Nicki Minaj Very 'Selective' About Next Project

'She wants hit records every time and she wants to be creative,' producer Kane Beatz tells Mixtape Daily.

Behind the Beats: Kane Beatz
When Nicki Minaj and Kane Beatz got together on her Pink Friday debut, the results were undeniable. Besides crafting songs like the soul-baring "Dear Old Nicki" and braggadocious album opener "I'm the Best," the Florida producer gave the Harajuku Barbie a smash single with "Super Bass."

So it makes sense that just as Nicki the Ninja heads back into the studio to begin working on her follow-up, she's tapped Kane for a beat or two.

"It's crazy. We got one so far. She's in L.A. goin' crazy," the platinum hitmaker told Mixtape Daily while he walked the black carpet at the 2011 BET Hip Hop Awards.

Kane, who is also working with Roscoe Dash and with Rick Ross on his upcoming God Forgives, I Don't LP, revealed that Nicki is in the planning stages of her next album, so things could take awhile.

"She just started, so she's really picking her music and picking the songs. She's real selective," he said. "She'll pick all the beats before she even starts writing, so right now, we're just getting music together, and it's goin' crazy right now."

When working with Minaj, the "Bed Rock" producer focuses on presenting the Young Money star with hit records but also different types of beats that can allow her imagination to run wild.

"She wants hit records every time and she wants to be creative," he said. "With Nicki, it's more about getting the music right and leaving her the room to be creative and leaving her room to do her."

'Footloose' Stars Love Remake's Nods To Original

New stars name Ariel's red boots, Ren's VW Beetle and Willard's dance montage as their favorite call-outs to 1984 original.

For the "Footloose" purists out there who are worried about how the Kenny Wormald and Julianne Hough-starring remake pays homage to the Kevin Bacon and Lori Singer-led original, fear not: There are more than enough nods to the 1984 dance classic in director Craig Brewer's 2011 version.

When MTV News caught up with the cast and Brewer, who have also assured us that their film stands on its own, we asked them to reveal their favorite scenes that were directly inspired by the original film.

"My red boots," Hough said, speaking to the fancy footwear that both she and Singer's versions of the character Ariel wear.

"The Bug," Wormald said of his and Bacon's characters owning a beat-up Volkswagen Beetle. "And the 'angry dance.' Yeah, and everything. All the nods I think were appropriate.‬"

"I love the flick of the drivers' license from the police‬," Hough added about the moment when Ren is harassed by local law enforcement that was lifted from the first film and repurposed in the second.

"And Willard [Miles Teller] doing the kick-step right through the lockers," Wormald said of the boys' "Let's Hear It for the Boy"-backed dance montage. "That was shot-for-shot, so that's incredible.‬"

Brewer explained why those moments were "must-haves" for him.

"We had to have the 'angry dance.' We had to have the 'teaching Willard how to dance' montage," he said. "And I'm very proud to say it's set to Deniece Williams' original 'Let's Hear It for the Boy.' There's this moment where, like, all these guys are sitting around trying to teach him the gangster walk bounce, and it's set to Deniece Williams' 'Let's Hear It for the Boy.' Where else are you going to see that but in my version of 'Footloose'?" He said with a smile.

"Then, of course, the VW Bug. If you see 'Hustle & Flow,' you'll see I have a love for junky cars. I think they're the most beautiful American statement of 'I don't have a lot, but we're going to do a lot with it,' and the VW Bug, I think, was one of the first of those badass junky cars.‬"

'X Factor': Rihanna Calls Brian Bradley 'A Mini J. Cole'

Enrique Iglesias and Pharrell Williams also help out judges, while Mariah Carey can't make it across the pond.

Half of the 32 "X Factor" semifinalists performed on Thursday's (October 13) episode, which was delayed by a day due to Fox's coverage of Major League Baseball. The contestants ventured off to their mentors' luxurious homes and strutted their stuff in front of them, each vying for one of 16 spots in the finals.

In three out of four cases, the judges were joined by a super-special celebrity guest: In Santa Barbara, California, Paula Abdul was accompanied by Pharrell Williams; Enrique Iglesias was coupled with Nicole Scherzinger in Malibu, California; and Rihanna was by L.A. Reid's side at his cozy estate in the Hamptons, New York. Meanwhile, over in France, Simon Cowell was stood up by Mariah Carey, whose plane was grounded by Hurricane Irene. When it was time to make decisions, a vocal coach and a team of music producers were there to give their impressions to Cowell, whose backyard, it should be noted, houses an absolutely enormous swimming pool.

Simon's pool aside, it was Rihanna who was the episode's MVP. Not only did she help provide Reid feedback on the contestants, but three of them performed her songs, including Seattle crooner Phillip Lomax, who took RiRi by surprise with his laid-back, Sinatra-style take on "Don't Stop the Music." Other singers taking on Rihanna songs were Temecula, California, Bieber-hair-sporting brother duo the Brewer Boys, who did a Tejano version of "Only Girl in the World," and James Kenney, who took on the emotionally charged "Russian Roulette."

As a judge, RiRi seemed most taken by pint-size 14-year-old rapper Brian "Astro" Bradley, whom she compared to "a mini J. Cole." And the brimming-with-confidence Bradley didn't hesitate to inform RiRi of his future plans with her, telling her frankly, "We will be doing a collab one day."

