"If you don't know my name, I'm not working hard enough." That's been Harlem rapper Donny Goines' mantra since 2006, when he first decided to pick up a microphone. His inspiration, as with so many other up-and-coming MCs, came from Jay-Z. After watching his 2004 concert film Fade to Black (two years after it was initially released), he took on a reworked version of the name of famed novelist Donald Goines and hit the studio.

It may have taken him some years to get here, especially considering the pace at which new-gen rappers release music online, but he insists that he is in it for the long haul.

"In this day and age, music is so worthless; people make it worthless. The reason why I say that is because they're so focused on the actual speed of getting music and they're so focused on the microwave type of music, and I decided a long time ago that I will not do that anymore," he told Mixtape Daily. "If you can't wait for me and you can't wait for my albums, then you're not really, truly a fan."

After making a splash online in 2008 with his viral video freestyle series "BARS," Donny went on to release digital projects such as Minute After Midnight, The Breakfast Club and last year's 20X EP. His next album is the one that Goines firmly believes will launch him into the consciousness of rap fans across the globe. Success Served Cold will be offered as a free digital download and feature contributions from Bun B, Fred Da Godson, XV, Laws and producer Statik Selektah. The album blends two popular phrases: "Success is the best revenge" and "Revenge is a dish best served cold."

"This is like the precursor to my long-term career," Goines said of the album, which will come in the fall. "I've worked my whole career to this album and that's what makes it so special. It's something that when people hear, they're gonna understand the hunger and the drive and the determination."

Donny began working on Success Served Cold in late 2010, and he has even partnered up with mtvU to document a piece of his recording process. "I want to create classics," he said before recalling how his favorite rappers used to release music. "I waited two years for a Nas album; I waited three years for a Biggie album. I waited for certain artists, and why should I be any different?"

T.I. Returns To Halfway House

Tip set to be released from the facility on September 29, lawyer confirms to MTV News.

T.I. is halfway home. After being sent back to a federal lockup on August 31 — just as he was making his way via luxury tour bus to a post-jail facility — T.I. has now been cleared to finish the remainder of his 11-month sentence in an Atlanta halfway house as originally intended.

On Thursday (September 15), the rapper's lawyer, Steve Sadow, told MTV News that Tip is currently in the halfway house, where he will remain until September 29. If all goes according to plan, the ATL rapper will have completed his current prison bid for a probation violation that stems from a September 2010 arrest for drug possession.

"[T.I.] went through a disciplinary hearing held before the 'Center Disciplinary Committee' (composed of Community Corrections-halfway house-staff) who recommended that he be returned to the halfway house," Sadow confirmed in an emailed statement.

"We have good reason to believe that this favorable result was reached because of the pro-active and assertive approach taken to protect T.I.'s rights by providing [Federal Bureau of Prisons] officials and the media with reliable and accurate information that T.I. did not intend to violate his transfer furlough or any other [Federal Bureau Prisons] rules en route from the prison facility in Arkansas to the halfway house in Atlanta," Sadow told TMZ. "T.I. will be released from the custody of the [Federal Bureau Prisons] on September 29th, and then will be supervised by the U.S. Probation Office for a period of one year."

Last month, the B.O.P. allowed Tip to provide his own transportation from the Arkansas prison where he was being held to the aforementioned Atlanta halfway house. The Trap Muzik MC's decision to ride in a luxury tour bus was widely reported as the reason he was sent back to prison; several sites said the bus was deemed an unacceptable mode of transportation. Upon his arrival at the halfway house, T.I. was taken back into federal custody.

Last week, TMZ published an incident report that clarified why T.I.'s first trip to the halfway house was actually cut short. According to the report, T.I. was on the bus last month with his wife, his manager and two VH1 producers. His manager and the television producers, however, were not authorized to be aboard the vehicle. The document also suggested that T.I. was conducting business during the interstate ride — a violation of his furlough.

Still, Sadow contended that his client hadn't violated any previous agreements and that the disciplinary committee agreed.

January Jones Welcomes Baby Boy

January Jones gave birth to a healthy baby boy named Xander Dane Jones on Tuesday.

"Mom and baby are doing great," Jones' rep told Us Weekly.

