Jay-Z, Kanye West's Throne Defies Radio Rules

While lacking conventional single, Watch the Throne tracks 'Lift Off,' 'No Church in the Wild' and 'N---as in Paris' trend on Twitter.

Nothing Jay-Z and Kanye West have done leading up to Monday's release of Watch the Throne has been conventional. While most rap artists look to impact radio with a big crossover single before they drop their album, the Throne handled things a bit differently.

Yes, there was the release of the Lex Luger-produced "H.A.M.," which now stands as a bonus track on the deluxe version of WTT. Then there was "Otis" of course, but with no catchy chorus, the Redding-sampled track hardly screams crossover. Shade 45 DJ Statik Selektah said he doesn't think Jay and Kanye still need to conform to radio — he actually believes the opposite: "I think Jay and Kanye could put out an a cappella song and it'll get played," the DJ told MTV News.

Check out our photos of Jay and Kanye recording Watch the Throne.

Sucker Free and Power 105.1's DJ Envy agrees. While "Otis" doesn't fit the exact formula for a hit, Envy said radio has picked it up for one simple reason: It's a good record. "The first single, 'Otis,' if you wanna call it a single, it's not a radio record but it's been added on so many different radio stations, which I think is dope," he said. "You still play it in the club, and it's a hot record."

Because of their respective musical accomplishments, Hot 97's DJ Kast One said the Throne are the exceptions to the radio rule. "They're in a different type of space: It's Jay-Z and Kanye — they're arguably two of the biggest rappers, I wanna say, ever," he said.

Shade 45's DJ Wonder echoed that sentiment: "With Jay-Z and Kanye, they're so iconic that it's not going to make a difference what they decided to do; people are gonna want it."

It's not that Watch the Throne has a shortage of likeable records. Since its release Monday, songs like "Lift Off," "No Church in the Wild" and "N---as in Paris" have all become trending topics on Twitter.

Conventional wisdom says that Watch the Throne will eventually produce a number of records for radio, but it doesn't seem that Hov and Yeezy necessarily planned for that while recording the album. DJ Khaled argues that when artists go in with the aim of recording for radio, they end up losing authenticity. "I think people that go in the studio saying, 'I'm making a radio record' is when they start goin' in the wrong direction. It's called, make a great record," he said. "When you start thinking, 'Oh, I should put a little sprinkle and make it radio,' sometimes that hurts you because it's not authentic."

Nicki Minaj, Joe Jonas Take Us Backstage On Femme Fatale Tour

'Behind the scenes, there's a lot of security, lots of salad and lots of cranberries and almonds,' Minaj jokes to MTV News.

Britney Spears' Femme Fatale Tour is a glittering, over-the-top spectacle, complete with multiple costume changes, set changes, and a fleet of backup dancers and stage performers. Another major part of the tour is the other acts who are on the road with the star. MTV News caught up with tourmates Joe Jonas, Nicki Minaj and "Drop Dead Beautiful" rapper Sabi on their New Jersey tour stop, and they gave us an inside look at what it takes to get this show on the road.

"Behind the scenes, there's a lot of security, lots of salad and lots of cranberries and almonds, lots of dancers stretching," Spears' tourmate Minaj joked from her dressing room. "There's also a lady that comes every day and gives massages. She has like a massage chair and every time I go out there, she's giving some bloody bloke a massage," she teased in her signature British accent.

Brit's show isn't the only one that incorporates multimedia displays. Nicki's opening slot goes above and beyond thanks to video packages and costume changes. "Well, definitely I wanted my set to be more than an opening act 'cause, you know, I did that already," she said. "I always like to raise the bar for myself and that's what I did. I think it's important to give people what they paid for."

Sabi said that hours before the show happens, there's lots of hustle and bustle to make sure everyone is in the right state of mind. "It's crazy to see how wardrobe is rushed from one location to the next, or if there's something wrong with the shoes or there's extra shoes and dancers need massages and the catering's not here till 5 and we have to eat at 5 o'clock and everybody rushes to catering," she explained of all the hubbub."It's pretty fun and hectic back here, but it's dope."

During the show, Sabi hits the stage alongside Brit to perform their Femme Fatale track and she says that being up there in front of the sea of pop fans is "kind of hard to describe," adding that, "it's bananas. I get the biggest rush ... it's crazy.

"I've learned how she just delivers. There can be a bajillion things going on and she just delivers every time," Sabi said of Spears. "I'm learning the professionalism of it."

