It's about to go down, basement! The MTV News Hip-Hop Brain Trust is back at the roundtable to discuss the most authentic, most controversial and most debated list in the music industry today: the Hottest MCs in the Game right now. Will Jay-Z retain his crown? Could a young upstart like Drake snatch it from him?

We'll find out soon, as the 2010 Hottest MCs edition begins to roll out on Monday, October 18, on MTVNews.com and MTV's RapFix blog leading up to the big reveal on Sunday, October 24, on MTV2.

The criteria for all the MCs who actively released music in the past year is the same as in 2009: artistic execution (lyrical ability, flow), commercial success (charting hits, radio spins, album sales), cultural impact (business acumen, putting on other big artists), digital metrics, buzz and other intangibles.

The 10th hottest MC will be revealed on MTVNews.com on October 18, and numbers nine through six will be announced at the rate of one per day through Friday. But you'll have to wait until October 24 to find out the top five.

Then, tune in to watch MTV staffers Sway Calloway (moderator), Shaheem Reid (MTV News) Rahman Dukes (MTV News), Jayson Rodriguez (MTV News), Steven Roberts (MTV News), Sean Lee (MTV News), Hillary Crosley (RapFix), Tuma Basa (MTV Jams), Sheila Grullon (MTV Jams) and Yomi Desalu (mtvU) engage in the debate until the Hottest MC of 2010 emerges from the pack.

Do you think Eminem's chart-toppers make him the hottest? Is it Nick Minaj's flare for stealing cameo spots that makes her #1? Or will Waka Flocka Flame's stronghold on the streets power him to the top?

Do past champions Lil Wayne (2007), Kanye West (2008) and Jay-Z (2009) have what it takes to score a second anointment as the Hottest MC?

Send tweets to @MTVNews, @MTVRapFix and @RealSway with the hashtag #hottestmcs to join the conversation. Or upload your choices to Your.MTV.com to have your voice heard on MTV News' hip-hop blog, RapFix. Remember not to use curses, be respectful of every person's opinion and, most important, passionately detail your case. (Note: Audience opinion is not a factor in the Hottest MCs ranking, but we still want to know what you think!)

Eminem Talks Bullying, Sobriety, Rhyming Process On '60 Minutes'

Rapper takes viewers to his hometown of Detroit in CBS interview.

As the introduction for Eminem's "60 Minutes" interview noted, the MC's rise to prominence transcends the hip-hop genre. His story has always been a point of fascination to his millions of fans but the famously private lyricist has been guarded about his personal life. However, in the sit-down, which aired Sunday (October 9), the rap superstar gave fans a glimpse of the man behind the music.

With news anchor Anderson Cooper in tow, Em took viewers on a tour of the Detroit neighborhood where he grew up, along the city's tough 8 Mile road, and opened up about his childhood, his lyrical process, his parenting strategies and the triumphant recovery from one of the lowest periods of his life.

Drawing on his years of experience as a top-flight wordsmith, Eminem took a stab at debunking some popularly-held beliefs about the boundaries of the English language while chopping it up with Cooper in his personal recording studio.

"People say that the word orange doesn't rhyme with anything and that kind of pisses me off because I can think of a lot of things that rhyme with orange," Eminem said, explaining that he plays with the enunciation of his words to make rhymes fit together, tossing out examples like "storage," and "porridge" to prove his point.

Em, who repeated ninth grade three times before quitting school altogether, said that despite his poor marks he was always good at English, and copped to trolling the dictionary for new words to keep in his lyrical arsenal. The MC also revealed how he stores many of his rhymes, opening a large box teeming with scraps of paper covered in scrawled lyrics.

Although the Grammy-winning, multiplatinum MC has captivated the ears of listeners around the world with his rhymes — breaking records and changing the face of hip-hop in the process — Em admitted that he was the target of schoolyard taunts as a kid.

"I would change schools two, three times a year and that was probably the roughest part," he confided about moving often due to an unstable childhood. "[I got] beat up in the bathroom, beat up in the hallways, shoved in the lockers, just, for the most part, being the new kid."

Later, he found solace in hip-hop and his ability to spit, despite his tough upbringing and status as the lone white kid in the underground rap haunts he once frequented.

"Hip-hop has always been about bragging and boasting and 'I'm better than you at this and I'm better than you at that,' " Em said."This kid over here, he may have more chicks or he may have better clothes or whatever but he can't do this like me. He can't write what I'm writing right now."

Em also admitted that his race did make things harder when he was working the underground circuit.

"There was certainly a rebellious youthful rage ... in me ... and the no-getting-away-from fact that I am white and this is predominantly black music and people [are] telling me, 'You don't belong and you're not gonna succeed because you're this color,' " Em said. "Then you want to show those people that you can and you will."