The "X-Men: First Class" and "Mad Men" actress admitted recently that choosing a baby name was harder than she thought it would be, especially given the fact that she chose not to know the sex of the baby beforehand.

"I'm having a hard time," she revealed to KRQ radio-show hosts Johnjay and Rich. "I'm looking for boy and girl names, obviously, because it's going to be a surprise for me," Jones said. "I love Cary Grant, I like Marilyn Monroe. That seems kind of like a celebrity thing to do, those weird names. I'm not really into that. I don't want to be too cliché about it."

Jones announced her pregnancy in April, and the news caused a bit of a stir in that she did not reveal the father's name. The Emmy nominee has remained tight-lipped about her baby's paternity, but a source close to Jones did reveal to People magazine that she is very much looking forward to being a mom.

"She's really looking forward to this new chapter in her life as a single mom," the source said.

"Mad Men" creator Matthew Weiner told Us Weekly that the actress had been wanting a baby "very badly."

"She's got a big heart and she's been talking about having children since I met her, which is not always common with actresses," Weiner said. "I think she's going to be amazing."

During her pregnancy, Jones told the mag that she was enjoying being a homebody.

"I've been in a nesting phase just preparing my house and stuff," she said.

Blink-182's Neighborhoods: Death And All His Friends

We review Blink's long-awaited, decidedly dark comeback album, in Bigger Than the Sound.
By James Montgomery

Sometime around 2003, Blink-182 decided it was time to tack their dirty joke doctorates to the wall (presumably in their respective offices, which is where everyone's degree eventually ends up) and press on as a more serious-minded outfit. The reasons behind that decision were many — the new perspective that comes with fatherhood, a decade spent on the road, recording with Robert Smith — though, truth be told, their somber new suits never seemed to fit, mostly because, at that point, they were best known for putting porn stars in their videos and giving their albums titles like Take off Your Pants and Jacket and Enema of the State.

Of course, in the eight years since their last album, a whole lot has changed. Blink-182 splintered in 2005, subsequently sparred in the press, attempted to conquer the world with non-Blink projects, endured the deaths of longtime producer Jerry Finn and close friend Adam "DJ AM" Goldstein, and in late 2008, drummer Travis Barker was seriously injured in a plane crash that killed four, including two of his associates.

Needless to say, they've earned the right to be serious. And on their long-awaited Neighborhoods album (due September 27), they take full advantage, cramming the past 96 months of doubt, darkness and death into just 49 minutes — that's the running time of the deluxe edition — and doing so quite convincingly. For the first time in their career, Blink seem comfortable in those somber suits. Sadly, it's because they've worn them to so many funerals.

Lyrically, Neighborhoods is the bleakest thing Blink have ever done, haunted by specters both real — depression, addiction, loss — and imagined. Death is a near constant, showing up in songs like the thundering "Natives" ("Maybe I'm better off dead"), the crunching "After Midnight" ("Standing close to death"), and the snarling "Hearts All Gone" ("Let's drink ourselves to death"). Shoot, even first single "Up All Night" is highlighted by a corker of a chorus: "All these demons/they keep me up at night." There's a reason the first song on the album is called "Ghost on the Dancefloor": Neighborhoods feels less like a rock record than it does an exorcism.

Sonically, it's practically nocturnal, melding the electronic flourishes of Mark Hoppus and Barker's +44 project and the laser-light grandeur of Tom DeLonge's Angels & Airwaves into a sound that recalls nothing so much as dark streets and black expanses, mostly of the suburban variety (the field behind the 7-Eleven, the cul-de-sac illuminated by the single streetlight, etc.). Even the chords — and there are a lot of them — are dark, as if DeLonge has dipped his Epiphone in ink. Hoppus' bass booms ominously and Barker's backbeats are skittering, scraping and downright scary in parts.

That said, it's not all doom and gloom. Blink still know how to write a walloping chorus, and, much like the chords, there are a lot of them on Neighborhoods. In most instances, they provide brief respites from the general bleakness: "Wishing Well" has DeLonge going "la-da-da-da-da," the hook to "Love Is Dangerous" is practically buoyant, and, of course, there's the aforementioned "Up All Night," which booms and crunches like the Blink of old.

