That Taylor Swift sure does know how to work the "awww!" effect into her music, and even more so in her sweet and wholesome music videos, with their varying themes on love: whether it be lost, won or rekindled.

Her latest clip is for the country-tinged ballad "Ours," a bonus track from last year's Speak Now, which debuted Friday evening (December 2) on E! Once again, Swift serves up nearly four minutes of sweetness. The video opens up on a generic office building, in all its beige-toned, boring glory, full of disgruntled employees. Enter a dressed-down Swift wearing very little makeup, slightly frizzy hair and a bland suit and skirt with office-worker-lady-standard sneakers.

Throughout her workday, Swift gets jostled around in the elevator, harassed at her desk and defeated by a typically defiant copy machine and passes the time reminiscing about what we assume to be a lost love (played by "Friday Night Lights" cutie Zach Gilford), whom we see in cute flashback videos she plays on her work computer (which features a blink-and-you-miss-it wallpaper picture of Swift's adorable new kitten, Meredith), then later via her iPad when she's on the bus. The videos show Swift and Gilford playing in the leaves, snuggling together, Gilford playing with Meredith the scene-stealing kitten, playful wrestling on the couch, etc.

As Swift's workday winds down, she seems to get more smiley and excited, particularly when she leaves for the day, and we soon find out why — her lost love was overseas serving in the military, and she meets him at the airport for an adorably sweet hello-again embrace. As we mentioned before, it's an "awww!" moment, which makes the video "awww"-dorable.

What do you think of Taylor Swift's latest video? Let us know in the comments below!

Nicki Minaj's 'Roman In Moscow' Is 'Bomb'

'It's a shut-the-game-down record,' StreetRunner tells Mixtape Daily about just-released Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded single.
By Rob Markman

Behind the Beats: StreetRunner and Sarom

Roman is back, and on her new track, Nicki Minaj's alter ego gets into all types of musical mischief. "Roman in Moscow" starts with a maniacal build of piano strikes into a full-on frenzy of thudding drums, spacey synths and crashing symbols.

It's a track befitting the fictional Roman Zolanski, who was once exiled into boarding school, but has since escaped. Credit veteran beatmakers StreetRunner and Sarom for crafting the first peek at the Best New Artist Grammy nominee's upcoming Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded album.

It took a couple of tries, but after about eight different versions of track, the production duo, who exist in a larger crew of boards-men called the Network, finally came up with something that perfectly suited Nicki's mood.

"Once we heard from Nicki's camp that they were really interested in the track, we had to go back in on it and tailor make it a little more for her," said StreetRunner, who was nominated for a Grammy this week for his work on Lil Wayne's Tha Carter IV. "It took a good eight tries to get it into pocket, but once we got it, we knew it."

The duo submitted the first version of the beat to Team Minaj in October, and by their estimation, it took about a month for them to tweak the instrumental and for Nicki to record her verses. The song was mixed earlier this week and released Friday (December 2) on iTunes.

Surprisingly, however, StreetRunner and Sarom didn't hear the final track until Friday's release. "Keeping music under wraps right now is very important if you want to avoid it getting leaked," said Street, who saw a number of tracks he thought he had placed on Weezy's Tha Carter III illegally released online, then ultimately left on the cutting-room floor.

Sarom also lost records that could've potentially made Wayne's 2008 gem, but for him, "Roman in Moscow" was well worth the wait. "Of course she's gonna go in on every single track, but she just came off on some other sh-- today," he told Mixtape Daily. "I can't even believe it."

The song definitely isn't a pop affair. Nicki as Roman leaves behind her cutesy "Super Bass" persona in exchange for something more sinister. She starts off her first verse, "I'm big Willie, no bike gear/ I told you bitches last year, I'm a rap bitch nightmare/ That's why I call you Buzz Lightyear/ 'Cause by the time you start buzzin' bitch, you gonna have white hair."

By the end of her two-verse lyrical triad, Nicki goes on a humorous rant. "Yeah ain't no motherf---in' prayers bitch, ain't no motherf---in' hook, ain't no motherf---in' third motherf---in' verse," her potty mouth spews. "Roman's back, bitch/ I f---ed up your life last year this time, remember that?"

Street, who started his career as a DJ, said, "That intro to the first few lines that she says, it's a shut-the-game-down record. Any DJ who's on radio and just wants to drop bombs, that intro is gonna happen, bomb."

As expected, Michael Jackson's former doctor Conrad Murray has filed an appeal to challenge his involuntary manslaughter conviction.

According to TMZ, Murray filed the petition in pro per, which means he has decided to forego hiring legal representation and represent himself. He reportedly listed "Men's Central Jail" and his booking number in the space on the appeal document where a lawyer would normally list a firm's name or contact information.

TMZ also reported that although Murray seems to be without a lawyer, he is still in communication with Nareg Gourjian, one of the attorneys who represented him during his manslaughter trial.

"This case presents a gold mine of issues for any appellate lawyer," Gourjian told TMZ. "Dr. Murray is confident that the Court of Appeal will vindicate him."

Following the guilty verdict, Murray's lead defense lawyer Ed Chernoff told CNN, "What matters most right now is trying to keep Dr. Murray from taking up a prison cell in this community. That's what we're focusing on right now, and we'll deal with an appeal after that."

