Kim Kardashian Vs. Bieber Fans And More Great Feuds Of 2010

Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and the 'Jersey Shore' cast also had awesome battles this year.

No year would be complete without celebrities getting into some (mostly verbal) fisticuffs with one another. And 2010 saw reality stars battling it out, a pop star's fans going after a socialite, two musicians blabbing about their love life, two mega pop stars fighting about art and a resurgence of one 2009's epic conflicts. All in all, it was an entertaining year to look on from the sidelines.

Kim Kardashian vs. Justin Bieber's Fans
In April, 16-year-old Justin Bieber announced he'd love to date 30-year-old Kim Kardashian. In May weeks, when she tweeted a photo of the pair hanging out, Bieber fans were sending the reality starlet death threats. While she hoped that the threats were in "good fun," that controversy would soon give way to Bill O'Reilly critiquing the pair's playful Elle photo shoot. Kim later heard fighting words from Chelsea Handler in the battle for the affections of the pop star. Relax, ladies, there's enough Bieber for everyone.

Katy Perry vs. Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga used loads of religious symbolism in her artsy clip for her summer jam, "Alejandro," and one very famous daughter of a preacher, Katy Perry, didn't seem happy about the video. Shortly after the video premiere, Perry tweeted that "blasphemy as entertainment is as cheap as a comedian telling a fart joke," without actually naming Gaga or her song. Gaga never responded, but her bestie Perez Hilton said he was "surprised" that Katy would feel that way. Perry later said the tweet wasn't about Gaga, but it was a response to a number of things she had been seeing in pop culture. And by the end of the year, Katy was praising Gaga in Maxim.

Taylor Swift vs. Kanye West 2.0
We sort of hope 2011 will be the year we can stop talking about the whole Taylor vs. Kanye thing. Sure, Kanye West and Taylor Swift spent most of 2010 not talking about the 2009 VMA incident and instead concentrated on their fourth quarter releases. But everyone else kept talking about it, including Eminem. By the time the VMAs came around again in 2010, Kanye had publicly apologized to the singer on Twitter, and she took the stage to perform her new ballad, "Innocent," after airing a clip of the bum rush. Then Kanye closed the show with the self-effacing "Runaway." Now that they got it off their chest, can they put it all behind them at last? Can we?

Jersey Shore Cast vs. Angelina
After leaving the Seaside Heights house in a huff early on in season one, Angelina came back for more "Jersey Shore" drama in Miami in season two. Her housemates promptly confronted for talking smack about them in their time apart, but Snooki laid it all out there: Apologize and we can be fine. Angelina complied, and all was cool until she hooked up with Vinny. Snooki, who had hooked up with Vinny, was not happy about that. The Sitch got involved, called Angelina a "dirty hamster," and the "Kim Kardashian of Staten Island" was soon out of the house again. This time, we think, for good.

John Mayer vs. Jessica Simpson
Sometimes, when two people break up, one of them will talk about their relationship to everyone who will listen. In this case, John blabbed, and to Playboy, no less. Calling his ex "sexual napalm" led to the greatest publicity Simpson could ever have expected. While Mayer apologized for his comments, she went on every talk show to promote her reality show, "The Price of Beauty," while also managing to announce that she didn't really accept John's apology and laughing that he gave away her game.

Keri Hilson Lets In The Men For <i>No Boys Allowed</i>

As the singer let MTV News tag along on a day of album promotion, she explained her exclusive title.

What better way to spend a Monday than with "Pretty Girls Rock" singer Keri Hilson, as she promotes this week's release of her new album, No Boys Allowed? MTV News was lucky enough to tag along with Hilson and occasionally pepper her with questions while she hopped around New York City for photo shoots and prepared for an interview on "106 & Park."

In a cab ride to BET's studios, we asked Hilson which song she's most excited for fans to hear on the new album.

"That's a hard question," she said. "It's almost like asking, 'Which baby do you like the most? Which child do you like the most?' "

So, we tried an easier question. Why aren't boys allowed? Or, does she mean that boys aren't allowed but men are?

"Yeah, men [are allowed]," Hilson said. "That's the point of the album. I feel like I give so much of the female perspective, and I really wanted to give guys a chance to sound off and give their perspective on certain things, so I had to bring in the men."

By way of illustrating the point (maybe), we saw Hilson receiving a piggy-back ride from a manly friend. "This is a man's job!" Hilson shouted. "No boys allowed! Only a man can handle this," she added, referring to her burly mode of "transport."