And speaking of the old Blink, well, they're largely gone here (the synthy, star-smattered opening of "Ghost on the Dancefloor" serves notice of that fact). But given everything that went into Neighborhoods lengthy gestation — it's the rare album that took so long to come out that it actually contains a song, "Kaleidoscope," about how long it took to come out — you can certainly understand that transformation. Blink have grown up, mostly because life forced them to, and willing or not, that maturity fits.

Neighborhoods is a deep, dark, downright auto-biographical effort, and when Hoppus sings "Hold on, the worst is yet to come" (on the bopping "MH 4.18.2011"), you don't really believe him. The worst is over. It's all good from here on out.

Lloyd Banks 20 Songs Into His Next Album

Lloyd Banks still hungers for more. Last year, the G-Unit rapper dropped his third album, The Hunger For More 2, and during Wednesday's "RapFix Live" one-year anniversary show, Banks revealed to host Sway that he is well into the recording process for his next album.

Whether it will come out on EMI, where he released his last LP, is uncertain.

"I'm in between situations now. I completed my situation with EMI and going right back to the drawing board," LB said. "I've been working constantly to just make music for my mixtape series and, at the same time, for my next album. I'm about 18 to 20 records into my next album already."

Actually, Banks was just being modest. While he is getting ready to release his Cold Corner 2 mixtape in the coming weeks, he told Sway that he has quite a few tapes already completed.

"I got a couple of mixtapes done. Actually, I had the Cold Corner done for a second, but I just put it off because I could," he said nonchalantly. "I needed more time to work on everything else. I didn't want to keep on givin' 'em a date, givin' 'em a date and pushin' it back like it's an album."

Banks is quite confident about the tape: "It's a mixtape at the end of the day, but it will be the best mixtape that comes out, hands down, this year."

With all the tracks he has already recorded, fans can surely expect a handful of collaborations. Banks didn't reveal any upcoming features, but when a fan tweeted a question, asking if the Queens, New York, spitter would partner up with onetime G-Unit foe Nas, Banks couldn't say for sure but didn't rule it out. "I don't know," he said. "I'd be down for it, though. Nas is a legend."

Brad Pitt Is 'Inspiring,' 'World War Z' Director Says

'I always wanted to work with [Pitt],' Marc Forster tells MTV News.
By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz

Like a zombie ambling toward its target, Brad Pitt took his time developing "World War Z." Plan B, his production company, first acquired the rights to Max Brooks' novel about the rise of the flesh-eating undead in 2007, then hiring "Quantum of Solace" director Marc Forster to helm the project before the script underwent a series of rewrites.

At that point, it was not at all clear that Pitt would take on anything more than a behind-the-scenes role. Eventually, though, Forster found in Pitt not only a hands-on producer but the star of his film.

"I was really intrigued by the book," Forster told MTV News at the Toronto International Film Festival while promoting his drama, "Machine Gun Preacher." "I always wanted to work with [Pitt]. I think he is an incredible actor and he is an inspiring collaborator. If you look at his filmography, he has incredibly good taste. The choices he makes — he's very smart about it."

The book itself doesn't present a straightforward narrative, but an oral history that skips from character to character and crumbling nation to crumbling nation as the zombie apocalypse takes hold. From these far-flung plot strands, the filmmakers had to construct a coherent, streamlined narrative. What's more, they had to find a way to separate "World War Z" from the zombie-centric pack, both past and present, in movies, TV, video games and beyond.

"You want to try to avoid the cliché, try to make something interesting that hasn't been done before, and I felt [Pitt] was the right collaborator for that," Forster said.

Doing something fresh, in this case, meant creating something new: The film trades an oral history approach for a focus on Pitt's globe-hopping United Nations employee. "He's someone who works in the UN, has been in a lot of the hotspots around the world, from Bosnia to Sarajevo to Somalia, and has been able to stay alive," Forster said. "In this extraordinary circumstance, his journey is to basically stay alive so that the audience can keep enjoying the movie. He is trying to get to the root of how it started and to maybe find a way to beat it."