Em also said he believes race may have been an issue in terms of the criticism he has endured for his lyrics. Explaining that anti-gay slurs were cavalierly dropped in the hip-hop scene he came up in and citing the frequent use of offensive language by many other high-profile spitters, he said he felt targeted because he is white.

"I felt like I was being attacked. I was being singled out and I felt like, 'Is it because of the color of my skin? Is it because of that you're paying more attention?' " he said. "Because there's certain rappers that do and say the same things and I'm saying and I don't hear anyone saying [anything] about that."

Although Em's strained relationship with his mother has been a popular topic in his music, the Detroit MC has not often discussed his father, who left him when he was a baby. However, the "Not Afraid" lyricist said he doesn't have a strong desire to build a connection with his dad.

"If my kids move to the edge of the earth, I'd find them," he said. "No doubt in my mind. No money, no nothing. If I had nothing, I'd find my kids. So, there's no excuse."

The MC is protective of his own children, and although he spits harsh lines on his chart-topping albums, he revealed he doesn't allow vulgar language at home.

"I'm a parent; I have daughters," Em explained. "I mean, how would I really sound as a person like walking around my house [saying] 'Bitch, pick this up!' Profanity around my house, no."

Em also talked about being two hours away from death when he overdosed years ago and revealed that his Detroit Home and Home Tour stop with Jay-Z was the first stadium show he ever played sober. He also admitted that the rush of being onstage and feeling the love from fans never gets old.

"An artist can say that they get used to it but I think that they're probably lying if they do," Em said. " 'Cause you gotta be wowed, you gotta be taken back by seeing this many people and their faces."

'Eastbound & Down' Star Gets 'Weird E-Mails' From Marilyn Manson

'Maybe it would ruin it for him, if he appeared on it,' Danny McBride says of rocker vying for a cameo.

By now, you're probably aware that Marilyn Manson is a (rather bizarrely huge) fan of HBO's "Eastbound & Down," but chances are, you weren't aware of just how far his dedication actually goes. But "Eastbound" star Danny McBride certainly is ... and he's got the e-mails to prove it.

"I get weird e-mails from Marilyn Manson now," he laughed. "He sends me weird e-mails in the middle of the night of what he's watching on TV, and you can hear him giggling in the background. One time he literally sent me a 'Peanuts' special I guess he was watching, sometimes it's 'Eastbound,' infomercials, anything."

It's not exactly clear why Manson has taken to e-mailing McBride, considering he's already made his desire to play Kenny Powers' sidekick Stevie Janowski abundantly clear, but we have our suspicions. When it comes to celebrity cameos on the show, though, McBride is pretty set in his ways.

"You know, I equate it to this: Marilyn likes the show, and maybe it would ruin it for him, if he appeared on it," he said. "When I was a kid, I worked at Kings Dominion, an amusement park. I loved that place so I thought it would be cool to get a job there, and it's like the quickest way to ruin the all the magic. I hate that amusement park now."

Then again, it's entirely possible that other more practical factors may mean Manson will never get a chance to show up on "Eastbound." Because, as McBride told us, he and co-creators Ben Best and Jody Hill always intended to have the show run just three seasons ... and given that we're already three episodes into season two, time's running out. And while he realizes that news may depress some "Eastbound" die-hards, McBride's already promising that — if renewed — the show has big plans for its final season.

"We've approached each season ... where, we have no idea if we'll be able to do it again, so we try to make it where it could be self-contained. But if we're allowed to continue, we kind of know where to go," he said. "In our wildest dreams, this was like a three-season show that arced over those three seasons, so we do have an idea of where to go: It's to an Ewok village, next season is 'Return of the Jedi.' There's all this parallel action between a space station and a planet with furry creatures, and I think people will like that. It's different from what we've been doing."

Actress Laura Dern and singer Ben Harper are reportedly ending their five-year union. The folk-rock singer served the "Jurassic Park" actress divorce papers on Friday afternoon, according to TMZ.

The Grammy-winning artist has cited irreconcilable differences, and the website reports that although Harper and Dern have been living together recently, the singer claims the pair separated in January. Harper is looking to split custody of their two children. Harper and Dern got hitched in a Los Angeles mansion in 2005 surrounded by 150 guests.

Although Harper will be heading back into the singles scene, the musician told MTV News in 2006 that he would love for future couples to use his music as the soundtrack to their nuptials.

"I hope in the long term, a hundred years from now, someone might be walking down the aisle to it. That would mean a lot to me," the rocker admitted of the track, "Happy Ever After in Your Eyes," from his seventh LP, Both Sides of the Gun. Harper dropped the album months after he walked down the aisle with Dern.

