In a giant outline of a neon-lit heart, Katy Perry stood still as she began to sing the lyrics of her latest single "Teenage Dream." Opening the 2010 Teen Choice Awards with a flashy performance of her feel-good song was just the first step in jump-starting the show, which she hosted alongside the guys of "Glee" on Sunday.

"I'mma get your heart racing/ In my skintight jeans/ Be your teenage dream tonight," Perry sang a cappella inside the flashing red heart. Screens filled with falling white drops filled the set as a duo of cheerleaders dashed behind the singer. When the chorus kicked in, Perry ran to the center of the smoky stage. Dangling in front of a towering boxed cage, Perry later joined her dancers for some loose choreography as the stage turned dark with an array of extras dressed as high school stereotypes, including jocks, cheerleaders and hippies. In a dramatic ending, the dancers left the singer solo as she raised her right hand and a shower of fireworks sprinkled over her.

"Welcome to my teenage dream come true: the Teen Choice Awards 2010!" she screamed to the roaring audience.

"Teenage Dream" took a whole new meaning during the singer's gig as host of the awards show, which aired Monday night (August 9). The pop star took the opportunity to turn back the hands of time and play desired high school characters with "Glee" boys Chris Colfer, Kevin McHale, Cory Monteith and Mark Salling.

"Look at how handsome these boys are tonight. I kind of feel really popular, like the popular girl in high school," she told the audience. "Tonight is my chance to go back to high school," the pop star said in a sparkly, strapless minidress.

"Do I want a sexy jock or do I want a sexy geek? But why do I have to pick just one? I insisted that all of you guys be here tonight to host with me," Perry said as she stood in between a line of "Glee" gentlemen.

Whether it was a forcefully hostile cheerleader who didn't know her chant or a bug-eyed goth chick with enough fishnets and accessories to last her the entire school year, Perry's hosting talents proved comical. But her variety of costumes shouldn't be too surprising, as the singer hinted to MTV News back in June that "there's a lot of Velcro involved. But it'll be fun."

In addition to her hosting duties, the singer also visited the podium to accept surfboards ("Choice Music: Single" and "Choice Summer Music Song") for West Coast anthem "California Gurls." She later took to Twitter to celebrate her award, writing, "Oh my goth I won a surfboard."

If you can't get enough of Perry, make sure to keep your eyes peeled for the release of her new video for "Teenage Dream" premiering Tuesday.

Jonas Brothers Give 'Camp Rock 2' Tourmates Tips For The Road

'They're all kind of newbies to touring,' Joe tells MTV News of doling out 'helpful hints.'
By Jocelyn Vena

The Jonas Brothers are veterans of the road. They've been on countless tours in countless cities and logged numerous hours onstage. So when they launched their latest tour over the weekend with a Chicago stop, they were already prepared for the ups and downs of life away from home. But they weren't sure that the "Camp Rock 2" pals joining them were ready for the challenges, so the JoBros made sure to give them some useful advice.

"It's been a lot of fun," Joe Jonas told MTV News about making the trek with their tourmates. "We had a great time shooting the movie with these guys, so to kind of be backstage and there's a lot of people on this tour — everything from dancers to new bands to musicians to actors — you know, the actors that are musicians, it's cool for us to hang out with them."

While it may be all fun and games for the Jonases, the trio know that touring life may not come as easily to their pals.

"They're all kind of newbies to touring, and we've been doing this for quite a while now," Joe added. "So I think it's kind of like, we're giving them helpful hints here and there that we've learned over the past few years."

So what kind of sage advice does Joe and his brothers give?

"You know, make sure you drink tons of water before you go onstage," he advised. "Don't eat a big meal or you'll feel heavy onstage."

Do you plan to catch the Jonas Brothers and company on tour? Tell us in the comments!

Demi Lovato Says 'Camp Rock 2' Album Has 'Emotional' Tracks

Posted: 10 Aug 2010 03:50 AM PDT

'There are times where we pay more attention to the older crowd,' she tells MTV News of Disney soundtrack.

With only a few weeks left until the September 3 premiere of "Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam" on the Disney Channel, fans can prepare by getting familiar with the tunes from the movie's soundtrack, out Tuesday (August 10). Not only is it chock-full of catchy pop tunes co-stars Demi Lovato and the Jonas Brothers are currently playing on tour, but with tracks written by the likes of Kara DioGuardi and Toby Gad, the album is sure to have fans dancing in their living rooms.

But while the entire album will please "Camp Rock" followers, it's the songs with the bigger heart that have deeper meaning for Lovato.