Murray was sentenced to four years in jail Tuesday, but due to overcrowding, he's unlikely to serve his full term.

'It's the wackest thing on Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded,' Nicki tells MTV News of sassy new single.

NEW YORK — All the Barbies get ready, Roman is back! Nicki Minaj released "Roman in Moscow" on Friday (December 2), the first track off her sophomore album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded.

On the brand-new, hard-hitting single, Minaj's foul-mouthed alter ego Roman Zolanski spits out insults in his rapid-fire flow. It seems safe to say that Roman is fully recharged, and perhaps even taking shots at Nicki's rival Lil' Kim. "I told you, bitch, last year / I'm a rap-bitch nightmare / That's why I call you Buzz Lightyear," Roman says. " 'Cause by the time you start buzzin', bitch, you gonna have white hair!"

MTV News caught up with Minaj at the Billboard Women in Music event on Friday afternoon and she talked to us about the track.

" 'Roman in Moscow is like a teaser to Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, which will drop on Valentine's Day," Minaj said. "When I say it's a teaser, it's like a trailer to the movie, it's like setting the stage and I just wanted to touch the surface. It's the wackest thing on Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded."

On the song, Roman is fired up and wreaking havoc all over Moscow. "Well, he was there [in Moscow] secretly because [alter ego] Martha wanted him to go there, so they put him in this thing with monks and nuns; they were trying to rehabilitate him," Minaj explained. "But I can't tell exactly what happened, you'll just see it in the video format, but let's just say he got out of there." Minaj added that the video for "Roman in Moscow" "will be shot real soon."

The MC is also celebrating her four 2012 Grammy nominations, including one for Best New Artist.

Over the course of two weeks, nearly one million votes cast in MTV News' Britney Spears Tournament: 30 Videos for 30 Years, and on Friday (December 2) — which also happens to be the pop superstar's 30 birthday — we reached our final tally.

You, the fans, decided the crown for the Best Britney Video of All Time is goes to ... "I'm A Slave 4 U"!

Released in September 2001, the Francis Lawrence-directed video is still as influential a pop music clip 10 years later. Britney performed the song for the first time at the '01 MTV Video Music Awards, using a jungle-themed set filled with exotic animals, including a tiger and a now-iconic white boa constrictor snake, which she wrapped around her shoulders.

"Slave" defeated the Chris Marrs Piliero-directed runner-up "Criminal" by a wide margin, with nearly 69 percent of the vote. "Criminal," Britney's most recent video from this year's Femme Fatale release, made its way to the top two by beating out some of Britney's best-loved videos, from "Stronger" to "I Wanna Go" to (in a shocking defeat) her debut video "... Baby One More Time."

We want to know what you think of "Slave" winning it all in our 30 Videos for 30 Years tournament. Sound off in the comments section and send your birthday wishes to Britney!

Nicki Minaj A Not-So-New Best New Artist Nominee

Posted: 02 Dec 2011 12:41 AM PST

J. Cole, Skrillex and Bon Iver have also been around for years before rookie Grammy nods.
By Gil Kaufman

There are many reasons people love to bash the Grammys, but one of the most frequent punching bags is the Best New Artist category.

Whether it goes to someone music fans have never heard of (2010's Esperanza Spalding), an act who's been around forever (2001's Shelby Lynne), or one that even at his or her peak seemed unworthy at best (notorious 1981 flash-in-the-pan Christopher Cross), Best New Artist is a perennial head-scratcher.

By Recording Academy rules, the award is for a musician or band who releases an album during the year of eligibility that establishes their "public identity" as an artist. That doesn't mean it's their first album or that they suddenly appeared on the scene just that year, because, really, no act just materializes out of thin air and makes their way to the Grammys without years of unseen road, club and studio work.

But a look at this year's nominees is proof that in an age of mixtapes, YouTube, features and blog love such "new" acts as Bon Iver, Nicki Minaj, Skrillex and J. Cole are practically veterans by the time the Academy decides to shine its spotlight. In fact, of all this year's nominees, only country trio the Band Perry are truly "new," and they formed in 2005, then gigged around and dropped a few singles until their only full-length studio recording was released in late October of last year.

Think Beyoncé and Britney Got the Grammy Cold Shoulder? Sound Off!

The Recording Academy has been dancing as fast as it can over the past few years to get younger and hipper, putting such buzz acts as Drake, MGMT, Feist and the Ting Tings up for the award. But no amount of hustle can really help keep up with a music business that has radically changed the game when it comes to introducing new acts.

A year after another mixtape veteran, Drake, landed in the Best New Artist mix, Minaj and Cole are perhaps this year's best examples of everything old being new again.

Nicki released three mixtapes between 2007 and the time she signed with Young Money Entertainment in 2009. From that point on, she became the queen of features, showing up for guest verses on songs by Robin Thicke, Teairra Marie, Mariah Carey, Bobby Valentino, Usher, Mya, Ludacris, Jason DeRülo and many others prior to dropping her first album, Pink Friday, in November 2010.

