FRANKLIN, Tennessee — All week, we've been rolling out Paramore's reactions and responses to Josh Farro's "Exit Statement" from the band he helped found. Which is to say, up until this point, we've been dealing almost exclusively with the past: the events that led to Farro posting his missive on December 21 and the fallout that occurred immediately afterward.

All of that ends now. Because, as you'll see Friday (January 7) at 4 p.m. ET — when MTV News presents "Paramore: The Last Word," a live stream on MTV.com — Paramore couldn't wait to put the past behind them and talk about their plans for the future.

You probably already know that they're pushing ahead with a South American tour in February, with Taylor York's brother Justin filling in on guitars and drummer-to-the-stars Josh Freese behind the kit. And, if you've read Hayley Williams' tweets, you're definitely aware that Paramore are already writing and demoing songs. But how will they replace the contributions of Josh Farro, who co-wrote the bulk of their last two albums? Well, they won't. At least not entirely.

"Well, I think, yeah, there's been a lot of talk of that. Everyone's like, 'You're taking Josh's spot,' " Taylor York told MTV News. "[But] in a way, this is a business, and I think when any business downsizes, you don't just take over someone's title; everyone's title changes to fit the mold. So there are some things that I am going to have to do that Josh did, some parts, but at the same time, I have no intentions of being the new Josh, taking over his parts. That's not really what I want to do. So, yeah, I'll be doing some lead stuff, but I love what I get to do, and I still intend on doing that."

You can hear a lot more about the band's future plans — including releasing new songs in 2011 — during our live stream, but making music is only part of the equation. In the wake of the Farro brothers' split, the remaining members of Paramore have also forged a new bond, which Williams said will carry them not just toward a new album, but beyond.

"I guess we're just going to do it really right this time. ... It's going to be fun to kind of just not have to think about what someone's thinking about me," she said. "I know that, for me personally, I'm just gonna feel, and I don't even mean this in a negative way to Josh and Zac, but I'm definitely starting to feel a lot more free about myself, and I think maybe that's just me growing up, but the people I have around me — Taylor and Jeremy — I feel very supported and loved, as a person, and that's a rare thing in this world."

And she didn't stop there, either, but you're going to have to wait for the "Last Word" live stream to hear the rest. And speaking of that live stream, we'd love to include your voice in the show, and judging by the sheer volume of comments our stories have gotten, you have plenty to say. You can upload videos to Your.MTV.com or tweet your take @MTVNews, and we might just use it.

MTV News will be unveiling our exclusive interview with Paramore today at 4 p.m. ET with "Paramore: The Last Word," a live stream on MTV.com that will feature in-depth analysis of the band's future, real-time discussion with their biggest fans and exclusive footage of the band, past and present.

'Jersey Shore' Star Deena Explains Wardrobe Malfunction

Well, that's one way to introduce yourself to your new roommates.

"Jersey Shore" newcomer Deena Nicole Cortese hadn't been inside the Seaside Heights house for more than a few hours when a few too many games of flip cup led to an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction in which she exposed her lady parts to a shocked, though quite amused, Situation. And let's be honest, Sitch is not exactly the shockable sort when it comes to unveilings of female flesh.

Just how did Deena come to drop her drawers on the show's newest episode quicker than you can shout, "T-shirt time"?

"That was such an accident," she confessed to MTV News.

Let's allow Deena to set the stage. "I wasn't used to the environment. I didn't know anybody," she explained. "I was like, 'All right, let me get a little buzz. Little did I know, I really didn't eat the entire day, so my little buzz turned into a quick little hammered. We drank the entire night, so as soon as the nighttime hit, now I want my 'blast in a glass' hat. I'm feeling fantastic. I can't feel my face."

And so Deena and the Situation go in search of the hat, a straw cowboy hat of which she is quite enamored. No sooner does she plop that hat on her noggin than, well, we'll let the New Jersey native take it from here.

"I wanted to show just my bikini, so I go to take off my dress, not realizing my bottoms were not there anymore and came down with my dress," she said. "That's when you hear me go, 'Oh no, not the bikini.' All frazzled. I had no idea. How embarrassing!

"Do you know what?" she added with a shrug. "You can't dread over things. You know what? Laugh about it. Big deal. Whatever!"

Don't miss "Jersey Shore," airing Thursday nights at 10 p.m. ET on MTV.

'Country Strong' Star Garrett Hedlund Recalls His Country-Music Roots

'[Co-star] Tim McGraw and the other great country stars filled the airwaves,' he tells MTV News about growing up on a farm.

Garrett Hedlund really is just a small-town guy at the end of the day. So when he hit the set of "Country Strong," which opened Friday (January 7), he embraced his Minnesota farm boy beginnings and his early love of country music.