"I'm really excited for fans to hear pretty much all the songs. A lot of the songs are really fun and they're dance songs, but there's also songs that are kind of emotional," Lovato told MTV News at tour rehearsals. " 'It's Not Too Late,' I really enjoyed singing it. I loved performing it," she added. "And also 'Wouldn't Change a Thing' is a song that's really fun to perform because I really get to showcase my voice."

Of course fans will enjoy hearing "Wouldn't Change a Thing," if only because it reunites Lovato and Joe Jonas — on record, at least. "Yeah, it sounds really great [performed live]," she said. "And it's fun too. We're having a good time with it."

Although the "Camp Rock 2" soundtrack songs aren't official Lovato tracks, the singer said she works hard to get into the right headspace to interpret the songs. And she loves singing, which makes it a lot easier.

"You know, not all of the songs are emotional because it's a Disney musical movie, so we like to keep it really upbeat, especially when it's aged towards a younger demographic," she explained. "Kids lose interest, so you have to keep it upbeat, but sometimes there are times where we pay more attention to the older crowd and one of the songs being 'It's Not Too Late.' Even though it's not my song that I wrote or even that's going to be on my album, I'm able to put my personal experiences into it.

"I really enjoy singing, whether it's my own songs or other people's songs."

What's your favorite song on the "Camp Rock 2" soundtrack? Tell us in the comments!

T.I. On His Wedding And Career: 'I'm Happy'

Tip tells MTV News he's 'working hard' on King Uncaged, which is due in September.

T.I. married Tameka "Tiny" Cottle late last month, and they celebrated in three cities (Las Vegas, Miami and Atlanta) with family and friends, including Usher, Bow Wow and Nelly. Tip hasn't commented publicly about his nuptials, and this weekend at the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills, during a press event for his upcoming film "Takers," the King of the South explained his silence.

"You know me, man. I try to keep everything personal, personal," Tip said. "I will say this: I'm happy."

Not only is the Bankhead, Georgia, music icon overjoyed about his personal life, but his career's not too shabby either. His seventh album, King Uncaged, comes out in September, and "Takers," which he starred in and produced, hits theaters August 27.

"I'm happy to be at a place where I can present this film to the world," he told MTV News. "[I'm happy to be] working hard on this album, doing everything I can to continue to add on to the good."

In the film, Tip plays the suave-but-deadly Delonte "Ghost" Rivers, a bank robber who helps orchestrate an elaborate heist not too far after a long prison bid.

"I wanted to play a more interesting, challenged villain," Tip said. "I think Ghost, in the end, is the villain, but initially he's the guy you feel sorry for. Like, 'Why you doing Ghost like that?' He got shot; he went and did time. Now they don't want to do his job. Why not? Later you find out why. He's a bit of a complex character."

Rick Ross Doesn't Get 'Thought Process' Behind Young Jeezy's 'B.M.F.'

The O.D.: A Mixtape Daily Exclusive

You know we only drop Mixtape Daily twice in one day when it really calls for it; we like to give you this dopeness in doses. Earlier, we brought you the latest on Slick Pulla, and now we're going to keep it on the topic of CTE.

As the 1515 fellas were heading out of the headquarters to begin an early b-day celebration for our very own J-Rod, CTE blasted out the new Young Jeezy record "Death B4 Dishonor" from his new mixtape 1000 Grams (due Thursday at 1:03 p.m.). The Snowman raps over Rick Ross' instrumental to "B.M.F. (Blowin' Money Fast)," and a few lines set Twitter on fire: "How you Blowin' Money Fast?/ You don't know the crew/ Oh, you part of the fam?/ Sh--, I never knew." Plenty of people were speculating that Young was throwing not-so-subliminal jabs at Rick Ross, a Def Jam labelmate whom he has collaborated with in the past.

We'll have to catch up with Jeezy and Ross soon to find out what's really going down, but eyebrows were first raised in late June when Jeezy released the track "B.M.F. (The Real Blowin' Money Fast)." Young declined to speak about the song.

We asked Ross what he thought about Jeezy's "B.M.F.," and the Carol City hitmaker said he didn't understand it, but he wasn't upset by the track.

"I haven't had a chance to talk to the homie," Ross said. "I really don't know what the thought process was behind it. My record was called 'Blowin' Money Fast.' It confused me that if it was called 'The Real B.M.F.,' I would have called it 'The Black Mafia Family.' ... You know, you may have to ask him. Other than that, we still reppin', we still riding, and [my] record is getting love everywhere. So it's all good."

