Britney Spears Vs. The Paparazzi: Best Music-Video Moments

Brit's 'I Wanna Go' video is hardly the first time she's taken aim at the prying tabloid media.

Britney Spears is taking a stand against the paparazzi in the music video for her new single "I Wanna Go," which premiered online Wednesday morning (June 22). In the Chris Marrs Piliero-directed clip she slings a microphone their way, knocking them off their perch. But it's hardly the first time Spears has taken a tongue-in-cheek approach to making a statement about the tabloid media.

In fact, since early on in her career, Spears has examined her love-hate affair with the prying lens of the paparazzi. After bursting on the pop scene in the late 1990s with a naughty girl-next-door image that made her a star, Spears learned that fame would come with lots of attention from the press. And, as in "I Wanna Go," she has made it a point to play with that relationship in her videos. Here, we look back on a few of our favorites.

"Lucky"
Britney first gave fans some insight into her celebrity life in this video, dating back to 2000 and released on her second smash album, Oops! ... I Did It Again. In the candy-colored, Dave Meyers-directed video, Spears plays a melancholy movie star who wants nothing more than to have a little fun.

"Overprotected"
A year after the "Lucky" video, Spears busted loose in this video from her Britney album. After breaking free from her hotel room, which is being watched by then real-life bodyguard Big Rob (that's right, the Jonas Brothers' Big Rob), she dances in the rain and her hotel lobby and then throws one big party for her girls in a large limo.

"Everytime"
She shows the darker side of fame in the video for "Everytime." By the time 2004 rolled around, Spears was not only In the Zone, she was frequently in the gossip pages. Her personal life was gossip fodder and in the clip, Spears plays a pop star whose public fight with her beau (played by Stephen Dorff) gets the paparazzi worked up, leading to an injury that may or may not bring about her untimely end.

"Piece of Me"
Spears had more fun in 2007 on the Blackout single "Piece of Me." Released during a transitional time in both her personal and professional life, Spears poked fun at herself, dancing around a nightclub's bathroom as magazine headlines about the pop star flash across the screen.

"If U Seek Amy"
The video for this 2009 single played up the song's controversial title (say it slowly, really slowly) using faux news briefs. Released on her Circus album, the clip for "If U Seek Amy" played up Spears' many sides: from good-natured mom to sexy party girl.

"Hold It Against Me"
This was Britney doing the thinking man's take on the media. Directed by Jonas Åkerlund, "Hold It Against Me" tells the story of a super-creature from space that uses song and dance to win the hearts of earthlings. Eventually, the public scrutiny becomes too much for Spears' creature and she breaks down, only to rise again like a pop-music phoenix. Sound familiar?

'Weird Al' Yankovic: Return Of The King

With his new Alpocalypse album in stores, Bigger Than the Sound pays tribute to the King of the Pop Parody.
By James Montgomery

I often tell people the first cassette I bought with my own money was the Beastie Boys' License to Ill. This is, of course, a lie: It was actually "Weird Al" Yankovic's 1986 album Polka Party!, which featured classics like "Living With a Hernia," "Addicted to Spuds" and "Toothless People," a send-up of Mick Jagger's "Ruthless People" that Wikipedia rather fastidiously describes as "a song that focuses around elderly people who are missing their teeth."

You can probably understand the reason I've lied about it for all these years — Weird Al has never exactly been the coolest guy in the world, after all — but since I'm coming clean now, I'd also like to admit that the second and third cassettes I ever bought were Yankovic's, too: his self-titled 1983 debut (I'd spend hours studying its illustrated cover, mostly because I didn't have many friends) and the follow-up, In 3-D, which won Al a Grammy for his food-centric take on Michael Jackson's "Beat It," a song called, appropriately enough, "Eat It."

Shoot, eventually, I owned all the early Al cassettes: Dare to Be Stupid, Even Worse (I remember recording the video for "Fat" off this very channel), the "UHF" soundtrack. I used to carry them around in one of those little suitcases and listen to them on my Walkman during family vacations (they definitely made the trip to Boca Raton that one year). My parents were probably worried about me. And if they weren't, well, they probably should have been.

Of course, as is the case with most things, I eventually grew out of my Weird Al phase. The last album of his I ever bought was 1992's Off the Deep End (the one with "Smells Like Nirvana" on it), and truth be told, I haven't listened to a single thing he's done since, aside from the occasional single ("Amish Paradise," "White & Nerdy") that somehow managed to perforate the pop-culture membrane. Instead, I slowly became obsessed with so-called real music — bands like Nirvana and the Breeders, Tortoise and Pavement, Built to Spill and Modest Mouse. I've continued down that path ever since, which is why I'm supposed to be obsessed with the new Bon Iver album (which, thanks to songs like "Beth/Rest," is sort of like a Weird Al record, really), even though I'm really not.

Since we parted ways, Al has released six full-length albums, the most recent of which (Alpocalypse) hit stores on Tuesday (June 21). I haven't heard it, even though I've been told most of the songs have been floating around online for months. Chances are, you haven't either, though perhaps you have heard the Lady Gaga parody and seen the accompanying music video. The latter is not terribly great, mostly because the CGI makes it feel almost un-Al, but still, I suppose that doesn't really matter much. If Weird Al is anything, he's critic-proof.

