Pink Says 'Love Is Louder Than Fear'

Outspoken pop star tells bullies: 'Come find me.'

Pink has never been one to keep her opinions to herself, so it should come as no surprise that she's just recorded a message for Love is Louder, the viral campaign launched by MTV, actress Brittany Snow and the Jed Foundation (with support from DoSomething.org, the Trevor Project, Reach Out, Active Minds and the Ad Council).

And it should also come as no surprise that she comes out swinging in her video, reaching out to not only teens who are bullied, but the bullies themselves too.

"Love is louder than fear; love is louder than ignorance; love is louder than pain; love is louder than anything," Pink says. "If there's any bullies out there that really need to take their anger out on someone, come find me."

Pink is just the latest in an ever-growing list of stars that have lent their support to Love Is Louder. In recent weeks, everyone from "Twilight's" Kellan Lutz to the "Jersey Shore's" Snooki and JWoww have filmed videos for the campaign, started in the wake of the suicide of Rutgers University student Tyler Clementi, who took his own life after his roommate posted footage of a sexual encounter between him and another man online.

Of course, her Love Is Louder message isn't the only reason Pink is making headlines these days. She's just announced that the video for "Raise Your Glass" — a single off her upcoming Greatest Hits ... So Far!!! album — will take place at a gay wedding, an idea inspired by a real-life experience.

"I threw my best friend's wedding in my backyard. [She] is gay, and she married her wife, and it was absolutely beautiful," she told InDemand.fm. "At the end of it, her mom said, 'Why can't this be legal?' and started crying. It was just the most heartbreaking thing I've ever seen, so that's why I'm doing it in my video."

Rihanna Calls Drake The 'Only Person' For 'What's My Name' Remix

Rihanna and Drake's collaboration on the remix of "What's My Name" wasn't one of those studies in industry politics where labels wrangle two stars for the sake of an on-trend hit. Instead, Rihanna personally invited Drake to jump on the track, which is slated to appear as a bonus cut on her upcoming release, Loud.

"She played the record to Drake backstage somewhere to try to get him on a verse," Stargate producer Tor Erik Hermansen, who has worked with the singer on her forthcoming fifth LP, told Billboard magazine. "She's calling me up saying, 'Where are the files?' That's one thing you don't hear often from artists on her level."

The "Only Girl (In the World)" singer explained that she and Drizzy had been attempting to team up for a while and that she wanted Drake's signature swagger for the track.

"Drake is the hottest rapper out right now and we've always been trying to work together," she said. "He's the only person I thought could really understand the melody of the song, and the minute he heard it he said, 'I know exactly what I'm going to do. I love it.' And he did it like three days later."

Both stars have been fairly stingy with details but Rihanna has described the track as "young" and "playful." The now flame-haired songstress has also hinted that she and Drake may take their collaboration to the screen and shoot a video.

As far as the sonic vibe for the rest of Loud, Rihanna has dished that the album will "exude the energy and space I'm in right now. That's what I always try and do with my music. Right now in my life I feel very loud and in charge of my life and I can't wait for everyone to hear the new album. It has such a variety of sounds, but it all makes sense for this album."

Eminem Doesn't Allow Profanity At Home

'I'm a parent; I have daughters,' Em explains in preview of Sunday's '60 Minutes' interview.
By Mawuse Ziegbe

Like many hip-hop stars, Eminem uses all types of four-letter words and adult topics in his music, and Shady has famously come under fire for what critics have dubbed "hate-filled," anti-gay lyrics. But the rapper has revealed that when he comes home, he leaves his potty mouth at work.

In a preview released Friday (October 8) from his upcoming interview on CBS' "60 Minutes," which is set to air Sunday, Em describes his household as a swearing-free zone.

"I'm a parent; I have daughters. I mean, how would I really sound as a person like walking around my house [saying] 'Bitch, pick this up!' Profanity around my house, no," Em told news anchor Anderson Cooper.

The "Not Afraid" rapper said he maintains a distinct division between how he expresses himself through his work and how he communicates with his loved ones.

"I'm not saying there's not glimpses of me in the music, there's not truth in things that I say," Em explained. "But this is music, this is my art and this is what I do."

Em has built a game-changing hip-hop career on his brash lyricism and his rowdy Slim Shady persona, but the Detroit MC has mentioned that he calmed down in the booth for his latest chart-topping release, Recovery.

"Shady still exists, but I don't think the subjects on this record call for, you know, bringing the chainsaws and axes out and murder[ing] everyone," he told the New York Times in June. "There was so much stuff like that off the last record that I felt like I was starting to run it into the ground. I think consciously I went in a different direction with this record."

What do you think of Eminem's at-home, no-swearing policy? Let us know in the comments!

