It's your moment, Barbz!

Nicki Minaj will debut her "Moment 4 Life" video Thursday on MTV at 7:54 p.m. ET, and the Young Money megastar will answer questions live immediately following the premiere. Minaj will sit down with MTV News' Sway and field questions from her Barbie army in an interview that will be broadcast on MTV, followed by a live stream on MTV.com. For a chance to hear the Queens lyricist's thoughts, tweet your questions with the hashtag #asknicki. You can also upload video questions to Your.MTV.com.

MTV News stopped by the Los Angeles video set and scored footage of Minaj filming in a palatial mansion alongside Drake — with whom she's rumored to smooch in the clip. Rocking a draped aqua gown with a chunky jewel-encrusted bodice, a sparkly headpiece set atop a jet-black wig, and, of course, bubblegum-pink nails and lipstick, Minaj strolls into the expansive manor. Sporting an all-black ensemble, Drake clutches a martini as he looks over the balcony at his Young Money cohort.

"To do something with Drake is the best, because this is really my friend," Minaj told MTV News on set. The platinum-selling star added that she's making the visual extra-special since she's got Drizzy along for the ride. "So we put a couple things in there that we're not gonna give away."

Drake also spoke to us about Minaj's meteoric rise, recalling their humble beginnings as buzzy Lil Wayne signees trekking around the country with their Young Money family on tour.

"To think of the girl that I used to ride the bus with — and that's what she was to me: this girl that I rode the bus with," he said. "I was like, 'Female rap?' And I'm being dead honest with you. [I thought,] 'Man, it's been a while since there's been a female rapper, and I'm curious to see how this works.' It's not that I didn't believe. And she was probably looking at me like, 'This Jew from Canada: I don't know.' "

Don't miss the premiere of Nicki Minaj's "Moment 4 Life" video, featuring Drake, Thursday at 7:54 p.m. ET on MTV, followed by a live interview with the Young Money femcee that will continue on MTV.com. If you have questions for Minaj, tweet them with the hashtag #asknicki or upload a video question to Your.MTV.com.

'American Idol' Finds Tragic Stories, Aerosmith Groupies In Milwaukee

Posted: 26 Jan 2011 07:40 AM PST

Jerome Bell, Scott Dangerfield, Alyson Jados and Scotty McCreery stand out in week two.
By Gil Kaufman

Photo: FOX

The second week of "American Idol" auditions brought our judges to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and the first visit to the beer-and-cheese-loving Midwestern town busted out of the gate with a surefire star in the making, as well as the by-now-familiar slow-motion glamour montage complete with Steven Tyler yelps and profane bleeps. The trip also served up one of the most touching "Idol" audition moments of all time and a healthy roster of talented young teens.

Though the focus was to be on the auditioners this year, the episode opened with Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler doing an endearing a cappella duet of Aerosmith's "Sweet Emotion" accompanied by an Altoids tin and some cheeky lyrics about bad singing. As if we could forget that Tyler is a world-famous rock star, right?

But that was soon replaced by the froggy voice of Garner, North Carolina, native Scotty McCreery, 16, who wowed the judges off the bat with his perfect country rumble through Josh Turner's "Your Man" and Travis Tritt's "Put Some Drive in Your Country." Both songs sounded like the work of a career cowboy crooner rather than a high school baseball prospect. "Well hellfire, save matches, f--- a duck and see what hatches!" Tyler enthused to the howls of the whole "Idol" crew. "That's beautiful."

Host Ryan Seacrest humored budding radio host Joe Repka, 19, an awkward communications major who lost the panel off the bat with his lame "radio voice," then set them howling like dogs with a warbly operatic slog through Billy Joel's "The Longest Time."

Emma Henry, 15, said she's watched the show since she was 5, and her raspy, emotional "True Colors" by Cyndi Lauper had rough spots but won Tyler over with its unique character. "I want this so bad; this is what my life is about," the emo teen wept after judge Jennifer Lopez said no and Jackson reluctantly put her through. "Don't disappoint us," he cautioned.

One of the bright spots in an otherwise grim day of auditions in Milwaukee was colorful belter Naima Adedapo, who killed it with a gospel-tinged slow-and-easy version of Donny Hathaway's "For All We Know," which was powerful, self-assured and oh-so-buttery. "I like you a lot," said Lopez, who called Adedapo the whole package. They also gave a thumbs-up to wedding/ bar mitzvah singer Jerome Bell, 27, when the New York native slayed Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On" thanks to high energy and a sugar-sweet falsetto. "So good, so good," Tyler gushed.

