Fans of late British soul star Amy Winehouse will get a look at the final song and video the "Rehab" singer filmed before her death Wednesday when Tony Bennett releases the clip for the pair's duet on the jazz standard "Body and Soul." The clip will premiere at 6 a.m. on MTV, VH1, MTV Hits and mtvU and then repeat on an hourly basis throughout the morning, after which it will be available online on MTV.com.

The track and video will drop on what would have been Winehouse's 28th birthday, and it will show the unique collaboration between the legendary crooner and the beehive-sporting retro soul singer who died July 23 of undetermined causes in her London apartment. The song and video were recorded on March 23 at Abbey Road Studios in London and the proceeds from its sale will be donated to the Amy Winehouse Foundation.

"We had a beautiful time recording together in the studio, and I knew that Amy was very happy with how she performed that day," Bennett said in a statement. "I thought she was absolutely brilliant, and this recording truly captures the essence of her unique artistry. She was a rare talent."

The video footage of the two singing together is bittersweet, with Winehouse looking healthy and alert, twirling her hair coquettishly as she matched him note-for-note on the standard. Wearing one of the plaid sweaters from her Fred Perry fashion collection, her hair in a signature bouffant, a smiling Winehouse held her own with Bennett, trading lines and sharing a warm hug at the end.

The recording session was filmed by Oscar-winning cinematographer Dion Beebe ("Chicago," "Memoirs of a Geisha") as part of an upcoming documentary on Bennett. The song will appear on the 85-year-old icon's Duets II, which also features him singing with Lady Gaga, Michael Bublé, Queen Latifah, Carrie Underwood and John Mayer.

In some behind-the-scenes footage of the sessions, Winehouse discussed getting the call to record a song for the album. "The first time I met Tone was ... can I call him Tone?" a smiling Winehouse said in the interview segment. "Should you ask him first really, before you start? ... OK, first time I met Tone I would say I took my dad and my stepmother and my boyfriend to see him at Royal Albert Hall and we went both nights."

Amy went on to describe her father Mitch's reaction to the news that his daughter would be singing the song made popular by such icons as Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra. Mitch, a budding lounge singer who released his debut album earlier this year, told her, "Oh, it's only my favorite song in the world, oh my God, do you even know it?" Amy recalled, doing a bit of a silly impression of her pops.

"I was like, 'Of course I know it, Mitchell, I'm your daughter, of course I know it.' It was really exciting that he chose that song, because I do love it. It's such a beautifully written song and it's a song you can do a lot with, so I was really excited to sing that."

Winehouse was particularly happy with the big ending on the recorded version and the way her voice blended "perfectly" with Bennett's. "It couldn't have been better," she smiled.

MTV News caught up with Winehouse's goddaughter, Dionne Bromfield, on the pre-show black carpet at last month's 2011 VMAs. "It's sad to know that they're paying a tribute to her death," Bromfield said of the Bruno Mars-fueled nod to her musical inspiration. "Unfortunately it has to be this soon. I didn't think it would be this soon at all."

Bromfield, who has released two albums on Winehouse's Lioness Records label, said the late singer was her musical godmother as well. "She taught me how to play instruments. I never knew how to play guitar or piano until Amy started to teach me. She taught me to write." As for what she hoped people would take away from the tribute, Bromfield added: "Just the real Amy. ... Not everything else, just her music."

Amy Winehouse and Tony Bennett's "Body and Soul" video premieres Wednesday at 6 a.m. on MTV, VH1, MTV Hits and mtvU.

Wiz Khalifa And Amber Rose <i>Not</i> Married

Speculation spreads after photo of couple dressed in wedding-style clothes hits the Net, but source tells MTV News pair didn't tie the knot.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words but in the case of Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose's wedding-style photo, only one word is needed: no!

After the photo hit the Net, a source close to the couple told MTV News on Monday (September 12) that the couple did not get married during their Las Vegas trip late last week. Instead, the Rolling Papers rapper simply wanted to celebrate his birthday last Thursday by dressing up — he in a black tux, her in a white dress. A representative from the Clark County Recorder's Office in Las Vegas also confirmed that there is no record of a marriage between the two.