Linkin Park's 'Waiting For The End' Video: House Of Cards

Latest A Thousand Suns clip requires a few viewings to appreciate.
By James Montgomery

Mike Shinoda in Linkin Park's video for "Waiting for the End"
Photo: Warner Bros.

About a month ago, I decided to compare Linkin Park's A Thousand Suns album to Radiohead's venerable Kid A, a move which earned me some new fans (Hi, Mike Shinoda!) and more than a few detractors too (Hi, Internet!).

But regardless of what you thought of my assessment, you have to admit it's pretty apt, especially given the premiere of LP's brand-new video for "Waiting for the End."

Because "End" — which debuted Friday morning (October 8) on MTV.com — is a spiritual successor to Radiohead's "House of Cards" clip, the much-ballyhooed thing that premiered two years ago and was most notable for the fact that it was made without a camera, instead relying on stuff like "Geometric Informatics" to create images of Thom Yorke looking very Thom Yorke-y. I'm pretty sure Linkin Park at least used a camera to make their video, but stylistically, "Cards" is definitely the touchstone.

Of course, that's pretty much where the similarities end. Because while "House of Cards" went to great lengths to be as icy and inhuman as possible, "Waiting for the End" positively teems with living energy. Sure, director (and LP DJ) Joe Hahn may distort his bandmates with all manner of tech detritus — stretching their skin, compacting their faces, covering their bodies in fractal grids — but unlike Yorke, they are not ghosts inside a machine. They are alive.

And that wasn't just an aesthetic choice. After all, one of the central themes of A Thousand Suns is the uneasy coexistence between man and machine — where one begins, the other ends and the two intersect. "Waiting for the End" is mostly about that last idea — human beings becoming machines — and the struggle to keep living in spite of it. In a way, it's the central dilemma of our times: How do we continue to be human in an increasingly information-driven age.

At least, that's how I see it. You could also look at "End" as just another really cool video or a final farewell to LP's past — it's probably the least Linkin Park song and video they've ever released — but that's probably selling the clip short. Like A Thousand Suns itself, "End" is the kind of thing that only gets better with repeated consumption and deeper diggings. The complexity is there if you're willing to work for it. Then again, what do I know? After all, I'm the dude who compared them to Radiohead.

Vince Vaughn 'Dilemma' Trailer's 'Gay' Joke To Be Cut

Universal Pictures will replace 'insensitive' preview scene from upcoming flick.

The Vince Vaughn vehicle "The Dilemma" is already running into problems of its own after promotion of the film recently kicked off. Following an outcry over the use in the trailer of the word 'gay' as a derogatory zing, Universal Pictures has announced the preview will be reworked.

"The teaser trailer for 'The Dilemma' was not intended to cause anyone discomfort," the studio said in a statement released Friday (October 8). "In light of growing claims that the introduction to the trailer is insensitive, it is being replaced. A full trailer, which has been in the works for some time, will post online later today."

The comedy has drawn high-profile criticism from the likes of CNN anchor Anderson Cooper and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres for the use of the word "gay" in a joke in the movie's trailer. In a version of the preview that has been circulating online, Vaughn's character holds court in a boardroom and says, "Electric cars are gay. I mean, not 'homosexual' gay but 'my parents are chaperoning the dance' gay."

"I was sitting ... in a movie theater over the weekend, and there was a preview of a movie, and in it the actor said, 'That's so gay.' And I was shocked ... not only that they put that in the movie, but that they put that in the preview, they thought that was okay to put it in the preview to the movie to get people to go and see it," Cooper said on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" on Wednesday. "We gotta do something to make those words ... unacceptable, 'cause those words are hurting kids."

Gay-rights organization GLAAD also weighed in on the controversy.

"The use of the word 'gay' in this trailer as a slur is unnecessary and does nothing more than send a message of intolerance about our community to viewers," GLAAD President Jarrett Barrios said.

The uproar comes after the tragic suicides of teens such as Tyler Clementi and Seth Walsh pushed anti-gay bullying into the spotlight and the debate surrounding the repeal of the U.S. armed forces' controversial "don't ask, don't tell" policy.

Rihanna Says Boyfriend Matt Kemp Prefers Her Loud Ballads

Rihanna's making a bold statement with the title of her fifth disc, Loud, but her boyfriend, Los Angeles Dodger Matt Kemp, is all about the quieter moments on her new album.

In an interview with U.K. radio station 95.8 Capital FM, the "Only Girl (In the World)" singer revealed that she's played some of her new tracks for her beau, and while he's feeling most of the record, he's really into the slow jams.

"He really likes, actually, the ballads on the album. Those are his favorite ones," Rihanna said. The songstress, who described the vibe of her next effort as "fearless," "bold" and "colorful," predicted that one of the slower numbers could turn out to be a hit.