On the same tip, Cole started posting his earliest rhymes online nearly a decade ago before being signed to Jay-Z's Roc Nation label. He, too, released a series of mixtapes, scored guest shots on songs by Jigga, Wale, B.o.B, Young Chris and Miguel, worked the road and seeded the Net with new music for more than three years before finally unleashing his major-label debut, Cole World: The Sideline Story, in May. Like Minaj, by the time his debut hit stores, Cole was practically a household name and had already been touted as one of the biggest young stars in the business.

Dubstep DJ Skrillex (a.k.a. former From First to Last guitarist Sonny Moore) spent several years on the road earlier in the 2000s playing emo-core before breaking off in 2007 to work on his own music. He transitioned from rock to producing and remixing as Skrillex, releasing his debut dance EP, My Name Is Skrillex, in June 2010. After getting signed to pal deadmau5's label, he put out the Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites EP in October 2010, followed by his major-label debut, More Monsters and Sprites, in June of this year on Big Beat/Atlantic.

All that time, he was remixing songs by everyone from Lady Gaga and Snoop Dogg to the All-American Rejects, Black Eyed Peas and Robyn, while relentlessly touring. In fact, over the course of the past year, his audiences have grown to thousands and sometimes tens of thousands, as he's become a Spin cover boy and one of the most sought-after EDM acts on the planet, lending credence to the idea that this truly was his breakthrough year.

Similarly, gentle Auto-Tune folkie Bon Iver (the stage name of Wisconsin's Justin Vernon) gigged around in little-known bands for years and released an acclaimed indie-label debut, For Emma, Forever Ago, in 2008 before the Academy noticed his self-titled second Bon Iver album, which came out in June.

It probably didn't hurt that he was also featured on leading Grammy nominee Kanye West's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy album on a number of tracks.

So are any of these nominees really "new"? Not really. Maybe to you, or the Academy, but for hard-core fans, the only thing new about them is that from now on they can add "Grammy-nominated" to their long list of accomplishments.

Who are you rooting for in the Best New Artist category? Let us know in the comments!

Happy birthday, Britney Spears!

The pop superstar celebrates her 30th b-day on Friday (December 2), and in addition to counting down her most iconic clips during the fan-voted Britney Spears Tournament: 30 Videos for 30 Years, MTV News also got some celebrity pals and Brit's most famous fans to wish the princess of pop a very happy birthday.

"Yo, Britney, happy birthday!" Cobra Starship frontman Gabe Saporta said. "You're still a babe at 30!"

Jason Derülo noted the singer's influence on pop culture. "Happy birthday, Britney!" he said. "Loved watching you growing up. You made a difference in music, and you made a difference in my life."

Wilmer Valderrama mirrored Derülo's comments about Spears' unwavering pop-star status. "If there's someone that influenced a generation in every aspect of the word, I'd say it's Britney Spears," he said. "Happy birthday, sweetheart!"

"Happy birthday, Britney!" Kris Allen said. "Happy 30th! That's awesome!"

Heidi Klum recalled one of Spears' most memorable opening lines: "Happy birthday! It's Britney, bitch, always!"

Britney's legacy includes hits like "Toxic," "I'm a Slave 4 U," " ... Baby One More Time" and "Till The World Ends" — to name just a few — and 13-year-old "Modern Family" star Ariel Winter has been there all along. "Happy birthday, Britney! I love your music. I've been a fan forever. You're amazing."

Nick Cannon joked, "Britney, you're 30, girl. I see. You get your grown woman on!"

"Jersey Shore" star Ronnie had this message: "What's up, Britney? God bless you. You're doing great. Happy 30th birthday!"

"Shore" co-star and sometimes Femme Fatale tourmate Pauly D had this Twitter message for Brit: "Happy Birthday To My Girl @britneyspears !!!" he wrote. "I Luv Birthdays !!!"

But the Twitter love didn't end there: Justin Bieber RSVP'd to the Britney birthday party with this tweet: "Happy birthday shoutout to my friend @britneyspears."

"Sendin b-day love to @britneyspears :) cheers to another great year!!!" Miley Cyrus tweeted. "Let's make @britneyspears day & show some love! Let's trend #HappyBdayBritney."

Ellen DeGeneres had a funny tweet for Spears on her birthday: "I can't believe Britney is turning thritney. I mean thirty. Happy birthday @BritneySpears!"

Kanye West Blames Himself For Album Of The Year Snub

'That's my fault for dropping Watch the Throne and Dark Fantasy the same year,' Yeezy tells fans about coveted Grammy nom.
By Rob Markman

Everyone knows that Kanye West takes his awards very seriously, but those who were expecting a Yeezy meltdown for his Grammy Album of the Year snub will be disappointed.

On Thursday during the Chicago stop of 'Ye and Hov's Watch the Throne Tour, the hometown MC, who is leading the 2012 nominees with seven Grammy nods, addressed the crowd.

"Something I figured out earlier today, because you know everybody came to me last night like, 'Congratulations,' because you know I'm leading — I have the most Grammy nominations once again, like we always do at this time," Kanye said, drawing thunderous applause from the United Center crowd.

"But, you know, people focus, they say, 'You ain't have Album of the Year or Record of the Year,' " he continued as the fan cheers quickly turned to disapproving boos.

