Jay-Z Calls Back-And-Forth With Lil Wayne 'Just Sport'

NEW YORKJay-Z has a lot going on right now. The rap mogul is expecting his first child with his wife Beyoncé, getting ready for his NBA Nets' move to a brand-new stadium in his hometown of Brooklyn and his Roc Nation artist J. Cole is expected to debut at #1 on the Billboard albums chart this week.

MTV News caught up with Jay on the red carpet of his Shawn Carter Foundation's Making the Ordinary Extraordinary carnival-themed fundraiser last Thursday — see what we mean by busy? — but we had to ask him about a topic that was probably much less pressing, yet still important to fans. What exactly is going on between him and Lil Wayne?

Last month, Wayne's song "It's Good" leaked days before the release of his Carter IV album, and the Cash Money MC seemed to have a few choice words for Jay and his lady on the track.

"Talkin' bout Baby money? I got your baby money/ Kidnap your bitch, get that how-much-you-love-your-lady money," Wayne spits on the song. To many, it was a direct response to Jay's supposed jab at Young Money's head honcho and his adoptive "father," Bryan "Baby" Williams, on "H.A.M."

On the Watch the Throne track, Jay raps, "I'm like, 'Really, half-a-billi?' N---a, really, you got Baby money/ Keep it real with n---as, n---as ain't got my lady money."

Wayne recently downplayed talk of a feud between the rappers in a Vibe magazine cover story, saying music isn't about competition anymore, and adding that he didn't think there would be any repercussions as a result of his song. "Every man should know the repercussions and consequences behind whatever they do before they do it. And of course, I know there won't be any repercussions behind what I did."

Jay-Z told us he didn't want to dwell on the topic, especially considering the education fundraiser was about a positive cause. But he didn't have much to say about Wayne's "It's Good," other than that it was to be expected in hip-hop.

"That's sport, that's rap music," Jay said. "Nothing is going to change but the participants. I don't even see why that's news."

Joseph Gordon-Levitt Calls Lack Of '50/50' Kiss 'Horrible'

"It's a travesty," actor jokes to MTV News about not locking lips with Anna Kendrick in the film.

Over the weekend, audiences laughed (and cried) along with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen in the heartfelt comedy "50/50," loosely based on writer Will Reiser's real-life battle with cancer. (Spoilers ahead!)

Gordon-Levitt's thoughtful portrayal of 27-year-old cancer patient Adam takes him on a journey from diagnosis to recovery, breaking up with girlfriend Rachael (Bryce Dallas Howard) and sparking a new relationship with therapist-in-training Katherine (Anna Kendrick) along the way. The budding romance is only teased, however, as the two never seal the deal with a kiss. It was a purposeful omission, the film's writer and stars said at the "50/50" premiere last week in New York.

"We very much resisted them kissing," Reiser told MTV News. "The movie is not a love story. It's about a guy's battle with cancer. If it turned into a love story at the end, we would be betraying what the movie is about. That kiss is the start of another movie."

Kendrick, in fact, was relieved she didn't have to smooch Gordon-Levitt, as they'd become good friends after weeks of filming together.

"The studio wanted to see us kiss at the end, actually. We were thinking about just trying it as an option," she explained. "Joe very wisely stood up and said, 'If we give it to them as an option, they will use it.' So we just decided not to do it, because it really just didn't feel right. And I was relieved, because I had known Joe for too long at that point. It's too weird once you think of someone as a friend to be like, 'OK, I guess we make out now?' "

But Kendrick probably shouldn't share that sentiment with Gordon-Levitt, because as he told it, he was pretty bummed he didn't get to kiss his leading lady. "It's a travesty," he said with a big grin. "It's a horrible injustice, and I'm writing a letter."

For Demi Lovato's third studio album, Unbroken, she wanted to show fans that not only had she come back from a tough year, but she was feeling and sounding better than ever.

Lovato returned to the music scene by giving her pop sound more of an R&B flair, teaming up with acts like Timbaland and Missy Elliott, and getting a hand from pop/R&B star Jason Derülo.

Lovato and Derülo's midtempo ballad delivers an inspirational message about how we can change the world if we come together. When MTV News caught up with Derülo — whose sophomore album, Future History, dropped on Tuesday — he told us it was all about being in the right place at the right time for their collaboration.

