| Russell Brand Files For Divorce From Katy Perry Posted: 30 Dec 2011 01:06 AM PST Couple calls it quits after a week of swirling rumors.
It appears that one of entertainment's most spirited couples -- Katy Perry and Russell Brand -- are heading for divorce. After the two were spotted separately over the holidays -- neither wearing their wedding rings -- rumors of a split reached a fever pitch Thursday. Now TMZ is reporting that Russell Brand has filed for divorce in Los Angeles citing "irreconcilable differences."
Brand has released a statement, saying, "Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I will always adore her and I know we'll remain friends." The couple, who met at the 2008 VMAs and married in India in 2010, have no children. Brand recently addressed the breakup rumors with Ellen DeGeneres. "There are always rumors, aren't there? In the end, you have to just not engage with Internet technology, which is difficult because a lot of the nude women websites I quite enjoy," Brand joked. "I've treated the whole Internet now like it's a wicked little liar. Yeah. I am really happily married," he added. "I'm married to Katy. Perpetually, until death do us part was the pledge." Perry took to Twitter in November to brush off earlier rumblings. "First I'm pregnant & then I'm divorced. What am I 'All My Children'?! #ericakane #pshhh #ifihadadollarforeverytime ...," she tweeted. T.I. has a lot to celebrate this New Year's Eve. This time last year, the King of the South was locked up, serving an 11-month sentence for a probation violation, but since his September release Tip has been on a tear, dropping a ton of new music and landing a reality show with his wife, Tiny, on VH1.
Tip has some big plans for ringing in the new year, even though he tries to downplay things. "For New Year's I'm gonna be waitin' on F--- da City Up to drop. We got a party poppin' off down here in Atlanta, 200 Peachtree. We gonna turn up and it's basically that," he told MTV News nonchalantly. "Between the party and the mixtape, that's all I got going. New year, new money. That's that." Tip has been dropping viral teasers for F--- da City Up for about a week; the latest one, which dropped on Tuesday, shows T.I. in the studio with Dr. Dre. "Dre was here. He sent for me, and of course I answered. We really just turned up more than anything else. It was about creating chemistry," T.I. told MTV News while in Atlanta preparing for the release of the tape. On New Year's Eve, T.I. and his Grand Hustle fam will host a party in the Grand Atrium at 200 Peachtree in downtown Atlanta from 9 p.m. ET to 3:00 a.m. Sounds like fun. For those who want to snuggle up on their couch and avoid all the partying madness, MTV has your back. This year Demi Lovato, Mac Miller, Selena Gomez, J. Cole, Jason Derulo and more will be on hand for "NYE in NYC 2012," which will air live at 11 p.m. ET on Saturday (December 31) from Times Square, where the famous ball drops on, you guessed it, MTV. | Jason Derulo Promises 'High-Energy' MTV New Year's Set Posted: 30 Dec 2011 05:53 AM PST Singer will perform on MTV's 'NYE in NYC 2012' along with Mac Miller, Selena Gomez and J. Cole.
It's almost that time to ring in the new year, and what better way to do so than with MTV? "NYE in NYC 2012" will air live at 11 p.m. ET on Saturday from Times Square, hosted by Demi Lovato and Tyler Posey of "Teen Wolf." Also on hand to count down will be some of music's biggest stars, including J. Cole, Mac Miller, Selena Gomez and Jason Derülo, who will be performing in our Times Square studios.
"I cannot think of another way to bring the new year in than with MTV." Derülo told MTV News. "I'm excited — new year, new beginnings." Derülo plans to excite the crowd with two hit songs from his sophomore album, Future History, which was released earlier this year. "I'll be doing 'It Girl' and 'Don't Wanna Go Home,' a medley of the two," Derülo revealed. "[There will] be a lot of high-energy dancing." Derülo isn't just gearing up for his own performance, he's excited to see what his fellow performers have in store for the big night. "It's going to be a crazy show, I hope you guys are tuning in because lots of great performers," Derülo said. "You have different flavors from all around." Of course, with a new year comes a new resolution, so what will Derülo be doing differently in 2012? "Not being late to a lot of places." Derülo said. "I don't want to say I'm usually late; I'm fashionably late. I think being 20 minutes is a little too much, but if you're in the 15 margin, I think you're golden."