In the flick he plays Beau Hutton, a young country music songwriter who plays a pivotal role in the life of former country star Kelly Canter (Gwyneth Paltrow), as she tries to reclaim her country throne. Beau also falls for a country singer newbie named Chiles, who's played by "Gossip Girl" star Leighton Meester.

"I mean, country, it was the only thing we listened to on the farm with the one radio station," Hedlund recalled to MTV News about his childhood. "You try to veer from it and you to go to rock and then to rap, and then country on this film kind of pulled me back home."

Hedlund explained that his folkie roots helped him to relate better to his character. "And [with] 'Country Strong,' growing up on a farm, [my co-star] Tim McGraw and the other great country stars filled the airwaves around our house," he told the Orlando Sentinel.

"Our only radio station played only country music," he said.

Post-"Country Strong," Hedlund said he's fully embracing his Nashville-loving roots. "And now I'm solely country music once again," he explained. "Driving in L.A. and everything's a little tenacious; it can get a little intense."

While country music fans might expect 26-year-old Hedlund to cite some contemporary artists as favorites, the "Tron" star told MTV News singers like Taylor Swift and Keith Urban weren't primary influences for him on "Country Strong."

"I love old-school [artists like] Townes Van Zandt, a lot of the great singer/songwriters that have a lot of these great lyrics and these great stories and beautiful, sad stories."

Check out everything we've got on "Country Strong."

'Jersey Shore' Stars Sammi, Deena Explain Their Big Fight

Snubs and offscreen gossip led to nasty spat on tonight's 10 p.m. episode, but Sammi tells MTV News they're 'like family.'

"Jersey Shore" began not with a whimper but a bang on Thursday night (January 6), as Sammi and newcomer Deena hurled NSFW insults at each other and nearly came to blows.

But what sparked the two to fight so soon after meeting? Well, how long do you have to hear this tale? Suffice to say the pair were gearing up for a throwdown just minutes into the show's premiere episode, with Deena seething over the way Sammi snubbed her after they'd just met and Sammi fuming about rumors that Deena wanted to hook up with her boyfriend Ronnie and, as she put it to MTV News, "ruin the relationship right off the bat." Add a hefty dose of booze to the mix, and the whole thing was bound to combust.

Shortly before Thursday's episode aired, both women gave us their side of the story.

"I felt the need, that I had to stand up for myself," Deena told MTV News.

"I felt like, 'You know, what? I'm not going anywhere, I'm not leaving early. I'm here to stay — get out of here!' So that's what I did. I just put my foot down and was like, 'Don't laugh at me. Get real!' "

Sammi, for her part, was peeved about Deena's smack talk, but admitted she didn't handle the situation as gracefully as she could have. "Sometimes people are immature and like to say things behind other people's backs instead of to my face, but you know what? Everybody gets in their moments sometimes, including myself," she said. "Look at me, I'm giving her attitude right off the bat. I was a little bit immature myself. Everybody has these days where you're just like, 'Ugh,' when you can't stand the next person.

"I'm very stern in my opinions and I speak my mind," she added. "I never fought anybody in my entire life until Miami. Winning isn't everything, but I'm proud of standing up [for myself]."

But don't expect Sammi and Deena to keep up their war of words and the threat of violence for the rest of the season. According to Deena, they're just as quick to forgive as they are to get worked up. "We're like brothers and sisters. You fight and then the next day you're like, 'Wait, what happened?' " she said. "We're really like family."

Don't miss "Jersey Shore," airing Thursday nights at 10 p.m. ET on MTV.

She's adorned her shades with lit cigarettes and covered her peepers with jewel-encrusted spheres, but Lady Gaga's latest pair of sunglasses has taken eyewear to stylish and tech-savvy new heights.

The influential songstress revealed her yearlong "Grey Label" collaboration with Polaroid to a packed room and thousands of fans who tuned into the event via Ustream at the Consumer Electronics Show, or CES, in Las Vegas on Thursday (January 6), and among the spankin' new products is a pair of shades with cameras embedded in the lenses.

Gaga, who took the stage nearly an hour after the publicized start time in a black corseted gown and wispy veil, showed off the innovative specs perched on a bronzed mannequin. Once turned on, tiny twin screens appeared in each lens, and Gaga explained that the futuristic accessories can snap photos and capture video, and are equipped with Bluetooth capabilities and a USB connector.

Mother Monster also showed off a sleek, portable photo printer about the size of a clock radio that allows users to instantly print physical copies of smartphone pics using Bluetooth technology — although the device isn't iPhone compatible. Gaga said the invention was inspired by seeing the legions of concertgoers thrusting camera phones in the air at her shows. She then demonstrated the nifty printer by snapping a picture of the assembled crowd of Gaga-ites and gadget heads — playfully barking, "Smile! You're so f---ing famous! — and brandishing a glossy image minutes later from the mini-machine. According to a Polaroid executive, the product should be available in May.

