For one special evening, Chelsea Handler is bringing her late-night raunch to primetime: Handler will be hosting the MTV Video Music Awards. The comedienne announced the gig on her E! talk show, "Chelsea Lately," on Wednesday (August 18).

"Everyone knows that when you think of rap music and hip-hop you think of 'Chelsea Lately.' And that's why I will be hosting [the show]," Handler quipped, before urging her staff to vie for the extra tickets MTV gave her. "Let the ass-kissing begin," the funnywoman smiled.

Handler will work the mic at this year's awards show, which airs live from Los Angeles on September 12 at 9 p.m. ET. This is the first time the L.A.-based star will host the event where celebs like Lady Gaga, Eminem, Drake, Usher and Katy Perry are up for Moonmen. Among the performers set to hit the stage are Kanye West, B.o.B, Florence and the Machine and Handler's sometime suitor, Justin Bieber.

The talk-show diva is the latest in a long list of comics to handling host duties at the VMAs. In 1985, Eddie Murphy took the cameras backstage at Radio City Music Hall and surprised guests with an impromptu visit to the ladies room. Arsenio Hall presided over the festivities four years in a row, armed with a collection of Day-Glo suits and a quick wit that sparked the requisite "roo, roo, roo!" chorus from the crowd. Fellow late-night comic Jimmy Fallon kicked-off his 2002 hosting duties with an amped-up musical number. Chris Rock helped MTV turn 20 in 2003, delivering a memorable opening monologue that rivaled the infamous Madonna-Britney Spears-Christina Aguilera smooch. Potty-mouthed Brit Russell Brand flexed his skills on two different coasts; hosting in Hollywood in 2008 and returning the next year to helm the VMA's 2009 New York City homecoming.

What do you think of Chelsea Handler hosting the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards? Sound off in the comments below!

The 27th annual MTV Video Music Awards will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on September 12 at 9 p.m. ET. Fans can go to VMA.MTV.com (or text VMA to 97979 if they are Verizon subscribers) to vote for the winners from now through September 12.

Katy Perry Had To Escape L.A. To Write 'Teenage Dream'

'Everybody climbing on top of each other to get to that next step on the ladder ... sometimes L.A. can get exhausting,' Perry says.

Katy Perry decided to embrace her inner teenage girl when she sat down to write the title track from her forthcoming Teenage Dream album, out Tuesday. And she felt the only place she could get in touch with those warm, fuzzy feelings was her hometown of Santa Barbara, California.

The song, which she co-wrote with and was produced by Dr. Luke, Max Martin and Benny Blanco, recalls a simpler time when love felt like the first time. "Well, going to Santa Barbara, which isn't very far from L.A., it was just like it brought me back home and it took me out of this fast-paced L.A.," she told MTV News. "Everybody climbing on top of each other to get to that next step on the ladder ... sometimes L.A. can get exhausting."

In fact, it was that song that dictated how the entire album would play out. "I wanted to call it Teenage Dream because, really, there's a song on the record ... I wrote that song in Santa Barbara and it was a really pure moment for me because that's where I'm from. And it was where I started my creative juices, and it kind of exudes this euphoric feeling like everyone remembers what their teenage dreams were," she said. "All the girls that were on your poster walls ... and I want to continue to be one of those ... teenage wet dreams."

The track, however, wasn't all that easy to get right. "I'm in the studio fighting with them to change the melody, or I'm fighting for the best lyric at all times," she told Billboard earlier this year. "I think we rewrote 'Teenage Dream' five times for 10 days straight. On the last day, I was so happy to finally get somewhere that we all agreed on."

Perry said that there is a bottom line to the euphoria of the track. "That song is kind of like feeling that way when you were a teenager: really emotional, really invested. ... It's intense being in love and being a teenager. That's what 'Teenage Dream' is about."

Birdman Unveils '900-Karat Chain' In 'Entourage' DVD -- Watch A Clip Here!