One thing has already become clear this season: Singing Lady Gaga is a terrible idea in an "Idol" audition. Every time. And don't show up with giant toothbrushes or wearing your Civil War re-enactment costumes, because that mess doesn't wash.

Admitting that they lowered the age limit in part because of Bieber Fever, Seacrest said there have been a lot of stellar 15-year-olds so far this year, with startlingly confident California native Thia Megia proving them right after a soulful stroll through Adele's "Chasing Pavements." She set off an avalanche of 15-year-old gold-ticket winners, providing a glimpse of the youthquake that is sure to shake the Hollywood rounds.

It's unclear why 22-year-old Harvard grad and White House intern Molly De-Wolf Swensen even needs "Idol," but the statuesque blonde proved she has some other skills with a smoky "Sitting on the Dock of the Bay" that appeared to catch Tyler's eye. "Who knew what was goin' on at the White House?" Randy said, with Tyler adding, "That's great. You got attitude, you know where to put it, geez, that was beautiful!"

Day two brought more R&B belters, a (terrible) Obama impersonator, an operatic destruction of Bieber's "Baby" and a Minnie Riperton slayer with some serious bad attitude. Then there was mild-mannered awkward loner accountant/funeral singer (is that even a thing?) Steve Beghun, who did a Jason Mraz-meets-Josh Groban warble that Tyler called "disturbingly great" and which was just good enough to get him to Hollywood.

Milwaukee student teacher Scott Dangerfield, 22, looked like an indie-rock slacker but came on like a blue-eyed soulster when he sang Amos Lee's "Dreamin'." It felt a bit mannered but was so compelling to Lopez that she called it her favorite audition so far, counseling him to keep the grown-out Bieber hair and nerdy glasses.

Hire a rock star and you'll get a few groupies, such as self-avowed Chicago rocker girl and bartender Ali Jados, 26, who immediately caught her idol's fancy. "Wow," Tyler said wide-eyed while looking over the raven-haired beauty with the voluptuous mouth. "You look like you could be one of my ... nope, I can't say it. ... One of my friends."

She knew just what song to pick, too, growling out a cover of the Beatles' "Come Together," which Aerosmith famously covered in the disastrous 1978 "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" movie, segueing into a duet with Tyler on Aerosmith's "Dream On."

Tyler appreciated that she sang one of his songs but said he was scared by how pitchy her performance was, though Lopez liked her stage presence and performance quality. Randy gave it a no while Lopez said yes, so it was up to Tyler, who faked left and then sent Jados to the next round.

The night ended with one of the all-time "Idol" audition tearjerker stories, courtesy of Chicago's Chris Medina, 26, who told the tragic tale of his fiancée's life-changing car accident. After getting engaged following eight years together, she suffered a traumatic brain injury in 2009 and Medina explained how he stood by her side and is now her caretaker.

His finger-snapping amble through "Break Even" by the Script had touches of heart and soul, and after he wheeled girlfriend Julie in to meet the judges, they broke the good news that he was going to advance. "Nice kid, he sang great," Randy said.

Thursday night's show will take the panel to Nashville for another night of auditions.

'Jersey Shore' Star Pauly D 'Nervous' About Heading To Italy

'I don't know what gyms are like over there, I don't know what tanning's like,' Pauly tells MTV News.

On Tuesday, MTV announced that for the upcoming season of "Jersey Shore," the cast would be hitting the road once again ... only this time, they're heading all the way to Italy.

If you think you're excited about the news, well, you should hear "Shore" star Pauly D talk about the gang's upcoming trip.

"I've never been to Italy, and it's always been a dream of mine," he told MTV News on Tuesday night. "I'm excited to see my roots. I have family in Italy, but I don't speak with them since I don't know the language. My mother still talks to them, though. [And] I know Vinny has family there. But none of us have ever been. It's gonna be fun."

Of course, no voyage of self-discovery is complete without overcoming a few obstacles. So while he's excited, Pauly is also aware that he and his "Shore" mates will probably run into the occasional, uh, cultural issues when they arrive in Italy. But he's more than ready for the challenge.

"I'm nervous, I'm not gonna lie," he laughed. "I don't know what gyms are like over there, I don't know what tanning's like, I don't know the food, and the language — I don't even speak Italian. Maybe I should get a Rosetta Stone or something.