The Carey-less Cowell is tasked with mentoring the girls in the competition, and the standouts included 14-year-old Drew Ryniewicz, whose slowed, hushed take on Roxette's "It Must Have Been Love" was called "magic" by the tight-T-shirted one, and rugby bruiser Caitlyn Koch, whose "Will You Love Me Tomorrow" caused Cowell to praise her pitch and tone. Cowell also enjoyed Simone Battle's piano-ballad version of the Beatles' "Help," but he seemed less sure about Tora Woloshin's electro version of "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction": "It doesn't quite get to me," a puzzled Cowell explained.

In the groups category, Salt Lake City, Utah, trio the Anser impressed Paula and Pharrell with their version of Pink's "Perfect," though Pharrell seemed perplexed by a group member's decision to leave his striking red-framed glasses off during the performance. Virginia Beach quartet 4Shore were praised for their sound take on Brownstone's "If You Love Me," though Pharrell suggested the group needs to "dirty up their style a little bit." And both the judges and the members of Lakoda Rayne seemed to agree something was "off" during their performance of Lady Gaga's "Born This Way," not surprising, considering the group was Frankenstein'd together by the judges and had never previously performed together as a unit.

In the category of the Olds — sorry, the "Over 30s" — 53-year-old Elaine Gibbs and 42-year-old Stacy Francis stood out with their versions of Oasis' "Stop Crying Your Heart Out" and Prince's "Purple Rain," respectively. (Of the latter's, which seemingly echoed throughout the canyons of Malibu, Iglesias marveled, "I think the neighbors heard that.") But the most memorable performance (for all the wrong reasons) came from formerly homeless 49-year-old Dexter Haygood, who strutted like Mick Jagger and kicked his legs in the air like David Lee Roth while screaming his way through Beyoncé's "Crazy in Love." Iglesias practically buried his head in his hands in horror during the performance, and many viewers probably did too.

On Sunday's "X Factor," the second half of the contestants performs in front of the judges, and the talent pool is cut in half from 32 to 16.

Who should make the "X Factor" finals and who shouldn't? Let us know in the comments!

Drake Takes Pride In Nicki Minaj On 'Make Me Proud'

'I'm just proud of you, whether it's Nicki or any girl that I've ever known,' Drake tells MTV News of new single, which he plans to perform on 'SNL.'

Drake loves Nicki Minaj and has even said he'd marry her. Maybe they will get married, maybe they won't, but one thing's for sure: Drizzy is proud of his Young Money labelmate.

On "Make Me Proud," the latest single from his upcoming album Take Care, the OVO general expresses his appreciation for the Harajuku Barbie and every female who is out there accomplishing her goals.

"Whenever I make songs surrounding women, I always try to find refreshing stances to take as opposed to just like, "Oh, you're sexy" or "Oh, I want you." The song, it really came up in passing conversation, just being like, "I'm proud of you," " Drake told MTV News of the T-Minus-produced song that he plans to perform October 15 when he appears as the musical guest on "Saturday Night Live."

"Not even necessarily that a woman has to go achieve grandiose things to be proud; it's just that I'm proud of you for trying. It's hard to be a woman out here these days, especially to be pretty and especially to be smart and want something for yourself," he said. "So I'm just proud of you whether it's Nicki or any girl that I've ever known in my life that's doing well for herself."

The Young Money heartthrob has never had a problem expressing his emotions when it comes to the opposite sex. On "Best I Ever Had," he unapologetically toasts his sweetheart; on "Fireworks," he opens up about his fling with pop&B princess Rihanna; and on "Marvins Room," he drunk-dials his ex. Still, there is something about this new single that makes Drake even more confident.

"It's a dope thing to say, like, 'Go out there and make me proud,' " he explained. "And you don't feel uncomfortable as a man saying it."

What other song do you hope Drake performs on "SNL"? Let us know in the comments!

Tom Morello Occupies Wall Street As City Tightens Grip

Protesters start to clean Zuccotti Park on Thursday in hopes of avoiding a city eviction.

In hopes of avoiding a city eviction from Zuccotti Park, protesters involved in the Occupy Wall Street movement began voluntary cleanup efforts Thursday afternoon (October 13).

It's an attempt urged by park occupiers themselves after Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced Wednesday that protesters would have to temporarily evacuate the grounds by 7 a.m. Friday for a four-weeks-overdue mandatory cleanup. Because some viewed the city order as a means to end the protest, the Liberty Park occupiers have started to remove debris and scrub the sidewalks.

MTV News caught up with Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello, who appeared at the protest Thursday and offered his support for the Occupy Wall Street movement. "Every successful, progressive and radical movement needs a soundtrack and I'm just helping to provide," he told us.

Morello was on hand to play a number of songs with his harmonica and guitar, including cuts from his World Wide Rebel Songs LP.

"I played at Occupy L.A. last Saturday and Occupy Wall Street today now, and it's a movement now that's in 13,000 cities across the country, and it's growing every day," he told MTV News. "I think the sky's the limit. There's no telling what this is going to be, and [if] you're watching now in your town, you can begin occupying your town today."

Morello is just one of a string of celebrity supports who have showed up to the now-dubbed Liberty Park, including Kanye West and Russell Simmons.

