Lil Wayne Calls Shooting 'Welcome To My Hood' Video 'Scary'

Even though the track "Welcome to My Hood" dropped just two weeks ago, DJ Khaled wasted no time getting his superstar homies to the M.I.A. to shoot the accompanying video.

Khaled — along with Lil Wayne, Plies, Rick Ross and T-Pain — headed to the Overton area of Miami on Thursday to shoot the 'hood-centric visual and told MTV News that the clip will reflect the same rugged bombast of the posse cut.

"We going in," he said, with his trademark hype-the-hell-out-of-everything energy. "This the movie: 'Welcome to My Hood,' biggest record in the country, hurtin' the streets right now."

Director Gil Green, who has helmed tons of Khaled visuals, said the video will demonstrate what the Miami DJ is known for: packing his visuals with A-list hip-hop names.

"DJ Khaled, he always brings the all-star team, and that's what he's doing today," he said. Green added that he was on hand to add artistic finesse to the clip. "We shooting a movie-type video — a lot of cinematic camera work and flavor and a lot of 'hood stuff."

Frequent Khaled collaborator T-Pain said the single from the We the Best Forever star's first Cash Money project is a follow-up to another major record, which also features the Auto-Tune king, alongside Trick Daddy, Ross and Plies.

"This one's special, 'cause everyone was asking for 'I'm So Hood' part two, and that's what we giving everybody," Pain explained. "So, you know, in due time, we gonna get to everyone's request, but right now, we just working on 'I'm So Hood' part two, 'Welcome to My Hood.' It's part two, and it's gonna do just as good as 'I'm So Hood.' "

"I'm So Hood (Remix)" alum Wayne was also around for the fun — although he did cop to getting shaken up while filming one of the scenes on a raised platform.

"We just shot a shot up there; it was super scary," Weezy said. "I don't know about these n---as, but I'm scared of heights."

Aside from briefly facing his fear for a dope "Hood" shot, Wayne, who was accompanied by Cash Money boss Birdman and Young Money honcho Mack Maine, maintained he was feeling good otherwise and admitted he had another mission to tackle off set: finding ladies.

"I'm fresh out," he said. " ... Holla at ya boy if you see me in the streets, baby."

'American Idol' Experts Talk Steven Tyler, Early Faves

'Idol' watchers praise New Orleans standouts and a Simon-less panel that seems to 'having a blast.'

Despite less-than-stellar initial ratings, "American Idol" is coming out of the blocks for its 10th season with something even more important than audience share, particularly for a reality show hitting late middle age, and that's buzz.

With a format that is well-beyond familiar by now, the injection of fresh blood via new judges Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez has amped up the watercooler talk for a show that some had predicted was on the decline. Despite fears that the show would stumble without the harsh guiding hand of departed go-to judge Simon Cowell, MTV News' , said instead of mourning the loss of King Cowell, he's praising the rise of Tyler.

"If anything, Steven Tyler's wacky addition proved that it's not a 'mean judge' that keeps me jazzed for 'Idol.' It's an unhinged one," said Cantiello about the entertaining, unpredictable shenanigans pulled out by Tyler in the first two nights of audition episodes this week. "Truth be told, I never realized how much I missed Paula [Abdul] last year. Tyler's colorful language, zany metaphors and deafening jangly man-jewelry was just the entertaining wild card the two-night premiere needed to give it a must-see facelift."

Cantiello was glad that the new trio, which also includes sole returning judge Randy Jackson, didn't fall into the same old "mean Simon" and "too-nice Paula" tropes. Lopez easily mixed Abdul's sweetness with an undercurrent of Cowell's honesty, while Tyler deftly pinwheeled between wacky Paula-isms amid stinging putdowns. And already he's delivered one of the season's top lines in his zinger to belcher Michael Perotto courtesy of "Tommy Boy": "Did you eat a lot of paint chips as a child?"

MJ Santilli, founder of one of the leading "Idol" blogs, MJsBigBlog.com, agreed with Cantiello, calling Tyler the "breakout" star on the show so far. "The new panel seems to be having a blast," she said. "Fun has been sorely missing from the judges' table the past couple of years. Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez's enthusiasm has energized Randy Jackson. The fresh, new panel has me not missing Simon Cowell at all. Yet."

The real test, though, will be when the show goes live on March 1, which will provide proof of whether the apparent camaraderie among the three is real or the product of clever editing.

But what about, you know, the singers, who are ostensibly the focus of the show? Santilli said the New Jersey singers on Wednesday night were mostly weak, but maybe that was because they held back the best stuff in order to let the new panelists shine and get some traction. "The New Orleans hopefuls had more standouts," she said of Thursday night's bunch. "At least, there are a couple that I remember, like the two teen tenors, Brett Loewenstern and Jacee Badeaux."

