David Guetta can check Akon, Rihanna and Flo Rida off his list of superstar collabos, but the next possible high-wattage team-up in the works for the producer/DJ may be much more than the clubs can handle.

The French behind-the-boards whiz recently told MTV News that he's been speaking with pop-rock icon Bono about putting his hit-friendly touch on the next U2 project.

"We met with Bono, and I was really excited, really honored because he proposed me to maybe produce some tracks for the next U2 album," Guetta said. The architect of smashes like the Akon-assisted speaker-crusher "Sexy Chick" and the ubiquitous Black Eyed Peas anthem "I Gotta Feeling," Guetta added that he's more than ready to broaden his professional horizons beyond the main-room bangers and R&B-tinged tracks that have netted him tons of fan acclaim and status as a dance-music demigod.

"I've been more and more open to different styles of music, and obviously electronic music is still my main thing, but I just love music. If it's good, it doesn't matter what style," he said. "After those collaborations with all these urban artists, I thought it would be a real challenge for me to try to go in that direction."

But what would a Guetta-helmed U2 jam sound like? The quartet has spent decades blowing minds with their epic yet intimate pop-rock cuts, but how does one marry the fist-pumping, booty-rattling throb of Guetta's body of work with the Dubliners' sensibilities? The DJ told us that's he's already trying to figure that out.

"That's done already," Guetta smiled, admitting that he started tinkering with some sounds in the studio. "I started a few ideas already, yes."

Bono said late last year that U2 are actively exploring a dancefloor-friendly sound in some of their new music, and have also enlisted Broken Bells producer Danger Mouse, Lady Gaga soundsmith RedOne and the Peas' will.i.am to craft some tracks.

"U2's remixes in the 1990s were a real treasure," Bono explained to Australian newspaper The Age in October. "So we wanted to make a club-sounding record. We have a pile of songs."

What do you think a David Guetta/ U2 collabo would sound like? Sound off in the comments!

WEST HOLLYWOOD, California — Reluctantly crouched behind the red carpet line, drag queens primping and taking their time, the flashbulbs go off and the cameras go up, all of them yearning for their chance at the cup!

On Tuesday night, we caught up with the stars of "RuPaul's Drag Race" as they head into battle to see who will be the top drag queen of season three. Amid the glam and sequins in the air, competition was definitely on everyone's mind, so what better time to find out who RuPaul's drag queens predict will rule 2011: Lady Gaga or Britney Spears?

"With Britney and Gaga coming out with new [albums] this year — it's going to be Gaga," Shangela, of season two, predicted. "Gaga runs the world, so Britney better take a seat and enjoy."

Tough words about a woman who has reached the #1 iTunes spot in 19 countries since her new single, "Hold it Against Me," was released a little over a week ago.

season three's Venus D Lite, who could give Madonna a run for her money, stated, "I would probably say Britney — only because Gaga has had her spotlight moment."

However, Raja, also from season three, disagreed: "I'm going to say Gaga. ... She challenges everyone and really puts out new ideas, and I certainly appreciate that."

With both artists set to premiere highly anticipated videos in the next couple of months, fans are waiting to see what new creative visions the stars will bring to the world of pop culture.

"I would love to see [Gaga] just be an artist and not just a character," said Sonique of season two. "With Lady Gaga, you can't really expect anything other than something that is going to be controversial."

season three castmember Mimi Imfurst, who arrived on the red carpet in an epic "worldly" outfit, is definitely on Team Gaga: "Lady Gaga has all the creativity that Britney doesn't have, plus all the talent she doesn't have, so Lady Gaga all the way."

When all is said and done, one thing's for sure: RuPaul's drag queens definitely aren't shy about expressing their opinions. season three of "RuPaul's Drag Race" premieres Monday (January 24) at 10 p.m. ET/PT, 9 p.m. Central on Logo.

Who do you think will conquer 2011: Britney or Gaga? Sound off below!