But in the days since the Alpocalypse, I've found myself thinking back to the days when Yankovic was my favorite artist, and I've realized something rather fascinating: Basically everything I know about popular music, I learned from Weird Al. This was mainly because, as an 8-year-old, I didn't view songs like "The Brady Bunch," "The King of Suede" or "I Want a New Duck" as parodies of popular hits, mostly because I had never heard the originals. I wasn't smart enough to pick up the nods to bands like Devo and Oingo Boingo on tracks like "Dare to Be Stupid" and "You Make Me," because, you know, I was 8. I certainly didn't get the joke behind "(This Song's Just) Six Words Long," because vapidity wasn't a concept I was familiar with. Shoot, the first time I heard some of the Rolling Stones' best cuts was when Al covered them on "The Hot Rocks Polka."

In short, almost all of his songs were originals to me. They're how I learned about stuff like verse-chorus structure and solos and synthesizers. They're probably why I'd go on to appreciate the slightly skewed work of Beck and Ween (and they're definitely why I love "Your Party" as much as I do). And if you want to dig even deeper, Yankovic's parodies are about the earliest example of the so-called "DIY" aesthetic I ever knew; they're practically punk rock, inasmuch as they represent Al shooting down some of the era's most Sacred Cows, and doing it on his own terms, repercussions be damned.

So, yes, in a lot of ways, I owe everything to "Weird Al" Yankovic. And while I can certainly laud him as the king of the song parody, or point out the fact that he basically laid the groundwork for everything the Lonely Island guys (and 95 percent of the Internet) do these days, I think the most fitting tribute to his greatness is to simply say that without him, I'd probably be working in a bank somewhere. His albums made me love popular music, and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who can make that claim. I may not listen to him anymore, but I'll remain forever loyal. Long live the king.

'Footloose' Star Kenny Wormald Reveals Secrets Behind Exclusive Trailer

'I was blown away,' actor tells MTV News of seeing footage for the first time.

"Footloose" star Kenny Wormald sidled up to his computer, hit play on the trailer for his remake of the classic 1984 flick and quickly realized he'd made a big blunder.

"I watched it alone in my house, and that was a mistake, because I thought I was going to scream!" the dancer-turned-actor told MTV News. "I was blown away."

By now, though the 26-year-old has had time to settle down, he's no less pumped about the film, which hits theaters on October 14 and which he calls "all new, but it also pays homage to the original." To celebrate our debut of the trailer, Wormald gave us a call and revealed some secrets behind the new footage.

Backflips and Angry Dances
The most iconic scene in the original flick features a young Kevin Bacon going wild in a warehouse, dancing and flipping like he's trying to win an Olympic gold medal in gymnastics. The new movie, as the trailer hints, re-creates that scene. Wormald himself busted out the great majority of those moves but had to make way for the experts from time to time.

"We called it the angry dance," he explained. "There's some crazy stuff going on in that scene — some gymnastic stuff that is a little bit from the original and they wouldn't let me do some of it. It's just when it comes to the death-defying stunts — flips and stuff — that's not me. They were like, 'I don't think so. Sit down, Kenny!' "

Wormald again had to step away from the cameras when it came to a perilous backflip seen early in the trailer. "All of the dancing is me," he said. "But that flip isn't me — but don't tell anyone!"

The Exploding Bus
Late in the trailer, we get a glimpse of Wormald racing a bus, followed quickly by a gnarly explosion. Turns out, that scene is an action-movie tweak to the original's tractor chicken race.

"They made it really climactic," Wormald said of the original scene. "But if you think about it, tractors only go five miles per hour. So I think [director] Craig Brewer wanted a more badass version of the chicken race."

The Boston Accent
Bacon's character hails from Chicago — a northern boy who moves into a southern town and brings an urge to boogie with him. But from the minute Wormald opens his mouth in the new trailer, we can tell he's not from Chicago. Instead, he speaks with a thick accent, one not originally part of the script but which the Boston-born actor introduced to the project.

"They went into casting thinking it would be the same [as the original]. But when I went in there, I wanted to be different than the other guys. I knew it was a kid from up north going down south, so I made a decision to use my Boston accent in the audition," Wormald told us. "As I kept getting closer and closer to booking it, they never said don't use the accent. And then I booked it and they said, 'We're going to change it from Chicago to Boston.' They dug it."

'Jackass' Star Ryan Dunn Autopsy Released

Police estimate Dunn's car was going 130 mph when he crashed.

The initial autopsy of "Jackass" star Ryan Dunn and the passenger killed in an early-morning wreck in rural Pennsylvania on Monday revealed that the two died from blunt-force trauma and the fire that consumed Dunn's vehicle.

According to the Chester County Coroner, Dunn and 30-year-old Zachary Hartwell were both dead before police arrived at the scene of the accident, which occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Monday in West Goshen Township, when the amateur daredevil's 2007 Porsche 911 GT3 swerved off the road and flew through 40 yards of trees before hitting one and bursting into flames.

Relive Ryan Dunn's best stunts on "Jackass."

West Goshen Police Chief Michael Carroll told Radar Online that an accident-reconstruction team was able to determine that the Porsche was traveling at a very high rate of speed — almost 130 mph — when it collided with a guardrail.

"I've never seen a car destroyed in an automobile accident the way this car was, even before it caught on fire," Carroll said. "The automobile actually came apart. It was unbelievable and I've been on a lot of fatal accident scenes. This was by far the worst I've ever seen."

TMZ reported that, based on the autopsy results, "It seems it was impossible to determine if the two died from the impact of the crash itself or from the fire that resulted."

The coroner also told the site that toxicology results for both men — which would help determine whether alcohol was involved in the crash — would be released in four to six weeks. In the hours before the crash, Dunn was photographed drinking at Barnaby's of America, a bar in West Chester, Pennsylvania, leading some to speculate that he was drunk before the accident occurred. But an employee of the bar told MTV News that he "didn't seem intoxicated."