After her "106 & Park" performance, we asked Richie, Hilson's choreographer, whether she was a good dance pupil or not.

"Uh, yes, Keri is amazing," he said.

"What do you mean, 'Uh, yes?' " interjected Hilson, who recently caused a stir with her racy grinding in the video for "The Way You Love Me."

"I mean, listen. It's a process that we go through, but Mama's always under the gun," he tried to explain, at which point Hilson cut in again.

"Boo! Cut!" Hilson mock protested, and pretended to put her dance man in a headlock.

"And she comes out and she wins," Richie finished, laughing. "So, yes, it's an amazing process, but Mama makes it through the fire."

Lady Gaga And Kanye West Are 2010's Most Fashionable Celebs

Posted: 20 Dec 2010 03:52 AM PST

Rihanna, Kim Kardashian and Katy Perry also shined this year.

What four ladies and one dude had everyone buzzing about their fashion choices in 2010? Well, this year, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West kept us guessing about what they would wear on a daily basis.

From red carpets to high-profile Hollywood events, these five had us trying to copy some of their hottest looks. Here are some of their fashion highlights from the past 12 months:

Lady Gaga
Listen, Lady Gaga isn't scared to try anything when it comes to fashion. She takes risks, breaks all the rules and makes a whole new set of her own. She's Lady Gaga — need we say anything more?

Standout Moments: It's easy to say the "meat dress," but we have a few others as well. The Armani Prive orbital dress she wore to the Grammys was out of this world, the Alexander McQueen VMA red-carpet dress showed she was a Renaissance woman, and her black Armani VMA dress was also stunning. Finally, the black-sequin bodysuit she wore to the "We Are Plastic Ono Band" tribute was truly Gaga hippie-chic.

Rihanna
With one change of her hair, Rihanna became red-hot and set the trend for everyone to embrace fiery-red locks. Her fierce sense of style combined street edge with girly frills. Not many can pull off a tutu the way Rihanna does, but she works it with confidence and a big smile.

Standout Moments: Her ethereal white EMA Marchesa gown was show-stopping, her Madonna-esque VMA performance tutu and belly-baring tank top was truly Rih, her super-short patterned shirt dress she wore to the Kids' Choice Awards was hip, and that lacy red gown she wore to the AMAs embraced her siren side.

Katy Perry
"California Gurls" may wear daisy dukes and bikinis on top, but this particular California girl wears lots of latex and sequins, not that we hear any of the guys complaining. The singer proved that in 2010, she wasn't just a certifiable pop star, but also a full-fledged fashionista.

Standout Moments: She glowed at the Met Costume Gala; the sparkly, nude-colored mini she wore to the MTV Movie Awards had us doing double takes; her peacock-colored, sequined one-piece at the Kids' Choice Awards was very Vegas; and her Zac Posen, gold flower-petal-emblazoned gown she wore to the Grammys definitely referenced her time in India.

Kim Kardashian
It's not easy wearing bandage dresses and Grecian-style gowns, but reality TV's starlet du jour, Kim K, does it with ease and sass and manages to pull off each look rather, dare we say, seamlessly.

Standout Moments: Strutting her stuff like Liz Taylor or J.Lo at the CFDA Awards in her pale-blue, jewel-encrusted gown; keeping it short and sweet at a Beyoncé event in November; looking femme-fatale glam at the FiFi Awards in her strapless, body-hugging black dress; and looking white-hot at the Emmy Awards in her Grecian gown complete with golden detailing on her neckline.

Kanye West
There aren't many guys who are able to stand up in the fashion ring alongside the ladies, but Kanye West isn't just any guy. He's a guy who can wear a grill, a giant chain and a red suit all at once and somehow make it look sophisticated and not gaudy. On his Twitter page, he always shows love to high-end designers like Lanvin and has us salivating over his taste in couture.

Standout Moments: His VMA performance suit was red-hot and a reference to the similar outfit he wore to the BET Awards earlier that was equally eye-catching. His suits from the "Runaway" film were so well-tailored, and the plaid blazer he wore to the "We Are the World" recording session was gaudy and purely Yeezy.

Whose fashion did you covet in 2010? Let us know in the comments!

Matt Damon's 'True Grit' Character Has No Beef With Shia LaBeouf

The man behind Texas goofball LaBoeuf also had a hand in LaBeouf's career -- coincidence?