With the age limit dropped to 15 this year, Santilli suspects the producers are gunning for a teen winner in season 10, but with high schoolers having struggled in the live shows last year, it's unclear if the young'uns can handle the pressure of performing in front of an audience.

With less jokey singers and a higher talent ratio on Thursday night, Cantiello also thought New Orleans offered up some promising contestants we might see again in Hollywood. "I can't say I'm looking forward to another three weeks of audition episodes, though," he added. "Let's get to the live shows already!"

Cam'ron Reveals Why He Took Shots At Kanye West

Not long after the Diplomats reunited and started working together again last year, it seemed like Cam'ron and Jim Jones were up to their old tricks again as they released a freestyle over Kanye West's "Runway" production.

In an online clip of the rowdy pair in the studio, Cam'ron takes a couple of shots at 'Ye before he lays his verse. A couple of months later, though, in a puzzling move, West recruited Cam and Capo for his "Christmas in Harlem" track. According to Cam, however, there had only been a minor disagreement between the two in the first place. And that rift has since been patched up.

"The reason I took a shot at Kanye, he needed something done for his album [a couple of years ago, and] when he needed it, I sent it back to him in about an hour," Cam told MTV News during his appearance with Dipset on "RapFix Live" on Thursday. The Harlem MC was referring to the song "Gone" from West's 2007 LP, Late Registration.

"I needed something for my record and he was in Honolulu; he has to do this, he has to do that," Cam recalled. "And I'm one of those people, I do a favor for a favor. When you need it, I got it back to you. When I needed something, you couldn't get back to me?"

Eventually matters were settled with help from Don C., a Yeezy insider who has a longstanding relationship with Cam'ron. Now, with their differences mended, the Diplomats frontman suggested they could work together again soon — possibly for the Harlem collective's reunion project.

"We good now," Cam said.

Jennifer Lopez's 'On The Floor' Video To Be An 'Underground Party'

This weekend, Jennifer Lopez is set to film the music video for her club banger "On the Floor." MTV News was at auditions in L.A., where some of the area's most skilled and unique dancers showed up to see if they might make the final cut for the video.

On Thursday, the video's director, Taj, revealed what he was looking to capture in the clip: "Originality, being you. This song is about being who you want. It's about letting loose. There's no explanation. This is this underground video, this underground party."

Choreographer Frank Gatson Jr. gushed over the chance to work with the new "American Idol" judge on the clip. "I love working with J.Lo," he said. "She's a sweetheart. She understands the business."

Gatson also talked a bit about what the crew has in mind for the video's funky vibe. "I kind of get the feeling that she wants us to be in the club after 2 a.m. in L.A.," he revealed. "That's so amazing. [It's like] everybody had some watermelon and the watermelon made them high, it gave them a little buzz — but a good buzz, a real magical buzz, a dance buzz, a buzz that makes you feel like fried chicken, so she just wants everybody to have a good old time.

"The club must have this vibe, where you get on the floor and everybody's bringing it," he added. "We've seen so many club videos, but we want to see a club video with a vibe unique to Jennifer Lopez."

"On the Floor" producer RedOne recently talked to MTV News about the track. "Of course, she's global. She's a global artist," he said. "She's a global actress, and the music has to be global, and the rhythmic side of it or the Latin and this thing of a dancer [all has to be there].

"She said, 'I want to dance. I want to make people dance and be able to sing with me.' That's what we did, and it feels good. I think we're going to have a big one."

Does 'Breaking Dawn - Part 1' Title Card Reflect Movie's Tone?

Summit Entertainment says each 'Twilight' film's color scheme has meaning.
By Kara Warner

"The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1"
Photo: Summit

In the spirit of the old adage "When it rains, it pours," a flurry of "Twilight" news and imagery has hit the Internet over the past two weeks. Things kicked off last week with the release of the first photo from "Breaking Dawn - Part 1," which showed the film's paramours, Robert Pattinson's Edward and Kristen Stewart's Bella, in a very romantic moment on the night after their wedding. Shortly after that photo set "Twilight" fan eyes popping and hearts racing, MTV News was lucky enough to catch up with Pattinson himself at the Golden Globe Awards to get his thoughts on the steamy-looking photo.

On Friday (January 21), Summit Entertainment released yet another early gift for the millions of "Twilight" fans, the official title card for the first part of "Breaking Dawn."

Keeping with the tradition and look of the first three films, "Twilight," "New Moon" and "Eclipse," this "Dawn" title card has the same font (its official name is Zephyr) that fans have come to know and love. And while the card for "Twilight" was red, "New Moon" was gold and "Eclipse" was shiny silver, this card for Part 1 of "Dawn" is a reddish orange — the color of, well, the sky as dawn breaks. According to Summit, each card has a unique color to reflect the tone of the story.