"He seemed like he was having a good time, hanging out with friends," the employee said. "[He] only had a couple beers here. As far as we're concerned, the biggest thing, our hearts go out to the family and friends, and his loss is a big loss to our community. The biggest thing we're worried about is his friends and family."

James 'Jimmy Henchman' Rosemond Arrested By Feds

DEA confirms to MTV News that Czar Entertainment honcho was apprehended and arraigned on drug charges in New York City.
By Rob Markman

The manhunt for hip-hop music executive James "Jimmy Henchman" Rosemond ended Tuesday afternoon (June 21), the DEA confirmed to MTV News. Henchman, who ran the Czar Entertainment management company overseeing the careers of artists like the Game, was arrested in New York City and charged with heading a cocaine trafficking ring.

Rosemond has been on the lam since warrants were issued for his arrest on May 17. On Tuesday afternoon, the onetime music manager noticed federal agents as he walked out of the W Hotel in Union Square, according to the New York Post. Henchman tried to evade US Marshals and DEA agents by taking off on foot, but was apprehended and arrested on 21st Street and Park Avenue South.

Rosemond was then arraigned in Brooklyn on conspiracy to distribute in excess of five kilograms of cocaine; he is being held without bail, a DEA representative told MTV News.

According to Rosemond's lawyer, Jeffery Lichtman, Henchman and his defense team are ready. "These charges obviously aren't surprising, we've been anticipating them for years now," Lichtman told MTV News on Tuesday. "But they're built on the backs of people that have lied and cheated, have been threatened, have been bribed by the government," he added. "Anything to get Jimmy Rosemond, but all of this is going to be exposed. We've been waiting a long time for our day in court — we finally have it."

Through the DEA, MTV News has obtained a copy of the complaint and affidavit stemming from Rosemond's arrest warrant. In it, there are details of Henchman's alleged drug ring, which is said to have shipped cocaine under accounts belonging to Czar Entertainment from California to New York in "road cases" typically used to transport musical equipment. Vacuum-sealed bags and mustard were also used to conceal the smell from drug-sniffing dogs.

Two "high-ranking members" of Rosemond's alleged organization (referred to in the complaint as "CW-1" and "CW-2") helped the DEA in their investigation. The document does confirm that both men agreed to cooperate with the government after their respective arrests in the "hope of receiving a reduced sentence."

It is also noted in the complaint that while on the run, Henchman avoided the use of cell phones and suggested to one of the members of his organization that he should go into hiding. "N----r stay low, move like you on the run right now 'cause that is what I'm doing n----r, trying to get some ID, some new paperwork, all that sh-- right now," Rosemond said during a telephone conversation recorded by agents.

Dexter Isaac, who is believed to be cooperating with the government in its case against Henchman, told AllHipHop.com that he was paid $2,500 by Rosemond to rob Tupac Shakur at Quad Studios in a November 1994 incident that resulted in the near-fatal shooting of the rapper, two years before his death in 1996. Lichtman told the New York Daily News that Isaac's claim was a "flat-out lie."

"When you got witnesses like that against you, it can make anybody paranoid and believe that they won't be getting a fair trial," Lichtman said about his client. "When the case starts, we'll be ready to go."

Harry Potter, Severus Snape Soar In Early World Cup Voting

Posted: 20 Jun 2011 11:26 PM PDT

Hermione Granger is also dominating in the first round of the MTV News tournament.
By Eric Ditzian

Don't pooh-pooh Filius Flitwick! That's just one of the lessons coming into focus little more than 24 hours into the epic showdown we call the "Harry Potter" World Cup.

Though the diminutive master of Charms nabbed just a 10 seed in our monthlong tournament, in which fans have been voting online to choose the greatest character in the fantasy franchise, Professor Flitwick has raced out to a commanding first-round lead over his fellow Hogwarts colleague, and number-seven seed, Sybill Trelawney. But voting in the initial round doesn't close until midnight on Monday, meaning there's more than enough time for Trelawney fans to divine a whole lot of votes in her honor.

Other contests seem less prone to an upset. Honestly, what are the chances Harry Potter himself, facing off against Dark Arts devotee Quirinus Quirrell, gets an unexpected first-round ouster from the World Cup? As of this writing, the boy wizard has wrangled more than 95 percent of the vote. His pal Hermione Granger, meanwhile, has garnered more than 98 percent of the vote in her battle with often-salacious journalist Rita Skeeter.

See photos of all of the "Potter" World Cup players.

But that was all to be expected. Early voting has also shown us some characters that could become Cinderella stories. Dobby the House Elf, the adorable rascal who made the ultimate sacrifice to save Harry and company, shot out to a maybe-we-should-call-it-now lead over Gryffindor half-blood Dean Thomas. Maybe now it's time for Dobby, who's always been the servant until now, to lead a fan-supported charge. Yet the floppy-eared elf could well run up against Severus Snape, who himself is dominating a first-round matchup with Death Eater spawn Vincent Crabbe, in the Sweet 16.

Snape, as "Potter" buffs know, has one of the most complex and satisfying character arcs in the entire series. Only Dobby, we presume, stands between him and an Elite Eight showdown with Harry. That's the main action in the Privet Drive quadrant of the bracket. Over in Godric's Hollow, while Hermione is busy wiping the floor with Rita, the phoenix Fawkes is straight up embarrassing poor Nearly Headless Nick. But voting in Albus Dumbledore's game hasn't even started. If you ask us, anyone who thinks someone like Dark Arts defender Remus Lupin is going to stand in the way of a Hermione vs. Dumbledore Elite Eight face off is crazy.

See the full bracket and vote!