"And they got some nice clubs out there, and the women ... they're real Italian women, you know?" he continued. "Since I don't speak the language, I don't know how I'm going to talk with them. I'm hoping the smile does the trick. The less words the better. I'm looking forward to the challenge."

Despite the cultural differences and the language barrier, Pauly said that he can't wait to start filming the new season — cameras are scheduled to start rolling this spring — mostly because it means he'll get to hit the road with his best friends, which, to him, at least, is the best thing about being on "Jersey Shore."

"I really love being in Seaside [Heights], I love being in Jersey and I love being at home," he said. "But I also love traveling, and with this, I get to travel with my lifelong friends and that's another memory we'll all have together."

Don't miss "Jersey Shore," airing Thursday nights at 10 p.m. ET on MTV.

Nicki Minaj Gets 'Romantic' With Drake In 'Moment 4 Life' Video

First Nicki Minaj and Drake got married. Then they got divorced. After that, Drake claimed he wrote his "Un-Thinkable" verse about Nicki. And now, the two Lil Wayne protégés will star in Nicki's "Moment 4 Life" video, premiering Thursday at 7:54 p.m. ET on MTV followed by a live interview with Minaj herself.

The question on everyone's minds now is: Will the sparks fly between the two in the clip?

"People have come to be intrigued about us," Minaj told MTV News from the video's Los Angeles set. "And we're shooting the video together, so I was like, 'There has to be some kind of romantic story line.' So we put a few things in there that we don't give away."

Perhaps the pair will smooch again? During her December concert in New York, Drake made a guest appearance and surprised fans when he planted one on the "Right Thru Me" raptress. Photos of the alleged kiss popped up everywhere afterward, but Drake sported a hooded jacket that concealed his and Nicki's faces when they drew close.

According to Nicki, she and Drake are just friends, which she insists often despite his flirty responses in interviews. "This is someone that I'm gonna hit on the [phone] later today, like, 'What's up,' " she said. "It's a family affair when it's Drake."

Drizzy, on the other hand, has always had something different to say.

"It is [about Minaj], I'm not gonna lie," Drake explained when asked about his verse on Alicia Keys' "Un-Thinkable (I'm Ready)" last year. "The concept came from a conversation that we had, or conversations we have. I wrote it based off two things: Number one, based off that, and then two, based off Alicia and Swizz and their situation, and it just seemed fitting. It was like the perfect concept."

Don't miss the premiere of Nicki Minaj's "Moment 4 Life" video, featuring Drake, Thursday at 7:54 p.m. ET on MTV, followed by a live interview with the Young Money femcee that will continue on MTV.com. Scott Dangerfield's 'American Idol' Audition Wows Jennifer Lopez

'You might be my favorite so far,' J.Lo tells the unassuming student teacher in Milwaukee.

Sometimes talent catches you off guard, and Scott Dangerfield came into his Milwaukee audition on Wednesday's (January 26) "American Idol" episode without a hard-luck tale or a weepy backstory. But he left elevated on a cloud of praise and was dubbed by Jennifer Lopez as her "favorite" contestant thus far.

The first thing the judges noticed about Dangerfield, an unassuming 22-year-old student teacher in Milwaukee, was his lips, and how he appeared to be wearing lipstick. Blushing, he wiped off his lips. "I was kissing one of the girls backstage!" Dangerfield said, prompting Jackson to make a crack about a potential love connection. "More than one destiny is going to be made for me today," Dangerfield joked.

With his shaggy haircut, black framed glasses and bookish outfit — he wore a button-down shirt with the sleeves rolled up and a casual pair of shorts — Dangerfield gave off a slight Clay Aiken vibe, albeit cooler than the season-two contestant. And when he sang, it was similarly surprising: He did Amos Lee's 2005 song "Dreamin' " and infused it with his rich, soulful tone, made smoother by his easygoing style. There were no nerves on display as he sang, and Dangerfield sailed through the audition.

The judges were floored. "You might be my favorite so far," Lopez beamed. "I swear! Wow!" She pushed for a quick vote, giddily bouncing in her chair and repeating "I want to vote!" like a toddler trying to get her way. Yes, Dangerfield managed to turn J.Lo into a pile of mush.

Following Lopez's yes vote, Randy Jackson offered one of his trademark over-the-top endorsements — "hundred million percent yes" is just the same as "100 percent yes," Randy — and Steven Tyler chimed in by saying, "We've been waiting all day for you." But Lopez still wasn't finished gushing: "Keep the hair, keep the glasses, I like all of it," she said, reiterating, "You're my favorite."