Jonas kicked off his time with Spears in his home state of New Jersey and said that he was stoked to be there. "[I'm] very excited right now. I can't wait," he said in his dressing room. "Getting up on the stage felt really comfortable, so I think it's gonna be really fun. Like everyone out there, I'm a fan of Britney, and it's New Jersey, so it couldn't be more perfect."

Nicki certainly has plenty of pop music crossover appeal and says that performing in front a pop crowd has worked well for her. "Honestly, it's been epic," she said. "They have an amazing spirit, a great vibe, and it's love every night, and I would not have traded this experience for anything else in the world."

Evanescence Say Making New Album 'Felt Like The First Time'

After a 20-month hiatus from performing, Evanescence returned to the stage in fine, fighting form Monday (August 8) for the exclusive "MTV First: Evanescence," treating viewers to the first live performance of their comeback single, "What You Want," followed by a lengthy no-holds-barred Q&A.

The energy in the room and onstage was palpable. The live audience at Blackbird Studios — the recording house where the band laid down the majority of their forthcoming, self-titled album — held on and rocked out to each and every note, particularly frontwoman Amy Lee's powerful vocals.

In discussing their hiatus and eventual return as a band, Lee admitted that the "hard part" of making music and recording was something she felt was missing from her writing process.

"The fact that we had to fight for it felt like the first time again," Lee said of the band's ups and downs in the years leading up to their latest work.

"I had a little bit of an identity crisis," Lee admitted of being in and associated with Evanescence since she was a teenager and into her adulthood. "[The success with] 'Fallen' happened really fast, and it was just go, go, go for a couple years, and we went right into writing and wrote the next record. By the time we finished touring with 'The Open Door,' I just needed to go, 'Who am I as an adult?'

"But [in taking a step back I realized] this is what I do," Lee said. "It's not a character; this is really me. Realizing and getting back to it in a real, fuller way. 'Oh, I'm in this because I love this and [the band] is a true, real part of me,' not because it's a character or something. It just makes me really, really happy to be here."

Anne Hathaway Responds To 'Dark Knight Rises' Catwoman Reaction

It was the photo that launched a thousand blog posts, tweets and message-board debates. Last week, the Web was ablaze when Warner Bros. released the first photo of Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle in "The Dark Knight Rises."

MTV News was immediately on the case, offering up our own analysis, as well as thoughts from a few experts on what the photo of Hathaway in costume, riding what looked to be Batman's motorcycle, meant for the character and her assumed transformation into Catwoman.

Check out our photo analysis of Hathaway's Catwoman.

Now, in knowing how tight-lipped the "Dark Knight Rises" stars are sworn to be about the films, when we caught up with Hathaway as she promoted the upcoming movie "One Day," we didn't expect her to offer any commentary about the photo — but she surprised us.

"I was not going to admit it: I asked someone to send me a few reactions [to the photo]," she said. "And I happen to know that MTV's reaction was 'meh.' "

Now, we're not sure about the "meh" quote, but we will admit to using the phrases "cautiously optimistic," "unflattering" and "underwhelming" in our analysis.

Regardless, Hathaway said that no matter the first impressions, there is a lot more happening with that suit.

"What I am happy to say is, if you didn't like the photo, you only see about a 10th of what that suit can do," she promised. "And if you did like the photo, you have excellent taste."

It's Gucci time! Last week, Game, Diddy and Machine Gun Kelly joined us on "RapFix Live," and on Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET, Gucci Mane and Waka Flocka Flame will sit down with MTV News' Sway to discuss Gucci's recent release from prison, as well as the duo's new Ferrari Boyz LP.

It's been a tumultuous year for Gucci, who was released from Fulton County Jail in Atlanta in July. The "Freaky Gurl" rapper was jailed in April after numerous probation violations stemming from a 2005 aggravated assault case. While his rap mentor was behind bars, however, Waka Flocka Flame has emerged as one of rap's notable hitmakers after dropping his debut album, Flockaveli, last October. Proving that he could carry on without Gucci, Waka made his mark thanks to singles like "O Let's Do It," "Hard in Da Paint," "Grove St. Party" and the Roscoe Dash and Wale-assisted "No Hands."

Now that the pair are reunited, they are set to drop their collaborative Ferrari Boyz, featuring singles like "PacMan" and "She Be Puttin' On," on Tuesday. Expect the duo to talk music, drama and their overall position in the rap game when they sit with Sway.

