The Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards hit Los Angeles on Saturday (March 27) with plenty of performances, surprises and, of course, slime.

Kevin James opened the show in a sketch with Nick stars Big Time Rush, who gave the host some pointers on how to make the show cool. Their biggest hint: Make sure someone gets slimed. When James hit the stage, "angel" Adam Sandler descended from the ceiling to remind his "I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry" co-star that he could do it. James then took off the tux and started dancing while Sandler sang a little ditty to the tune of KC and the Sunshine Band's "Get Down Tonight," with slime released from the floor.

Rosario Dawson and Shaun White gave out the first award for Favorite Movie Actor to "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" star Taylor Lautner. "Is this happening? I have to admit, I have always dreamt of winning one of these orange blimps," Lautner told the crowd. "Seriously. And I can't believe I'm finally holding one."

James made sure the show was "beyond awesome." How? By firing free stuff out of a canon. Ladies and gentlemen, this isn't the Grammys. He told the crowd there were more than 115 million votes, adding that it was a new world record for awards-show fan votes.

"Karate Kid" stars Jayden Smith and Jackie Chan showed off some martial-arts moves then handed out the Favorite TV Show award to "iCarly." Miranda Cosgrove eagerly accepted the award, saying, "Wow, this is amazing. Most of all, I want to say thank you to the fans."

George Lopez and Tyra Banks hit the stage to present Favorite TV Actress. Banks praised the ladies for "chasing their dreams," and the blimp went to "Wizards of Waverly Place" star Selena Gomez. "I'm so nervous," she told the crowd. "I know it's because of you guys I get to live my dream out every day. I'm the luckiest girl in the whole world."

Big Time Rush introduced Rihanna, who took the stage and sang her hit "Hard" in a sparkly black hat and a gray and hot-pink dress. The stage was complete with a band, a tank and military-inspired backup dancers. The medley also included "Rude Boy, with the risqué lyrics toned down, and "Don't Stop the Music."

The awards show included quite a few slimings. "The Last Airbender" and "Twilight" star Jackson Rathbone was one of the many celebrities who ended up green by the end of the night. Jonah Hill and Katy Perry, in a neon-blue wig and yellow dress, presented the award for Favorite Movie Actress. But first, Hill pulled a fast one on Perry, tricking her into opening a box that covered her in slime.

That award went to Miley Cyrus, who ran away from a slime-covered Perry. "Thank you, Katy, for not sliming me," she said. "It really got you, but good thing we both wear wigs. ... Thank you guys so much!"

After Perry got slimed, the stage needed to be cleaned up before Victoria Justice and Dev Patel introduced Justin Bieber. The teen sensation sang his hit "Baby" with backup dancers and a full band. His performance included some smooth moves and a lot of fan interaction with the girls near the stage. He also displayed his rap skills, tackling Ludacris' part in the song. It wasn't just his young fans singing along with the tune; a shot of the crowd also showed Tyra Banks singing along.

Keke Palmer and Miranda Cosgrove presented the Big Help Award to first lady Michelle Obama for her efforts to prevent childhood obesity. "Nickelodeon has big fans in the White House," she said, accepting her award via video. "I'm always so impressed by the passion and energy you put into everything you do. You guys have to make smart and healthy choices in your own lives. It's not always easy, but I know you can do it."

"Where was that speech when I was 6?" James joked.

Zoe Saldana and Robert Downey Jr. presented the award for Favorite Movie. "I thought you'd be bluer," he joked to the actress. Surprisingly, "New Moon" was beat out by "Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel." Stars Jesse McCartney, Anna Faris and Zachary Levi accepted the blimp. "You probably don't recognize me. I'm usually a lot shorter and hairier," McCartney joked. Levi added: "And to 'Twilight,' sorry!"

"Date Night" stars Steve Carell and Tina Fey thought they were going to get an award. "Maybe it's a lifetime-achievement award," Carell joked before they won a slime-time achievement award and got covered in the green goo. "This is better than winning any award!" they agreed.

The show ended with James taking the show "beyond awesome" by getting slimed with "Angel" Adam Sandler making his return and with Apolo Anton Ohno setting a new slime world record by catapulting himself into a small pool of slime.

Other wins included Favorite Reality Show for "American Idol," Favorite Male Singer for Jay-Z, and Taylor Swift taking home Favorite Female Singer and Favorite Song ("You Belong With Me").

During Saturday's (March 27) 23rd annual Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards, singer Katy Perry joined an elite and very exclusive group whose members include Johnny Depp, Harrison Ford and Sandra Bullock. In other words, she was slimed.

Clad in a skintight yellow dress and a bright blue wig, Perry took the KCA stage along with actor Jonah Hill to present the award for Favorite Movie Actress. As Perry opened the box to reveal the winner's name, she was met instead by a forceful green geyser of slime, which sent her flying to the floor and coated her face, outfit and fake hair.

