Audrina Patridge may have tackled the cha-cha on last week's "Dancing With the Stars," but now the former "Hills" star is ready to take things up a couple of notches when she hits the stage for this week's challenge: the quickstep.

"I'm taking in everything the judges told me, [and] I'm using that as motivation to become a better dancer," she told MTV News about her second week on the show. "We're going to start on the quickstep and push the limits."

Patridge and her "DWTS" partner, Tony Dovolani, think the judges will be impressed by their dance moves and the beauty of the dance. "It's really pretty," Patridge said. "Tony's shaving his legs for it!"

Last week, fans said goodbye to David Hasselhoff, but that still leaves quite a few celebrities as Patridge's competition. "I think everyone's really good. I know Brandy's very driven; she wants to win really bad. She's really good," she said. "Jennifer Grey is really good too. Rick Fox is good. Kyle [Massey] is hilarious. It's really not that competitive. Everyone's really supportive of each other. We bonded."

Patridge, however, isn't the only MTV star burning up the dance floor every week, but she said there's no beef between her and "Jersey Shore" star Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino. "I talked to Mike. He's a real sweet guy. Watching 'Jersey Shore,' that's not him at all," she shared. "He's so sweet and nice and funny."

While Patridge lives to dance another week, her main focus is making sure she gets the quickstep just right. "I'm feeling relieved and happy, and I can't wait to get back into the studio and start learning the quickstep," she said. "Tony showed me some of the steps last week. Now we're really going to work hard and focus on that dance only.

"It's very different than the cha-cha," she continued. "The quickstep is very fast. It's challenging in a different way."

Executive Decisions: Birdman

Last year, Birdman handed over a sachet with $1 million in cash to his son Lil Wayne for his birthday. But on Monday (September 27), Wayne's 28th birthday, the #1 Stunna can't celebrate with his loved one like he wants to. Wayne is still incarcerated on Rikers Island.

"It ain't kicked in," Baby told MTV News. "My family, I like to do things for him for his birthday, you hear me? This the first time we not gonna get a chance to do that. But he is putting a new album out called I Am Not a Human Being. We pop bottles for him while he's gone."

Wayne's album landed online Monday; 10 songs are being sold digitally, and on October 12, a physical copy of the album will land at retailers. That version has 13 tracks.

"When Wayne do what he do, he takes serious pride in his work," Birdman told us in Miami last week for the kickoff of Drake's Light Dreams and Nightmares Tour. "Nothing we do is half-stepping or half-cocked. I think it's a great album. To me, he's switching back. This album has no Vocoder; he's back to raw rap. He's just rapping how he's feeling. He's a genius, so the music is always gonna be great. He wanted to put I Am Not a Human Being out to show people he's always in the building. Every album we put out, we're going to do the most. We're gonna go for it. We're never gonna come half- cocked. You expect to see a lot, you gonna get a lot. It's a great album."

Wayne has exactly 39 days left on his sentence until he comes home November 4. Birdman said he'll most likely go see his family right away.

"That's my son. I love him. You always gonna miss a loved one. At the same time, we doing what we have to do," the Cash Money CEO said. "Work hard. We all excited he's about to come home. He's happy. He wanna get out that place. That ain't no place for him to be. Everybody is energized that he's coming home. He walked the little walk. That was a left turn in our life. We wasn't expecting nothing like that."

What happens when you've already gotten President Obama on your show in its first season? Well, you try to aim higher.

That's what the guys of "The Buried Life" did when they sought out the king and queen of the celebrity world, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Swift, for their second season, which kicks off Monday.

"We try and streak a major stadium and get away with it," Jonnie Penn explained to MTV News. "And the second episode is Duncan [Penn, Jonnie's brother] trying to ask out Taylor Swift."

So, what does Ms. Swift say? Well, the guys aren't dishing.

"You'll have to watch the episode to find out," Duncan said. "I can't tell you, but she does answer."