In addition to the changes in his personal life, Harper has some new projects bubbling on the professional front as well. The musician just released the album As I Call You Down as a member of the group Fistful of Mercy, alongside musicians Joseph Arthur and son of the Beatles' George Harrison, Dhani Harrison. The trio will also kick off a tour in November, which includes sold-out stops in Seattle, San Francisco and Washington, DC. The group is also slated to play New York's famed Apollo Theater, a venue that Harper is familiar with from a 2004 gig with the Blind Boys of Alabama.

'Jackass 3D' Stars Recall Their Favorite Stunts

The upcoming "Jackass 3D" movie caps off ten years of cringe-inducing, did-they-just-really-do-that? stunts that have both entertained and freaked out fans. When the cast looks back on some of their favorite moments, many feats of foolishness come to mind, including BMX jousting, fast-food football and "every time that [Johnny Knoxville] gets on a skateboard or into a bull ring," as Steve-O said.

However, there is one stunt in particular that still blows the guys' minds after all of these years: Ryan Dunn's jump into a pool of raw sewage. Although plunging into a vat of waste has some fairly obvious drawbacks, many of the castmembers agree that what made the experience truly unforgettable were the things that didn't make the screen.

"I love it when ... Ryan Dunn jumped into the sewage plant with just a snorkel and then he found out later there was just like, crazy rotating blades just underneath his feet," Dave England recalled. "I guess six feet down, if he had went a little farther it would have just sucked him in and ripped him to shreds and we wouldn't be having the 10-year anniversary right now."

Jeff Tremaine agreed that Dunn's dive was memorable not only for the craziness of the stunt but because it also gave the cast a look at the daredevil's equally nutty ink.

"I loved when you [referencing Bam Margera] made Ryan jump into the poo factory, the 'Poo Dive' I think we called it," Tremaine said. " 'Cause that was horrible, but the best part was ... revealing his tattoos that we didn't know about. That was the first time we ever met Ryan."

Margera explained that his high-school pal Dunn came up with the idea to plummet into gallons of raw sewage and when he showed up he immediately made an impression with his scrappy tats.

"He takes his pants off [and] he's has all these ... homemade tattoos," Margera remembered. "It's like a Red Hot Chili Pepper sign, a noose and then a Blair Witch [Project] thing. It's just total ridiculous nonsense."

"I think there's just a little ... piece of barbed wire," Tremaine added. "I think he was intending it to go all the way around his thigh but ... I guess, maybe it hurt too bad so he's just got a little half inch of barbed wire."

"It's just a whole bunch of terribleness," Margera added.

Other fondly-remembered moments include Jason "Wee Man" Acuña's romp as a skateboarding Oompa Loompa and England's turn as vagabond with a questionable diet.

"I liked it when Dave did the chocolate pudding in the diaper and then threw it in the trash in the park and then came and pulled it out and was like, 'I'm so hungry, I'm so hungry,' and this guy was like, 'Yo, homeboy that's a diaper,' " Preston Lacy laughed.

For those wondering how the prankster crew can top their decade of debauchery in "Jackass 3D," which hits theaters on Friday, Knoxville said one of his personal favorite stunts is in the forthcoming flick.

"Steve-O's Port-O-Potty bungee in this one is pretty epic," Knoxville teased.

Film scoots past 'Life as We Know It' for box-office win.

Despite a bunch of fresh choices in theaters, "The Social Network" remained a fan favorite at the box office this weekend. None of the new films were able to topple director David Fincher and writer Aaron Sorkin's portrait of the rise of Facebook, which raked in $15.5 million in theaters over the weekend. The film, which boasts performances from Jesse Eisenberg and Justin Timberlake as tech savants turned budding billionaires, opened at #1 last week and has a total estimated haul of $46 million.

Josh Duhamel and Katherine Heigl's date-night flick "Life as We Know It," was hot on the heels of "Network." The movie, which features the two stars grappling with the responsibilities of rearing their late friend's child, took in roughly $14.6 million during its debut weekend on screens.

The new Disney horserace movie "Secretariat" held its third-place slot from Friday. The film, which is based on the true story of the 1973 Triple Crown-winning racer and features Diane Liane and John Malkovich, opened with $12.6 million in ticket sales.

The animated flick "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole" didn't crack the top five on Friday but finished out the weekend in fourth place. The GC fantasy film scored an estimated $7 million in theaters. The figure bumps the movie's total gross to roughly $39 million.

Horror filmmaker Wes Craven's newest knee-knocker, "My Soul to Take," took fifth place in the weekend box-office race. Craven's 3-D enhanced thriller was just behind "Ga'Hoole" with approximately $6.9 million.