If the city and the park's owners, Brookfield Properties, still proceed with the protesters' eviction and cleanup process, it will cause a bit of a dent in the protest. According to The New York Times, Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly told reporters Thursday afternoon that the protesters will not be allowed to take their sleeping and camping gear back into the park after the cleanup. Zuccotti Park has had a ban on sleeping bags for weeks now as part of the grounds' rules, but has yet to enforce the guidelines.

Colin Harris-Mctigue, a volunteer organizer and coordinator of the outreach program for Occupy Wall Street, also spoke to MTV News recently about how the community formed. "The way [the outreach program] started was one day at 3 o'clock, we stood up and said, 'Does anyone want to join an outreach committee?' And that was the foundation. It was two people. And from there, we now have over 2,000 in our data list," Harris-Mctigue explained.

The TeenNick HALO Awards are weeks away from kicking off, but the celebrities involved are already spreading the word. In a new PSA for the event, airing November 6, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, David Beckham and Jessica Biel have joined forces to let viewers know about the show.

"Anti-bullying became something that I am now very passionate about," Lady Gaga said in a statement about being involved with the show. "I was bullied in school, and for a very long time, I kept those feelings inside. Today, I feel grateful and happy that I was able to get through these struggles and have friends, family and people around that inspired me — people like Emily-Anne."

Emily-Anne Rigal, 17, has been paired with Gaga thanks to her work to help stop bullying. She started the WeStopHate.org website, helping to shed light on the cause.

Swift will be paired with 19-year-old James O'Dwyer, who started the Magnolia Disaster Relief, an aid program that aims to offer relief to rural areas hit by tornadoes.

"I think James and I have a lot in common, and I'm really glad I got to meet and surprise him at my concert," Swift said. "Judging from the things he's been able to accomplish, he's one of those people who does the work without looking for or taking any of the credit.

"What really impressed me about James is how he stepped up to the line as soon as he heard that people were in trouble," she continued. "He saw first-hand how their lives had been destroyed and instead of getting frozen in that moment, he posted a message on Facebook to rally anyone who could bring supplies and food to those who lost their homes in tornados."

Meanwhile, Biel is paired with Shanoah Washington, an 18-year-old who created the Sista2Sista program, which aims to motivate young women. Finally, Beckham was paired with Kyle Weiss, 18, who started the organization FUNDaFIELD, which builds soccer fields in Africa.

The show will be hosted by Nick Cannon. It all takes place at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles on October 26. The broadcast will air November 6 on Nick at Nite, with an encore November 7 on TeenNick.

Don't miss the TeenNick HALO Awards on Sunday, November 6, on Nick at Nite.

Michael Jackson Doctor's Decision A 'Recipe For Disaster'

During Conrad Murray's involuntary manslaughter trial, sleep expert criticizes decision to give pop star propofol and two other sedatives.
By Gil Kaufman

It was another day of harsh criticism in the involuntary manslaughter case against doctor Conrad Murray on Thursday (October 13). After nearly two weeks of the prosecution attempting to paint cardiologist Murray as a negligent, sloppy physician who did not take the proper precautions in safeguarding the health of the 50-year-old pop icon, the final two witnesses took the stand to wrap up the state's case.

Day 13
The Witnesses
» Dr. Nader Kamangar, sleep expert
» Dr. Steven Shafer, propofol expert

Testimony highlights
» UCLA sleep expert Kamangar told the court that Jackson appeared to suffer from insomnia caused by anxiety about performing and a possible drug problem that Murray should have evaluated before he began treating the singer with the powerful surgical anesthetic propofol, according to the Los Angeles Times. He referred to Murray's decision to give Jackson propofol and two other sedatives on the morning of June 25, 2009, a "recipe for disaster."

» A defense attorney asked whether some of the decisions Kamangar called "extreme deviations" from standard care could have directly caused Jackson's death. "The fact that he didn't write down his [Jackson's] vital signs ... that didn't kill Michael Jackson did it?" lawyer Michael Flanagan asked. "The failure to chart was not a cause of death, was it?" Kamangar replied that the charting itself was not, but that keeping proper records of how much and which kinds of medicine Jackson had received, as well as his level of hydration and blood pressure, were all crucial bits of data that were missing. "It's one of many factors," he concluded.

» In abbreviated testimony, leading propofol expert Shafer said he was hired 20 years ago by the company that makes the drug to help them figure out the correct dosages for the anesthetic.

Murray has pleaded not guilty to the charge of involuntary manslaughter. He faces four years in prison and the loss of his medical license. The prosecution was close to finishing the presentation of its case before the judge unexpectedly called for a weekend recess Thursday afternoon due to a scheduling conflict. The final prosecution witness will continue his testimony Monday before the defense begins calling its witnesses.

After suggesting in opening statements that they would argue that Jackson either swallowed or somehow dosed himself with propofol, Murray's defense team pivoted away from that tactic Wednesday when it became clear from expert testimony that it was not a viable line of defense.

On Tuesday, October 18, at 7:54 p.m. ET/PT, Bieber will take over MTV to premiere the brand-new video for "Mistletoe," the first single from his upcoming holiday album Under the Mistletoe (due November 1). The clip, directed by Roman White (who did JB's "One Less Lonely Girl" video) was shot in Franklin, Tennessee, and features Justin in his holiday finest, not to mention a whole lot of actual snow.

And then, immediately following the "Mistletoe" premiere, Bieber will sit down for a 30-minute interview about the video, his new album and his holiday plans. The interview will stream live on MTV.com , and the True Beliebers can get in on the action starting now, by submitting text or video questions via Twitter, using the hashtag #AskBieber.