Diplomats Say Working With Dr. Dre Was 'Humbling'

'It's like real rap school when you're in the booth with him,' Dipset's Jim Jones tells Mixtape Daily.

Cornerstone Credentials: The Diplomats
The Diplomats built their brand of New York-hardened hip-hop in the early 2000s with a slew of rising producers, including then-breakout beatsmiths Just Blaze and The Heatmakerz.

But now that the Harlem brothers are banded together again, the four-man collective of Cam'ron, Jim Jones, Juelz Santana and Freekey Zekey is looking out left for inspiration in legendary West Coast rap architect Dr. Dre. Only time will tell what the results will be, but the process has been unlike anything Dipset has experienced before.

"He definitely made me rap my verse like 33 times," Jones told us this past week about working with the good doctor. "It was cool. It was a great experience."

Cam'ron also experienced Dre's penchant for perfectionism: "He made me get out and do my verse over," he recalled. "He's real intricate. Basically, he was like, 'I want this kind of flow,' and he'll mumble it out," the slick-witted MC continued, explaining the process. "It was like, 'Yo, go do that again; it's terrible.' "

Dre came to work with the crew through the urging of Interscope/Geffen/A&M chairman Jimmy Iovine. According to the rumor mill, Dipset might ink with Iovine's Interscope Records soon. The crew confirmed they met with Iovine and company during their appearance on "RapFix Live." Jones called their chances of joining the Interscope roster "Lou Ferrigno strong."

In the meantime, they're continuing to record and moving on to the next set of producers. Moving forward, however, they're unlikely to repeat the experience they had with Dre.

Jones likened process to something from his younger years. "Humbling is the word," he said of working with The Chronic star. "He made you pronounce your syllables right. It was like school in there. It's like real rap school when you're in the booth with him. You either feel like you're getting better or a student."

Aaron Carter Enters Rehab For 'Emotional' Issues

Manager says 23-year-old singer needed guidance before taking 'musical journey.'
By Gil Kaufman

In the run-up to a reboot of his stalled music career, singer and reality-TV veteran Aaron Carter has entered a treatment facility. The singer's manager, Johnny Wright, revealed in a statement that Carter, 23, younger brother of Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter, checked into the unnamed facility to "heal some emotional and spiritual issues he was dealing with."

People magazine reported that the former "Dancing With the Stars" contestant has been working on an album and a show in Florida, but Wright said the singer "has chosen to enter a facility where he feels he will get the guidance and cleansing he needs. ... Which in turn will help him on the music journey he's about to take."

Citing an unnamed source, E! Online reported that Carter entered a private rehab facility in Southern California earlier this month to treat unspecified "addiction issues." The source said Carter had made the decision to "finally get help" and that it was not court-mandated. Another unnamed source added that Carter was "struggling recently and needed this."

Wright (whose clients have included New Kids on the Block, the Backstreet Boys and Justin Timberlake) also told E! that Carter came to him several months ago looking for a reboot of his musical career. "He has been in Orlando working on a new album and perfecting his live show and his physical body," Wright said. "Aaron, understanding the challenges and hard work it would take to get himself back to the top, requested to take some time before we started, to heal some emotional and spiritual issues he was dealing with."

Though Carter appeared in the 2006 reality show "House of Carters" with his siblings, his out-of-control antics landed him on "Celebrity Rehab 2" later that same year. Carter finished in fifth place on "Dancing With the Stars" in 2009, but his career has been in a holding pattern for a number of years since he released his most recent album, 2002's poorly received Another Earthquake. Carter was arrested in Texas in 2008 for investigation of marijuana possession.

Bobby V Breaks Down 50 Cent Collabo 'Alter Ego'

Crooner says track shows both his 'good' and 'put it on ya' sides.

Bobby V has carved out a career cranking out bedroom burners and teaming up with MCs like Ludacris and Lil Wayne along the way. Usually, he works with the rap stars for the club records and goes solo on the sexy stuff. But for one of his latest sensual cuts, "Alter Ego," the Mississippi crooner combined the hip-hop and R&B worlds by teaming up with 50 Cent.