But #1 Stunna 'is putting in work,' DJ Scoob Doo says of his new documentary.

The Unveiling: "Entourage: Fetti Holmes Edition"
Not 850, not 899, 900 wawdie! In an exclusive clip from DJ Scoob Doo's new DVD "Entourage: Fetti Holmes Edition" — you can watch right here! — the Birdman shows why he's still the #1 Stunna. The Cash Money Records CEO pulls out one of his most decadent pieces of jewelry and gets the jeweler on the phone for added measure.

"In this clip, it's Birdman talking about he's got a 900-karat chain," Scoob explained. "Not even the chain, it's the medallion. He calls the jeweler clarifying that it's 900 karats. He talks about how that's his favorite piece of all time. He's the type of person that also lets it be known he never re-sold his jewelry. You know how people have their first chain in their first video, swap it out, then get a new one? He has every piece of jewelry he ever owned."

Just for your edification, Baby's piece cost $250,000. (What recession?) The DVD also highlights the Birdman showing off a watch worth a meal ticket.

And while Lil Wayne's Paw has become synonymous with over-the-top indulgence and loyalty to his family, not to mention the business acumen that's kept Cash Money thriving, Scoob told Mixtape Daily that people are going to be surprised to see that Baby isn't afraid to get his hands dirty.

"One thing I noticed is that he is hands-on with everything," Scoob observed. He has been shooting for months with Stunna, both for the "Entourage" DVD and for the Birdman's own upcoming "The Godfather" DVD. "He's not lazy. You would probably think he's in the office waiting for stuff to come to him. He's hands-on with the artist, hands-on with picking beats, picking songs. He's hands-on when it's time to make that big-time decision with no emotion.

"It's not like he orders people to work hard and he doesn't work hard himself. Or it's not like he's sleeping while everybody is working. No, he doesn't sleep either. You hear about Wayne not sleeping and being in the studio all night. Baby may not be recording, but it's not like he's in the other room with strippers and living life — he's finding something to do. He practices what he preaches. He ain't on some sh-- where he's trying to reap the rewards of other people's hard work. He's trying to get his hands dirty, he's putting in work himself."

"Entourage: Fetti Holmes Edition" is currently available on DJScoobDoo.com and has an August 27 street date.

'Nanny McPhee Returns' Is 'Hugely Satisfying,' Emma Thompson Says

'You have so much invested in the story,' she tells MTV News of writing and starring in the sequel.
By Kara Warner

It's hard to believe that it's already been four years since moviegoers first met Nanny McPhee. Emma Thompson's no-nonsense portrayal of the homely-yet-helpful nanny had such a positive impact on audiences that a second installment, "Nanny McPhee Returns," is opening in theaters this week.

We recently caught up with the esteemed actress and the film's writer to discuss why she waited so long to continue her McPhee story (which is based on Christianna Brand's "Nurse Matilda" books) and how being the screenwriter/actress makes the filmmaking experience doubly satisfying.

"There was a big gap ... four years, so I had lots of time to do other things," she explained. Those other things included six films ("Stranger Than Fiction," "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," "Last Chance Harvey" — a performance for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe — "An Education," just to name a few) and getting back to work on writing another "McPhee" installment.

"It's very different to reprise a character if you've also written the story," Thompson said. "You have so much invested in the story, and because I have so much involvement in casting and seeing it come together, there's something hugely satisfying about it, so it's not just a question of, suddenly I turn up on set and I have to put the makeup on. I've been sitting and writing it for years, literally."

Thompson said that, despite the role requiring considerable time in hair and makeup, the fact that the material she wrote inspired it makes it extra special: "In a sense, putting the costume on is the reward for having sat on my own for a few years writing the story."

"Nanny McPhee" opens Friday and co-stars Maggie Gyllenhaal, Rhys Ifans and Maggie Smith and features cameos by Ralph Fiennes and Ewan McGregor.

