After spending less than a day in prison, Lindsay Lohan was released after posting $300,000 bail. Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department spokesman Steve Whitmore told The Associated Press that the actress left jail around 11:40 p.m. Friday night. Lohan was jailed Friday morning, a week after the actress admitted to failing a court-ordered drug test. Judge Elden Fox initially denied the troubled star bail and she was immediately taken into custody following her hearing. The move was reportedly designed to keep the actress in prison until her upcoming October 22 court date and reduce the chance of an early release due to overcrowding. However, Lohan's lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, later insisted her client was entitled to bail and a second judge, Patricia M. Schnegg, overturned Fox's ruling. Lohan is still due back in court next month. TMZ reports that Lohan is required to wear a SCRAM bracelet and avoid venues where alcohol is the "chief item of sale." Lohan is familiar with the alcohol-monitoring device as she was outfitted with a SCRAM bracelet in May, which reportedly went off at an MTV Movie Awards afterparty. After serving 13 days of a 90-day jail sentence and 23 days of court-ordered rehab, Lohan recently conceded that she was still grappling with her addiction issues. "Regrettably, I did in fact fail my most recent drug test and if I am asked, I am prepared to appear before judge Fox next week as a result," Lohan tweeted a week ago. "Substance abuse is a disease, which unfortunately doesn't go away over night. I am working hard to overcome it and am taking positive steps forward every day. I am testing every single day and doing what I must do to prevent any mishaps in the future. ... Season-nine "American Idol" runner-up Crystal Bowersox is heading down the aisle. The singer's rep confirmed to People that she's set to swap vows with her musician beau Brian Walker in October. The impending nuptials come just months after Bowersox broke up with her longtime boyfriend Tony Kusian in the hours before her final "American Idol" performance. The singer explained that her bourgeoning fame wedged the couple apart. Both agreed that Kusian, who helped raise her toddler son, would prefer a low-key lifestyle. "He's a small-town guy and that's fine," she told "Idol" host Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM radio program. "I'm a small-town girl, but I want this. I want this more than anything — this career, this lifestyle. I didn't think he was up for it. He didn't think he was up for it." In addition to her upcoming wedding, Bowersox has been working on her major-label debut on 19 Recordings Limited and Jive. The earthy singer inked a contract within a day of the season-nine "Idol" finale but she has recently voiced her issues with her mainstream deal. "Just frustrated with the politics of the industry. Not just jive just dissapointing how the industry has changed," Bowersox tweeted on Thursday. "Every1s hands are tied." However, she didn't appear to let the music industry politics get her down, later adding, "regardless, im having the time of my life," before revealing she was recording "Farmer's Daughter." "Thanks for all of the support, guys," Bowersox wrote to her Twitter followers. "I have more freedom than most signed artists, so imma stop complaining. I love what I do. I am blessed." Professional prankster Johnny Knoxville has reportedly tied the knot. According to UsMagazine.com the "Jackass 3-D" star wed his longtime girlfriend, Naomi Nelson, on Friday. Life & Style reports that Knoxville popped the question to Nelson just days ago, with a 2.5-carat engagement ring from Los Angeles' Platt Boutique Jewelry. The nuptials follow the arrival of the couple's first child together. Knoxville and Nelson welcomed son Rocko Akira Clapp last December. Knoxville, whose real name is Phillip John Clapp, also has a teenage daughter, Madison, from his marriage to ex Melanie Clapp. Despite his career of pulling off outrageous stunts, Knoxville and new wife have mostly maintained a low profile, and the actor has said Nelson keeps him calm. "I'm lucky enough to be with someone, and I am happy," he told Knoxville.com. "I feel very lucky. I'm not out running around all the time. I don't party as much as I used to. I'm not partying constantly and constantly battling myself. I'm with someone, and we are very, very happy." Knoxville's next move is decidedly more outlandish than making it legal with his ladyfriend. The actor appears in the latest installment of the prank-packed hit series, "Jackass 3-D," which lands in theaters on October 15. Even though he and "Jackass" pals like Steve-O and Bam Margera have been staging elaborate shenanigans for years, Knoxville revealed they still shot tons of footage for the upcoming flick. "Man, we filmed so much stuff. So much great stuff got left out of the film because we just overshot," Knoxville told MTV News earlier this month. He explained the cutting-room bits will be available on a DVD set to hit shelves by the holiday