Things haven't even gotten started on the other side of the bracket. There's a whole lot of Weasley brawling going on in the Hogsmeade section, not only with Ron securing the top seed but with Arthur cruelly conjuring up a war with his son Percy. But all that may become background noise once Cedric Diggory (memorably, if briefly, portrayed onscreen by one Robert Pattinson) gets in on the action. Even Ron Weasley, he who won the heart of Hermione, might not be able to take down the "Twilight" heartthrob. Voting kicks off Wednesday.

And then in Diagon Alley, we find perhaps the tournament's most competitive corner. Count 'em off: Lord Voldemort, Draco Malfoy (whose Tom Felton has collected two straight MTV Movie Award Best Villain wins), Sirius Black and his murderer, Bellatrix Lestrange. About the only thing we can predict at this point is that Lord V is going to freaking destroy Moaning Myrtle, who might need a new nickname soon. Voting in these matches begins on Thursday.

Who is the best "Harry Potter" character of all time? The "Harry Potter" World Cup will find out! Voting is going on now over on the MTV Movies Blog, and you can also get the debate going on Twitter with the hashtag #mtvpottercup.

Ryan Dunn's 'Jackass' TV Stunts: A Retrospective

Posted: 20 Jun 2011 11:02 PM PDT

From sewage-diving to corn-sledding, the late star's antics were sure to make viewers laugh and gasp.
By Gil Kaufman

He was one of the less outspoken members of the "Jackass" crew, but late, bearded prankster Ryan Dunn made up in destruction and indelible stunts what he lacked in loudmouth bravado. The 34-year-old skateboarder, who died in an early morning car crash on Monday in Pennsylvania, stood his ground alongside such fellow daredevils as Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera and Steve-O in the "Jackass" TV show and movies, as well as on his 2005 MTV anti-home-improvement show "Homewreckers," the Margera-led spin-offs "Viva La Bam" and "Bam's Unholy Union," and his recently launched G4 show, "Proving Ground."

While some of the "Jackass" crew were known for placing themselves in front of paintball firing squads, walking on giant stilts off diving platforms or staging elaborate pranks on passersby, Dunn's "specialty" was riding BMX bikes into muddy creeks, getting slathered with nasty fish and human excrement and being dragged behind four-wheelers on all the wrong sleds.

In memory of Dunn, we decided to take a look back at some of his most memorable TV moments. (Head over to the Movies Blog for highlights from Dunn's "Jackass" movie career.)

"Poo Dive"
When MTV News sat down with the crew last fall, the "Jackass" stars agreed that one of their all-time favorite stunts was Dunn's first one for the original TV show, in which he dove into a tank of sewage.

"I loved when [Bam Margera] made Ryan jump into the poo factory, the 'Poo Dive' I think we called it," creator Jeff Tremaine said. " 'Cause that was horrible, but the best part was ... revealing his tattoos that we didn't know about. That was the first time we ever met Ryan." Dunn made his infamous dive while wearing just tighty whities that were duct taped onto his body and a snorkel. Though pal Bam Margera was grossed out by the floaters, Dunn called the dive, "exhilarating ... my skin is silky smooth!"

"Fisherman's Wharf"
"Why do I always do the jobs that make me smell real bad?" Dunn lamented as he agreed to dive into 32-degree water in San Francisco. After being tossed into a giant vat of sardines while wearing a black peacoat and fisherman's cap, Dunn emerged covered in slime, only to sit in an empty tank and get covered in sardine juice and a torrent of tiny fish.

"Snake River BMX"
Among Ryan's best bike gags on "Jackass" was the one when he tried to ride a crappy banana-seat bike up a ramshackle ramp and over a freezing, boggy creek. He never got close to hitting the landing ramp on the other side and eventually the cops arrived to break up the party.

"Corn Sledding"
Ryan looked supremely confident as he was pulled by a four-wheeler on a plastic sled through a cornfield at high speeds on "Jackass." He was impressively able to hang on for long periods and even got a bit patriotic when he was handed an American flag to wave on his ride. He finally bailed after being pulled over a hill and smashing his tailbone.

"Ice Barrel Jumping"
Dunn donned a blue unitard and matching crash helmet for a "Jackass"-staged barrel jumping competition against Big Brother magazine editor in chief Dave Carnie. He made it pretty easily over two barrels but got racked hard when the tally was upped to five. While Carnie easily cleared the hurdles, Dunn repeatedly landed on the cold, hard ice, eventually getting smashed over the head with a metal pail by Carnie.

"Office Chairs"
Wearing his best regular-guy drag (a lame suit and tie and nerdy eyeglasses), Dunn rode an office chair down a skate ramp in a joust with fellow "Jackass" and CKY regular Brandon DiCamillo. The pals smashed into each other in spectacular fashion over and over. Dunn later tried the trick while sitting behind a desk complete with computer and monitor.

"Hot Dog BMX"
Again taking his chances on a skate ramp, Dunn donned a hot dog suit and rode his BMX bike down into a spectacular crash. In true "Jackass" fashion, as he lays prone, a crew member runs up and squirts mustard in his mouth and all over his face.

Will 50 Cent Leave Interscope After Next Album?

Posted: 21 Jun 2011 12:42 AM PDT

'It will all be clear in the negotiations following me turning this actual album in,' Fif tells MTV News.
By Rob Markman

After selling millions of records with Interscope, will 50 Cent be looking to jump ship? Anything is possible as the G-Unit head honcho prepares his fifth and final contracted album on the powerhouse label.

"I don't know," 50 told MTV News when asked if he would ink back with Interscope once his five-album deal was fulfilled. "It will all be clear in the negotiations following me turning this actual album in. And, of course, the performance and how they actually treat the work will determine whether you still want to stay in that position or not."