"The ballads on this album are really special. I didn't want to just put a bunch of ballads on the album, I actually wanted to keep it minimal with slow records," she explained. "But there are really two powerful ballads. One is called 'Straight Up Beautiful' and the other one is called 'California King Bed' which is ... one of my favorite songs on the album. It's probably going to be the biggest song on the album. It's talking about being this close to someone yet feeling so far away, like falling out of love."

Rihanna said she often looks to her man for feedback on her music.

"I always play him songs when I finish them. I'll bring them back home and ask him what he thinks. At the end of the day, we still disagree on some things but for the most part ... he loves everything on the album," Rihanna said.

Kemp is into the LP but Rihanna concedes there is one exception.

"'Who's That Chick,' he doesn't really like that one," she admitted about the peppy, David Guetta-helmed track. "I guess it's too lightweight pop for him."

Lupe Fiasco's Lasers Gets A Release Date

His third album will drop March 8 after apparently patching things up with label.

Lupe Fiasco's long-awaited Lasers album will finally hit shelves next year. The Chicago MC's label, Atlantic Records, announced Friday (October 8) that his third LP is slated for a March 8 release. The album's first single will be released October 26 via his website.

The official drop date comes a day after Lupe tweeted a picture of himself grinning with record exec Julie Greenwald below a placard emblazoned with the Atlantic logo and giving a thumbs-up sign. The pic was accompanied by a simple caption: "Victory!"

The announcement follows months of drama between Lupe and his label, in which the bespectacled lyricist charged that Atlantic urged him to record singles that he wouldn't retain publishing rights to. One of the records the label pushed was "Nothin' on You," which was later handed over to Lupe's labelmate B.o.B and became a #1 hit.

"I wrote 'Superstar.' The hook, all that sh--. That whole song is mine. I'm not doing it outta fame. I don't mind having people come in and support. That's how my career started. With all that said, I own some of 'Superstar.' These records, I'm not finnin' to own sh-- on those records [Atlantic chose as singles]. N---a, that's not success. That's stupidity," Lupe told MTV News in July. "I got a whole family, a whole team, a whole crew of n---as I f--- with in the streets that's eating off what Lupe Fiasco is doing. I gotta do what's best. If I'm not getting no publishing check, that means I can't pay for my man's lawyer."

Fiasco has also revealed that the label's insistence on cutting into his endorsement and tour revenue via a 360 deal strained his rapport with the company.

With the album in limbo, some of Lupe's dedicated fans started an online petition to coax Atlantic into releasing Lasers, which scored roughly 16,000 signatures by mid-summer and, at press time, boasted more than 30,000 digital co-signs. The initiative likely played a factor in the amelioration of the MC's relationship with his label.

"For them to see 16,000 people say, 'This is what we want and what we want now,' " Lupe said in July. " 'We're sick of all this dumb bullsh--.' They love to see fans that actually care."

'Star Wars' Fans' Jar Jar Binks Hatred Has Died Down, Actor Says

'What everyone said back then, I think they're realizing it was a bit ridiculous,' Ahmed Best tells MTV News.

Few names and/or characters in film history elicit a collective groan more than Jar Jar Binks. The number of blog posts, Web pages and Facebook groups dedicated to the universally loathed "Star Wars" character is staggering. As such, the actor who portrayed the clumsy Gungan, Ahmed Best, has been dealing with the brunt of all that negative energy ever since "Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace" was released in 1999.

MTV News recently caught up with the actor to discuss his thoughts on Jar Jar and whether the public has finally been able to embrace the character.

"A little bit, it has changed," Best admitted. "Because of all the negative press that was so ubiquitous at the time, it was very challenging for me to go anywhere and talk about it, because I always felt like I was defending the character. I never really saw what everyone else was seeing because I was too close.

"I didn't have a good objective perspective on what everybody was saying," he said. "As the years have gone by, I think what everyone said back then, I think they're realizing it was a bit ridiculous. It was a little extreme. Now the kids who were kids are now adults. They are just like, 'What the hell is the problem?' "

Best equated the onslaught of Jar Jar hate to that of the Ewoks from "Return of the Jedi."

"Everybody had a problem with the Ewoks," he recalled. " 'Who were these teddy bears?' It was in the media: 'Oh, the Ewoks, they ruined the movie.' And I remember being a kid and going, 'What's wrong with the Ewoks?' I kinda dig Ewoks. They're cute, they had a cartoon. Wicket was cool. I mean, they're little furry creatures from the planet Endor. I think I've gone that way as far as the Jar Jar thing. Everybody is just like, 'I don't get it. What's the big deal now?' So I think that's good. The perception of the character has changed a lot out there in popular culture. I think it's a positive thing."

The 37-year-old went on to say that while the more devout "Star Wars" fans have asked him how he could have accepted the role in the first place, he has maintained that the offer was impossible to refuse.

