This week has been a real treat for "Hunger Games" fans. The highly anticipated film continues to be a serious competitor in our Movies Brawl 2012, we've featured three of the castmembers as part of our select group of Ones to Watch this year, and now we're rolling out the first part of three lengthy interviews with Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth.

All questions were submitted via Twitter by you, the fans. The first batch features talk of hilarious on-set pranks, injuries and some details about the arena. Minor spoilers ahead for those who haven't read the books! Be sure to check back here next week for part two of our interviews.

@jjusan: I've heard a lot about pranking on the set... tell us one of the things that happened!

Josh Hutcherson: They had a full life-sized dummy of one of our tributes that had gotten killed by a Tracker Jacker, and basically it's all swollen and gnarly-looking and mangled, and Jennifer was out of her trailer so I took the dummy and put it inside her bathroom in her trailer. I wasn't there for the big moment when she saw it, which I can't believe I missed, but I've been told that she actually peed her pants in reaction to it. So, I was pretty proud of myself and amazed that someone actually peed their pants in fear, because I didn't know that happened.

Jennifer Lawrence: Pranks. Oh yeah, Josh, he took the dummy from one of the tributes that dies from the Tracker Jackers' sting that is completely deformed and put it on my toilet, shut the door and [had it] holding a toilet paper roll, just for added effect. I'm in my trailer and open the bathroom door and scream and my friend grabs me and had to say "It's fake, it's fake, it's fake!" I hate him. I still haven't gotten him back for that, actually. I don't know what to do to get him back for something like that. I'd have to find a real dead body.

Liam Hemsworth: Jennifer would often try and make you laugh just before "Action." She'd say something funny. She'd get you and really surprise you, though, because you'd be rolling up, ready for them to say "Action," and she'd ask you some silly question about something. You'd hear it and be like, "Wait, what?" And then "Action" and you'd be like "OK. Thanks for that." It's funny to her, I guess.

@PRIMdelenaTVD: What can you tell us about the arena? What was it like?

Hutcherson: The arena is a giant. It's a forest, pretty much. We shot it in the mountains of North Carolina, just outside of Asheville, and it's pretty cool. The terrain we had to get through to get our cameras and equipment there was impressive that we even got it made in time. It looks amazing on film, too.

@OttoRivera: Have you met Suzanne Collins?

Lawrence: I have, she's wonderful. That was, I think, the most nervous I've ever been meeting a person because I kept thinking, "What if she doesn't like me?" But I did meet her, and she's fantastic.

@HGTribute_Manda:What's the most difficult scene to shoot?

Hutcherson:The cave scene for me, where Katniss and Peeta are in the cave after Katniss has rescued Peeta more or less, was tough to shoot, also my favorite scene to shoot because we didn't have a lot of time. We had a lot of scene to get through and a lot of character arc to get through, so for me that was really fun but also a really big challenge.

@eringabin: Did you get any injuries during filming?

Lawrence: Yeah. There was the trees, there was tree climbing, getting scratched up by trees. My back started getting weird, I think from all the running downhill, so I had to go to the chiropractor once a week, which is terrifying . I've never been to a chiropractor before and it just feels like they're going to snap your neck at any moment. There were some ankle and knee [injuries] but you don't have time to be injured. The look on the producer's face if I say "ow" is awful, so I tried to just kind of stay quiet about it.

All month long, the stars of "The Hunger Games" will be answering your Twitter questions, exclusively for MTV News. Check back every Thursday in January for more answers from Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth.

'Jersey Shore' Advice: What <i>Not</i> To Do During A Hookup

'If her name is Sheila, don't call her Tawana,' the Situation suggests.

The fifth season of "Jersey Shore" is heating up with the second episode airing tonight at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.

During the premiere, we were introduced to the Situation's best friend, "The Unit," who managed to stir up some drama between Sitch, Snooki and her boyfriend, Jionni. We also witnessed the first (and certainly not the last) hookup of the season, between Pauly D and Snooki's friend Ryder.

Over the past few seasons, the cast of "Jersey Shore" have become sort of experts on the art of wooing the opposite sex, so when MTV News caught up with them recently, we had to ask them to lend us their valuable expertise on hooking up. Of course, they couldn't share all the tricks of the trade, but they did agree to tell us what not to do when.

"You should never text-message during hooking up," Pauly D said. "Put your phone away."

The Situation added, "You should never call another name. If her name is Sheila, don't call her Tawana."

The ladies of the house have some more sage advice for what you need to stay away from when putting the moves on someone new. "[Don't] throw it all out there," JWoww said. " 'I got kids, I was married, I was this, I'm bankrupt, I killed my mom' — you don't do that stuff."

According to Deena, one might want to keep their bodily functions to a minimum. "[Don't] fart or burp in their face," Deena said.

JWoww added, "[Don't] pick your nose. Don't do anything that's disgusting."

Don't miss "Jersey Shore" every Thursday at 10 p.m. ET on MTV. For continuing "Shore" coverage, be sure to check in with MTV's Remote Control blog.

The performer roster for the upcoming 54th annual Grammy Awards
is beginning to fill out and Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift are among the nominated ladies who will take the stage on the show.

They'll have plenty of help from some of this year's other nominees, as Kelly Clarkson, the Foo Fighters, Bruno Mars and Jason Aldean will also sing on the show. The show, which airs live on CBS on February 12, will mark the first Grammy performance for Aldean and Minaj.

The Foos and Mars will go into the night with six nominations each, while Minaj is vying in four categories, including Best New Artist
, where she'll face off against Bon Iver, Skrillex, J. Cole and the Band Perry. Aldean and Swift are both up for three awards and Clarkson has two nominations.

While many of the most decorated acts typically perform on the show, there is no word yet on whether the night's leading nominee, Kanye West, who has seven nods, will play on the show. It's also unknown if six-time-nominee Adele will be sufficiently recovered from her vocal surgery
to make her comeback appearance on the broadcast.