Kanye West Shows Off His Artwork In 2005 Video

Years before he collaborated with artist Marco Brambilla for his 'Power' clip, 'Ye shared some early drawings with Sway.

Throughout his career, Kanye West has displayed the soul of an artist, from his austere "Can't Tell Me Nothing" video to the just-released "moving portrait" for "Power."

Back in August 2005, the rapper spoke with MTV News about art and even showed Sway some of his early sketches. Among the collection was a colorful drinking glass, a slow-burning cigarette and a portrait of Emmett Till.

"I think I was always on some sarcastic, trying to get a rise out of people [vibe]," West explained. "I tried to get something that connects more than just the glass. So this is my take on glass."

The collection also included an anime-inspired self-portrait of the "Power" superstar and another image of a man in bed whose life had passed.

"This one was really hard to draw," he said of the latter. "It was a good experience the teacher gave us. We had to deal with perspective."

He admitted, however, the sketch — dated 1995 — was not very good. "Someone should have killed me for how bad it was," he said.

West said for his videos, artwork or graphic imaging he uses drawing "as a language."

Artist Marco Brambilla directed the "Power" clip, and the artist received 'Ye's translation loud and clear, both for the imagery and the rapper's forthcoming album.

"I instantly connected to the themes on the album," Brambilla told MTV News of West's yet-untitled next LP. "The whole idea of celebrity, the idea of power, the idea of sensuality in it, there's sexuality in it as well, and those were all kind of themes that I've explored in my work before. Once I heard the album, that was what clinched it, and I felt very much in tune with the message behind the music."

Snooki On Her Arrest: 'I'm Too Pretty To Be In Jail'

'I'm not a criminal, and I will never go back there,' the 'Jersey Shore' star says of her jail stay.

As far as welcome-back parties go, it left a little to be desired.

Not long after the "Jersey Shore" crew returned to Seaside Heights following their second-season shoot in Miami, poof-haired reality star Snooki was arrested for disorderly conduct on the boardwalk.

Though Snickers spent a few hours in police custody and has an upcoming court date, she's not taking the whole thing too seriously and is looking forward to a GTL-filled summer at the Shore as the second season of MTV's show continues.

"I don't know why people are taking it so seriously," she told MTV News on Friday evening. "I had a couple cocktails and they just put me in a drunk tank to sober me up. I was on the beach. It happens to the best of us, and I'm not planning on going back to jail ever again. I was a public nuisance — big deal!"

The disorderly conduct charge carries a potential fine of between $250 and $1,000, but Snooki will not face any jail time. That's a good thing, clearly, because one place the 22-year-old does not want to be is behind bars.

"I'm too pretty to be in jail," Snooki said. "I'm a good person. I'm not a criminal, and I will never go back there."

"You can't even contain me," she added with a laugh. "When I was in there, I was like, 'Can I come out? I can't breathe!' Not a fun place. I will never go back."

What do you think of Snooki's comments about going to jail? Let us know below!

Jennifer Aniston Is 'Obsessed' With Warren The Ape

'I got an autographed 8-by-10 that is proudly hung on my wall,' 'Switch' star says of meeting foulmouthed primate.

Jennifer Aniston is one of those super-famous A-listers whose image as a celebrity who's as nice offscreen as she is onscreen seems to be well-earned. No rumors of nasty, on-set meltdowns or diva fits ever follow her. So when MTV News caught up with the former "Friend" as she promoted her upcoming movie "The Switch," we were a bit taken aback when she began to gush — unprompted — about a certain furry, foulmouthed MTV star.

"Can I tell you how much I love Warren the Ape? Is that crazy?" asked Aniston, who co-stars in the August 20 flick with Jason Bateman. "I have a headshot on my wall in my kitchen," she admitted proudly. "I'm such a fan, I went to the premiere of the show — mind you, my friend is a producer of it — but I had no idea I would become that obsessed with 'Warren the Ape.' "

Aniston went on to say that she also appreciates addiction specialist Dr. Drew Pinsky's presence in the comedy. "[He] is, of course, quite helpful in that," she added. "I actually got to meet Warren and then I got an autographed 8-by-10 that is proudly hung on my wall in my kitchen."

We suggested that Aniston should consider doing a guest spot on the show. "Trust me, I've already written ideas out in my mind," she said. "I'm not kidding."

Soon after hearing Aniston confess her admiration for Warren, MTV News tracked down the primate to find out what he had to say about his famous fan.

"I admire Jen as a woman of taste and distinction and I've always appreciated her political support of Fabricated Americans like myself," Warren the Ape told us. "She also knows how to rock a bikini."