Bobby stopped by the MTV News office earlier this week, and he explained that even though Fif has amassed his entertainment conglomerate on the strength of his gruff persona, the "Slow Down" crooner said the G-Unit MC's newly toned-down swagger was just right for the record, which dropped late last year.

"I think that he was perfect for that. He's been doing a lot of songs now. He's not really talking about the "shoot 'em, bang, bang" as much more now. He's much more on the ladies' side of things now, so I just felt like it was right on that introductory tip for me and him to kind of collab on that kind of song," Bobby said. The singer added that the Queens MC was amped to jump on the sultry, bass-heavy track. "He heard the record and he was like, 'Man, you know what? I wanna hop on that.' And he did. It came out, he did his verse, he did it real quick and we made it happen."

Bobby — who's prepping both his second mixtape, 60 Minutes More, for a February release and his fourth album, Fly on the Wall, for a March drop date — also broke down the concept of the song, which he explained reflects his multifaceted personality and discusses fulfilling the multiple desires of a lady friend.

"Sometimes you want a missionary man. The other side of me is the crazy man," he said. "One side is the good side, the more 'I'm gonna do things the right way' [side]. The other side of me is the 'I'mma p-p-put it on ya' [side]! It's two different sides. That's my alter ego. I think that every woman, how they feel sometimes, they want a different kind of man. Sometimes they might want the candles lit, and they may want it slow and relaxing and bubble baths and all of the nice things. And sometimes they want you to pull their hair and woo-de-woo-woo-woo-woo crazy. So it just depends on the woman, the time and the place."

Kanye West has a busy 2011 ahead.

The superstar MC tweeted about a slew of forthcoming releases on Sunday (January 23), and revealed that not only will his joint album with Jay-Z drop soon, but fans can expect a follow-up to November's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy once the weather heats up.

"I'll be back this SUMMER!!!!!!!!!!! WATCH THE THRONE COMING IN 2 MONTHS!!!!!!!!!! 'Ye tweeted, adding that just months after the release of Fantasy he's gearing up for another solo outing. "MY NEW ALBUM COMING THIS SUMMER."

Yeezy also divulged that the visual to his colossal Fantasy posse cut, "All of the Lights," would be available soon, tweeting, "ALL THE LIGHTS VIDEO IN 1 WEEK!!!!!!" The Chicago rapper/producer also hinted that the vibe of his forthcoming tracks may have a classical touch, saying, "THIS IS HIGH END RAP MUSIC. I just threw some bassoon on this muthaf---a."

Jay-Z dished to MTV News in November that the duo's collaborative work will showcase 'Ye's finely tuned production skills.

"This is another level of that recording," Hov explained. "Because Kanye, I've seen him — really he's like a brother to me — I've seen him from the beginning to where he is now. And to see him as a producer and to see how he's growing as a producer and as an artist, for me, on another level, it's enjoyable. I'm watching the guy that I pretty much mentored become his own guy, with his own opinion. It's fantastic."

Frequent 'Ye and Jay collaborator Swizz Beatz has echoed Hov's "another level" description, telling MTV News earlier this month that judging from the Throne sessions he's participated in, the rap titans — who have already dropped the Lex Luger-produced single "H.A.M." — are "going to continue pushing the envelope."

"People don't understand that hip-hop got started from being rebellious to any rules," Swizz said. "Hip-hop has no rules, and the only reason hip-hop started getting rules [was] because of radio airplay, sales, different spins and trying to reach out to another audience. But Jay and Kanye got the audience already so they can do what they want to do, and I think that's what they doing, which is a great move."

On Sunday (January 23), two of the Kardashian sisters will kick off the new season of their newest E! show, "Kourtney & Kim Take New York." And if you thought there was drama in L.A., then you should brace yourself for their ups, downs and Kanye encounters in the Big Apple.