So judging from this intense color, what might we expect from the film that we don't already know about? Those who've read and obsessed over Stephenie Meyer's novels know that the conclusion to the "Twilight Saga" packed a punch, complete with a vampire transformation, a marriage, a baby and a battle.

What do you think of the "Breaking Dawn - Part 1" title card? What scenes are you most excited to see in the film? Tell us in the comments!

It looks like Snoop Dogg isn't the only fan of Wiz Khalifa's music.

The upstart rapper has been tapped by the NFL's Pittsburgh Steelers to perform his breakout hit "Black and Yellow" before the team's AFC championship game against the New York Jets on Sunday. (Meanwhile, in New York, DJs like Funkmaster Flex have banned "Black and Yellow" for the weekend.)

One of MTV News' 11 for 11, the MC will take to Pittsburgh's Heinz Field prior to the game's 6:30 p.m. ET kickoff in hopes of helping the Steelers return to the Super Bowl.

"I've always had that Pittsburgh pride. I just wanted to let people know where I'm from and represent any way I can, and what better way than through our colors?" Wiz said in a statement released by his label. "I took that hometown pride and put it in a song."

The news is just the latest is a line of accomplishments for the young lyricist. Earlier this month, Wiz and Snoop released a video for "That Good," the pair's first single from "High School," their forthcoming collaborative movie and soundtrack.

Late last year, the two breezy stars first joined forces for the G-mix "Black and Yellow" remix.

As a longtime Steelers fan, Snoop had no problem giving it up on the Pit anthem. The Los Angeles native even donned the signature colors in the clip alongside Wiz, who sported a Steelers fitted hat, Pittsburgh Pirates jacket and custom Taylor Gang sweater in — what else? — black and yellow.

What do you think of Wiz's hometown anthem? Let us know in the comments!

J.K. Simmons Reveals 'Spider-Man 4' Character Arc

'J. Jonah Jameson was going to be somehow exiled or disgraced or demoted,' actor tells MTV News at Sundance of scrapped film.

PARK CITY, Utah — We'll probably never know the full extent of what Sam Raimi had planned for "Spider-Man 4," including widespread rumors that John Malkovich would play the villain Vulture. Sony Pictures bailed on the project early last year and is currently rebooting the franchise with Marc Webb in the director's chair.

But pieces of Raimi's aborted "Spider-Man" puzzle could drip out in the future. In fact, J.K. Simmons, who played Daily Bugle head honcho J. Jonah Jameson, kicked MTV News a puzzle piece when he outlined his character's planned arc for the flick.

"J. Jonah Jameson was going to be somehow exiled or disgraced or demoted and end up in some little cubicle somewhere and be railing, even more than usual, against the world," Simmons told us at the Sundance Film Festival.

The actor was in town to promote "The Music Never Stops," a moving drama about a man whose brain tumor renders him unable to differentiate past from present. But our talk inevitably turned to the "Spider-Man" that will never be, and Simmons admitted he was sad to see his version of the franchise die off — not least because it meant he wouldn't get to cash that hefty check.

"I'm still reeling from the rug being pulled out of us," he said. "I had just bought a house I can't afford!"

Shortly before Sony pulled the plug, Simmons had been eying work on another three "Spider-Man" films and was having creative meetings with Raimi.

"There wasn't a script-script yet, but I had seen Sam a few weeks before that and we talked about story ideas, because on those movies, we always started on the script and we expanded on it," he explained. "There was a lot of either us coming up with stuff in the room or doing it literally on set — a lot of improv-y stuff with the whole cast in those office scenes."

Simmons added: "He was saying, 'This is the basic outline, now go bring me funny stuff.' "

Two episodes into the new season of "American Idol," fans are weighing in on the show's newest judges: rock icon Steven Tyler and Hollywood triple threat Jennifer Lopez. Having already judged talent in New Jersey and New Orleans, some of Lopez's biggest fans are loving what the New York native is bringing alongside side Tyler and "Idol" vet Randy Jackson at the table.

"She looked amazing. She looked clean. She looked fresh," Falon Johnson told MTV News at auditions for J.Lo's "On the Floor" music video. "She's like the new Paula Abdul. I'm excited to see what she brings to 'American Idol,' because she has some tough shoes to fill. I think she's gonna do just fine. She's J.Lo!"

Carlos Ortiz thought Lopez found her footing at the table and that her opinions and criticisms were justified. "I think she is going to be fabulous," he said. "Her consistency in every way, every detail, every mannerism that she puts out there, I think she's gonna bring up lots of good things for these kids."

Fellow "On the Floor" auditioner Jason Maldonado was excited to see Jenny From the Block being herself on the show. "I think she's bringing the Latina flavor to it," he said. "So it's different. Paula Abdul did her thing, but J.Lo can do better."