Don't miss an all-new episode of "Warren the Ape" Monday night (August 9) at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT.

Justin Bieber currently has a lot on his plate. He's on tour. He's working on a book and a movie. He's prepping the release of his next single, "U Smile." And he just wrapped shooting his cameo on "CSI." But that doesn't mean he isn't taking time to give back.

MTV News caught up with the teen star on Friday night at Usher's New Look Foundation's first World Leadership Awards in Atlanta. He was excited to use his celebrity to bring attention to the charity, as well as his voice to bring some tunes to the party.

"You know, I'm really excited to be here to support Usher, my mentor, and his New Look Foundation. I'm here [and] I'm performing tonight. I'm also helping out another charity," he shared on the red carpet. "It's called Pencils of Promise. It's all about giving back and helping out kids that need education. It's really important that I'm able to help out other kids. I'm a kid myself, so it means a lot to me."

While he tweeted his intention to release "U Smile" as a single very soon, at the event, he kept his plans rather vague. "Musically, the next thing you're gonna hear from me is I might be putting out a single in the next couple months," he said. "I'm always making hits."

Bieber also recently added a new job to his résumé. He will be the latest celebrity face for Proactiv acne treatment. "I'm definitely someone who suffers from acne," he says on the Proactiv website. "My parents got acne when they were growing up. And I'm determined to keep myself clear. If I got a face full of breakouts, I would definitely feel really self-conscious and not wanna do photo shoots, not wanna be singing."

'Harry Potter' Has Employed 'All My Family,' Emma Thompson Jokes

Thompson's sister, Sophie, is also in 'Deathly Hallows,' which was 'incredible' to shoot, Emma tells MTV News.

Emma Thompson has been so busy with her "Nanny McPhee" films (she wrote and starred in both) that her visit to the "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" set was very brief. When MTV News caught up with the actress to talk about "Nanny McPhee Returns," Thompson said stepping into the shoes of her kooky "Potter" character, Professor Trelawney, for the last time was short but sweet.

"They were very quick," she admitted of her two days on set. "I just had to do a bit of waving of a wand and a bit of 'ooooo-ing' over dead people, because of course they just had to fit absolutely everyone in."

Thompson said the guest-actor-heavy shooting schedule felt like a "conveyor belt of characters, as this extraordinary machine came to its end." Still, Thompson said she made the most of her "Potter" time and was able to reconnect with friends/co-stars she hadn't seen in a while. "It was incredible to see everyone and just sort of quickly say hello and goodbye."

When we mentioned that it seemed like every working actor in the U.K. has appeared in at least one "Potter" film, Thompson heartily agreed. "Absolutely everyone in equity has been in it," Thompson said of the franchise's lengthy cast list. "Including all my family, practically. My sister just finished. I don't know what the name of her character is; she's got a major role in this last one." (Thompson's sister Sophie plays Ministry of Magic employee/ Proper Use of Magic enforcer Mafalda Hopkirk.)

Thompson revealed that she has seen her sister in action, via a photo of Sophie as Mafalda, with Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) himself.

"I've got a photo of her with Daniel dragging her off somewhere ... so I don't know what [they're doing]; I haven't seen it yet."

What scene do you think is in Thompson's photo? Is Sophie a good fit for the role of Mafalda Hopkirk? Share your thoughts in the comments!

Rihanna Ties Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Mariah Carey For #1 Pop Songs

'Love the Way You Lie' with Eminem becomes her sixth #1 on the pop chart.

Rihanna is making hit songs, breaking records and taking names. The singer is currently tied with a few of her pop comrades for the most #1 songs on the Pop Songs radio airplay chart. She ties with Lady Gaga, Beyoncé and Mariah Carey for the most #1's in the Nielsen survey. Rihanna now has six #1's on her résumé thanks to her chart-topping collaboration with Eminem, "Love the Way You Lie," according to Billboard.com.

Rihanna's other #1 songs on the pop chart include 2006's "SOS" (for one week); 2008's "Take a Bow" (for three weeks); 2008's "Disturbia" (three weeks); her late-2008 T.I. collabo "Live Your Life" (two weeks); and this year's "Rude Boy" (two weeks). "Love the Way You Lie" has been on top for one week so far.

Earlier this year Beyoncé and Lady Gaga tied Mariah Carey for six #1 pop songs with their collaboration, "Telephone." Carey had six songs hit #1 on the Hot 100 before the Pop Songs chart was created in 1993, and then six others since its creation. Meanwhile, Beyoncé collected hers from 2003 to 2010. Gaga was the fastest to tie the record, with all six released from 2009-2010.