Then the outspoken rap star did the unexpected. Instead of sending shots toward the Grammy committee, Kanye blamed himself: "I figured it out though. That's my fault for dropping Watch the Throne and Dark Fantasy the same year. I should've just spaced it out, just a little bit more."

In November 2010, 'Ye released his fifth studio album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy,. The platinum LP was both critically acclaimed and a commercial success thanks to surefire singles like the rambunctious "Power," the reflective sing-along "Runaway" and "All of the Lights," which is nominated for Song of the Year and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration.

Nine months after MBDTF, in August 2011, the Louis Vuitton Don hooked up with Jay-Z to release their tag-team album Watch the Throne. Both Yeezy LPs are nominated in the Best Rap Album category, but neither is in contention for the coveted Album of the Year Award. Instead Adele, the Foo Fighters, Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars and Rihanna will duke it out for the golden gramophone. Surprisingly Kanye West isn't sweating it, though. "Don't worry because me and Hov are gonna keep on making sh--," he said to the crowd.

Does this mean we can expect a Watch the Throne sequel? Guess we'll have to wait till next year to see.

What do you think of Kanye's reaction? Should he have spazzed? Tell us in the comments!

'Dark Knight Rises' Prologue Debate Gets 'Nerdy'

Posted: 02 Dec 2011 01:57 AM PST

In this week's 'Talk Nerdy to Me,' the team tackles the Batman prologue, the latest 'Ender's Game' casting and more.
By Josh Wigler

After a weeklong hiatus, "Talk Nerdy to Me" is back in action with all of your comic book, movie and TV needs. From today's official announcement of the "Dark Knight Rises" prologue to a special cameo from Daniel Day-Lewis' Abraham Lincoln beard, this week's "Talk Nerdy" has it all. Keep reading for a taste of what you'll see this week, and watch the episode in the video below!

"Dark Knight" Prologue Confirmed
Now that the news is official, the Talk Nerdy team is left wondering what Christopher Nolan's "Dark Knight Rises" prologue might entail. Are we in store for a "Batman Begins"-inspired montage? Might we see the death of a popular character from the Caped Crusader's supporting cast? We floated a few of our own theories, however ridiculous, in this week's episode.

"Ender's" Cast
The wheels are most certainly in motion for "Ender's Game," director Gavin Hood's big-screen adaptation of the beloved Orson Scott Card novel. "Hugo" star Asa Butterfield has been confirmed to play the titular Ender, and there are talks of "True Grit" actress Hailee Steinfeld and the legendary Harrison Ford joining the cast as well. Great actors, to be sure, but are they the right ones for the project? Find out what Nerdy's Brian Phares thinks about the upcoming project.

The "Game of Thrones" Blu's
When you play the "Game of Thrones," you win or you die. But when it comes to the HBO fantasy show's upcoming Blu-ray collection, it looks like we're all going to win. The Blu-ray was announced earlier this week, and the details are bound to have fans of the franchise foaming at the mouth. The Nerdy team geeked out over the upcoming collection, especially the announced "Creating the Dothraki Language" feature.

Spider-Leak, Spider-Leak
The weekend box office is dry in terms of new wide releases, so we recommend you just go ahead and see "The Muppets" again. It's that good! In lieu of our normal box-office report, this week's Talk Nerdy focused on the infamous "Amazing Spider-Man" Lizard leak from earlier in the week. Needless to say, the team was not impressed.

Tell us what you thought of this week's Talk Nerdy in the comments section!

You kind of can't go wrong when the soundtrack you've put together for one of the most eagerly anticipated literary adaptations in years kicks off Yeah Yeah Yeahs singer Karen O's take on Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song."

Fans heard the throbbing industrial take on the rock classic cooked up by former Nine Inch Nails mastermind and O when a trailer for the David Fincher-directed "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" leaked back in May. And on Thursday, Oscar-winning industrial-rocker-turned-film composer Reznor and musical partner Atticus Ross unveiled the full track list for their "Tattoo" score album.

The follow-up to their award-winning "The Social Network" score was a labor of love, according to a post Reznor put up on the NIN site on Thursday announcing the disc. "For the last fourteen months Atticus and I have been hard at work on David Fincher's 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo,' " he wrote about the American version of the tale of pierced and punished hacker Lisbeth Salander (Rooney Mara) and her muckraking journalist compatriot Mikael Blomkvist (Daniel Craig). "We laughed, we cried, we lost our minds and in the process made some of the most beautiful and disturbing music of our careers. The result is a sprawling three-hour opus."

The album will be released on iTunes on December 9 in two versions. Right now, you can download the Karen O song on iTunes when you pre-order the 39-track album. That download purchase will also give you a link to the eight-minute "Dragon Tattoo" trailer, for which Reznor and Ross created a unique score.

But, if you visit the NIN online store, Reznor is offering the soundtrack in a variety of forms, from a free six-track sampler to a deluxe 3,000-piece limited-edition signed $300 package with your choice of MP3 formats; the full album on six pieces of 180 gram vinyl; a deluxe book package with a metal cover; an exclusive custom 8 GB metal razor blade USB drive pendant containing the full album; and a fold-out poster.