As if courting Swift wasn't enough of a challenge, the guys also managed to do the unthinkable and capture Robert Pattinson's essence.

"We got dared on our Facebook page," Jonnie recalled. "We asked them what they would dare us to do, because one of the list items is to accept a dare, and they said the world voted and that we should steal a lock of Robert Pattinson's hair."

The guys, always up for any challenge, went after the "Twilight" star.

"So, we went vampire hunting and did it," Duncan said. "I'm not telling [where the hair is]. It's in my pillow case."

Don't miss "The Buried Life" every Monday at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.

Katy Perry Lampoons 'Sesame Street' Flap On 'Saturday Night Live'

Singer pokes fun at drama playing a busty teen in 'Bronx Beat' sketch.

The 36th season of "Saturday Night Live" kicked off by spotlighting a bunch of familiar faces, introducing some new ones and, of course, putting a comic stamp on the latest pop-culture controversies.

The show's signature opening monologue, this time delivered by "Parks and Recreation" star and "SNL" alum Amy Poehler, featured a trippy dream sequence in which the comedienne stressed about pulling off a successful host stint. The sketch was packed with blasts from the show's past including Rachel Dratch, who gets hauled off by a polar bear, and ex-"Weekend Update" anchors Tina Fey and Jimmy Fallon who show up to bully Poehler. "The Social Network" star Justin Timberlake pops up at one point to plant a kiss on Poehler and then blab about her sub-par smooching skills.

Timberlake returns later to lampoon his recent Hollywood gigs in the sketch "Actor II Actor" with Andy Samberg, in which the funnyman bluntly asks the singer-turned-actor, "When you gonna make some more music?" Timberlake then flexed his acting chops by storming off in a faux rage.

The show's "Weekend Update" sketches also boasted highlights, including a dead-on impression of Will Smith by newcomer Jay Pharoah, replete with random shouts of "Woo!" as the comic touted the Smiths' talented brood.

Fred Armisen busted out his bumbling impersonation of embattled New York Governor David Paterson, ragging on upstate New York and dishing on current gubernatorial candidates, Andrew Cuomo and Carl Paladino. Then, the real Governor Paterson rolled behind the desk, taking jabs at Armisen's impression and critiquing him for still rocking a beard. "I shaved that off a year ago, are you blind?" the sight-challenged politician quipped, before comparing "SNL" to Albany, saying, "There's a lot of characters, it's funny for 10 minutes [but] then you just want it to go away."

Katy Perry didn't say much during her "SNL" cameo but she may have had one of the most memorable comedic turns of the night. The singer, who recently battled drama over a "Sesame Street" clip that was deemed too racy for the toddler set, bounded into a "Bronx Beat" sketch helmed by Poehler and fellow ex-castmember Maya Rudolph. Playing a bosomy teen named Maureen Dichico who's been causing a lot of "hullabaloo" at the local library due to her blossoming figure, Perry fielded exclamations from the chatty duo like, "Honey, you've exploded! Kaboom!" The pair addressed Perry's choice of attire — a low-cut t-shirt emblazoned with "Sesame Street" resident Elmo — with barbs like, "Look at Elmo, his head's all stretched out!" Later, the ladies quip "Who cares if kids are looking at boobs? Boobs feed babies," a wink at the controversy, which sparked whoops from the audience.

Perry also hit the stage throughout the show, first rocking her summer jam "California Gurls." Although she worked the Snoop Dogg-assisted smash solo, she made up for the Doggfather's absence by tricking out the set with lots of pretend sweets and mounds of fake cotton candy. Clutching a bling-laden mic and sporting a snug, bon-bon-studded minidress, Perry vamped it up as dancers in pink bra tops and bewigged singers grooved behind her.

She later returned for her single "Teenage Dream," this time opting for a sexed-up schoolgirl outfit with a sequined tie, tight blouse and tiny tartan skit. Perry began the performance with some a cappella belting and continued to display some powerhouse vocals as her back-up crew bobbed about in cheerleader and football-player outfits. As fog rolled across the stage and her band and dancers worked it in their campy high-school costumes, Perry ripped the final notes of the song and wrapped up the performance with a wink.