In "True Grit," the upcoming and much-buzzed about western from the Coen brothers, Matt Damon gets a chance to showcase his playful, comedic side via his character, LaBoeuf, pronounced "La Beef."

Given the familiar-ish spelling of the character's name and Damon's history in working with actor Shia LaBeouf — one of his first non-child-actor roles was in "The Battle of Shaker Heights, the feature film made from Damon and Ben Affleck's "Project Greenlight" series for HBO — we jokingly asked him if the goofball Texas ranger LaBoeuf in "True Grit," bears any resemblance or relation to "Transformers" star LaBeouf (pronounced "La Buff").

"Not unless he's changing his pronunciation to 'Le Beef,' " Damon joked back. "I thought it was pronounced 'La Buff' when I first saw it, but the book is very clear it's pronounced 'Le Beef.' "

Fair enough. Speaking of LaBeouf (which really does mean "the beef" in French), we wondered if Damon feels responsible for any of the blockbuster success the star has achieved thus far in his career.

"I wish I could take responsibility for his career," Damon said of Shia, who actually got his start on the Disney Channel's "Even Stevens." "He's had a terrific career and he's a terrific actor. We thought that when we saw him on 'Project Greenlight.' We thought, 'Wow, who is this kid?' I'm very happy to see everything that's happened to him; he's a terrific guy."

Perhaps there is a Damon/LaBeouf project in the future? Or better yet, a LaBeouf/LaBoeuf "Funny or Die" video/parody?

Check out everything we've got on "True Grit."

On the heels of his performance alongside Eminem on "Saturday Night Live" this past weekend, Lil Wayne took to his blog WeezyThanxYou.com to express appreciation to his fans as well as offer a glimpse of a recent shoot he did for his upcoming Rolling Stone cover story.

"The shoot was in Miami two weeks ago, and just being able to do this type of stuff again is therapeutic," he wrote. "Be sure to pick up the issue when it hits stands. Thank you to the people at Rolling Stone for the opportunity."

The behind-the-scenes photo was taken by DJ Scoob Doo and shows Wayne standing shirtless in a photo studio with a pair of fluorescent sun glasses on, presumably looking at the Rolling Stone photographer's lens.

Wayne also thanked fans for supporting the first single from Tha Carter IV, "6 Foot 7 Foot." The song, which samples elements of Jamaican folk song "Day-O (The Banana Boat Song)," rocketed up the iTunes charts and landed at #1 in less than a week.

"Thank you for making '6 Foot 7 Foot' #1 on iTunes," he wrote, "you will continue to be #1 in my heart."

Wayne is just starting to reemerge in public after being released from prison in early November. His appearance on "SNL" was his first televised appearance since then. On the show, he performed Eminem's single "No Love," from Recovery. Em ceded the spotlight after performing "Won't Back Down," and Wayne went into an electric-guitar-laden take of "6 Foot 7 Foot."

Of the highly anticipated performance, DJ Scoob Doo said, "The energy in the building is historical, and it's extra special to see everybody fight for position backstage to see Lil Wayne take over 'SNL.' "

Leighton Meester Talks 'Country Strong' Twang Training

The 'Gossip Girl' star says she has a 'newfound appreciation' for country music after working on the film.

Although three of the four big names in "Country Strong" are not, in fact, country singers, they took their training very seriously in order to get in touch with their inner Southern twang. And not only that, when MTV News caught up with Leighton Meester recently — who plays beauty queen-turned-aspiring country artist Chiles Stanton in the flick — she revealed that the filmmakers made sure that each actor was set up with their own music producer in order to fully perfect their singing.

"I think it was really surprising how everything kind of came together," Meester said of her country-music training. "Each of us got our own producers to work with and mine [Nathan Chapman], he works very closely with Taylor Swift, which is sort of similar, in the same vein of the music that I'm making in the movie.

"[Chapman is] kind of like a teenage girl in a grown man's body. He's very good at reaching that young female idea, the music that I sing," she added. "He definitely helped a lot."

Meester went on to explain that shooting "Country Strong" helped her discover a new passion for Nashville and its music.

"Just being in Nashville and working there and meeting the most incredible musicians and producers and songwriters and singers, just being in that world was really cool," the "Gossip Girl" star said. "I have this newfound appreciation for that style of music."

As far as Meester's singing career goes, she said she hopes to go on tour herself one day, and promised that she's hard at work on her album.