Ortiz also thinks fans might be tuning in just to see Lopez. "I think they made rather right choices. I watched the ratings last night; they're over 26 million," he said. "They actually saw the show. I think they're doing great, and I think it has to do with J.Lo."

Exclusive: Elijah Wood Opens Up About His 'Hobbit' Role

Posted: 20 Jan 2011 11:49 PM PST

'The way that it will fit in will not infringe upon the integrity of 'The Hobbit,' ' actor tells MTV News at Sundance.
By Eric Ditzian

Elijah Wood
Photo: MTV News

Elijah Wood has long maintained that he'd never suit back up as Frodo Baggins — the role he pioneered in the Oscar-winning "Lord of the Rings" trilogy — in an adaptation of "The Hobbit" unless the appearance avoided gimmickry and fit within the larger context of J. R. R. Tolkien's legendary creation.

Well, now Wood is officially returning to Middle-earth, and in what might be his first public comments about the upcoming project, the 29-year-old actor told MTV News that, although Frodo was never in Tolkien's "Hobbit," the character's appearance in the movies makes sense for Jackson's adaptation.

"It's a very small piece, and I think that's the most appropriate," Wood said when we caught up with him at the Sundance Film Festival, where he was promoting "Fight for Your Right Revisited," a short film by Beastie Boys MC Adam Yauch. "Obviously, Frodo's not alive within the context of 'The Hobbit' piece. So I jumped at the chance to be a part of it and see everyone and have a little reunion. It'll be surreal."

While Wood didn't delve into detail about the exact nature of his role — rumor has it he'll appear in the beginning of each of the two films — he emphasized that Tolkien fans should not be worried.

"I'd heard about it a little while ago," he explained of the concept. "It's an idea that Fran [Walsh] and Peter and Philippa [Boyens], the writers, came up with. The way that it will fit in will not infringe upon the integrity of 'The Hobbit.' It'll fit and it'll be appropriate.

"It's just a gift," he added. "It's a gift to be able to go back to New Zealand. It's largely the same crew, the same creative team. It's seven years since we finished on the last film, and it's an opportunity to go back and have a reunion with everyone."

The Trumps are moving from the real-estate boom to the celebrity baby boom.

"Celebrity Apprentice" star, real-estate executive and jewelry mogul Ivanka Trump announced Friday (January 21) that she's expecting a little one with her husband, New York newspaper publisher Jared Kushner.

"I have been wanting to share some amazing news with you all for some time ... I'm pregnant!" Trump tweeted. "Jared and I couldn't be more excited." When a well-wisher doled out some e-congrats, Trump responded, "Thank you! We are beyond excited!"

The glamorous Gotham couple got hitched in October 2009 in an elaborate ceremony at, of course, the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey, surrounded by 500 guests, according to People. Among the headline-making pals in attendance were Russell Crowe, Natalie Portman, Barbara Walters and Regis Philbin.

Just before the 2009 nuptials, Trump insisted she wasn't ready to become a parent due to her and her then-soon-to-be hubby's demanding careers but maintained to People, "When our time to have a family comes around, I know I will compromise."

The time has come for compromise, and Trump has also dropped a few hints about how she plans to approach motherhood, citing her enterprising parents as an inspiration.

"My parents have both led nontraditional lifestyles — but they have extremely traditional relationships with their children," Trump wrote in her book "The Trump Card: Playing to Win in Work and Life." "They might have taken me to boxing matches or trips around the world but at the end of the day they were always my parents, not my best friends."

Send your congratulations for the family in the comments!

Are The Arcade Fire Prepping A New Album?

Rep for the band calls a listing in the U.K.'s Music Week 'just a rumor.'
By James Montgomery

In the current issue of U.K. trade mag Music Week, between listings for All Time Low's Dirty Work album and Asa's Beautiful Imperfection, there exists a line that reads, simply: "Arcade Fire 'TBC.' "

It's not exactly clear what it's referring to, but that hardly matters to the band's fans. Given that it's published alongside other upcoming albums, they've taken it to mean just one thing: Sometime this year, the Arcade Fire are putting out an album.

But will it be an entirely new album? A live disc? A collection of outtakes from their Grammy-nominated, chart-topping The Suburbs? Well, as it turns out, none of that may even matter. Because according to a rep for the band, at the moment, all that talk is speculative, at best.

"[It's] just a rumor," the spokesperson wrote in an e-mail to MTV News. "Nothing [is] confirmed yet."

A rep for Music Week could not be reached for comment about the listing.