"I can't see anything," she exclaimed after emerging from a puddle of the slimy goo and hugging Hill. "Why does it taste like boogers?"

"You look great," Hill reassured her.

When winner Miley Cyrus' name was finally announced for the acting award, Perry made a move to hug the winner as she reached for her orange blimp.

"Don't you dare," Cyrus warned.

After dodging the singer stealthily, Cyrus joked, "Luckily, we both wear wigs, so it's OK."

Prior to Saturday's ceremony, Perry tweeted, "Hope I don't get none of that disgusting booger slime on me @Kids Choice Awards 2night ... I'll slap the ho that ruins my weave, nails, face!" Following her messy presentation, Perry simply tweeted, "Crap."

Perry was one of several celebs, including "Twilight" actor Jackson Rathbone, to be slimed during the evening's show.

This was not the first time Perry got a little dirty on an awards-show stage. During 2008's Los Premios, the "I Kissed a Girl" singer belly-flopped into a giant birthday cake, slipping on the icing and falling to the ground.

Starry-eyed tweens and celebrities alike (we saw you, Tyra!) rocked out to Justin Bieber's single "Baby" during the 16-year-old's energetic performance Saturday (March 27) at the 23rd annual Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards.

Bieber kept his performance number a surprise for the fans, telling MTV News, "I do know what I'm performing, but I don't want to tell anyone."

Clad in his signature plaid shirt and Converse sneakers, Bieber bounded and bounced across the KCA stage, performing the My World 2.0 tune, even taking over collaborator Ludacris' rap portion to the delight of his gleeful fans.

The Canadian-born sensation was one of two singers to perform for the show, in addition to his crush, 22-year-old "Umbrella" singer Rihanna.

It's been a busy month for Bieber, who not only released his sophomore album on Tuesday, but recently announced his first headlining My World Tour, which kicks off June 23 in Hartford, Connecticut, and features guest performer Sean Kingston.

"It's going to be fun," Bieber told MTV News about the summer jaunt. "You can expect just to have a great time. It's somewhere that you can just have a blast. It's a place where hopefully you can relate to the songs and stuff. So hopefully you guys love it."

Bieber will also be hitting the broadcast airwaves next month, appearing as the musical guest on the April 10 Tina Fey-hosted episode of "Saturday Night Live."

"I'm really excited. I've watched it all my life," he said. "So it's amazing to be able to perform."

On Saturday night (March 27) in Los Angeles, the hottest place to be was the orange carpet at the Kids' Choice Awards, where everyone from Nickelodeon stars to Justin Bieber and Taylor Lautner rubbed elbows. While no one was slimed on the orange carpet, there were some notable fashion choices.

Bieber hit the show in a black vest, black jeans, black T-shirt and dog tags and fittingly wore slime-green high-tops. Fellow performer Rihanna kept her ensemble light in a beige, draped dress.

"Twilight" was definitely represented at the show. Lautner was looking funkier than usual in a relaxed white T-shirt, black blazer and jeans. Meanwhile, Nikki Reed looked fresh in a pastel, floral-print tiered dress.

The Jonas Brothers went with their usual red-carpet attire. Joe donned a gray suit ,white T-shirt and light-blue boat shoes; Nick had on a khaki suit and red bow tie; and oldest brother Kevin opted for a black, pinstripe suit but funked it up with sneakers and a striped tie. They were joined by little brother Frankie in a fedora, plaid shirt and orange cast and Joe's lady, Demi Lovato, who wore big hoop earrings and a black dress with corseted detailing.

The Nick stars were out in full force. "Victorious" star Victoria Justice wore a teal dress with peep-toe ankle boots. "iCarly" star Miranda Cosgrove looked adorable in a purple-satin strapless dress with a ruffled hemline. Keeping the color alive was Keke Palmer in an abstract floral-print dress in a pastel color with lavender peep-toes.

Katy Perry wore her signature bangs and a very mini black, teal and purple sequined flapper dress accessorized with turquoise pumps. Selena Gomez looked cool in a deep-yellow, Grecian-style dress belted at her waist with a funky, loosely done braid.

MIAMI — Dance music's biggest weekend in America kicked off with a series of powerful performances at day one of the Ultra Music Festival (held during the Winter Music Conference) at Miami's oceanfront Bicentennial Park. With a multitude of stages (and even a Heineken-inspired dome), the weekend's lineup is probably UMC's largest and most star-studded grouping yet, boasting over 200 DJs from around the world and the likes of Swedish House Mafia, Deadmau5, Armin van Buuren, DJ Tiesto and David Guetta.

Over at the UMF Ibiza Stage, both Kaskade and Will.I.Am dropped new material for fans — Kaskade from his forthcoming Dynasty LP and Will.I.Am for undetermined releases.

