The O.D.: A Mixtape Daily Exclusive

Hail to the Chef. Raekwon will debut in SoundScan's top five with his classic Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II. Rae popped up at the VMA Radio Forum over the weekend, and we had the opportunity to ask him about a longstanding rumor that at one time, Diddy wanted to sign him and Ghostface Killah to Bad Boy.

"I heard that too," Rae said. "We did a show at the Palladium [years back], and Puff had security with him that was from Staten Island. When we got back to Staten Island, we bump into the kid, and he told us while he was up there performing, Puff said, 'I need them two. What I gotta do?' He was excited about working with us [and] signing us too. I don't know why it ain't happen, either. You never know. Maybe he may want to do that now. I'm independent, baby. So let's get it right. Let's cut them checks, Puff. We know what time it is!"

The Wu-Tang/ Diddy/ Bad Boy connection has spawned a lot of hits from "The What" to the remixes of "All I Need" and "Special Delivery." Diddy and Rae did hook up last week for the album-release party for Cuban Linx II. Diddy hosted the party at Manhattan's Santos Party House.

"One day I'm in the car, I'm just driving," he said. "I get a call from Puff out of the blue. He's like, 'Yo, I wanna congratulate you on your album.' That's what's up. One thing led to another, and I told him about the party. He said, 'If I'm in town, I'm coming through.' I said, 'Would you like to come through and host?' Because you know what kinda dude Diddy is. He's like our Sammy Davis Jr. He's done so much on all levels, [so] I just asked. What's wrong with asking? He was like, 'I'mma check my schedule, and if it permits for it to happen, I'm there for you.' Next thing you know, he called me 48 hours later: 'It's on. I'm with you.' "

The Streets Is Talking: News & Notes From The Underground

Wonder if he works for Time Warner or Direct TV? Fabolous pulled a Jim Carrey and plays the Cable Guy on Ghostface Killah's new record "The Guest House" from Ghostdini: The Wizard of Poetry in Emerald City.

On the song, Ghost is frantic when his girl turns up missing. He calls around and then goes searching. He goes to the guest house on his estate and finds the lady with Fabolous as he's laying cable. Verbal jousting ensues between Fab's and Ghostface's characters.

"I was the cable guy in there," Fab explained. "I happened to come up on Ghostface's girl. Ghost reached out to me and said, 'I got this dope joint I wanna get you on.' It's kinda like, you know, how R. Kelly used to have those story joints with Mr. Biggs. I was like 'OK, cool.' As long as the joint sounds dope, which I can only expect from Ghost, and it came through. It was good."

It looks like you'll be thanking Drake sooner than later. On Tuesday, Drizzy called in to Big Tigger's Washington, D.C., radio show and said he's hoping to release his highly anticipated debut Thank Me Later at the top of 2010.

"The storm is brewing," Drake said. "The ominous clouds are starting to form. It's about to be a problem. I don't know, I'm hoping February. That'll be a nice release month. It's gonna follow the same formula as the mixtape. It's gonna be a step up. That's my goal. It's gonna be very dark and sexy and all the things I like to embody in my music. You're gonna hear me rapping about my life."

Drake told MTV News in previous interviews that he wants collaborations with Jay-Z, Kanye West and Lil Wayne on his debut.

"His creative process is so unfair," Drake said of his mentor Wayne during an interview with MTV News at Young Money Presents: The America's Most Wanted Music Festival. "I'll work so hard to get a hot verse on a song with Wayne. All he'll do is traipse around the studio, like, 'I'm ready,' and kill me or match it.

"Whatever is going on in his head is not human and it is not fair," the 22 year-old jokingly added. "I'm angry about it."

Drake released an EP of his So Far Gone mixtape on Tuesday, featuring the new track "Fear." Drake also told Big Tigger that he's at home resting and recuperating from recent knee surgery and isn't too mobile yet.