So while there's nothing to report about a new album (at least not yet), Arcade Fire fanatics aren't exactly hurting for headlines these days. Earlier this week, the band were announced as headliners at both the upcoming Coachella and New Orleans Jazz & Heritage festivals, and they're also on tap to perform at the 53rd annual Grammy Awards on February 13, alongside Eminem, Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber. They'll also head into the show up for three awards, including Album of the Year.

Are you hoping the Arcade Fire already have a new album on the way? Let us know in the comments!

'Fight For Your Right Revisited': Inside Scoop From Sundance

We got a first look as the Beastie Boys short starring Elijah Wood, Seth Rogen and more premieres with a comic take on the 1987 classic.
By Eric Ditzian

Photo: MTV News

PARK CITY, Utah — The description seemed deliberately vague: "After the boys leave the party ..."

That was how Adam Yauch described his Sundance entry "Fight for Your Right Revisited," a short film that tells the story of what happened to the Beastie Boys following the events of their 1987 music video of the same name.

We knew Elijah Wood would play Ad-Rock, Seth Rogen would portray Mike D and Danny McBride would slip on a leather jacket to become Yauch's MCA. But would the short be a music video? A more traditional comedic exploration? No one seemed to have a clue.

Even McBride and Wood didn't know what the heck the short was all about when we caught up with them before the Sundance premiere on Thursday night. "I'm just as curious as you are what this is going to be!" McBride laughed.

Not long after we chatted with the cast, MTV News sat down to take in "Fight for Your Right Revisited," and now we can finally answer those lingering questions (beware of spoilers below).

The short film, which runs about 20 to 25 minutes, is part music video, part improv-heavy comedy. It begins directly after the conclusion of the '87 video, with the Beasties crawling out of the party-mad apartment in a cloud of smoke, the original tune playing in the background. They head down the stairs and immediately run into the parents of the kids whose party they crashed. Susan Sarandon and Stanley Tucci play the parents.

From there, Rogen, Wood and McBride head out onto the New York City streets — the film was apparently shot in three days on the Warner Bros. lot in Los Angeles — looking to keep the party going. They bust into a bodega, steal a couple six-packs of beer and head back out. At that point, the short transforms into a music video, with the Beasties rapping into the camera and guzzling beer as they walk.

"It felt super cool," McBride told us earlier. "The moment you start rapping into a fisheye lens, you realize you've been training for it your whole life."

The film continues to alternate between music video rampages and dialogue-heavy comedic scenes. It's also overflowing with a staggering number of celebrity cameos. One of the short's biggest takeaways — beside the fact that the Beasties can still deliver top-notch tunes — is that Yauch can call up pretty much anyone and get him or her to do the favor of appearing in his film. Celebs making appearances include Orlando Bloom, Kirsten Dunst, Amy Poehler, Will Arnett, Ted Danson, Alicia Silverstone, Will Ferrell, Rainn Wilson, Jack Black and John C. Reilly.

The short takes surreal turns at times, as when the Beasties end up in a limo with two metal music fans played by Dunst and Maya Rudolph. They all drop acid, Wood gets stabbed in the belly and it turns out that Ferrell is driving the car. Such delightful weirdness peppers all of "Fight for Your Right Revisted."

"There was just an air of fun to it," Wood explained.

The short's chief pleasure is simply that it exists, that Yauch is revisiting a song the band largely swore off back in the '80s. Some scenes crackle with comedic verve, thanks to the talents of some of Hollywood's most reliable improv talents. Other scenes could have benefited from a trim or two in the edit room. The music is vintage Beastie stuff; fans won't be disappointed on that front. As the Beastie Boys themselves, Wood, McBride and Rogen don't so much channel their real-life counterparts as simply seem to be having an utter blast. The audience at the premiere was right along with them.

The short reaches a bizarre climax when the Beasties encounter a "Back to the Future"-esque DeLorean. Parked inside are older versions of the group: Black as MCA, Ferrell as Mike D and Reilly as Ad-Rock. Turns out, they're from the future and claim to be the true Beastie Boys. The only way to settle the dispute, apparently, is with an old-school hip-hop dance-off. Their LOL-inducing dance moves lead, not entirely strangely at this point, to the six men in a contest, each one, literally, spraying their cohorts with steady streams.

The short wraps up with the appearance of the actual Beastie Boys, dressed up like cops. They shove the two competing sets of Beastie Boys in a paddy wagon and drive off. A title card reads, "To be continued. Check back in 25 years."

Tiesto's 'Greatest DJ Of All Time' Title Earns David Guetta's 'Respect'

'When I see those shows, it's unbelievable,' Guetta tells MTV News of fellow dance-music superstar's success.

In the February issue of the U.K. dance-music magazine Mixmag, veteran producer Tiësto is named the Greatest DJ of All Time, a title bestowed upon him by fans voting in a poll that began back in September. According to Mixmag, hundreds of thousands of clubbers were asked to vote and debate 35 DJs, each one nominated by big names in dance music. Some 80,000 votes were collected, and King Tiësto emerged with the crown.

