MTV News counts down the stories that mattered to you most, from Lady Gaga's call to action to Amy Winehouse's untimely death.

Like you, we're pop-culture obsessives.

That's why from stars revealing baby bumps on live TV to the end (or near-end) of two of the most monumental movie franchises in recent memory and the deaths of a pair of the aughts' quirkiest, most singular personalities, MTV News brought you everything you needed to know about the bold-faced names that mattered to you most in 2011.

We looked back at the many big stories of the year and came up with a list of our Top 10 Newsmakers of 2011:

10. Amy Winehouse's Death
At age 27, British soul belter Amy Winehouse was found dead in her London apartment on July 23. The "Rehab" singer had lived a life on the edge, with multiple arrests and stints in detox, and while we were pulling for her, the news of her death from alcohol intoxication was a gut punch. As MTV readers flooded us with remembrances of her sultry voice and no-B.S. persona, everyone from Katy Perry and Rihanna to Nicki Minaj shared their love, fellow musicians paid tribute at the VMAs and I recalled the first time I saw her perform in the U.S. and how the pain in her songs set the stage for such confessional singers as her friend Adele.

9. Beyoncé's Pregnancy Reveal
One of the beauties of working here is that even we don't always know what's going to happen on our own shows. That's why we all had to pick our jaws up off the floor when we saw Beyoncé pat her belly on the red carpet at the VMAs. We had already chronicled her smash comeback from a brief hiatus with 4 and breathlessly awaited her return to the VMAs, but when she hit that stage and confirmed the news? After years of bugging her to talk about if she wanted to be a mom someday, we had to remind ourselves to do our jobs while shaking our heads at the éber-diva way she revealed her big news.

8. Harry Potter Hangs Up His Wand
When the onscreen "Harry Potter" saga came to a close with "Deathly Hallows, Part 2," we said goodbye to the fictional family that had come to define many a childhood over the past decade-plus. We wept alongside you as we bid farewell to Harry, Hermione, Ron and the gang, all the while dissecting every frame of the most successful movie franchise in history and tapping into the conflicted feelings the cast had about ending this amazing chapter in their professional and personal lives. But hey, we also gave you the "Harry Potter" World Cup, so that was something, right?

7. "Jackass" Star Ryan Dunn's Death
No story hit as close to home in 2011 as the high-speed-crash death of "Jackass" star Ryan Dunn. Part of the MTV family, Dunn's energy and wild-boy nature lit up the screen as he doubled us over taking on insane stunts none of his pals were willing to tackle. Your notes of condolence and sadness flooded in, and like most of us, though you didn't know him personally, you felt like you'd lost a friend.

6. Nicki Minaj's Breakthrough Year
You love Nicki Minaj for the same reason we do: There's no way to know which Nicki you're going to get next. The baddest female rapper in the business changes her look and vocal style almost as often as her eye-popping outfits. She's often the best thing on the songs she's featured on, she blew minds with her #1 album, Pink Friday, and was handpicked by Britney Spears as the opening act on the Femme Fatale Tour. We weren't the only ones who noticed her high-energy Technicolor wonder either, as she wrapped up the year with a Best New Artist Grammy nod and a cameo session for Madonna's next album.

5. Justin Bieber's Wild Ride
It should come as no surprise that Justin Bieber is #5 on our list. Bieber blanketed the planet in 2011, drawing props from such unlikely peers as Tyler, the Creator, Jimmy Fallon and Drake while tirelessly promoting his music, books, movies and Bieber brand. The 17-year-old went through all the stations of the pop-idol cross this year: sold-out concerts and #1 albums, a public affair with a fellow pop star (Selena Gomez), mall stampedes, movie plans, paparazzi drama, the obligatory doll and Christmas album, TV cameos, a paternity suit and way, way too much talk about his hair. The more we dug in, the more you wanted to know and the more red-hot the hype machine got for the YouTube-bred sensation.

4. Britney Spears Turns 30
One of MTV's most iconic video stars, Britney Spears, recaptured our imagination by basically acting like a silent screen diva. Yes, Britney toured the world in support of the electro-fied Femme Fatale and gave her fans plenty of video goodness to chew on. But after several years of personal struggles and a life lived in the too-intense spotlight, Spears made us love her even more this year by not sharing all the details of her offstage life. You scratched for every bit of information about her next single, her stage show and her kids and listened intently as other stars opened up about their love of the pop princess. As if to prove how much she means to us, when we asked you to name her top 30 videos in honor of Brit's 30th birthday, you inundated us with choices and then argued amongst yourselves (and with us) about the results.

3. Lil Wayne's Post-Prison Takeover
Lil Wayne had a lot of catching up to do this year after spending most of 2010 behind bars. He did his best to make up for lost time, touring like a maniac, finally releasing the long-anticipated Tha Carter IV, hooking up with everyone from DJ Khaled and Enrique Iglesias to B.o.B and Drake, all while dropping mixtapes, playing "Unplugged" and prepping a pair of sequels to his recent Rebirth and I Am Not a Human Being albums.

2. "Breaking Dawn, Part 1" Arrives
The second-to-last episode in the vamps-and-werewolves series was picked apart like a Thanksgiving turkey, with our experts delving into every scene in the trailer, every morsel of pre-release information on the now-famous wedding and birth scenes, the box-office records it smashed and each note of the soundtrack. Even with bloodsuckers, faeries, shape-shifters and zombies crawling out of every nook and cranny in Hollywood, the tale of Edward and Bella endured.

1. Lady Gaga Starts a Movement
And wouldn't you know it? At the very top of the list is the woman whose meteoric rise to pop superstardom has packed a career's worth of highlights and creative peaks into just a few years. If it felt like Lady Gaga was everywhere you looked over the past 12 months, that's probably because she kind of was. She visited the White House to talk anti-bullying, continued to push the boundaries of fashion and rose to the top of the social-media heap as her Little Monsters made her the most-followed woman on the Net. The year began with the release of the all-inclusive title track from her smash Born this Way album, included some of the most outrageous red-carpet arrivals and TV appearances in history and the release of a string of high-concept videos. Together, we hung on her every move, from the release of lyrical snippets, to cover art and the slow leak of details about her personal life. We can't take our eyes off her because she won't let us, and in the process, she's remaking the very idea of stardom and its limits.

It's a 'good step' toward happiness in her life, Jordan Miller of Britney fan site Breatheheavy.com says.