While Adele has not confirmed or denied her appearance, a recent report claimed that she is in talks to sing on the show now that she's begun talking again with her doctor's permission. Since she doesn't want to rush back and injure her vocal cord again, the singer is reportedly waiting until early next month to decide if she can sing in public again.

More performers, presenters and special segment will be announced in the coming weeks.

Drake And Rihanna's 'Take Care' Is 'Real,' 40 Says

Posted: 12 Jan 2012 03:53 AM PST

Producer is surprised that Take Care's title track isn't already a hit.
By Steven Roberts

Drake's Take Care has spawned three successful singles so far in "Marvin's Room," "Headlines" and "The Motto." The infinitely interesting and introspective "Marvin's Room" has inspired several remixes. "The Motto" has had a similar effect in the Bay Area — hip-hop's oft-ignored, red headed stepchild — while "Headlines" is currently dominating the airwaves.

But the moment Take Care was released (or leaked), the album's title track seemed destined to become a crossover hit. After all, the song features an international superstar in Rihanna. However, when MTV News caught up with the song's producer, Noah "40" Shebib, in Toronto late last year, he said he and Drake were surprised it wasn't already one.

The song is actually a remake of a Jamie xx's remix of the legendary, late Gil Scott-Heron's "I'll Take Care of U." Jamie xx, a member of the Mercury Award-winning English group the xx, remixed Scott-Heron's 2010 album I'm New Here last year, creating We're New Here. 40 said he and the team at OVO felt "I'll Take Care of U" never got its deserved shine, so they asked Jamie for the files so they could "take this song and make it go.

"What a great record! How come this song was never as big as it should've or could've been?" 40 said.

"Drake had asked me to find him a pocket to rap on, so we programmed the drums and got him a place where he could at least flow and have a little bit of a bounce," he added.

After a few tweaks, the two had a new record, but they wanted to add something extra. 40 thought Rihanna, with her background and her history with Drake, was an obvious choice to make the song what it is.

"Who else do you put on it?" he said. "There's not a lot of young females out there right now, and on top of that, the story is just brilliant between the two of them, and it's believable and it works and it's real."

What do you think of Drake's "Take Care"? Sound off in the comments!

All week, we'll bring you highlights from our candid interview with Drake producer Noah "40" Shebib. Be sure to keep it locked here as 40 talks Take Care and his thoughts on everything from working with Lil Wayne to Drizzy's next single with Rihanna.

Tim Burton's Busy 2012: 'Dark Shadows' And 'Frankenweenie' Arrive!

Producing 'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter' also lands Burton on MTV Movies' Ones to Watch in 2012.
By Josh Horowitz

We're just days into 2012, and Tim Burton's calendar is already jam-packed. The director, alas, may not have time this year to go club-hopping in Paris with Mark Wahlberg.

No matter! Burton has an epic cinematic year in the works, from his Johnny Depp-starring adaptation of "Dark Shadows" and his long-gestating animated project "Frankenweenie" to his work as a producer on the supernatural/action/historical/drama mash-up "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter." That's why we've named Burton One to Watch in 2012. The director recently hopped on the phone with MTV News to discuss everything he has coming up over the next year and explain why thinking about it all leaves him in a state of panic.

MTV: Hi, Tim, we wanted to check in with you because it looks like it's going to be a busy 2012.

Tim Burton: Don't remind me. [Laughs.]

MTV: I'm sorry.

Burton: That's OK. I have to face it sooner or later. I didn't really plan it. I probably should have. I wish you could control film schedules a bit better. But it's OK. It's all things that I love, so that's good.

MTV: How are you dividing your time between the various projects?

Burton: With "Frankenweenie," it's a little bit easier to do it, because you only have a couple shots coming through each day. It's like a slow-motion process. When you're dealing with something like "Dark Shadows," that's immediate and intense. And then with "Lincoln," [director] Timur [Bekmambetov] is great. I'm there just to support it. It's a project I really liked and just wanted to see.

MTV: I got a chance to visit the set, and I was impressed. If I didn't know any better, I'd say I was on the set of a historical biopic.

Burton: You were! It is! That's what's great about it. It just seemed like a natural thing for Timur. It being an American history story, it seemed right for it to be directed by a Russian. [Laughs.]

MTV: What stage are you in for "Dark Shadows" right now?

Burton: Panicking. That stage. We're editing and doing effects. It's not an effects-heavy picture, but it's still got stuff in there. There's a strange tone to the movie. That's always what's fun about movies. You never know exactly what they are. It makes it both exciting and scary and why you like doing it. I have to keep remembering that.

MTV : With over 1,200 episodes of the original series to draw upon, what was important to you to retain?

Burton: It's got such a strange vibe. And it's not something that a lot of people necessarily know. You're trying to do a weird soap opera. I felt really lucky, because the cast is really good. People like Michelle [Pfeiffer] grew up watching it. Some of the cast knew about it. Some didn't, but they were all game for it — getting into the weird spirit of what "Dark Shadows" was. It has a weird sense of heightened melodrama. There was a generation of us who would run home from school to watch it. That's probably why we were such bad students. We should have been doing homework; we were watching "Dark Shadows" instead. It was hard to put into words the tone it was. It had a weird seriousness, but it was funny in a way that wasn't really funny. We just had to feel our way through it to find the tone. We didn't do any real rehearsals, because the cast all came in at different times. But there was an old photo of the [original] cast which I always remembered, so a couple days before shooting, we got the whole cast together to take a similar shot so everyone could see each other and get that vibe from doing a group photo. That helped set the tone more than anything.

MTV: Some of it takes place in the 1700s, but most of it takes place in 1972, is that right?

Burton: Yeah it goes back, but it's mainly in 1972, which to the era of "Dark Shadows" is the modern era. To me, it was a scary time.