That Tiësto should be considered the Greatest DJ of All Time should come as no surprise to dance-music fans, given his relentless touring schedule. Just last year, his Kaleidoscope Tour spanned 15 months, seeing him play 175 dates across six continents and performing for more than a million people. He was nominated for two Billboard Touring Awards (alongside folks like Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber) and was among Billboard's Top 25 Biggest Grossing Touring Acts of 2010. As a result, he has been a fixture on basically every DJ poll of the past decade. Since 2002, he has been in the top three of DJ Mag's Top 100 DJs poll, including three times at #1.

Coupled with his touring efforts, the onetime trance DJ has had an evolution in his sound, opening him up to a larger audience by incorporating elements of house music (some fans call his music "trouse"). His last studio disc, Kaleidoscope, featured vocals by Nelly Furtado, Tegan and Sara, Jonsi from Sigur Rós, and Yele from Block Party. His single "Feel It" with Three 6 Mafia, Sean Kingston and Flo Rida went gold. "C'Mon," his single with Major Lazer producer Diplo, was the talk of WMC last year, and Busta Rhymes would eventually lend his vocals to the song.

"He sells out stadiums but never comes across as big-headed or arrogant," EDM DJ/producer Sander Van Doorn told Mixmag. "He's very approachable, asking questions about music, giving tips and honest opinions."

"He's a new friend," house producer Afrojack told MTV News recently. "He's a nice guy. Just like David [Guetta]. They are both nice guys. Like really, really nice guys."

This week, MTV News caught up with Guetta, who revealed yet another dimension to Tiësto's greatness: While Guetta has achieved success here with the help of American radio, Tiësto has done it all on his own.

"We're actually good friends," Guetta said. "I have nothing but respect for him and friendship. When I see those shows, it's unbelievable. We kind of pull the same kind numbers, but I have massive hits on the radio, and for him to be able to do what he does, without having crossover records, it's incredible. I respect that a lot."

Tiësto will begin his residency at Las Vegas' Hard Rock Hotel & Casino later this year and will be dropping his Club Life mix album in the next few months.

Glamberts rejoice! Adam Lambert is working on his next album, and he's ready to get personal. In an effort to avoid an unfortunate sophomore slump, the singer is taking his time making the follow-up to his debut, For Your Entertainment, completely sincere. Speaking with MTV News at the season-three premiere of "RuPaul's Drag Race" in Los Angeles, the "American Idol" runner-up dished a few details about the LP.

"I'm in talks, so it's all kind of being conceptualized right now, and what we're hoping for is maybe by the fall," Lambert said of the project's progression. "So, I'm going to take my time and really write the most personal songs, the most powerful songs. I really want it to be something that's really honest and real."

But before the LP drops, the "Idol" alum predicts the project's lead single will hit airwaves in late summer. The 28-year-old singer revealed that the album will be in tune with the rock/pop sound of his debut, but with a bit of a twist.

"I'm starting to talk to some writers and come up with some ideas, and I'll be writing a lot of it myself," he told OnTheRedCarpet.com. "It's going to be very pop, very rock, maybe even a little dark."

Fans got a taste of some new-ish material from the entertainer when Lambert dropped a five-song EP in December. "Acoustic Live!" included stripped-down versions of the singer's For Your Entertainment hits, including "Whataya Want From Me."

Jay-Z, Kanye West's 'H.A.M.' Beatsmith Lex Luger Looks Ahead

'I feel like I can go where I want to go,' producer tells Mixtape Daily.

Behind the Beats: Lex Luger
Last year, Virginia native Lex Luger emerged on the scene as a producer on the rise with a pair of breakout numbers: Waka Flocka Flame's rumbling "Hard in da Paint" and Rick Ross' industrial-strength banger "B.M.F. (Blowin' Money Fast)."

This year, however, he's already showed a more diverse approach to projects, a full-length effort with Three 6 Mafia's Juicy J and the first single from Jay-Z and Kanye West's Watch the Throne joint LP.

The young beatsmith — who, like Big K.R.I.T., learned how to produce using the PlayStation video game "Beat Generator" — expects to showcase his range in 2011.

"My sound is hard, but I want people to hear another side," Luger said. "I got R&B, pop, everything, and I want people to see that and hear that. I feel like I could do that now because of this Kanye West and Jay-Z record. I feel like I can go where I want to go."

Bow down.

Five-Star Stellar Hits
Rick Ross' "B.M.F. (Blowin' Money Fast)": "To take something that a lot of people thought was nothing and to turn it into another dimension of sound was crazy to me," Luger said. "The reaction from people that I saw was crazy to me. That's when I really knew this is what i wanted to do."