This season, serial monogamist Kim decided that she'd play the field for once, and she admits that the experiment had mixed results. "Well, because it is the first time that I'm single," she told MTV News. "I never have been single in my life. So [after] getting married as a teenager and then getting into a relationship, each lasting like four years — after that, something inside of me, I just felt like I wanted to be single.

"I only was, like, really dating one guy on the show, but I learned the hard way that maybe a few guys that I would go out to eat with probably wanted to be with me for other reasons than getting to know me. It was more about being on a show," she continued. "I decided to be super open about that."

And while Kim was putting herself back on the market, she also ended up living with Kourtney and Scott Disick, Kourtney's baby daddy, which was "not really what I set it out to be," she said. "But it turned out to be amazing.

"New York is a little more hectic, so when we would go out and film there was just paparazzi and fans, but it was just a little too hectic for a baby," Kim added of the choice to not include baby Mason on the show. "In L.A., it's our home, so it's more comfortable for him."

Previews of the series show Scott looking at engagement rings. Does that mean these two crazy kids will finally take the plunge? "You are going to have to watch," Kourtney teased. "There's no ring on my finger, and I'm just happy the way things are."

Regardless of the outcome of the AFC Championship Game on Sunday (January 23), Wiz Khalifa has something to celebrate.

The MC was tapped to kick off the match with his smash hometown anthem, "Black and Yellow," before his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers hit the gridiron. The Kush & OJ lyricist told MTV News in an e-mail before Sunday's show that rocking the crowd as his team faced-off for a chance to head to the Super Bowl was a long-held goal.

"Awesome, can't even explain it," Khalifa said of hitting the stage at the event. The "Mezmerized" MC also admitted that just hearing his platinum smash pump through the Steelers' stadium speakers was an incredible experience. "Aw man, it feels great. It's like a dream come true," he said. "I hoped this day would come but I never thought it would be a reality."

Even though he's had to weather a brief moratorium on "Black and Yellow" spins in New York over the weekend, Khalifa always went hard for his city.

"I've always had that Pittsburgh pride. I just wanted to let people know where I'm from and represent any way I can, and what better way than through our colors?" Wiz said in a statement released by his label when news of the AFC gig surfaced. "I took that hometown pride and put it in a song."

Of course, he had some help channeling that hometown love into a chart-ruling smash. The MC gave props to Swedish production team Stargate for adding their hit-friendly touch to the track.

"They know how to make hits, man," he said of the producers. "They know how to put a song together. So I learned to do my part and let them do their part. And that's when it goes crazy. 'Cause I do a lot of different things when I record my music. And they go back and we narrow it down. And that's how those big songs come out."

Avril Lavigne is officially back, and if her latest video "What The Hell" is anything to go by, she's still brimming with the pop-punk spunk that made her a superstar nearly a decade ago. But she's definitely grown up a bit in the last few years.

The clip, which premiered on Sunday night (January 23) on the ABC Family website, kicks off with Lavigne and a guy friend waking up in his bedroom — with the Canadian rocker vamping it up in some lacy lingerie. After draping one of his shirts over her shoulders and spraying on some her Forbidden Rose perfume, Lavigne carjacks an NYC taxi as her guy takes off after her on a bike.

As she belts the chorus, "All my life, I've been good, but now/ I'm thinking, 'What the hell,' " Lavigne hops out of the cab and lets the still-moving vehicle roll into a parked car. Then she saunters onto a basketball court, briefly feels up some beefy guys, scores a basket and runs off to a vintage store. Her guy follows her through the racks of clothing — Lavigne picks up some clothes from her Abbey Dawn range — then they're at a nightclub where Lavigne rocks out with her band and eventually crowd surfs into the arms of her waiting boy toy. The video wraps up with the couple crashing playfully into bed.