MTV: Does the film leave that house much?

Burton: A little bit, but the thing about "Dark Shadows" was it was a very hermetically sealed world. It's mainly the internal family melodrama. You get a little bit of the sense of the world, but it's like "Grey Gardens," where these people are in their own sort of world.

MTV: Do you utilize time travel in the movie?

Burton: Not too much. A tiny bit. For me, that's when the show kind of made me want to do homework. I was like, wait a minute! That came near the end of the trail of the series.

MTV: You decided not to do 3-D this time around?

Burton: No. It's the '70s, man. Only "Frankenstein's Bloody Terror" was in 3-D. That's the only one I remember from that time.

MTV: Is it true that you're considering doing another "Beetlejuice" film?

Burton: Yes. I love that character, and Michael [Keaton] is so great in it. I always think about how great and fun that character was, so I just said to ["Vampire Hunter" writer] Seth [Grahame-Smith], "If you have some idea about it, go for it, and then I'll look at it freshly." In the past, I tried some things, but that was way back when. He seemed really excited about it.

MTV: Has he run any of his ideas by you yet?

Burton: No. I told him to try some stuff, but he hasn't come back to me yet. Michael was so great in it. I'm sure he'd strangely tap right back into it.

MTV: It must be extremely exciting for you to return to "Frankenweenie," considering the original short led to your demise at Disney.

Burton: Maybe it'll cause my second or third demise. [Laughs.] I'm very excited about it. The opportunity to do it in black-and-white and 3-D really fits the story. For me, it's the heart of the story that we've gotten to go back to and expand. It's more of a "House of Frankenstein" kind of situation now, but also it stays with the same thing. It taps into the politics of other children that you remember from school. It's still intimate, though. It's still the basic story with a few more elements.

MTV: It actually shocks me there hasn't been a Broadway musical version of "Nightmare Before Christmas."

Burton: A couple of schools have done it. I think it could lend itself to something like [Broadway]. I'm just happy it's taken on a life of its own. We've resisted any kind of sequelization thing. Some things are just best left on their own.

MTV: Did anyone try to dissuade you from doing "Frankenweenie" in black-and-white?

Burton: I'm very grateful, because I think they understood that that was part of the emotion of it. I was very happy about that, because it's a big part of it. It's a big deal for a studio to go along with something like that. And the 3-D really suits it. With a lot of 3-D, you lose some of the detail, but with stop-motion, you actually feel more of the detail. So all the work that people put into the puppets and the spaces on the set — you actually feel it.

MTV: Is IMAX interesting to you?

Burton: Yeah, definitely! We're doing a test for "Frankenweenie." "Frankenweenie" is such a tactile funky project. It would be interesting to see it in that, so we're playing around with it.

MTV: Is "The Addams Family" the next thing on the stop-motion docket?

Burton: Oh, I don't know. I got so many things to keep up with now ...

MTV: You do seem to have a long list of things with your name attached.

Burton: That's why I don't go on the Internet, Josh. It freaks me out. I've got my immediate things to worry about. It's like when they thought the Earth was flat and you hit the horizon and fell into a black hole.

MTV: So this laundry list of things that are stressing you out ...

Burton: Just check them all off till later. Next year, we'll take a look at them like Santa's list. I'll tell you yes or cross them off the list.

What are you waiting for? Your must-see movie needs your support. It's time to show character, poise and heart. Vote for your picks now at MTV Movie Brawl 2012!

'Bridesmaids' Cast 'Optimistic' About Sequel

At People's Choice Awards, director Paul Feig tells MTV News, 'As long as we get the gang together, it would be a lot of fun.'

The Hollywood rumor mill was set a churnin' last week when news broke that Universal was reportedly considering moving forward with a "Bridesmaids" sequel without star and co-writer Kristen Wiig.

Given the film's tremendous success — $100 million box-office gross and worldwide acclaim from critics and audiences alike — it's not surprising that Universal would want to line up a "Bridesmaids" follow-up as soon as possible, no matter who is involved. However, the official word from the studio was that they would ideally like to have the entire cast back for a second movie, but if a good idea for a sequel arises that involves new characters, they might move forward without Wiig.

When MTV News caught up with director Paul Feig and co-star Wendi McLendon-Covey at the People's Choice Awards on Wednesday, where their film took home the award for Best Comedy Movie, we asked them about getting the gang back together for a sequel.

"We're all optimistic; we would love to do it," Feig said. "We loved working together. It was so much fun. Everybody is busy now, but if we can come together and make it as good or better than the first one, then I think we'd all love to do it."

McLendon-Covey added, "And Kristen Wiig won't have a day off for the next 10 years."

"Our goal is to never let Kristen sleep ever again," Feig joked.

When we mentioned that we would be happy to see them all again in any movie, with or without any bridesmaids or weddings, Feig said, "I think even different characters [would be fun]. As long as we get the gang together, it would be a lot of fun."

With a touch of sass and Neil Patrick Harris, "The Big Bang Theory" star Kaley Cuoco opened the 2012 People's Choice Awards and set the tone for a night of good times when the show went live from Los Angeles on Wednesday night (January 11), kicking off what is sure to be an action-packed awards season.

The night was a mixed bag of awards for TV, music and movies, with Emma Stone, Demi Lovato and "Castle" as the big headlines of the night.

The guys of "The Grey" kicked off the night by handing out the award for Favorite Movie Actress to Emma Stone, who also won Favorite Comedic Actress. "You will literally make me cry," Stone told the room. "I moved to L.A. eight years ago this week. And it is so insane to be standing up here right now."

Favorite TV Comedy Actress went to "Glee" star Lea Michele, who beat out the night's host. She dedicated her award to "my amazing cast, my glee club. All of you are my best friends. You guys are the best. And Ryan Murphy for bringing so many of my dreams and making them come true. This is for my fans, and 'Glee' would be nothing without you guys."