Waka Flocka Flame's "Hard in da Paint": Luger said he was in Atlanta the first time he heard it. "I don't listen to the radio or go out that much; I just work," he explained. "When I got to Atlanta, I think I was on the way back from the airport and my boy turned on the radio. My boy was like, 'Yeah, this is it.' I said, 'Turn it up,' and it felt crazy."

Jay-Z and Kanye West's "H.A.M.": " 'H.A.M.' really came about in New York City. Me and Kanye, we had did 'See Me Now.' I played him a lot of beats, but he liked the ones that I didn't expect him to like. I left, like, eight beats with him; he called me, like, two weeks later and he said he wanted, for sure, two. That was one of the ones. ... I sent him the track out. He did what he did to it, still I didn't hear the song. I couldn't hear it until everyone else heard it. Working with Kanye was crazy. I can't really explain it. He's a perfectionist. He has to have everything perfect and out the ordinary, 10 times greater than everything. He's a crazy guy, but he's fire."

Hottest Streak Thus Far
From 2010 up to now: He produced smashes from Ross, Waka, Slim Thug and his recently completed Juicy J mixtape, Rubba Band Business. Currently, he's hoping to get in the studio with Curren$y, Drake, Nipsey Hussle and Wiz Khalifa.

Beyonce, Leonardo DiCaprio Lead Flurry Of Movie Remakes

Russell Brand, Willow Smith, Jonah Hill are just a few stars looking to revamp film and TV classics like 'Arthur', 'Annie' and '21 Jump Street.'

What do Willow Smith and Beyoncé have in common with Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill and Kenny Wormald? They're all starring (or in talks to star) in the latest round of remakes of beloved films and TV shows coming down the pike.

On Thursday, news broke that Beyoncé would be starring in a Clint Eastwood-directed remake of the 1976 Barbra Streisand classic "A Star Is Born" (which was a remake of a 1954 movie that remade a 1937 film). In the meantime, Will Smith is reportedly petitioning Sony to remake "Annie" (the 1982 movie and 1977 musical) starring his 10-year-old daughter, Willow, best known for whipping her hair.

In October it was announced that Leonardo DiCaprio and best bud Tobey Maguire would be starring in Baz Luhrmann's 3-D retelling of F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel "The Great Gatsby," with Carey Mulligan joining as Daisy Buchanan.

Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum have been working on bringing the '80s Johnny Depp-starring television series "21 Jump Street" to the big screen since 2008, and they might even get Depp to cameo in it in time for the film's March 16, 2012, release date.

And let's not forget the long hunt for a Ren McCormack (the character Kevin Bacon made famous in 1984), after Zac Efron and Chace Crawford dropped out of the planned "Footloose" remake that finally landed dancer Kenny Wormald the role of his life.

Then there's "Arthur," the Russell Brand-starring remake of the 1981 screwball comedy about a happily drunk millionaire who risks everything for love. The film has tapped everyone from Helen Mirren to Greta Gerwig and Nick Nolte.

Two recently announced remakes are "Lethal Weapon" and "The Wizard of Oz," which are still in early development and without stars attached. Warner Bros. announced their plans to reboot the Mel Gibson-starring franchise on Thursday and tapped writer Will Beall to pen the script with completely new characters. And director Robert Zemeckis announced back in November that he planned on remaking the 1939 Technicolor classic using the script from the original film, with Warner Bros. hoping Robert Downey Jr. will play Oz.

Just this past year, films from "Clash of the Titans" to "The Karate Kid" to "A Nightmare on Elm Street" were remade for the big screen and were well-received by audiences. "Alice in Wonderland" and "Clash of the Titans" went on to become two of the top 10 highest-grossing films of 2010, while "Piranha 3D" and "The A-Team" also went on to strong successes, proving that there definitely is a market for these kinds of remakes.

Patrick Stump Calls Reaction To A Cappella Grammy Video A 'Happy Surprise'

Clip of Stump singing five songs nominated for Record of the Year has become a sensation.

Earlier this week, Patrick Stump continued his slow march toward social-media proficiency (he even writes his own tweets now!) when he released a brand-new video of himself doing a cappella versions of the five songs nominated for Record of the Year at the Grammys. In the days since its premiere, the clip has become a sensation, something that has as much to do with his genuinely great vocal chops (and oddly mesmerizing bow tie) as it does with the fact that it's not exactly clear why he decided to make the video in the first place.

So we asked him. And as it turns out, Stump — who's gearing up for the release of his solo debut, Soul Punk — never intended for the video to be made public, until he received some advice to the contrary.