Gaga also introduced a suitably stylish and social media-friendly revamp of the classic Polaroid instant camera that she said would eventually allow photogs to directly share images on Facebook and Twitter. The product is slated to hit shelves around Christmas.

The Gaga-approved gadgets cap off a year of tinkering at Polaroid, which began when the "Bad Romance" belter was announced as a creative director in January 2010.

"I love the products, I'm so proud to be here," Gaga gushed about developing the gadgets with Polaroid. "They honored me as a woman, as a creative director and they really let me [put my] hands in there and design this sh-- myself."

Eminem is looking back on his life in a new commercial presented by the Grammys, and MTV News was the first to premiere the clip, which chronicles the MC's career, on Wednesday. The ad is part of the Recording Academy's Music Is Life Is Music social-networking and promotional campaign leading up to the awards show next month.

"The Grammys is about the celebration of music on many levels, so we thought we [could] map these artists' journeys with all of them culminating on the Grammy stage on February 13," said Evan Greene, chief marketing officer of the Recording Academy. "But artists aren't the only ones with journeys: You remember your first concert, your first kiss, you remember all of these moments in your life and it's tied to music."

Eminem's piece debuted on all media platforms on Thursday (January 6), and the print portion of the Grammy campaign begins in two weeks. The Midwest rapper earned 10 Grammy nods, including Song and Record of the Year (for "Love the Way You Lie") and Album of the Year (for Recovery, which is also up for Rap Album of the Year). He also scored noms for Best Rap Solo Performance (for "Not Afraid"), Pop Collaboration With Vocals (for his turn on B.o.B's "Airplanes, Part II") and Best Rap Song (for "Lie").

With all those nominations under his belt, fans are hoping Slim Shady will actually perform one of his chart-topping 2010 hits during the festivities. When asked in a RapFix.MTV.com poll if they'd like to see Eminem take the Grammy stage, 93 percent of our blog readers voted yes.

"He should perform 'Going Through Changes' with Elton John again. ... It's going to be epic!" Emperor commented.

Unfortunately, those at the Recording Academy aren't giving any hints.

"All of those conversations are going on in real time, and the show is literally being put together as we speak," Greene told MTV News. "Very few artists have been 100 percent confirmed."

The Grammy Awards air Sunday, February 13, at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.

Can't a rap star make a quality music video without any commotion?

That seems to be Fabolous' take on his new clip, "You Be Killin' Em," which co-stars Kanye West ex Amber Rose. If you follow the gossip fodder, the chatter is that the two are more than friends, a claim Loso denies.

"We got a lot of great response and recognition from the 'You Be Killin' Em' video," he told MTV News. "The little spice of hate and speculation, I choose to really exist above that noise. That stuff, you can't do nothing about [it], and it's always gonna be there. I tried to bring a great visual to the video world, not just bring the same scenario."

The Ryan Leslie-produced banger is from Fabolous' mixtape-turned-official release There Is No Competition 2: The Grieving Music EP. When a preview of the video circulated online featuring a lingerie-clad Rose in some steamy scenes with the Brooklyn rapper (including a few smooches), chatter about a potential new power couple intensified.

According to Fab, however, he picked Rose (who's been featured in other videos, including Ludacris' "What Them Girls Like") because the former Ford model symbolized the message in the espionage-themed visual.

"She embodied the style and grace of complimenting somebody, 'You be killin' 'em," he explained. "I think she did an outstanding job as the lead lady in the video. I did OK as well. I think together we made a good duo."

Lady Gaga Fans Left Oak Room 'Starstruck'

On Wednesday night, Lady Gaga played an intimate mini-set at New York City hot spot the Oak Room. And while she only played two songs, one fan at the Plaza Hotel venue tells MTV News that Gaga left everyone in the room completely "starstruck."

"People were actually very into it; they were very calm and collected and starstruck at the same time," little monster Ashley Rosner recalled of the show, which she accidentally stumbled into. "It was an excited crowd, but a reserved crowd. They wanted to respect her."

Rosner and her pals walked into the show when they happened to catch a glimpse of Gaga through one of the Oak Room's windows. The singer, wearing a black S&M-style dress and garters, was seated at a table with her entourage. "We were standing 20 feet away from her," Rosner said. "I am a huge Lady Gaga fan. It was amazing being there and seeing her up close. It's like seeing Madonna in 1984."

A rep for the club noted that not only did Gaga sing, but she also hung out with her boyfriend as well. "So every Wednesday at the Oak Room, we have a jazz night with Brian Newman, and Lady Gaga and Brian are old friends. So she came once before to support him and it turned out she's obsessed with the room and it's the only place she'll play impromptu for free," the rep revealed.