And that's not all. this week "RapFix Live" will also welcome one-half of Bad Meets Evil, Royce Da 5'9". In May, Eminem and Royce chopped it up with Sway in Detroit in an exclusive "RFL" interview. This past weekend, the Slaughterhouse MC took the stage alongside Em and Bruno Mars to perform their new single "Lighters" at Lollapalooza. Even though he is still in BME promo mode, Royce is also releasing his Success Is Certain solo album, so there'll be plenty to talk about.

Nicki Minaj is ready to get even more animated than she does in her videos and her colorful stage show. The singer confirmed that she's ready for her cartoon close-up in the latest "Ice Age" flick, "Ice Age: Continental Drift," in which she's set to play one of the many kooky characters alongside folks like Wanda Sykes, Jeremy Renner, Aziz Ansari, Heather Morris and even her pal and fellow MC Drake.

When MTV News caught up with Minaj backstage at the Femme Fatale Tour stop in New Jersey, she opened up about how she ended up in the A-list flick, the fourth in the hit franchise.

"I don't know how much I can talk about that, but I came about that when my agency sent me out on an audition for some people who wanted to hear me," she recalled. "They knew I liked animation, they knew I liked to do voices, and so they said they were doing that so I thought, 'This is amazing.' "

However, getting a part in the film wasn't all that easy for the superstar. "The original role that I was up for I didn't get," she explained. "So I said, 'Oh, OK, whatever.' I was really mad, and the next thing you know, they called me and they said, 'We wrote in a part just for you 'cause we really want you to be a part of this movie.' "

Although she wouldn't divulge which role she plays in the film, Minaj did say that she really put a lot of work into the part, leaving the final voice selection up to the film's producers. "And I just was screaming and so excited, and I went in and I had a blast. I did it as two different voices," she said. "We'll see what happens."

Damon Dash Talks $3 Million Tax Debt

Roc-A-Fella co-founder opens up on Shade 45's 'Sway in the Morning.'
By Rob Markman

The once-flamboyant Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder Damon Dash is now in debt. In July, The Detroit News reported that the music mogul and Jay-Z's former business partner owes almost $3 million in back taxes, according to a tax lien filed June 30.

On Friday, Dash visited the "Sway in the Morning" radio show on Shade 45 and spoke to host and MTV News correspondent Sway Calloway about his recent troubles with the IRS. After being asked about owing "$2 million," Dash quickly set the record straight: "I owe way more than $2 million in taxes. That must've just been the IRS," Dash said, laughing, before admitting that he was in a bad space financially. "Nah, nah, I'm f---ed up."

Dame made his mark alongside Jay-Z and Kareem "Biggs" Burke in the mid-1990s. After the trio founded Roc-A-Fella Records and released a few street singles, they dropped Jay-Z's debut album, Reasonable Doubt, in 1996 and embarked on a storied run. In the following years, Roc-A-Fella would continue to put out records from Hov and also introduce new artists such as Memphis Bleek, Beanie Sigel and, of course, Kanye West. By 2005, however, it all came crashing down, and Jay-Z parted ways with Dash and Burke, leaving them on the outside looking in.

Dash has since started new business ventures, and on Friday, the DD172 CEO told Sway that when it comes to his tax troubles, he just doesn't have the money. It isn't because he is broke, Dame insisted, but rather because he redistributes his money back into his many companies, choosing to reinvest instead of making a profit off the top. "It's the price of business; it is what it is," he explained. "I owe taxes: I got to pay.

"They're auditing me. When you're a business man, you have a lot of businesses, a lot of times they think you're laundering money or you're pretending you're writing things off that you don't," he continued. "I'm a true businessman. As you know, I believe in my independence, I have no partners, so every dollar I make goes right back into every business I have."

Dash charges that the audit is a result of his accountant's failure to itemize his expenses. "If I have an accountant that just reports I just invested $10 million in my business and he doesn't exactly itemize where every cost goes, it gives a flag to the government," he said. "They want to make sure that the reason I'm not paying taxes is because I'm reinvesting in these businesses and not trying to hide stuff."

Now, DD has to wait until the government goes through his books. H said he thinks it might take a while before things are sorted out. "They gotta look at every single transaction, and the government is slow," he said. "They really don't believe that I'm so real about putting all of my money into my business, but that's what I do."

Catch MTV News' Sway Calloway on "Sway in the Morning," on SiriusXM Radio's Shade 45, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to noon ET.