"I don't know [when it will be released]," she said. "I recorded three songs recently. I have, like, 20 more to do,. So I don't know when that's going to happen. I just really want it to be perfect. I'm not in any rush. It's all in my heart, and I'm really happy how it's going. I've been very inspired, even with this movie, how I write."

Thanks to a recent stay overseas, Meester said she came back chock-full of potential material for the album.

"I was doing a movie in Budapest and Paris and was so lonely and writing all this music, and when I got back to the States, I got set up with this band," she said of teaming up with Check in the Dark. "And they're perfectly complementary to it and they understand, somehow, my girly emotional side."

After going through an emotional and very public split from her husband of 14 years in 2008, country star Shania Twain has found a happy ending to her heartache, in the most serendipitous of circumstances. On Monday (December 20), People reported that Twain is engaged to Swiss executive Frédéric Thiébaud — the ex-husband of the woman with whom Twain's ex, Robert "Mutt" Lange, allegedly had an affair in 2008.

"Her happiness certainly shone through," Twain's friend Stéphane Lagonico told the magazine recently of the happy couple, who have reportedly been engaged for two months. "They are a great addition to each other's lives."

Twain and Thiébaud's fairy-tale-esque, lemonade-from-lemons story reminded us of a few other formerly unhappy souls who have also found love again this year.

The biggest well-wishes go out to Jessica Simpson and fiancée Eric Johnson, a free agent NFL player who popped the question last month. After her very public split from ex-husband Nick Lachey five years ago, Simpson had a string of other high profile relationships with Tony Romo and John Mayer.

Coincidentally enough, congrats also go out to Romo and his new fiancée, TV reporter and former beauty pageant queen Candice Crawford, who became engaged December 16; and Lachey and Vanessa Minillo. Lachey proposed on November 4, just a week before Johnson and Simpson's engagement.

Last but not least, congrats to Dean Sheremet, who endured a very public split from wife LeAnn Rimes in 2009. Speculation surrounding the breakup focused on an alleged affair between Rimes and her co-star Eddie Cibrian, who have been dating since their respective splits. The happy news is that Sheremet has also found love again via photographer Sarah Silver, and they got engaged in November. There's hope for celebrity romance yet!

Eminem has had a big 2010, from being named MTV's Hottest MC in the Game to scoring a slew of Grammy nominations for his critically revered Recovery.

As a result, the iconic rapper announced on Monday (December 20) via his satellite radio station, Shade 45, that he would broadcast one of the Home and Home concerts he and Jay-Z played in Detroit earlier this year.

"As a special treat, for the listeners and the fans who missed the Home and Home concerts with me and Jay-Z, Shade 45 is gonna air my performance from the Detroit show this New Year's Eve at 8 p.m.," Em said.

The pair played four shows, two in each artist's hometown, Detroit and New York. The gigs, which featured a number of guest performers, went off without a hitch and were praised by fans and peers alike.

Dr. Dre credited the event with inspiring him to finally put the finishing touches on his long-awaited Detox project.

"Being on the stage with Eminem and Jay-Z was one of the most incredible feelings I've felt in a long time," Dre said in September. "It inspired me, it made me want to hurry up and get back in the studio and put more effort and more work into my own project."

"If you weren't there, this is what it sounded like," Em said, dryly, while joking with Shade 45 general manager Rob "Reef" Tewlow.

"It felt great, man," Eminem added about the experience. "It was crazy. The energy of the crowd. Just me being home, you know? I don't know, man — it's a good thing. Blessed."

2010 In 60 Seconds: Comebacks By Kanye, Eminem, Betty White And More

MTV News' pop-culture expert Jim Cantiello takes a look back at the year that was: all in a minute.
By James Montgomery

Photo: Jean Baptiste Lacroix/ WireImage

Well, 2010 is nearly in the books, and if you're a fan of octogenarians on the comeback trail, "California Gurls" gone wild and swoop-haired Canadian teenagers, congratulations on the best year of your life!

Yes, it was quite a ride ... Kanye West returned to top form, Eminem recaptured his old magic, Taylor Swift moved a million, Rihanna proved to be unstoppable, Katy Perry proved the doubters wrong and Ke$ha, well, she just proved to be Ke$ha. Lady Gaga dared to speak out, Weezy went away, and a host of new stars — everyone from Drake to Justin Bieber to Willow Smith — stepped up to the plate.

