"American Idol" fans are very opinionated when it comes to the judging panel.

Auditions for the 10th season are in full swing, however, as the Fox hit continues to comb the country for new talent, producers still have not confirmed a final judges lineup. Fans waiting to check out the American Idols Live! Tour in Los Angeles on Friday (August 13), offered suggestions about who should dish out feedback when the next season kicks off.

"Gene Simmons would have been amazing," George Garcia told MTV News. "Howard Stern too because Howard Stern [has] that mouth." Garcia said that Jennifer Lopez, a much-rumored addition to the "Idol" panel, could have added "flavor, but I heard she was asking for outrageous stuff."

Diane Emerson is rooting for onetime mentor Harry Connick Jr. to return to the show as a permanent judge.

"When he helped them be a mentor, he helped them so much, each and every one of them," Emerson said. "He knew what he was talking about and I think he should become a judge."

Chloe Coleman is on Team J. Lo and said, "Jennifer Lopez would be interesting."

Kayla Erath said Lopez' star power would mean an uptick in viewers. "I think it would be cool if J. Lo's on it because she's really famous and a lot more people will watch if another famous person is on it."

Sarah Garman said that she's down to have Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler join the amateur talent behemoth "to add a little rock [to] it." "That'd be hilarious," Garman smiled. Her pal Jill Davy added, "Yeah, I think they need some rock and roll."

The ladies also said they were up for another buzzed-about singer, Shania Twain, to take a seat at the judges' table. Garman mentioned that Shania would bring "a little country, a little twang," to the competition. Davy also pointed out that Twain, who appeared as a guest judge on the ninth season, already has experience. "Shania's done it before," said Davy.

Chloe Song said that the folks behind "Idol" would probably do well with any of the big-name celebs that have been mentioned as possible additions to the show.

"I think Steven Tyler, Shania Twain and J. Lo are all really well-known singers so I think they'll have really good thoughts and opinions on the 'American Idol' contestants," Song said.

Amanda Slater didn't single out one person in particular but insisted that "Idol" needs someone with the same blunt approach to giving feedback as former judge Simon Cowell.

"I think it needs to be someone that can be harsh like Simon," Slater said. "Otherwise [the show is] too nice. Simon gave the real answers. He was tough but it was needed."

Danielle Slater said that whoever joins the panel next, needs to know what he or she is talking about. "[The show needs] somebody that's good with music [and has] a lot of experience," Danielle said.

"How I Met Your Mother" star Neil Patrick Harris is going to be a father.

On Saturday (August 14), the dad-to-be tweeted the news that he and his longtime partner David Burtka are expecting twins.

"So, get this: David and I are expecting twins this fall," Harris wrote on his Twitter page. "We're super excited/nervous/thrilled. Hoping the press can respect our privacy..." E! Online reports that the twins are due in October via a surrogate.

Harris is facing fatherhood this fall but he also recently delivered another significant project. The actor and occasional awards show host directed a production of the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical Rent, at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. Harris steered a celebrity cast, which included Vanessa Hudgens and the Pussycat Dolls' Nicole Scherzinger, through the production about a motley crew of New Yorkers navigating life in the '90s. Harris recently told MTV News that one of the reasons he's a fan of "Rent" is because of the inclusive message of the musical.

"As people get to be older and older, they start disassociating themselves from different types of people," Harris observed. "And this 'Rent' world sort of does the opposite: It encourages all of that. The diversity that these 25 people have ... just fills your heart."

In addition to welcoming two bundles of joy, the actor is up for three Emmy Awards. Harris was originally only recognized for two nominations but Emmy bosses bumped up his official nod count after inadvertently snubbing the actor for his work as the host of the 2009 Tony Awards.

The rumor-mill has been churning nonstop about which big-name celebs will step behind the "American Idol" judges' table for the upcoming 10th season. Jennifer Lopez is reportedly in the running, alongside Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and country diva Shania Twain. Elton John, Justin Timberlake, Paula Abdul and Usher have also turned up on "Idol" judge wish lists.

One group that has had firsthand experience with the judges' feedback is the "American Idol" contestants. On the Los Angeles stop of the "Idol" summer tour on Friday (August 13), the season-nine contenders spoke with MTV News about their dream judging panel.