Nikki Reed and Paul McDonald became engaged just months after they started dating, but no one can deny that the two are head over heels in love.

The "American Idol" season 10 finalist popped the question in June, and wedding preparations are already under way, according to Reed. MTV News caught up with the "Twilight" starlet at Sunday's Teen Choice Awards, and she told us her fiancé is actually hogging the wedding planning duties.

"He's doing a lot of it, he is. He's, like, taking control," Reed said with a laugh. "He sits with his computer in between songs and is kind of on a roll with everything."

McDonald couldn't make it to the awards show over the weekend, but the 23-year-old actress found a way to bring him along with her anyway. "Paul's on my nails," she smiled, pointing at her hand. "I put Paul on each one of my nails, and that's his band, the Grand Magnolias. That's their logo because he can't be here, and I said I'd take him with me."

In June, MTV News caught up with McDonald, and he similarly couldn't stop gushing about his lady. He defended their quick journey to an engagement, saying he never expected to be getting hitched at age 26.

"It's kind of one of those things you don't expect. Like, last year I never would have thought I'd be getting married," he said. "She's amazing. She's the perfect girl. We fit each other; when you know, you know, and she's the one."

Joe Jonas was recently in Paris shooting the music video for "Just in Love With You," from his solo debut Fast Life, due in October. He made his way around the City of Lights for the clip and told MTV News at the New Jersey Femme Fatale Tour stop that he always wanted to have the chance to film one of his videos in the European city.

"I think they didn't know what was going on, 'cause I didn't announce I was doing a video," he said of fan response to the upcoming clip. "I love Paris — it's one of my favorite cities — and so to shoot a video in Paris was a dream come true."

While he got to cross something off his bucket list, being on set wasn't as easy as he would have liked. "I was the only one who spoke English on the whole set," he recalled. "So many times I'm like, 'Are we going?' It was a lot of fun. I think fans are going to be shocked and excited to see the video."

The middle JoBro caught fans' attention when he was spotted getting romantic on the "Just in Love With You" set with a lovely French model. "She's really sweet," he said of his leading lady. "She lives in Paris. Her name's Angele. Really great, really nice. We were really comfortable with each other on camera."

The video will follow up Jonas' fiery clip for "See No More," but he said there was a time when it could have gone the other way around. "It's the right follow-up [because] for a while, it was between [the two for first single] and I struggled with which one to go with for a while," he said. "But I feel like 'See No More' is a good setup and 'Just in Love With You' is a fun-vibe song."

Mixtape: Definition of F--- Sh-- 2

Real Spit: Atlanta rapper Alley Boy is tired of the shenanigans ... of course, he words his displeasure differently. On his Definition of F--- Sh-- 2 mixtape, the Duct Tape Entertainment co-CEO throws pleasantries out the window and gets straight to business.

"I brought the mixtape out and I wanted to come with the part two for the Definition of F--- Sh--," Alley said of the street-bred sequel. "I just wanted to hit them with some real sh-- for the street."

On his latest, Alley Boy doesn't conform to any industry standard. Songs like the slow-rolling "Bring the Pain," which interpolates Method Man's 1994 song of the same name, and the Zaytoven-produced "I Ain't Cool" put AB's street demeanor on full display. On the latter, Alley warns newcomers that he isn't the friendly type. He raps, "I ain't speakin' 'cause I ain't cool/ Don't approach me 'cause I ain't cool."

Things get even more hectic on "Tools," a dedication to the rapper's collection of firearms, and "Rob Me a N---a," produced by Big K.R.I.T. and featuring Freddie Gibbs.

Yes, he is in the music industry, but Alley Boy refuses to operate under the confines that he believes are present in today's hip-hop scene. He'd rather just stay true to himself.

"There's a lot of folks who are just stickin' with that industry music. I wanna show n---as that n---as in the street, we can do this," he said. "You could stick with what you do and still get it."

Joints to Check For

» "Four" featuring Young Jeezy and Yo Gotti - "That 'Four' came out the blue. I got the track from my boy Metro, he seen me in the trap. I went in on the hook and the first verse I went so crazy on it, then I had been politicking with my boys Jeezy and Gotti, so I just sent them the record. I already knew what the song was gonna do, just me. I was like, 'Sh--, I'mma add this spice on to it and I know what it's gonna do.' It's just been goin' and 'Four' crazy right now."