Jay-Z Jumps On J. Cole's 'Mr. Nice Watch'

Jay and J. Cole finally collaborate for Cole World: The Sideline Story, due September 27.
By Rob Markman

It may not have come as he planned, but J. Cole finally got a feature from Jay-Z on his debut album.

Despite being signed to Hov's Roc Nation, there was no guarantee that the CEO would lend his voice to Cole World: The Sideline Story. Cole recorded the yet-unreleased "God's Gift" in hopes that Jigga would ride shotgun on it. Instead, it's the slick-talking "Mr. Nice Watch" that will bear Jay's bars when Cole's album drops September 27.

It's fitting that Jay would appear on the futuristic-sounding track, considering its hook borrows from his own "A Million and One Questions." On the 1997 underground classic, a still-on-the-come-up Jigga raps in third person, "Uggh, nice watch, do you really have a spot?/ Like you said in 'Friend or Foe' and if so, what block?" And with that inspiration, Cole builds his single, which leaked online Wednesday (September 14). "No more Mr. Nice Guy, hello Mr. Nice Watch," the North Carolina lyricist raps as he moves from struggling underground artist to major-label breakout.

On the self-produced track, Cole World provides a bouncy dubstep backdrop, perfect for stunting. Hov doesn't disappoint either, rapping cryptically, using Florida Gators great Tim Tebow to metaphorically illustrate his affinity for his own wrist wear. "Got a Hublot, I call Tebow, I strap that bitch with a gator band/ Y'all n---as ball half time, y'all n---as like the Gator band."

This isn't the first time Cole has appeared alongside Jay on a track. In 2009, the upstart made his presence felt on Hov's "A Star Is Born" from the mogul's The Blueprint III album. But during his appearance on "RapFix Live" back in February, Cole told Sway the high standards that he holds for a Jay collaboration. "They been asking me this for a while because I said he was like one of the only rap features I wanted, but it's about the song. It's a lot of pressure on that song. I feel like that's my hardest song to make, is the one I want Jay for. My standards are so high."

During an August listening session in New York City, Cole played the entire album, and at that point, Jay had not yet appeared on it. Cole played both "God's Gift," on which he left an open space for Hova's verse, and "Mr. Nice Watch."

"Nobody owes me anything," he told the journalists who gathered that night. "Jay-Z doesn't owe me a verse because I signed to him."

Well, Jay gave him one and it couldn't have come at a better time.

Ryan Gosling 'Felt Ready To Play A Psycho' In 'Drive'

Actor tells MTV News he and director Nicholas Refn were inspired by idea of 'a violent John Hughes movie.'

For those who only know Ryan Gosling from his warm fuzzy work in feel-good films like "The Notebook" and the more recent romantic comedy "Crazy, Stupid, Love," or for his heroics in breaking up street fights in New York City, watching the easy-on-the-eyes actor play a psycho in his new movie "Drive" may be a shock to your system.

Directed by Nicholas Refn, the action thriller features Gosling as an intense, introverted driver-for-hire. His unnamed character is an automobile stuntman for Hollywood pictures by day and a getaway man for armed crooks by night. All is going relatively well until Gosling's driver becomes involved with his neighbor Irene (Carey Mulligan) and offers to help her estranged ex-convict husband, who wants to rid himself of unpaid debts to a group of dangerous criminals. Naturally, things get heated and really violent.

When MTV News caught up with Gosling recently, we asked why he wanted to play a psycho — his word, not ours.

"I don't know, I just felt ready to play a psycho," he said with a smile. "What I was really focused on was making a violent John Hughes movie. I love John Hughes movies," he explained, adding that he would have appreciated them even more had the director infused them with some life-or-death intensity.

"I love 'Pretty in Pink,' but I always wished there was some blood with the cotton candy," he said. "A little violence, a little head-smashing thrown in there for good measure. And so when I met Nicholas, he had had the same fantasy, too, so we just tried to go down that road."

Kanye West Feud Is 'Over,' Consequence Says

To err is human, but to forgive is divine. After Consequence appeared on "RapFix Live" back in May and dished on his severed relationship with Kanye West, the ex-G.O.O.D. Music MC returned on the one-year anniversary of the show to tell fans that he and 'Ye have buried the hatchet.