"I think Harry Connick Jr. would be really good because he was amazing [as a mentor] on the show," Katie Stevens said. "Supposedly Elton John was talked about. I think that would be really cool too. Hey, maybe J.Lo, J.Lo's cool."

Aaron Kelly is also on Team Connick but said that with "Idol" 's newly-lowered age minimum, contestants and fans could benefit from the perspective of an artist who has scored success early on.

"I think a young judge would be a good idea. Taylor Swift or somebody that got started young," Kelly observed. "There's a lot of teenage fans that watch the show ... so also a young judge would bring in that audience."

Spunky singer Siobhan Magnus suggested the show should incorporate celebs outside of music for the next judges' panel.

"I think the best choice, no question, would be Pee Wee Herman. I'm pushing for it. I'm advocating every chance I get to say it. I think that Pee Wee Herman should be a judge on 'American Idol,' " Magnus declared. She did have some musicians in mind for the gig, who would also make the show a big adventure. "Maybe Ozzy [Osbourne]. Just [because] how fun would that be? Everyone would be like, 'What did he just say?' [Or] maybe someone zany like Lady Gaga who's huge now and just so creative."

Other season-nine contestants are feeling the idea of bringing a little comedy to the competition. In addition to suggesting his fellow "Idol" contender Michael Lynche and '90s hip-hop duo Kid 'N Play, Andrew Garcia rattled off names like Carrot Top and Tony Danza as stars he would put on his dream judges' table. "[Tony Danza is] a cool guy and it'd be cool to have him on the show," Garcia reasoned.

Lee DeWyze also mentioned Danza and threw in Twisted Sister's Dee Snider as potential celebs on his ideal panel, but admitted that he wasn't married to a particular lineup. "I don't know. I'm just throwing random names [out there]," the "Idol" champ shrugged. "But who knows, it could be anybody."

Lynche said he would leave a connection to the original judges' table but also switch it up with some fresh faces.

"You gotta keep the dawg [Randy Jackson] because [he's] so classic. I thought J. Lo was a good pick. I heard that she was rumored to be one of the people up for it," Lynche said. The singer also suggested that he has the chops to dole out feedback to "Idol" hopefuls. "Why not just pick me for the last one?" he said. "Put Big Mike up there."

Casey James said he would keep the final decisions about who moves on each week up to the fans. "Three random people from the crowd that were clapping really loud for me," is who James said he would snag as judges.

Didi Benami said celebs such as Bret Michaels, Tyler, Twain and Lopez would make good judges but also mentioned that star power isn't the most important thing when it comes to picking "Idol" critics.

"I don't really have a dream panel," Benami said. "I just want them to be good and help with the contestants."

The Box-Office Top Five

#1 "The Expendables" ($13.3 million)
#2 "Eat Pray Love" ($8.5 million)
#3 "The Other Guys" ($5.6 million)
#4 "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World" ($4.6 million)
#5 "Inception" ($3.4 million)

It appears it's not the summer of love for Julia Roberts' much-anticipated, Ryan Murphy-helmed, soul-searching flick "Eat Pray Love."

The film version of the best-selling Elizabeth Gilbert memoir opened on Friday (August 13) in second place, behind the action, star-studded "The Expendables."

The hard-charging "Expendables," which features a slew of beefy stars like Sylvester Stallone, Terry Crews and Mickey Rourke, debuted with $13.3 million, easily besting "Love," which raked in $8.5 million.

The cop comedy "The Other Guys," armed with an all-star cast that includes Will Ferrell, Mark Wahlberg, Samuel L. Jackson and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, dropped off to third place with $9 million after bowing at the top spot last week. "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World," which follows funnyman Michael Cera as he clashes with his girlfriend's army of ex-lovers in several video game-themed scuffles, took fourth place with $5.7 million. The Christopher Nolan juggernaut "Inception" is still captivating moviegoers, taking in $3.4 million to land in fifth place. Friday's haul tips the film's total domestic gross over the $240 million mark.

"Step Up 3D," which features dancers such as Alyson Stoner and Stephen Boss in the third installment in the footwork franchise, failed to crack the top 5 in its second week in theaters. The dance movie took in $2.3 million on Friday with "Despicable Me" not far behind with $2.2 million. Both movies were closely followed by the Steve Carell-Paul Rudd vehicle "Dinner for Schmucks," which brought in $2 million. The action thriller "Salt," featuring a raven-haired Angelina Jolie as a spy on the run, picked up $1.8 million.