Britney Spears is "still glowing" after longtime boyfriend Jason Trawick popped the question to the pop star on Friday. The two spent the weekend in Las Vegas, where Spears flashed her Neil Lane engagement ring, as they celebrated their upcoming nuptials as well as Trawick's 40th birthday.

Friends and family have been showing their support and well-wishes for the couple's upcoming wedding, including Spears' ex-husband Kevin Federline, who told TV Week magazine that he was "really happy for her." Yet it seems that no one is as happy for Spears than her die-hard fans.

MTV News spoke with Las Vegas-based webmaster Jordan Miller, who runs Spears' biggest fan site, BreatheHeavy.com, and he told us just how thrilled he is about the news.

"I was pretty excited for Britney when I found out she was engaged," Miller said. "I think it's a good step for her to have some sort of relationship where she can share her feelings and thoughts about her life, so I'm happy for her I think it's really good for her."

And it seems all of his followers agree. "The overwhelming reaction from fans about the news of Britney's engagement is that they're really happy for her," Miller said. "They think it's such good timing for her, to finish the tour and kind of have a break and be able to start a new chapter in her life. So I think the majority of fans are really happy for Britney and that it's definitely a good step for her."

The news doesn't come as a big shock to Miller, since rumors of Britney's engagement have been swirling for months.

"I wasn't surprised about the news of Britney being engaged. There were rumors for the last six months pretty much saying he was going to do it in December," Miller said of the couple, who have been dating since 2009. "So it's cool to see that it actually happened and she's going to get married."

Details have not been released as to when Britney will tie the knot, but it seems Miller already has the perfect wedding gift in mind from all of her fans.

"If fans could get Britney a cool present, it would be a vacation to a tropical island where she didn't have to be around anyone but Jason," Miller said.

What do you think of Britney's engagement? Let us know in the comments.

Representing: Atlanta by way of Queens, New York
Mixtape: Krown the King
Real Spit: Everybody wants to be king, and on his Krown the King mixtape, Wooh Da Kid attempts to sow his royal oats. "I've been working ... Krown the King, I mean everybody feel like they the best, so I definitely feel like I'm the best, the king of it all," Wooh told Mixtape Daily.

Breaking out from Waka Flocka's Brick Squad Monopoly crew, Wooh sets his mark on the Southside-produced "King of Da Jungle." Over the rowdy track, the Atlanta/Queens representer plants his flag, making a number of king-like and murderous proclamations.

On "My Benz," Wooh enlists Waka Flocka to ride over the electric Lex Luger-produced beat, and on "Problem," he links with Gucci Mane. Recently deceased Brick Squad member Slim Dunkin also appears on "All I Ever Wanted" and "Put Your Hands Up." While various members of Wooh's BSM crew appear throughout the tape, he does manage to hold things down for himself on the catchy "I Prefer," "Church" and the bouncy "Bad News."

In the end, Wooh believes he has done more than enough to state his case. "Krown the King, I think I deserve it, man," he said. "We been going hard for a couple of years now. It's finally starting to pay off, so crown the king, man."

Joints to Check For
» "Feeling Good" - "My gut's big, that just mean I'm getting money, I'm feeling good. This my life right now. I ain't got no six-pack, I got a one-pack. You got the ladies always rubbing your stomach; the whole Brick Squad got this. I just telling them I'm eating good, I'm doing good. That's what that's about."

Amy Winehouse Tribute Steals Show At 'VH1 Divas'

NEW YORKGlittering clothes, big voices and sassy songs about love, loss and everything in between ruled the night during "VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul." The concert was filled with booty-shaking, sing-along performances from Kelly Clarkson, Mary J. Blige, Florence and the Machine, Jennifer Hudson, Jill Scott, Jessie J and others, who rocked the Hammerstein Ballroom for the show, which aired Monday night (December 19) on VH1.

With an assist from the night's house band the Roots, it all kicked off with Hudson, Clarkson and Blige channeling the Supremes for "You Keep Me Hangin' On," before launching into a medley of their own tracks, "Spotlight," "Real Love" and "Since U Been Gone."

The performance set the tone for the night, which not only paid homage to the women in the room, both legendary and up-and-coming, but also the cities that birthed some of the most soulful songs in music history, including Chicago, London, Detroit, Philadelphia and Memphis, Tennessee.

Through the night, divas from all walks of life, including Erykah Badu, Estelle, Mavis Staples, Chaka Khan, Martha Reeves, Marsha Ambrosius and Ledisi, as well as a few divos (Boyz II Men and Travie McCoy), sang some of the biggest hits from soul music's lush history. The set list included a sampling of tracks like "Nowhere to Run" by Martha and the Vandellas, "Walking on Broken Glass" by Annie Lennox, "I'll Take You There" by the Staple Singers and "Ain't Nobody" by Khan herself.

When the cities themselves weren't being honored, the divas were, with solo performances that demonstrated the ladies' killer vocal prowess. Florence Welch, Clarkson, Sharon Jones, Jessie J, Scott, Hudson and Blige each took the stage to give some shine to their own tracks and pop styles, proving that soul music is a genre that is still alive and well.

The Amy Winehouse tribute was the culmination of the night. Although "VH1 Divas" was all about the living performers who belted out songs at the concert, the presence of one diva gone too soon was certainly felt. Instead of focusing on the loss suffered when the British songstress died over the summer, the show focused on a celebration of her music.

"What's up New York?" the tribute's MC, Nas, asked the room. "When the legendary Amy Winehouse sang about me in her song 'Me and Mr. Jones,' I was so honored. Amy Winehouse was my true soul sister." The two worked together on her Lioness: Hidden Treasures track, "Like Smoke." "I'm here to honor a woman who had enough soul to last a lifetime," he added.

The presence of his "home girl" was felt in the room thanks to her game-changing music as reimagined by Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings (the latter of whom worked with her on her Back to Black album), Florence Welch and Wanda Jackson. The medley included her soul-killing breakup track "Back to Black" and her sassy anthem "You Know I'm No Good."

Ke$ha Calls Bob Dylan Cover 'An Emotional Purging'

Pop singer sings 'Don't Think Twice, It's All Right' for Amnesty International anniversary album.

It's hard to associate Ke$ha with songs about anything other than hot guys, body glitter and partying. But she's defying her usual topics of interest for human rights organization Amnesty International. The singer is one of the many musicians on the org's Chimes of Freedom compilation of Bob Dylan's music, out January 24.