"The Hunger Games" stars Liam Hemsworth and Jennifer Lawrence handed the award for Favorite TV Drama Actress to "Vampire Diaries" star Nina Dobrev, who seemed grateful to her fans for helping her win an award she wasn't originally nominated for. "Wow guys, this is so great. You guys wrote and wrote and continued to write in that they cave in and gave me a nomination that I won!" she said in her lacy emerald green dress.

Josh Hutcherson and Vanessa Hudgens welcomed Favorite Pop Artist winner Demi Lovato to the stage. Adam Sandler displayed his signature and vintage charm in his acceptance speech for Favorite Comedic Movie Actor, thanking his teachers for helping him make his frequently critically panned box-offices smashes.

Cory Monteith and Julianne Hough shared some banter before they handed Chloe Moretz the Favorite Movie Star Under 25 prize. "I can't even imagine that I'm in the same category as the whole 'Harry Potter' cast and I won," the 14-year-old said before thanking her fans.

Robert Pattinson accepted the award for Best Drama Movie for the sweeping and romantic "Water For Elephants." "Thank you very much," Pattinson said. "When I was doing this movie, I had so much fun doing it."

"Once Upon A Time" leading ladies Ginnifer Goodwin and Jennifer Morrison gave the Favorite TV Drama Actor trophy to "Castle" star Nathan Fillion. The show also won for Best TV Crime Drama.

"Vampire Diaries" hotties Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley showed their funny side when they presented "Bridesmaids" with the award for Favorite Comedy Movie. "We'd like to thank everyone who voted for 'Bridesmaids.' We'd especially like to thank Kristen Wiig," Producer Judd Apatow said with the female-driven cast behind him, who then launched into a rendition of Wilson Phillips' classic "Hold On."

"Haywire" star Ewan McGregor had the distinction of handing out the Favorite Movie Icon prize to Morgan Freeman. "When I found out I had been nominated... I decided to look up icon so here's what I found," Freeman said, going on to joke about the many definitions of the word, before he said he was "forever grateful for this honor."

"How I Met Your Mother" were the last to take the stage home when the cast accepted the award for Favorite Network TV Comedy.

By the end of the night, stars ranging from Rihanna (Favorite R&B Artist) to the cast of "2 Broke Girls" to Lady Gaga (for her album Born This Way) had nabbed a Waterford Crystal trophy.

Winning awards isn't anything new to Robert Pattinson — especially for his role in the "Twilight" franchise. But fans saw the actor in a brand-new light at the 2012 People's Choice Awards on Wednesday night (January 11) when he accepted an award for his film "Water for Elephants" and showed off his new buzz-cut hairdo.

Pattinson appeared casually made his way to the stage in a simple button-up shirt and jeans to accept the Favorite Drama Movie award from Zachary Levi and "Twilight" co-star Ashley Greene. Even without his shaggy, long locks, Pattinson received a standing ovation.

"Woah. Thank you very much. I don't know why they asked me to accept it because it's really a lot of other people as well," he chuckled over an echo of screams from the audience. "When I was doing this movie, I was having so much fun doing it that I was saying to everyone I didn't even care if anyone saw it. But now that people have seen it and they're giving awards for it, I'm even more thankful for the whole experience, so thank you guys very much."

"Water for Elephants" beat out "The Adjustment Bureau," "The Help," "Limitless" and "Moneyball."

Now Pattinson's love for "Elephants" isn't exactly a secret. Shortly before it hit theaters last April, MTV News spoke with the box-office heartthrob about his appreciation for the film. "It felt like it was kind of magical in many ways, because we were out in the desert shooting," he said. "There was nothing from the modern world around. It was a different experience for me. It wasn't in a studio or anything."

Demi Lovato certainly proved she was Unbroken when she took the stage at the 2012 People's Choice Awards on Wednesday night (January 11). The former Disney princess dazzled the room with a spirited rendition of her song "Give Your Heart a Break."

In a bright red dress (with matching red hair), she took the stage and belted out her Unbroken track. Instead of going flashy and over the top, the singer let the song rule the performance and kept it simple, taking the stage with just her band.

After her performance, she accepted the award for Favorite Pop Artist and had many kind words for the fans who helped her beat out the likes of Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Rihanna and Beyoncé.

"Thank you guys so much" she said. "This award is amazing. The nominees that I was up against are people that I look up to and aspire to be one day, and I won this award because of my fans. So I dedicate this to you guys. I love you guys so much. Without you guys tweeting so many times, I wouldn't be up here tonight. So thank you guys so much. You guys are so amazing."

"Give Your Heart A Break" is the singer's second single off her album, which dropped last fall. "I think it's grown-up, but it's not too grown-up," Lovato told MTV News in September. "It's not tasteless. It's growing up with my fans. It's [like] I'm not a kid anymore, but I'm also not a full-grown woman either. So I'm in that in-between stage, trying to figure out where that is. So I'm figuring it out, just like my fans are."

Kanye West's Ex Amber Rose: 'I'm Sick Of Being Bullied'

Model, who just released 'Fame' single, says on 'RapFix Live,' 'To be bullied through music ... it's not fair to me.'

Amber Rose is done with the drama! On Tuesday On Tuesday the stately model crossed over into artist mode when she released her new pop single "Fame" online, then she showed off some acting chops when she dropped the trailer for her upcoming film "Gang of Roses 2" just a few hours later. Unfortunately for Amber, her new endeavors aren't the only things that have people talking. Her relationship with Kanye West still comes under much scrutiny even though the pair has been broken up for a number of years.

On Wednesday's (January 11) episode of "RapFix Live," Rose took to the red couch to address all of the rumors regarding her and Kanye for the last time. Things got so emotional that she eventually broke into tears.