The pair have recently discussed getting hitched, however. While on the black carpet at MTV's 2011 Video Music Awards, Wiz and Rose spoke to MTV News about their plans to eventually tie the knot.

"Oh yeah, absolutely, man; it's gonna happen," Wiz said. "Like we said, we're just gonna do what's natural and not let any pressure [get to us], because even [with] the word of it happening, people are like, 'You guys need to get married now,' " Khalifa explained. "It's gonna happen; my baby knows I love her. I'm committed and she's committed, so we're just gonna make it happen."

"We discuss it all the time. Like he said, we're very much in love," Rose told us. "But, ya know, we're just going to take our time and just enjoy each other right now. We're both really busy and we work really hard and when the time comes, it's gonna come."

After going public with their romance earlier this year, the Pittsburgh spitter appeared on our "RapFix Live" show and was joined by Amber in one of the live stream's more memorable moments.

The lovebirds have become the topic of much blog speculation mostly due to the model's previous courtship with Kayne West, but despite the publicity, Rose and Wiz have been pretty upfront about their feelings for each other. "He's really funny, he's really charming," she said to "RFL" host Sway. "I didn't know much about his music at first and, obviously, he became a good friend. I started listening to his music. He's awesome, he's talented. He's amazing."

"I'm just me. That's what it is," Wiz added during the March episode. "I'm completely comfortable about everything in my life. That's what my career has been built off. Everybody gets that right away, so you don't have to find anything about me. I'm not gonna hide it; I'm gonna embrace it and give people in the same situation something to look up to."

Mixtape: Streetz Calling

Real Spit: There's no question that when it comes to rap, Future is among the hottest up-and-comers. So fans of the Atlanta rapper's mixtapes may be sad to learn that his recently released Streetz Calling will be his last solo tape. Not to worry, though, an album is on the way.

"My mixtape, which will probably be my last solo mixtape, is 9/11: Streetz Calling," said Future, who recently announced his deal with L.A. Reid on Epic Label Group. "9/11: Streetz Calling with DJ Drama is supposed to be my last mixtape before I put my album out. My album is gonna be [titled] Pluto."

Though he originally planned to release his mixtape on 9/11, Future had to instead drop Streetz Calling on Friday after the tape began to leak early. Tracks like "Made Myself a Boss," the codeine-inspired "Easter Pink" and the chest-pounding "Name Hold Weight" exemplify Future's penchant for spitting catchy hooks and relatable rhymes.

The 2011 MTV Jams' Fab Five inductee has earned many fans; even some of the game's top rappers recognize his pedigree. "I wasn't even ready for Drake to get on it, but when he called I was like, man, I was acceptin' it with open arms," Future said about Drizzy's contribution to his "Tony Montana (Remix)." "He was just so far from where I'm at now, he's so far [from] me, so for him to reach back down like, 'Hey I want to get on your song,' it was big on him. It just showed that he's not out of the loop and I was in the loop."

Though Drake doesn't actually appear on Streetz Calling, Future did manage to round up Gucci Mane and his A1/Free Bandz partner Rocko on a tape otherwise navigated by Future himself.

Check back on Monday, September 19, to see Mixtape Daily's full Streetz Calling segment with Future.

What a year! From the ascent of Wiz Khalifa to the rise of Rick Ross' Maybach Music empire; from Lil Wayne's 2010 prison release to T.I.'s latest incarceration; from the tragic death of Nate Dogg to the murder of M-Bone; not to mention the release of the highly anticipated Watch the Throne and Tha Carter IV, "RapFix Live" has been the number one source of all things hip-hop.

After 12 months of hard work, MTV News will celebrate on the "RapFix Live" one-year anniversary show, set to kick off Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET on MTV.com. Lloyd Banks, Maino, Trina and the Outlawz will join host Sway in taking a look back at the past year in hip-hop. In this special celebratory broadcast, "RapFix" will also relive the show's greatest moments. Who could forget when Rick Ross graced the "RFL" couch for the very first time, or when Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose professed their love for each other in front of our cameras?