In the hallway outside the judges' room, Dangerfield was greeted by a group of friends, to whom he bragged about Lopez's praise, saying it almost caused him to faint. But he had earned his right to gloat: Unlike his namesake Rodney, this Dangerfield got plenty of respect.

Steven Tyler's Best 'American Idol' Quotes From Milwaukee

'Slap that baby on the ass and call me Christmas!' new judge says after one surprising audition.
By Kara Warner

In addition to the excitement and anticipation that is involved in watching the audition rounds of "American Idol," the unexpected remarks that come out of new judge Steven Tyler's mouth are quickly becoming just as (if not more) entertaining to listen to as the contestants' vocal stylings.

We weren't sure Tyler could top last week's performance, but mere minutes into Wednesday's (January 26) episode (after opening the show singing an a cappella "Idol" version of "Sweet Emotion" with Randy Jackson), we knew we were in for another night of Tyler treats. Here are our favorites from the Milwaukee auditions:

» "Slap that baby on the ass and call me Christmas!" Tyler exclaimed after hearing Scotty McCreery's deep-voice rendition of Josh Turner's "Your Man."

» "Well hellfire, save matches, f--- a duck and see what hatches!"

» "You got a certain something. I can't put my finger on it right now, but it's got a lot of character."

» "Dawg is going to turn into a pussycat right now," he said about Jackson, who was debating whether to send a sensitive 15-year-old hopeful through to Hollywood.

» "You could call me 'late for dinner' and I'd still love you," Tyler told Jennifer Lopez after she called him "Steve" and he asked to be called "Steven." "But not lunch."

» After Randy said auditioner Jerome Bell had "all of the isms jumping off," Steven responded, "And none of the 'wasms.' "

» "I found you to be disturbingly great," Tyler said of 27-year-old accountant Steve Beghun. "Weird, compelling, great. Really different."

» "I've never heard anybody squeeze that song, but you squeezed it so slow it sounded like Vanilla Fudge singing 'Eleanor Rigby,' " Tyler told Obama impressionist Albert Rogers.

» "I might be colorblind, but unless you borrowed my lipstick, is that your real lips?" he asked student teacher Scott Dangerfield.

» "Well, you look like you could be one of my ... nope, not gonna say it," he told contestant Alyson Jados, either censoring himself from saying something dirty or maybe suggesting she looked like one of his daughters. Instead, Tyler said, "Friends. [You look like you could be] one of my friends."

Butch Vig 'In Heaven' Over Response To Updated Green Bay Packers Song

Posted: 26 Jan 2011 02:25 AM PST

Producer — and lifelong Packers fan — is basking in team's Super Bowl run and the success of 'Go Pack Go!'
By James Montgomery

Butch Vig
Photo: Jeffrey Mayer/ WireImage

Butch Vig has been producing records for nearly 30 years now, some of which — Nirvana's Nevermind, the Smashing Pumpkins' Siamese Dream, Green Day's 21st Century Breakdown — you're probably familiar with. And while production has certainly brought him fame, it's by no means his first love. After all, he's been a Green Bay Packers fan for a lot longer than three decades.

"I grew up in Wisconsin, and every Sunday during football season, it was like time stopped. You could go downtown and rob a bank, because everybody was watching the Packers play," he laughed. "My dad was way into them, and funnily enough, my mom hated the Packers and loved the Vikings, so that was a dilemma. But I've always loved the Packers, ever since I can remember."

So when you consider the fact that Vig has followed the Pack through their Vince Lombardi-led heyday in the '60s, slow decline (and eventual bottoming-out) in the '70s and '80s, Brett Favre-spurred return to glory in the '90s and their march to Super Bowl XLV this year, his current project makes even more sense. Along with Garbage member Duke Erikson and guitar tech (and fellow Packers nut) Chad Zaemish, he formed a group, the 6 Packers, and recorded an updated version of "Go! You Packers! Go!," the team's long-running fight song.

Listen to the 6 Packers' "Go Pack Go!" now.

And with the Packers' Super Bowl showdown against the Pittsburgh Steelers looming on the horizon, Vig's version of the song — called simply "Go Pack Go!" — has begun picking up steam on Wisconsin rock radio, though the tune's story actually begins four years prior, immediately following a Garbage gig with No Doubt.

