Jay-Z brought Kanye West and Rihanna out to the New York City borough of Queens on Thursday to shoot scenes for his video for "Run This Town," from his forthcoming album The Blueprint 3. The powerful trio didn't hit famous Queens 'hoods like Queensbridge, South Side or Hollis, instead they hit the park. However, this was no picnic scene: from the looks of things, a revolution was being started! The trio shot in the historic Fort Totten Park, which is part recreational park, part preserved Civil War fortress.

Photos of the black-clad trio from the top-secret shoot have popped up on thelifefiles.com, where you see Jay — in one outfit — wearing a black hoodie and jacket with bullets draped around his neck. In another scene Rihanna dons a veil, a hoodie and a cover over her face; in another there's glamour shot where the singer is wearing dark sunglasses, boots and shorts, standing in between Jay and 'Ye, both of whom are wearing sunglasses.

According to a source who was on the set, Jay had about 80 extras dressed in black as well. The supporters are said to be forming a militia-type group in the video on the side of Hova, West and RiRi. Kanye's girlfriend Amber Rose reportedly visited the set as a spectator.

Anthony Mandler directed the clip, and some of the scenery on the set reportedly included fire and overturned cars — the aftermath of some sort of scripted confrontation, no doubt.

Earlier this week, it was announced that Jay, Kanye and Rihanna will perform "Run This Town" on the maiden episode of one hour variety program, "The Jay Leno Show." The show is scheduled for September 14 at 10 p.m.

Three days prior (on September 11), Jay releases The Blueprint 3. "Run This Town" is the second official single, following "D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)."

On Ryan Seacrest's radio show on Friday (August 7), the "American Idol" host revealed that he, along with judges Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, Kara DioGuardi and guest judge Victoria Beckham, had landed in Denver for the next round of auditions. On the show, DioGuardi talked about Paula Abdul's departure from "Idol."

"I can't get over it. I'm completely shocked," she said about Abdul leaving the show. "It's such a loss for the show, such a loss for the contestants. She's definitely the heart of the panel."

She added that despite what people might think, she was never brought in to replace Abdul. "The way I'm understanding it is that it was her choice to leave," DioGuardi explained. "I never was here to replace her. It would be impossible to replace Paula Abdul. She's an incredible talent. She is somebody who helped make the show as big as it is. How could you ever replace that? If anything, she was really somebody who helped me, because it was awkward at times being the fourth person."

DioGuardi added that she was always treated with "heart" by Abdul. "The kind of heart she treated the contestants with, she treated me with last year," DioGuardi said, adding that she was "scared" when she joined the show last season. "She was so kind to me and made me feel immediately like part of the panel. I'm hoping she'll reconsider."

DioGuardi said that despite their relationship on the show, she hasn't spoken to Abdul since she announced she was leaving. "I've left her a lot of messages," she said. "I talked to her last week. I haven't spoken to her this week."

Now that she's one season into the show, DioGuardi is hoping to show people a more "comfortable" side of herself. "I am excited. You know it's an incredible show," she said. "Last year was tough at times because being the new kid you get beat up a bit, I'm hoping that this year that people are more accepting."

Young Jeezy Brings LeBron James To America's Most Wanted Stage

The Snowman and the King connected in Cleveland last night. LeBron James showed some love to hip-hop great Young Jeezy during the Young Money Presents: America's Most Wanted Music Festival at the Blossom Music Center. The NBA's MVP came out just before Kanye West's verse on "Put On." LeBron didn't rhyme, but he threw up the Roc sign onstage.

Jeezy sat down with MTV News recently and told us that this outing with Lil Wayne and Soulja Boy Tell'em is a major step up from his concert origins.

"I came up through the chitterling circuit, bruh," Young said. "I remember performing on top of two speakers and that was the stage. Those were the speakers the DJs were using. Those were his speakers, and he would run through the music. I would stand on the speakers and perform. To get from that point to now ... the platform is bigger, so you have to go in. These are the same cats [in the audience] that have been rocking with you for four or five years. Some seen you at clubs, some seen you wherever. You come back, it's a big deal now. You gonna come back and rock it the same? You gotta step it up."

Jeezy's been very cognizant of reinventing himself onstage. Rather than come out from the ceiling — which would be extremely difficult, given that the AMW tour is hitting mostly outdoor venues — he has evolved by bringing a band on the road and parading out some surprise guest stars.

"I love what I do and I take it very seriously," Jeezy said. "If you in the crowd, I want you to feel the same I feel. Now I feel bigger, better and I still feel 'hood. I wanna bring that to this. Everybody [on the bill] tells you their piece. I wanna bring that element. I'm the only dude that can tell you 'My President Is Black,' 'I'm a Soul Survivor' and I'm from the 'Bottom of the Map.' "

Heidi Montag and hubby Spencer Pratt both officially debuted Heidi's September Playboy cover on the red carpet for "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra" on Thursday (August 6). And now the "Hills" star, who played coy about confirming the photos earlier this summer, is revealing how she got Playboy-ready for the shoot.