Drake And Lil Wayne's 'Miss Me' Video To Premiere Thursday

Drake's "Miss Me" video, featuring Lil Wayne, is set to premiere Thursday on MTV at 8 p.m. ET.

The clip was recorded in two sessions: one featuring Lil Wayne before the rapper turned himself in to start his yearlong prison sentence and another more recently in July as Drake put the finishing touches on the visual. The video is Drake's third overall from his debut album, Thank Me Later, following "Over" and "Find Your Love," both of which were directed by Anthony Mandler (Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige, Rihanna).

Earlier this year, Drake spoke with Sway prior to the kickoff of his Away From Home Tour and talked about his collaboration with Weezy.

"It's a pretty straightforward [song]," he told MTV News. "It's a song about being away from what you love and hoping that when you're gone, doing you, somebody out there misses you. It goes for Wayne in his situation and it goes for me in my situation, 'cause I'm on the road for I don't how long right now."

Originally, the song was slated as a collaboration between Bun B and Drake. But Wayne, perhaps with his then-impending jail term in mind, heard the record and wanted to join his protégé on the number.

After "Miss Me" debuts on MTV, the video will be featured on all of the MTV 360 channels, including MTV2, MTV Jams and MTV Hits.

Rosalie's 'Breaking Dawn' Motives Are 'Personal' Not 'Pro-Life,' Nikki Reed Says

'It's about her want, her need to be a mother,' she tells MTV News of her character's fight to save the baby over Bella.
By Kara Warner

As "Twilight" fans well know, there are several slightly controversial and uncomfortable scenes in "Breaking Dawn," the final book of Stephenie Meyer's best-selling series. Going into the last two films, the big questions on fans' minds seem to revolve around the infamous birthing and imprinting scenes.

One key participant in the birthing scene is Rosalie Cullen, who becomes so obsessed with Bella having Edward's baby that she will stop at nothing to see her born — even if it means compromising Bella's life.

When Rosalie herself, Nikki Reed, stopped by to talk with MTV News about her upcoming indie film "Last Day of Summer," we asked what she thinks about her character's firm beliefs on that subject matter and how she'll tackle those difficult scenes in the films.

"Here's how I look at it: I try not to be super opinionated and vocal, because in Hollywood, that seems to only lead you in the wrong direction," Reed said. "I try to relate this particular case to Rosalie and not make it metaphorical or symbolic of anything else."

Reed said Rosalie's strong feelings toward the baby are tied to her prior life as a human and never having had the chance to be a mother herself.

"I think that Rosalie just always wanted to be a mom, and that's how I look at it," she said. "It has nothing to do with being pro-life or anything. I think it's about her want, her need to be a mother, and this is the only opportunity she's ever going to have, so she's willing to let Bella die so she can have that and fulfill that, and that's how I look at it. It's her own personal desires."

"Dawn" screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg also weighed in on the infamous scene recently, telling us she plans to write it so everyone feels the pain of the experience. "I want to see the terror of the experience," Rosenberg said. "I want to have the experience of the fear and feel her pain. I want to feel everyone's pain in this."

What do you think motivates Rosalie to fight for Bella's baby? Let us know in the comments.

B.o.B Promises To Wear Nothing But Rocket Boots To VMAs

'Airplanes' rapper, who's nominated for five awards, will also perform on September 12.
By James Montgomery

B.o.B
Photo: MTV News

First, B.o.B was just a humble 2010 MTV Video Music Award nominee (five times over). Now, he's a VMA performer too.

On Wednesday (August 18), it was announced that the man known as Bobby Ray would be taking the stage at the 2010 VMAs, joining a performers list that now includes Justin Bieber, Kanye West, Drake and Florence and the Machine. It was just the latest in a string of fairly remarkable news for the up-and-coming star of Southern hip-hop, who can already count a #1 album (The Adventures of Bobby Ray) and a pair of smash-hit singles ("Nothin' on You" and "Airplanes") among his accomplishments this year.