Kanye West's latest G.O.O.D. Friday track, "So Appalled," features some hard-hitting bars from a diverse ensemble of spitters, including Swizz Beatz and RZA. However, the lyrics of one MC in particular, Jay-Z, may have hit below the belt, according to another rap star.

MC Hammer has apparently taken issue with a line in which Hov references the much-publicized dissolution of the "U Can't Touch This" star's hefty fortune. "Hammer went broke so you know I'm more focused/I lost 30 mil' so I spent another 30/ 'Cause unlike Hammer 30 million can't hurt me," Jigga spits. After the track hit the Web, Hammer knocked out a series of missives on his Twitter account blasting the hip-hop heavyweight.

On Friday night, when a Twitter fan asked Hammer if he had any comment about Jay's rhyme, the rap star Hammer shot back with "The Answer to Jay comes on Oct 31 ( Devils Nite) ..I saw him coming." The rapper-turned-preacher hit up the track's architect the next morning, with "@ kanyewest jay-hoe aka #HellBoy Tell Jay Oct 31 (Devils Nite). We'll see if this record and video 'Hurt's Him.' " The "Too Legit To Quit" star also tweeted "You wanted my attention #HellBoy (Jigga) ..you got it," and attached a link to a 36-second video of himself pummeling a punching bag.

Hammer also taunted fans who were staunchly Team Hov.

"These lil demons and Imps stopping by timeline today ... Yes, I dissed yo #Daddy ... The dude who made the #Lucifer song ... smh," he typed, referencing Jay's The Black Album track. "Laughing at these grown men coming on my timeline with they #pompoms waving for #HellBoy (Jigga)."

Although Hammer relayed some hostile tweets, the Please Hammer, Don't Hurt 'Em rapper seemed to want to settle the drama in studio, reminding his Twitter followers that he was readying a response.

"I'm done until it's time ... Oct 31," Hammer wrote. "See, no need for such nastiness. I'm going back to the baggy pants that keeps you off guard. :)"

Lindsay Lohan 'Should Reach Out To Oprah,' Fans Say

Fans give MTV News a variety of ways the troubled starlet can make a comeback.
By Mawuse Ziegbe

Lindsay Lohan arrives at court Friday

Between the multiple jail and rehab stints, alcohol-monitoring devices and a dearth of high-profile onscreen roles, this year appears to have been especially trying for Lindsay Lohan.

On Friday, the actress was sent to jail for the second time in three months (she was released the same day) after she admitted to failing a court-ordered drug test. Lohan will reportedly don a SCRAM bracelet for the second time this year and is due to head back to court on October 22. Her legal drama has all but eclipsed her film career and many wonder if Lohan can still attract fans with her work as ably as she can hog headlines with her antics.

On Sunday (September 26), just days after her most recent jail stint, MTV News went to directly to the fans in New York's Times Square to ask how they think Lohan can revive her career.

"[She could make a comeback] if she actually would just learn from something and ... take something seriously, and not act like ... the world revolves around her and she has these special privileges that no one else has," Lauren Suitors said. She pointed out that many are able to overcome bad decisions after they've hit rock bottom. "Other people have gone to jail and they come out and they're just fine, but she just keeps making the same mistakes again."

"I really think that she probably needs to revamp herself and prove to everyone that she's capable of being a good actress and cleaning up her life, 'cause, as of now, she's kind of gone into a downward spiral," Jenny Phillips observed. Phillips said Lohan should head back to rehab and put in the work when it comes to a comeback because she is ultimately a talented star. "She's a legitimate actress when she's not all drugged up and stuff."

Sarah Leigh said Lohan's issues stem from her substance abuse problems, an observation the actress largely agrees with, and suggested a single step toward getting her act together: "Stop taking drugs!"