After announcing their reunion, the Diplomats appeared on "RapFix Live" in January — but without Juelz Santana. While the Dipset, covering for their boy, told us Elz had suffered an allergic reaction, we later learned that the Harlem spitter had his studio raided by police. Santana stopped by himself in June to set the record straight.

Cam'ron and crew weren't the only rap supergroup to stop by "RFL," though. Before releasing their Bad Meets Evil EP, Royce Da 5'9" and Eminem invited Sway out to Detroit for a special sit-down. Fans also tuned in, in record numbers, when Consequence swung through the MTV Newsroom and aired out his grievances with onetime label boss and friend Kanye West. Yes, there have been some memorable moments on "RapFix Live" and a wide range of guests, including Lil' Kim, Nicki Minaj, Game, Diddy, Busta Rhymes, Ja Rule and J. Cole.

But the exclusive interviews aren't the only thing that fans tune in to see on "RapFix Live." At the end of every broadcast, the show's guest isn't allowed to leave until he or she kicks a freestyle rhyme. Pusha T, Fat Joe, Beanie Sigel, Nicki, Reek Da Villain and Fabolous have all blessed the show with their bars.

The ridiculous rhymes and the standout moments — we're celebrating it all on Wednesday's one-year anniversary show! Fans can also vote on their favorite "RapFix Live" freestyles and "RapFix Live" moments on our blog. Be sure to join the Twitter conversation using the hashtag #RapFixLive.

Catch Lloyd Banks, Maino, Trina and the Outlawz on the "RapFix Live" one-year anniversary show on Wednesday, September 14, at 4 p.m. ET on MTV.com!

Coldplay Unveil 'Paradise' Single, Duet With Rihanna

Band's much-anticipated Mylo Xyloto features 14 songs, including team-up with RiRi on 'Princess Of China.'

They may still be tinkering with the tunes but, bit by bit, Coldplay are letting Mylo Xyloto out of the bag.

On Monday (September 12), they not only unveiled the second single from the album — a pulsing, preternaturally pretty song called "Paradise" — they also revealed the full track list for Xyloto, a collection of 14 songs that includes one rather, uh, unexpected guest star: Rihanna.

Yes, RiRi contributes vocals to the new track "Princess of China," which, along with live Coldplay favorites like "M.M.I.X.," "Hurts Like Heaven" and "Charlie Brown" made Xyloto's final cut. Also included on the album are "Up In Flames" and "Don't Let It Break Your Heart," a pair of songs that Coldplay's mysterious Roadie #42 recently described as "a masterwork of restraint" and "almost violently life-affirming," respectively.

Mylo Xyloto is produced by Markus Dravs, Daniel Green and Rik Simpson, with (as a press release from the band's publicist puts it) "enoxification and additional composition" from Brian Eno. The album will hit stores in the U.S. on October 24.

"Paradise" is the second official single off the disc, following in the footsteps of the massive "Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall", and the similarities between the tracks don't end there. With its shimmering electronic pulses, whomping beat, repeated vocal mantras, wide-screen harmonies and epic crescendo, "Paradise" seems like the spiritual sequel to "Waterfall" (the latter is even mentioned in frontman Chris Martin's lyrics) and builds on a similar theme: one of maximum uplift.

The final track list for Coldplay's Mylo Xyloto, according to the band's spokesperson:

» "Mylo Xyloto"
» "Hurts Like Heaven"
» "Paradise"
» "Charlie Brown"
» "Us Against the World"
» "M.M.I.X."
» "Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall"
» "Major Minus"
» "U.F.O."
» "Princess of China"
» "Up in Flames"
» "A Hopeful Transmission"
» "Don't Let It Break Your Heart"
» "Up With the Birds"

Amy Winehouse's Dad Says Singer Died From Seizure

Mitch Winehouse believes his daughter died during alcohol detoxification.
By Gil Kaufman

The results of an official inquest are still pending, but Amy Winehouse's father, Mitch, revealed to Anderson Cooper that he believes his daughter died while trying to detox from alcohol.