And though he presumably didn't know he'd be performing at the VMAs when we spoke to him earlier this month at Lollapalooza, B.o.B was already making plans to wow folks at the show.

"I'm just gonna wear rocket boots the whole night. And nothing else," he laughed. "Buck naked, rocket boots. That's how I roll."

And while we suspect he was just kidding about the nudity (though, really, who can be sure?), B.o.B was dead serious about the honor of being nominated for the VMAs. Even though he didn't really think his chances of winning a Moonman were all that good ... then again, 2010 has been a banner year for him, so who knows?

"I don't know. I really don't know. There are a lot of very talented artists and musicians in the categories I am nominated for, so really, I feel like just being nominated is cool," he said. "Just being there, and showing myself, and being present is the main thing that matters. And if you win, that's cool. You have something to take home, sit on your mantle for the rest of your life and show your kids. 'Back when I was your age, I was winning awards. What are you going to do with your life?' "

Usher's life is all about balance right now. We caught up with him at the World Leadership Awards earlier this month in Atlanta, and he gave us a glimpse into his busy schedule.

"If it's not philanthropy, it's music," he said at the event for his New Look Foundation, which just raised $150,000 for a mobile clinic that will go to Haiti. "If it's not music, it's making sure I got the kids and dropping them off. I'm like super dad right now. The tour is the next step. May do a little acting. I'm definitely in the process of producing a few things, but it's staying busy. If it's not fragrance, then it's lifestyle. If it's cars — I mean owning, not just driving — it's a little bit of everything."

As far as his music goes, his latest song, the Jay-Z-featuring "Hot Tottie," is in heavy radio rotation. The record — whose name is a variation on a hot toddy mixed drink — is just a taste of the heat Usher has to offer on his upcoming EP, Versus.

"In terms of 'Hot Tottie,' it's another incredible record that's gonna be part of the re-release of Raymond v. Raymond [called] Versus," he said. "There's a few more. You guys check it out. Videos, we're in the process of working on that as well."

Versus is slated to drop Tuesday.

The countdown has begun. With a little less than two months until Taylor Swift releases her new album, Speak Now, fans can now get a peek at the album's cover art. On Wednesday (August 18), Swift revealed what the October 25 LP will look like.

The image shows Swift twirling in a sparkly, deep-purple gown. She completes the look with her signature curls and bright red lips. Fans are already loving Swift's first single from the album, "Mine," a country-tinged pop tune about the ups and downs of falling in love again after being hurt.

The video for "Mine" is set to debut on August 27 on MTV, VH1 and CMT. Her "You Belong With Me" director, Roman White, is onboard for this one too. And Swift is keeping up her track record of casting adorable male leads: In the latest, she'll have the help of British import and "Black Swan" star Toby Hemingway.

"I was doing some more research and watched another movie he was in called 'The Covenant,' " she said about Hemingway. "I've got this crazy 13 lucky thing, and he walks onscreen for the first time wearing a sweatshirt with a 13 on it! That was the deciding factor. It wasn't really up to me, it was about the number." Swift will also perform the song during a CMA special next month.

As for the album, Swift admitted she's using her personal experiences as fodder for the tracks.

"For me, I write everything that I live, so you got to give yourself a little bit of time to live a lot of things so you can write about a lot of things, and my only option is to write about what I've been through and what I've lived, so thankfully, in the past two years, I've experienced a lot of things that I've been dying to write about and a lot of things that I wanted to say in the moment that I didn't," she explained.

For fans who may have doubted whether the Britney Spears "Glee" episode is happening, the pop sensation has just provided photographic proof.

The star gave fans a glimpse of her inner-"Gleek" on Wednesday (August 18) by posting a TwitPic of herself next to her assistant Brett Miller, a Spears doppelgänger, both sporting similar specs and wavy blond locks.

After devoting episodes to the dance-floor-filling repertoires of Madonna and Lady Gaga, "Glee" is hard at work bringing Spears' string of hits to William McKinley High. So far, Spears, who makes a cameo in the upcoming episode, is enjoying the process.