Evoking the "All publicity is good publicity" philosophy, Mel Dummett said that Lohan's high-profile high jinks will probably boost for enfeebled status as a box-office draw.

"I think this is actually going to revive her career 'cause she's been in the news," she said. "Any celebrity site you go to she's covering the whole thing."

Tramel Ulysses agrees that she should "keep doing what she do" and that, ultimately, everybody makes mistakes.

"I don't think she should be judged because everybody mess up, people do wrong things, people say they civilized but people also do bad things," Ulysses noted. "Everybody have their bad days."

Sebastian Moore said Lohan should look to a higher power to guide her through the drama.

"Just try to reach out to Oprah and let her solve everything," Moore said. "That's what I would do."

How do you think Lindsay Lohan can revive her career? Let us know in the comments!

The Box-Office Top Five

#1 "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" ($19 million)
#2 "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole" ($16.3 million)
#3 "The Town" ($16 million)
#4 "Easy A" ($11 million)
#5 "You Again" ($8.3 million)

Moviegoers didn't sleep on the long-awaited follow-up to the 1987 financial drama "Wall Street." Twenty-three years after banking villain Gordon Gekko first fascinated audiences, "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" took the box-office crown. Featuring Michael Douglas as fallen financial titan Gekko, Carey Mulligan as his estranged daughter Winnie and Shia LaBeouf as her fiancé, the sequel picked up $19 million during its debut weekend.

The animated, fantasy film Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole," about a crew of intrepid owls out to save the owl kingdoms from powerful foes, flew into second place. The adaptation from a children's book series, featuring voice-over contributions from Helen Mirren and Geoffrey Rush, raked in $16.3 million.

"The Town" maintained a top-five slot during its second weekend on screens. The Ben Affleck-helmed, cops-and-robbers flick is close behind "Ga'Hoole" with $16 million. The film's total estimated tally now stands at roughly $49 million.

Emma Stone, Penn Badgley and Amanda Bynes' high-school laugh-getter "Easy A" also maintained a solid second-week showing. Punching up well-worn, teen-friendly themes, such as rumor-mongering and social acceptance, the flick raked in $11 million. The weekend ticket sales bump the movie's total haul to nearly $33 million.

The rom-com "You Again" wrapped up its first weekend in theaters in fifth place. The film stars Kristin Bell as a PR professional faced with the prospect of her high-school enemy (played by Odette Yustman) becoming her sister-in-law. Hollywood vets Jamie Lee Curtis and Sigourney Weaver also turn in performances as soon-to-be-in-laws with their own strained past. The flick raked in $8.3 million.

Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong To Appear In 'American Idiot'

Rocker will make Broadway debut in play he co-authored.

Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has a major Broadway production, "American Idiot," on the legendary New York theater row but the rocker has never actually graced a Broadway stage — until now.

Armstrong will appear in the rock opera this week, from Tuesday until Sunday, at the St. James Theatre. The Green Day lead singer, who co-authored "Idiot," will play St. Jimmy; a role typically helmed by stage performer Tony Vincent, who will be on leave for a family matter.

In the days before the production opened in April, Armstrong explained to MTV News that when creating the band's hugely successful 2004 effort American Idiot, the trio sought to break the mold with their music but still retain some of the themes they've championed since their debut in the late '80s.

"Right around 2003, I think, as a band, we wanted to have a monumental moment. We wanted to make a concept album, we knew that," Armstrong said. "Politically, when we were writing it, American Idiot was trying to make sense out of a big mess. We were trying to find something to believe in. It's about people becoming lost and trying to find their way. And I think that's been going through our songs since 1988."

Even though "Idiot" was initially released as an LP, Armstrong said they always envisioned the project as a theater production.

"This album is our baby. To see it get put in the hands of other people, it's great," he said. "We've always thought that somehow there should be some sort of stage version, because that's what was going on in our heads."

Eminem Declares 'I'm Back!' With Roaring Epicenter Concert

Detroit MC puts on an energizing set, as Big Boi, DMX, House of Pain, Bush, KISS and more hit the stage on day 1 of eclectic California rock festival.