"She loves the space and came there in her getup. She came there with her boyfriend, Luc Carl, and when they first got there, Brian was playing Sinatra songs and she was dancing and singing. Everyone was dancing and cheering and hanging out. She said she felt bad for the horses outside because it was cold. She told the owner that she'd be back in the near future."

In addition to singing "Someone to Watch Over Me" and "Orange Colored Sky," the star also chatted with the audience from onstage. "She has such a cute New York accent," Rosner said. "She did talk a little bit. She was just having fun with it. You'd think she was getting paid a million dollars for it."

"Everyone was really calm and collected; everyone was really cool. No one was going crazy and screaming," Rosner's pal, Lauren Suss, added. "It almost felt like I was just at a jazz bar, not at a Lady Gaga concert. There weren't a lot of people there; probably under a hundred people. She [joked] that she got a little vodka on someone in the crowd."

After her brief performance, according to Rosner, Gaga "hung for about another 10 to 15 minutes and then she got up to leave. She went out the side door and there was a Rolls-Royce and an SVU waiting for her ... I think she got into the Rolls-Royce."

What intimate venue do you hope Lady Gaga performs at next? Let us know in the comments!

T.I.'s wife, Tameka "Tiny" Harris, may have gotten the MC into some more trouble during her recent jail visit, but she's managed to avoid a harsh penalty for the last time the two misbehaved together.

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office confirmed to MTV News that a judge dismissed a misdemeanor drug possession charge against the songstress stemming from a September drug arrest on Thursday (January 6) after Harris provided evidence that she had completed a drug diversion program in Georgia.

Harris was charged with a single count of misdemeanor drug possession in October, one month after she and her chart-topping spouse were arrested in Los Angeles after authorities found Ecstasy after pulling the pair over. The incident led to T.I. getting hauled back to jail in November for probation violation, months after he wrapped up a prison bid for a felony gun case.

The former Xscape singer has sidestepped further legal trouble just days after Tip was reprimanded and moved to a "special housing unit" after getting "frisky" with his longtime love during a visit.

T.I. has been keeping in touch with fans from prison through letters, thanking followers for their support and maintaining that he's ready to turn over a new leaf during his latest jail stint.

"It's a relief to know that there still are people who see a man with a life and not just another headline in the news," he said in a letter in December. "Most of you sound very concerned and optimistic at the same time about my situation. Let me assure you all that I am definitely keeping my head up. I don't consider myself done by far. Also many of you are convinced as I am that God has a plan for me that he's preparing me for. How do you tell God Almighty that all you wanna do is LIVE LIFE ??? What if all you wanna do is be a father to your kids, a husband to your wife, and son to your mother while providing insightful motivation through music and lending a helping hand when possible to those who need it most. Well guys...That's the topic of discussion between me and the MOST HIGH at the moment. I'll keep you posted on how it turns out."

Aretha Franklin may not be forthcoming about her recent health issues, but she has assured fans that she is doing well.

In an interview with Jet magazine, the legendary songstress, who is reportedly battling cancer and underwent surgery in December, declined to disclose her specific ailment but maintained that her health drama has subsided.

"I am not going to even deal with that," she said in response to reports that she is battling cancer. "I don't have to talk about my health with anybody other than my doctors. The problem has been resolved."

The "Respect" singer explained that her unwillingness to reveal her mystery illness stems from a preference to preserve her privacy.

"I am not one to do a lot of talking about my personal health or business. Not too much, not too much," she said. "There are a lot of people who will talk about anything, as long as there is somebody listening. But I am not one of those people. That's not Aretha."

While she chooses to remain protective of her health issues, the Queen of Soul did reveal how she discovered something was wrong, recalling "a very hard pain in my side" during a performance in Toronto last year that led her to check in with her doctor.

"I had a colonoscopy and it showed nothing was wrong. I associated the pain in my side with the colonoscopy that I had within a day or two before. I got up at 2 o'clock in the morning and called the doctor who did the colonoscopy and told him what was happening. He said, 'Miss Franklin, whatever it is, it is not from the colonoscopy. You need to come home and have a CAT-scan.' Thank God he said that, because that unfolded everything, what the problem was and everything," she said.

Franklin also explained that she decided to open up about her experience and her current condition so fans won't fret about the soul diva. "I know my fans are concerned," she said. "Let them know I am feeling great and coming along."

Taylor Swift And Jake Gyllenhaal: Who Should They Date Next?

Celebrity journalists have some suggestions for the newly single stars.

Now that Taylor Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal have gone their separate ways, the world is waiting to see what will happen next for these two in the romance department. MTV News spoke to some celebrity experts to see who they would match these two up with next.