"About to do my first shot of the day for Glee tweeties! Here we goooo!" Spears tweeted. The "Circus" singer later added, "What's up GLEEKS? Having so much fun on set!! Can't wait for you guys to see the episode!"

The "Glee" cast is also pumped to turn out Spears' smash-hit catalog. "I get to do Britney Spears!" Heather Morris exclaimed to MTV News earlier this month. "I like 'Toxic' the best or the 'Slave' video. It was always her best performance. She's rocking! I don't care what I do."

Jenna Ushkowitz confirmed that Lea Michele would take on Spears' star-making debut hit, " ... Baby One More Time." Aside from Spears' TwitPic — in which she's presumably in costume — and "Glee" creator Ryan Murphy's recent comments that Spears will "kind of" play herself, details about the episode have remained under wraps.

"Some old Britney, some new Britney, some Brittany of our Brittany from the glee club. So it should be funny," Ushkowitz hinted about the song selection. "We're really excited. I love Britney Spears."

What role do you think Britney will play on "Glee"? Let us know in the comments below!

Jay Electronica is on what can best be described as a world tour. Stationed now in London after making stops in Egypt and Jordan, the New Orleans rapper says he's overseas both out of curiosity and for work purposes. Electronica is wrapping up Act II, the follow-up to his much-heralded mixtape Act I: Eternal Sunshine (The Pledge).

His next tape will feature the breakout track "Exhibit C" and mark the first offering from the nomadic MC since he premiered the Just Blaze-produced single earlier this year on Eminem's SiriusXM satellite radio station, Shade 45.

"It's gonna be finished soon," Jay Elect told the UK's DJ Semtex about Act II during a recent interview. "I want to release it on my birthday, that's September 19, and I'm pushing toward that."

Electronica has raised his profile over the past year or so, from live tweeting the birth of his and Erykah Badu's child to delivering stellar live shows. He's also dropped a select sampling of bangers, including "The Birth of Christopher Wallace."

In addition to "Exhibit C," "Dear Moleskin" is expected to be featured on Act II, as well as collaborations with Nas; production duties are shared by Just Blaze, Dilla, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, Mr. Porter and the rapper himself.

"I never got a moment where I feel I made it, victory, completion," Jay told Mixtape Daily back in February. "I've had moments of excitement. I can't believe people are responding like this. It's an overwhelming thing — even though it's something you planned for, it's a surprise."

One is a teen pop phenomenon known for inducing Beatles-level hysteria in his fans, the other, a free-spirit Atlanta MC whose debut album suddenly shot to pop success. Now, Justin Bieber and B.o.B are set to hit the stage as performers at this year's 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. Bieber and B.o.B join already announced performers Kanye West, Drake and Florence and the Machine.

Four-time nominee Ke$ha and "Twilight" star Ashley Greene will also be among the night's presenters when the show goes live on September 12 from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. The night will mark the first VMA performances for both Bieber (who presented at last year's ceremony) and B.o.B.

"I'm excited to be performing at the VMAs. It is all still unbelievable, because last year I went for the first time and no one knew who I was," said Bieber, who's nominated for Best New Artist. "Just really shows that dreams can come true and what incredible, dedicated fans I have. I'm a lucky guy and grateful. Now I just want to get on that stage, have some fun in front of my heroes, because at the end of the day I'm still a kid and still a fan."

B.o.B is up for five Moonmen, including Video of the Year and Best Male Video.

"It's very special to me. I think it's a lot more special than the success of the singles, because this reflects the work I've put in over the years and the word of mouth I've helped create," B.o.B recently told MTV News about his nominations. "It's definitely amazing. I'm trying to find the words to explain it, but I can't. It's inexplicable. I'm a real simple man, so, you know, I accept every gift with generosity and gratitude."