When MTV News recently caught up with Lavigne, the rocker broke down the concept for the video, explaining she essentially spends the nearly four-minute-long clip keeping her man in hot pursuit while she gets into some good-natured scrapes.

"The music video for 'What the Hell': It's kind of a guy chasing me around, and I hop into a random cab, and he's chasing me," Lavigne explained. "And I go through a clothing store and he chases me, but at the end of the video, it's really just me having a bunch of fun with him, and he's my boyfriend, so I like him in the end."

The video, which is the lead single from her upcoming Goodbye Lullaby album, is also significant because Lavigne laced the visual with some eye-popping special effects.

"The music video's in 3-D, and my favorite part of the video is the rock-out scene at the end where I jump onstage and I'm with my band," she said. "When we shot it and I got to watch it back in 3-D with the glasses and actually you can see the crowd's hands and it felt like you were live in a crowd, so it was kind of cool."

After a three-year hiatus, Lavigne also said she was amped to be back on the scene and watch her single climb the charts.

"I'm just really excited to be back," the former teen star said. "It's been a few years, and I'm excited to see that 'What the Hell' [is] doing good so far on iTunes and [with] the fans. The response has been really great, so I'm happy."

James Franco Takes Dramatic Look At '70s Series 'Three's Company'

Franco had a unique way of introducing his film at the Sundance Film Festival.
By Terri Schwartz

PARK CITY, Utah — James Franco is nothing if not ambitious. The 32-year-old actor is balancing several upcoming film roles, a teaching gig at Yale and the likelihood of being nominated for his first Oscar with a new meta-art piece at the Sundance Film Festival. Franco's "Three's Company: A Drama" premiered in the New Frontier program of the fest in an attempt to, in Sundance's words, view the 1970s sitcom from "a slightly oblique perspective."

So Franco decided to re-create the first three episodes of "Three's Company" at Sundance, sans the laugh track, and play it up for its dramatic value. His film was then projected up onto four screens in the theater so that it surrounds the audience. To add to the effect, Franco re-created the living room set in which so much of "Three's Company" takes place as the theater area where the audience watches the film.

"I was just thinking, back in the day, when people were watching that show, people were probably sitting in their living room watching these other people in their living room, so I thought, let's suck the audience into their living room and then there's projections on all four walls," Franco explained. "And it's not just seeing the show on all four walls. It's like, Chrissy's on this side, and Janet's on this side, and you're in the middle."

New Frontier advertises itself as a program that "explores narrative structure, the three-dimensionality of the cinematic image, and innovations in transmedia storytelling." If the 1970s television series seems like a strange launching pad for such an introspective look at television, you probably wouldn't be more confused watching what Franco came up with than Eliza Dushku and Rick Fox were in this video.

But even though Franco is trying to play his analysis of the sitcom as a serious drama, he isn't taking the entire project without some elements of humor. He donned a Suzanne Somers wig at the installation's afterparty, sang the "Three's Company" theme song during the art exhibit, and then tried to teach MTV News' Josh Horowitz how to improvise the theme song's lyrics to make them as graphic and inappropriate as possible. Let's just say Franco was a bit more imaginative than Horowitz was willing to be in front of the cameras.

'Avengers' Star Chris Hemsworth Says Movie's Script Is 'Massive'

'You have these huge, big superheroes and huge, big egos crammed into one small space,' 'Thor' actor says.
By Terri Schwartz

PARK CITY, Utah — Two of the most exciting films coming out in 2011 are undoubtedly "Thor" and "Captain America: The First Avenger," the last two individual Marvel comic book films to be released before "The Avengers" hits theaters in 2012. Since the reveal of the "Avengers" lineup at San Diego Comic-Con over the summer, fans have been wondering how director Joss Whedon will bring together the many characters of the Marvel comic book universe into one succinct film.

Chris Hemsworth, who plays the titular Norse god in "Thor," was at the Sundance Film Festival when MTV News caught up with him to talk about the upcoming films. He said that he has seen an early copy of the "Avengers" script, that it's "incredible," and it gave him a good sense of what he could expect to see for the film.