Check out everything we've got on "The Social Network," "Life as We Know It" and "Secretariat."

'Glee' Star Jane Lynch Belts Tunes On 'Saturday Night Live'

If your beef with "Glee" is that pushy cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester, played by Jane Lynch, doesn't show off her pipes enough, then the most recent episode of "Saturday Night Live" is right up your alley.

Lynch, who reliably turns in a menacing yet hilarious performance every week as "Glee" 's resident tracksuit-clad villain, displayed her vocal abilities as host of "SNL," and even came up with her own theme song for the Fox musical hit. Taking the stage in an asymmetrical black suit, Lynch used her opening monologue to present fans with a number she that joked was penned after downing copious amounts of tequila and began with, " 'Glee' is a show about Sue Sylvester/ Sue Sylvester is the star of 'Glee.'/ Yes, there are few other characters/ But Sue is the one you want to see." Accompanied by 'SNL' castmember Fred Armisen on guitar, Lynch conceded that the lyrics sounded "conceited" but added, "Blame my co-writer Jose Cuervo."

After kicking off the night with the faux "Glee" theme song, Lynch brought her easy humor to a variety of sketches. In a digital short, she played a creepy, distracted therapist who ends up naked in front of her client, played by Andy Samberg. She also teamed up with Samberg for "The New Boyfriend Show," as a mom who gets around and lets her son interview her conquests. She did the embarrassing-mom thing again in a commercial for a mother-friendly Facebook filter that includes nifty features such as turning pictures of a kid toking some weed into a photo of a son tooting the saxophone.

The openly-gay actress also connected with Kristen Wiig's interpretation of lesbian money guru Suze Orman as Roma, a woman Wiig described — with a wink — as her "very first roommate." When Lynch's character, Roma, insists she's straight, Wiig counters with, "Have you told that to your haircut and your Crocs?" Lynch also showed off her vocal skills by belting an extended opening theme song for NBC's "Sunday Night Football" that included a recipe for nachos and ran so long that Lynch eventually rattled off the latest score for the game.

While Lynch showed fans her musical side throughout her host stint, the guest who was booked to bring some tunes, Bruno Mars, also added some retro style to his "SNL" appearance. Donning a blue jacket, skinny tie and pompadour, Mars first rocked his feel-good #1 hit "Just the Way You Are," backed by band that included a string section and a tambourine-thumping backup singer. When Mars returned to the stage, he picked up a guitar and plucked a mellowed-out version of his chorus for B.o.B's smash "Nothin' On You." The singer then told the crowd, "That was then, this is now," and put down the guitar as he launched into "Grenade." Mars peppered the performance with hip-swaying moves Elvis would be proud of and wrapped up the set in classic rock-star style with an enthusiastic jump in the air.

Lupe Fiasco Reveals 'Don't Stop' Is Two Years Old

MC says Kanye West's latest G.O.O.D. Friday track was an experiment for CRS supergroup.

Between jetting around the world, finishing up an album, making a film and leaving a trail of headlines wherever he goes, Kanye West's commitment to releasing a free song every week until Christmas seems almost superhuman. However, it appears the MC got a head start on creating his latest G.O.O.D. Friday joint, "Don't Stop," a collaboration with Pharrell and Lupe Fiasco, who together make up the Child Rebel Soldier supergroup.

MTV News chopped it up with Lupe a day after the track hit the Web and the Chicago lyricist revealed that "Don't Stop" is a holdover from the early days of CRS.

"We went on the Glow in the Dark tour and it was just kinda like, maybe, maybe not, let's do a record, let's see ... so, 'Don't Stop' is kinda one of the records from that creative process a couple years ago," Lupe said, adding that West's bars may have been updated. "The song is two years old. I think 'Ye verse might be a little recent but I don't know."

Lupe explained the track was created as a way to gauge the direction the trio wanted to take with their sound.

"That song is like a song that we did in the midst of being CRS when we were actually going to put out an album and just really wanted to test records and see if we should do more records like that, or should we do more records like 'Us Placers' or ... more down-low records, up-top records," Lupe said. "We were just trying to figure out what should we do and that was one of the experiments that was bananas."

The "Superstar" spitter said that he's not sure what the MCs plan to do with the CRS project next but while the "The Eraser"-sampling "Us Placers" plays up the plaintive vibe of Thom Yorke's song, "Don't Stop" displays the crew's ability to create a club-friendly record. The rumbling beat is powered by flossy, swagger-driven lyrics such as, "Mr. West turn that new child rebel/ Loud as a badass child level," and "Brand new Ferraris, I gotta make the donuts/ CRS is like a hip-hop Christmas bonus."