Other previously announced presenters include Nicki Minaj, Emma Stone, Penn Badgley, Trey Songz, Selena Gomez and Ne-Yo. Additional performers and presenters, as well as the VMA host, will be announced in the weeks to come.

Bieber recently shot a new VMA promo in which he made like the Beatles, with a group of rabid female fans chasing after him — something he had no issues with. "I'm kind of like the Beatles running, and there's girls chasing after me," he said about the retro-flavored promo. "I like girls chasing me, so it's good."

Dr. Frank Ryan's Fatal Crash Reignites Texting-While-Driving Debate

Posted: 18 Aug 2010 04:50 AM PDT

'It has stopped being an oddity when we hear that someone was texting and has a wreck,' an emergency physician tells MTV News.
By Mawuse Ziegbe

In a case of multitasking gone horribly wrong, plastic surgeon Dr. Frank Ryan was apparently sending out a tweet before his car fell off a cliff Monday. The surgeon, best known for performing several surgeries on "The Hills" starlet Heidi Montag, was apparently typing about his border collie before his Jeep Wrangler plummeted from Malibu's Pacific Coast Highway.

The accident demonstrates the very real danger of texting or tweeting while driving, an activity that has reportedly spiked in recent years.

"I hear, almost daily, accounts of people who are injured while texting," said Dr. Angela Gardner, president of the American College of Emergency Physicians. Gardner, who is also an assistant professor of emergency medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, told MTV News that sometimes, linking an accident to texting is difficult if the phone is destroyed or tossed from the scene of the incident. However, Gardner did say texting-related accidents are becoming commonplace.

"[There is] definitely an uptick and a noticeable one," she said. "It has stopped being an oddity when we hear that someone was texting and has a wreck. Now it's more of a fairly common occurrence."

While sending out a status update during a leisurely drive may seem innocuous, Gardner said it only takes a moment for distracted drivers to become vulnerable.

"There's two things [that can lead to accidents]: The obvious one is that one hand is off the wheel if you're holding a phone. The other thing is that, as fast or as good as you are at texting, it still takes that microsecond of looking away from the road, and that microsecond is when accidents occur," Gardner said. "The theory is that people look away for a minute, and then they realize the car is going off the road, and they jerk the car back. It's the compensation movement that can cause a car to roll over."

Several states have laws in place curtailing cell phone use while driving, and many, including, where Ryan died, have outright bans on texting while on the road. A 2009 study by the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute revealed that truck drivers were more than 20 times as likely to be involved in a crash while texting. The study indicated that sending messages in particular was significantly more dangerous than dialing or talking on the phone.

"People don't realize — and it's not just young people, it's everyone with a cell phone — that moment that you look away from your phone is the moment it could take to have a wreck," Gardner said. Gardner noted that people often have an "irresistible urge" to respond to a text or tweet but offered a straightforward suggestion for drivers who feel tempted to type while still on the road. "My advice is put the phone away," Gardner said. "Put it in your pocket, put it in your purse. Put it away until you're done with your trip."

The underlying subject matter of Jason Bateman and Jennifer Aniston's romantic comedy "The Switch" — although a serious issue — is ripe with comedic possibilities in their upcoming film. In brief, Bateman's character, Wally, unwittingly ends up being the sperm donor to his best friend (Aniston), but doesn't find out until almost seven years later.

When MTV News caught up with the stars as they promoted the flick, opening Friday, we asked them to explain the technicalities of "basting" or "donating," as it happens in the context of the film.

"Well, you can't really give that away," Aniston told us, declining to reveal what happens in the switch/basting sequence. "Because that's one of those scenes in the movie, when I say I laughed out loud, I laughed out loud [when I read it in the script]. It's one of those things where you go, 'They did not just ... that did not just happen. Really?' And then, 'How is he going to get out of this one?' It's again, one of the things that made me laugh hysterically about this movie."

Bateman was far more forthcoming on the subject, specifically a broad description of the procedure.