In pop culture, we were mesmerized by the exploits of everyone from Amber Portwood to Zac Efron, obsessed with the likes of Antoine Dobson and the "Pants on the Floor" guy, cheered on Betty White and vilified Mel Gibson (and probably Miley, too). We watched as our favorite couples went their separate ways, said goodbye to "Lost," "The Hills" and Jay Leno (whom we then said hello to all over again), and went absolutely crazy for the iPad. Oh, and everything in the universe was made in 3-D.

And all of that was just the tip of a rather sizeable iceberg. It's pretty difficult to sum up 2010 in any way, so let's just say it was the "most" year in recent memory. The most stars, the most scandals, the most use of the word "vuvuzela." There were more shake-ups, breakups and comebacks than we can even remember ... so it's a good thing we've got MTV News' pop culture expert Jim Cantiello to do it for us. Here's his look back on the year that was ... in 60 seconds, of course.

Ready? Go.

Akon, Jason Derulo Make 2010 The Year Of The Self-Referential Song

Posted: 19 Dec 2010 11:42 PM PST

Lady Gaga, Janet Jackson, Eminem also among the artists who have shouted out their own names in their tunes this year.
By Jocelyn Vena

Akon

This past weekend on "Saturday Night Live," Akon joined the Lonely Island guys in a hilarious video for a new song called "I Just Had Sex," in which the singer proudly sings his own name, as well as the group's.

Chelsea Handler, meanwhile also got self-referential at the VMAs, when she Auto-Tuned her way through a pre-taped bit with Best New Artist nominee Jason Derülo. And, to be fair, we here at MTV News have been obsessed with pop stars singing their own names in songs for the bulk of 2010, prompted by Derülo's epic use of the device in several of his hits.

Folks like Derülo, Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj ("Right Thru Me"), Kanye West ("Dark Fantasy") and, obviously, Akon join a list of two decades' worth of pop artists who have taken it upon themselves to brand their tracks with their own names. In the '80s, stars like Janet Jackson, Beastie Boys and New Kids on the Block proudly proclaimed who they were in their songs.

Moving into the '90s, "TRL" staples such as the Backstreet Boys, Jennifer Lopez, Kid Rock and Eminem all blasted their monikers on their tracks, letting fans know just who was singing or rapping through hits like Rock's "Bawitdaba" and BSB's "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)."

As the new millennium approached and the musical landscape became more and more flooded with pop stars, it became a regular practice, with everyone from Ciara to M.I.A. to Fergie to Beyoncé to Shakira giving shout-outs to themselves in their songs.

With this practice more common than ever in 2010, MTV News has approved the following rules for self-referential shout-outs. One, you get famous. Two, you brand yourself in song. Three, you put your name in the chorus, or in many cases at the very beginning of the tune. And, four, you name-drop like it's hot. Repeat offenders observing the final rule include Lady Gaga ("Just Dance," "Bad Romance"), Derülo ("Whatcha Say," "In My Head") and Akon, who most recently called out his own name and Michael Jackson's on "Hold My Hand."

What do you think of pop stars singing their own names? Who pulls it off and who doesn't? Tell us in the comments!

Online sneak peeks tease Ludacris-starring video: 'It's a little out there.'
By Jocelyn Vena

Enrique Iglesias is following up his 2010 hit "I Like It" with another sexy dance track, "Tonight." While this song's a bit more forward than his previous one — boasting the lyric, "Tonight, I'm f---ing you" — it is just as party-ready. And though the song may leave some listeners blushing, Iglesias says he wasn't trying to shock anyone.

"I was asked by a bunch of journalists, 'Was it a shock factor that you wanted to create?' And I honestly told them, it truly wasn't about that," he explained to MTV News. "I love the song. I loved the melody. I loved the beat. I thought it was unique. Look, how many adults go out at night or go to the club and that goes through their head, but they would never have the guts to say it?"

Regarding the song being a bit sexier than fans may be used to hearing from the singer, he laughed, replying, "I'm a little more religious, right?"

Iglesias joked that he got Ludacris on the track to displace some of the blame he might get from the song's raunchy content.

"I loved his work. I think he's one of those artists that every single feature I've heard of his, it's always a perfect 10. He's always dead on," Iglesias explained. "I played it for him, and I wanted to see what his reaction would be like, so when I played it for him he immediately called me back and was like, 'Man, I'm on this.' This is exactly what he said: 'This is my kind of sh--.' "

The guys will be teasing the "Tonight" video, set to debut in early 2011, with online sneak peeks. The video was shot over four days in Cabo, Mexico, and Los Angeles.