"Everything about the story and the comic books is huge. You have these huge, big superheroes and huge, big egos crammed into one small space," Hemsworth said. "Reading the script, it was massive. Everything about it was like, 'Oh my god.' I said to Joss, I said, 'I don't know how you're going to shoot this thing [laughs], but I'm excited to be onboard and let's give it a go."

Though he was a presenter at the Golden Globes alongside his fellow Avenger Chris Evans and saw Robert Downey Jr. there later in the night, Hemsworth said he and his castmates haven't had a chance to chat about the film since the casting announcement in July. The cast (Hemsworth, Evans, Downey Jr., Samuel L. Jackson, Mark Ruffalo, Clark Gregg, Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner) had a "very brief sort of, in amongst the madness, sort of introduction" at Comic-Con, Hemsworth said.

Despite that, Hemsworth teased that fans can expect "a hell of a lot of friction" between the many superheroes coming together in "The Avengers." Though he acknowledged that Thor and the Hulk got into their fair share of tangles in the comic books (adding fuel to the rumor that the Avengers will be fighting the Hulk in the upcoming film), Hemsworth wouldn't say for sure which Avenger would get on Thor's bad side.

He was also playing mum on the rumor that Renner would be making a cameo appearance in "Thor" as Hawkeye. "Maybe," he answered, with a twinkle in his eye. "I don't know. I can't deny or say I know anything."

He did admit that he never saw Renner in costume on the set (so Hawkeye will appear but not in costume?), but then went on to say he never saw Renner on the "Thor" set at all.

"I don't know if he's in 'Thor.' I haven't seen the cut yet, and he wasn't on set when I was there, but he may be in the final one," Hemsworth said with finality. "He's certainly in 'The Avengers.' I had a chat with him at Comic-Con and he's as excited as the rest of us."

50 Cent Discusses His Transition From Music To Acting

Posted: 23 Jan 2011 01:19 AM PST

'The first time I came here, I was here as additional talent,' Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson told us at Sundance Film Festival.
By Terri Schwartz

PARK CITY, Utah — For most performers, transitioning from music to film can be an uphill battle. Just ask Lance Bass, Mariah Carey and Jessica Simpson. But for every singer who failed to find his or her stride, there's one who didn't. Mark Wahlberg went from Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch to a potential Oscar nominee, Beyoncé Knowles has garnered so much clout that she's about to be directed by Clint Eastwood in a remake of "A Star Is Born," and the only thing left to remind audiences that Will Smith used to rap is that music video at the end of "Men in Black."

Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson is trying to join the latter group. He returned to the Sundance Film Festival for the third time to represent his production company, Cheetah Vision Films — the company that produced the Chace Crawford-starring film "Twelve," which was purchased at Sundance last year — and talked to MTV News about his experience trying to transition into acting.

"The first time I came here, I was here as additional talent. Music. Now, to be here, to actually be a part of the filmmaking process, is great," 50 said.

50 Cent is best known as the rapper who likes to party "In da Club," so he was careful not to alienate his music fans when he transitioned over to film. That, he explained, is why he uses the name "Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson" rather than just Curtis Jackson when making films. His name is directly associated with his music, and he said that wasn't something he was trying to downplay with his film career.

But it's still a work in progress. By returning to Sundance year after year, 50 Cent is proving that he's taking his acting career as seriously as he does his music. He said he surrounds himself with directors looking to help him develop his acting abilities so the public will continue to accept him as an actor.

"With each individual project, I work with someone that makes sure I'm completely prepared for it," the rapper and actor said. "I feel like I'm growing. When the projects get bigger and better, the public will start to shift and treat [it] like anyone else's progress."

Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher's romantic comedy about two pals that decide to take their relationship to the bedroom scored the top spot at the box office over the weekend, raking in $20.3 million. Kutcher told MTV News recently that despite their theater-packing performances, becoming "sex friends" with Portman onscreen was not the most comfortable experience.