"The basting process is one where a baster, which is an injecting item, needs to be placed firmly inside the female to introduce an element that may create a child," Bateman explained matter-of-factly. This made us wonder, does Bateman consider himself something of an expert on the topic since filming "The Switch."

"Unfortunately, no," the actor said. "I do not have any hands-on experience; it was just explained to me in theory."

While Bateman may not be a pro on the subject of insemination, he was downright philosophical when MTV News asked him to consider the sexier of two donations: blood or sperm? "Well, if I was in China, they wouldn't need any extra sperm. If we were in, let's say, Afghanistan, they might need some extra blood."

A lawyer for "Jersey Shore" star Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi was in a Seaside Heights, New Jersey, courtroom on Wednesday (August 18), where he entered a not guilty plea on behalf of his client.

According to The Associated Press, attorney Raymond Raya entered not-guilty pleas to three charges of disorderly conduct and creating a public nuisance stemming from a July 30 incident in which police said Polizzi became disruptive on the beach during filming for the show.

Snooki did not appear at Wednesday's hearing in municipal court in Seaside Heights, the shore town she and her housemates have made famous, thanks to their exploits on the MTV reality series. Prosecutors said Snooki, 22, could also face an additional public nuisance charge. A trial in the case is scheduled for September 8.

Photos taken on the day of the arrest showed Snooki walking along the boardwalk with "Shore" pals Vinny and Ronnie. In the images, the pint-size poofstress is sporting a hot-pink tiger-print T-shirt that reads "I Heart Snooki," a baseball cap, a miniskirt and green slippers. She was reportedly taken in after beachgoers complained that she was bothering them.

A week later, a defiant Snooki said that despite spending a few hours in police custody, taking a mascara-smeared mugshot and facing a potential fine of $250 to $1,000, she wasn't sweating the arrest.

"I don't know why people are taking it so seriously," Snooki told MTV News. "I had a couple cocktails and they just put me in a drunk tank to sober me up. I was on the beach. It happens to the best of us, and I'm not planning on going back to jail ever again. I was a public nuisance — big deal!"

Even if she's found guilty, Snooki will not face jail time, which is good, because she believes she's way too fab to be behind bars. "I'm too pretty to be in jail," she said. "I'm a good person. I'm not a criminal, and I will never go back there. ... You can't even contain me. When I was in there, I was like, 'Can I come out? I can't breathe!' Not a fun place. I will never go back."

Gucci Mane had momentum on his side like fries to a cheeseburger back when he was about to release his last album, 2009's The State vs. Radric Davis. He had a string of successful mixtape releases, he appeared on songs with Mariah Carey and the Black Eyed Peas, and he was named one of MTV News' Hip-Hop Brain Trust's Hottest MCs.

Then Gucci landed in prison for a parole violation, and his buzz fizzed like flat soda.

Now, the rapper has finally wrapped his follow-up album and said that this is his best chance to capitalize on his underground allure. "The Appeal is officially finished. It's mixed and mastered, and the artwork is done," he told MTV News from the set of one of his upcoming videos (he's currently filming two at the same time). "I'm just out here promoting it and letting everyone know it's coming. Just bring awareness to it 'cause I want everyone to know it's coming and to support it because it's a masterpiece."

Gucci has been busy since he was released from prison in May. The rapper appeared at Atlanta radio station Hot 107.9's Birthday Bash, he filmed a video for Lil Wayne's "We Be Steady Mobbin'," he planned a collaboration with Drake, and he's released another set of mixtapes, including Mr. Zone 6, which he told Mixtape Daily would be the "Mixtape of the Year."

"Biggest mixtape of the summer, by far," Gucci said about his tape, an ode to the neighborhood in Atlanta where he grew up. "When y'all get it, guarantee I win Mixtape of the Year."

Is Aerosmith's Steven Tyler A Done Deal For 'American Idol'?

The revolving door of "American Idol" judge rumors continues to churn, with new headlines seemingly confirming that Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler has signed a deal to join season 10 of the reality singing competition.