"The song is called 'Together' and I just really just happened to be in Miami," Derülo said. "I'm very rarely in Miami and I live in Miami, but before the time I was there, I was there like six months prior and then I haven't been there for a long, long time. But I guess they knew that I lived in Miami. A mutual friend called me and was like, 'Hey, we're at the studio, Demi wanted to get in with you if you were around.' "

Luckily, Derülo was in MIA and dropped everything to record with Demi — even if it was in the middle of the night.

"I came down to visit my grandfather for a day, so I went in at like 3 a.m. and we knocked it out," Derülo recalled. "We were there till about 9 in the morning, but it was really cool."

'Footloose,' 'Ides Of March' Lead October Movies

We're also looking forward to 'Three Musketeers,' 'In Time' and 'Like Crazy' this month.

As we while away the remaining days of September, there is a lot more than Halloween candy to look forward to in the month of October. We're talking about October movies, of course, when studios begin unveiling their heavy-hitting award contenders, as well as a few fun, fall-themed crowd-pleasers. In order of their release dates, here are a few of the films we're most looking forward to seeing on the big screen in October:

October 7
"The Ides of March": Really, what's not to like about this movie? You have George Clooney as director and star, alongside 2011 "it" guy Ryan Gosling in a film about corruption in politics. It's timely, smart and in addition to featuring two handsome leading men, boasts a very talented supporting cast in Philip Seymour Hoffman, Evan Rachel Wood and Marisa Tomei.

"Real Steel": When this movie was announced, we were right there with all the naysayers, scratching our heads and wondering how a major studio would make a "robot boxing movie" worth watching. Much to our surprise, the early buzz on the film is really good, from some of the crankiest critics out there, and its selling point seems to be the father/son relationship between Hugh Jackman and newcomer Dakota Goyo. Consider us intrigued.

October 14
"Footloose": This is not a future Oscar-winner, naturally, but if you have any affection for movies with a lot of dancing and teenage angst or grew up with the Kevin Bacon-starring original, the remake of "Footloose" is a lot of fun. Lead actor Kenny Wormald has come a long way from his newbie actor days in "You Got Served" and "Center Stage: Turn It Up" to become a believable leading man. And his dancing is terrific. Serious triple-threat Julianne Hough is fun to watch as well, but pay special attention to charming scene-stealer Miles Teller as adorable country bumpkin Willard.

October 21
"The Three Musketeers": While Paul W.S. Anderson is not particularly well-known for the complexities in his storytelling, his films are always wonderfully visual and action-packed. With his retelling of Alexandre Dumas' "The Three Musketeers," Anderson is working with a classic story of good vs. evil, along with the added appeal of swordfights and swashbuckling. Add to that the appealing castmembers -- Logan Lerman, Milla Jovovich, Orlando Bloom, Luke Evans, Matthew Macfadyen and Ray Stevenson -- and you have the makings of an entertaining popcorn flick.

Honorable mention: "Paranormal Activity 3," because while this writer is a total scaredy cat and too afraid of this franchise to watch it, plenty of other filmgoers are psyched for this third installment, directed by "Catfish" helmers Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman.

October 28
"In Time: Even though we would prefer this date to mark the release of a new album from Justin Timberlake, the premise of the futuristic society living with a fountain of youth is enough to get us into the theater. And in addition to seeing Timberlake in action -- he runs a lot in the film -- a bunch of easy-on-the-eyes actors are in the cast, including Amanda Seyfried, Olivia Wilde, Alex Pettyfer and Matt Bomer.

"Like Crazy": For those who love a weepy romance, "Like Crazy" has you covered. This year's Sundance Grand Jury Prize winner is about college sweethearts who are torn apart by deportation and features two buzz worthy performances by Anton Yelchin and newcomer Felicity Jones. Director Drake Doremus has promised a genuine, authentic love story that has the hopeless romantics among us ready to stuff our pockets with extra tissues for opening day.

Honorable mention: "The Rum Diary," because it stars a relatively normal-looking Johnny Depp and Aaron Eckhart and is based on Hunter S. Thompson's "lost" novel written in the early '60s but not published until 1998.

Which October movies are you most looking forward to? Let us know in the comments!