When MTV News spoke with K-Dollar Sign last week about her all-star remix of "Sleazy," she also opened up about switching gears vocally and emotionally for her version of Dylan's classic "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right."

"I mean, I think it's pretty well known that he's one of, if not my most, favorite artists of all time and ... one of the most amazing lyricists as well — the original storyteller," she explained. "So I love Bob Dylan and this was just, like, a dream. When they asked me to do a cover, I was just, like, salivating and going through all my records. It was so fun. It was the best homework assignment you could possibly have."

K's version of Dylan's song is a slow-burning, heartbreaking ode to the already heartbreaking classic, where she channels Dylan through lyrics like "Still I wish there was somethin' you would do or say/ To try and make me change my mind and stay/ We never did too much talkin' anyway/ So don't think twice, it's all right."

Ke$ha had originally intended to record another Dylan track, but when she heard that someone else had their sights set on it, she settled on "Don't Think Twice," prompting a catharsis she could never have imagined.

"This song was kind of an accident. I sat down and this is the first take that I ever sang," she recalled. "I just sat down on my bed for the first time after months of being on tour and I just started crying, and it was kind of like an emotional purging, and you can hear it on the record."

In addition to Ke$ha and her contribution, the album will feature 75 other Dylan classics recorded by nearly 80 artists including Adele, Miley Cyrus, "Glee" star Darren Criss, My Chemical Romance, Evan Rachel Wood and Sugarland. The album pays tribute to the 50th anniversary of Amnesty International.

'Wrath Of The Titans' Trailer: Five Key Elements

Posted: 19 Dec 2011 04:12 AM PST

From Liam Neeson's authoritative voice to Ralph Fiennes' villain, we glimpse what's in store for the 'Clash of the Titans' sequel.
By Kara Warner

The last time we caught up with Perseus (Sam Worthington), Zeus (Liam Neeson), Hades (Ralph Fiennes) and Co. in 2010's "Clash of the Titans," the gods were playing around with human lives, the Kraken was released and destroyed, and Perseus was asked to join the ranks on Mount Olympus. And although we've long known about the film's sequel "Wrath of the Titans," we haven't had a clear look at what we'll be getting into when it opens next March, until now.

The "Wrath of the Titans" trailer is here and it is an action-packed extravaganza of sword slinging, monster-fighting excellence. Here are the five key elements we took away from the two-minute clip:

When Liam Neeson Speaks, People Listen
Oscar winner Liam Neeson is a perfect leader of things in film. He just has a natural gravitas and stature to make it work every time. Neeson as Zeus is a perfect example, and in the "Wrath" trailer, he uses that captivating narrator voice of his to tell the audience everything we need to know about the plot: "We Gods are losing our power. We believed the Titans to be imprisoned forever, now they're breaking free." His voice carries over shots of various Titans landing in various places and starting to wreak havoc. "It would mean chaos," he says with feeling. "The end of the world."

Perseus vs. Everyone
So how do we prevent the end of this world? With Perseus, of course, the demi-god descendent of Zeus himself, who saved the day in the first movie and will likely be doing the same in the second. Perseus is basically fighting various elements, monsters, gods and humans throughout the trailer, so when Zeus tells his son, "You will learn someday that being half human makes you stronger than a god," we have to believe him because how else could he survive such beatings?

Awesome CG Everything
While fans of the 1981 original "Clash of the Titans" may remember the film most fondly for its camp factor and Claymation effects, there is no room for those in the reboots. Judging by the sleek and sophisticated design we see here in the trailer, i.e., the sonic boom blast following a god's descent to earth, Hades in the Underworld, Cyclops, scary winged beasts, etc., "Wrath of the Titans" will be a feast for the eyes and fans of highly stylized CG.

Andromeda Gets In On the Action?
Everyone loves a beautiful femme fatale, one of Greek mythology's favorite through lines, but we can all agree that it's more fun when a female lead gets in on the action. Rosamund Pike has taken over the role of Andromeda in "Wrath," and from the looks of things, wielding a sword, for instance, she might have more to do in this one than getting helplessly tied to a rock.

Ralph Fiennes Should Only Play Villains
How much do we love Ralph Fiennes as a villain? See his Oscar-nominated performance in "Schindler's List" and his brilliance as He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named in the "Harry Potter" franchise. Fiennes makes his villains look as terrible as they are fun to play. His one line in this trailer is delivered with the perfect combination of calm, confidence and cool we've come to know and love: "You're sweating like a human. Next, it will be tears."

Check out everything we've got on "Wrath of the Titans."

MTV's 'Punk'd' To Return In 2012

Posted: 19 Dec 2011 02:45 AM PST

Tune in to MTV's 'NYE in NYC' special on December 31 at 11p.m. ET for an exclusive clip from the new prank series!
By Kara Warner

In the spirit of that familiar adage, everything old is new again, MTV is bringing back its favorite hidden-camera prank show, "Punk'd," along with its mastermind/ executive producer Ashton Kutcher ... and a new batch of soon-to-be embarrassed celebrities.

Viewers will be treated to an exclusive first look at a clip from an all-new season of the series — which will return to the network in 2012 — during MTV's annual New Year's Eve party, set to air Saturday, December 31, at 11 p.m. ET, live from MTV's Times Square studio. "NYE in NYC 2012" will be hosted by Demi Lovato and Tyler Posey of MTV's hit series "Teen Wolf." Performers include Selena Gomez, J. Cole, Jason Derulo and Mac Miller as well as Lovato.

"Punk'd" aired on MTV from 2003 to 2007 and featured A-list stars (Beyoncé, Britney Spears, Zac Efron, Lindsay Lohan, Jessica Alba to name a few) getting pranked by Kutcher, Dax Shepard and crew. One of the most famous episodes was the premiere, in which Shepard and Kutcher's target was Justin Timberlake. They convinced JT that he owed thousands of dollars in back taxes before claiming a bunch of his prized possessions as payment. That moment lives on as Time magazine's #3 most Epic Moment in Reality TV History.

Rumors have been swirling about new hosts and new celebrity victims, which will all be put to rest when MTV presents the first look at footage of the new season on "NYE in NYC 2012" at 11 p.m. ET on New Year's Eve.

Britney Spears' Engagement Ring: How Does It Stack Up?