The full album score track list is as follows:
» "Immigrant Song" (Led Zeppelin cover) [ft. Karen O]
» "She Reminds Me of You"
» "People Lie All the Time"
» "Pinned and Mounted"
» "Perihelion"
» "What If We Could?"
» "With the Flies"
» "Hidden in Snow"
» "A Thousand Details"

B.o.B Calls Strange Clouds 'Culmination' Of His Work

Posted: 02 Dec 2011 12:26 AM PST

'That's really why I'm so excited about it,' Bobby Ray tells MTV News of upcoming LP.
By Steven Roberts

B.o.B
Photo: MTV News

Early this week, B.o.B dropped his mixtape E.P.I.C (Every Play Is Crucial), seemingly out of nowhere. It featured verses from giants including Eminem, Yasiin Bey (a.k.a. Mos Def) and T.I. and underground all-stars like Future, 2 Chainz (a.k.a. Tity Boi) and Trae tha Truth.

But one thing it certainly features is B.o.B showing he can spit with anybody and everybody.

Bob was criticized for his 2010 breakthrough debut, B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray, because many felt it was a departure from the underground mixtapes that got him noticed in the first place. B.o.B has always shrugged off any criticism, but when MTV News caught up with him on Tuesday evening, he said that his latest mixtape and his follow-up album, Strange Clouds, show a "refined" B.o.B.

"Strange Clouds as well as the mixtape, I feel really like everything is refined — like the lyrics, the beats, the production, the hook, the vocal performance. I really put a lot of creative energy and time into developing the songs and the music. You know, after experiencing what it's like to put out an album, and tour it — I learned a lot from that and that helped a lot in this process of making this Strange Clouds album."

One thing he hoped to do on Strange Clouds was to inject the hip-hop elements of his mixtapes into the album. One track on E.P.I.C. that is a reflection of B.o.B's boom, bap, boom, boom, bap roots is aptly named "Boom Bap," featuring T.I. and Yasiin Bey.

B.o.B said he talked to T.I. about doing a straight lyrical showcase, no hook, like a cipher.

B.o.B didn't want to go too far left, either. He said he was well aware of his different fanbases and he hoped to marry them.

"There are people who are fans of the mixtape stuff, people who are fans of just, you know, me playing the guitar, rocking out, fans of me singing, rapping, and fans of 'Nothin' on You' and 'Airplanes' who just know The Adventures of Bobby Ray material," Bobby Ray said. "But this next album is like a culmination of everything combined and I feel like that's really why I'm so excited about it and eager to put it out because I'm just ready to get back on the court with it."

Young Jeezy On Gucci Mane Rift: 'It Was Nothing'

Posted: 01 Dec 2011 11:47 PM PST

Jeezy tells 'RapFix Live' the whole thing started because he couldn't perform with Gucc while recovering from throat surgery.
By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway

Photo: Natasha Chandel/ MTV News

It was all just a misunderstanding. After Young Jeezy appeared on Gucci Mane's 2005 track "Icy" but later refused to perform the record with Gucc, things between the two rappers got tense.

When the Snowman appeared on Wednesday's "RapFix Live," he revealed that what Gucci Mane didn't know was it was Jeezy's secret throat surgery that kept him from performing the record.

"When I met homey, he was just a guy hanging at the studio and he was fan. And I took to him and 'cause I just liked the way he got down, he was always cool, he was always excited," Jeezy said of how he and Gucci first met.

Jeezy — who was the hottest street rapper at the time — agreed to do "Icy" with Gucci Mane and even helped put the record together, he said. But soon after, he lost his voice, so when a request to perform the song came through to Jeezy's people, he declined without giving a reason. "Around that time is when I lost my voice," Jeezy revealed to Sway. "But nobody knew that I lost my voice but, like, maybe four of my homeboys. Def Jam didn't know, nobody knew.

"I think they got offended, but he didn't know that I lost my voice and just had surgery and was laying on a deathbed not knowing whether or not I would be able to speak again."

It is important to note that the two MCs have since called a truce. But before they made a peaceful resolution, Jeezy and Gucci traded subtle and sometimes not-so-subtle barbs on record. The drama even spilled onto the streets. "It just started then and turned into something else," Jeezy said. "I just felt like he was getting disrespectful about the situation because he wasn't being a businessman about it and understanding."

Jeezy, who is set to drop his fourth album, TM 103: Hustlerz Ambition, on December 20, told Sway that he believed the media made it out to be more than it was. "It's over now. But for what it's worth, it was nothing," he said.

In August, Gucci Mane had a similar stance when he sat with Sway on "RapFix Live." "On the strength of [the fact that] anything could have happened between not just me and him [but] between our camps, we just came to a sit-down of just respecting the fact that somebody can get hurt, and it ain't going to be us," Gucci said of the truce. "That's what made us do that."

Don't expect a future collaboration between the former foes, however. "I think we should just stay away from that totally," Jeezy said.

Are you glad Jeezy and Gucci settled things? Let us know in the comments.

Lady Gaga Describes 'Marry The Night' Breakdown As 'Honest Moment'

'It is my personal way of seeing things. I am the artist of my own life,' Gaga says of her self-directed video.