Iglesias explains that it's going to be "a little more cinematic, a little more of a long story. You get a little bit of acting on Luda's part. I was a little afraid: It's a tough song. What type of video do you make? What do you do?"

So what did they do? "It's stylized, and it's not so 'in your face,' " he explained. "I don't know how to explain it. When I saw the video, it didn't feel offensive. Although I saw the video and it's a little out there, but I loved it. It's almost like the guys' fantasy. That's what we wanted to create."

Luda is the only one doing the acting in the video, and Iglesias, who will be kicking off his 2011 live shows February 5 at Madison Square Garden, has a very good reason for that.

"I was there when he was shooting, but in this video, it wasn't about us being together in the video. I wanted to separate his part," he said. "But it was great, and I think he's one of those guys — he's so charismatic. I wanted to get a little bit of his acting skills in there because he's a great actor. I'm trying to be as laid-back as possible."

Over the weekend, Vince Vaughn and his wife, Kyla Weber, welcomed their first child into the world. The couple had a daughter, Locklyn Kyla Vaughn, on Saturday, People.com reports.

Little Locklyn was born in Chicago, the actor's hometown, weighing in at 7 pounds and measured 20 inches long, Vaughn's rep tells the website.

"Both of them couldn't be happier to welcome their sweet little girl into their family!" a family friend said of the new bundle of joy.

Last year, Vaughn opened up to People.com about fatherhood, saying, "It's the first time that I really want to have kids. I've been very fortunate in my career, and my life has been about that for so long that you get bored of it. You're ready for your life to be about other people and other things."

Vaughn and Weber, a Canadian real-estate agent, announced they were expecting a baby in July. The couple married in January of this year in Chicago with close friends and family in attendance.

Earlier this fall, Vaughn was caught up in a bit of controversy surrounding a gay joke he made in a trailer for the upcoming Ron Howard-directed relationship comedy, "The Dilemma," which was later removed. "The Dilemma," about a man (played by Vaughn) who learns that the wife (Winona Ryder) of his best friend (Kevin James) is having an affair with another guy (Channing Tatum), will be released on January 14. There has been no word on whether the joke will be removed from the final cut of the movie.

Sure Justin Bieber has some hip-hop swag, thanks to friendships with rappers like Diddy, Ludacris, Drake and Kanye West, but it seems that the pop superstar now is going a little bit country.

Rascal Flatts lead singer Gary LeVox made one big reveal recently when he spoke to country radio station WSIX, according to CNN. "[Justin] asked us to do a duet with him on his next record," LeVox explained. "It's actually a really good song! The kid is really talented. He plays five or six different instruments really well."

On Sunday, Bieber confirmed LeVox's statements on his Twitter while sending some praise the country band's way. "I love @RascalFlatts and Im honored that they are making music with me," he wrote. "And for those that dont know ... they have great records like this one. #GREATMUSIC." He then included a link to a Bieber fan video with the Rascal Flatts track "My Wish" playing in the background.

Bieber also tweeted on Sunday that he was hanging out with Lil Twist, who he has been collaborating with on a mixtape for some time now. "I don't know man," he recently shared with MTV News about their work together. "Lil Twist is my homey and we're working on stuff for fun."

The teen singer is indeed hard at work on new music. Last Tuesday, Bieber was spotted at Diddy's studio in New York City working on tracks for a forthcoming album. "I've missed the studio. Just making music," Bieber tweeted that day. "Made some great records tonight."

What do you think about Bieber possibly going country? Tell us in the comments.

NKOTBSB fans have a lot to look forward to in 2011. The guys have announced they'll be hitting the road for a tour, and now comes a little preview of a song the groups recorded together. On Monday (December 20), Perez Hilton posted a video of the Backstreet Boys debuting "Don't Turn Out the Lights" for fans during their cruise earlier this month.

"A song by NKOTBSB," AJ McLean told the room of screaming fans, with Brian Littrell by his side. "I'm gonna tell you guys, 'Don't turn out the lights now.' Press play."

The up-tempo jam features vocals from McLean, Littrell and Jordan Knight about still being in love with someone. The guys sing, "I know we haven't been getting along/ I don't want to say goodbye/ Memories come flooding back/ I love you like that/ We can get it back again/ Don't turn out the lights now."

After cutting off the song early, McLean explained, "We can't play the whole thing, just 'cause with the tour coming up. It's a sample."