"There's always been a contingent of 'Star Wars' fans that wants it to be very — almost religious," he said. "You know what I mean? A guy said to me one time, 'Why didn't you just say no to the character? Why didn't you just say no?' OK, so let me get this straight. George Lucas comes out of a 20-year retirement, finds me onstage, says, 'You know what? I want to put my faith in you and create something that I've never done before. Are you up to the challenge? Possibly change your life?' I would say, 'Nah.' I don't think so. 'No, I got some other sh-- that I got to do in my studio apartment in Brooklyn.' You crazy? Of course I'm not going to say no."

What do you think of Best's thoughts? For the Jar Jar haters, has your contempt subsided yet? Let us know in the comments!

Kanye West Compares Lindsay Lohan's Fashion Line To '9/11'

Rapper says actress' failed Ungaro collection makes it hard for other 'celebs doing fashion' to be taken seriously.
By Gil Kaufman

Lindsay Lohan's initial foray into the world of fashion was met with some harsh criticism when she partnered with a storied fashion house a year ago. And as if the troubled actress didn't have enough worries, on Wednesday night in London, during a screening of his 35-minute epic, experimental film "Runaway," Kanye West had some very sharp-elbowed opinions about Lohan's sideline.

According to Elle UK, West reportedly referred to Lindsay's collaboration with fashion house Ungaro as the "9/11 for celebrities doing fashion. After that, I thought, 'Well, I can't do a line now.' "

The rapper, never shy with his opinions, spoke to the invited audience at the "Runaway" premiere for two hours and, in that time, talked a little about fashion, one of his longtime obsessions along with slick, modern design. He said the critical bashing given the Ungaro line on which Lohan served as artistic advisor — the spring 2010 collection consisted of lots and lots of sequins and heart-shaped pasties that Emanuel Ungaro himself called "a disaster" — made the public skeptical about musicians being successful in fashion.

"Last night at my Paris premiere of 'Runaway,' what hurt most was the people who weren't there. People look down on celebs doing fashion," West said of his disappointment in the lack of fashion faces at Tuesday night's screening in France.

The magazine reported that when 'Ye was asked how his long-gestating signature clothing line, Pastelle, was coming along, he repeated the dis against Lohan, who is currently in rehab, quipping, "Did you not see the Lindsay/Ungaro collection? ... There are so many ups and downs, hurts and pains in fashion. It's extremely frustrating, because I do have opinions on color palettes and fabrics, but do I have the time to pick out every belt buckle? ... I don't have 20 years of fashion experience, and my father wasn't a tailor able to train me. The only way it would work was if I sat next to a designer."

After dropping out of sight following his 2009 VMA bum-rush of Taylor Swift, West lived in Rome and interned at fashion house Fendi. He has also collaborated with Nike and Louis Vuitton on designs.

What do you think of Kanye's take on Lindsay's forays into the fashion industry? Do you agree with him? Tell us in the comments!

The Situation Explains His 'Aggressive' Flirting On 'Jersey Shore'

Posted: 07 Oct 2010 10:45 PM PDT

Despite what it looked like on Thursday's episode, Mike says he's 'never disrespectful' to women.
By Eric Ditzian

There's no doubt that Thursday's episode of "Jersey Shore" was not the Situation's finest hour. After establishing himself as the show's moral center — quashing various house beefs and staging gluttonous family dinners — Mike found himself on the outs with many of his roomies and facing accusations that his club-ready flirtation style was simply too aggressive.

This week, he could be seen lifting women into the air as they begged him to stop, and even Pauly D — the Situation's partner in all things involving the pumping of fists — admitted his buddy can become too intense when chatting up a lady. But Sitch doesn't see it that way at all.

"I'm never disrespectful in that fashion ever," he told MTV News. "I might be forward, not to be wasting my time or the girl's time. I definitely am aggressive — I'm not saying I'm not — but at the same time, I'm sweet and I'm genuine and I'm generous and I'm respectful."

What about that attempted robbery of Vinny's gal pal Ramona, wherein the Situation slid in for a bit of flirtation while Vin was in the bathroom?

"My intentions never were to steal his girl," he explained. "It's not necessarily that I don't do that. It's more if I do do that, not only do I do that thorough, you'll know I'm trying to take your girl."

Pauly, in contrast, declared he would never attempt to rob his friend. But as the Situation made clear, he and Pauly have distinctly different styles when it comes to hanging out at a club.

"He has ways of dealing with things, and I have ways of doing things," Mike explained. "I'm more aggressive, he's more passive. That's just the way things are."