Lady Gaga exorcises her demons in her nearly 14-minute-long clip for "Marry the Night," which premiered Thursday night. Depicting Gaga's journey from an early career trauma to her reinvention as a successful pop star, she intended for art to imitate life in the clip.

For those wondering what left Gaga so traumatized, she explained it all to E! News preceding the video's premiere. The video is a metaphor for how she felt when she was dropped from her first record label, Island Def Jam, before landing at her current home at Interscope.

"It was one of the worst days of my life and it happened quite quickly. But in my mind, when I think back on that period of my life, it all happened very slow," she explained. "It is my personal way of seeing things. I am the artist of my own life. I choose to tell you what happened," she continued. "If you give up after something like that, you were never destined to be an entertainer."

In the video, after hearing from her ballet director that she should quit, she restructures her goal and plots her rise to pop stardom. "In order to be great writing music or at fishing or at being a mechanic or designing buildings, you have to acknowledge what is wrong with your work, or what is dishonest about it," she said. "What have I not been really great at?" Those obstacles, she says, are a big part of what makes her who she is now. "I love the obstacles," she said. "To marry your obstacles means I, the artist, wholeheartedly accept everything you throw at me. I am destined to struggle, I am destined to write music about the struggle and I accept it willingly."

There are several scenes where Gaga is naked and experiencing a mental breakdown in her apartment. "Well, I was naked in real life when it happened," she said, referring to the moment she found out she'd been dropped. "That's probably the most honest moment in that video of everything I've ever done. My directorial decision was for them to just f---ing roll the cameras, because I couldn't go in and out of the moment. I wonder if I will actually release that scene in its entirety — it's about 30 minutes long."

"It was intensely important to me that it was not too beautiful," she added. "It was an incredible experience. It was amazing. It was absolutely amazing."

This marks the first time that Gaga has directed a video all on her own. She recently split from her longtime creative director Laurieann Gibson, however, she clarified how the Haus works during the interview. "I have always been the creative director, and the Haus of Gaga has always been the creative force behind what we've done. There really aren't many tremendous changes.

"I know it's my directorial debut, but I've really created everything I've ever done in my career," she continued. "I really didn't do anything differently on this video that I didn't do on the 'Telephone' video or the 'Paparazzi' video or the 'Bad Romance' video. I hope my fans will take from this the progression that you have to trust yourself to make mistakes."

While the subject matter of the video is dark, there are also some tongue-in-cheek moments. "I always believe that you walk the line of humor if you're being so incredibly serious," she explained. "There's something quite comical about the opening of the video, even though it's quite sinister and dark," she said. "It's meant to be comical."

So, how would Gaga sum it all up? "In essence, it's insight into my entire creative process and the way that I view things," she said.

Adele And Nicki Minaj Are Odds-On Grammy Faves

London oddsmakers also like fellow Brits Mumford & Sons in the major categories.

The nominees for the 54th annual Grammy Awards were just announced Wednesday night, but that doesn't mean it's too early to start speculating about who's going to take home the hardware when the awards are handed out in February.

Think Beyoncé and Britney Got the Grammy Cold Shoulder? Sound Off!

That's why we've turned to the folks at Ladbrokes, the U.K.-based oddsmakers, to get a handle on this year's "Big Four" categories: Record, Song and Album of the Year, plus Best New Artist. And not surprisingly, considering both their location and the tremendous year she's had, they really like Adele's chances.

"Adele's taken America by storm, and she now looks set to clean up at the Grammys," Ladbrokes spokesperson Jessica Bridge said. "British punters will be rolling in it if she does the business."

And seriously, isn't that the most British sentence you've ever read in your entire life? It should be noted that Ladbrokes also like fellow Brits Mumford & Sons as a dark-horse candidate in several categories, in keeping with the whole Anglo angle. Things get interesting in the race for Best New Artist, though that may just be because no U.K. artists are nominated.

Now, on to their odds!

Record of the Year
» Adele, "Rolling in the Deep," 2/1
» Mumford & Sons, "The Cave," 9/4
» Bruno Mars, "Grenade," 4/1
» Katy Perry, "Firework," 5/1
» Bon Iver, "Holocene," 5/1

Song of the Year
» Adele, "Rolling in the Deep," 1/1
» Kanye West, Rihanna, Kid Cudi and Fergie, "All of the Lights," 2/1
» Mumford & Sons, "The Cave," 5/1
» Bruno Mars, "Grenade," 12/1
» Bon Iver, "Holocene," 14/1

Album of the Year
» Adele, 21, 11/8
» Bruno Mars, Doo Wops & Hooligans, 3/1
» Foo Fighters, Wasting Light, 3/1
» Lady Gaga, Born This Way, 6/1
» Rihanna, Loud, 10/1

Best New Artist
» Nicki Minaj, 6/4
» The Band Perry, 9/4
» Bon Iver, 4/1
» J. Cole, 5/1
» Skrillex, 20/1

'Girl With The Dragon Tattoo' Extra-Long Trailer Drops

New eight-minute clip for David Fincher's December 21 thriller pulls together complicated narrative.

Trailers can ruin an entire movie. Two-minutes clips stringing together a film's funniest moments or biggest thrills can suck the life out of a soon-to-be-released flick. Knowing that, it's hard to imagine a director cutting together eight whole minutes of his upcoming movie and yet managing to leave the audience feeling as if they haven't seen everything.