"Mistletoe" is the debut single from Bieber's first holiday album, which features his take on favorites like "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town" and "Little Drummer Boy," plus originals and cameos from heavyweights like Usher, Busta Rhymes, Boyz II Men, the Band Perry and, on an updated take of the Mariah Carey standard "All I Want for Christmas," none other than Carey herself.

Bieber premiered "Mistletoe" earlier this month to an audience in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, saying, "This is the first time anywhere in the world that I'm playing this, so this is special. This is just for you."

'Tis the season for giving, after all.

New anti-bullying campaign for Spirit Day also draws casts of 'Glee' and 'Pretty Little Liars.'

"Jersey Shore" star Vinny Guadagnino is set to team up with GLAAD (the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) to help celebrate Spirit Day, the organization announced on Thursday, October 13.

The MTV reality star is just one of a number of A-list actors, athletes and other celebrities who have stepped in to join GLAAD on October 20 for their latest anti-bullying campaign, "Amplify Your Voice!"

So, who else is lending a supportive voice to end the bullying that's so frequently aimed at the LGBT community? "Glee" cheerleader Naya Rivera, the cast of ABC Family's "Pretty Little Liars," and transgender celeb Chaz Bono, who's currently competing on "Dancing With the Stars," will all pitch in. Other participants include Mario Lopez and "Modern Family" star Ariel Winter. (The project was created with the help of the American Federation of Teachers and directs kids on how they can combat bullying in schools and beyond.)

The campaign also features members of New York's the Center, a Greenwich Village haven for LGBT youths to share their personal stories. "Millions of gay and transgender youth are made to feel like they don't fit in," Vinny says in a PSA for the campaign. "We've all been hurt by words before, so before you speak, think about how your words might affect someone else."

Projects like MTV's A Thin Line campaign have also helped to increase awareness about bullying among teens. On Monday night, MTV premiered the original film "DISconnected," which focused on issues in a world where technology controls personal lives.

"I see the viciousness of people every day," the "Shore" star said on the "DISconnected" after show, which he helped co-host. "I kind of want to be a soldier in the field, so to speak, and try to combat the negativity with a positive message. I want to help open people's eyes up, like this movie does, to the negativity, to the negativity."

You can show your support by wearing purple on October 20, for starters, and visit the Spirit Day site for more information about the ongoing crisis of anti-gay bullying. MTV will also participate by changing the network's on-air logo to a purple hue.

'Avengers' Trailer: 'Walking Dead' Creator Weighs In

Posted: 13 Oct 2011 03:28 AM PDT

Robert Kirkman tells MTV News, 'I don't know how this movie doesn't make 10 trillion dollars.'
By Josh Wigler

Two days have passed since the first trailer for "Marvel's The Avengers" burst its way online, and we still can't get enough. From our own analysis of the trailer to commentary from assorted movie and comic book experts, we here at MTV News remain insatiable in our appetite for all things "Avengers."

It's a good thing we're not alone. Writer Robert Kirkman, creator of the "Walking Dead" comic books and executive producer of the AMC television series, is just as enamored with Earth's Mightiest Heroes as we are — though he does have a few bones to pick with the first trailer.

Kirkman, who is celebrating both the arrival of his first "Walking Dead" prose novel and the return of the television series this week, sat down with MTV News to take a big bloody bite out of the "Avengers" trailer. See what he had to say in our video, and read on for more of his thoughts.

Loki's Arrival
Tom Hiddleston returns to the Marvel Universe as the trickster god Loki, this time terrorizing not just Thor, but his brother's new earthly companions as well. But there's something about his arrival in this first trailer that Kirkman thinks is a little bit off.

"Loki's hanging out in [some kind of alien chamber], and I don't know ... there are guys showing up, and he's in this thing that's not quite a prison cell, but he's not in Asgard," the writer said. "He's standing there, but he's not really doing anything. Then these guys show up, and he's like, 'I'm going to stab you!' And didn't these guys know he was going to stab them? I don't know!"

Getting Ready
As the threat facing Earth grows increasingly apparent, Agent Coulson asks his supervisor, Nick Fury, what they need to do next. "We get ready," is Fury's stoic reply — a reply that doesn't sit right with Kirkman.

"Look, I'm very excited about this movie, and I think this trailer is very good, but is there not a better line than, 'We get ready'?" he said. "Like, 'What do we do now?' 'Well, we get ready! We're going to put our shoes on and go do some stuff!' I don't get that. I'm sorry. I'm sure it's going to be a fantastic movie, but I wish there had been a better line there, like, 'We're going to get these mother----ing superheroes off of this mother----ing planet.' I don't know. That would have been better ... probably not appropriate, though!"

Widow's Pose
Scarlett Johansson's infamous pose in front of a massive explosion has had fans scratching their heads for some weeks now, and the "Avengers" trailer did little to explain her calm demeanor in the thick of the action. Kirkman, also confused, doesn't seem to mind the shot: "There's a thing exploding behind her, so clearly she's in a fight or something, but she's just standing there looking pretty — which is great!"