In an interview slated to run on Monday (September 12) on the CNN anchor's new syndicated daytime talk show, "Anderson," Mitch Winehouse said Amy, who died on July 23 at age 27 of as-yet-undetermined causes, approached getting clean like she did everything else in life: with gusto.

"Everything Amy did, she did to excess," budding lounge singer Mitch told Cooper. "She drank to excess and did detox to excess." Winehouse explained that he believes Amy died as a result of a seizure caused by alcohol detox. He also revealed that while an initial autopsy showed no sign of illegal drugs in the "Rehab" singer's system at the time of her death, there were traces of the prescription drug Librium, which is commonly used to relieve anxiety and control agitation caused by alcohol withdrawal, according to The Associated Press.

Winehouse had fought against drug and alcohol addiction for years, and Mitch said that when she suffered her fatal seizure, there was "nobody there to rescue her." The singer's family also said that toxicology tests indicate that there was alcohol in her bloodstream, but that it was unclear if it contributed to her death.

One of Mitch Winehouse's regrets, he told Cooper, is that Amy was trying to kick her alcohol addiction without the help of a doctor. He said she suffered from seizures and would lose consciousness in the time before her death and that "the periods of abstinence were becoming longer, and the periods of drinking were becoming shorter," he said. "It was headed in the right direction."

Though Mitch was merely speculating on what killed the singer, the full details may be revealed soon, as the inquest is slated to begin next month. Amy's boyfriend at the time of her death, Reg Traviss, said they spent a quiet evening at home looking at pictures and watching DVDs two days before she passed and that they were making plans to attend a friend's wedding a few days later.

He told Cooper he struggled to find the right time to speak to Amy about her drinking without coming off as a nag. "She was a really clever girl," he said. "She knew what she was doing. I would sometimes choose my moments when there was something that was needed to be said."

Andy Whitfield, star of the Starz Entertainment sword-and-sandal series "Spartacus," died in Australia on Sunday at the age of 39.

The muscled actor succumbed to non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, a type of blood cancer with which he was diagnosed in March 2010, according to The New York Times.

Whitfield was born in Wales, but made his home in Australia, where he first came to attention after stints in a number TV shows, including "All Saints" and "Packed to the Rafters." The sometime model had his biggest breakthrough, though, when he was cast in the Starz series "Spartacus: Blood and Sand," in which he played the title role of a soldier who leads a rebellion against the Roman Empire. The series was an instant hit thanks to his turn in the classic role that had previously been filled by such screen icons as Kirk Douglas.

Look back when Hollywood Crush named Andy Whitfield a Hump Day Hottie last year.

After his diagnosis last March, Whitfield began to undergo treatment in New Zealand, which led to the delay of the second season of the show and the filming of a six-part prequel, "Spartacus: Gods of the Arena," for which he provided some voiceover work. He was initially declared cancer-free a few months after treatment, but suffered a relapse later in the year that forced him to abandon the role, which was recast.

His wife, Vashti, issued a statement on Sunday confirming his death. "On a beautiful sunny Sydney morning, surrounded by his family, in the arms of his love wife, our beautiful young warrior Andy Whitfield lost his 18-month battle with lymphoma cancer ... he passed peacefully surrounded by love," the statement said. "Thank you to all his fans whose love and support have helped carry him to this point. He will be remembered as the inspiring, courageous and gentle man, father and husband he was."

The cable network Whitfield called home also released a statement on his passing. "We are deeply saddened by the loss of our dear friend and colleague, Andy Whitfield," said Starz President and CEO Chris Albrecht. "We were fortunate to have worked with Andy in 'Spartacus' and came to know that the man who played a champion on-screen was also a champion in his own life. Andy was an inspiration to all of us as he faced this very personal battle with courage, strength and grace. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time. He will live on in the hearts of his family, friends and fans."

Shia LaBeouf Feels 'Vindication' After 'Transformers 3' Success

In the run up to the release of "Transformers: Dark of the Moon," Shia LaBeouf was adamant about two things: the second chapter of his alien robot franchise honestly wasn't very good at all and the newest sequel would blow everyone away.