David Fincher has done that with the latest, extra-long trailer for his upcoming murder mystery "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo." The clip, which first premiered in front of select screenings of "Straw Dogs" back in September, is now available for everyone to watch through iTunes. The trailer follows closely to the four-minute trailer that hit the Net recently, but expands on almost every element contained in that trailer.

What the clip does is essentially puts all the pieces of the complicated narrative onto the board in a streamlined version, setting up both the story lines around Daniel Craig's Mikael Blomkvist and Rooney Mara's Lisbeth Salander, and how they come together. It stays with scenes from previous trailers for a longer amount of time, giving the audience a better feel for what to expect when the movie opens on December 21.

In addition to expanding upon the story elements and characters we've already seen, the trailer offers the first look at Joely Richardson's character, Anita Vanger. The preview also makes extensive use of the highly anticipated score from Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, who are reteaming with Fincher after their critically praised collaboration on the director's last film, "The Social Network."

Sleigh Bells To Return With Reign Of Terror

Brooklyn band unveils new album with a thoroughly badass teaser trailer.
By James Montgomery

When it comes time to reveal a thoroughly badass album title, there's really no other way to do it than with a thoroughly badass teaser trailer. And that's exactly what Brooklyn bashers Sleigh Bells just did, premiering an ominous, thundering clip for their new album ... which is called Reign of Terror.

The teaser opens with a scene of the Bells' Alexis Krauss sitting at a vanity mirror, very seriously combing her hair (while wearing a Marine Dress Uniform), then quickly switches to series of hectic, seizure-inducing live clips, interspersed with various shots of life-on-the-road ephemera (they apparently attended at least one LSU football game) and in-the-studio hijinks (Bud Light! Guns! A mirrored skeleton mask!) It's all backed by a churning, chunky guitar track, which seems to hint that Reign of Terror is most definitely going to be a loud — if not slightly terrifying — listen.

And while there's plenty of visceral gristle in the teaser trailer, it doesn't actually include a release date for the new album, the follow-up to Sleigh Bells' 2010 breakout Treats (one could reasonably assume it's due in 2012, however). The dynamic duo rode that disc hard, including a thunderous performance at the 2011 mtvU Woodie Awards, and a collaboration with none other than Beyoncé, one that was reportedly supposed to appear on her 4 album. That track (or tracks) never materialized. Instead, the Bells focused on writing and recording Terror.

And, judging by what we've now seen ... that was probably the right decision. Their Reign is set to commence next year.

Sound off on the Bells' Reign of Terror teaser trailer in the comments below!

'Dark Knight Rises' Prologue Confirmed By Warner Bros.

Six-minute sequence will run on select IMAX screens before 'Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol' showings.

Well, it took long enough. Warner Bros. has finally pulled back the curtain on the hotly anticipated six-minute opening sequence from "The Dark Knight Rises."

/Film originally broke the story in October, reporting that a short prologue would run on select IMAX screens before showings of "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol." For over a month, the studio had remained silent on the topic, and when the AMC theater chain released a statement confirming the report, the post was removed soon afterward.

When the MPAA handed down a PG-13 rating for the prologue alone, the event was all but confirmed.

Now, an official statement from Warner Bros. is reiterating most everything previously said about the preview. It will last six minutes and consist of the film's first sequence. The clip was shot on the IMAX 15 perf 65mm/70mm film that director Christopher Nolan used for several key action sequences during "The Dark Knight."

There has been much speculation about the content of the preview. This month's issue of Empire confirmed that the prologue would introduce Tom Hardy's Bane.

Unfortunately for some Batman fans, as previously stated, the "Dark Knight Rises" prologue will only play before "Ghost Protocol" on screens using true 70mm IMAX projection, so theaters with the more common digital projection will not get the preview. All told, only 42 screens in the U.S. and Canada will show it.

Here is a list of the theaters where you can catch the "Dark Knight Rises" prologue starting December 16:

Helena Bonham Carter Talks 'Dark Shadows' Character

Posted: 01 Dec 2011 10:05 PM PST

'She's an alcoholic psychiatrist, so I hadn't played that before,' actress tells MTV News.
By John Mitchell

We're still waiting for a teaser trailer for the hottest vampire movie that doesn't sparkle in the sun. Details about "Dark Shadows" have been scant, but one of the film's stars is finally talking about her role and what inspired director Tim Burton to take on the project.

At this week's BAFTA Britannia Awards, MTV News spoke to two-time Oscar nominee Helena Bonham Carter about "Shadows," her role in the film and what made her real-life love Burton want to director the vampire epic, which is set to hit theaters May 11, 2012. "I love 'Dark Shadows.' It's very original. It's uncategorizable," Bonham Carter said. "It's going to be impossible to sell, frankly, because it's just so ... it's a soap opera but it's very, very subtle.

It's a ghost story but then it's an unhappy vampire story. It's a mixture of so many different things and a real ensemble piece. And hopefully it will be funny."