Though a spokesperson for "Idol" said Fox had no comment on the reports, Deadline Hollywood reported Wednesday (August 18) that according to unnamed sources close to Tyler, the "deal is done" for the swivel-hipped 62-year-old rock icon to take his seat on the show.

The site also reported that the new CEO of "Idol" producer CKX recently announced plans to reveal the names of the replacement judges taking over for Simon Cowell and Ellen DeGeneres after Labor Day on September 6. Spokespeople for Tyler and Aerosmith could not be reached for comment at press time.

Tyler's longtime foil, 'Smith guitarist Joe Perry, has spoken out about feeling blindsided by news that his frontman may be jumping into the TV game after nearly 40 years fronting the rock legends. The pair have openly battled over the past year due to Tyler's desire to work on solo material, a fight that nearly broke up the band when Perry began looking for a new singer.

According to the Toronto Globe and Mail, despite making up and working together on Aerosmith's current summer tour, that tension may have boiled over Tuesday night at the Air Canada Centre during a performance of their hit "Love in an Elevator." After Tyler playfully hip-checked Perry during the song, Perry ripped off a solo, looked over his shoulder and reportedly backed into his singer, sending Tyler flying off the catwalk into the audience, bringing to mind a scene from last year when Tyler slipped off the stage during a show and was injured, ending the band's touring plans for the year.

E! Online, citing unnamed sources as well, reported that Tyler had signed on the dotted line for "Idol," reiterating claims made by once-again producer Nigel Lythgoe that potential judge Jennifer Lopez is not out of the running despite allegations of diva demands by the singer that reportedly scotched her deal. Lopez's reps have not returned requests for comment on her negotiations to become part of the "Idol" panel.

One former "Idol" contestant who is excited about a potential seat for Tyler or J. Lo at the table is 2009 runner-up Adam Lambert, who told Montreal's Virgin Radio that he welcomes some rock and pop attitude on the show.

"I keep hearing them throw around Steven Tyler," Lambert said. "I think that's really cool, because he'll bring a lot of rock credit to the show, and he's an icon. Then they keep talking about J. Lo. It's a great thing too. She has a lot of perspective in the pop/urban world, and she's been an entertainer for a really long time. She knows what it takes to keep it going. I think the two of them kind of contrast each other kind of nicely."

Fantasia's Alleged Boyfriend Antwaun Cook Defends Singer

Many fans have suggested that Fantasia Barrino is in the wrong for allegedly taking up with a married man. However, the married man in question, Antwaun Cook, says the singer is not responsible for breaking up his relationship.

"He knew Fantasia Barrino but the failure of his marriage can in no way be blamed on anyone except the two people that were a part of the union — Paula and Antwaun," Cook's lawyer, Nicole Sodoma, said in a statement on Wednesday (August 18). Sodoma also says that Cook and his wife have been separated for about a year.

"Paula and Antwaun married in 2005. They expected their marriage to stand the test of time," Sodoma said in the statement. "Unfortunately, like many marriages, it did not turn out as planned. In late summer 2009, after years of discussion, the parties separated with the intention of no longer being married."

Last week, Barrino was hospitalized following an apparent suicide attempt. The season-three "American Idol" winner suffered a drug overdose after ingesting a combination of aspirin and a sleep aid. Rumors abounded that the singer's alleged relationship with Cook was a factor in her apparent attempt to take her own life. The incident occurred roughly a week after Cook's wife, Paula, filed court documents alleging that her spouse and Barrino engaged in a "covert adulterous affair" and created a sex tape together.

Despite recovering from her overdose and weathering criticism from fans about her alleged relationship with Cook, Barrino is already back to promoting her new album. The "Bittersweet" singer has several scheduled television appearances in the next few weeks as she builds buzz for the release for her third album, Back to Me, which is set to drop on August 24. The single "Bittersweet" is currently at #10 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