Jay-Z's 'So Ambitious' Is 'Ferocious,' Pharrell Williams Says

'I wanted to make sure that kids heard this record and felt inspired,' rapper/producer says.

Although Jay-Z likes kicking back and celebrating the good things in life, on The Blueprint 3, Hov isn't always happy.

The Neptunes' Pharrell Williams said he and the legendary rapper wanted to speak to kids on their collaboration "So Ambitious." The standout number targets adults who attempt to limit the dreams of young'uns. As a result, their deliveries are tinged with an edge, because the duo drew from experience.

"We wanted to make a record that speaks to kids. There's a couple of lewd words there, but I wanted to make sure that kids heard this record and felt inspired," Williams told MTV News. "That's why there's a little bit of anger to it. There's anger in his verses, there's anger in my chorus. That's why I say spiteful things at the top [of the record]. There's anger there, because there's heat. Because you're young and people are telling you what you can and can't do. Unacceptable."

The two have made their fair share of hits in the past, from "Frontin' " to "I Just Wanna Love U (Give It 2 Me)," but the super-producer said this was the first time they've done a track where they didn't work on it in the studio; "So Ambitious" was completed while they were in different locations.

"We did it all by phone," Williams said. "One-hundred percent. Phone and e-mail. I've never done that before in my life. I just sent him the joint, 'cause he beat me up for the whole album. He was just kinda like, 'I need something to really tell a story.' And I was like, 'OK.' And I sent him this track. I said, 'I'm sending you clouds with 808s [drums] under it.' There's just clouds, and it's expansive. You can just speak. It's a blank canvas. Then I sent him the hook and played it for him, and he lost his mind."

Williams said the song was made the day Jay-Z was mastering his album, and he believes the rapper held off on completing his album until he finished the song. The result, according to Williams, is another classic.

"[Just] the attack on it," he said of the song. "Ferocious."

'Bones' Star David Boreanaz Hints At Zooey Deschanel Guest Spot

'That'd be great!' he says of Zooey joining him and sister Emily Deschanel on the hit Fox show.

David Boreanaz is back for another season of "Bones" and has heard rumblings that a second Deschanel may be joining him and his co-star Emily on the show.

"I heard! That'd be great! As many Deschanels as we can," he told MTV News. "[Emily's] dad directed an episode too. I think there would be some great, great moments to be had [if Zooey came on]. It was great to see that father/daughter connection. It would be great to see two sisters. Maybe Booth comes in between the two characters? Maybe Booth and Deschanel #2."

Last season left off with Booth (Boreanaz) coping with a brain tumor and Brennan (Emily Deschanel) trying to decide if she wants to have a baby with him — just as friends, but also because the pair are obviously in love with one another. Boreanaz promises that fans will get a lot more of them trying to figure out their relationship this season, all while solving gory crimes.

"Booth has to have something to fall back on," he explained about the possibility of his character using his brain tumor as an excuse to get out of any potential relationship with her. But what happens if she's the one who doesn't want to have the relationship?

Boreanaz doesn't exactly like that idea. "Well, then we have a problem," he joked. "I mean, I'm sure that we'll figure that out as we go and solve crimes. That's what we do — we solve crimes and we talk about those issues, and in doing so we find out about each other and we find out about what drives us crazy, what keeps us together. That's the fun of the show."

And this season Boreanaz will be back in the director's chair for the show's 100th episode, which he says will reveal more of the duo's backstory. "The show pretty much revolves around their relationship before they met, which they didn't like each other at all. They hated each other," he said. "We'll show that. We'll go back in time. It'll be fun, right?"

What may be fun for fans of "Bones" and "Fringe" is the fact that the two shows are now paired up back-to-back on Thursdays on Fox. "It's good to be paired with two shows that have an interesting combination of characters," he said. "You can't really categorize 'Bones' — it's tough. 'Fringe' is a tad bit more darker. We like to think of ourselves as dark comedy."