"She dates a lot; he's a bit of a dark horse," PopEater's Rob Shuter told MTV News. "He's been around the Hollywood block too, but he's dated women before. He'll find a hot lady, a big star who's totally hot and that's a little bit older, and I think she'll find another Disney Channel type person. She's so random."

Those who follow celebrity romances for a living seem to agree that when these two go public with their next great romance, they should each stick to the kinds of people they're used to. "I feel Taylor should date a fellow musician, someone closer to her own age. That's why she suits a Jonas Brother well," said TooFab.com Managing Editor David Caplan. "And I think for Jake it would be just someone also on his level. I think Reese was best for him, because she was very grounded."

Perez Hilton noted that Taylor might have already had the perfect guy for her and that Jake should just have fun for a while. "She should give Taylor Lautner another try, because she said he was really good to her," he said. "So why not revisit that if he's willing to?"

Before they move forward, they should maybe look back at past mistakes. Perez noted that no one knows what went wrong except for them, while Shuter speculated that they felt compelled to date because they were introduced by Gwyneth Paltrow.

"I'm hearing that they drifted apart. They spent time together, they enjoyed being together, [but] there was no energy to it. There was no passion to it," he said. "Their lives took them to different coasts. They became pen pals."

" 'Broke up' implies they were in a full-on serious relationship," Caplan noted. "Which I doubt. I think what broke them up is that they're from two different worlds. There's an age difference involved. I think they're also at different stages in their lives. She's more about puppy-love romance and then Jake has been involved with serious actresses in serious relationships."

In anticipation of the Critics' Choice Movie Awards next week, MTV News enlisted the cast of "Jackass 3D" to help spread the word about the star-studded event, by way of four hilarious parodies of the Critics' Choice nominees for Best Picture.

We caught up with our favorite merry band of misfits — Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera, Ryan Dunn, etc. — during the filming of their take on "The Social Network" to get the lowdown on the movie spoofs.

In the "Social Network" scene we watched them shoot, Knoxville and company take on a tense boardroom, but in predictably outrageous fashion. Knoxville plays Mark Zuckerberg in a blond curly wig and Margera is an interrogator trying to get Zuckerberg's attention by opening up the shirt of another person at the table ("Jackass" castmember Dave Englund) and licking his armpit.

"We're spoofing four movies. We've never done anything like this before," Knoxville said. "So God knows how they're going to turn out. I play Mark Zuckerberg; Wee-Man and Preston play the Winklevoss twins."

There is also a clip of Margera sprawled out on a conference table, totally naked — a situation Knoxville and Margera felt obligated to explain.

"Poor Bam, the room was ice-cold," Knoxville said. "Everyone, please know that the room was ice-cold in there."

"Every time that I'm naked, it's always cold out," Margera protested. "It's Los Angeles, and it's freezing."

"He could be standing on the equator, and he'd call it cold out," Dunn added, nixing Margera's masked attempts to make excuses for his physical appearance in the scene.

Tune into the Critics' Choice Movie Awards on Friday, January 14, on VH1.

Michael Jackson Paramedic Recalls Hectic Ride To The Hospital

Posted: 06 Jan 2011 03:17 AM PST

Path was blocked by paparazzi, Richard Senneff recalls during Conrad Murray preliminary hearing.
By Gil Kaufman

Everywhere late King of Pop Michael Jackson went in life, he was photographed and followed by the paparazzi. So it's no surprise that even in death, the musical icon could not escape the scrutiny of the prying tabloid press and his rabid fans.

In the third day of testimony in the preliminary hearing of Dr. Conrad Murray, a paramedic who responded to a 911 call to Jackson's rented Los Angeles mansion on June 25, 2009, said the ambulance's path to the hospital was blocked by photographers and Jackson fans who were gathered outside the singer's home that morning.

Murray, who was hired to be Jackson's personal physician in the lead-up to the singer's attempted This Is It comeback concerts in London, has been charged with a felony count of involuntary manslaughter in the case.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Los Angeles City Fire Department paramedic Richard Senneff said he could not believe the mad scene outside Jackson's Holmby Hills mansion last June. "It's a circus out there. It's unbelievable," he recalled thinking in the hearing to determine whether there is enough evidence to bring Murray to trial. Senneff said the ambulance driver had trouble getting away from the home because of the huge crowd outside that included a tour bus and a variety of photographers.

"It just seemed wrong," he said, describing how one man holding a video camera ran alongside the ambulance holding his long lens against the window of the emergency vehicle. When questioned by a defense lawyer, Senneff said Murray had wanted to put a "central line" — a large catheter placed in a large vein in the neck or chest — in an attempt to restart Jackson's heart, but the paramedics did not have the equipment or training to pull off the procedure.