Avril Lavigne, Pink, Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake all come in a close second with five #1 pop songs in their careers.

Rihanna had fans talking last week when the video for "Love the Way You Lie" was released. The singer, who was assaulted by then-boyfriend Chris Brown in 2009, appears in the video that depicts a violent love affair between Dominic Monaghan and Megan Fox.

How do you think Rihanna compares to the other women at the top of the pop chart? Sound off in the comments.

Katy Perry is one hardworking girl. In preparation for the release of her new album, Teenage Dream, the singer has hit a slew of magazine covers in barely there outfits and also hosted the Teen Choice Awards, which air Monday night (August 9) on Fox.

But a busy schedule hasn't diminished Perry's self-awareness. In a recent interview with the U.K.'s Guardian, the California Gurl talks about her pop-star status, how being with Russell Brand makes her feel smarter, and why you won't find her getting trashed in your local bar.

"I don't feel like I'm very pop-star lame, but I'm definitely not hipster cool," the singer said told the newspaper. "I'm somewhere right in the middle of it all. Because, for me, I want to sell out, but just not in the 'I've sold out' kind of way. I want to sell out arenas and sell millions of records."

Aside from her career goals, Perry also opened up about her relationship with fiancé Brand. "He's one of the smartest men I've met. I feel smarter just standing next to him," she said. "He knows that I'm young and have friends and a social life, and he was attracted to me. Not, 'Oh let's find a version of myself in a female.' Every once in a while I need to remind him of that, and he listens."

Despite Perry telling Esquire U.K. that she's tamed the "professional prostitute," the singer said their relationship is all about communication, revealing that Brand was probably ready to ditch his swinger lifestyle. "It's not about taming, because that won't last," she said. "Everyone gets saggy t--s. Not everything stays perfect. We all start to slow down. I think he was ready for change. I mean, you just don't have the stamina to be in bed with 80 different women a week when you're 35 and trying to do good work."

As Katy manages both her career and engagement, the songstress knows that she's at a place in her career where she must stay focused in order to avoid the infamous sophomore slump. "You have to bust your ass at this, which is why you don't find me getting sh--faced in bars that much," she said. "It's so intense, it's like you catch a rocket and you're hanging on for dear life and you're like, 'Gooooooo!' The second record, I'm more buckled in, because, God, how many times do you see people slump on their sophomore record? Nine out of 10."

Perry has made sure to make her forthcoming LP a success with a heavy promotional blitz, from magazine covers to her recent awards-show appearances. Her next step in music domination includes the Video Music Awards on September 12, where her "California Gurls" is nominated for Best Female Video, and the release of her "Teenage Dream" video Tuesday.

"I'm still working, like, 13-hour days, five, six days a week and singing on top of it," she said. "And knowing that there's someone right behind me, ready to go, ready to push me down the stairs, just like in 'Showgirls.' "

Lil Wayne And Protege Lil Twist Are 'Like Brothers'

Hey, it's an even exchange. Lil Wayne teaches his protégé Lil Twist about the music business and the teenager teaches Weezy F. Baby about navigating modern technology. It was through Twist's Ustream account in February that Wayne told the world he opened a Twitter account and spit rhymes from Tha Carter IV for fans: "She a monster, but I'm a beast, though/ Take her clothes off, with my teeth, though."

From time to time, Twist takes over Weezy's WeezyThanxYou.com and the @liltunechi Twitter page and posts messages that Wayne dictates to him.

"He calls me," Twist said on the blue carpet of the Teen Choice Awards this past weekend in Los Angeles. "He lets me know what he wants me to update from time and time. Every time he calls, I update everything he wants. That's my heavy connection to his blog site."

Twist is the honorary voice of Lil Wayne until the music icon returns from prison.

"That's a hard job. But I am that. ... Me and Wayne, we're like brothers. He really took me in. He taught me how to do everything, he taught me the music business," Twist added. "We got a strong brother bond."

Also during Wayne's February Ustream, you might recall he shouted out Justin Bieber. The Bieb's connection to the Young Money camp actually runs through Twist. Twist said he spends a significant amount of time with his pop-star homey in the lab.

"I've been working hard on my debut album Don't Get It Twisted," he revealed. "Me and Justin are like best friends. So we're always in the studio or we share thoughts through iChat. Nicki [Minaj], we got a great record for my album also."

Minaj and Justin Bieber are competing in the Best New Artist VMA category along with Ke$ha, Jason Derülo and Broken Bells.