"There weren't really any bloopers," he said. "It's always sort of awkward and giggly, right? Because you're there and you're with someone you sort of know, and there's a lot of people watching," he explained of the awkward factor involved in filming love scenes. "It's always kind of in-between scenes you try to make jokes and divert it, 'Oh it's not a big deal,' try to make it seem like it's not a big deal."

In second place is Seth Rogen's turn as the classic masked vigilante in the "The Green Hornet." The onscreen take on the beloved crime-fighter's adventures picked up $18.1 million over the weekend. The figure adds to the flick's total box-office bank of over $63 million.

"The Dilemma" finished the weekend in third place. The relationship comedy, which stars Kevin James a clueless husband and Vince Vaughn his buddy and business partner who struggles with whether to let him know his wife is cheating on him, scored $9.7 million. The figure kicks the film's total estimated tally to over $33 million.

Just behind "The Dilemma" is "The King's Speech." The Colin Firth vehicle, which is inspired by the wartime reign of British monarch King George VI, made $9.1 million. The film has picked up over $58 million since landing in theaters late last year.

In fifth place is the star-studded Western "True Grit." Featuring performances from Matt Damon, Jeff Bridges and acclaimed newcomer Hailee Steinfeld, the movie made $8 million over the weekend. The film's total estimated haul now stands at around $138 million.

Liam Hemsworth On Competing For Roles With Brother Chris

PARK CITY, Utah — Though Chris Hemsworth has long been booked for the titular role in the upcoming film adaptation of the Marvel comic book "Thor," there was a time when the casting choice was a toss-up between him and his younger brother Liam. Liam Hemsworth, who recently turned 21 and is best known for playing Miley Cyrus' costar-turned-real-life boyfriend in "The Last Song," was at the Sundance Film Festival with his older brother and told MTV News about his experience when testing for the role.

The younger Hemsworth admitted that at this point in time, the brotherly rivalry has passed and he and Chris are just happy that one of them got the role. But at the time, it had been Liam who was called back first by director Kenneth Branagh.

"At the time, I remember we both read for it, and I got flown over to do a screen test for it," Liam said. "I got flown for a screen test and he didn't and then, I mean, I didn't get it, but he got called back."

At Comic-Con last summer, Chris Hemsworth also acknowledged the fact that Liam had been called back for the "Thor" role first. But he said there wasn't any awkwardness, since "the majority of the time in this business, we're sort of pinching ourselves."

Chris added, "I'm excited for him and vice versa. Through that process, I was giving him advice on what I thought Ken wanted — and then when I was in there testing, he was doing the same."

But just because he wasn't cast as the God of Thunder doesn't mean that Liam's film career is hurting. After "The Last Song," the Aussie was cast in the lead role in the upcoming film "The Throwback" as well as the adaptation of "Arabian Nights." He also teased that he's read the script for the upcoming adaptation of Suzanne Collins' hit young adult series and is interested in playing the male lead, Peeta.

As for playing a superhero, Liam isn't ruling it out. "Who knows what's going to happen?" he said.

PARK CITY, Utah — The boxer, the rapper and their film production company. No, it's not the plot of a movie being screened at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival. It was Floyd Mayweather Jr. and 50 Cent in Park City to promote the launch of Mayweather Productions.

Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson and Mayweather, alongside actor Terrence Howard (who was at the festival to promote his latest film, "The Ledge"), sat down with MTV News' Josh Horowitz to discuss their joint venture, and more specifically, partying it up at Sundance.

After talks of hitting the town, with or without wedding rings (to which 50 Cent joked, "I can't condone this type of activity!"), the "craziest interview of Sundance" continued with talk of why they were really there. "We're just celebrating the launch of Mayweather Films," 50 explained.

Mayweather then grabbed the mic and said, "We're going to do what we normally do: sit in a room and brainstorm and try to come up with new ideas ... you know, outside the box. Be creative and just work together and try to be positive. That's the main thing. It's about working hard, being positive and working together."