Iron Man Sparkles in the Sunlight
Even though most of the Avengers have had their chance to shine in their very own movies, there's little debate that Iron Man remains the feather in Marvel Studios' cap. Ol' Shellhead is featured prominently throughout the "Avengers" trailer, often seen blasting off over the iconic New York City skyline. Kirkman was more than pleased to see the wealth of Iron Man action, so much so that he feels the red-and-gold hero could be put to good use in other movies.

"I think you could put Iron Man in almost any movie, and I would go see it," he said with a laugh. "Like, the new 'Twilight' movie. I'm not really into that stuff, but if you put Iron Man flying in the new 'Twilight' movie, I'm totally going to go see that movie!"

Stark's Facial Hair
Still, if there's one critique Kirkman has for Tony Stark, it's the billionaire industrialist's goatee. The eternally bearded Kirkman knows a thing or two about facial hair, and he simply does not approve of Stark's look.

"If you look at the way that goatee is designed, people are going to get that tattooed on their backs at some point," he predicted. "It looks like some kind of weird tribal spaceship design or something. It irks me."

Rocket Launched
Already sold on the "Avengers" trailer, Kirkman's enthusiasm for the superhero flick only grew at the sight of Nick Fury wielding a rocket launcher. Easily one of the standout scenes of the trailer, Fury's explosive appearance nevertheless struck Kirkman as a bit unnecessary — and a lot awesome.

"You don't need to have Samuel L. Jackson shooting a rocket launcher," he reasoned. "That's not necessary. This already looks like a good movie, and I'm probably going to see it anyway. But at the point that Samuel L. Jackson shoots a rocket launcher, I think to myself, 'I'm probably going to see this movie twice.' "

Hulked Out
Another immediate selling point for Kirkman? The trailer's final shot, which gives us our first look at Mark Ruffalo's Jade Giant.

"'Oh, by the way, the Incredible Hulk is also in this movie.' Which, to me, is ridiculous," Kirkman said, laughing. "How much money do you want to spend on this movie? You got us! To add the Hulk on top of that, I don't know how this movie doesn't make 10 trillion dollars. I think James Cameron's going to have a hard time topping this one's box office when he comes back to do his next movie."

Johnny Depp Calls His 'Dark Shadows' Vampire 'Classic'

Anytime Johnny Depp and Tim Burton get together for a film, fans know to expect the unexpected, particularly with their retellings of familiar stories like "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and "Alice in Wonderland" and their next highly anticipated project, the big-screen adaptation of '60s vampire soap "Dark Shadows."

The fan fervor surrounding "Shadows" hit a high point recently when photos leaked of a heavily made-up Depp in his full Barnabas Collins costume, followed by the production's first official photo of the entire cast posed family portrait-style and Burton in action on set.

When MTV News caught up with Depp recently as he promoted "The Rum Diary," which hits theaters October 28, we asked what inspired the highly stylized look of the character.

"The memory that I have of watching the show as a kid, Jonathan Frid and what he did with that character was the main inspiration, for sure," he said of the actor who originated the role of Barnabas. "But also the idea of, over the years, these vampire movies have come out and vampire TV shows and stuff like that, and you go, 'Well, nobody looks like a vampire, man. What happened?'

"I adored Dracula, still do. I adored [everyone] from Bela Lugosi to Christopher Lee. I adore Nosferatu, [played by] Max Schrek. I adore all those wonderful sort-of horror films. And it was an opportunity really, an opportunity to sort of go into what really doesn't exist [onscreen] so much anymore, which is classic monster makeup and a classic monster character," Depp explained. "So that was really the inspiration Tim and I talked about."

Depp and Burton's "Dark Shadows," which also stars Michelle Pfeiffer, Helena Bonham Carter, Chloe Moretz, Jackie Earle Hayley and Eva Green, will be released May 11, 2012.

Check out everything we've got on "Dark Shadows."

Britney Spears To Premiere 'Criminal' Video Next Week

'Just saw the final cut of the Criminal video... It's so hot,' Britney tweets.

Britney Spears is ready to release her cheeky clip for "Criminal" next week, Spears and director Chris Marrs Piliero confirmed Thursday (October 13) on Twitter.

"Just saw the final cut of the Criminal video... It's so hot. Can't wait for you guys to see it next week," the pop songstress tweeted.

So when exactly will the video drop? A rep for the singer had no further details about the premiere when contacted by MTV News.

Earlier this month, Piliero stayed pretty quiet about what fans should expect from the video, but he did gush about Spears' performance on Twitter. "Not a whole lot i'm allowed to say about the @britneyspears criminal vid other than that i love this video and can't wait for it to come out," he wrote. "Oh and that she looks gorgeous in it... pretty sure it's cool for me to say that..."

Spears shot the video last month in London, right before kicking off the European leg of her Femme Fatale Tour. The video features Spears and real-life beau Jason Trawick. Little is known about what will happen in the video, but when Spears was photographed carrying a prop gun on set, politicians in the U.K. accused the star of glorifying violence after the London riots. The video was shot in Hackney, which was hit hard by the August riots, and local politicians were upset by what they saw as an insensitive gesture by Spears.

"It is only a music video, but it's images like this, with pop stars glamorizing gangs, which means that some young people ... get drawn in," Hackney's Member of Parliament, Diane Abbott, told the ITV news program "London Tonight." "Britney should really know better."

However, Spears shrugged off any criticisms in a statement to MTV News. "The video is a fantasy story featuring Britney's boyfriend, Jason Trawick, which literally plays out the lyrics of a song written three years before the riots ever happened," the statement read.