Earlier testimony by bodyguards claimed that Murray had improperly administered CPR to Jackson after finding the singer unresponsive, did not appear to know how to give the life-saving treatment and then requested that another guard round up medical evidence before calling 911.

Senneff said Jackson did not respond to two rounds of drugs meant to revive him and that hospital officials told him over the ambulance radio to "call" Jackson's death but that neither he nor Murray wanted to do it, despite the fact that Jackson appeared to be dead when they arrived. He described Jackson not having a pulse, cold legs and dry eyes and said the paramedics' heart monitor showed the performer had "flatlined." When Murray was asked how long Jackson had been unresponsive, CNN reported that Senneff testified Murray told him it "just happened," an account the paramedic said "didn't add up."

Jackson was pronounced dead at UCLA Medical Center a short time later, and Senneff said rescue workers had gone "above and beyond" the call of duty in the field to try and revive Jackson, not because he was a celebrity, but because "it was someone's son."

In further damaging testimony, Judge Michael Pastor heard from another paramedic who, like Senneff, said Murray did not initially tell them that he had given Jackson medications. A police investigation found that Murray had administered a variety of sedatives to Jackson in the hours before the singer's death, including doses of the powerful anesthetic propofol.

Paramedic Martin Blount said the denial about what medications he'd given Jackson struck him as strange because he saw hypodermic needles and three bottles of the anesthetic lidocaine in the pop star's room. Murray, who has pleaded not guilty in the case, "scooped up" the bottles and put them in a bag before leaving for the hospital.

In other testimony, TMZ reported that two phone company representatives reported that in the hours before and after Jackson's death, Murray texted and phoned a number of people, but never dialed 911.

According to accounts of Jackson's final hours, Murray left the singer's side to go to the bathroom just before 11 a.m. and when he returned, he found him unresponsive. Records read in court show that Murray was sending and receiving multiple texts every few minutes after the discovery, but that he did not inform a Jackson bodyguard to call 911 until after 12:20 p.m.

For songwriter Kevin Cossom, the inspiration for his single "Baby I Like It" was simple.

"I wish I had a big grand story to explain it, but it's basically things that go on at a party," he told MTV News from the "Baby I Like It" video set in Los Angeles. "It's really about 'boy meets girl.'

"We're all out having a good time, and you see something you like," Cossom continued. "Pretty girls in the club. That's what it's about. And with the video, we're trying to capture the energy of the track. And with the song, we were trying to capture the energy of the party."

The track is the first effort from Cossom's debut album, which is due later this year on Jive Records. The upstart signed through Grammy-winning producer Nate "Danja" Hill's label, NARS (New Age Rock Stars).

"Baby I Like It" features Diddy and Fabolous, and the video was directed by Colin Tilley (Chris Brown, Justin Bieber, 50 Cent.).

With a clip in place and the support of several artists whom he's penned hits for, including Keri Hilson, Cossom is set to make the transition from behind-the-scenes player to headline act.

"It feels good. We definitely got the label 100 percent behind us," Cossom told MTV News last year. "We did a lot of grinding on our own, and finally, I feel like I'm getting the proper opportunity I deserve and we deserve as a team. So it feels good. Everybody is saying they like the record and we're getting a great response. It's only the beginning. We got to keep pushing."

'Jersey Shore' Star Sammi Calls Return To Seaside A 'Roller Coaster'

'Not all relationships have healed,' she says of how tonight's premiere picks up where Miami-based episodes left off.

So the love of your life starts grinding on the dance floor with other gals while you're home in bed. Your female roomies decide to write you an anonymous letter detailing his face-sucking indiscretions. And cameras are there to capture every behind-the-back dis, he-said-she-said argument and face-buried-in-a-pillow sob session.

Sounds like a bad time, no? That's exactly what happened to Sammi in the Miami-based episodes of "Jersey Shore," and while she's hardly blameless in all this reality show drama, it's hard not to feel bad for her. Especially when she cops to how everything affected her.

"It was probably the worst I've felt," she told MTV News. "It was a time in my life where it was just so terrible. I was really down in the dumps."

Perhaps that's why it seemed like every episode Sammi took to her bed to whine, cry or, more often than not, both. Meanwhile, her roomies were out during the day getting their GTL on and hitting the clubs at night. But to hear Sammi tell it, often the only place she truly felt comfortable was in her bedroom.

"Here I am, I have no girlfriends, the guy I love is bashing me a little bit," she explained. "For me, it was a really emotional time. I felt really alone and I felt like I had nowhere to go, so why not go to my bed and cry. I had to do that. It was a comfort."

Things didn't get any easier when they left Miami. The cast swept into Seaside Heights to continue filming in July, not terribly long after leaving behind that Florida sunshine. And as Sammi put it, "Not all relationships have healed."