"It is the best movie we've made, I'm serious," LaBeouf told MTV News in June. "It's not a joke. I'm dead honest, man. I get myself in trouble all the time, but this is our best installment."

He's probably right. "Dark of the Moon" is the top-grossing film in the series ($1.1 billion) and received an "A" CinemaScore from audiences, according to Paramount.

Having announced that the third "Transformers" film will be his last, LaBeouf recently told us that he's leaving the franchise on a high note. "For me, I feel vindicated for having guilt on my shoulders for the second movie," he said. "There is vindication in this one being successful and people enjoying it."

Since finishing up the international press tour for "Dark of the Moon," LaBeouf has been collaborating on a music video with Marilyn Manson and doing postproduction work on John Hillcoat's "The Wettest County in the World," a drama about Prohibition-era bootleggers.

"That's probably the biggest, coolest opportunity I've been allotted so far," LaBeouf said of Hillcoat's follow-up to "The Road." "It's the most colorful character I've been able to play, the most depth I've been able to show as an actor."

At the same time, the actor has been prepping for work on "The Company You Keep," a political thriller that Robert Redford will direct and star in. "I've been in Redford's office doing read-throughs," LaBeouf said. "He's very efficient with his time. He's a master at juggling his time and his attention span. When his attention span is focused in your direction, he's laser-beam focused. He knows exactly what he wants. He's very specific. He's hilarious and fun and vibrant and everything you'd want in a director. I'm very excited to see a man direct himself. I've never seen that happen on a set. I know how intense and tough that's going to be. I'm showing up more as an audience member."

'X Factor' Auditions Teased In New Promo

Posted: 12 Sep 2011 09:00 AM PDT

'It's more than just a voice. It's something else,' Simon Cowell says in the 8-minute promo.

Contestant Rachel Crow appears on X-Factor

Promotion for the U.S. version of "X Factor" kicked into high gear on Sunday night when Fox aired a unusually lengthy eight-minute preview of their forthcoming talent competition. The preview gave viewers an early introduction to the judging panel's insight and some potential audition favorites before the show's splashing debut on September 21.

After a montage introducing all of the panelists — Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, L.A. Reid and Nicole Scherzinger — the TV preview offered viewers a taste of the series' upcoming auditions.

First up was the enthusiastic 13-year-old Rachel Crow, whose bubbly personality shined as bright as her voice. Upon her arrival onstage, the curly-haired student showed no signs of cold feet for what she described as "the most important thing I've ever done in my life."

"My family has, like, no money," the fresh-faced auditioner told Cowell. "And let me tell you, we live in a two-bedroom house, OK? And I have six people in my family, which is a lot of people. And I'm a girl. I need my own bathroom."

After her brief chitchat with the panel, Crow tapped her foot, swayed her hands and delivered a belting rendition of Duffy's "Mercy." As you may have guessed, Abdul exuded just as much energy as the big-voiced Crow when she smiled and bobbed her head to the chanting tune. And it wasn't just Abdul who enjoyed the audition, but also fellow judge L.A. Reid. "You have everything that every artist I've ever signed has: feisty, sassy, soulful. You got it all, baby. I love you," he told her.

Cameras soon panned to the backstage reactions from the young girl's family, who joined together for a group hug. Crow looked in almost disbelief as she questioned her mom about the audition. "Mom, did you see that?" she asked.

"X Factor" was also quick to showcase the show's much-promoted no-age-limit rule when they moved on to the next contestant, 42-year-old single mother Stacy. The youthful-looking singer tearfully recalled the story of meeting someone who disregarded her big dreams, leaving her faith in shambles.

"I don't want to die with this music in me, Simon," she candidly told the judge onstage, with the microphone clenched with both hands.

Shots of the studio audience, who waited to hear whether or not Stacy could deliver, flashed when she began her cover of Aretha Franklin's "(You Make Me Feel Like a) Natural Woman." Just a few lines into the tune, Stacy was met with an overwhelming audience cheer and stunned reactions from the judges.

"Let me tell you something, Stacy. I've done this a long, long time. That was one of the best auditions I have ever heard in my life. Loved it. Loved it. Loved it. I love you," Cowell gushed.