season. "That'll be in '[Jackass] 3.5,' coming out at Christmas." The Box-Office Top Five #1 "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" ($7 million) Proving money still talks — at least, to moviegoers — "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" took the top spot at the Friday box office. Michael Douglas' return as Gordon Gekko, 23 years after he powered the cautionary money, power and success tale of the original "Wall Street," rang up $7 million in ticket sales. Another cash-grabbing flick, "The Town," also scored big with audiences, landing in the second-place slot. The film, which follows vault looters (Ben Affleck), ladies (Blake Lively and Rebecca Hall) and the law (Jon Hamm) as they get caught up in the nefarious Boston bank-robbing underworld, made $5 million. The haul brings the movie's total estimated tally to just over $38 million since its debut last Friday. The Friday top five wasn't all about money grubbing and shady ethics. The animated feature "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole" debuted in third place. Adapted from the children's book series by author Kathryn Lasky, and boasting voice-over performances from Helen Mirren and Geoffrey Rush, the kid-friendly fantasy flick raked in an estimated $4.6 million. The high-school comedy "Easy A" continued to turn in good marks at the box office. Featuring a cast of young Hollywood names, including Emma Stone, Penn Badgley and Amanda Bynes, the flick pulled in $3.6 million during its second Friday on screens. Rounding out the top five with a tale of post-high school awkwardness is "You Again." Audiences plunked down $2.8 million to catch Kristen Bell's turn as a successful PR professional grappling with the fact that her brother's fiancé is her onetime schoolyard nemesis. Flying around the world, hanging with rich and powerful stars and getting paid gobs of cash to crank out hit records probably sounds like a glamorous and cushy gig. But take it from Ludacris, aspiring hitmakers can't play around if they want to make their mark in the music game. The ATL star recently gave MTV News the low-down on how to hit high notes both on and off the charts.
"Education is extremely important, especially in my business, the music business," Luda insisted at a Get Schooled event on Friday, where Keri Hilson and MTV News' Sway also schooled attendees on the value of education. "You hear a lot of the times that the music business is 90 percent business [and] 10 percent music. If you don't have the right education and you don't educate yourself, then you're not gonna last in my business." The advice may be hard to hear for budding entertainers who want to simply belt some tunes or bust some moves to achieve to musical greatness. However, Luda maintained his tough words are just about tough love, as he's aiming to empower other people with the chance to realize their dreams. "I'm here today 'cause I'm one of those individuals that I dream my painting and then I paint my dream and I want to make sure I carry on that message to everybody," Luda explained. "If I have the time to invest and make sure I give back — I have my own foundation — and I just love when a lot of different people come together for a positive energy 'cause there's so many negative things going on out there. Kanye West's forthcoming joint release with Jay-Z won't just feature the two hip-hop heavyweights trading bars. The album is shaping up to be collaborative effort that ropes in a slew of rap voices from underground icons to chart-topping kingpins. West took to his Twitter account on Saturday (September 25) to reveal that beatmaster Pete Rock and A Tribe Called Quest frontman Q-Tip have jumped on the project. "We got new Pete Rock Joints on the Watch the Thrown album... Q Tip joints..." West tweeted. He added that the album is also set to include a musical offering from prolific, crate-digging luminary Madlib. "We bout to spit on this Madlib beat." The Jigga/'Ye album is part of the hip-hop superstar's newly launched campaign to get fresh music to the fans. After announcing in August that he plans to release a spankin' new track every Friday until Christmas, West tweeted on the first day of his G.O.O.D. Friday initiative that he's hooking up with Hov for a five-track album. The Jay-Z/Nicki Minaj/Rick Ross/Bon Iver collabo "Monster" is slated to appear on the record. The Jay-Z joint album details also come a day after Yeezy unleashed another Hov-assisted cut, "So Appalled." West dished that the newly released G.O.O.D. Friday track, which also features Pusha T, Swizz Beatz, Cyhi the Prynce and RZA, is the weekly joint he's feeling the most. "Ok So Appalled might be my personal favorite Good Friday song so far... It's just my favorite style of hip hop done very modern," West tweeted of the string-laden track, which includes the various MCs hollers of "f---in' ridiculous ridiculous." "Just Swizz's voice over the cello's is haunting," adding that he may revisit the track and "do another version where I bring that part in right after Pusha's verse also."