"There's a couple different versions of the original [song] that have been played at Lambeau [Field, the Packers' home] for years, and about four or five years ago, we decided to make a new version," Vig explained. "It was on the last Garbage tour. We played a show with No Doubt somewhere, and so in the men's locker room in this arena, I had all the members of Garbage and No Doubt and whoever was around — people on road crew, you know — I just had them record, like, 20 takes [of] 'Go Pack Go!' and I stacked them all to make it sound like it was in a stadium.

"And so we just kind of put it out there, when the Packers went to the NFC Championship Game and lost to the Giants [in 2007], and then Favre left, and in our original version, in the middle break, there were all these references to Favre, so we went back in and did a new version about a month ago, and deleted, of course, any references to Favre," he continued. "And now it's just getting hammered on the radio back in Madison and Milwaukee and Green Bay. And today, there's an article in the State Journal, the Madison newspaper, and the top of the page is Obama's speech, and the bottom of the page, there's a big article about the 6 Packers' 'Go Pack Go!' "

And for a die-hard Packers fan like Vig — who says he's considering taking the 6 Packers down to Super Bowl XLV in Arlington, Texas, to play an impromptu tailgate gig before the big game — the success of "Go Pack Go!" ranks pretty high on his list of accomplishments, though you might be surprised to learn how high.

"The cool thing is, we sent it to the people at Lambeau — I know one of the DJs, Malcolm, who does on-field [music] at Lambeau Field — and when they first got it, Chad and I went to the game, and they played it, like, 15 times during the game," he laughed. "We were just in heaven, and, like, I know I've done Green Day and the Pumpkins and Garbage and whatever, but now I can die a happy man. I've had a song played at Lambeau."

Milwaukee auditioner churns out impressive rendition of Marvin Gaye classic.

Jerome Bell turned out an extra soulful version of R&B great Marvin Gaye's baby-making classic "Let's Get It On" during the "American Idol" Milwaukee auditions and managed to avoid a cheesy cover of a challenging song in favor of a rafter-rattling rendition of the 1973 jam.

Sporting a brown fedora, black jacket, white T-shirt and silver kicks he lovingly referred to as "space boots," the native New Yorker busted out a trill-heavy version of the track as his mother rooted for him outside the audition. Bell, who honed his chops belting at bar mitzvahs and weddings, took the sensual midtempo jam to church with bold, full vocals that he sometimes stretched to a dazzling falsetto, snapping his fingers and bopping his head along the way.

After suffering through a slew of subpar Midwestern hopefuls, the performance turned the judges into believers as well. "Hot, crazy vocals, in tune, control, tender, the right moments," Randy Jackson gushed. "I like you."

Jennifer Lopez concurred, describing Bell's voice as "loud, soft, sweet, powerful."

Jackson summed up the panel's reactions by pointing out Bell got "all of the isms jumping off."

Steven Tyler echoed Jackson's sentiments with his trademark wit, adding that Bell prompted "none of the 'wasms' "

Ultimately, the Aerosmith frontman simply pegged the audition with some impassioned nods of approval and two simple words: "So good."

And just like that, Bell, who said he was just trying to make it to Hollywood, was officially headed West.

Actor will play a branch manager who is 'just as inappropriate as Steve Carell's Michael Scott character.'

Many fans of "The Office" have likely been lamenting the upcoming exit of star Steve Carell since it was announced last summer. Unfortunately, with just a few months left in the funnyman's tenure, that end is very near. However given the popularity of both Carell and the show, it was likely that NBC wouldn't let him depart without a big send-off.

On Wednesday (January 26), it was revealed that Carell's exit from "The Office" will indeed be big. According to , Carell's pal and "Anchorman" co-star Will Ferrell has signed on to appear in a four-episode arc of the comedy series.

Ferrell will reportedly play a branch manager who visits the Scranton, Pennsylvania, branch from the home office and is "just as inappropriate as Steve Carell's Michael Scott character." NBC has not yet announced when those episodes will air, but Ferrell is said to be committed to appear in one episode after Carell's finale.

The Emmy-winning show's executive producer Paul Lieberstein (who also appears on the show as HR executive/ Michael Scott nemesis Toby Flenderson) explained to Deadline that their goal in signing on Ferrell was twofold: to help send off Carell in a big way, but also to help get "The Other Guys" star more exposure.

"We found Steve Carell when he was nothing but a movie star and we turned him into a television star," Lieberstein said. "We are proud to continue 'The Office's' tradition of discovering famous talent, and we hope that once America gets a good look at Will, they'll see what we see. Tremendous raw sexuality."