"I worked out very hard for this," Heidi told Access Hollywood, while plugging her Web site and her fitness routine. "I worked my butt off. [Playboy] kind of had a vision ... and we brought in Matthew Rolston, who is a very well-known amazing photographer," she explained. "So, it's more art."

Although some husbands may be jealous over their wives appearing in Playboy, Spencer couldn't be more proud to see his on the magazine's cover, clad in a white bikini. "See her powerful curves," Spencer said. "They are powerful! It's an honor. I feel like I did something great, like I should get a trophy!

"[The photos are] beautiful art," he continued. "Not, like, Picasso art — real beautiful art, you know what I'm saying?"

The magazine may also be the ultimate gift for Spencer, as it hits newsstands on his 26th birthday. "It comes out on [Spencer's] birthday," Heidi said. "August 14. Happy birthday, hubby!"

During his Friday (August 7) morning performance on "Good Morning America," last year's "American Idol" champ David Cook got a little help from a couple of his closest pals.

Cook was joined on stage by current "Idol" crown-wearer Kris Allen and runner-up Adam Lambert for a rocking take on Fleetwood Mac's 1987 song "Little Lies," briefly turning the Central Park stage into the epicenter of the "Idol" universe.

Cook, Allen and Lambert traded verses on the tune while the audience screamed wildly. The surprise collaboration was part of GMA's "Summer Concert Series," live from New York City. Their version of "Lies" wasn't televised, however — rather, it was saved for a Web exclusive, which you can watch here.

Cook — backed by his four-piece band — handled the opening verse of the tune himself, but then, unexpectedly, announced "Ladies and gentlemen, I need you to make a ton of noise for Adam Lambert and Kris Allen!" The two emerged from backstage, mics in hand (much to the delight of the crowd), and took turns tackling the next verse. All three then joined together on the chorus.

At song's end, under a wave of guitar feedback, all three smiled and bowed, as the Central Park crowd cheered wildly.

All three men also performed separately as part of "GMA's" "Summer Concert Series" live from New York City. Cook did his hit "Come Back To Me," Lambert performed his cover of Muse's "Starlight," and Allen did his cover of Kanye West's "Heartless."

Cook had previously performed a solo version of "Little Lies" earlier this year on "Jimmy Kimmel Live."

Victoria Beckham Hopes Simon Cowell Gives Her A 'Hard Time'

'American Idol' guest judge tells Ryan Seacrest that she's looking for an Idol with 'natural style.'

Victoria Beckham, who was just announced as a guest judge for the upcoming ninth season of "American Idol", said she can't wait to sit next to the former A&R guy who once rejected the Spice Girls, fellow Brit Simon Cowell.

"He is the only man in the music industry who turned down the Spice Girls and said we would never work," Beckham told Ryan Seacrest on his radio show on Friday (August 7), just before she sat in on auditions in Denver. "I like that fact that he's honest. I think he's very funny."

She added that she doesn't know Cowell very well, but very much understands his attitude and sense of humor. "He has a very tongue-in-cheek British sense of humor, which I have too. I'm looking forward to a bit of banter," she said. "I hope he does give me a little bit of a hard time. I love that. I feed off of that."

Abdul was always the sweet ying to Cowell's sour yang, and it's a tradition that Beckham hopes to uphold during her tenure as judge. "I want to be nice to people. I know how it feels to stand there and be judged, and how it can feel when nerves get the better of you. I don't want to shatter anybody's dream," she said. "But at the same time, there's nothing wrong with constructive criticism."

As for replacing Abdul, even if it is for a brief amount of time, Beckham doesn't feel bad about it, because she knows that soon enough the former judge will be great at whatever she does next. "I don't. I'm a spiritual person, and I believe that you get back what you put out there, and I hope she does something that is bigger and better," she said. "There's something great for her around the corner, I'm sure."

Beckham said she's looking for an Idol with a "natural style." "What I'm looking for [in an Idol winner] is a great singer and somebody who has that star quality," she said. "It's about the whole package."

Which Hip-Hop Videos Would We Add To VMA Nominees?

Posted: 07 Aug 2009 03:26 AM PDT

We talk about which videos we would nominate if there was room for more, in 'Off the Dome.'
By Shaheem Reid

With the voting for the VMA nominees underway, fans are talking about Kanye or Eminem, Slim Shady or Asher Roth, Jay-Z or T.I. The possibilities go on and on.

