Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber have been pals for a while, but rumors that the teen stars are more than friends ramped up when the pair were recently spotted getting pancakes arm-in-arm.

Despite the mild PDA, Gomez denied there were any romantic overtones to the outing, saying instead that the duo were just getting a quick bite eat while they both had some free time in Philadelphia.

"It was pancakes. Who doesn't like pancakes?" Gomez told MTV News at the Z100 Jingle Ball 2010 in New York Friday, where she and the Biebs both hit the stage. "We were both performing in the same place so we went and had pancakes together. That's all it is. All innocent."

In fact, Gomez has said the Canadian teen idol is more a brother and than a lover, explaining in February that she started looking out for Bieber as he started his journey toward superstardom.

"I love Justin. When he first started to come over from Canada his manager contacted me and he just said that he would like to meet me and he was just such a good kid," she explained. "And I feel like a big sister now, 'cause I want to protect him. So I'm always very cautious with him, but he is so talented and he's so sweet, so that just started us wanting to work together. Now he's just become one of my good friends."

Gomez is also rooting for her good friend at the 2011 Grammys where the pop sensation is up for two trophies, including Best New Artist. When asked who she thinks would take home the hardware between Bieber and fellow Canadian heartthrob Drake, Gomez put her money on the "Baby" crooner.

"I would have to say Bieber just because I know how hard he works," she told MTV News earlier this week. "I hope he wins, but I love Drake as well. It's a really hard category so I don't know who's going to win, but of course I have to say Bieber."

The cast of "Glee" won't be belting out any big numbers this weekend.

According to Entertainment Weekly, production Friday on the hit show was put on hold until Monday due to an outbreak of tonsillitis among its crooning castmembers. The crew was reportedly toiling away on a musical number slated to appear on an episode following the Super Bowl in February.

Although EW didn't specify which stars were ailing, Dianna Agron blogged about laid up in bed with an illness.

"Note to self...should have gotten a flu shot," she wrote Friday. "In bed, hoping that medicine, soup, my computer and a marathon of movies will be the cure."

The break will be brief, however, as the show is expected to resume production on Monday.

Details about the forthcoming Super Bowl episode have been trickling out recently. The "Glee" cast will reportedly take on Michael Jackson's game-changing smash "Thriller" and mash up the track with another soon-to-be-revealed hit. Jams from the Black Eyed Peas, Katy Perry and Lady Antebellum will also be revamped by the McKinley High kids.

A recent on-set snap of Lea Michele may also give another clue about the upcoming episode. Michele, who plays songbird Rachel Berry, was shot decked out in football gear earlier this week. In August Michele revealed her dream guest star for the Super Bowl episode: Justin Timberlake.

"I think they are saving Justin Timberlake for the Super Bowl episode," Michele told The Hollywood Reporter. "They have to be, because he is so perfect for our show. He has to be on it! When I met Jessica Biel, like a loser, I asked her to tell Justin to come on our show. [Laughs.] She was a little taken aback and said, 'Um, OK. I'll tell him.' "

Paramore Taking A Break In 2011 To Record New Album

Paramore are definitely wrapping up the decade on top with a year that included a slew of chart-ruling hits and a huge cross-country trek. So it's not surprising that when MTV News cornered Hayley Williams and Taylor York at the Z100 Jingle Ball red carpet on Friday, they couldn't stick to just one highlight of the year. Instead, they obliged us with a few of their major 2010 moments.

"[There's] been so many big ones," Williams said. "We got to play the VMAs, we went on the biggest US tour we've done to date, played two shows at the O2 arena in London. It's just been like, one thing after another. [It's like a] high climb, and I hope we get to keep climbing for a little bit longer."

York said that the crew doesn't have much lined up for last few remaining weeks of 2010, but revealed they plan to retreat from the spotlight in 2011 to tinker on an upcoming album.

"The year has kind of been topped. We don't have much more for the rest of this year. We're going on a tour in South America and then we're taking time off and we're writing for a new record," he said. Although a new project beckons, York admitted that moving on from the success of Brand New Eyes is a bit difficult. "We're kind of at the end of this record but it's bittersweet."

As Paramore heads off to craft their fourth LP, Williams said they plan to take the same time-tested approach to making new music that proved successful with their previous work. Although their "Twilight" soundtrack smash "Decode" was penned on the road, the frontwoman maintained they prefer to knock out a record at their home base in Tennessee.

"We wrote 'Decode' [while on tour] ... we didn't expect it and then everything happened with that one and so that was good. You never know," she conceded. "We like to do it at home mostly. We like to wait and kind of really focus on the records when we have time off."

It looks like Liam Neeson's globe-trotting efforts to pin down the correct feline sensibilities for his role in "Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" were not in vain. Neeson recently told MTV News that he traveled to Africa to observe real-life lions to help craft his portrayal of a CGI jungle monarch in the fantasy flick, and when the film hit theaters Friday it ruled the box office. The third installment in the series opened at the top spot, picking up $8.2 million.

Behind "Narnia" is another hotly anticipated debut: Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp's Europe-based caper "The Tourist." Even though Jolie's large brood teased her "funny" accent in the flick, the camera-friendly A-listers' thriller arrived in theaters in second place. The film, which also features Paul Bettany and Timothy Dalton, kicked off the weekend with $6.1 million.

The animated family-friendly flick "Tangled" continued to nab moviegoers at the box office. Disney's reimagining of the classic fairy tale "Rapunzel," which features the vocal talents of Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi, raked in $3.4 million at the box office. Friday's haul pushes the film's total estimated gross to $104 million.

"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1" added a few coins to its already stuffed bank on Friday, coming in fourth place. The latest flick in the blockbuster wizard saga pulled in $2.4 million, a figure which nudges the "Potter" tally to around $251 million.

"Unstoppable" still pumped along in theaters, coming in fifth place on Friday. Denzel Washington and Chris Pine's locomotive thriller rang up around $1.2 million in ticket receipts as it entered the weekend. The film's total estimated gross now stands at about $71 million.

Check out everything we've got on "Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of Dawn Treader," "The Tourist" and "Tangled."