The year may not be over yet, but People is already naming its Best and Worst Dressed celebrities of 2009. Michelle Obama, Taylor Swift, Beyoncé and Vanessa Hudgens are among the women receiving kudos for their various contributions to the world of style.

Actress Kate Winslet is named the Best Red Carpet celeb. Reese Witherspoon earned the title of Best Short Dresses, while Cameron Diaz got Best Jeans, and the first lady received Best Accessible Glamour.

Hudgens is celebrated as Best Hippie Chic, and Swift, as evidenced by her fantastic VMA gown, is recognized for Best Sparkle.

Other ladies on top are "Slumdog Millionaire" star Freida Pinto for Best Use of Color; Nicole Richie, who gave birth to her second child earlier this month, for Best Maternity; Beyoncé for Best Street Chic and Kim Kardashian for Best Bikinis. Predictably, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga are named the year's best fashion rebels.

"I'm inspired by '70s glam, decadence, skyscrapers, Madonna," Gaga told People, a statement she proved time and again at Sunday's VMAs.

Robert Pattinson, Brad Pitt and Bradley Cooper are among the guys noted for their dashing sense of style.

Of course, we're almost more curious about the fashion failures noted in the special double issue, which hits newsstands on Friday. Paula Abdul and Renée Zellweger made the Worst Dressed list for picking the wrong dresses to walk the red carpet in. "The Hills" star Heidi Montag is called out for her cut-out Herve Leger dress, which was also worn by Kristin Cavallari and Heather Graham. And, of course, Jessica Simpson and her infamous mom jeans are among the year's Most Memorable Style Moments.

Twitter Traffic Triples During Video Music Awards

While show was live, 1.3 Million tweets referenced the VMAs.

Because the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards were the first of the Twitter era, MTV had to take a unique approach to the micro-blogging service during the broadcast.

Video blogger Justine Ezarik — known to the Internet world as iJustine — came onboard to be our Twitter correspondent, and with the help of some fresh technology, she was able to track and respond to the Twitter trends in real time. Once the show wrapped, the Tweet Tracker was made available on the VMA Web site so fans could see for themselves exactly what was popping when.

The experiment paid off, as 1.3 million VMA-related tweets were unleashed between the time the show started and when it wrapped Sunday night. By Monday morning, the number had ballooned to 2 million. The numbers were unprecedented for Twitter. "During the VMAs, Twitter experienced three times our average volume of tweets," Twitter's Chloe Sladden said. "[It was] twice as many as during the news surrounding Michael Jackson this past summer."

Twitter became a huge part of the show, as the tweet volume was both instantaneous and gigantic, but the service also allowed stars — many of whom were actually inside Radio City Music Hall — to shape the narrative of the evening. So when Kanye West bum-rushed Taylor Swift's acceptance speech, Katy Perry, Pink and Paramore's Hayley Williams (among others) were able to weigh in instantly.

The whole Twitter-centric approach made the VMAs compelling television not only from a performance approach, but also from an interactive one. "The unique level of viewer engagement MTV was able to inspire during the VMAs was impressive," Sladden added. "We think Twitter can be the way television becomes more interactive, and MTV is showing us the way."

The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards might have wrapped, but the party is far from over. Stay tuned for behind-the-scenes updates, party reports and much more.

Alicia Keys Talks Lil Mama, Kanye West VMA Stage Invasions

Lil Mama said she realized Jay-Z wasn't feeling her stage crashing at this year's MTV Video Music Awards. Well, guess who else wasn't feeling that stage invasion? Alicia Keys. Keys appeared on the "Today" show on Wednesday (September 16), and when hosts Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb asked about Mama, Keys initially declined to comment.

"I'd rather not speak about it," she said. "The performance was so phenomenal, it doesn't matter about anything else."

However, later in the interview the hosting duo coaxed a comment from Keys.

"We can appreciate her being overwhelmed and inspired," Keys said, "but we would have appreciated it if she would have did it from her seat."

But Keys had more positive things to say about the show-closing performance of "Empire State of Mind."

