biggest career 180 in recent pop-music history. She has quickly gone from an umbrella-wielding, beleaguered celeb back to being a chart-topping superstar. For that, she has calmed our nerves and rekindled our love for her.

Broadway-Bound: Adam Lambert
Let's face it: This guy has a flair for the theatrical, which he displayed week after week on "Idol." Aside from his upcoming debut album, we smell a future on the Great White Way for Mr. Lambert.

Best Eyes: Chris Pine
Those sparkling blue eyes melted our hearts every time he looked into the camera in "Star Trek," managing to convert anyone who doesn't quite get the appeal of sci-fi flicks into full on Trekkers.

Best to Bring Home to Mom and Dad: The Jonas Brothers
Although they can't promise they won't break your heart, the Jonas Brothers are most certainly three nice boys from New Jersey who only ask that if you date them, you're nice to their mom. We're sure your mom would appreciate that!

Chatterbox: Kanye West
Although Kanye West will never go on Twitter, we can always count on the all-caps rants on his blog. He'll write about anything, ranging from his favorite pair of shoes to how happy he is you love his latest song. It's not really about what he has to say, it's just the fact that he has something to say.

Dynamic Duo: Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, a.k.a. Speidi
Any couple who give themselves a nickname reserved for power couples like Brangelina are at the very least dynamic. Speidi have managed to bring drama to "The Hills," "I'm a Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here!" and the world of hip-hop.

Cutest Couple: Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens
Somehow, Zac and Vanessa managed to be adorable together in the "High School Musical" movies and in real life, attending events like the Oscars and movie premieres. They're proving that even in real life, the star basketball player falls for the drama geek.

Welcome to Class of '09 Week on MTVNews.com, where we're celebrating a memorable time in the lives of more than 3 million high school seniors: graduation! We'll be rolling out articles and videos with graduation memories from your favorite celebrities and much more. Be sure to upload your own three-minute video for our Class of '09 Valedictory Search to Your.MTV.com — the winner will be flown to New York for lunch with MTV News' Sway and will attend a taping of MTV's new series "It's On With Alexa Chung."

Drake Will 'Never Forget' His 'Tonight Show' Debut

NEW YORK — Breakout rap star Drake appeared on "The Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien" on Friday, performing alongside Jamie Foxx. The "Best I Ever Had" MC premiered his guest verse on Foxx's track "Digital Girl."

In recent weeks, Drake — who is still unsigned — seems to be everywhere, performing at Hot 97's Summer Jam concert, flying to London to collaborate with Rihanna and now making his late-night-television debut next to an Oscar-winning actor.

But the Lil Wayne protégé took everything in stride. Or, rather, with a bit of anxiety. Drake had just penned the verses to the remix less than 24 hours before Drake had just recorded the remix less than 24 hours before he went before millions of TV viewers with it.

"The biggest challenge of that whole day, aside from being on 'Conan' and being nervous initially about that, was [trying to] remember the 24-bar verse I just recorded the night before," Drake told MTV News. "It was an all-around challenging day, but when I'm under pressure, I always seem to rise to the occasion in some form."

The rapper, who exploded with the release of his mixtape So Far Gone in February, said the appearance marked one of the best days of his life.

"My uncle saw it, my mother saw it, everyone in my family and in my circle was so excited," he said. "It was something I'll never forget. I don't think an unsigned artist has ever had the chance to perform in that arena."

Next up for Drake is finishing a video for his hit "Best I Ever Had." The rapper was in New York over the weekend filming the video with Kanye West. West inspired the clip, according to Drake, and eventually took the reins as director of the shoot. Also, Drizzy will join Lil Wayne and Young Jeezy on their America's Most Wanted Music Festival, which kicks off July 27 in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

Usher's Wife's Lawyer: She Was A 'Faithful Wife And Loving Mother'

'We were hoping this case would be resolved privately,' lawyer says of Usher divorcing his wife, Tameka Foster-Raymond.

Randall Kessler, who is representing Usher's wife, Tameka Foster-Raymond, in their impending divorce, has spoken about the couple's split. On Friday, Usher filed for divorce from Foster-Raymond after less than two years of marriage. The couple have two sons together: Usher Raymond V, 18 months, and Naviyd Ely Raymond, 6 months.

Kessler told The Associated Press that Foster-Raymond, 38, was a "faithful wife and loving mother," and declined to comment about Usher's conduct during the marriage.

He also told People.com that he and his client will respond to the divorce filing in a "timely manner," adding, "We were hoping this case would be resolved privately, but since Usher filed it publicly we will have to respond."

Kessler added to E!, "She's trying her best to take the high road and not attack him."

People also spoke with several sources close to the couple about the split. "No one I've spoken to is surprised," one source said. "As bad as this is gonna sound, it was never a matter of 'I wonder if they'll divorce,' but more like 'I wonder when they'll divorce.' "

Another source said, "They peaked before they even got married. Right after it was over, they started to drift apart. [Usher] just wasn't ready to settle down, at least not with her.

"They've been going their own way for a while," the source added. "They don't spend a lot of time with each other. When they were together, it was all about the boys."