FONTANA, California - Detroit descended upon California as Eminem made a triumphant return to the West Coast at the Epicenter 2010 Festival on Saturday. Marshall Mathers performed just before fellow Motor City mavens KISS, and what the rapper lacked in pyro he more than made up in fanfare. Still one of the biggest-selling artists in the world, Epicenter was one of only a handful of concerts Em put on in 2010. Cali happily welcomed Eminem back, roaring, dancing and rapping their approval.

Epicenter's first of two days was marked by sweltering heat in the 100s and a handful of performers whose absence from the stage was even longer than Slim Shady's self-imposed hiatus. 1990s alt-rockers Bush, featuring frontman (and Gwen Stefani's husband) Gavin Rossdale, made the fest their first major show in nine years, while House of Pain made it their first in 12 years. Oft-troubled rapper DMX rapped for a VIP-only audience.

Sponsored by Los Angeles rock station KROQ, Epicenter is only in its second year and is the brainchild of the same veteran music-industry trio who put together Rock on the Range in the Midwest and Canada. Last year's lineup included Tool, Linkin Park and Alice in Chains. This year, Epicenter moved to the parking lot of the expansive Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, part of California's Inland Empire.

The first major player to hit the main stage was one half of the mega-selling progressive hip-hop duo Outkast. Big Boi emerged in the afternoon, after opening sets from Hollywood Undead-spinoff Deuce and keyboard-heavy L.A. trio Crash Kings. Big Boi's DJ complained about the heat nearly melting his vinyl, but the Atlanta MC smoothly mixed solo tracks into an otherwise Outkast-leaning set that included some freestyling.

Papa Roach may not sell as many records as they used to, but the band received a heroes' welcome the second they hit the stage. They've updated their look, too, trading the nu-metal garb for skinny jeans, hipster sneakers and longer hair, all of which suits them. They unleashed a dirtier, darker side than was apparent on their earliest hits, and frontman Jacoby Shadix was the consummate showman, leaving fans hanging on his every hand motion. "Last Resort" closed the set, sounding appropriately more raw and energized than the version on their major label debut.

Gavin Rossdale may have dabbled with the band Institute and a solo career, but at Epicenter, the singer/guitarist got back to Bush, performing the music that put him all over the radio in the '90s and touring with an opening act called No Doubt. Back then, Bush became one of the first bands to capitalize on the mainstream doors blown down by Nirvana. Bush hail from England, not Seattle, but grunge motifs are all over their numerous hits, many of which they played: among them "Machinehead," "Swallowed," "Everything Zen," "Glycerine" (which Rossdale belted out solo with an acoustic guitar) and a set-closing "Come Down."

The sun mercifully went down as the second stage prepared for hip-hop headliners House of Pain, who came on after Kinda Major, Smile Empty Soul, the Knux and Big B warmed up the crowd. It's been an eventful journey for rapper/singer Everlast, who began his career as a scrappy solo artist, found fame with House of Pain and their massive hit "Jump Around," before reinventing himself as a guitar-slinging country/rap troubadour after suffering a surprise heart attack.

Everlast had his guitar for most of the set as he led a full band (drums, bass, keys and a horn section!) flanked by Danny "Danny Boy" O'Connor. The pair rapped House of Pain songs like "Shamrocks and Shenanigans," "On Point," "Put Yer Head Out" and, of course, "Jump Around" over a variety of familiar songs, including the beats made famous by Dr. Dre's "The Next Episode" and Tupac's "California Love," all during a rousing and lively set that included a dedication to Gang Starr's late MC, Guru. There was also an appearance by members of their most recent project, La Coka Nostra.