Milla Jovovich Proud Of 3-D Cleavage In 'Musketeers'

'I had to eat a lot of pasta and get cinched really tightly into the corset and let the girls do the acting for me,' she tells MTV News.

Paul W.S. Anderson was proud. Sitting in a swanky London hotel earlier this month while promoting "The Three Musketeers," the director happily recounted one critic's opinion of his 3-D action-adventure and the quality of the performance of Milla Jovovich, who is not only one of the film's stars but also his wife.

"There was a review of the movie that said Milla's cleavage is worth the price of admission," he laughed to MTV News. "Cleavage in 3-D: It was what the medium was invented for."

Shortly thereafter, Jovovich was shocked — shocked! — in an interview to learn her husband was dishing such details to the press. "I can't believe he told you that story!" she said with a smile. "That's so embarrassing. I'm like, 'Honey, you can't tell people that!' I'm trying to be taken seriously, and now my cleavage is going to sell tickets."

Whatever works, right? Though to be fair, "Musketeers" has a lot more going for it than some three-dimensional bosoms. Anderson's flick is a swashbuckling affair that stays true to much of Alexandre Dumas' classic tale, but introduces a whole lot of contemporary bling into the mix. So while you get fair maidens in corsets and swordfights galore, Anderson also delivers steampunk airships and 21st-century wit, all captured by 3-D cameras. At the center of it all is Jovovich's Milady de Winter, a tough-as-nails woman who may look harmless but who will stab you in the back — or at least poison or otherwise maim you — if the opportunity for self-preservation or self-promotion arises. How does such a double- and triple-crosser survive in "Musketeers"? What Jovovich calls her "girls" certainly help.

"I did have to prepare a lot to make my cleavage what it was," she said. "I had to eat a lot of pasta and get cinched really tightly into the corset to get the effect and let the girls do the acting for me. Each one took classes. Stanislavski. I think the left one is more talented than the right."

Lady Gaga 'Has Full Control,' Akon Says

Posted: 12 Oct 2011 11:04 PM PDT

'Kon was 'fully involved' in her first two albums, but now 'creatively, 100 percent, it's all Gaga,' he tells MTV News.

Over the course of her ever-evolving career, Lady Gaga's longtime boss, Akon, has always been by Gaga's side as she reincarnated herself from disco-ball-wearing dance princess to couture-sporting pop demi-goddess.

Now that Mother Monster is several years and millions of albums sold into her career, Akon has stepped back a bit and changed his role in the Haus of Gaga, giving the singer more control over what she does with her career.

"So the way it works is, Gaga's on Kon Live/Streamline, which is Vincent Herbert, and it's distributed through Interscope," he explained to MTV News. "And the first two albums, we were fully involved in everything creative when it comes to Gaga, and then, as she grows, she becomes more in tune with herself [and] what she wants to do.

"Now she has full control over her project, period," he continued. "Everything you see of Gaga now is all from her brain ... and our job is just to make sure whatever she's thinking we can make into reality. So I guess more so with the approval processes and everything like that, we still do what we do, but creatively, 100 percent, it's all Gaga, and Vince does all the day-to-day stuff relating to Gaga."

Then whatever's about to go down in Gaga's upcoming "Marry the Night" video certainly got the A-OK from Akon. The singer was spotted in New York City filming a clip for the fifth single from her chart-topping Born This Way.

Big Boi will avoid jail time following his arrest in August on drug charges in Miami.

The 36-year-old Outkast rapper (born Antwan Patton) was in a Miami courtroom Thursday (October 13), where he agreed to a deal that includes three months of drug testing, community service and a $2,000 charitable donation, according to The Associated Press.

Big Boi was arrested while exiting a cruise ship in August after a K-9 police dog sniffing for drugs hit upon him. When police searched the rapper, they allegedly found substances including 10 and a half Viagra pills, three pills of suspected Ecstasy, a cigarette roller with marijuana residue and 5.7 grams of MDMA powder.

He was hit with two felony drug charges, but prosecutors said that if he remains drug-free for three months, those charges will be dismissed.

Following the arrest, Big Boi's attorney, Daniel Kane, issued a statement about the incident. "While Big Boi was traveling with his group and friends, a small amount of contraband was found in the collective luggage. I am confident when the entire facts are aired BIG BOI will be completely exonerated."

The ATLien didn't release any statement about the deal, but he did tweet an inspirational comment about an hour after his court appearance, writing, "God is Great! #weoutchea RT @BibleWisdoms: God is light. There's no darkness in him." He followed a short time later with a shout to the legal affairs reporter for the AP in Miami and the celebratory update, "on the way back from Miami ... u already know, Butta."

Kelly Clarkson has long had a strong relationship with the fans who've stuck with her from the "American Idol" days through all manner of label drama. And come next week, she's going to reward some of those lucky followers with a rare club show.

Clarkson will take the stage next Wednesday at Los Angeles' 500-capacity Troubadour for a special show in advance of the October 24 release of her fifth album, Stronger. Tickets for the free gig are first come, first serve, with fans encouraged to register at www.kellyclarksonshow.com for a chance to attend the gig.

The website warns, however, that access to the venue is not guaranteed by the ticket, so attendees are being encouraged to show up early to secure their spot inside.

That's not the only early gift Clarkson is giving her die-hards. She's also teamed with VH1 for what's described as an "extremely intimate concert" in New York on October 27 that will air as a special at a later date.