"The way you see me on 'Jersey' is a snapshot, and you can't judge from a snapshot," he added. "There are so many things that you don't see that you're seeing on 'Dancing with the Stars.' You're seeing the full picture [on 'DWTS'], and then you're seeing a snapshot in 'Jersey.' "

Don't miss "Jersey Shore" every Thursday at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.

'Secretariat': The Reviews Are In!

Posted: 08 Oct 2010 02:14 AM PDT

Critics think horseracing movie wrings a bit too much drama out of an already dramatic story.
By Eric Ditzian

Diane Lane in "Secretariat"
Photo: Disney

This weekend could end in a photo finish at the box office. "Secretariat," "Life as We Know It" and, in a holdover from last week, "The Social Network" will all compete for the top spot, and it's looking close at the moment. All three could rack up similar grosses — somewhere in the $15 million range — and experts are split on which film will be declared the winner.

If "Secretariat," Disney's retelling of the story of the greatest racehorse in history, can connect with families, the warm-hearted movie might well be trotting around the winner's circle Monday. Here's what the critics are saying:

The Story
"Penny Chenery (Diane Lane) has no idea she has a future winner on her hands when she inherits her late father's Virginia horse ranch. Leaving her husband (Dylan Walsh) in Denver while she tends to business, Penny clashes with her skeptical brother (Dylan Baker) as she plans on racing a horse bred from a strong sire but weaker broodmare. That chestnut-red horse, eventually named Secretariat, comes to mean something special to Penny and Lucien Laurin (John Malkovich), the colorful but down-on-his-heels trainer chosen by Chenery to guide Secretariat to victory. After a disappointing event at the Aqueduct, the underdog equine takes charge and eventually winds up in the winner's circle at the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness Stakes, and the Belmont Stakes in 1973, becoming the first Triple Crown winner in a quarter-century." — Joe Neumaier, New York Daily News

The Performances
"Lane tries very hard, saddled with not-great wigs and lines like, 'I will not live the rest of my life in regret.' She is simply not as comfortable in the role as Sandra Bullock was in 'The Blind Side,' another sports movie that courted the Christian audience with considerably more subtlety. ... John Malkovich lends comic relief (and a terrible French-Canadian accent) as Secretariat's eccentric trainer, Lucien Lauren, with fine support by Margo Martindale as Tweedy's supportive administrative assistant." — Lou Lumenick, New York Post

The Direction
"When Secretariat is running his races, the movie has a hokey, old-fashioned appeal. It uses a fantastic gospel anthem to stoke our feelings, the Edwin Hawkins Singers' 1969 rendition of 'Oh Happy Day.' ... The director, Randall Wallace ('We Were Soldiers') often seems to be aiming for the same Christian demographic that helped make a hit out of 'The Blind Side.' I personally have no objection to a horse film that views a creature as magnificent as Secretariat with religious awe, but in this case the uplift has a downside. The film is so insistently square it undercuts the very drama it's out to capture." — Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly

The Dissenters
"The tale of this glossy chestnut colt substitutes reverence for bona fide excitement. Diane Lane's voice-over narration quotes from the book of Job while a handsome steed bursts through billowing clouds as if on a divine mission. The true story of the recordbreaking Secretariat is pretty stupendous as is. It didn't need schmaltzing up. But director Randall Wallace ('The Man in the Iron Mask') chose to aggrandize everything surrounding the Triple Crown winner to worshipful proportions. The sentimentality ladled on thickly, however, undermines the impact of this underdog saga." — Claudia Puig, USA Today

The Final Word
"Hold your horses. The art of the great, superbly cast studio film is alive, even if corn remains a key ingredient. ... Yes, it is old-fashioned, often corny, preachy and altogether too emphatic. But this tribute to both two- and four-legged empowerment in the late 1960s and early 1970s and a genuinely legendary horse cannot fail to move you." — James Verniere, Boston Herald

Kanye West Crowns CyHi The Prynce

Protégé tells Mixtape Daily about Royal Flush, set to drop next week.
By Jayson Rodriguez

Fire Starter: CyHi the Prynce

Every king needs a queen, but in the absence of one ("When you talk 'bout 'you know who,' I don't know who you talkin' 'bout!"), royalty reigns supreme in the G.O.O.D. Music camp with only father and son.

"[Kanye] is really on his kingdom, his Pharaoh, his Roman days — that's his terminology these days," 'Ye's latest protege, CyHi the Prynce, told Mixtape Daily. "And I call myself 'The Prynce,' so he was like: 'If I call myself "The King," I need a prince. And this is perfect.' That's how that went together. A lot of people don't know that."

There was a couple of steps, however, before CyHi was officially crowned.

Yeezy first heard the Georgia product getting busy alongside fellow upstart rappers from the Southern region earlier this year on the remix of Yelawolf's "I Wish," also featuring Pill.