"It's phenomenal. Jay-Z and I both are native New Yorkers," the singer explained. "It's a classic New York song — new Frank Sinatra, Liza Minnelli. I don't know, it's a beautiful New York song, I love it. It's great to perform in New York and the VMAs were in L.A., now it's back and it's great to perform. The whole room was crazy."

The "Today" show hosts also asked Keys' opinions on Kanye West's upstaging of Taylor Swift.

"I think that obviously he knew that wasn't in the best taste, in retrospect, and I think he realized that wasn't quite the right thing to do," she offered.

The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards might have wrapped, but the party is far from over. Stay tuned for behind-the-scenes updates, party reports and much more.

Megan Fox's Revealing Rolling Stone Cover Shoot, Behind The Scenes

The October issue of Rolling Stone features "Jennifer's Body" star Megan Fox on the cover showing off a black leotard with leather trim and a skin-revealing mesh column running from her neckline to her belly button. The 23-year-old starlet looks like a femme fatale ready for a day at the beach.

It was just one outfit in renowned photographer Mark Seliger's shoot that had Fox rocking a vintage bustier, perilously high heels and, while frying up some bacon, a pair of butt-hugging jean shorts. In behind-the-scenes footage from the shoot obtained by MTV News, Fox poses outside in front of a white backdrop, lounges on a chair while flipping through some records and splays out on a cream-color rug.

Skin wasn't the only thing Fox revealed for Rolling Stone. In a candid interview, the actress spoke about sleeping naked, spooning with her off-and-on boyfriend Brian Austin Green and how her "ridiculously bad temper" has led her to threaten to kill the former "90210" star.

"I've had to say to Brian, 'You have to go and stop talking to me, because I'm going to kill you. I'm going to stab you with something. Please leave,' " she said. "I'd never own a gun for that reason. I wouldn't shoot to kill. But I would shoot him in the leg, for sure."

Confessing to being a serial monogamist, Fox said Green is actually only the second boyfriend she's ever had. "I can never have sex with someone that I don't love, ever, ever, ever," she said. "The idea makes me sick. I've never even come close to having a one-night stand. I'd be terrified. I wouldn't enjoy anything about it. I'm not sexually promiscuous. I've only been single for the seven-month period between my first boyfriend and the one I have now."

Though she continues to make frank statements about her personal life, Fox maintains that she's tired of having everything she says "sensationalized" and is constantly afraid that she's being made fun of by the media.

"I have a sick feeling of being mocked all the time," Fox confessed. "I have a lot of self-loathing."

Willie Taylor of Day26 is the latest celebrity to have nude photos of himself leaked to the Web. On Wednesday (September 16), photos of Taylor popped up on the gossip Web sites.

Taylor sent out a statement saying that the pictures were private and meant solely for his spouse's viewing.

"It has been brought to my attention that private and personal photos of mine are currently circulating the web," Taylor said in the statement. "As a man that is barely home with his family, my wife and I share some intimate moments the best way that we can. It is incredibly disturbing that someone with bad intentions would illegally hack into my e-mail account and distribute these private moments to the world. I ask that everyone respect the privacy of my family. Also, I offer my sincere apologies to my fans."

Taylor's relationship with his wife and son and the toll his busy schedule takes on them was a subject of an episode of "Making the Band" last season. Taylor and his group are back in the lab working on a new LP.

Last month, MTV News talked to Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz, who had his own private photos hit the Web, about how celebrities can cope with these scandals. When we spoke with him, "Twilight" star Ashley Greene and "High School Musical" actress Vanessa Hudgens were both dealing with their own recently leaked photos.

"Well, I handled it pretty terribly for the first 48 hours," Wentz said. "I mean, I quit my band and everything. But then what I realized is that it's not the worst thing on the planet that's ever gonna happen. [I] apologized to my mom, realized that the best way to not have pictures on the Internet is to never take the pictures at all, and then made fun of it."