» "Rob Me a N---a" - "I got the 'Rob Me a N---a' track from my n---a Freddie Gibbs. Bruh sent me the track, he said Big K.R.I.T. sent it to him and he just went crazy on it. He sent it to me like, 'Bruh I just want you to f--- with it because this sh-- just fit everything we got goin' on. We gonna bring that real back.' So you know it was a blessing. He sent it, I just did my thing to it and there it is."

'Hunger Games' Sequel Set For November 2013

'Catching Fire' is only movie scheduled for 2013 Thanksgiving weekend so far.
By Terri Schwartz

Get your fire extinguishers ready, because the world is going to be "Catching Fire" on November 22, 2013.

Lionsgate announced the release date for the second installment in the "Hunger Games" film series Monday (August 8), following two new stills from the first flick hitting the Web. "The Hunger Games" is still in production and is slated for a March 23, 2012, release. "Catching Fire" is the only movie slotted for the prime 2013 Thanksgiving weekend spot.

No word yet on whether "Catching Fire" will maintain Gary Ross as director or whether it will follow "The Twilight Saga" and "Harry Potter" trend of getting new directors for its four installments. But, considering "The Hunger Games" is close to wrapping, the timing of the announcement leads us to assume that Lionsgate is attempting to maintain some continuity from the first movie to the second.

The new photos from "The Hunger Games" show that the cast is well into filming. The first still shows off Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen in the middle of the titular Hunger Games. It is a familiar image from the previously released photos, but the "X-Men: First Class" star looks ready for battle with her quiver full of arrows. If you look close enough, you can even see her mockingjay pin peeking out on her jacket.

Photo number two features Josh Hutcherson as Peeta, one of the two leading men in the movie. He looks a bit worse for wear and a lot less concerned than Katniss about the fight to the death he's embroiled in. It appears that this photo takes place about halfway through the movie, after Peeta suffers a serious injury.

According to Elizabeth Banks' interview with ComingSoon.net, there's only about a month of filming left on "The Hunger Games." Banks, who plays Effie Trinket in the series, had nothing but wonderful things to say about the project. "We're really making a provocative movie that's also highly entertaining. It's gonna be fun," Banks said. "It's really great to make something that you know people are excited about and also that you know is gonna deliver. I really think the fans are gonna love it."

The "Harry Potter" series went out in style Sunday night at the Teen Choice Awards, with Tom Felton and Rupert Grint hitting the stage to accept the coveted Choice Summer Movie award.

Felton also presented the Choice Movie Actress award alongside Christopher Mintz-Plasse. As a relative newcomer to the awards-show circuit and first-time Teen Choice Awards presenter, MTV News asked the "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" star how much he had prepared for his big day.

"If it's over-prepared, you see sometimes that it's so clearly scripted, and it's not going to be any good," Felton said. "I'm trying to stay loose at the tongue and see what comes out."

Check out hot red carpet photos from the Teen Choice Awards.

Still, he had planned a bit of a skit with Mintz-Plasse to make their presenting duties memorable. When they came out onstage, Mintz-Plasse told Felton that he had a fling with one of the five nominees but had been avoiding her for a while. Felton comforted him by saying that there were five potential winners, so the odds of Mintz-Plasse's lady being chosen were pretty low, but it turns out that winner Cameron Diaz had been the slighted lover all along. After a cute interchange with Mintz-Plasse, Diaz accepted her award.

But that wouldn't be the only time Felton was called up to the microphone that night. He won the Choice Villain award for his work in "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2," and then he and Grint took the stage to accept the Choice Summer Movie award for the "Potter" cast.

"It's been nearly 11 years since we were cast, so thank you so much for really sharing the journey with us and making these films such a success. None of it would have been possible without you guys," Felton said in his acceptance speech.

The last we saw of Grint and Felton, the man better known as Ron Weasley had crashed the "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" premiere wearing a shirt proclaiming his love for Felton. When asked if he was excited to see Grint again at the Teen Choice Awards, Felton had to stop himself from expressing his eagerness.

"Don't — you'll get me started then I'll be gushing," he said with a laugh.

The "Twilight" cast might be famous for their acting talents, but their secret power is definitely in their culinary abilities.

Ever since Kristen Stewart dished on the BBQ extravaganza she cooked for her co-stars, it's been a bit of an MTV tradition to ask the cast of the five "Twilight Saga" flicks for any food updates in their lives. Ashley Greene opened up to Teen Vogue back in January about how her ex-boyfriend Joe Jonas had inspired the foodie inside of her, so when MTV News caught up with the actress at the 2011 Teen Choice Awards, we couldn't resist asking if she is still happily cooking away.

