Over the last few years, Akon had the opportunity to work closely with Michael Jackson. The duo recorded many tracks together for possible future Jackson releases. Akon relished working with the superstar, and the one thing that really stuck with him is the fact that Jackson was never satisfied; he was a perfectionist.

"A lot of our memories in the studio is a lot about work, because he was so focused on trying to get the right material out that we didn't really play around," the producer told MTV News. "Like, we talked, but we rarely joked, because at that moment, regardless of what we were doing it's like, 'Lets get serious and really do what we came here to do.' "

What the guys were there to do was concoct another memorable Jackson song — and the two really vibed while collaborating. "It was all about the melody, 'cause we both were melody guys," he explained. "Everything started with the melody. We both would hum the melody and try to create the biz around it."

But despite that common bond, the guys had disagreements over when a track was ready for public consumption. Jackson, being the consummate perfectionist, was almost never ready to release songs, even when Akon knew they had a smash hit on their hands.

"He was never satisfied. Like, we might have passed up ideas that I know for a fact were smashes. He'd be like, 'Nah, nah — we got to come up with something better,' " Akon explained. "We can never do better 'cause his expectation was so high. It was almost to a point where we would have to get a record and I would believe in it and just put it out, 'cause it would never come out 'cause he always believed we could do better."

It seems like a match made in party heaven — 3OH!3 having Katy Perry jump on the remix of their track "Starstrukk." The band's former tourmate and superstar pal even made a cameo in the video, all dolled up in a skimpy leopard-print dress, which is sure to capture fans' attention.

"Katy did this 'cause we had, like, a million dollars," 3OH!3 frontman Sean Foreman joked to MTV News. "No, Katy did this because we toured with Katy, we are good friends with Katy and we worked on the song together — we worked on the remix together. She came in and did the vocals and it's a great song."

The track will be featured on the upcoming Kristen Bell and Josh Duhamel rom-com, "When In Rome," and makes its big video premiere Monday (October 26). So in honor of the film's title locale, the trio made sure the video included a fountain like the ones that can be found in the Italian city.

Perry also chatted with MTV News on the video's set and gave the real backstory of how she worked with the guys on the dance track. "I came in on the song after they had finished, and they said, 'Katy, just come in and do, like, 16 bars,' and I was like, 'Yeah, whatever. It's nothing,' " she joked about her contribution to the song. "And I just went in and blew in the studio like that."

Perry's happy that the guys are on their way to joining Perry in the pop stratosphere. "I had been on Warped Tour with the 3OH!3 guys and we had had a lot of fun times. We have come up together ... and it's nice to be around them when they're exploding — like in a musical sense, not in the other explosion sense," she joked. "But it's really fun. It's going to be a fun music video."

On a recent episode of "Gossip Girl," Chuck Bass kissed a boy, but that's not the only provocative story line set to take place this season. There's still that much talked-about threesome. In her usual sassy way, Michelle Trachtenberg revealed, well, that she can't actually reveal anything about what will happen when it all goes down.

"Ah, yeah, it's me, myself and I, and we get busy," Georgina Sparks herself joked to MTV News. "It's going to be, like, in split screens. So it's going to be like Michelle, Michelle, Michelle, like, 'What body part is that?' But it's all mine."

All joking aside, she went on to divulge that the scene would be "worth waiting for," and pondered the setup: "I would imagine it's going to involve at least one boy and one girl, so..."

Even though she wasn't able to leak any spoilers, Trachtenberg was willing to fess up about who she'd like to see get busy. "Um, all of them! You can't possibly make me pick!" she said. "We'll go with Blake [Lively] and Leighton [Meester]. It would be a crazy lady threesome. It's not going to happen. I'm just messing with you. ... It's actually going to be, like, a tensome."

Trachtenberg also gushed about the news that Lady Gaga will be making a cameo in a future episode. Unfortunately, all the actress could share about the appearance was that she missed it.

"She performed on the show, so that's pretty fantastic 'cause I'm a huge Gaga fan. I was not there. ... I missed out on Gaga," she said, adding that she doesn't know when the singer's episode will air. "I just don't know things like [airdates]. We just show up and hope we look somewhat glowy."