After Britney Spears confirmed her engagement to longtime beau Jason Trawick last Friday, fans wanted to know everything about the ring, a four-carat diamond designed by Neil Lane.

Trawick — Brit's former agent — popped the question after working with famed jeweler Lane on the design, according to People.com. The site also reported that Trawick wanted a crown-like band. In addition to the mega-sparkler at the center of the tiara-style setting, the hubby-to-be also had 90 small round diamonds added around the band. Spears debuted the ring during a trip to Las Vegas over the weekend to celebrate her fiancé's birthday.

"Jason is a romantic and when I asked him to tell me about Britney and what the ring would represent to them so I could find inspiration, his response was always the same — she is his princess!" Lane told the website. "Jason didn't want an over-the-top ring with a giant stone."

Minya Oh, the author of "Bling Bling: Hip Hop's Crown Jewels," told MTV News she was pleasantly surprised by how understated the rock is. "The ring is so damn classy! It's [four] carats, which by Hollywood standards these days is practically microscopic," Oh said. "The setting is a tiny crown but both that and the thin diamond-studded band are done so delicately, from afar the focus is still on that bright white center stone. Nothing about the ring overwhelms her hand, and nothing screams, 'Please believe my relationship is real!' " She added, "This is the kind of ring a pop icon has when they're ready for something that means more than just the ring."

This is hardly Spears' first engagement ring, however. When her ex Kevin Federline popped the question back in 2004, the former back-up dancer gave the pop princess a five-carat diamond ring.

All this talk about rocks got us thinking about some other celebrity proposals, so we decided to spotlight a few memorable engagement rings.

Kim Kardashian & Kris Humphries
When it comes to size, Spears' ring from Trawick is small compared to Kim Kardashian's monster-size rock. When Kris Humphries popped the question earlier this year, he gave her a 20.5-carat Lorraine Schwartz diamond. Of course, the size of the ring didn't guarantee lasting marital bliss: the couple split after 72 days of marriage.

Beyoncé & Jay-Z
Like Humpdash, Jay-Z, who is expecting his first child with wife Beyoncé, also went the Lorraine Schwartz route. He gave his pop-star lady love an 18-carat ring back in 2007. The couple kept their wedding ceremony under wraps.

Kristin Cavallari & Jay Cutler
While it has been a bumpy engagement for former "Hills" star Kristin Cavallari and her football player fiancé Jay Cutler, the couple announced they were engaged again last month. Cutler opted to use the same 5.2-carat ring he'd given the MTV reality star back in April when he first decided to put a ring on it.

Hilary Duff & Mike Comrie
Before Mike Comrie asked mama-to-be Hilary Duff to be his blushing bride last year, he reportedly spent $1 million for the sparkler, said to be about 12 to 13 carats.

Katy Perry & Russell Brand
Russell Brand also gifted Katy Perry with a ring of about 12 to 13 carats when he proposed last year to MTV's 2011 Artist of the Year. The comedian asked the pop star to marry him while the two were in India. The couple would later re-create that magic when they also married in the country in October 2010.

Share your well-wishes for Britney and Jason in the comments!

Drake and Rick Ross have a lot on their plates these days. But in between promoting Take Care and Rozay putting the finishing touches on his upcoming album, Drizzy hopes that the two MCs can finish up their collaborative mixtape Y.O.L.O. (You Only Live Once).

"Yeah, it only makes sense, so hopefully. I'm actually going to Miami to see him this week, sit down and work on God Forgives and just work on whatever comes," Drake told MTV News of the tag-team tape while backstage Power 106's Cali Christmas Concert on Friday night. "Me and him usually do a few songs, so we'll see where they end up."

The two rap stars have paired on a number of fan favorites, like DJ Khaled's "I'm On One," Rozay's "Aston Martin Music" and most recently "Lord Knows" from Take Care. For Drake it's all about their comfort while recording together. "If I have chemistry with anyone in the studio it's Ross. We want to make the same music. It's definitely a very good experience," he said.

In a November interview on "RapFix Live," the Maybach Music head assured that Y.O.L.O. was definitely coming. At the time, he was flirting with the idea of the project becoming an official retail release.

"You know, Drake, I consider him a part of the fam. It's not just music," Ross said. "We stay in the studio, we stay on Skype."

Last week, Ross took to Twitter to announce his plans for a new solo mixtape as well. "It's Official Drop'n New Mixtape!!! #RozayNewTape," he wrote.

'Dark Knight Rises' Trailer: Five Key Scenes

New trailer hints that all is not well in Gotham City eight years after 'The Dark Knight.'
By Kevin P. Sullivan

Photo: Warner Bros.

Some lucky Batman fans got a chance to check out the brand-new trailer for "The Dark Knight Rises" over the weekend, and now Apple has the first theatrical trailer for the entire world to see.

The new preview gives us our best look yet at Gotham City eight years after the end of "The Dark Knight," and things aren't going very well. Gordon's tenure as commissioner may be coming to an end. Selina Kyle warns Bruce of a storm on the horizon, and Bane shows a complete disregard for football field maintenance.

Here are the five key scenes from the brand-new "Dark Knight Rises" trailer.

Old Man Wayne
While you may have watched the bootleg of the trailer a dozen times online over the weekend, a lot of the trailer's details didn't translate from the pirated copy. The most intriguing detail has to be the reflection in the dish cover. It clearly shows Bruce Wayne walking toward it with a cane. Spy footage from the set hinted that an injured Wayne would have a cane, but this is the first concrete proof. Is this Bane's work, and how badly is Wayne hurt? This could be the end of Batman that's hinted at in the trailer.

Where in the World Is Bruce Wayne?
The scene from the trailer that remains largely a mystery is the one where Wayne enters the hall of staircases and asks what the chanting means. We haven't seen anything like this setting in the series yet, but Wayne's clothes resemble the clothes he wears in the early scenes of "Batman Begins," during his stint in the League of Shadows. We've all heard that the final film in Christopher Nolan's trilogy will double-back and cover some territory from the first film. Is this our first look at the return of the League of Shadows?

Are You Ready for Some Foootbaaa ... OH SH--!
Clearly the scene everyone will be talking about, in the football stadium, Nolan tries his hand at making a disaster movie. Nothing in the series so far compares to the earthquake in the stadium in terms of destruction. Bane succeeds where other villains haven't, and this more or less confirms the presence of the much-discussed earthquake machine. While many had their doubts, no one can deny that Nolan handles an otherwise outlandish concept with a deft and cool hand. Now imagine that in IMAX!