Book 'em, Diddy?

The hip-hop mogul is scheduled to appear on CBS' "Hawaii Five-0" this spring in an episode where he'll play a detective looking to avenge a crime committed against his family. Music from Diddy-Dirty Money's Last Train to Paris will also be featured in the episode, according to The Associated Press.

Diddy's latest effort debuted in the top 10 on the Billboard albums chart last month. "Anybody that knows me, it's rare when I'm extra happy, but today ... this last two weeks, I've just been blown away by all the support that I've gotten from you guys," the rapper said in a YouTube clip at the time of Paris' release. "You already know I deal with a lot of hate, and I talk about that. But it's also important to talk about when I'm dealing with a lot of love, and the love that y'all have shown me and the girls on this project ... y'all made this project a success, and I want to say thank you."

Recently, Diddy has been making the awards-season rounds, appearing at the Golden Globes despite not earning a nomination for his role in Judd Apatow's "Get Him to the Greek." He told MTV News at the Globes that he hopes to land more comedic roles in the future.

"I've done a lot of drama mostly my whole career, with Broadway and 'Monster's Ball' and stuff like that — my short little career," he said. "But when I did 'Get Him to the Greek,' I really fell in love with making people laugh. I have a knack for improvisation, and hopefully I'll be able to make people laugh more."

'They're not secrets. There's no shame,' 'Dancing With the Stars' pro says about new book, 'Lessons.'
By Mawuse Ziegbe

She's well-known as a "Dancing With the Stars" champ, but now Cheryl Burke is opening up about her struggles off the dance floor.

The championship hoofer is speaking about her past sexual abuse at the hands of a family friend in her book "Dancing Lessons." According to People magazine, Burke was molested by a retired mailman in her Bay Area neighborhood who would occasionally pick her up from school and handle odd jobs around the house and started to abuse her when she was 5. "I'm telling my story," Burke told People. "They're not secrets. There's no shame."

Burke later testified against her abuser once revelations of possible assaults on other children surfaced and also spoke candidly of her ambivalence about taking the stand against him.

"I felt guilty for wanting his love and affection," she explained, adding that taking the stand was "the hardest thing I've ever done ... I saw his face and lawyers were asking me these questions and I was like, 'What am I doing? Did he even do anything wrong?' "

Burke also opens up in the book about the physical abuse she endured from two different ex-boyfriends, and said, "If I can help just one person, for me that's all that matters."

The revealing book, which is co-written by People senior writer Monica Rizzo, also focuses on her "Dancing" tenure and will include lessons she has learned from celebrity dance partners like Drew Lachey and Chad Ochocinco. As expected, Katy Perry is set to release the track "E.T." as her next Teenage Dream single. It follows in the footsteps of smashes like "California Gurls," "Teenage Dream" and "Firework."

Perry made the announcement on her Facebook page, releasing artwork for the single. In the black-and-white photograph, Perry sports blunt bangs, a heavy cat eye and a top that appears to be made of pleather and fish-scale sequins.

"Here's a sneak peek of the artwork for 'E.T.,' the next single off 'Teenage Dream'!" the message says. "Stay tuned for a new music video and remixes coming soon."

While little else is known about the video, Perry has made it her mission to keep releasing memorable clips. "I'm looking forward to making music videos on this new album," she said late last year about Teenage Dream. "There's a story to the songs. ... I'm really excited about ... making those music videos that are going to be larger than life."

Perry has been playing "E.T." live recently. Last month at Z-100's Jingle Ball, the spirited singer joked about the spacey dance track, telling the crowd, "This next song is about falling in love with a foreigner, like far away ... not even in England."

In addition to prepping her next single, Perry has been busy tweeting up a storm about her Grammy performance and California Dreams Tour, which kicks off next month. "Cotton Candy angel is working up a treat you'll NEVER forget for GRAMMY'S & TOUR!" she wrote earlier this week.

Is "E.T." a good choice for Katy Perry's next single? Sound off below!

'American Idol' Judge Steven Tyler Gets Props From Daughters Liv, Mia

'He's saving the show because it was kind of boring before,' model Mia says of 'American Idol' newbie.

Though ratings for "American Idol" are down a bit from last year, one of the brightest spots in season 10 since the first two episodes premiered last week are all of the positive reviews for new judge Steven Tyler.