"I guess I decided to do the a cappella thing 'cause I've been put down as a musician a few times as 'just a singer,' and I wanted to kind of see how much [of] a musician I could be with just my voice," Stump wrote in an e-mail to MTV News. "Choosing to sing the Grammy nominees started because 'Nothin' on You' was in my head for a week, then 'Empire State of Mind,' and I'd seen they were both nominated. The whole thing just kind of came together naturally. I recorded it right around the time they were announced, I showed it to some friends and they were like, 'Post this!' "

So he did. Stump said that he's been blown away by the reaction his a cappella clip has received, though that doesn't mean he's not above nitpicking. Not about the music, mind you: No, most of his criticisms have to do with his wardrobe decisions.

"It's just been one of those happy little unplanned pleasant surprises," he wrote. "I should've worn a different shirt with that bow tie, though."

'Breaking Dawn' Star Angela Sarafyan Gushes Over Castmates, Director

Actress, who plays Tia, gives MTV News a 'Breaking Dawn' update straight from the set.

Angela Sarafyan came onto the "Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn" set last November and was warmly welcomed by the director as well as her castmates. When MTV News recently spoke to Sarafyan, who plays vampire Tia of the Egyptian coven, she gushed about her experience on the movie set.

"I went on-set and met Bill Condon and he is truly such a great, great person," she said. "I'm honestly humbled by the fact that he is kind and generous and, with the enormity of this film, has been so graceful about giving every actor their time. He immediately put me on a great starting point. We were all in this incredible Egyptian casbah in Baton Rouge [back in November] and it was quite magnificent. It was quite easy. It's not as pressure-filled as you'd think. It felt like an independent project where everyone's having a nice time, no one's pressured. It's been that way almost every day that we've worked on this."

Three movies into the franchise already, the crew is currently in the midst of filming the final two films, "Breaking Dawn" parts one and two, and the "Twilight" newbie says that things are so relaxed on the set that she doesn't feel like a rookie castmate.

"I was telling my mom, and I say these kids, they're [probably] people who are not very nice and they're stuck up ... and they're the complete opposite. They're very kind and sweet and normal and awesome," she explained. "I don't think I could find anything bad to say about a single person on the set. They're quite humble and normal people. It was a delight to come into that.

"About being the new kid on the set, there's so many of us, we've all become a family ultimately," she added. "It's been quite easy."

Sarafyan even got to help create a bit of backstory in order to play Tia. "I always envisioned Tia like Cleopatra and Benjamin like Marc Anthony, so even though they're the younger vampires, they're very strong-willed and rebels. We have this entire history of how they were 4 and they met and they fell in love and at 16 they turned into vampires," she explained. "It's something along those lines. And it's funny, I spoke to Stephenie Meyer and she has a similar idea of what we created."

Now Sarafyan and the rest of the cast are "actually in the middle of it all. We're midway through and we're not necessarily shooting as the script goes." And as Robert Pattinson recently revealed, the big fight scene is currently being shot.

"We're shooting it on green screen, so it's really quite unpredictable because we don't know what we're going to be doing day to day. Every character is pretty much in it except Ashley Greene's character and Jackson [Rathbone's] character. Were spending 14 hours a day hanging out with each other and it's been really exciting because at the end of the day, we don't know what it's going to look like," Sarafyan said. "It's almost half the script, so it's taking a while to shoot it."

Sarafyan's next film is "A Good Old-Fashioned Orgy," in which she co-stars with "Saturday Night Live" players Will Forte and Jason Sudeikis.

'American Idol' Ratings Down Again, But Show Still Tops The Night

Ratings down 12 percent from last year.

There was a bit of good news/ bad news for "American Idol" on Friday morning (January 21). When the ratings came in for Thursday night's second audition episode of season 10, the numbers were once again down from last year, but on its new night, the show also notched the highest Thursday night ratings in more than 15 years for the Fox network.

The Hollywood Reporter reported that the show averaged 22.9 million viewers and a 7.8 rating in the crucial 18-49 demographic, easily winning the night and more than doubling the numbers put up by the next-highest-rated show, NBC's "The Office" (8.3 million viewers, 4.5 rating).

The show was down 9 percent overall among total viewers and down 15 percent in the 18-49 demo compared to the first hour of Wednesday night's season premiere. It also took a dive from last season's second audition show, which rang up 26.4 million viewers and a 10 rating in the demo. The show moved back a night this year, switching from its Tuesday/Wednesday schedule, where it faced less competition, to Wednesday/Thursday this year. Overall, the first two shows are down 12 percent from last year's opening episodes.

Another good sign is that "Idol" beat CBS' "Big Bang Theory," one of the leading comedies on TV, which still put up strong numbers (13.6 million viewers/4.2 share). The other positive is that the move to Thursday gave Fox its highest-rated night of regular programming since 1995.

While ratings have slid, so far audience and expert reaction to the new judging panel has been mostly positive and bodes well for greater tune-in once the show goes live in the first week of March.