Oh Hey, It's Tali, I Mean, Miranda Tate
There she is, the most mysterious of the new characters, Miranda Tate. When Marion Cotillard signed on to re-team with Nolan, people cried foul. The press release may have said Miranda Tate, dutiful Wayne Enterprises employee, but hard-core fans smelled a red herring. This is the first time we're actually seeing Cotillard, but the trailer doesn't offer much. Who is Miranda Tate? It's clear we'll have to wait to find out.

Na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-BAT-WING
Photos from the set gave us glimpses at Batman's new aerial ride, the Batwing, but seeing it in action is a whole other monster. I can't even begin to wrap my head around what that scene is going to be like. We know that several tumblers are involved. Bane is there, and at some point, Batman unleashes the Batwing on everyone. Jay-Z 'Bothered' By Plight Of Undereducated Youth

Posted: 19 Dec 2011 12:08 AM PST

'They can't further their education because of their situation, because of money,' Hov tells MTV News.
By Rob Markman

It is Jay-Z's competitive spirit that has made him one of the best rappers of all time as well as one of hip-hop's most successful businesspeople. However, when it comes to his charitable efforts, Hov is driven by something very different: his desire to share his wealth of experience with the world.

"You've been blessed. Your talent has taken you to places you never thought you would see. I just think as a compassionate human being, you want people to see," Jay told MTV News before describing the first time he saw Italy.

Hov, who was amazed with his own early travels abroad, called an old friend and urged him to "pack a bag" because he simple had to see Italy.

On December 8, the God MC announced that he would be playing two benefit shows at New York's Carnegie Hall, the proceeds from which will go to the United Way of New York City and the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation. The money raised will help put low-income NYC students in a position to attend college. Back in September, the Shawn Carter Foundation threw a fundraising carnival on the west side of Manhattan where celebrity guests like New York Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez and pitcher C.C. Sabathia bought high-priced tickets to help Hov's cause.

All the Watch the Throne MC wants to do is create an opportunity. To help illustrate his interest in helping to educate young people, Jay quoted a line from the final scene of the 1993 Robert De Niro film "A Bronx Tale": "The saddest thing in life is wasted talent."

"That really bothers me, someone who really applies themselves and wants to go and they can't further their education because of their situation, because of money or because they have to stay in the house to watch their [siblings]," Jay told MTV News. "Something about that really bothers me."

Jay and his mother, Gloria Carter, started the Shawn Carter foundation in 2002 to help those facing socioeconomic difficulties further their education at institutions of higher learning. The foundation started with one student earning a full ride through college and grew to offer 50 scholarships to students in 50 different states annually. To date, more than 750 students have been awarded scholarships totaling in excess of $1.3 million.

Tickets for the Carnegie Hall shows, which will take place on February 6 and 7, will be sold privately and priced at a premium rate, fetching anywhere from $500 to $2,500 to raise a significant pot of money for the charity. Regular fans aren't completely shut out though. On January 30, a number of reasonably priced tickets will go on sale to the public. The publicly sold seats are being released close to the concert date in hopes of curtailing scalping.

"We're not just doing a show for the sake of it," Hov said. "For all these years, [the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation has] been really grassroots. My mom has been getting on the bus herself and taking kids to orientation and doing this work by herself. Now ... we're building this thing out."

Some of the industry's biggest divas brought more than just soul to "VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul" on Sunday night: they also brought style.

The annual show, which this year celebrates the birthplaces of soul music, is set to air Monday (December 19) at 9 p.m. ET on VH1. MTV News hit the red carpet at New York City's Hammerstein Ballroom, where we got to preview the fashion.

Jennifer Hudson showed off her stunning figure in a skin-tight Francesco Scognamiglio dress with a ruffled neckline. The Oscar winner completed the look with thigh-high rose-colored boots, also by Francesco Scognamiglio. Mary J. Blige worked the carpet in a champagne-colored, crystal-embellished gown from Michael Kors.

Florence, MJB, Jessie J Bring the Glam at 'Divas': MTV Style Has the Looks!

Champagne seemed to be a trend for the night, as Florence and the Machine's Florence Welch also opted for a nude color in an embroidered Antonio Berardi dress.

Welch was on hand to honor the late Amy Winehouse. "It's a real honor, actually, to be counted amongst these amazing female performers," Welch told MTV News on Friday. "It's really special for me, because I am still a relatively new artist, and to be up there with these really established singers is amazing for me ... I'm really grateful."

British songstress Jessie J, who never shies away from taking fashion risks, bared almost all in a sheer black dress with gold detailing, complete with shoulder pads and a black panel bottom.

The boys also held their own against powerful divas like Kelly Clarkson and Jill Scott, as Travie McCoy and Boyz II Men took the "Divas" stage.

Tune in to "VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul" on Monday, December 19, at 9 p.m. ET on VH1!

'Sherlock,' 'Chipmunks' Can't Save Sagging Box Office

Posted: 19 Dec 2011 12:49 AM PST

Limited release of 'Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol,' however, had record-breaking sales.
By Kevin P. Sullivan

Robert Downey Jr. in "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows"

More disappointing returns and one record-breaking bright spot were the stories of this past weekend's box office.

The two new wide releases, "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" and "Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked," led the weekend receipts but failed to live up to the high expectations set by the previous movies in each franchise. But the limited IMAX release of "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" signaled more of an uptick in ticket sales.

"Holmes" may have won the weekend with an estimated $40 million, according to Box Office Mojo, but that figure fell far below the original's $62.3 million in 2009. Lukewarm reviews may have contributed to the slump, but most critics said the sequel, at the very least, lived up to the original. The duo of Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law couldn't capture the same box-office magic as two years ago.

"Chipwrecked" couldn't come close to the numbers posted by the past two entries in the series, sinking to a distant second behind "Holmes" with an estimated $23.5 million during its opening weekend. That's a $25.4 million drop from 2009's "Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel" and a $20.8 million fall from the original. The tumble in tickets came despite a "B+" cinema score.

"Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol," on the other hand, broke records with its limited open. The film launched on roughly 300 IMAX screens around the country and raked in an impressive $13 million. That broke the record for the highest-grossing limited opening ever. "Ghost Protocol" opens wide on Wednesday.