She'll also suit up for a set at the O Music Awards 2, where she will appear alongside such fellow presenters and performers as the Band Perry, Demi Lovato, Mac Miller, Midi Mafia and DJ Diamond Kuts.

Clarkson recently primed the pump for her return to the spotlight with the sexy, playful new video for "Mr. Know It All," the first single from the upcoming album. The Justin Frances-directed clip is a mixture of performance footage and sleek glamour shots of Clarkson, as well as the "Wall of Doubt," which features the occasionally negative headlines that have been written about the singer.

"There's different sides of me, and that whole outfit was more for all the freeing aspect," she explained of a scene in which she wears a massive ball gown. "Like, there's all these different sides of you, and that was the free-spirit side of me. That's one of my favorite shots in the video. It keeps coming back to my hair everywhere."

Tyler, The Creator Celebrates Nas' 20 Years In Rap

MTV News has an exclusive excerpt from a forthcoming XXL interview Tyler conducted with Nas.
By Rob Markman

Who knew that in 1991 when Nasty Nas appeared on Main Source's "Live at the Barbecue," the smart-alecky teenage lyricist who proclaimed that when he was 12 he "went to hell for snuffin' Jesus" would grow into one of rap's most respected artists? Twenty years later, Nas is preparing his 10th solo album and is still considered one of hip-hop's elite.

For the November issue (on stands October 25), XXL magazine is celebrating Nasir's storied run with a special interview in which Tyler, the Creator, a smart-alecky rookie who also famously rhymed about getting on Jesus' bad side, conducts a Q&A with the veteran Queens MC.

MTV News obtained an exclusive excerpt from the interview, wherein Tyler quizzes God's Son on his growth as an artist and riding go-karts.

Tyler, the Creator: Do you ever go go-karting or, like, to amusement parks or anything?

Nas: Nah, nah, nah.

Tyler: Go go-karting. It's fun as f---. I went last week. Sore as sh-- the next day. 'Cause then, if you go with your friends and sh--, it's like a competition on the low. Then y'all just be bumping into each other, like, "No, f--- that. I want to win." It's amazing.

Nas: Dude, maybe I should hang with you more.

Tyler: You should hang out with me for a day. We went egging the other night, and I hit this lady in the back of the head. And she like ... It's kind of f---ed up, but it was funny. Did you ever think, like... OK, you dropped Illmatic. How old were you? Like, 18?

Nas: When I started it, I was 18. I dropped it when I was 20.

Tyler: So you was my age when Illmatic came out?

Nas: Yeah. The first thing I did was "Live at the Barbecue." That was '91.

Tyler: So, right, when you was coming out, I wasn't even born yet, basically? I was born in 1991, so I was probably just popping out. Did you think, 20 years later, you would still be, like, here? Like, you're having a f---in' interview, about to do another magazine shoot. Like, did you think, 20 years from now, back then, that there was even a chance that you could still be doing that?

Nas: At that point, I only cared about making the biggest impact in rap. But I didn't care about 20 years from ... No, I got to say no. I didn't. I didn't really think that much on it. 'Cause at that time, dudes were peaking at, like, their fourth album, and that was it. Like, a lot of guys before us, they would, after their third or fourth album, that was it.

Tyler: They was done.

Nas: You know what I mean? So I didn't think I would be up to right here.

Tyler: That's 'cause you, Em, Jay, Snoop, like, you guys all started when you was exactly my age. So we could relate right then and there. But it's just weird that you guys — 'cause I even asked Snoop, and he was like, "I didn't even think that I could go this far with that." And the fact that you guys are still here makes me just always think, like, F---, could I?

Nas: Oh, you definitely can. People — someone like you is, you're interested, for a lot of reasons. So someone like you, you can't wait to see what's next. You can't wait to see how you're going to deal with what you've been experiencing now that you're in the rap game or in the music game. It's going to be great and exciting for you as you go along.

Tyler: This sh--'s crazy. I have, like, a goal list in my head, and it gets checked off, like, all the time. And it's just the weirdest sh--. This game is crazy. It'll drive you crazy, too.

Beyonce's 'Love On Top' Tease: Five Key Scenes

A nod to New Edition's classic boy band moves is just one of the reasons we can't wait for B's next clip.
By Rebecca Thomas

It's only been a week since Beyoncé dropped her frenetic "Countdown" video, but she's already gearing up to hit the eject button on another clip from her 4 album. Some fans got their first taste of "Love on Top" when B debuted it (along with that baby bump!) at the 2011 MTV VMAs. But while she gave the retro-leaning track the doo-wop treatment, sporting a sequined Dolce & Gabbana blazer at the show, she'll revisit another musical era for the video.

New Edition's '80s smash "If It Isn't Love" is the clear inspiration in the 82-second tease of Beyoncé's video. And although the superstar has been doing damage control over claims she referenced another artist's work too liberally in her "Countdown" clip, we only want to see more of how B recharged the Boston boy band's classic choreography.

Check out how the "Countdown" director dealt with B's "special arrival."

Check out our five favorite things from the wisp of a preview, and share yours in the comments section!