"I was walking into this house with not really any solid relationships with anybody," she added of filming the new episodes, which kick off on Thursday at 10 p.m. "I'm just, 'Great, here we go, the roller coaster is going to begin as soon as we walk through that door.' And it definitely does."

The new season of MTV's "Jersey Shore" premieres tonight at 10 p.m. ET on MTV.

Cali veteran says straight-to-DVD project will hit shelves April 20.

Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa are taking their pot-powered friendship to the big screen. The Cali spitter recently revealed details of the upcoming movie, which drops in April on a very appropriate date for two herbal enthusiasts.

"[I'm] working on something with my nephew, Wiz Khalifa. We working on a movie called 'High School,' which will be out 4/20/2011, straight to DVD, ya dig?" Snoop told Hip Hop Nation's DJ Skee.

A movie following the adventures of Wiz and Snoop nearly ensures a dope soundtrack will accompany the flick, and the duo dropped the project's first offering, "That Good," on Tuesday. "[I'm] just trying to spread my wings and fly a little bit," Snoop explained of teaming up with Wiz for the cinematic venture. "Do a little something for the old school, the new school, the true school. You know, just try to stay true to who I am and just make that good sh--. You know what I'm good for."

Snoop, who has been on Team Taylor for a while, also added that he was proud to see the Pittsburgh MC break out as a rising rap force to be reckoned with. "It's beautiful to see him gradually grow from somebody that's hustling to the whole world starting to pay attention and respect him for who he is. To see him get that attention and that respect and that world renown that he deserves is a beautiful thing," he beamed. "Now he just gotta stick to the script and keep making hot sh-- and, you know, stay on course."

Snoop also commented on the laid-back lyricists' many similarities — from their beanpole frames to their botanical extracurricular activities — and explained that the movie idea sprung from teaming up on projects like Wiz's "Black and Yellow" remix. He added that joining forces was not just good for the MCs, but a good look for the rap game in general.

"We decided to go ahead and say, 'You know what? Let's do a movie and a soundtrack and just become, you know, bosom buddies and do what we do 'cause we love what we do and we love each other and at the same time we know what the people want,' " he said. "The people want to see the two generations come together where hip-hop ain't about old school and new school. It's just about good music and making good moves and putting something out there that's classic where people can respect it and say, 'Yeah, so now, this was some gangsta sh-- that really made hip-hop gradually grow to another level.' "

Snooki Says 'Jersey Shore' Could Go On 'Our Whole Lives'

The new season premieres Thursday at 10 p.m. ET on MTV.

As if you couldn't tell from the chaotic, darn-near-catastrophic trailer, the new season of MTV's "Jersey Shore" — which kicks off Thursday (January 6) night at 10 p.m. ET on MTV — is going to be one for the ages.

But according to one "Shore" star — the fantastic Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi — we haven't seen anything yet.

"Well, I think the whole season overall is just insane," she told MTV News. "There's a lot of drama between the roommates, like, more than ever. A lot of drama with Jenni and her now ex-boyfriend, that was a lot to handle, especially when she's my best friend. We had to go to her house and get her dogs; it was really crazy. So Jenni pretty much had a hard time in Seaside [Heights], just with her relationships."

But the drama wasn't just limited to JWoww. It seems the rest of the cast raised the bar on the new season, the Snookster included. Because, this time around, she was on a mission.

"Me, I just kind of went balls-to-the-wall, because I hated the male race, and I just wanted to go out and just, like, destroy every guy that I found, so I pretty much just did that," she continued. "And in that process I found [current boyfriend] Jionni [LaValle]. And Sammi and Ronnie, I never saw them fight like that before, so you're going to see a whole new level of Sam and Ron fighting."

And with so much Seaside madness, fans have got to be wondering: Just how long can the "Jersey Shore" cast keep it up? Rest assured, Snooki, the Situation and the rest of the crew have no intention of slowing down any time soon.

"I think everybody can do, like, at least another 20 series or something like that, because we can do this our whole lives," she said. "This is what we do, and even if we weren't getting paid, we'd still be going back to the shore and doing the same thing. So why not have cameras following us?"

The new season of "Jersey Shore" premieres tonight at 10 p.m. ET on MTV.

Cee Lo 'Impressed' With Gwyneth Paltrow's Vocals on 'F--- You' Remake

'She's got great vocal control and range,' Cee Lo says of the actress, with whom he recorded a duet version of his hit song on Monday.

Cee Lo Green has worked with plenty of professional musicians and he knows a thing or two about recording hit songs. But the Gnarls Barkley frontman and solo star said even he was impressed with the vocal skills he heard on Monday when "Country Strong" actress Gwyneth Paltrow joined him in a New York studio to record a new version of his Grammy-nominated smash, "F--- You."