The marriage reportedly has been strained for months now. Sources have said the pair haven't lived under the same roof for quite some time, as Usher has relocated to Nevada to work on his next solo album. Pictures and video of Usher, alongside Jermaine Dupri and others, partying in Las Vegas have appeared online in recent weeks.

The couple's relationship has been fraught with controversy ever since Usher broke the news — somewhat off-handedly — to MTV News in March of 2007 that he and Foster were engaged. The couple married later that year in Atlanta in a simple ceremony, after canceling the original, more lavish wedding. Rumors were rampant about the reason for the cancellation of the original wedding plans, including that Usher's mother disapproved of the relationship, claims the couple later denied.

Throughout their marriage, the couple was dogged by insinuations that the singer was being controlled by Foster, and further reports of discord with his mother, whom he released from her duties as his manager in 2007 before rehiring her the following year. Questions about the singer's fidelity also arose. Usher took umbrage with much of the discussion and fired back at the gossip in interviews.

In a "TRL" appearance in May of 2008, Usher unleashed a verbal broadside about the rumors. "I love my wife very, very much," he said. "There was a little rumor earlier this week about us separating. It ain't true. We in love. Get outta there," he said, raising his left hand and showing off his wedding band. "Matter of fact, I'm tired of people continuing to talk so much trash about me, know what I'm saying? And my relationship."

Early this year, Foster suffered cardiac arrest before undergoing plastic surgery in Brazil. Upon learning of her condition, Usher canceled his performance at Clive Davis' annual pre-Grammy gala and flew to the foreign country be to with her. Davis told the crowd at the party that Usher had to leave town due to a "serious injury in the family." People's sources called the event a "brief reunion in an otherwise troubled marriage."

Tony Yayo Takes Issue With How Max B's Lawyer Handled Case

'Everyone has an opinion about it,' attorney Gerald M. Saluti says of criticism following Max's manslaughter conviction.

G-Unit member Tony Yayo is disappointed to see friend and recording partner Max B go to jail. Max, born Charles Wingate, was found guilty of manslaughter, as well as eight other charges, last week in New Jersey. His sentencing is July 31.

Yayo said the trial went south before it even started, blaming his friend's downfall on a January video blog, in which Max and his lawyer, Gerald M. Saluti, spoke about the case for more than six minutes. The two also were part of subsequent Internet interviews.

"It's an unfortunate thing that happened to Max B," Yayo told us. "He just had a kid. I f--- with Max. I f--- with French [Montana]. I think he had bad representation with his lawyer. What lawyer do you know that's gonna do a blog with you? That's when I think everything got messed up. That blog f---ed it up. You know I'm always in trouble. When I have a case, I don't do no press, nothing. If you don't got a lawyer there telling you, 'Shut the f--- up,' you're f---ed up. The lawyer was wack. Your lawyer wants to sit there and do a blog with you? [Max's] lawyer may not have been the one to handle a homicide."

Saluti met Max a couple of years ago as part of the legal team Jim Jones provided for Max, who is an estranged member of Jones' Byrd Gang. Saluti eventually took the reins and said he would rep B for free.

The lawyer fumed when he was told of Yayo's comments.

"My first comment is, who the hell is Tony Yayo and what law school did he go to?" Saluti said. "Everything I do, I do for a reason. And where were all these people in support of Max — like Tony Yayo and all these other people that have something to say — when he was out there by himself facing all of these charges? Nowhere to be seen. Now everyone has an opinion about it. Everyone wants to help Max. I saw people were bustin' my chops about blogging while we were waiting for a verdict in this case ... on my Twitter. Do people actually think I touch my own Twitter and it's not my assistant? You think I have time to Twitter?

"What year did Yayo graduate from law school is my question," Saluti added. "How many cases has he tried to verdict? It's ridiculous. People are so ready to kick a guy when he's down. Not that I'm saying Max and I are down, because we damn sure aren't done fighting this."

In the wake of Max's conviction, Saluti appeared in an online video and read a letter from his client thanking fans for their support. Max also said in his letter he wouldn't trade Saluti for the world, even if the late, great Johnnie Cochran "rose from the dead." The attorney said he's in the middle of filing a motion to get the case thrown out altogether.

"My daughter came to me at the end of the case, and she said, 'Daddy, you lost? But you worked so hard on that case. You don't lose. How could you lose?' " Saluti recalled. "And I told her, 'That's just the way God wants it right now.' That was my answer, and that's still my answer. Max is supposed to be the godfather to my 1-year-old, who we were gonna baptize after the trial. And I said to him after the trial, 'Water is not touching that kid's head until you are out the hole.' And I don't expect that to be 30 years from now. He was strong, you have to admit. I think I was more upset than he was. I really do.

"I went and saw Max in jail the next day, after the verdict, and he wrote a letter to his fans specifically, and when I read it, I choked back tears," the lawyer added. "I love that boy. I held his son in my arms. I have pictures of his son and my son together."

Authorities claim Max was part of a conspiracy to rob two men of around $30,000 two years ago.