It was a day of positive celebration. Maino, Lloyd Banks and Jim Jones all came on Wednesday to toast the year that was. The Outlawz stopped by as well and talked about their onetime mentor Tupac's enduring legacy, 15 years after his death. The show's most revealing moment, however, came when Consequence seized the opportunity to make an announcement.

"I got a couple updates," Cons told Sway, as Banks sat on the red couch beside them. "Me and Kanye spoke."

Back on May 4, Cons visited the "RFL" set, where he first told viewers he was no longer a part of G.O.O.D. Music and expressed his displeasure with West. While he had a long list of grievances, the fiery MC seemed most upset about the long-delayed release of his sophomore album, Cons TV. "At one point, Kanye wasn't even doing any music after the Taylor Swift situation; it's documented he went to Europe," Cons said, alluding to 'Ye's 2009 MTV VMA outburst. "In the midst of all that, I was left hanging."

But the Queens MC revealed he had a change of heart when after the birth of his son Caiden, his son's mother played the infant "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly," one of Cons and Kayne's more popular collaborations. "It got to the point where I was just like, 'Yo, I'm gonna hit son one time, and one time only, and see where we're at with this,' " Consequence said of his decision to reach out to 'Ye. "Is it gonna get all the way turnt up?" he recalled thinking.

As many fans know, West famously doesn't have a phone and the best way to reach him is through email, so Cons fired away. "I hit him, and he hit me back with one of those all-caps tirades," he said. "He was pissed and rightfully so. And I was pissed and that's why things happened the way they happened. ... He spoke his piece, I spoke my piece, and he told me he loved me. And the feud is over with Kanye."

As for the exact details of the exchange, Cons wouldn't elaborate much. "He can speak for [himself] but basically it was an analysis of 10 years and [Kanye asked], 'How could you do this to me in the public?' And he got hit right back with that: 'How could you do this to me in the public?'

"When you spend 10 years working with somebody and basically y'all consider each other brothers, that's a lot, that's a lot of dirty laundry," Cons continued. "That's why it was easy for me to do some of the things that I did, just on the strength that."

Although the two seem to be working out their issues, fans shouldn't expect them to hit the studio together any time soon. "It doesn't mean that I'm going back to G.O.O.D. Music; I got my own company," he said of his newly formed Bandcamp Entertainment.

What do you think of Cons' latest statements about Kanye? Tell us in the comments!

As if the Twitter back-and-forth weren't enough to get fans excited for their Christmas-themed collaboration, MTV News now has photo evidence of Justin Bieber and Boyz II Men singer Shawn Stockman in the studio together.

In the photo, both guys are seen looking casual in baseball caps and T-shirts. They shared a high-five in the studio, which was even decorated with Christmas lights.

The guys had a bit of a Twittermance post-session that had the veteran Boyz reminding the teen phenom to never forget the wisdom they shared with him. And whatever that advice was, it certainly made an impression on Bieber. "I'm not gonna forget. THANK U!!" he tweeted.

Bieber has a busy fall ahead of him. As he readies the release of his Christmas album, he's also getting ready to hit the road in South America and Mexico. "Back in the studio putting the finishing touches on this Christmas album and getting the tour stuff together," he tweeted.

The tour will kick off later this month in Mexico and will make its way around South America, including stops in Brazil and Argentina. He'll wrap up the stint at the end of October. He's pretty much off the road until December and January, when he has two stops planned in Illinois.

"Seeing all the love for the S AMERICAN fans ... tour is less than a month away. Who got tickets in BRAZIL? in Argentina? in Mexico? in Chile?" he tweeted.

'Avengers' Star Chris Evans Dishes On Stan Lee Cameo

For a while, Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee was claiming his upcoming cameo in "The Amazing Spider-Man" would be his funniest big-screen turn yet in a series of appearances stretching back to his blink-and-you'll-miss-it role as a hot-dog vendor on the beach in 2000's "X-Men." But Spidey now has some serious competition, as Lee maintains his "Avengers" cameo gave him the opportunity to pop off "probably the funniest line that I've had to say yet."

The superhero he gets to deliver it to is Chris Evans' Captain America, a nerdy triumph that had the actor pumping his fist in mock victory over his fellow Avengers and saying, "It's great!"