"Today on your show, I just want to let it be known that I am so done with the Kanye questions," she told Sway. "That's my past, I'm done with it.

"I'm done, I'm moving on with a new career. I'm in love with Wiz. I'm happy. I just want to move on with my life, and we can get everything out right now and then I'm done."

Amber is currently in a relationship with Wiz Khalifa, but her past romance with West still comes up in headlines. Whether it was on My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, where many of the songs seemed to be directed at Rose, or the Throne's November Philadelphia concert where Yeezy thanked Amber's native city for making her, the two former lovers are still constantly linked.

Rose made it clear that she is happily in love with Wiz. "I'm so happy now that I actually have a gentleman, a great guy that I love so much," she said of Khalifa. "Wiz knows that I never loved a man the way that I love him. He knows that, he's very secure with that."

Still, after her very public breakup with West, there is lingering pain when Rose is mistreated by people in public. "I have people throwing things at me in the street because they're fans of Kanye," Amber said before she started to cry on set. "I'm just crying because I don't deserve to be bullied like that. I'm a nice girl, I don't bother anybody. I keep my mouth shut because I don't want any trouble."

Putting all of the drama behind her was step one. Now, Amber looks to focus on her music career and acting career. She is currently working on her debut album and the film "Gang of Roses 2," which will be released on February 14.

"To be bullied through music and stuff like that, it's not fair to me," Rose continued while sobbing. "I don't deserve that, and I'm sick of being bullied."

Josh Hutcherson Has Seen 'A Good Little Bit' Of 'Hunger Games'

"The music is insane ... It's coming together great," actor tells MTV News at People's Choice Awards.

It's hard to contain our excitement for "The Hunger Games," and although we still have more than two months to wait until its release in theaters, our anxiousness is alleviated whenever we have the opportunity to speak with one of the film's stars.

At Wednesday night's (January 11) People's Choice Awards, MTV News was lucky enough to catch up with presenter Josh Hutcherson, who plays Peeta Mellark. He revealed that he has actually seen some of the finished film via his Automated Dialogue Recording sessions (wherein actors re-record certain sections of dialogue in order to improve the quality of the audio).

"I did ADR yesterday, actually. I saw a good little bit of the film yesterday; it looks good," he assured. "I'm really excited. The music is insane. The sound design, the editing, everything is amazing. It's coming together great."

Hutcherson said the first scene of competition in the actual Hunger Games — which, for those unfamiliar with the bestselling book upon which the movie is based, is a fight to the death among children — is going to blow people's minds in the best way possible.

"The scene with the cornucopia, where we all first rush in to get the weapons and whatnot, the way [director Gary Ross] has that scored and cut looks so amazing," he shared. "I can't wait for people to see it."

Hutcherson added that, despite the film's PG-13 rating, Ross hasn't watered down the brutality and bloodshed from Suzanne Collins' book.

Regarding how the flick gets around showing all the gore, Hutcherson teased, "Gary Ross does it. I can't give it away, but he does it. It's a little trick. It looks great, and it still has the brutality that the book had, while being PG-13."

Check out everything we've got on "The Hunger Games."

Kelly Clarkson will trail the footsteps of a string of big-voiced divas before her when she kicks off Super Bowl XLVI belting out the national anthem, according to The Associated Press.

The announcement was expected to be made later this month, but a source close to the AP broke the news on Wednesday night (January 11). Country couple Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton are also set to serve as entertainment when they perform "America the Beautiful" during the pre-game rounds.

And, of course, Madonna will make her much-talked-about comeback when she rocks Lucas Oil Stadium as the championship game's halftime show performer. The pop queen, who just announced the title of her 12th studio album, M.D.N.A., will perform her new single "Gimme all Your Luvin" in a performance that will be "imagined" by Cirque du Soleil and her longtime creative director Jamie King.

Clarkson is no stranger to national TV exposure. Just this past weekend, the pop songstress wrapped up another big gig as musical guest for "Saturday Night Live." Marking her third appearance on the iconic sketch comedy show, the singer performed her new hits "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)" and "Mr. Know It All."

MTV News caught up with the original "American Idol" champion, who gushed about the "SNL" cast. "It's a fun environment. You don't feel like you're working," she admitted. "This is like a family place. Everybody here is nice to people who aren't famous. You know what I'm saying? They're nice to my makeup artist, my hair guy ... I hate people who are just nice to famous people. It bothers me. I want to kick 'em."

'Making The Band' Alum Chopper City Recalls Recent Shooting

'I gave him that look like, 'You gonna have to kill me if you want this,' ' MC exclusively tells MTV News.

The past few days have been scary for "Making the Band 2" star Chopper City, but after being shot Friday, the New Orleans MC is out of the hospital and on the mend.

The rapper, who dropped a group album (Too Hot for TV) with Da Band on Bad Boy in 2003, was driving through Michigan on his way to a show when he got lost after his phone battery died and his GPS app failed. Chopper then noticed that a car was following him and pulled the Lamborghini he was driving into a gas station to try to shake his tail.

"He acted like he was walkin' past me ... and I seen him reach for a strap," Chopper told MTV News from his hotel room in Chicago. "He started shootin' at me, and he shot inside my Lamborghini, and he hit me on my side.

"He looked at my jewelry, but I gave him that look like, 'You gonna have to kill me if you want this,' " the rapper continued.

The shooter let off as many as four shots, Chopper estimated; he was hit once in his left leg. The gunman fled empty-handed, and the rapper was taken to the hospital, where he was able to charge his phone and call his entourage. As of now, no arrests have been made.

"You shot me for nothing; I didn't do nothing to you, dog," he said. "I just a young dude trying to do my thing. I just felt like that was an unnecessary crime."

Since "Making the Band 2" went off the air in 2004, Chopper City has been grinding independently, releasing mixtapes and touring without the aid of a major label. His most recent mixtape, Zoovie with DJ Gunpay, was released last summer, and Chopper plans to drop his next tape, Hard to Kill, on his 26th birthday January 22.