Last week, on June 16, Fif took his label to task via Twitter when he fired off, "I'm sorry to announce I will not be releasing a new album this year if we don't get on the same page." Soon after, he tweeted: "My whole career iv been doing sh-- and they have been playing catch up this is the last f---ing album THEY BETTER WAKE UP AND WORK."

Feeling he could no longer wait on the label and that he had to take matters into his own hands, the rapper then went on to release his new street single "Outlaw" later that evening.

"It's not necessarily [Dr.] Dre or [chairman] Jimmy [Iovine]; it's more the guys that they pass the responsibilities on to," 50 told MTV News the next day. "It takes longer for people, because they'll be like, 'OK, we're gonna do this and we're gonna do that,' and the building will start having those conversations, but they're not actually moving at that point.

"They're behind it, but to get everybody moving at the same beat and moving at the same pace is the object," he added. "That was what the goal was even writing that statement and releasing the song."

It's obvious that for 50, there is a lot riding on this project. He isn't opposed to re-signing with the record company helmed by Iovine, but he also isn't opposed to walking away and going independent either. For the Southside Jamaica, Queens, MC, the label support for his upcoming LP will determine his next move.

"It's not like you're gonna be able to make a project bigger than the actual project is, but if the songs are right and you have full support and you feel that support, why would you want to go anywhere else?" he said. "If not, if you don't have that support, why would you want to sign to another system? In the financial state that I'm in, you just do it yourself."

In 2010, 50 took his artist Lloyd Banks and signed him to EMI Records, where he structured the deal to operate much like an independent. Banks' The Hunger for More album has already produced five singles and created a presence for the Queens rapper among his contemporaries. "You've seen the success of Lloyd Banks' project with me being behind him financially," 50 said. "You can't tell the difference between him and other artists that are on major record companies."

Do you think 50 should stick with Interscope or go indie? Share your thoughts in the comments!

Cameron Diaz Says Playing Crappy 'Bad Teacher' Was Refreshing

Posted: 21 Jun 2011 02:50 AM PDT

Actress jokes to MTV News that her gold-digging character has absolutely 'no redeeming qualities.'
By Eric Ditzian

Cameron Diaz in "Bad Teacher"
Photo: Gemma LaMana

It's almost a Hollywood storytelling imperative: Make your main character likeable. Even if he or she starts off as the most loathsome of humans, be sure by the time the credits roll that your protagonist learns a lesson and reveals a more attractive personality.

Not so in "Bad Teacher," the June 24 comedy in which Cameron Diaz's couldn't-give-a-hoot educator — she routinely sleeps through class and lights up a joint afterward — remains largely unchanged. And it was the character's essentially static arc, Diaz told us recently, that attracted her to the movie, even if she initially thought she wanted nothing to do with it.

"The first 30 pages, I'm like, 'I am not playing this. There is no way I can play this character. There [are] no redeeming qualities to this character,' " she recalled of the script. "And by the end of it, I'm like, 'Oh my god, this is genius! There's no redeeming qualities to this character!' We got to the end of the script and we're not apologizing for anything she said. It's a very modest arc."

See, the teacher she plays, Elizabeth Halsey, begins the film with one goal in life: to put her bank account above love and marry a dude she honestly has no respect for but who can buy her a slick sports car without blinking an eye. Quickly, though, the guy ditches her, and she sets her mind to roping in a new rich boy, a substitute teacher played by Justin Timberlake.

A hefty heap of pot, some unscrupulous test-taking techniques and a whole lot of other bad behavior later, Halsey's plans pan out in a very unexpected manner. But by film's end, one thing remains hilariously the same: She's still kind of a crappy teacher.

"It's amazing that it exists in this movie because it is so rare," Diaz laughed. "I'm thrilled because it is so refreshing."

Check out everything we've got on "Bad Teacher."

Mixtape: Royal Flush 2

Key Cameo: "Woopty Doo" (featuring Big Sean)

Real Spit: It's been quite a ride for CyHi the Prynce. After already receiving a co-sign from Akon and signing to his Konvict Music label, the Atlanta MC then linked with Kanye West and inked with G.O.O.D. Music in 2010. He's already appeared on a number of tracks with the Louis Vuitton Don, most notably "So Appalled" from 'Ye's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Still, CyHi is not resting on his laurels. Instead, while beginning work on his debut, The Hardway Musical, he has released his fifth mixtape Royal Flush 2.

"Royal Flush 2 will be an emotion picture — not a motion picture, an emotion picture," CyHi told Mixtape Daily.

Instead of features, the rapper refers to the tape's guest artists as actors. Regardless of how they are labeled, Trey Songz, Big Sean, Yelawolf, Pusha T and Tity Boi all contribute. The first Royal Flush, which was released in October 2010, helped established Prynce as one of the game's top prospects, but the two volumes are like night and day.

"It's summertime music. The first one, it was more wintertime," he said of the comparison. "This one is more drop the top, feel good, bass in the trunk at some times. It's got a lot of hip-hop on there. It's a tearjerker, it's a drama, it's an action."

The Trey Songz-assisted "New Girl" is a breezy affair. On it, CyHi serenades a new love over a sunny, piano-laden track. "Woopty Doo" featuring Big Sean is produced by No I.D. and Kanye West and goes in a slightly different direction. The track's jazzy horn loop finds a more sentimental CyHi lamenting on how the time he spends on the road keeps him away from his nephews and nieces. "Emotional" shows yet another side, as Cy steals women from their boyfriends, taunting on the song's hook, "You n---as so emotional, can't keep your feeling sin control."