At the time, Cy already had aligned himself with Akon in 2007, and later landed at "The House that Russell Built" (Def Jam) last year. He also partnered with veteran hip-hop figure Greg Street for a mixtape release.

Cy and West connected though — "We sat down and were on the same page," Cy said — and soon were working side by side in Hawaii on the producer's forthcoming masterpiece, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.

There, CyHi found himself in a new circle that included legends like Mos Def and Raekwon. Back in New York months later, he and West recorded material, including "So Appalled,", which led Beyonce to applaud the young lyricist's rhymes.

The experience was quite a contrast from where he started his year.

"I been doing this for a minute, but I'm glad no one really knew me," the Prynce said about the newfound attention. " 'Cause it's kind of like I'm a new artist all over again. There's certain people that knew me, but the majority of people don't. This whole year has been a different year for me, just as far as maturing as a man. This year, I decided to cut my braids off. I cut them off for a symbolic reason. I wanted to leave everything that I went through in the past in the past and start fresh.

"My sister passed this year; I had a nephew pass; two of my best friends passed. I had to go to two funerals on the same day twice. But then, at the same time, I get signed to Kanye.

"I got a phone call from Kanye saying, 'You made the album,' " Cy continued about his G.O.O.D. fortune. " 'Jay wants to get on a song with us.' Say what? 'Beyonce loves your verse.' What do you mean, 'Beyonce loves my verse'? That doesn't even sound right. Especially at the pace I'm at, I got 3,000 Twitter followers, don't have a major song on the radio. To me, I'm still trying to convert from a fan to an actual artist."

According to Cy, that conversion will take place with his mixtape, Royal Flush, set to drop next week. The project will feature some of his G.O.O.D. music fam and venture toward an uplifting tone, he said.

"I just feel like ain't too many role models no more, especially in hip-hop," he said. "I feel like people don't give the whole story, and I'm here to give the whole story. I tell people all the time: Instead of you being a drug dealer, instead of you being this and that, I rather for you to be a prince. I'm looking to change the culture. I know these little boys will pick up a CD before they pick up a book. So, I'm not gonna be talking no foolishness."

'Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 1' Won't Be In 3-D

Studio says 3-D conversion wouldn't be ready by film's November 19 release date.

Although Warner Bros. announced back in February that both parts of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" would be converted to 3-D, the studio has gone back on that decision.

On Friday (October 8), it was announced that "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1" will be released in 2-D. The reason? The 3-D conversion will not be finished in time for its November 19 release date.

"Despite everyone's best efforts, we were unable to convert the film in its entirety and meet the highest standards of quality," the studio revealed in a statement. "We do not want to disappoint fans who have long-anticipated the conclusion of this extraordinary journey, and to that end, we are releasing our film day-and-date on November 19, 2010 as planned. We, in alignment with our filmmakers, believe this is the best course to take in order to ensure that our audiences enjoy the consummate 'Harry Potter' experience."

This news will likely come as a pleasant surprise for fans who are feeling 3-D conversion fatigue — an issue critics and audiences alike have been grumbling about since seemingly last-minute conversions were made to films like "Clash of the Titans."

"Potter" producer David Heyman supported the studio's decision to go with the 2-D version.

"For 10 years, we have worked alongside Alan Horn and the studio, whose priority has always been to preserve the integrity of Jo Rowling's books as we have adapted them to the screen," Heyman said in a statement. "This decision reflects that commitment."

Director David Yates added in the same statement, "This decision, which we completely support, underscores the fact that Warner Bros. has always put quality first."

"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2," however, will be released in both 2-D and 3-D formats on July 15.

Heyman told MTV News earlier this year that the idea of adding the 3-D element excited him. "I am obviously looking forward to some of the battle sequences in the second part," he said. "I am also looking forward to seeing the dragon flying up. I think there's a lot that will be great in 3-D, but to me, where it's really most exciting is just making that world seem much deeper, richer and what that extra dimension gives you."

What do you think of the 2D release? How will it affect how you see the film?

'Life As We Know It' Star Josh Duhamel Talks Babies With Fergie

Josh Duhamel plays a new dad in "Life as We Know It," which hit theaters Friday (October 8). In the movie, his and Katherine Heigl's characters find themselves the adoptive parents to their late friends' baby. Duhamel seems very comfortable hanging out with babies, but as it turns out, his equally famous wife, Fergie, is a little anxious around infants.

"[She's] not afraid of children; she just hasn't had as much experience with little ones," the "Transformers" star told MTV News. "She's great with kids when they grow up a little bit more, when she can interact with them."

Not that Duhamel has any doubts about what may happen once he and his wife decide to start a family. "It only takes a day until you get used to holding a baby," he said. "I have no doubt she'll be an amazing mom."