Despite pressure from both McLean and Littrell, their lawyer refused to let them play the sample again. An official release date or other information about the track was not available.

Back in November, all nine members of NKOTBSB teased a possible collaboration of new material, and not just mash-ups, in an interview they gave shortly after .

"It's tough getting these guys in the studio, these young cats," Joey McIntyre shared. " Well, it's honestly, it is tough to get everybody together. Yes, we have lots of great intentions."

Lady Gaga topped Billboard and MTV News' lists as the lady of the year. MTV News gave some love to Kanye West as well, while Sandra Bullock topped People's list.

Now the Associated Press is getting in on the year-end honors, and it has named Betty White its Entertainer of the Year. White had quite a remarkable 2010, hosting "Saturday Night Live" and starring in a highly rated sitcom, "Hot in Cleveland." And she had everyone laughing at her awards-show appearances, which included a SAG win in January and an Emmy win in September.

"It's ridiculous," White said of the AP's honor. "They haven't caught on to me, and I hope they never do." In the past, entertainers including Taylor Swift, Tina Fey and Stephen Colbert have topped the list.

White beat out the cast of "Glee" by two votes, placing them at #2. Conan O'Brien, James Cameron and Apple's iPad all tied for #3. Jon Stewart came in after them. Ballots were cast by 102 representatives of the AP's U.S. news organization members. They voted on who had "the most influence on the entertainment world and culture" this year.

White gave "SNL" a ratings boost when she appeared on the show in May. In the days prior to her appearance, she revealed that she was looking forward to appearing on the show with Jay-Z. "I'm thrilled to meet him. I'm thrilled to hear he's going to be on the show because he's the hottest thing since sliced bread, but I certainly enjoy him. I hope we'll get along well," White said. "Yes, [I have listened to his music] ... I have no idea [if we'll work together]! But I'm game to try anything. This is an adventure!"

White also showed her signature sass when she joked that she had no hard feelings toward Sandra Bullock, who chose to kiss Scarlett Johansson and not her at the MTV Movie Awards in June. "No! To each his own!" she joked. "Anywhere you're near Sandra Bullock, you're in good shape!"

This fall the world has been entranced by Jake Gyllenhaal and Taylor Swift's romance, watching them canoodle their way through coffee shops and ice cream parlors. So when an Us Weekly report hit the Web indicating that Gwyneth Paltrow might have been the one to introduce them, USA Today made it its job to find out about the alleged November dinner party the Oscar winner hosted for the pair.

"Where is this coming from?" Paltrow asked the newspaper. "I've just known Jake for a long time and he's a great guy, and [husband Chris Martin] has a friendship with Taylor."

Paltrow, who's currently doing press for her role as a country singer in the film "Country Strong," added that she didn't want to say much else about it. "Well, I'm scared to say," she said. "It's so weird. I wonder how people find out these things. It was a while ago, so I don't know why it would come out today."

While Paltrow was tight-lipped, a source was eager to share all with Us. "Jake and Taylor were driven from the Dorchester Hotel to Gwyneth and Chris Martin's house in Primrose Hill for dinner. Gwyneth seems to have played a role in their relationship," the source said.

Neither Swift nor Gyllenhaal has said much about their relationship, but back in November, shortly after the couple was first spotted together, Swift said, "I'm always optimistic about love. Yes, always, sometimes."

Justin Timberlake Wants To Be An 'Actor,' Not A 'Movie Star'

Fans 'look at me like I'm ungrateful for my music career because I want to do film,' JT says.

Justin Timberlake keeps finding box-office success with roles in animated flicks like "Yogi Bear." And with so much buzz around his film "The Social Network," in which he plays Napster founder Sean Parker, you might think that Timberlake has left the world of music behind for Hollywood. But JT knows that you want him to put out more music.

"They're looking at me like, 'Why aren't you staying with one path?' " he told the Los Angeles Times, referring to his fans' response to his shift in careers. "They look at me like I'm ungrateful for my music career because I want to do film."

Timberlake explains that he always wanted to act, even before selling millions and millions of albums with 'NSYNC, and he admits that his fans were just as riled up when he left the boy band to embark on his hugely successful and now revered solo career.