With 20 tracks, Royal Flush 2 offers something for everyone and allows CyHi to show off his verbal versatility. "CyHi the Prynce just bringing it to you in so many different ways," he said in third person. "That's why I call it an emotion picture, because it breaks the emotions of me."

Roger Ebert Apologizes For 'Too Quick' Ryan Dunn Tweet

Film Critic calls 'Jackass' star's death 'tragic' while reiterating previous message about dangers of drinking and driving.

Film critic Roger Ebert took some intense heat on Monday for his tweet about the car-crash death of "Jackass" star Ryan Dunn and Dunn's friend Zachary Hartwell. Although police are still investigating the cause of the crash, Ebert's quip that "friends don't let jackasses drink and drive" incensed Dunn's friends and fans.

Best bud Bam Margera responded, "I just lost my best friend, I have been crying hysterical for a full day and piece of sh-- Roger Ebert has the gall to put in his 2 cents ... about a Jackass drunk driving and his is one, f--- you! Millions of people are crying right now, shut your fat f---ing mouth!"

Ebert seemed to backtrack on his comment on Tuesday (June 21), offering his condolences to Dunn's and Hartwell's loved ones. "To begin with, I offer my sympathy to Ryan Dunn's family and friends, and to those of Zachary Hartwell, who also died in the crash," wrote Ebert, who is a well-known and widely followed Twitter user. "I mean that sincerely. It is tragic to lose a loved one. I also regret that my tweet about the event was considered cruel. It was not intended as cruel. It was intended as true."

Although he appeared to be apologizing for the haste of his tweet, Ebert did not completely back down from his comments, adding, "I have no way of knowing if Ryan Dunn was drunk at the time of his death. What I knew before posting my tweet was that not long before his death, he posted a photo on [Tumblr] showing himself drinking with two friends ... What did I mean by that? I meant exactly what I wrote. I wasn't calling Ryan Dunn a jackass. In Twitter shorthand, I was referring to his association with [the movie and show] 'Jackass.' I thought that was clear. I note that Bam Margera uses the word 'jackass' in the same way in his tweet."

Ebert then referred to an NBC Philadelphia report that noted that stories posted Tuesday morning mentioned that Dunn reportedly drank three light beers and three shots before leaving the Barnaby's pub in West Chester, Pennsylvania, and that Margera's mother, April, told the station that Dunn was a notorious fast driver and she counseled him to slow down "every day" following a bad car crash more than a decade ago.

"I don't know what happened in this case, and I was probably too quick to tweet," Ebert wrote. "That was unseemly. I do know that nobody has any business driving on a public highway at 110 mph, as some estimated — or fast enough, anyway, to leave a highway and fly through 40 yards of trees before crashing. That is especially true if the driver has had three shots and three beers. Two people were killed. What if the car had crashed into another car?"

The film critic concluded his post by reiterating "friends don't let friends drink and drive."

Drake Addresses His 'Trust Issues' In New Song

'Let them girls in and tell them all leave their cell phones on the table where we see 'em,' Drake raps on potential Take Care track.

Drake unapologetically wears his heart on his sleeve. The Toronto-born lyricist's breakout 2009 mixtape So Far Gone, with its calming melodies and relationship-based narratives, painted Drizzy as a hopeless romantic who just couldn't get it right. Large portions of his debut album, Thank Me Later, helped solidify that notion. And now, in preparation of his upcoming sophomore LP, Take Care, Drake finally admits that he has "Trust Issues."

Early Tuesday morning (June 21), Drizzy posted the subdued song on his October's Very Own blog with the message: "Did my own little thing using some other thing I did. You know."

The "other thing" is in reference to the hook Drake laid on DJ Khaled's latest single, "I'm On One," which he interpolates on this new four-minute and forty-two second track. "All I care about is money and the city that I'm from," he croons at the opening of "Trust Issues." The song's basic kick- and snare-drum pattern is placed atop a bed of muted keys, putting Drake's lullaby-like melody on full display.

As he begins his verse, Drake expresses to his lover that he doesn't trust "these bitches" to mix his drink because they might catch him "slippin' " and "put in something different." Considering his celebrity, it's easy to see why he is guarded; he further illustrates a little more than halfway through the song when he picks up the tempo with a rapped verse. When meeting new women, the Young Money MC takes extra precautions: "Let them girls in and tell them all leave their cell phones on the table where we see 'em."

Whether or not the song will appear on the upcoming LP remains to be seen, but when fans download the file following the link from October's Very Own, the MP3 is labeled with Take Care in the album field.

In the end, "Trust Issues" brings no resolution; instead, it serves as a semi-explanation as to why Drake is how he is. Is the song another part of the story that Drizzy alluded to when posting previous tracks "Dreams Money Can Buy" and "Marvin's Room"?

When he released the former, Drake wrote, "Not my single. Just a piece of my story," and when he dropped the latter, he then messaged, "Another piece of the story. Single coming in July. Take Care coming Oct. 24th."

Lady Gaga, Weird Al Find 'Happy Ending' After Parody Beef

'She's totally cool and she really likes the parody,' Al tells MTV News of 'Perform This Way.'

All is well between Lady Gaga and "Weird Al" Yankovic. After some initial drama over his parody of "Born This Way," Gaga eventually gave Al her stamp of approval.

When MTV News caught up with Weird Al on Monday night at the "Bad Teacher" premiere in New York City, he told us the pop star is actually of a fan of his track, "Perform This Way."

"Where we stand is my music video 'Perform This Way' world-premiered [Monday] and is doing quite well," he said. "My album comes out [today]," he said of Alpocalypse, which was released on Tuesday (June 21). "It all got resolved."