"X Factor" fans were met with even more eye (and ear) appeasing clips when the preview concluded with a dramatic montage and news of a two-night premiere, which airs September 21 and 22.

We can also expect some high-profile guests during the show's premiere season. Rihanna has signed up to guest-judge on an as-yet-undetermined date, according to TMZ.

Need more Britney Spears amped-up club tracks in your life? Well, the Femme Fatale singer has your back. Britney tweeted her plan to release a remix album next month.

B in the Mix: The Remixes Vol. 2 will drop on October 11, and the singer had this to say about the release: "Exciting news people ... new remix album is coming out on 10/11! Pumped for you to hear these tracks - I love them."

The album will feature reworked versions of 10 of her songs, both from Femme Fatale and her previous work. The songs are: "Gimme More" (Kaskade Club Mix), "Piece of Me" (Tiësto Club Mix), "Radar" (Tonal Club Remix), "Womanizer" (Benny Benassi Extended), "Circus" (Linus Loves Remix), "If U Seek Amy" (U-Tern Remix), "3" (Manhattan Clique Club Remix), "Till the World Ends" (Alex Suarez Club Remix), "I Wanna Go" (Gareth Emery Remix) and "Criminal" (Varsity Team Remix).

Spears dropped the first part of the B in the Mix series back in November 2005. On that record, folks like Justice, Bill Hamel, Junkie XL and Jason Nevins, to name a few, put their spin on major releases and under-the-radar tracks including "Me Against the Music," "Touch of My Hand," "And Then We Kiss" and "Early Mornin'."

The news comes as Britney preps the release of her next single, the Femme Fatale slow jam "Criminal," which made the track listing for B in the Mix: The Remixes Vol. 2. Spears also recently tweeted that she's shooting the video for "Criminal" in England.

The commercial, titled "Born of Fire," features the Detroit-born rapper driving through his hometown while his track "Lose Yourself" plays in the background.

"We were very surprised," Aaron Allen, the creative director at Wieden + Kennedy, the ad agency that created the commercial, said. "We really wanted to win but wondered if humor would win instead."

HBO's drama "Boardwalk Empire" was the big winner at Saturday night's Emmy ceremony. The show took home seven awards including art direction, editing, sound editing and visual effects.

HBO also took home awards for "Mildred Pierce," the Lady Gaga Monster Ball concert special that aired earlier this year and the children's program called "A Child's Garden of Poetry."

The Creative Arts Emmy show will air on the ReelzChannel on Saturday. The prime-time Emmys will take place Sunday in Los Angeles.

The stars came out for the 2011 ALMA Awards on Saturday night, with folks like Demi Lovato and "Glee" star Naya Rivera taking home prizes at the show, which honors Latino artists for their work in movies, TV and music.

E! News reports that Lovato won for Favorite Comedy Actress, TV, for "Sonny With a Chance." The star later tweeted, "YAYYYY!!!! I can't believe it!!! Thank you guys so much!!!!! #ALMAwards."

The Disney Channel got some additional love when Selena Gomez's "Wizards of Waverly Place" co-star Maria Canals-Barrera won for Favorite Supporting Actress.

The Female Music Artist prize went to Rivera, in spite of the fact that she didn't actually release any music apart from her work on "Glee." The Male Musical Artist prize went to Pitbull, who tweeted, "@Mssauceda @Pitbull @GloriaEstefan @DemiLovato Y nosotros queremos verte en los #AlmaAwards. Gracias por el apoyo. Azucar!" All of that roughly translates to a big hey to Pit's fellow A-listers, as well as a thank-you for all of the support.

Rivera also expressed her excitement on Twitter, writing, "Beyond happy about my Alma award win! Can't thank the NCLR and everyone who voted enough!! Love you all so very much."

Other big winners included Jessica Alba (Drama/Adventure Actress, Film, for "Machete"); Rico Rodriguez (Supporting Actor, TV, for "Modern Family); Antonio Banderas (Actor, Film, for "You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger"); and the "Desperate Housewives" cast, which won for Favorite TV Series.