Last week's leader, the even more disappointing "New Year's Eve" and "The Sitter" rounded out the top five with huge dips in their second weekends. "New Year's Eve" fell 43 percent, earning just $7.4 million, and Jonah Hill's "Sitter" dropped even further with $4.4 million.

In smaller releases, despite snubs from the Screen Actors Guild and the Golden Globes, "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" continued to put up solid numbers. The spy film expanded from four to 16 theaters and added an estimated $452,000 to its 10-day total of $852,000.

'Dark Knight Rises' Trailer Reveals Sorry State Of Gotham's Stadiums

Posted: 19 Dec 2011 09:55 AM PST

Let's discuss the newest trailer in the latest edition of The Weekly Rising.
By Kevin P. Sullivan

If you went to see "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" this weekend and you weren't lucky enough to see the prologue for "The Dark Knight Rises," you were lucky enough to see the second trailer.

And it was a hell of a trailer!

Nothing sets the tone like a young boy singing the national anthem, and tone is what the trailer really nails. When you walk away from it, the one idea that lingers is that some bad stuff is going down in Gotham.

This new trailer shares that, among other things, in common with the first. It also begins quietly, just like the teaser. Alfred worries about Bruce, and he probably should. It's been eight years, and not much is good in the city of Gotham. Gordon sits on the chopping block as the city's police commissioner, even though he let his wife think he died to protect the city. That should be mentioned in his performance review.

Selina Kyle plays a much bigger role than we have yet seen. Appropriately, she shows up at a beautifully shot masquerade ball and doesn't bring good news with her. "A storm is coming, Mr. Wayne," she warns. "And you and your friends better batten down the hatches." Her role in all of this still hangs in the balance. Will she be a full-on antagonist for Batman or will she toe the line? She did do Bruce the courtesy of warning him about the storm, so maybe it's more ambiguous than good guy vs. bad guy. She's motivated by an idea, along the lines of what got Bruce started in the first place, so that may be the bond that connects them. What that motivating idea is has yet to be disclosed, but she comes off in the trailer sounding like an advocate for the little man.

Bane, on the other hand, has no ambiguity to speak of. Between the prologue and the second trailer, we finally get a better idea of what to expect from the masked man. I love his entrance into the football stadium. Then the final punch lands firmly with one of the greatest trailer moments in years. Watching the football field crumble in near silence automatically qualifies that scene as one of the best of 2012. Other films have done similar stunts, but not with such an assured hand, so consider me on-board with Bane's supposed earthquake machine. Admittedly, it sounded too hokey for Nolan's Batman movies, but no one can deny the awesomeness of that football scene.

Both the prologue and the new trailer prove that the talk in last month's Empire wasn't just talk. In just the two short clips, Nolan has established Bane's presence and a solid argument for him as the choice for the "Rises" villain. He's big, bad and calculated. Instead of trying to overshoot Heath Ledger's Joker, Nolan and Tom Hardy are aiming in the opposite direction.

If a trailer does its job, we should be left with an idea of what the film will be like without knowing every single story beat. That's where the trailer succeeds the most. While the stadium lets us know exactly what happens in that moment, we don't know why Bane does it. We know that he frees and arms prisoners, but for what purpose? Miranda Tate shows up, but we're still not sure what evil thing — because let's be honest — she'll be doing later in the film. Selina Kyle has an agenda, but who's to say what it is just yet?

Now I want to hear from you. What did you think of the trailer? Tweet your impressions to me via @KPSull,and check back with Splash Page on Wednesday to see some of your responses and a discussion based on those tweets.

Florence And The Machine Call Illuminati Rumor 'Ridiculous'

Posted: 18 Dec 2011 11:33 PM PST

'I heard Jay-Z and Beyoncé were [members of the Illuminati], so I don't know how I feel about it,' Florence Welch quips about accusations.
By James Montgomery

By now, you have probably seen Florence and the Machine's video for "No Light, No Light," and perhaps even read a few online comments about the clip, which seem to focus on its rather heavy use of religious iconography and how that is irrefutable proof that frontwoman Florence Welch is either a practitioner of the dark arts or a full-fledged member of (dun dun dunnn!) the Illuminati.

Of course, all of this was news to Welch herself, who laughed off the accusations when she sat down with MTV News last week — even if she did find them oddly flattering.

"That's ridiculous. Really? So people [think that?]" she asked. "I heard Jay-Z and Beyoncé were [members of the Illuminati], so I don't know how I feel about it, because I think Jay-Z and Beyoncé are the most incredible artists ever, so in a weird way, it's slightly complimentary. But also completely ridiculous. I'm definitely not [a member]. It's just not true."

So, for the record, Florence Welch: 100 percent not Illuminati. And having cleared that up, we then asked her about the imagery in the "No Light" video, which references everything from voodoo to Roman Catholicism and culminates with Welch plummeting from high atop a New York skyscraper, through a stained-glass window, and into the outstretched arms of altar boys. It is certainly open to interpretation — though, to Welch, it had little to do with the occult or secret societies, and everything to do with her own life.

"When [directors Arni and Kinski] pitched it to me, I loved the idea of stained glass ... and this falling thing, to do it on a New York skyline was really important to me, and there's some weird stuff with my grandmother about New York that's kind of too dark to go into," she explained. "The idea of falling from a great height in New York is intense ... because my grandmother, she died in New York, and I literally didn't think about it until we were filming and I was like, 'This is kind of insane.' "

What's your interpretation of the "No Light, No Light" video? Share your thoughts below!

Mary J. Blige, Jessie J On What Makes A 'VH1 Diva'

NEW YORK — On Sunday night, some of the music industry's biggest divas gathered at Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan to pay tribute to some of the most-soulful divas in the biz for "VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul." Kelly Clarkson, Florence Welch, Mary J. Blige, Jennifer Hudson, Jessie J and Jill Scott all put their new-millennium spin on classics from cities like Detroit, Chicago, London, Philadelphia and Memphis, Tennessee.

"I don't even know what a diva is," Dolly Parton told MTV News on the red carpet before the big show kicked off. "I think it's someone that's strong in their beliefs, strong in their own talent, strong in who they are. ... I see a lot of divas around here, and some say I am one, and I don't know if that's true or not," she joked. "Do you think I'm a diva?"