On the Gaga parody track, he sings, "Got my straight jacket today/ It's made of gold lamé/ No, not because I'm crazy/ I perform this way." Then he goes on to lampoon, among other topics, that famous MTV VMA meat dress: "I strap prime rib to my feet/ Cover myself with raw meat/ I'll bet you've never seen a skirt steak worn this way."

Initially, it seemed Gaga wasn't too pleased with the song's lyrics, but according to Al, she has come around. So, what exactly happened between Al and Mother Monster before things got straightened out?

"It was a big misunderstanding, miscommunication," he explained. "The bottom line is it's a happy ending. Lady Gaga approves it; she's totally cool and she really likes the parody."

In the brand-new video, Al portrays Gaga in some of her signature looks, from her Grammy egg to her bubble dress, but it wasn't easy to narrow down wardrobe for the clip.

"It's a challenge because she's got so many different looks," he said. "I mean, she's got such a bigger-than-life persona, so a big part of figuring out the video is figuring out how we're going to do two-dozen costumes in three minutes. On top of putting my head on a woman's body, that was difficult as well. So [making the video took] a lot of CG effects and wardrobe, basically."

Gaga isn't the only superstar lampooned on Alpocalypse. Al also has some fun with Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus and T.I., to name a few. "It's very eclectic, it's very odd, which I guess you come to expect from a guy like me."

As police continue to investigate the fiery car crash that took the life of "Jackass" star Ryan Dunn on Monday, a West Goshen Police Department dispatcher confirmed to MTV News on Tuesday morning (June 21) that an autopsy is under way on the body of the 34-year-old TV personality and amateur stuntman. It was unknown at press time when the autopsy results would be revealed.

The police source also confirmed the name of the passenger who was killed in the wreck, 30-year-old Zachary Hartwell of West Chester, Pennsylvania. Though Hartwell was not a member of the "Jackass" crew, he is listed as a production assistant on the second "Jackass" movie and was reportedly a recently married Iraq war veteran who had a small role in the Bam Margera-directed 2009 movie "Minghags." Hartwell is credited on IMDb as a "car stunt driver" on the film.

According to TMZ, the autopsy is intended to determine if alcohol, among other things, played a factor in the high-speed crash. The one-car accident took place around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, and according to police, Dunn's 2007 Porsche 911 GT3 flew through 40 yards of trees before it hit one and burst into flames. The initial police press release reported that the "preliminary investigation revealed that speed may have been a contributing factor to the accident."

A series of images surfaced online of Dunn drinking at the West Chester bar Barnaby's of America in the hours before the accident, but a spokesperson for the tavern told MTV News on Monday that Dunn did not appear intoxicated before he left the establishment.

Film critic and frequent Twitter user Roger Ebert weighed in on the controversy surrounding Dunn's death on Monday, writing, "Friends don't let Jackasses drink and drive," an assumption that angered Dunn's friends and fans. Dunn's close friend Margera — who like the rest of the "Jackass" crew was devastated by their friend's death — was incensed by the tweet, responding, "I just lost my best friend, I have been crying hysterical for a full day and piece of sh-- Roger Ebert has the gall to put in his 2 cents ... about a Jackass drunk driving and his is one, f--- you! Millions of people are crying right now, shut your fat f---ing mouth!"

Dunn was remembered by his friends and co-stars in a statement posted by Johnny Knoxville, producer Jeff Tremaine and the entire "Jackass" family. "I don't really know what to say right now everybody, because the sadness is overwhelming, but today we lost one of our own. Our brother Ryan Dunn has passed. He died in a car wreck in West Goshen, Pennsylvania this morning at 3 a.m. Goddamn, that's tough to write," the statement read. "Our hearts go out to his family and his beloved Angie. Ryan will be missed and remembered by us all. Thanks for the kind words of support everybody."

Have you heard? Britney's back! That's the consensus her fans came to on Monday night in Los Angeles, where Britney Spears took the stage at the Staples Center, garnering very positive reviews from her fans.

Rachel Guillory, who happens to be from Brit's home state of Louisiana, said, "She interacted with the audience. She talked, she looked happy the whole time."

Her friend Chandler Cortina added, "You can tell that she was having fun. She looked like she was enjoying herself and loving it."

The good vibes were pouring out from everyone MTV News spoke to after the show, with fans raving about her stage presence and her killer dance moves. "I'll tell you one thing: Britney is back," Andrea Urioste declared. "Who feels me on that?" she asked the crowd, who cheered in approval.

Duprel Nave agreed. "I've been a Britney fan since the beginning. She rocked it and I've been waiting for her to come back," she said. "She gets so much criticism in the media, but she is badass. She's amazing."

Fan Heather Goodly compared this trek, which is several dates in from its kickoff last week in Sacramento, to her last tour. "I went to Circus and this is a thousand times better than that show," she said. "She dances a lot more fiercely, [there are] a lot more hair flips, which is amazing for Britney."

"It's like 2004, 2001 Britney is completely back. Energetic, excited," Ricardo Garcia shared.

So, which parts rocked the most? " 'I Wanna Go,' " Pattie Cortez said of Spears' performance of her new single. "That was our favorite part. It was so intense. Everybody was doing the fist pump."

Chris Rocha went old-school for his pick. "When she did 'Slave For U,' [with] the original choreography, that brought back the old Britney for me. I was waiting for that, and to see that come back, it was awesome."

Evanescence Set To Drop New Album In October

Frontwoman Amy Lee says band's first LP in five years will be 'more of a group project.'
By James Montgomery

Evanescence are set to return in October with their first album in more than five years, according to frontwoman/mastermind Amy Lee.

In a new interview with Billboard, Lee says that the follow-up to the band's multiplatinum The Open Door is nearly complete — they're putting the finishing touches on it in Nashville — and is scheduled to hit stores on October 4 through the band's longtime label, Wind-up Records.