"I came up with it while I was in the hospital," Chopper said of Hard to Kill. "They tried to kill, you ain't just gonna kill me like that. I ain't goin' out like that."

Putting out a debut album has to be stressful, especially when faced with continual delays, but lucky for Lil Twist he has had the right people in his corner.

"I talked to my mom mostly, and then Wayne," Twist told Mixtape Daily about whom he sought advice from each time his Don't Get It Twisted album got pushed back. "Wayne and [Young Money president] Mack [Maine] are like my brothers, and Drake also. Drake is always a good person to give advice."

Twisted was originally slated for a 2011 release and has already produced a number of notable singles, including "Love Affair" with Lil Wayne and "Turnt Up" with Busta Rhymes. Now, the LP has a March 20 release date, which, to Twist, appears to be rock solid. 2 Chainz and Twist's buddy Justin Bieber are also expected to appear. "We're getting ready to drop that record 'Wherever You Are.' Y'all will have that real soon," Twist told MTV News of the high-powered collaboration. "It's a fun record. Justin killed it. He's, like, rap-singing on it; another different sound for Justin."

Don't Get It Twisted has been complete for some time, but Twist simply had to wait things out.

"Drake went through everything as far as being a new artist and on the same label, seeing how everything went down," he said of his Young Money labelmate. "So he was just letting me know what was going to go down, how I need to go about it and just how to overcome the stress that I was feeling coming out with this album."

Richard Armitage's Journey To 'The Hobbit' Best 'By Far'

Posted: 11 Jan 2012 02:00 AM PST

The U.K. actor is Middle-earth's most badass dwarf and One to Watch in 2012.
By Kevin P. Sullivan

This winter, director Peter Jackson will deliver the long-awaited return to Middle-earth. "The Hobbit," which will unfold across two films, begins with "An Unexpected Journey," as Bilbo Baggins leaves to win back gold stolen from his companions. But these are not just any friends. Bilbo is accompanied by 13 dwarves, each with a larger-than-life personality.

The leader of these adventurers, Thorin, will be played by Richard Armitage, who made a brief appearance in "Captain America: The First Avenger," but will get his biggest Stateside break in "The Hobbit." The British actor played a key role in last month's trailer and will soon join the illustrious ranks of Tolkien alumni, alongside Viggo Mortensen, Sean Bean and Orlando Bloom.

We spoke with Armitage about traveling to Middle-earth, the difficulty of working under pounds of makeup and leading a band of treasure-seeking dwarves.

MTV: Congratulations on being named to MTV's Ones to Watch!

Richard Armitage: Thank you very much!

MTV: Where are you currently in the filming schedule?

Armitage: We just finished up our second block, so we start again at the end of January, and then we go — we think it's the end of July. Then there's a bit more in 2013, we reckon.

MTV: What's it like being on a single project for so long?

Armitage: It's really weird because when we started it was just this enormous mountain to climb, but actually, it's going so fast. I think we've gotten to the halfway point now. It's been really intense but so exciting. We literally just finished our location shoot that we've been out on the road seeing most of New Zealand. It's been the best thing I've ever worked on in my life, by far.

MTV: Is it easy to forget you're acting? Do you get lost in the world the production creates?

Armitage: The soundstages they made in Wellington, [New Zealand], most of the time it doesn't feel like we've been working on a set. Even when there's a green screen there, Peter's vision of it is so clear and his description of it is so clear. The pre-production CGI that they've already created really fires up your imagination. That was the shoot we started with. On location, it's just theirs to program these amazing images into your head, so we can now take them back into the studio.

MTV: Will it be hard to leave behind once you've wrapped?

Armitage: It don't think it will be possible to leave it behind me. I think this is one of those characters that always stay with you because you spend so much time with him and it's such a transformation. I'm in the character every day, and I've become so familiar with him. I sort of know how he thinks. I feel really close to the character, and he will continue beyond this job , [spoiler ahead] even though, he dies at the end of the movie. I think he is a fascinating character. I will probably wake up in six years' time and be inspired to think about him again. It's really exciting.

MTV: How did your previous knowledge of the story change how you approached Thorin?

Armitage: I read it quite a few times when I was young. I think going back to it as an adult is really interesting because it is a book that was, I think, was written for Tolkien's children, but when you're creating a piece on this scale, you have to really visualize it for a much broader audience. I think that's the beauty of Tolkien. He does create very well-rounded, quite dangerous characters to play his protagonists. He risks scaring kids. He's the original fantasy creator, and I think you have to invest those characters with the same gravity as if you were making a piece for adults. It was interesting coming back to it as an adult, re-reading it again, because it did have a simplicity to it, which I really like. I felt we could take those characters and really develop them beyond the book.

MTV: You ended up with middle ground in terms of the amount of makeup. Did you feel lucky?

Armitage: It did evolve. We all started with quite an extreme version of ourselves. I think because my character does spend a lot of time onscreen and you really have to understand what he's going through emotionally, it became clear that if we started make the prosthetic as close to my features as possible but still make him a dwarf, it would be much easier to read the character. He has to go on such a journey, it was really important to do that. I grew my own beard after the first block because I felt that it was restricting my face. The jaw is so connected to emotion that I wanted to have that free. It made such a huge difference.

It's really weird now because I can't play the character when I haven't gotten everything on. It's very hard to rehearse when you're not in costume, when you haven't gotten the prosthetics on, but I look in the mirror when it's all finished and I don't see it. I can't see where it starts and where it ends. I just see the character. I've never had that before. It's such a unique experience. It's a face that doesn't belong to me. It belongs to WETA workshop and the people that created it.

MTV: How was it on set with so many actors playing the dwarves?