Jessie J waxed poetic about the title "diva." "Sometimes the media can completely misunderstand what the word 'diva' means," she said. "To me, tonight is what it's about, and every single person's that been here that's had longevity, passion, consistent, amazing music that goes around the globe. For me to be a part of it in any way is incredible."

The show recalled some of the greatest hits from divas present, past and future. And it even took time to fondly remember the late Amy Winehouse, whose own music was so deeply inspired by soul music of days past.

"She's in a class by herself," Mary J. Blige said. "She just broke the mold when she came out; it was like, 'Wow, who is this?' And I could hear all of the pain before I even knew she had pain."

While every diva at the show, which airs Monday night (December 19) on VH1, has played a pivotal role in pop music, Gym Class Heroes frontman Travie McCoy doesn't believe that many will be as influential as Winehouse. "I don't think there's gonna be another voice that cut through the way her voice cut through," he said. "And I think that alone makes her a legend."

Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine, one of the performers during the tribute, summed up Winehouse: "She was the most incredible artist, and I feel kind of overwhelmed to be doing it," she said. She later took the stage with Nas, Wanda Jackson and Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings to remember Winehouse's catalogue of music.

"VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul" airs at 9 p.m. ET/PT tonight on VH1.

Rihanna Teases 'You Da One' Video With New Still

Rihanna is giving fans a taste of what they should expect from her forthcoming "You Da One" video. Over the weekend, the Talk That Talk singer tweeted a still from the clip.

"#YOUDAONEVIDEO you know im already in trouble 4 this but, i like to keep yall in the loop," she wrote in the tweet, which also included a photo of Rihanna, topless, leaning back in a chair as she blows smoke into the air. It's a similar image to her deluxe-edition album cover, where she looks into the camera, also topless and blowing smoke.

Helmed by her "We Found Love" director Melina Matsoukas, Rihanna dropped a behind-the-scenes video earlier this month. In the clip, filmed while the singer was on her Loud Tour, a mold is taken of her teeth to create a fanged grill for the video.

"I'm getting a grill made for an upcoming video shoot for 'You Da One,' but I only want the bottom done with fangs, and they have to make a mold so they can send it to New Castle, ship it from New Castle, get it made, and then send it back to London for the video," she explained, giving no other details about the grill's presence in the video.

Some photos from the set also leaked around the same time. Wearing a short blond wig with blunt bangs, Rihanna dons a tight white tank top, denim shorts, bold black tights with the word "Boy" written on them in white and a white bowler hat. The look fits the wardrobe she's been wearing during this album phase, which is very street and punk-inspired.

"You Da One" is the second single off the album. Produced by Dr. Luke, it follows up the success of "We Found Love."

"This is one of those records, it becomes very addictive," she said about the track. "To me, it's very infectious: The more you listen to it, the more you want to listen to it. It had a reggae vibe, but it's a sweet little love letter. I love the record. It's kind of dirty, I love it."

Waka Flocka Flame 'Lost' After Slim Dunkin Murder

Police have so far been unable to identify gunman in Friday shooting in Atlanta.

Waka Flocka Flame is taking the Friday shooting death of his friend and rap cohort Slim Dunkin very hard. "WISH IT WAS ME ... MY F---ING RIGHT HAND IS GONE," Flocka tweeted the day after the murder.

The "O Let's Do It" MC continued to vent over Twitter, writing, "damn I feel dead" and "IM LOST" in reaction to the tragic news.

Dunkin, who was born Mario Hamilton, was fatally shot once in the chest after an altercation with another man inside an Atlanta recording studio. Slim was an up-and-coming rapper in Waka's Brick Squad Monopoly crew and had collaborated heavily with both Flocka and BSM-affiliate Gucci Mane. Atlanta police have interviewed a number of witnesses who were on or around the scene at the time of the shooting, but police have been unable to identify the gunman.

"Right now we're just trying to ... identify who may have seen what, really just trying to put the pieces together," Atlanta Police Major Keith Meadows told The Associated Press. "It seems everybody witnessed something very different. We're just trying to go back and make sense of everything."

Despite their musical beef, rival rapper Kebo Gotti explained that he was in no way involved in the murder of his onetime friend. "I just don't know what to say rite now," Kebo said in a statement issued to MTV News. "What can u say u know when people are pointing the finger at you saying you killed someone you cared about just [because] you just had a fight, what can you say, what are you supposed to say about something like that. He was my brother."

Kebo, who was an original member of Brick Squad, split from the crew and has been involved in a beef with both Dunkin and Waka for some time now. The drama has even gotten physical. In an edited viral video that surfaced on World Star Hip-Hop in October, Gotti spews numerous insults at Flocka and is seen having a street fight with Dunkin.

On Halloween, Slim released Menace II Society, a 20-track mixtape featuring Gucci Mane, Roscoe Dash and Pastor Troy.

Rest in peace, Slim Dunkin. Leave your condolences in the comments below.

'Breaking Dawn,' 'Harry Potter' Lead MTV Year-End Polls

'Hunger Games' wins Most Anticipated Movie of 2012.
By Eric Ditzian

For last few weeks, guilds, associations and critics' groups have been doling out year-end honors to the likes of "The Artist" and "The Descendants." Boring!

MTV Movies, by contrast, has been running a series of fan-voted polls to get to the bottom of what 2011 was really all about. Which film delivered 2011's finest sex scene? Which set was most successfully stalked by the paparazzi? Between flashing his abs and breaking up street fights, what was truly Ryan Gosling's best moment of the year? These were among the questions put to fans in poll form, and the response was staggering. Millions of votes were cast. Comment sections lit up with equal parts enthusiasm and vitriol.

Now, without further ado, it's time to reveal the winners.