When it comes to debates about who is the hottest, I may know a thing or two about that. Fellow MTV News Hip-Hop Brain Trustee Rahman Dukes and I sat down this week to discuss the nominations in a couple of categories for this year's Video Music Awards: Best Male Video and Best Hip-Hop Video.

The latter includes Asher Roth's "I Love College," Eminem's "We Made You," Jay-Z's "D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)," Kanye West's "Love Lockdown" and Flo Rida's "Right Round." Best Male features mostly hip-hop dudes: Eminem, Jay-Z, and Kanye West for their aforementioned clips as well as T.I.'s "Live Your Life" and Ne-Yo's "Miss Independent."

While I won't spoil the video and tell you guys who we each chose, I can mention a couple of videos that we'd add to the nominees if we could.

Since Lil Wayne's "Got Money" was from last year, I'll cast my vote for Soulja's Boy "Turn My Swag On." Young'n had his game on with that video! It was lo-fi but high energy, and a very entertaining video. A young black brother (singing significantly off-key, however) getting that cream; coming from nothing to something in a major way. When he was 9 years old, Soulja swore he was gonna die for that gold.

Rahman is partial to Rick Ross' "Magnificent" video. How could you not crack a smile at seeing Ross in an ascot at the horse races? And he even brought Special Ed back for the video!

Check out the video and let us know what you think!

The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards will take place September 13 at 9 p.m. ET. Nominees, celebrity presenters and additional performers will be announced in the coming weeks. To be the first to find out the inside scoop, follow the Inside MTV Twitter account at Twitter.com/InsideMTV.

In the past two weeks, British pop-R&B singer Jay Sean's debut single "Down" (featuring Lil Wayne), has rocketed from #63 to #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. On the iTunes Top 10 songs chart, "Down" is now nestled in between the Black Eyed Peas and Kings of Leon at #2. Yes, to say life is moving exceptionally fast for the newcomer (to most Americans, anyway) would be an understatement.

"It's absolutely crazy," Sean told MTV News on the phone from England Thursday. "I've been out there in the States for a good six or seven months, and with my song coming in at #2 on iTunes, all my best friends came up to London to be with me for a little holiday. And we were all sitting in my car and I opened up my e-mail and it said 'Jay Sean in at #6 on Billboard.' I just literally screamed and all my boys rolled down the windows and screamed, 'My boy is in at #6!' "

In the wake of that success, rumors are now swirling that Wayne protégé/ labelmate Drake will be making a guest appearance on the second single from Sean's forthcoming album, which is due in October.

When asked, Sean said, "I'm keeping my mouth shut. I love Drake. I think Drake's an unbelievably gifted lyricist and young and fresh. I think it's pretty safe to say that since he's part of the family now, you're gonna see all of us working together: Me, Drake, Wayne, Baby and Kevin Rudolph."

A rep for Drake had not responded to MTV News' request for comment at press time.

Jay Sean's album, My Own Way, is scheduled for an October Stateside release.

As the Jonas Brothers still work out who will be Kevin's best man at his wedding to Danielle Deleasa, they want to apologize to all the wedding parties at all the hotels they've stayed at that have been ruined thanks to the overzealous fans who bombard them.

"We've had a couple instances where there's been weddings going on during the time we were at the hotel," Kevin said on "The Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien" on Thursday night. "We've had brides like, 'You've ruined my wedding.' "

"There's 100 to 1200 fans who show up, and the bride, her wedding's just ruined," Nick added. "Just screaming fans the whole time. ... And we've actually sent apology gifts to the bride and the groom."

While the JoBros may be unintentionally ruining some couples' big day, there are fans who make a point of ruin the guys' days for no reason at all. O'Brien asked if it's ever awkward when fans come up one of them to say he's not their favorite Jonas Brother. The answer is quite obviously, yes.

"I've had that experience happen to me before," Kevin said. Joe, patting his brother on the back and mumbling that he loves him, recalled one particular fan who expressed her preference with a sign. "There was a [fan] sign that said, 'Nick, you're hot. Joe, you're cute. Kevin, you're OK.' "

Kevin, being the good-natured older brother that he is, added that he would have really have liked to tell the fan, "And I just want thank you for this. That just brightened my day to another level. I took a picture; it encouraged me to get up the next morning."

The boys also talked about the people who show up to their concerts just to make it known that they don't like their music. "There are some people who come to the concert to show they don't like you," Joe said. "They'll come, and they'll just sit there."

Despite whatever strange behavior some fans may exhibit when around JoBros, Nick is quick to point out that for the most part, their fans are pretty awesome. "It's fun, and what's more amazing than that is just the fact that the fans are showing up and singing the new songs and being apart of it all," he said. "It's such an amazing thing."