Greene said that she and her costar and offscreen BFF Kellan Lutz became a bit too food-happy once they found out there was a Whole Foods right around the corner from where they were staying while filming "Breaking Dawn." Apparently the duo helped keep the grocery store in business by spending a lot of money during their time there.

"Me and Kellan get excited sometimes, and we're like, 'Let's just buy everything! We're going to cook every night.' Not like we're going to be at work, you know what I mean?" Greene said with a laugh.

She said the two of them made a lot of fish dishes, though she typically sticks to chicken. But Greene was most excited by the times they experimented with new recipes.

"I made my own homemade mojito one time, which was pretty interesting and awesome," Greene admitted. "We made pumpkin soup, which I had never made before. We just got recipes and kind of mixed it up."

Big Boi didn't spend very much time in jail on Sunday. At approximately 10 am. ET, the Outkast rapper was arrested after Customs agents in Miami allegedly found MDMA powder, Ecstasy pills and Viagra (a controlled substance) in the ATLien's luggage upon his return from a cruise.

"Fresh Out Baby!" Big Boi tweeted at about 6 p.m., followed by, "Sh-- they said it was the Love Boat," two hours later.

Big was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia and was held at the Pre-Trial Detention Center in Miami on a $16,000 bond. Last week, Sir Lucious Left Foot tweeted that he was on vacation and sent out photos from Puerto Rico and Grand Turk Island via the social networking site. The rapper was apprehended upon returning to the States.

An arrest affidavit, sent to MTV News by the Miami-Dade Police department on Monday (August 8), confirms that after Big Boi was searched by a Border Patrol officer using a drug-sniffing dog, the Atlanta MC was busted with 5.7 grams of MDMA in powder form, three pills of suspect Ecstasy and a total of 10 and a half pills of Viagra, as well as a cigarette roller with marijuana residue.

The MC's attorney, Daniel Kane, sounded confident that his client would be cleared. In a statement issued to MTV News, Kane said, "While Big Boi was traveling with his group and friends, a small amount of contraband was found in the collective luggage. I am confident when the entire facts are aired, Big Boi will be completely exonerated."

Big Boi, born Antwan Patton, got his start in 1994 alongside Andre 3000 in the group Outkast. Together they released six studio albums including the 2006 soundtrack for their film "Idlewild." They've sold millions of albums and earned four Grammy awards. Last year, Big Boi released his first solo LP, Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty, and the group is rumored to be working on a seventh studio album, though there's no official word on a release date.

Although Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez are reluctant to publicly discuss the details of their romance, they are far less shy about showing support for each other in the form of surprise concert appearances, tweets and words of appreciation and encouragement.

When MTV News caught up with Bieber at the Teen Choice Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday, just before he took home three of the coveted surfboards for Choice Male Artist, Choice Male Hottie and Choice TV Villain, we asked him which of the evening's musical acts he was looking forward to between Gomez, Jason Derülo and OneRepublic.

"Best performance of the night, Selena Gomez," he boldly predicted of his lady friend's yet-to-be-seen performance of "Love You Like a Love Song," which, coincidentally enough, went on to take home the award for Choice Love Song. (Gomez also won awards for Choice Female Hottie, Choice TV Actress Comedy, Choice Music Group and Choice Music Single for "Who Says.")

Bieber went on to say that it's easy to admire the "Wizards of Waverly Place" actress because she's a down-to-earth, genuine person.

"I feel like she's relatable to a lot of different teenagers. She's kind of girl-next-door; she's real cool. She's very nice," he said with a smile. "She's a very nice girl."

After Bieber spoke to MTV News, Gomez and her band the Scene provided the screaming masses in attendance with a rousing rendition of their breakout ballad. Gomez wore a leg-baring gown, adding in some throwback glam with a veiled headpiece.

'Dark Knight Rises' Recruits Pittsburgh Steelers For Cameo

NFL team was snapped shooting scenes as fictional Gotham Rogues.

The NFL lockout might be over, but life for the Pittsburgh Steelers was certainly not back to usual on Saturday, when Christopher Nolan's "Dark Knight Rises" swooped into Heinz Field and recast the team as the Gotham Rogues.