Like Lee, Evans wouldn't reveal the details of the cameo — and, honestly, what would be the fun of knowing beforehand when and how the comic creator will appear? — but he did gush about working with Lee.

"He's an amazing human being," Evans said while promoting his upcoming legal drama, "Puncture." "The guy is a living legend. He's so positive and so upbeat and so energetic and just a nice man. There are very few people I've met who have achieved so much and have still maintained this youthful excitement."

This wasn't the first time the two men have shared the screen. Lee briefly popped up in 2005's "Fantastic Four" as postman Willie Lumpkin opposite Evans as the Human Torch. "He's so happy to do things," Evans told us. "He's so excited to live his life. He wakes up every day and he's so excited to be Stan Lee. It's a great thing that someone can hang on to that after years of dominating."

Rihanna 'Can't Wait' For Fans To Hear New Album

RiRi and her 'Cheers' producers tweet about recording album number six.
By James Montgomery

She may still be wringing singles from her platinum-plus Loud album, but Rihanna is already prepping her sixth studio effort. And, from the sound of things, it'll be finished soon.

RiRi took to her Twitter account early Thursday morning (September 15) to confirm that, yes, sessions for album number six are already under way. "I can't wait to start filling u guys in on some details!" she exclaimed.

Rihanna punctuated that tweet with a "*Zips lips*," meaning that, for now at least, she's done talking about the project.

Talk of new music began on Wednesday, when the singer retweeted a post from production duo the Runners (Rihanna's "California King Bed" and "Cheers"), who wrote, "Shout out to @alexdelicata for makin history with us. Wait till they hear this new @rihanna song."

But in late July, producer Verse Simmonds — one half of the studio duo known as the Jugganauts, who produced Rihanna's hit "Man Down" — talked to MTV News' Mixtape Daily about the new album, saying that Ri was close to completing work on the disc.

"From what I understand, she's closing the album up now, and we did two records for her that she really, really loved, and I'm really excited about them as well," Simmonds said. "They are records that we wrote and produced as the Jugganauts."

Simmonds said he was "99.999 percent" sure that his and production partner Sak Pase's contributions would make the final cut, and while he wouldn't elaborate on what Rihanna's new album would sound like, he did hint that it'll move in a direction quite different from "Man Down."

"Because we ... as producers, as artists, we try to always come with something different, a whole new sound," he explained.

Of course, finishing up her album isn't the only thing on Rihanna's plate these days. During Wednesday night's "The X Factor" launch party in Los Angeles, Simon Cowell confirmed to KIIS FM that she would also serve as a guest judge on the show, saying, "You're going to see her."

Actress Scarlett Johansson is threatening legal action against anyone who posts the nude photos of her that hit the Internet on Wednesday.

Johansson's lawyer, Marty Singer, has issued letters to websites that are running the photos — one of which shows her topless, another shows her standing with a towel covering her front side with her butt exposed in a mirror — noting that they must take the photos down and that they are "stolen copyright protected private photographs," according to TMZ.

The lawyer's statement continues, "The highly personal and private photographs at issue capture our client self-posing in her own home in a state of undress and/or topless. If you fail to comply, you will be acting at your own peril. Please govern yourselves accordingly."

E! News confirmed that the FBI is currently investigating who may have hacked the actress' computer or other device and leaked the photos. "The FBI is investigating a person or group responsible for a series of cyber intrusions of high-profile figures," FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said. "This would include many devices — could mean a computer, desktop, laptop, iPad, cell phone ... intrusions into personal online accounts too."

Johansson is one of many celebrities who have been targeted by a ring of hackers who gained access to their personal information, including Christina Aguilera, Miley Cyrus, Jessica Alba, Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato.

On the same day that Johansson's photos hit the Web, TMZ reported that Mila Kunis had also been hacked. There are reportedly four photos of the actress floating around, including one of the actress in a bathtub and one of her with an unidentified male. There are also reportedly two photos out there of Kunis' "Friends With Benefits" co-star Justin Timberlake. He is lying in a bed in one and wearing pink underwear on his head in another. Kunis is not featured in the pics with Justin.