Bonham Carter plays Dr. Julia Hoffman. In the late-'60s television soap opera on which the movie is based, Hoffman specialized in psychology and rare blood disorders and eventually tried to cure Barnabas Collins (played in the film by Burton regular Johnny Depp) of his vampirism by injecting him with a vaccine made of healthy plasma to counteract the destruction of his own blood cells by the vampire cells. (Got that?) Whether that's part of the film's plot remains to be seen, but Bonham Carter did have a colorful response for MTV News when asked about playing Hoffman.

"I did love playing her. I mean, she's an alcoholic psychiatrist, so I hadn't played that before," she said. "And she's got a secret. They all have secrets."

She also explained that "Shadows" has long been something of a passion project for Burton, with whom she has two children, because the quirky director was a huge fan of the TV show as a child. "This was a thing that he raced home to see when he was about age 10," she told MTV. "So it was returning to his childhood roots of what he loved watching."

The always outrageous actress was also pretty frank about her own feelings about the campy soap, saying, "It's actually a really bad, hilariously bad soap opera. And because it's so bad, [Burton] felt he had to make a hugely expensive movie."

Are you excited to see Helena Bonham Carter bring new life to quirky psychologist Julia Hoffman in the big-screen adaptation of "Dark Shadows"? Sound off in the comments below and tweet me at @JohnMitchell83 with your thoughts and suggestions for future columns!

Kanye Talks 'Pursuit Of Awesomeness' In Backstage Video

'I wasn't given this power for no reason,' rapper says in behind-the-scenes video filmed on Watch the Throne Tour.

No one knew what to expect back in October when online entertainment company VoyR announced that it would be partnering with Jay-Z and Kanye West's Watch the Throne Tour to give "access to exclusive, inspirational and shareable stories" with live webcasts. Would fans get sneak peeks backstage?

Would part of the concert be streamed in real time? How much of Jay and 'Ye would we actually see? There were quite a few questions.

Now, almost two months later, VoyR drops its first behind-the-scenes video. Kanye narrates the clip, which was recorded at one of the Throne's November shows at Madison Square Garden in New York. "I always joked that I was like — OK, I'm doing music, but there is a bigger plan for me at a certain point. I wasn't given this power for no reason and now it's starting to open up," 'Ye says at the start.

Yeezy continues to wax poetic about his mission in life, concluding that his goal is to inspire future world leaders who will go on to pay homage at the rapper's funeral when he dies. All the while, West's voice-over is coupled with concert footage of him emerging onto the MSG stage atop a four-sided video cube. "I'm on a pursuit of awesomeness," West continues. "Excellence is the bare minimum."

VoyR charges a fee that grants fans access to a number of different episodes, but in this first video we see the Chi-Town MC backstage getting dressed for the night's show. While wearing a black shirt, with the same Givenchy designs that appear in the Watch the Throne album insert, Kanye straps a chunky gold bracelet to his wrist, adjusts his in-ear monitor and laces up his Air Yeezy sneakers as he gets ready to hit the stage.

The video mostly focuses on the "All of the Lights" MC, and we hardly see Jay at all. Instead we see Kanye marching through the concert halls, greeting visitors like famed Roc-A-Fella engineer Young Guru and Wu-Tang Clansman Raekwon. Hov does show up in one scene, marveling over one young fan's haircut. The preteen, who made his way backstage, has a WTT logo shaved into his head. He is all smiles as Jay talks to him with Kanye, Bronx, New York, rapper French Montana and Hot 97's Angie Martinez looking on. "Oh, you outta here, told you," Jay says, laughing.

Kanye continues to narrate, talking about his legacy. "I wanna know when I'm gone that they'll be 10 people that will go up and grab that mic," he said about the impression he hopes to leave. "I wanna know that there are warriors now."

Yeah, buddy! Pauly D is officially a member of 50 Cent's G-Unit team. The "Jersey Shore" star and DJ has just been signed to the rapper's G-Note record label, 50 confirmed on Twitter, adding a photo of the pair together.

Pauly also took to the site to spread the word about the deal. "Big Big Things In The Works @50cent And @DJPaulyD !!!!!" he wrote. "#yeahhhhbuddy" (A rep for G-Unit also confirmed the signing to MTV News.)

Talk of a Pauly D/ 50 Cent collaboration has been floating around since the summer when the MTV reality star teased a joint album to Billboard.

"I'm focusing on music. That's my passion," Pauly said. "I'm working with 50 Cent now. I'm gonna do an album with him. It's going to be a little bit of everything. It's almost like DJ Khaled and kind of David Guetta but my own DJ Pauly D style."

The "Shore" star also hinted at the G-Unit deal in an earlier interview with XXL, saying that the ink on the rumored three-album deal would officially be dry by year's end. "50 Cent has also been somebody I look up to. We ended up linking up and we just clicked," he said. "We hit it off immediately with the music and everything like that. So I'm definitely gonna be working with him. There's been talks about the album and the headphones. I'm looking forward to working with that as well."

The latest news comes as Pauly continues to expand his brand, including a residency at Las Vegas nightclub Rain at the Palms Resort and Casino. He opened for Britney Spears on her Femme Fatale Tour and is reportedly set to join her again at her December 10 show, the final stop on her world tour.

What do you think of Pauly D teaming up with 50 Cent? Tell us in the comments!