While Duhamel has nothing but glowing reviews for Fergie's motherly instincts, it seems his "Life as We Know It" co-star is quite fond of his daddy qualities. "Oh my God! The best of the best! He's fantastic," Heigl gushed. "He's really good with children. They sort of flocked to him. I think it's a pheromone thing. I think he puts off, like, a chocolate-cookie scent to children. They love him, and those triplets [who played the baby in the movie] loved him.

"It was upsetting on certain days, because I was like, 'But I'm a new mom and I should have the touch!' " she joked. " 'And I clearly don't have the touch and you do!' "

30 Seconds To Mars Get Shirtless On The Set Of 'Hurricane'

Celebrity photographer Terry Richardson snaps bare-chested shots of lead singer Jared Leto in New york.

30 Seconds to Mars may have forbidden camera crews — or, at least, our camera crew — from the set of their "Hurricane" video. But that didn't stop celebrity photographer Terry Richardson, he of the eternal flannel and plastic-framed glasses, from showing up and snapping a bunch of behind-the-scenes pics.

On Thursday, Richardson posted a handful of photographs from the set of "Hurricane" on his blog. The black-and-white snaps show a frequently shirtless Jared Leto prowling the streets of New York City, posing with members of the NYPD and his mom, Constance (he's at least wearing a trenchcoat in that shot). The other guys in 30STM also make an appearance in one photograph, giving Richardson a very emphatic "thumbs up."

The pictures don't actually reveal much about the video itself, though eagle-eyed observers might be able to make out a sign for Walker Street in the background of some shots (hey, maybe they headed down to Santos Party House!). Last month, Leto told MTV News that the clip would be both "very ambitious" and very dirty.

" 'Hurricane' as a video, like I said before, is going to be very, very sexual," Leto said. "It's basically a meditation on the violence of sex, and the sex of violence ... and it's going to be quite an adventure."

Leto also said that Kanye West, who appears on the version of "Hurricane" that will appear on the forthcoming reissue of the band's 2009 album This Is War, might make a cameo in the video, adding that 'Ye would add "an interesting element" to the production. West isn't seen in any of Richardson's on-set photos, but it's still not too late: Shooting on "Hurricane" is reportedly set to continue Friday night.

'Jersey Shore' High Five: Lobster Dinner And Barftinis

Plus, Vinny finally gets together with the girl who stood him up.
By Jim Cantiello

This week's "Jersey Shore" was all about awkward silences and drama at the club. In other words, it was like every episode of "The Hills" ever. Here are our five favorite moments!

5. Snooki the Bartender

Snooki's hometown buddy Ryder came to visit and it was time to drink! Common sense and taste buds, be damned! They scoured the kitchen for something, anything, to put in their cocktails. They considered using olive oil, peanut butter, coconut milk, marinara sauce, cottage cheese, olives and ice cream. Also known as a barftini. In all honesty, wouldn't you rather drink that concoction versus Ron Ron Juice?

4. Charlie the Lobster

Angelina's no longer with us, so the gang celebrated with a lobster dinner. And when JWoww and Snooki got all animal rights activisty, they decided to keep one lobster as a pet and feed him "insects or something." (Chef Snooki rides again!)

Unfortunately, the girls didn't realize that if they submerged their new lobster friend in tap water, the saltwater creature would keel over. He survived the "Jersey Shore" house almost as long as Angelina did season one.

3. Vinny Gets Romantic

Remember that girl who stood up Vinny? The one he wanted to marry? Well, he was stupid enough to make plans with her again. This time she actually showed up ... only a couple hours late. Upon her tardy arrival, Vinny embraced her and lovingly said, "I'm gonna strangle you." Obviously the dude's reading from "Mel Gibson's Guide to Females" handbook.

2. Situation the Jerk

What was up with the Situation this week? Between aggressively groping girls in the club, trying to steal Vinny's girlfriend and smacking Snooki in the face when she didn't want to go home, "Dancing With the Stars" might want to give him a new phone number next week: 1-868-A-HOLE

1. Sammi the Smotherer

With Angelina gone, who's going to constantly whine about not having any friends in the house? Oh, right, Sammi. She refused to make nice with JWoww, opting instead to obsessively tug on her own hair extensions and ponder, "I'm on my own completely and it sucks 'cause now what am I gonna do? Be up in Ron's ass all the time? I don't want to do that!" Little does she realize that she's already up Ronnie's ass as far as she can without sprouting out the top of his scalp like hair.

Pink's 'Raise Your Glass' Video Celebrates Gay Marriage

'I wanted to write a song about underdogs,' she says of her new single.

Pink just released her new single, "Raise Your Glass," on Tuesday, and already she has announced plans to film the video for the song, which is off her Greatest Hits ... So Far!!! album, due out November 16.

The visuals for her song, which she said celebrates the "underdogs," will be set at a gay wedding, the singer told InDemand.fm.