"I faced the same feelings when I went solo," he explained. "I had the same obstacles in music. I still do. But I feel like I should pose the question to everyone else: If you had this opportunity, what would you do with it? Entertaining is in my blood. I make no bones about the fact that I have always wanted to work in the forum of film. I take this seriously. I'll be 30 in January, and I'm saying to myself, 'If I'm going to do this, I need to do it now.' "

What it boils down to for Timberlake is that he doesn't just want to be famous at whatever he does — he wants to do it and see what happens regardless of the fan response. "I don't know what a pop 'career' is. I just wanted to be in music," Timberlake said. "I don't necessarily crave to be a movie star. I just want to be an actor. I don't look at it as a career — I just feel lucky. That's not to say I'm going to take every opportunity that comes up. But now I have more chance to plot out a path."

Timberlake says that when the time is right and he can make it work for him again, he'll go back to recording music. "I want to conceptualize something a little bit more," he said. "And it's probably because of the experience I'm having working with directors and screenwriters and getting to play cool characters. If that means I come up with, like, my version of 'Ziggy Stardust,' so be it. Who knows? What I've learned from acting in movies, I want to apply to music and see what happens."

Lady Gaga Dishes On <i>Born This Way</i> During London Show

During her concert on Friday, the pop star said her upcoming album 'doesn't have a bunch of rock ballads,' confirmed that it will feature 'You and I.'

Throughout the year, Lady Gaga has not only talked up her forthcoming album, Born This Way, but she's also previewed a few new tracks that may or may not appear on the release. On songs like "You and I" and "Living on the Radio," Gaga strays from her usual dance-hit formula to explore a more Elton John-esque sound. However, during her recent Monster Ball Tour stop at London's O2 Arena on Friday, the pop star told the roaring audience that the project won't be full of too many piano-driven ballads.

After asking concertgoers if they wanted to hear a new song, Mother Monster said, "Want to hear 'You and I'? This one is going to be on Born This Way. It's one of my favorites. The album doesn't have a bunch of rock ballads or anything, but this is one of them."

Following her chit-chat with the audience, Gaga launched into tune, which finds the singer recalling a reunion with a lover.

"There's something, something about this place/ Something about lonely nights and my lipstick on your face/ Something, something about my cool Nebraska guy/ Yeah something about/ Baby you and I," she sang while pounding away on her piano.

In the midst of her "You and I" performance, the songbird took time to give herself props for the originality and creativity she puts into her material.

"Now I don't know if you know this, but for those of you who don't know, I write all my own music," she announced. "Every single lyric, melody and note was created by me. I am not manufactured. I'm a bad cat and coming for you 'cause I believe in you and I."

Later on in the song, she added, "It's not that I don't like to be humble, it's just that pop music has a pretty bad rap," before indulging in some of her usual impulsive piano antics.

Gaga's Little Monsters can expect to hear even more new tunes as early as February. Just a few weeks ago, she told fan site Lady-Gaga.net that the lead single from Born This Way will be released that month, while comparing the album to "bad kids going to church, having fun on a high level."

Is Former Paramore Drummer Zac Farro Back With A New Band?

On Saturday, Paramore shocked fans when they announced the departure of two of their founding bandmates, brothers Josh and Zac Farro.

In their statement, the group's remaining members wrote that "for the last year it hasn't seemed as if [the Farros] wanted to be around anymore," adding that "we want Josh and Zac to do something that makes them happy." Well on Monday (December 20), we might have gotten a sneak preview of just what will be making drummer Zac Farro happy in the near future: a brand-new musical project called Tunnel.

According to Alternative Press, Farro has teamed with fellow musician Jason Clark on the project, and the first song by the duo — a dreamy, gauzy track called "Hide Your Eyes" — can now be heard on their SoundCloud page.

There's still no official confirmation that the former Paramore drummer actually has anything to do with Tunnel. Aside from the track, the SoundCloud page contains only a black-and-white photo of two men (one of whom does look very much like Zac), and no contact information is listed. In addition, the demo for the song was posted 12 days ago, long before Paramore announced that the Farros were leaving the band.

It's also not clear whether guitarist Josh Farro is involved in the project, though "Hide Your Eyes" certainly sounds like older demos he had previously recorded.

A spokesperson for Paramore's labels, Atlantic/Fueled by Ramen, could not be reached for comment on the matter, and so far, no member of Paramore has weighed in on the project ... though, echoing a sentiment first expressed in their statement, frontwoman Hayley Williams did take to Twitter on Sunday to express, simply, "Paramore is (still) a band."

Do you think Zac Farro is involved in Tunnel, and what's your opinion of the project's new tune? Share your thoughts in the comments.