If It Isn't 'Love on Top'
N.E.'s 1988 hit from their album Heart Break is a crazy melodic uptempo ballad with singer Ralph Tresvant tackling the lead. In the super spare clip, casually dressed bandmates Tresvant, Ricky Bell, Ronnie DeVoe, Michael Bivins and — taking over for the newly solo Bobby Brown — Johnny Gill turn a dance rehearsal into a stage-worthy triumph. In the sneak peek, B is backed by five T-shirt-rocking male dancers who help her recreate the quintet's smokin' steps. Even her studio, with its multiple window views, looks like it was shot in the exact same spot.

All Hail, King B
While B's head gear may call to mind a certain Ugandan dictator among kids who paid attention in AP History, there's only one power this diva exercises in the land of Beyoncéstan: forcing you to dance.

If the Shoe Fits
Not even pregnancy can keep Beyoncé out of her towering Brian Atwoods. Still, after peeping her in '60s-style ballet flats in the "Countdown" visual, we were just gushing over how the singer paired black nylons and a bodysuit with sneakers. The Ash footwear line's white-soled Biba shoe, to be specific. A new look for B, and we like!

Brook Payne, Bring the Pain
B and her longtime choreographer Frank Gatson Jr. have traveled far and wide when it comes to seeking dance inspiration for her visuals. For "Run the World (Girls)," for instance, the pair famously sent a search team to Mozambique to track down the African Tofo Tofo dancers whose hard-to-replicate steps (captured in YouTube videos) had hypnotized them. But for "Top," B's team turns to the work of Brook Payne, veteran choreographer for New Edition. Payne makes a cameo and delivers the monologue at the top of the N.E. clip — maybe Gatson will too?

When we caught up with the re-formed, six-strong group at the Essence Festival in June, Bobby Brown spoke to MTV News about Payne's mastery and why that footwork has been so often imitated. "It's a lot of things that I'm capable of doing, but New Edition steps, whether you think so or not, they're probably one of the hardest things in dance that you could do," Brown said.

The Diva Fan
Ahh, the diva fan: From "Crazy in Love" to "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)," B seldom hits a video set without it, and it always blows to the left, to the left.

What are you hoping for from B's "Love on Top" video? Tell us in the comments!

'American Reunion' Trailer Offers New Slice Of 'Pie'

Red-band sneak peek shows Jason Bigg's character as older, but maybe not wiser.

Old habits die hard, and that's never been more apparent than in the brand-new red-band trailer for "American Reunion," the fourth "American Pie" movie centering on the original cast.

It's been 12 years since the first "Pie," and Jim (Jason Biggs) may have gotten married in the last movie, but he's still the same awkward, horny kid at heart. And as you'll see in the trailer, the same goes for his wife, Michelle (Alyson Hannigan).

The new movie follows the gang as they prepare for the East Great Falls class reunion. But what makes the get-together truly special is that this is the first time since "American Pie 2" that the entire cast is back together onscreen. When we say the entire cast, we mean the entire cast. The movie brings back many of the memorable smaller roles from the series, including the Shermanator, Stifler's mom and even John Cho as MILF Guy #2.

The trailer doesn't show much in the way of the story, but it has one big surprise built in that should set off the good old "American Pie" cringe. No matter how much things have changed, it looks like for Jim, they're exactly the same.

"American Reunion" hits theaters April 6 and stars Biggs, Hannigan, Seann William Scott, Mena Suvari, Shannon Elizabeth, Tara Reid, Chris Klein, Thomas Ian Nicholas and Eddie Kaye Thomas.

Scarlett Johansson Nude Photo Hacker Arrested

The 35-year-old Florida native faces up to 121 years in prison for numerous charges including identity theft.

One month after leaked nude photos of Scarlett Johansson hit the Internet, the man who hacked the starlet has been arrested. CNN.com reported that Florida native Christopher Chaney was taken into custody after it was discovered by authorities that he had gained access to the accounts of more than 50 people including Johansson, Mila Kunis and Christina Aguilera.

The 35-year-old from Jacksonville was apprehended by the FBI on Wednesday and indicted on charges of accessing protected computers without authorization, damaging protected computers, wiretapping and aggravated identity theft.

Officials confirm that the Johansson nude photos were part of their investigation. "Unfortunately, [the suspect] was able to access nude photos of some of the celebrities and some of them were uploaded on the Internet," U.S. Attorney Andre Birotte Jr. said, adding that Chaney allegedly "also took financial information, movie scripts and conversations that the celebrities believed to be private."

The hacker allegedly monitored social media sites the celebrities used to gain access to their passwords. He then would use public sources to scout the data he was looking for. From there, he would use contact lists of the email addresses to which he gained access to find the email addresses of other celebrities, thereby making them victims of hacking too. He also allegedly had emails automatically forwarded to him so he could continue to receive victims' emails if the account holders changed their passwords.

"You may have selected a password that's meaningful to you that you may disclose online with friends," assistant director in charge of the FBI's Los Angeles field office Steven Martinez said. "Your pet's name or whatever. That's a clue to a hacker, to start there."

Cheney was released on $10,000 bail on Wednesday and was ordered not to use any devices with Internet access or be around alcohol or other controlled substances. His next court appearance is on Friday. If convicted of the 26 counts, he faces up to 121 years in prison.

Johansson opened up to CNN about the stolen photos, which were removed from the website that originally posted them, late last month. "Just because you're an actor or make films or whatever doesn't mean you're not entitled to your own personal privacy," she said. "If that is sieged in some way, it feels unjust. It feels wrong."