Season-nine 'Idol' contestants rock the Staples Center.

LOS ANGELES — Friday night (August 13) at the Staples Center saw the return of all top 10 "American Idol" season-nine finalists to Los Angeles for the American Idols Live! Tour. While part of the center was closed, the arena was only a little over half full by the time the show started around 7:45 pm. However, despite the empty seats, die-hard "Idol" fans showed their enthusiasm with homemade signs and t-shirts.

First to take the stage was Didi Benami, decked out in a shimmery top and her blonde locks reminiscent of Taylor Swift. After her first song, "Lay It on Me," Benami drew cheers when she shouted, "Los Angeles! Welcome to American Idol Live! How's everyone doing tonight?" She then strapped on an acoustic guitar and really stretched her vocals on "Terrified."

Next in line was hometown hero Andrew Garcia. The singer broke into his now-famous cover of Paula Abdul's "Straight Up" and then got the crowd on its feet for "Sunday Morning" by Maroon 5.

Katie Stevens followed suit with Demi Lovato's "Here We Go Again." Exactly one year after she received her "Idol" ticket to Hollywood, Stevens, rocking a pair of black gloves and boots, commanded the stage with ease. With a nod to the amount of hurdles she overcame in the last year, she aptly chose Christina Aguilera's "Fighter" as her next tune. While not as dirty as Xtina, Stevens' vocal powers were on par.

Female favorite Tim Urban hit the stage next. He kept things casual in Converse kicks and jeans as he belted the Goo Goo Dolls' "Better Days." But his next choice, Coldplay's "Viva La Vida," was a pale version of the original.

In one of the most electric performances of the night, Siobhan Magnus tore through the Rolling Stones' "Paint It Black," a song that also scored her praise as an "Idol" contender. Wearing what could be described as a rock and roll French maid outfit, Magnus followed with No Doubt's "Spiderwebs." Then she turned things up with the addition of a new song to her set: Muse's "Stockholm Syndrome."

While Magnus was a tough act to follow, Aaron Kelly held his own. Looking grown-up in his leather jacket, Kelly kept it country with Keith Urban's "Somebody Like You," "Walking in Memphis" by Marc Cohn and Rascal Flatts' "Fast Cars and Freedom."

Five of the finalists returned to the stage for an ensemble rendition of Miley Cyrus' "The Climb" before an intermission.

Michael Lynche kicked off the second half of the show in a dapper tux. Showing off his falsetto skills, Lynche crooned Maxwell's "This Woman's Work" and "Ready for Love" by India.Arie. He pulled double duty on his third song of the set, Justin Timberlake's "My Love," taking on both JT and T.I.'s verses. Lynche's performance wasn't all about soulful jams as the singer even squeezed in a shout-out to the Cheesecake Factory.

The night continued with Casey James, who shredded guitar on the Black Keys' "I Got Mine" and Shania Twain's "Don't!" Lynche returned to the stage to join James on Bryan Adams' "Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman?" prompting the ladies in attendance to swoon. James closed his set with his version of the '60s Stones hit "It's All Over Now."

Season-nine runner-up Crystal Bowersox emerged onstage next, declaring, "It's good to be home!" Starting off her set with "What's Up?" by 4 Non Blondes, she elicited the most crowd participation of the night. After some playful banter with a roadie, Mama-Sox picked up a harmonica for Melissa Etheridge's "Come to My Window." She kept the fun-loving spirit going with songs such as the Janis Joplin classic "Piece of My Heart," playing to the fans pressed up against the front barriers.

Next, "American Idol" winner Lee DeWyze hit the stage to a chorus of cheering fans. With most of the audience on its feet, DeWyze ripped a country version of U2's "Beautiful Day." "It's good to be back here," DeWyze proclaimed, and then told fans, "This next song is one of my favorite ones, I think you know it." The singer then launched into a soaring rendition of Elton John's "Rocket Man." He rocked a range of songs and wrapped up with the Kings of Leon smash "Use Somebody."

Closing out the night, the guys returned to the stage for Bon Jovi's "It's My Life," followed by the female finalists' revamp of Kelly Clarkson's "My Life Would Suck Without You." Paying homage to the original "American Idol," the fellas joined the ladies for the end of the Clarkson cover, giving fans almost three full hours of American Idols Live!