"I don't even wanna join that fight," Twist said about who he would pick between his Young Money family member and homeboy. "Whoever wins, I'm going to be happy."

What do you think about Wayne and Twist's bond? Let us know in the comments!

Justin Bieber Should 'Have Fun' With 3-D Movie, Jonas Brothers Say

'The camera work is really crazy,' Joe Jonas says. 'But I'm sure he'll handle it well.'

Next year, Justin Bieber fans will have the chance to see the singer's story retold on the big screen in a 3-D movie currently in the works. But Bieber won't be the first teen pop star to land in theaters in multiple dimensions.

He joins the likes of Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers, both of whom have already had their live performances delivered to fans in 3-D. And while a director still needs to be chosen for the flick, the JoBros had some advice for Bieber as he prepares to shoot.

"Have fun. It's a really fun experience," Joe told MTV News last week at their Road Dogs baseball game in Joliet, Illinois, just before the brothers kicked off their tour. "The camera work is all really crazy, but I'm sure he'll handle it all really well."

Since they had so much fun the first time around, does that mean there could be a sequel to the "Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience"?

"Maybe," Joe said. "For right now, I think we're just going to be streaming live throughout the summer. We want people to come see the show, but right now we're just really focused on this live show. That's where we're at right now, and we're just getting ready for the first opening night tomorrow night," he told us last Friday.

If the guys ever do decide to make another concert flick, their current tour would be the perfect draw. The JoBros just hit the road for a lengthy tour that features not only pal Demi Lovato, but also a number of their "Camp Rock 2" pals. Plus, there'll be lots of Jonas music.

"We are doing a Jonas Brothers set, and it's actually a lot," Kevin said about the tour, which kicked off in Chicago on Saturday. Kevin teased that fans will be treated to some oldies but goodies.

"We're playing a lot of Jonas Brothers songs, and we're integrating 'Camp Rock' and 'JONAS L.A.' songs [and] songs from our past. We're really excited."

Which songs do you hope the JoBros will include in their set list? Tell us in the comments!

Kanye West's 'Power' Video Is Unlike 'Anything,' Jason Derulo Says

'Those videos are very interesting, actually,' VMA-nominated singer says of West's and Eminem's latest clips.

Last week, Kanye West and Eminem released two equally powerful, albeit very different, music videos, for their singles "Power" and "Love the Way You Lie," respectively. And while Eminem relied on some heavyweight cameos from Megan Fox, Rihanna and Dominic Monaghan to tell his story, West relied on artistic visuals, created with the help of director Marco Brambilla, for what he described as a "painting."

"Those videos are very interesting, actually," "In My Head" singer and VMA nominee Jason Derulo told MTV News on Sunday at the Teen Choice Awards. "I watched the Kanye video and I thought that was very different to anything I've ever seen before. It's not actually a video. It's almost like a moving painting. I thought that was really cool."

Derulo's feelings on West's "Power" mirrored that of something the rapper himself tweeted last week when the video premiered: "IT'S NOT A VIDEO . . . IT'S A PAINTING!!!

So, with West's video acting as a visual mind trip, what did Derulo think of Em's darker, more cinematic video starring two of Hollywood's most recognizable faces and one of pop's most unique voices? Well, the ladies stood out the most for him. "I thought Rihanna looked great in the 'Lie' video," he praised. "Megan Fox looked awesome too. Eminem always does it."

Which video left more of a mark on you, Kanye's or Eminem's? Tell us in the comments!

Lloyd Banks Recruits Tony Yayo, Lloyd For 'Any Girl' Video

The G-Unit MC says his latest video is inspired by the '90s flick 'How to Be a Player.'

Lloyd Banks is taking it back to the jiggy era for his latest video.

The G-Unit MC told MTV News that his newest clip, "Any Girl," is inspired by the '90s comedy "How to Be a Player." In the movie, a slick womanizer — played by former MTV VJ Bill Bellamy — juggles his many conquests. "Any Girl" shows Banks trying not to get caught in his web of women.

"I'm running through my day-to-day going to see a few of my girls. I got a white girl, I got [a] Spanish girl, a black girl and I'm going to basically lie to them and tell them how much I love them and how much I want to see them," Banks explained.

However, after spending time maneuvering through his ladies, the MC has to eventually face the music. "The girl who's playing my sister, she's actually setting me up and she has these same girls coming to see me at the party."

Fellow G-Unit rapper Tony Yayo makes a cameo in the video. He said that even though the visuals are inspired by a film, Banks has plenty of personal experience to pull from.

"Banks is ... a player for real," said Yayo. "It's really his real life story."