"We already went into the studio together to record a special rendition of 'Forget You,' " he said on Wednesday of the sanitized version of his viral hit. "I started off the new year [in] a very special way and that's recording with Miss Gwyneth."

The Lady Killer singer had nothing but kind things to say about the budding recording star, describing her as "very pleasant," "very pretty" and a "consummate professional." After some small talk to break the ice during their first meeting, Cee Lo said he shared some laughs with Paltrow before they got down to the work at hand. Ever the gentleman, he let the lady go first and, well, she killed it.

"In about four takes, impressively, she nailed it," he said, noting that Paltrow was very familiar with the song thanks to the clean rendition she did of it for "Glee" in November, which he highly praised at the time. With the song's producers, the Bruno Mars-led Smeezingtons, on hand to handle the remake, Cee Lo said there initially was a concern about the actress being able to sing in the Goodie Mob member's range. "She got in and she sang the original key the song was recorded in, so there wasn't much we had to change," he maintained.

The Smeezingtons are working on remixing and remastering the session as we speak. Cee Lo hasn't heard the final version yet, but he's hoping to be pleasantly surprised by the finished product. While the track was originally recorded for one voice, he said they were able to turn it into a duet by going "back and forth and [doing] our little Sonny & Cher kind of thing."

Paltrow has reported that she watched hours of performances by her pal Beyoncé, as well as footage of Michael Jackson, to get her vocals up to snuff for "Country Strong," and Cee Lo said the hard work clearly paid off. "To hear her sing in person, it was cool," he said.

"I was impressed. She's got great vocal control and range ... she did her warm-ups and her ritual ... I don't really do any of these things. I just roll out of bed and just sing. She was very professional and very clear ... it was great. It was a cool experience."

Cee Lo added that Paltrow was so on the mark that she knocked out her main vocal parts in about an hour, requiring just a handful of takes to get it right. At this point, it's unclear if the song will be formally released as a single, but Cee Lo plans to send it out in the world to allow people to appreciate it as a "conversation piece."

"I'm not sure if it will be released to iTunes ... I'm not sure of the long view and plan for it," he explained. "She was up for it and, of course, I was like 'great.' It gives me an opportunity to meet her and do something. We're just all in the moment right now."

Considering that Cee Lo will be the musical guest on the January 15 episode of "Saturday Night Live," which Paltrow is hosting, the R&B singer said you can be "certain" that there will be a musical meeting of the minds on the show. He was coy about whether they'd debut the "F--- You" duet that night, but with both of them in the house, anything is possible. "You can assume that," he said when asked if they'd sing something together on the show.

After a whirlwind year of making friends in the music industry, Justin Bieber is intent on pulling out all the stops for his sophomore album. Not only has the 16-year-old singer recently collaborated with Rascal Flatts, he's also talking about linking up with some hip-hop heavyweights including Kanye West, Drake and Chris Brown for future collaborations, according to manager Scooter Braun.

Bieber's manager took to a chat room Tuesday to speak to the pop star's legion of Beliebers about his new music, speculation about a romance with Selena Gomez and the celebrity lineup for Bieber's "Never Say Never" movie.

"Yes, Justin is working on new music," Braun teased after playing a clip of a new Bieber song, which he said may drop on Valentine's Day. "He's been talking to Drake about new music. [Bieber] and Kanye had a call today about a song they're trying to work on together. Kanye wants to produce a bunch of new songs for the new album. He's talked with Rascal Flatts. Him and Chris Brown have been sending stuff back and forth to each other."

And you couldn't have a fan chat without fans inquiring about Bieber's reported romance with Disney starlet Selena Gomez. Braun kept tight-lipped on the issue by not mentioning names, but insisted that the duo are no more than friends. "Everyone says I'm ignoring a certain issue that you all want to know about," he admitted.

"Everybody wants to know something. Here's what I'm going to tell you. This kid travels a lot and I always told him, I was always like, 'You shouldn't be in a relationship unless you can give someone everything.' I know that him and the person you're asking about are really close friends and have been for awhile. As far as I know, that's what they are."

As his manager and friend, Braun did confess that he's told Justin to "stop answering the single question" as it'll lead to a lack of a private life in the future.

Whether or not the Biebs is in a relationship, the teen sensation is adamantly focused on his rising career. The pop star's next big project is his Jon Chu 3-D documentary "Justin Bieber: Never Say Never," which hits theaters on February 11. Braun revealed that the film will feature guest appearances by Sean Kingston, Usher, Jayden Smith, Boyz II Men, Miley Cyrus, Kobe Bryant, Drake, Ludacris, Johnny Depp, David Beckham, Will Smith and Snoop Dogg.