"I will be celebrating a gay wedding [in the video]," she said of the clip, which she said was shooting this week. "I am not the minister. ... There's so many [celebrations]. Of course typical psychotic me, it's 80,000 different things going on."

Pink said the video's theme was inspired by real-life experience. "I threw my best friend's wedding in my backyard — [she] is gay and she married her wife, and it was absolutely beautiful," she recalled. "At the end of it, her mom said, 'Why can't this be legal?' and started crying. It was just the most heartbreaking thing I've ever seen, so that's why I'm doing it in my video. "

As for the song itself, she explains that it too is a celebration for those who feel left out from the popular crowd. "I don't know if it's going to be huge, but it is new. I did three new songs. It was good timing. I had been on the road for two years and I hadn't written anything and I wanted to write a song about underdogs.

"Instead of going and becoming a cover girl and endorsement girl and popular girl and having #1s, I kind of just hit the road and pounded the pavement ... and became a touring artist," she said. "You don't have to be popular when you're a touring artist, you just have to be good, and this is just a celebration and a thank you."

Drake Working With 9th Wonder On New Album

'I've got some great stuff that I'm really excited about,' he says of progress on his yet-untitled sophomore effort.

Drake has never shied away from acknowledging artists who inspire him, from Kanye West to the late singer Aaliyah. For his debut, Thank Me Later, the Toronto lyricist had the opportunity to work with West and he sampled Aaliyah's voice on the Young Jeezy-fueled "Unforgettable."

And on his yet-untitled sophomore set, Drake has tapped another of his heroes in former Little Brother maestro 9th Wonder. "I've got some great stuff that I'm really excited about," he told Rap-Up.com. "40's [Noah Shebib] in a really great place so he's making great beats. I started working with 9th Wonder, so yeah, it's good. It's early though."

In the meantime, Drake is wrapping up his R&B mixtape offering It's Never Enough. The first track from the collection, "I Get Lonely Too," arrived online via his blog earlier this week. The song serves as the intro to the mixtape and is an homage to female trio TLC. The rapper even sported a TLC T-shirt during his rehearsals last month for the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards.

"It's a nod to a phenomenal group," Drake told MTV News this week. "Not a lot of people booked it, but it's like the fan-mail tribute to TLC. It's not a single. It's not to be taken like, 'This is it. This is the one. We're working it to radio. I'm shooting the video in two weeks.' It's just like some music for you to listen to."

Who else do you hope Drake works with on his next album? Let us know in the comments!

Pitbull Aiming For Planet Pit Domination

Posted: 08 Oct 2010 09:25 AM PDT

Rapper has recruited Akon, Shakira, Enrique Iglesias and more superstars for upcoming album.
By Gil Kaufman

Pitbull has had his share of success lately with tracks like the "Jersey Shore" soundtrack song "I Like It" with pal Enrique Iglesias, but for his upcoming album, Planet Pit, Mr. 305 is aiming for global domination.

"This is really like a Planet Pit Now Hits album," Pitbull said earlier this week while recuperating from surgery to repair a broken hand sustained during a celebration in his Miami home Monday night. "I'm trying to make it 10 big singles, like, every record you hear you're gonna be asking, 'When's he going to put that out?' "

The disc, which is tentatively due December 8, is already living up to its billing, with planned guest spots from Akon, Shakira and Iglesias, as well as songs produced by such beat masters as Rodney Jerkins, Polow Da Don, David Guetta, Pharrell and Afrojack.

Pit said the chart-scorching template was set during his world tour in support of 2009's breakthrough double-platinum Rebelution album, which spawned the singles "Krazy," the Snooki favorite "I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)" and "Shut it Down."

"I was on this world tour, and I got to see cities I can't even pronounce, places I didn't even know existed," he said. "I'm seeing everything going on in the world and the way music is working, and I thought, 'I have to have a power-packing album.' I wanted it to be like everything you were listening to could be a huge record. Not just two records and the rest is bullsh--. I want it to be like Lady Gaga and the Black Eyed Peas."

Once he's recovered from the broken hand, Pit is slated to film a video for the first single from the album, the club track "Hey Baby (Drop It to the Floor)," which will also feature T-Pain.

Given his plans to dominate the globe, Pitbull said he's going to be logging some serious road time, possibly heading down to South America with the Peas and then jumping on Iglesias' world tour. "I want to take it to the next level and represent," he said, explaining that unlike other crossover Latin superstars who've paved the way like Ricky Martin, Shakira and Iglesias, he's deeply rooted in the hop-hop community but can also jump on a pop record if he wants to. "I can't see Enrique on a Rick Ross record. To come from what I've come from and cross over into international [fame] and be worldwide and still be able to jump on an urban record? That's me."