Banks isn't the only ladies man in the video; singer Lloyd also pops up in the clip. The MC broke down how the collaboration came together and said Lloyd wasted no time putting his soulful touch on the track.

"He ... flew into New York [and] knocked out the record in like 15, 20 minutes," Banks revealed. The G-Unit rapper said the pair shared a similar hunger to make a memorable collabo. "His work ethic is incredible. He was actually independent at the time so ... it was no restraints. It was like, 'Let's go!' "

Lloyd's studio grind may have impressed musical peers such as Banks, but the crooner maintained that he puts in the work for the fans.

"It's about making the best music for people to listen to," the singer said. "It's about entertaining the consumers and ultimately, for me, it's about connecting."

Slick Pulla Is 'Focused On The Greenbacks,' Not Waka Flocka Flame

After dropping his Slicktionary, Atlanta CTE member looks toward the future with Mixtape Daily.
By Shaheem Reid

This Week's Main Pick

Street King: Slick Pulla

Holding It Down For: CTE/USDA

Mixtape: Slicktionary

Real Spit: Welcome home to CTE's own Slick Pulla. The USDA member came home in early January after spending two and half years in jail. He did three months of work release and three months of house arrest with a leg monitor. Now, he can now move more freely for the remainder of his four-year parole. The leg monitor is off and he's ready to start touring.

"It wasn't no problems with the law," Slick said in his Atlanta studio. "It was a possession of firearms bid due to certain circumstances. Due to a certain lifestyle, you feel that's how you got to move. Unfortunately, I already had an 'F' on my report card. That's not how the powers that be felt. I sat down. ... When you go in jail, you can do two things: You can come out dumber and go back; or come out smarter and go harder for your family and loved ones. That's pretty much the gist on that."

Obviously, Pulla is doing the latter. He just recently released his first post-prison work, a mixtape called Slicktionary, hosted by the Black Bill Gates, and is already well into recording the follow-up. Besides his music, Slick has maintained a relatively low profile — that is, except for the reports that his crew and Waka Flocka's entourage got into a scuffle at ATL clothing epicenter Walters in March. The altercation led to gunshots, but no one was arrested. Pulla refutes talk of his involvement.

"Slick's name was in some sh--. That's all that was," he said.

As for the "Hard in Da Paint" rapper, Pulla says the only thing on his radar right now is money.

"At this present time, I'm focused on the greenbacks, the frog skin," he said. "I got tunnel vision. I'm in a zone right now. I'm looking straight ahead. All that stuff on the left and right side, I'm not even worried about it."

Slick is looking into acting and the GA OG also just launched "Slick Prints," his own brand of T-shirts.

Joints to Check For:

"Black Ice (The Preface)." "The reason I chose the beat is because how I do the music — I don't know how anybody else does the music — it takes me back to a certain time in my life," Pulla said. "When [Goodie Mob's] Still Standing CD came out, I wasn't even in the music then. I was a fan of the music. Goodie Mob, the whole Dungeon family, they set the blueprint for a lot of what's going on today. That beat right there ['Black Ice (Sky High)'], it brought all them times back."

"Hood Rich Freestyle." "I did the Eminem track ['Lose Yourself'] 'cause one day I was in the halfway house and I seen the video," Slick recalled. "It was on '106 and Park' for the 'Throwback of the Day.' How the beat climaxed! My homeboy was like, 'You need to snatch that up.' "

"On Da Radar." "That's just a street anthem," he explained. "If you a hustler or about your money or whatever you do for a sack, you can relate to it. The hook goes 'I love money/ Broke ain't on my radar.' I love money, I'm trying to get it up."

'The Other Guys': Five Secrets Revealed

Find out more about the Mark Wahlberg/Will Ferrell comedy, including the reason behind its many TLC quotes.
By Eric Ditzian

On Friday, we revealed five secrets about Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg's buddy cop flick "The Other Guys," from the explanation for Paris Hilton's missing cameo to how they managed to get such a curse-filled movie to be rated PG-13.

We got the inside scoop from co-writer/director Adam McKay, who called up MTV News shortly before the film opened and went on to reel in $35.6 million over the weekend. McKay also let slip a bunch of other secrets that were simply too spoilery to publish on Friday (August 9). Now, as "Other Guys" enjoys its place at the top of the box office, we're pushing forward with five more secrets revealed (of course, beware of spoilers below!).

Why Jackson and Johnson Plunged Off a Roof to Their Deaths

This out-of-nowhere game-changer comes about 15 minutes into the movie: the tough-guy cops played by Samuel L. Jackson and Dwayne Johnson actually die after they miscalculate a roof jump and land with a crunch on the sidewalk. McKay told us that they entertained a number of funny and unexpected deaths before settling on the failed roof jump.