While Howard, who sat between 50 and Mayweather throughout the interview, had no immediate plans to work with Mayweather Films, he did express interest in seeing the boxing champ in his other line of work. "I just wanna see Mayweather in that ring again!" the Oscar-nominated actor exclaimed. "That's what I wanna see again. That's the project."

A Tribe Called Quest Support Michael Rapaport Documentary

It looks like A Tribe Called Quest and director Michael Rapaport have found a way to agree on the ATCQ documentary.

Over the past few weeks, frontman Q-Tip has been sounding off about the indie flick, maintaining that he "was not in support" of the doc in early December. The Abstract later clarified his statements, explaining that "there were just different things that need to be done, edit-wise," but insisting, "the sentiment of the film is there. We feel like it's 80 percent there."

However, it looks like the filmmakers and Tribe, who also serve as producers on the film, have resolved their issues. Just before the Saturday Sundance Film Festival world premiere of the project, which chronicles the foursome's reunion for the 2008 Rock the Bells Tour, the group released a statement pumping up the project.

"Thanks to our fans for their support through the years and for the enthusiasm around the documentary. We hope that the film's perspective conveys our love of hip-hop culture. We could not attend Sundance, but we want to express our love and appreciation for the support that we have received in advance of the film's premiere tonight. We hope that it is well received," Ali Shaheed Muhammad, Jarobi and Q-Tip, who weren't able to attend the premiere, said in a statement. Phife attended the screening.

Rapaport, who has an extensive acting résumé to his credit peppered with roles in movies such as "Bamboozled" and "Mighty Aphrodite," has also explained his intentions for the flick.

"I wanted it to be a classic rock-and-roll-style documentary," Rapaport told MTV News earlier this month. "If you grew up listening to hip-hop and you were around A Tribe Called Quest, it was a part of your life.

"They are the equivalent to Led Zeppelin, the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. I've been fans of those groups and fans of documentaries about those groups for a long time, and when I approached doing this film, I wanted to treat it in the same way. I didn't want it to be over-produced; I wanted it to have a rawness to it."

'Hangover' Star Ed Helms Explains Bill Clinton 'Cameo'

PARK CITY, Utah — Bad news for "Hangover" fans looking forward to seeing former president Bill Clinton make a cameo appearance in the film's upcoming sequel "The Hangover, Part 2": The movie's star Ed Helms said it's not going to happen. Despite reports in November stating the contrary, Helms told MTV News at the Sundance Film Festival that Clinton's visit to the Thailand set was merely that, and it probably won't result in a film appearance.

The rumor started when People magazine reported that Clinton had stopped by the set of the Todd Phillips film when he was in Thailand giving speeches on clean energy and meeting with world leaders. But, according to Helms, it was misreported that Clinton actually shot a scene for the movie.

"He came and visited us," Helms told MTV. "I'd be surprised if there's a scene in the movie."

Clinton was just one of many stars who reportedly have shot cameos for the film. After Mel Gibson's cameo as a Bangkok tattoo artist fell through, Liam Neeson replaced him in the role. It was also announced that Paul Giamatti would join the cast in Thailand to film a small role, and "Real World: San Diego" alum Jamie Chung will be playing Helms' onscreen fiancé. Last but not least, Mike Tyson is returning in a role that's become much more than just a simple cameo.

"We had a good time," Helms said about working with Tyson again. "A little bit of a reunion of sorts."

Though Helms did break our hearts with the news that the Clinton cameo won't actually happen, he did have a bit of information to share about the film's notoriously secret plot. He explained that the film is "almost real time from the first movie to this one," leading us to believe that part two will pick up two years after "The Hangover" ended. That sounds like a good opportunity to explain why Helms' character, Stu, dumped his stripper-with-a-heart-of-gold girlfriend (played by Heather Graham) and is marrying Chung instead.