The ALMA Awards will feature performances from Lovato, Pitbull and Gloria Estefan. Rappers Paul Wall (born Paul Michael Slayton) and Baby Bash (Ronald Ray Bryant) were arrested in El Paso, Texas, early Sunday morning on suspicion of possession of less than two ounces of marijuana. The pair, who were in town to perform at the Summer Jamm 2011 show on Saturday, were released on Sunday afternoon after each posted a $300 bond, according to the El Paso Times.

Wall announced the arrest on his Twitter account, writing, "fresh out the El Paso County jail wit @Babybash @Biggroy, in the same tank they held Willie Nelson/Johnny Cash," accompanied by a photo of him in the back of a police car with Bash, who is in handcuffs.

The arrest occurred in what was described in press accounts as a "drug-free" zone, a detail that was explained in a subsequent Facebook post from Bash. While Wall, 30, seemed to have a good sense of humor about the incident, Bash, 41, was a bit more heated in his Twitter response. "Ain't 2much worse than a " HOE ASS PUNK EL PASO COP that abuses his authority, just cuz me and Paul Wall are artists! Only GEEKS and fools who don't have any spine abuses Authority! But I'm back in the FLESH feelin' so FRESH, out the tank mang!"

He quickly clarified, though, that he was not lashing out at cops over the arrest. "I'm not here to diss ALL police, they have a tuff gig and I respect that! BUT u have the ONE or TWO that will disrespect & abuse the power cuz maybe they got picked on in high school a lot and now have a chip on their shoulder, and that's exactly wut happened to us, all we did was SMELL like weed and wen he couldn't find it and we didn't snitch on who sparked it, he got overdramatic and took us in! He found out who we were and really got big shot on us! Haha even his partner said he's a di--."

Bash continued, claiming that bail was low because the judge "knew it was a bogus call." He said the pals admitted in court that they had smoked earlier, which is why they "smelled like tree," but that they didn't have any marijuana on them at the time of the arrest. "That made him [the officer] mad cuz he thought RAPPER must have large amount!"

A spokesperson for the El Paso Police Department was not available for comment at press time.

We wouldn't be surprised by a spike in hand-sanitizer sales over the weekend, considering how many folks saw "Contagion." Filmmaker Steven Soderbergh's procedural thriller — about a pandemic spread through doorknobs, Blackberrys and handshakes — was the #1 movie at the box office, with an estimated $23.1 million debut.

"Contagion" — which stars a remarkable number of Academy Award nominees and winners — Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Winslet, Marion Cotillard, John Hawkes, Elliott Gould, Jude Law and Laurence Fishburne — has been a hit with critics, with 82 percent of them reviewing the film favorably, according to Rotten Tomatoes.

"Warrior" also boasted 82 percent on the Tomatometer at press time but was only able to muster a paltry $5.6 million in its debut, landing the mixed-martial arts drama at #3 on the box-office chart. By comparison, "The Fighter" (which critics also loved) took in $12.1 million in its 2010 debut.

By all accounts Adam Sandler and his Happy Madison pals had a blast making "Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star," but it's unlikely they were pleased with the film's reception. "Bucky" (which wasn't screened in advance for critics) took in less than $2 million at 1,500 single-screen locations. The movie's $1.45 million is less than half the opening-weekend number of "Grandma's Boy," which starred Bucky co-writer Allen Covert and "Bucky" star Nick Swardson.

Meanwhile "The Help" continued to do great business, landing at #2 with another $8.6 million added to its five-week total (which now stands at over $137 million). The adaptation of the popular novel is now the 14th-highest grossing film of 2011. "The Help" co-star Jessica Chastain also appears in "The Debt," which took in $4.9 million in its second weekend of release to land at #4.

"Columbiana" rounded out the top five with $4 million in its second weekend of release. The Luc Besson-produced female-driven action flick has earned $29.7 million thus far.

This weekend's new releases include the highly touted Ryan Gosling flick "Drive," which Variety wrote "takes the tired heist-gone-bad genre out for a spin, delivering fresh guilty-pleasure thrills in the process."

Check out everything we've got on "Contagion."