Clad in familiar black-and-gold uniforms, the Steelers-turned-Rogues included Ben Roethlisberger, Hines Ward, Willie Colon, Troy Polamalu and Heath Miller, according to multiple local reports. Former Steelers coach Bill Cowher returned to the sideline to play the Rogues' coach. Cowher and crew were joined by more than 10,000 extras, bussed in to film a fictional game between the Rogues and the Rapid City Monuments.

The shoot itself dives into some spoilery territory, so if you'd like to remain blissfully unaware of the goings-on in Gotham during "Dark Knight Rises," in which Batman faces off against Bane, turn back now!

Reports from the scene indicate that the football game is violently interrupted, with explosions, the presence of three tumblers and the arrival of Bane. After the players are reportedly killed and the assembled crowd is freaked the hell out, the villain comes out onto the mangled field, grabs a microphone and makes an announcement about how Gotham has been liberated.

What's perhaps most interesting about Bane in all this is how sickly he sounds. According to DC Comics lore, Bane became a test subject for something called Venom, a substance to which he becomes so addicted he needs it to survive. Couple that sickly voice with the production picture of a thick scar on Bane's neck, and we're starting to get an idea of a bad guy who is deeply unwell, not only in mind but in body.

The shoot stretched into the evening, starting off with straight football scenes and concluding with Bane's destructive entrance and announcement. It's just the latest on-location shoot for the city of Pittsburgh this summer, but residents appear to be embracing the whole thing.

"Forget Hollywood. You guys were great," an assistant director told the crowd at one point, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, "I'll come to Pittsburgh any time for extras."

Over the weekend, fans got one tweet closer to the release of Lady Gaga's video for "You And I" when she released the gender-bending artwork for her latest Born This Way single.

"You will never find what you are looking for in love, if you don't love yourself," she wrote of the song's and images' message. "#You&ISingleCover." The photos are of Gaga as her male alter ego, Jo Calderone. One shot features her/him wearing a blazer and white T-shirt, head down, smoking a cigarette. The other image is of Jo in silhouette puffing out a cloud of smoke.

This is not the first time fans have had the pleasure of meeting Jo. Gaga did an entire photo spread and interview as the fictional Italian car mechanic for Vogue Hommes Japan. In the issue, Calderone revealed some details about his relationship with the singer. "I met her at a shoot Nick Knight was doing," he said. "She's f---in' beautiful, and funny, and interesting. I was a little nervous for Nick to start shooting. She said, 'Don't be baby, you were born this way.' I took her out after. The rest is private."

Gaga promised last week that she would drop the video when she reached her one-thousandth tweet. Gaga previously teased that the video would include another one of her alter egos, that of her mermaid incarnation, Yuyi.

Gaga shot the video in Nebraska last month and explained that it is about taking a journey to win back the one you love. "And the [video is about the] idea that when you're away from someone you love, it's torture," she said. "I knew I wanted the video to be about me sprinting back and walking hundreds of thousands of miles to get him back."

Taylor Lautner managed to nab the surfboard for Choice Movie Actor Sci-Fi/Fantasy at the Teen Choice Awards on Sunday night in Los Angeles, where a bevy of Hollywood's biggest A-listers gathered to celebrate all things young Hollywood.

Before he took home any prizes, Lautner chatted with MTV News on the red carpet at the show, admitting that he never really knows how to prepare for these types of events. The actor eventually settled on showing up in his signature easy-breezy style, donning a leather jacket, slim-fitting jeans and a T-shirt. "It's really hard to prepare, so it's kind of like you just show up here, have fun," he said. "It's really a true testament to our fans that we're still here on movie #4. They're amazing."

While "Twilight" was up for a number of awards at the show, it only took home three: In addition to Lautner, Kellan Lutz won the surfboard for Choice Movie Male Scene Stealer and Ashley Greene won for Choice Movie Female Scene Stealer.

Check out hot red carpet photos from the Teen Choice Awards.

Quickly the conversation turned to, you guessed it, "Twilight." Lautner revealed that he's done something very few people can say they have: He's seen "Breaking Dawn - Part 1," Twi-hards. "I've seen it a few times," he said. "I saw it for the first time while we were still filming, so it was a really rough cut, but I've seen several versions since then, and it's getting better and better."

As the film gets closer to its November release, Lautner wants fans to brace themselves for an emotional roller coaster. "You are going to face a lot of emotions, definitely," he teased. "You are going to be angry. I guarantee you [that] you will cry multiple times. There's a good mix. It's definitely different than any of the ones before."