Armitage: I love it. I absolutely love working as an ensemble member, and we really are an ensemble. There's great camaraderie among all the guys. There is such a diversity of culture and background. We're working with a lot of Kiwis, and there's real mixture of British actors who come from television and theater and film. It's exactly as the dwarves are. When Thorin assembles the quest, he pulls dwarves from all different places to go on this quest. That's mirrored in who we are as actors.

What are you waiting for? Your must-see movie needs your support. It's time to show character, poise and heart. Vote for your picks now at MTV Movie Brawl 2012!

Stars of 'Twilight' and 'Harry Potter' also on star-studded lineup for show airing tonight on CBS at 9 p.m. ET.

The People's Choice Awards may be one of the more democratic awards shows of the season. After all, it's fans, and not a faceless "academy" of industry professionals, that decide who'll take home the big PCA prizes in categories like Favorite Tour Headliner, Favorite TV Celebreality Star and Favorite Movie Star Under 25. And it's all happening tonight at 9 p.m. ET on CBS.

Host Kaley Cuoco, herself a nominee for her turn on "The Big Bang Theory," promised a fun-filled evening, telling Ryan Seacrest on his radio show, "I'm really looking forward to it and there are a lot of great musical numbers and it's going to be fun." She also joked with the "American Idol" host that she plans on "changing 47 times, 47 dresses. I'm changing every five minutes. I want to go down in the Hall of Fame with that. So we'll see how many times I can possibly change."

So who can fans expect to see on the red carpet? Only some of the biggest A-listers from the worlds of film, TV and music, including "Twilight" stars Robert Pattinson and Ashley Greene; "Hunger Games" leads Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson; as well as Emma Stone, Vanessa Hudgens, Chloe Grace Moretz, Maroon 5's Adam Levine, Julianne Hough and "Glee" stars Lea Michele and Cory Monteith.

Also expected to attend are Dan Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson and Tom Felton of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2," which leads all nominees this year. "Potter" heads into the awards with nine nominations for Favorite Movie and Favorite Action Movie, Favorite Actor (Radcliffe), Favorite Movie Star Under 25 (Radcliffe, Grint, Felton and Watson), Favorite Ensemble Movie Cast and Favorite Book Adaptation.

One notable absence is nominee Katy Perry, who was set to make her first public appearance following the announcement of her divorce from Russell Brand at tonight's live event but canceled earlier this week. She apologized to her fans on Twitter, writing, "Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the People's Choice Awards. I want to thank u all for voting for me, fingers crossed! #KATYCATS."

Perry is nominated for a whopping seven People's Choice Awards, including Favorite Female Artist, Favorite Song of the Year ("E.T."), Favorite Pop Artist, Favorite Animated Movie Voice ("The Smurfs") and Favorite Music Video for "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)." PCA executive producer Mark Burnett clearly sympathizes with Perry's decision not to attend, telling E! News that her choice was completely "understandable."

The show will include musical performances from Faith Hill and Demi Lovato as well as comedy sketches featuring Jimmy Fallon, Jane Lynch and the casts of "Parks and Recreation" and Cuoco's own "The Big Bang Theory."

Among the other major nominees are "Bridesmaids," "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides," "The Help," "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" and "Potter" for Favorite Movie. Ryan Reynolds, Pattinson, Johnny Depp, Hugh Jackman, and Radcliffe will vie for Favorite Movie Actor, while Anne Hathaway, Emma Stone, Jennifer Aniston, Julia Roberts and Reese Witherspoon are squaring off for Favorite Movie Actress.

In the music categories, the Favorite Male and Female Artist races are a who's who of MTV favorites, including Eminem, Bruno Mars, Justin Bieber, Perry, Adele, new mom Beyoncé, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift. The Song of the Year race includes Gaga's "The Edge of Glory," LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem," Maroon 5's "Moves Like Jagger," Perry's "E.T." and MTV's Best Song of 2011, Adele's "Rolling in the Deep."

Who are you rooting for on the 2011 People's Choice Awards? Tell us in the comments!

Catch the People's Choice Awards tonight at 9 p.m. ET on CBS. And stick with MTV News for red-carpet coverage, winners, fashion and all the buzz.

'Devil Inside' Writer And Director Talk Success, Controversy

'More than anything, we're just excited that people are talking about the movie,' writer Matthew Peterman tells MTV News.

Director William Brent Bell and writer Matthew Peterman defied all expectations when their new film, "The Devil Inside," broke January box-office records. The horror movie grossed $35 million domestically in its opening weekend for Paramount.

Since the film's surprise success and subsequent controversy, Bell and Peterman have found themselves at the center of a lot of talk around Hollywood. The writer/director duo took time to speak with MTV News about the film, the audience reaction and the controversial ending.

MTV: What has your week been like since the release?

Matthew Peterman: It's really exciting. It's just exciting for the movie business that it reinvigorated the marketplace a little bit, so it's nice to be a part of that to some degree.

MTV: What were your expectations going into the release?

Bell: When we made the film, we made it completely independently and outside the studio system. It was me, Matt [and] our producing partner Morris Paulson, who independently financed the film. We went off to Europe and shot the movie, came back here with it and just worked on it for about a year. We brought on Steven Schneider and Lorenzo di Bonaventura. We worked on it with them for a while and then presented it to Paramount. We had been working on the film since its first inception, over five years at that point, but a year and a half of actually shooting and editing and all the good stuff.

Peterman: I think our expectations were to make the best film we could. Hopefully, everything else would just take care of itself. We didn't have an idea that it would do anything like this. There were no expectations for that.

MTV: What do you think of the audience reaction?

Peterman: I think, more than anything, we're just excited that people are talking about the movie. We know it's a polarized audience. That's kind of the cool thing that movies do, because we took a lot of chances. We kind of see it in the way people are talking about it.