And, as is the case with seemingly everything Evanescence, there was certainly no shortage of drama surrounding its creation ... including an 18-month hiatus Lee took from the group at the conclusion of the Door touring cycle.

"I just sort of took off and didn't know what I was going to do next and wasn't sure if the Evanescence thing would happen again or when it would," Lee told Billboard. "I ended up falling back in love with Evanescence again and wanted to work with the guys, and it became more of a group project."

After scrapping solo sessions with producer Steve Lillywhite ("That was a hard time for me," Lee says), she was teamed with Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Velvet Revolver) and began writing new songs with her Evanescence mates, drummer Will Hunt, guitarist Terry Balsamo and bassist Tim McCord. And it was during that collaborative period that the band not only gelled, but the long-delayed album finally began to take shape.

"The process has been much more of a collaboration between the whole band," Lee said. "Usually, it's me and one main co-writer ... this time everybody had something to do with it from the ground up. ... The way everyone is playing strong, it's like we've been playing the songs on tour for a year."

A spokesperson for Wind-up Records confirmed to MTV News that the as-yet-untitled new album is set for an October 4 release, though no other information was available at press time.

Lupe Fiasco Squares Off With Bill O'Reilly: Experts Weigh In!

'I'm glad that he went on because O'Reilly just calls out rappers a lot,' one music journo tells MTV News of the outspoken MC's Fox News appearance.

Lupe Fiasco won't back down. After he labeled U.S. President Barak Obama a "terrorist" and questioned U.S. foreign policy, the Chicago rapper appeared on Fox News' "The O'Reilly Factor" on Monday to duke it out with conservative political pundit Bill O'Reilly.

Though it was thoroughly hyped before its broadcast, the five-and-a-half-minute pre-taped debate was a bit of a letdown for Rap Radar's digital content director, Brian "B. Dot" Miller. "The thing is it wasn't live; Lupe probably said a whole lot of things that were edited," Miller said. "But the points that were expressed, I felt like he had a good argument. I wish it could've gone on a little bit longer, but that's the power of TV."

Adam Fleischer, XXL magazine's music editor, also agreed that the way the debate was edited detracted from the end result. "I'm glad that he went on because O'Reilly just calls out rappers a lot, [and] then they don't usually get a chance to speak for themselves," he said. "[But] I would like to see the whole interview because it was so clear that things were chopped up. They were switching from clip to clip."

Vibe magazine Senior Editor Clover Hope, on the other hand, didn't mind the segments, though she, too, is interested in seeing what was left on the cutting-room floor. "I didn't really notice [the editing] too much. I wish they would've pointed it to the Web though," she said.

After Lupe made those controversial comments about Obama and declined the TV host's initial invitation to appear on his Fox show, 'O'Reilly called the rapper a "pinhead." But last night Lupe stood strong, clarifying, then defending his position.

"The statement that I made, which was, 'I believe that the biggest terrorist, Obama and the United States of America and its foreign policy, that was what the whole context of everything was," Lupe pointed out on the show. "And it's really just an expression of me trying to understand critically, the society." O'Reilly, who is often critical of the president, came to Obama's defense, saying that Lupe's fans aren't "exactly political science PHDs," but rather "impressionable kids."

O'Reilly added that the responsibility of the president is to protect the country and that Obama was doing that through "aggressive action." Both agreed that the death of Osama Bin Laden was a legitimate action. Fiasco went on to assert that the aim of the war in Afghanistan was to go in and find Bin Laden, which O'Reilly then charged was in effect an oversimplification of the war.

"I thought he actually did a good job of holding his own and clarifying that point that he just wasn't talking about Obama, just America as an institution," Hope said about Lupe's overall performance. "I just think it's too complicated to reduce it to 'Lupe thinks Obama is a terrorist.' "

The debate wrapped on a light-hearted note when O'Reilly and Lupe joked about changing the show's name to "The Fiasco Factor."

"I don't think one necessarily got the best of the other," Fleischer said. "O'Reilly had home-court advantage so he kind of controls the narrative, but Lupe held his own." "I don't think anybody necessarily won that debate," Hope agreed. "They kind of both talked."

NEW YORK"Bad Teacher" stars Justin Timberlake, Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel came out on Monday night for the premiere of their raunchy comedy. And Diaz, who plays couldn't-care-less teacher Elizabeth Halsey, told us she why she loved the role.

"It was a lot of fun. Elizabeth was such a well-written character," she told MTV News on the Ziegfeld Theatre's black carpet. "It was easy to play her; it was easy to say the words. She was so well-defined."

For photos of the stars walking the black carpet, click here.

Cameron's character is very naughty, and her co-stars Tom Lennon and Phyllis Smith ("The Office") jokingly admitted that they might have paid more attention in school back in the day if a teacher had been as sexy as Diaz, a sentiment the A-list star completely understood.

"I think that's why people love Elizabeth," Diaz said. "It's because everyone wants to be her, even for an hour, maybe a day. If you get away with a week — oh my gosh! I got to play her for six weeks. So yeah, it was a lot of fun."

As it turns out, it isn't just Elizabeth's attitude that's fierce, but also her killer sense of style. Diaz fully embraced the teacher's fashion sense in the Jake Kasdan-directed flick. "The wardrobe is really good. Elizabeth is a working girl, if you know what I mean," she laughed. "So she has to look a certain way: She's always either coming in from the night before or going out and she never wants to be mistaken as a teacher and she wears [Christian] Louboutins every day of her life and she just doesn't belong in school."

Check out everything we've got on "Bad Teacher."