Expectation was palpable for Eminem's first West Coast concert appearance this year. Video screens projected a message written as if it were taken from news headlines. The text spelled out the dark period in Eminem's career, when retirement seemed a possibility, before heralding his triumphant return. Looking healthy and ready for battle, Eminem was backed by huge production (including several clever, stylized videos that played throughout), a hype man, a band, and even D12 for a short medley. Like his September stadium shows with Jay-Z, Eminem kept the song selection diverse, drawing from newer material and classic tracks like "The Way I Am." The show kicked off with "Won't Back Down" and "3 a.m.," setting the tone for the rest of the performance.

"I'm back, man," he told the crowd early in the set. "You miss me? I missed y'all."

He led the crowd in a "Free Lil Wayne" chant as he launched into "No Love." Em asked the crowd if they had ever "had beef" with their parents just before "Cleaning Out My Closet." A "Big Proof Forever" message was displayed on the screen when the rest of his Detroit crew D12, including a shirtless Bizarre, flooded the stage for tracks like "Fight Music." Cell phones and lighters were raised high during the Aerosmith-sampling "Sing for the Moment." It was a long marathon of quality tracks during which Em proved to have as much stamina as ever, despite his lack of touring.

Sandwiched right between the night's biggest acts, DMX gave the tiny VIP tent something incredible to remember when he banged out hits like "Party Up in Here," as well as one new track. The Ruff Ryder looked to be in good health and grateful for the audience's enthusiasm. He made several references to his faith, thanking and praising God profusely.

What can you say about KISS that hasn't been said? The band closed the night with pyrotechnics and dependable spectacle. There's the makeup, the production, the costumes, the stunts, the constant marketing of everything from condoms to Dr. Pepper, sure, but you know what else? There's the songs! KISS, who have been together for close to 40 years, crafted a catalog at their height that includes lean, mean, muscular rock anthems like "God of Thunder," "Detroit Rock City" and the ubiquitous "Rock N' Roll All Night."

Founding members Ace Frehley and Peter Criss are both gone, but Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons still tear it up live for their KISS Army, and Epicenter was no exception. Drummer Eric Singer has of course been part of the KISS family for a longtime and Thommy Thayer does an admirable job of filling Space Ace's shoes, guitar effects and all.

Sunday (September 26), the second and last day of the outdoor festival, will feature Blink-182 in their only North American appearance this year, alongside Rise Against, Bad Religion, Against Me! and more.

Kristin Chenoweth, Jay Sean and Soulja Boy Open Up On 'When I Was 17'

Jay Sean has ruled the U.S. and the U.K. charts with super-smooth hits like "Down" and "Do You Remember." But back in the day, he was a scruffy teen with a look that would probably scare away many of his current fans.

"When I was 17, I thought I was the sh--, even though, I clearly wasn't," he said on the latest episode of "When I Was 17," which also featured Soulja Boy Tell'em and Tony Award-winning actress Kristin Chenoweth. "I looked very different. You could barely see my face because it was covered in hair."

And to hear Jay tell it, his hairy situation was almost out of control.

"My hair was long; I could tie a knot under my chin if I wanted," Jay said. "I had a huge beard. And I had a unibrow. Eyebrows would connect with the hair, which would connect with the beard."

But many teens put together extreme looks in high school. Kristin Chenoweth worked a style that could have landed her a place in the '80s pop girl group the Go-Go's. "When I was 17, I looked like Belinda Carlisle," the former cheerleader said. "I had her exact haircut. I wore big earrings. I wore a lace bow in my hair tied to the side at all times."

Chenoweth may have been kind of obsessed with one of the biggest pop stars of her day, but Soulja Boy kind of was one of the biggest pop stars out when he was 17. In fact, the rapper, who became an online and chart sensation with the smash "Crank That," got to attend the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards in Las Vegas as the guest of Kanye West.

"We were up in this huge super-suite with alcohol, everything," he recalled. "There were girls, all of that. But, they were telling me, since I was 17, I couldn't go to certain areas of the suite. I had to stay locked off in one part of the suite until the show. So I stayed in this one little room. But it was fresh, though, because they laid it out: They had video games and snacks."

"When I Was 17" airs Saturdays at 11 a.m. on MTV