Bell: We're just excited people are talking about it. We're excited there are a lot of people who do like the movie. It is very interesting and cool to have a polarizing movie out there that people can get into the heat of discussion about. That's actually interesting. The more people are interested, the better it is for the film.

Peterman: It's a lot better, man, than just putting a movie out there that's just forgotten. We have our fair share of fans. We have our fair share of naysayers. It's cool to see people getting into healthy discussion about a film.

MTV: How different was your experience this time compared to your first film, the video game-themed horror movie "Stay Alive"?

Bell: It was 180 degrees different. It kind of started off the same, but it very quickly changed. The budget was 10 times this, depending on how you look at it. We did it kind of independently but not really, because it had such a big budget. We shot in America with a huge union crew. It was a much more standard Hollywood kind of experience and one I didn't enjoy very much.

Peterman: There were huge companies involved in that film. "The Devil Inside" was a completely independent project in every sense of the word. We enjoyed "Devil Inside" much better.

Bell: It was released by a studio that really didn't understand those types of films. You know the typical story where you destroy the movie in editing and you turn it from an R-rated film to a PG-13 film, and the result is something really unsatisfying. This time, we got to do what we wanted to do, pretty much.

MTV: What are you going to take away from "The Devil Inside"?

Bell: We really love this. You can call it "found footage." You can call it "mock-doc" or "faux-doc" or whatever, depending on how you tell the story. We love this whole space, because you can work with really talented people and aren't beholden to a great deal of money and take more chances. There are only so many stories you can tell, so to be able to tell a story in a unique way, this kind of documentary style allows us to do that. We certainly want to continue down that path. It gives audiences something different.

Peterman: It allows you to do unconventional things. We did those on "The Devil Inside" for sure.

MTV: Is horror a genre you want to stay in?

Bell: I think it will be for a while. We've written a lot of projects that we've set up at different studios that kind of span different genres. We have a project now that's more of a straightforward thriller. It's in the pipeline. Certainly the next project and maybe the next two projects will stay in that space. We have a really exciting horror project that we hope to be shooting really soon. It's a real departure from this one, but then again, there are also some similarities, the techniques we're using.

[Spoiler ahead!]

MTV: The film's ending frustrated many moviegoers. What were your thoughts on the URL at the end of the film?

Bell: That was something different. When that idea came up, we thought that could fit. It's a very interactive concept.

Check out everything we've got on "The Devil Inside."

Pop queen's rep confirms to MTV News that her next project will be called M.D.N.A.

Madonna's forthcoming album officially has a title. The pop queen's 12th studio LP will be called M.D.N.A., representatives for the singer confirmed to MTV News on Wednesday (January 11).

Madonna announced the album title during a taping of the U.K.'s "Graham Norton Show," which will air Friday on BBC One. While making the press rounds in support of her film "W.E.," she has offered up a few details on her much-anticipated album, which is reportedly due in late March. On Thursday, "Nightline" is set to air a "candid and revealing" interview with the singer, in which she answers fan questions and addresses talk about a rumored rivalry with Lady Gaga.

The singer recently confirmed that M.D.N.A. will be released as part of her new three-record deal with Interscope. The first single from the project, "Gimme All Your Luvin," features Nicki Minaj and M.I.A.; it's set for release later this month ahead of Madonna's performance at the Super Bowl XLVI halftime show on February 5 in Indiana.

"We couldn't be happier to work with [Interscope's] Jimmy Iovine, [Chairman & CEO, Universal Music Group] Lucian Grainge and the entire Interscope team," Madonna's longtime manager Guy Oseary said in a statement about the new label deal. "We anticipate a very bright future at our new home."

The Super Bowl performance will reportedly be "imagined" by Cirque du Soleil and Madonna's longtime choreographer/ creative director Jamie King. The event may also feature appearances from her "Gimme All Your Luvin" collaborators. According to reports, the set list for the Super Bowl show will include "Luvin" as well as Madonna classics like "Ray of Light," Vogue" and "Music."

A demo version of "Luvin" hit the Web last November and received positive advance buzz from critics and bloggers. Madonna's team, however, was disappointed with the leak, and Oseary took to Twitter to say that while they were "very happy with the positive reaction to the demo," they were "very upset with whoever leaked the song."

That disappointment translated into legal action in late December, when a 31-year-old man in Zaragoza, Spain, was arrested for leaking the song.

'I'd say we're maybe about 40 percent done,' Luda tells Billboard about his Ludaversal.
By Rob Markman

Are you ready for another Ludacris album? It's been two years since 'Cris dropped his last album, Battle of the Sexes, and the Atlanta MC estimates that his next one will hit stores this spring.

"I get the beats together and I put out my ideas, so I'd say we're maybe about 40 percent done," the rapper told Billboard of his upcoming eighth LP, Ludaversal, which he anticipates will be out around May with a first single dropping in March.

Luda, who dropped his 1.21 Gigawatts mixtape in November, also revealed one big-time guest on the LP. "Usher is one person that I've already worked with," he said. "In terms of other artists, you can say that there's going to be a lot of surprises on here."

The pair already have a few collaborations under their belt. Who can forget Usher's inescapable smash "Yeah!" from his 2004 Confessions album? The two also hooked up on Lil Jon's "Lovers and Friends" in the same year and then again two years ago on Usher's "She Don't Know." As far as what the two have cooked up for Ludaversal, fans will just have to wait and see.

Throughout his career, Luda has shown a ton of versatility. An undeniable hitmaker, at times the nimble-tongued lyricist has been comical (2001's "Area Codes" and 2004's "Number One Spot") and in other instances delivered healthy amounts of substance (2006's "Runaway Love" and 2008's "Do the Right Thing"). For Ludaversal, he will get a little personal.

"It's been a minute since I've been away from music, and there is just so much to talk about," he said. "So [the album] is mostly about my personal life, my travels, my experiences, rumors, gossip — you know, everything coming together in one."