"The first thought we had was that they get a call for a chase, and they pull out to join it, and just get broadsided by a truck that had nothing to do with the chase," he said. "Then we just played with the idea of a really ignominious death — autoerotic asphyxiation — but we knew there was no way we could get that into a PG-13 movie. Even though it makes me and you laugh, 80 percent of the audience would be flat-out horrified. The one we really liked — and we came close to doing it — was that they were in a shootout and they just got shot. If you have too many shootouts, you're going to get shot. I think even the forensic guy was like, 'They were in 90 shootouts. You're gonna get shot eventually.'

"But the jump was just so much fun," he continued. "Originally in the script, you didn't see them hit the ground. But I thought, 'You gotta shoot that.' It could be either grisly or fantastic. Once the Foo Fighters' song got in, we knew we had it. For a second, you think you're watching the worst filmmaking ever. Are they really playing this song during a fake Hollywood jump? And then they die!"

How They Pulled Off the Motion-Capture Bar Scene

The film's most visually stunning scene is one that even James Cameron might applaud. It's a freeze-frame, continuous-shot bar scene in which Ferrell and Wahlberg are caught mid-action in a series of drunken incidents. The scene honestly defies easy explanation, which is why we waited until now to reveal how McKay captured it.

"My DP, Oliver Wood, and I had seen this Phillips short film with cops fighting clowns," he explained. "We loved it, but I think that cost $4 million to shoot. At first we were going to do digital camera stills, and I just thought that was boring and we kind of did that already on 'Talladega Nights.' Then Oliver said, 'I think we can do the Phillips thing,' and in four days we came up with the plan.

"We got this motion-capture camera that you program so the camera moves exactly the same every time," he added. "It was similar to what they did in 'The Matrix' with the flying bullets. They weren't wearing motion-capture suits. I wish I had thought of that. I would have made Will wear one for no reason. We just wrote joke scenarios of a night gone horribly wrong. We went to this bar on the Upper West Side [of Manhattan] and shot it in half a day. We cast stuntmen and women who could hold poses. Our special effects company, Evil Eye, added all these funny elements."

Why Keaton Quotes TLC

Michael Keaton plays the NYPD precinct captain who's always barking orders at Ferrell and Wahlberg. He also has a strange and hilarious habit of quoting TLC lyrics without seemingly having any idea who that group is. It's a gem of a recurring bit, and it came about entirely by accident.

"We were trying to write phrases for the captain that were tough-guy euphemisms," McKay said. "We had a draft where he said all this crazy stuff and out of that I started to say, 'Don't go chasing waterfalls,' and everyone started laughing. Then we called it back two more times, and then Keaton was doing them so well, we added more."

"We came up with a whole backstory that he drove his son to college and his son played a TLC greatest-hits CD the whole time but the captain was never aware what he was listening to," he added. "We knew at least 35 percent of the audience would have no idea who TLC is, but we were like, 'Screw it! It's too funny!' "

Why McKay Had Such a Weird Cameo

Last week, we revealed why Paris Hilton's cameo was left on the cutting room floor. Now we turn our attention to McKay's cameo as a demented homeless man who is the ringleader of a roving gay orgy gang. Yes, it is all as bizarre as it sounds.

"We originally had it just as a reference about all the horrible stuff that happens to [Will's] car [after it gets stolen]," he said. "We did a table re-write and Andrew Steele, the head writer for Funny or Die, came up with this joke that the thieves left a thank you note. That made us laugh, and then we named the thieves Dirty Mike and the Boys. Then we're like, 'We've got to see them.' I always like to do something small in our movies, so I was like, 'All right, it's me!'

"So we shot this riverside scene and just did thirty minutes of the filthiest improv you've ever heard in your life, and had to cut everything except what you see in the movie," he continued. "But the extended DVD has all the nastiness."

A Sequel Just Might Happen

After the collapse of "Anchorman 2" this spring, fans might be wondering if we'll ever see a sequel from one of the four big-screen collaborations between McKay and Ferrell. McKay revealed that we just might see "The Other Guys 2" down the road.

"We had fun shooting this and we talked about it," he said. "There's almost a novelty to doing a sequel at this point. The two we were talking about were 'Step Brothers' and 'Other Guys.' We don't want to get ahead of ourselves. But I would be happy to go back into this world. I never got tired of seeing Will and Mark going back and forth."

Check out everything we've got on "The Other Guys."