The Aerosmith singer has already proven to be a witty, funny and unpredictable presence on the show, serving up some instant-classic sound bites and DVR moments in the first two rounds of auditions. And though critics have been quick to jump on the initial ratings slide as proof that perhaps the show is hitting a rut, one of Tyler's daughters, plus-size model Mia, told Life & Style magazine she thinks her dad is the best thing to ever happen to "Idol."

"We're a very sarcastic family," Mia told the celebrity weekly. "He's the funniest man I know. He's saving the show because it was kind of boring before. There's only so many times you can watch Simon be mean to people."

Tyler, 62, has not been shy about batting his lashes at some of the luscious contestants, and Mia said that's because he's having a ball in his new gig. "He loves [being a judge]!" Mia said, explaining that despite his wild and crazy reputation on- and offstage, he's just a regular dad when he's at home.

"He's very protective and gets mad at us for not cleaning the cat litter box — typical dad stuff," she said. "It's so nice to see him up there ... He loves it!"

While appearing at the Sundance Film Festival over the weekend, Mia's half-sister/actress Liv Tyler told "Access Hollywood" that she's a new convert to "Idol" and watches it all the time now, saying she gets "goose bumps" when she sees her dad on the show.

"I was so excited. I never really watched 'American Idol,' " she said. "I watched it with my girlfriends at home the other night and I had goose bumps for an hour and a half and laughed and loved it."

Jimmy Buffett has been hospitalized after falling off the stage during a concert in Sydney on Wednesday night (January 26) local time.

The singer took a spill while strumming "Lovely Cruise," sustaining a head injury after tumbling off the stage mid-performance, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Fans were forced to exit the Hordern Pavilion after the accident, and Buffett was rushed to St. Vincent Hospital about 30 minutes after the fall. The Margaritaville mogul was knocked unconscious, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.

An audience member described the incident to the Telegraph: "We were in the 10th row, and it looked like he did a massive face-plant after his encore and pretty much didn't get up,'' concertgoer Dan Bateman said. "We were told to leave the premises. No one really wanted to leave because everyone was anxious to know if he survived the fall. Everyone was pretty horrified.''

According to a message posted on Buffett's website, the singer is recovering and is expected to leave the hospital soon.

"As you probably already know, Jimmy had an accident while performing in Sydney last night and was taken to the hospital," the statement says. "The doctors say he is doing well and will be released tomorrow. More info as we get it, and thank you for all of your well-wishes!"

The set was one of Buffett's first performances in Australia in two decades. Wednesday night's show was a late addition after the singer capped off two sell-out dates at the Sydney Opera House. The event occurred on Australia Day, which commemorates the founding of the nation, and Buffett reportedly packed the set with tributes to the festive occasion.

When Jay-Z sampled "It's a Hard Knock Life" from the classic Broadway show-turned-movie musical "Annie," who would have guessed it was simply a sneak preview of bigger things to come? It's been announced that Jay has teamed up with Overbrook Entertainment, a film production company whose partners include Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith, James Lassiter and Ken Stovitz.

One of the first projects on the Jay-Z/Overbook agenda will, in fact, be remaking "Annie." After rumors hit the Net about the possibility of the update, Variety confirmed Wednesday (January 26) that Sony will bring the reimagining of the musical about a spirited orphan to the big screen.

Will and Jada plan to make a family affair out of this latest endeavor as their daughter, 10-year-old Willow Smith (who scored a massive hit last year with the infectious "Whip My Hair"), will play the coveted lead role.

In a statement, Jay-Z said of the group's latest venture, "The Overbrook Entertainment family and I have a unified vision," adding, "We're developing a true superstar in Willow."

Willow's rising star (the pint-size singer recently tweeted, "Are you excited for my album?! It's coming soon........VERY soon!!") prompted Columbia Pictures President Doug Belgrad to state, "The time is right to bring back 'Annie' to the big screen. We're true believers in Willow's talent and believe she will be perfect in this role."

Of course, this isn't the first time Jay, Lassiter and the Smiths have teamed up, as the power foursome worked as co-producers on the Tony-nominated Broadway show "Fela!" Nor is it the first time Overbrook (which has pulled in a staggering $2.5 billion in revenue) will make a film featuring one of the Smiths' children. In addition to releasing Will Smith's blockbuster movies including "Hitch" and "Hancock," their son Jaden Smith starred in Overbrook's "The Pursuit of Happyness" and, most recently, a remake of "The Karate Kid."

Wiz Khalifa Tweets Rolling Papers Release Date

Pittsburgh MC announces his hotly anticipated debut is set to drop on March 29.