Best Ensemble: "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1"
Of all our Best of 2011 polls, the race for Best Ensemble was the most contentious. Though five films were in the running ("Bridesmaids," "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2," "Breaking Dawn," "Horrible Bosses" and "The Help"), it was a photo finish between the wizards of Hogwarts and the supernaturals of Forks. After nearly 2 million votes cast, Bella, Edward and co. were the vampire victors by a narrow .13 percent margin. — Amy Wilkinson

Best Sex Scene: "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1"
The sauciest and most titillating of our Best Of polls pitted beloved Bella and Edward against some "Bridesmaids," Justin Timberlake and "Immortals," not to mention a whole lot of Michael Fassbender. Let's be honest, there's no loser when it comes to Best Sex Scene, but the headboard-breaking, pillow-shredding one in "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn- Part 1" was almost a guaranteed winner from the start. Fans told us they were excited about the big moment way back in July, and if their enthusiasm wasn't apparent then, the boatloads of votes they cast in this poll were loud and clear. — Kara Warner

Best Movie Robot: Optimus Prime, "Transformers: Dark of the Moon"
It doesn't take genius artificial intelligence to determine which movie robot was your favorite from 2011. Despite strong showings from the likes of '80s Robot from "The Muppets" and "Real Steel" boxing champ Atom, it was fearless Autobot leader Optimus Prime that stole the show with over 60 percent of the vote. Breaking out early with a healthy lead, no one stood a chance against the "Transformers" icon. Our only real regret with this category — and really, how could anyone regret a Best Movie Robots category? — is not sticking in Megatron and seeing what kind of damage the Decepticon warlord could have done here. Our money would still be on Prime, naturally. — Josh Wigler

Best Dressed: Kristen Stewart, "Breaking Dawn - Part 1"
It's hard to deny that a film was the "Best Dressed" of the year when you consider that one of its most anticipated moments wasn't a moment at all, but a wedding dress. And when the secret was finally out, it was everywhere. Designers made pricey replicas, a more affordable version and even prom dresses inspired by the long-sleeved gown Stewart wore. Not even Ryan Gosling and his suits could take away Bella's special day. — Kevin Sullivan

Best Superhero: Magneto, "X-Men: First Class"
Looks like you folks enjoy your heroes a bit on the morally gray side, as Erik "Magneto" Lehnsherr of "X-Men: First Class" fame cleaned up this category with a strong 42.9 percent lead. In the end, as awesome as runners-up Thor and Captain America are (it wasn't even close for Green Lantern or Green Hornet), there's just no denying the Oscar-caliber work Michael Fassbender put into Magneto, a performance that matches — and even exceeds, in some views — Ian McKellan's fabulous interpretation from the previous "X-Men" films. Sounds like a ringing endorsement for a "Magneto: Nazi Hunter" prequel to "First Class" to us! — J.W.

Best Couple: Bella and Edward, "Breaking Dawn - Part 1"
Much like our Best Ensemble poll, Best Couple boiled down to a face-off between "Harry Potter" and "Breaking Dawn." Would Ron and Hermione's romance cast a spell over voters? Or would Bella and Edward's epic vampire sex be unbeatable? In the end, it was indeed the hot honeymooners who prevailed, feathers flying. — A.W.

Best Set Stalking: "The Dark Knight Rises"
"The Dark Knight Rises" kept no secrets about what was happening down on Wall Street this past fall. It was all-out war between Batman and Bane, and it was all too big to hide. That wasn't the only set-stalking goodness, though. Not only did we get to see the two-man army duking it out, but we got an early glimpse of Catwoman that didn't exactly have people purring and a brand-new ride for the Caped Crusader. Now all we have to do is figure out what the hell that bomb-like thing was. — K.S.

Best Ryan Gosling Moment: Ab flash, "Crazy, Stupid, Love"
Those who've been following the Gos will likely agree that 2011 has been a banner year for the Golden Globe-nominated Hollywood heartthrob. The Best Ryan Gosling moment nominees included inspiring a protest against People magazine's choice of Sexiest Man Alive, his hilarious acknowledgement/ reenactment of popular Internet meme F--- Yeah! Ryan Gosling, flashing some killer abs in "Crazy, Stupid, Love," the gruesome and chilling head stompage in "Drive," and that time he broke up a street fight in NYC (about which he later admitted he was embarrassed). The Gosling-loving masses have spoken and they like their man best ... shirtless. — K.W.

Most Likely to Win Best Picture: "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2"
Last week, the Screen Actors Guild and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association dealt blows to the final "Potter" film's chances of nabbing an Oscar nomination for Best Picture. No matter! Voters in our poll selected "Deathly Hallows, Part 2" to win Oscar's top prize. It wasn't even close. "The Artist," generally considered the Best Picture front-runner, placed a distant second behind the boy wizard and his wand-waving pals. "The Descendants," another Oscar fave, came in dead last. And while "Potter" won't prove as popular with Oscar voters as it will with MTV voters, the franchise denouement could still sneak in a Best Picture nomination; experts who track the situation closely suggest a Producers Guild of America nod could clear the way. — Eric Ditzian

Most Anticipated Movie of 2012: "The Hunger Games"
In one of the bigger upsets of these end-of-year polls, Katniss KO'd Bella (Batman, Spider-Man and Snow White, too). Not bad work for a character who hasn't even been seen on the big screen yet. The approaching year is easily the most exciting in recent memory; when "The Hobbit," "The Amazing Spider-Man" and a new Bond film don't even crack the top three you know 2012 is shaping up to be a cinematic year for the ages. What's more, the "Hunger Games" win has got to come as welcome news to Lionsgate as the studio prepares to launch a new YA-adapted franchise the same year as the "Twilight Saga" finishes up its box-office run. — E.D.

Lindsay Lohan's <i>Playboy</i> 'Breaking Sales Records'

Hugh Hefner tweets that actress' January/February issue is selling well.

Despite Lindsay Lohan's leaked Playboy photos and cancellation of her appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," it seems the issue is doing quite well.

After early reports surfaced that the magazine, which hit newsstands last week, wasn't selling so hot, TMZ reported that her retro-themed shoot is starting to sell out. Sources say retailers in cities like Los Angeles and New York have had to order more issues, and subscriptions to the Playboy website have increased since the issue became available.

The news seems to have pleased head honcho Hugh Hefner, who confirmed the report on Twitter. "The Lindsay Lohan January-February Double Issue is breaking sales records," he wrote on Sunday.

Last week, Lohan took to Twitter and opened up about the nude pictorial she had done in the style of Marilyn Monroe's classic spreads. "Playboy on stands now!" she said. "I was so nervous! I hope people like it and pick up a copy!!! ....xoxo."

In the January/February issue, Lohan also talks about her ongoing problems. "Looking back, I probably would have listened to and taken more advice from the people whom I admire and would have followed through with it more," she told the magazine. "My stubbornness at 18 and 19 years old got in the way. During the past five years, I've learned that time flies faster than you think, and because you only live once, you have to learn from your mistakes, live your dreams and be accountable."