Wiz Khalifa announced his album title over Twitter on Wednesday night, a name that should earn the Pittsburgh rapper two (green) thumbs up from his Taylor Gang followers.

"Rolling Papers: March 29," he wrote, also revealing the LP's release date.

MTV News' 2010 Hottest Breakthrough MC is set to drop the highly anticipated debut project on Atlantic Records. Last year, after operating independently and raising his profile through a series of mixtapes, Wiz announced on our "RapFix Live" online show that he was joining the label, which is also home to T.I., Paramore and Kid Rock.

The lanky lyricist has a well-known affection for marijuana and, recently, he and fellow smoker Snoop Dogg joined forces for the forthcoming movie and soundtrack project "High School." Still, his love of all things green has led to some trouble for the MC. Last November, Wiz was arrested and booked on drug charges after police apprehended the "Black and Yellow" star following a performance in North Carolina.

Despite his hazy appeal, Wiz has defended his music's merit beyond the stoner aesthetic.

"It's not just the weed. The music is awesome," he told The Source magazine. "The music is great. Just from the beats that I pick, I'm a fan of my producers. They push me. The vibe is so positive, you can be who you want to be. The weed just goes with it. See, when I was in high school, I wasn't in the streets. I had friends that were in the streets, but I just smoked with them. I had straight white kids that I just kicked it with and they smoked more than the kids in the streets. So I kicked it with everybody, but we were all on the same sh-- mentally."

On Thursday, Nicki Minaj will reveal her long-awaited "Moment 4 Life" video on MTV. The clip, which was shot in December in Los Angeles, features Young Money labelmate Drake and is rumored to show the pair playing up their "are they or aren't they?" relationship with a kiss.

The "Moment 4 Life" clip will premiere at 7:54 p.m. ET on MTV.

When MTV News' Sway spoke to Drake on the set of "Moment 4 Life," the MC compared the success of his and Minaj's debut albums to Weezy's opening-week sales of Tha Carter III, saying each subsequent project further cemented the collective's status.

"I think it's crazy that somehow, some higher power brought all these individuals together," Drake said. "I remember being on the [tour] bus when Wayne played me Tha Carter III, which went on to sell a million copies in one week. Then it was Thank Me Later. It was this big pressure, and that went on to sell what it did.

"And now," he continued, "to think of the girl that I used to ride the bus with — and that's what she was to me: this girl that I rode the bus with. I was like, 'Female rap?' And I'm being dead honest with you. [I thought,] 'Man, it's been a while since there's been a female rapper, and I'm curious to see how this works.' It's not that I didn't believe. And she was probably looking at me like, 'This Jew from Canada: I don't know.' "

And now, after the successful debut of Pink Friday, the Toronto lyricist said he couldn't be happier for Minaj.

"It's amazing now to see her come into her own, build this brand and persona," he said. "It's incredible." Don't miss the premiere of Nicki Minaj's "Moment 4 Life" video, featuring Drake, Thursday at 7:54 p.m. ET on MTV, followed by a live interview with the Young Money femcee that will continue on MTV.com. If you have questions for Minaj, tweet them with the hashtag #asknicki or upload a video question to Your.MTV.com.

Diplomats rapper Juelz Santana missed a few appointments last week, among them an appearance on MTV News' "RapFix Live" and a concert in Chicago.

Cam'ron said Santana had a "skin issue" that kept him from the Dipset-themed "RapFix Live," however, it was later revealed Santana was dealing with a legal ordeal: An affiliate of his was arrested at the rapper's New Jersey studio.

In an interview with Chicago's Power 92, the MC apologized for his absence and briefly spoke about the incident.

"It's been some legal issue, I know it's been all over the Internet," Santana told the Hot Boyz radio hosts. "Police ran up in my studio. I had to deal with that and a couple things.

"They always picking on me — that's the best way I can put it," he continued. "But by the graces of God, everything should be OK. I wasn't caught with anything in my possession."

Skull Gang MC Hynief (born Toby M. Raynor) was arrested, with police saying he was in possession of firearms and marijuana.

"Two fully loaded 9mm caliber handguns were found in the recording studio along with several boxes of ammunition. Additionally, seventeen (17) small clear zip-lock bags each containing a greenish brown vegetation, consistent with the appearance of Marijuana, and drug paraphernalia were seized," a spokesperson for the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office said in a statement.

Santana will join Cam'ron, Jim Jones and Freekey Zekey for a Diplomats reunion LP due later this year.