"I think it's important to come out to WMC to test out the new beats you've been making — rockin' the crowds, learning from the crowds," Will told MTV News Friday night, just before he took the stage again to join a close friend.

Indeed, Black Eyed Peas collaborator and dance-music titan David Guetta put on what seemed like a hip-hop collab fest, being joined by many friends on the Ultra main stage during the course of his set. He whipped the crowd into a frenzy with his thumping "Gettin' Over" before transitioning into "One Love." Will jumped onstage for "On the Dancefloor," then Guetta charged into a series of his hits, including the Lil Jon/ DJ Chuckie remix of "Sexy Chick" and BEP's "I Gotta Feeling." He ended up closing his set with a premiere of a new song called "Getting Over You" (featuring LMFAO), and sure enough, the party rock duo, who are currently on tour with BEP, joined Guetta onstage for his finale.

Closing out the night at Bicentennial Park was Dutch trance heavyweight DJ Tiesto, who had the thousands of fans in attendance clapping in unison for the majority of his nearly two-hour-long set. With pyrotechnics blasting, the crowd jumped to its feet, singing along with his Nelly Furtado collaboration "Who Wants to be Alone" and other hits from Tiesto's catalog, including "Escape Me," I Will Be Here" and "Love Comes Again."

"Victorious" is a new show on Nickelodeon about a young lady, Tori Vega, who finds herself smack dab in the middle of the drama that surrounds life at a performing arts high school. Making its premiere after the Kids' Choice Awards, the show's star, Victoria Justice, said that getting to star in her own show after playing supporting roles on other Nick shows like "Zoey 101" and "iCarly" has certainly proved to be a dream come true.

"I just think it's such an awesome show and the writing is hilarious," Justice told MTV News on the show's set. "My whole cast is amazingly talented, so I feel like the luckiest girl in the world."

While Justice certainly has a lot of Hollywood experience for someone of her young age, co-star Mark Bennett, who plays Robbie on the show, explained that her character Tori is still trying to figure out who she is as a performer. "[It's] a show for people with dreams," he said. "It's a real Cinderella story. She's trying to integrate herself into the Hollywood society."

Justice agreed. "She's kind of figuring out how to express herself, and she loves singing and dancing and acting," she said. "And then along the way she meets all these other crazy kids that go there."

So if her character loves singing and dancing, does that mean we will get to see Justice do both on the show? "We have all original music," she said. "And I think there's going to be a song every three or four episodes or so."

Riding a mini pink-camouflage tank, Rihanna took the stage at the 23rd annual Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards on Saturday (March 27) to perform a medley of her hits.

The Barbadian singer began her set with the Rated R single "Hard," rocking out in a military-inspired, pink-trimmed puffy frock. She quickly transitioned into her latest single, "Rude Boy," trading her slew of backup dancers for two nearly 7-foot-tall robots, who boogied with the Grammy-winning singer. Joined once again by her dancers, Rihanna closed the set with the Good Girl Gone Bad hit "Don't Stop the Music."

On the Kids' Choice Awards orange carpet before the show, Rihanna kept her ensemble light in a beige, draped dress. She was one of the night's fashion standouts, which also included Taylor Lautner, Miranda Cosgrove and Katy Perry.

Rihanna was one of two singers to perform at the awards show, along with teen sensation Justin Bieber, who famously has a crush on the 22-year-old singer. Rihanna is currently working on her next album, which she told MTV Korea would be "more energetic."

"Rated R, I love the sound of it, in terms of the bass," Rihanna said. "I really like the bottom, the grime of it. But if I were to combine that with more energetic, uptempo pop records, then I think that will be a happy marriage. And that's where we'll probably go next."

What did you think of Rihanna's performance? Did she perform all the songs you wanted to hear? Let us know in the comments below! Stick with MTVNews.com all night for more from the Kids' Choice Awards.

As an Olympic speed skater, Apolo Anton Ohno is no stranger to setting records. The eight-time medalist became the Winter Olympics' most decorated athlete during the 2010 games. But Ohno set a new gold standard at Saturday's (March 27) 23rd annual Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards, catapulting into the slime world-record books.

For the show's grand finale, the "Dancing With the Stars" champ strapped himself into the Slime Slingshot, a human catapult that would sling him 60 yards in the air, through a goal post and into a small pool of gooey, green slime.

Giving the thumbs-up sign to Slime Stunt Correspondent John Cena, Ohno "flew" through the air, cannon-balling into the waiting vat. Submerged for several seconds, Ohno rose, splashing slime on the onlookers surrounding the pool.

Following the stunt, Ohno gave this detailed play-by-play: "Right here, I start peeing my pants," he joked, reliving climbing into the catapult. "Then I'm thinking, 'I can see my house from here.' Finally, I'm thinking, 'Would it have killed them to heat up the slime pool a little bit?' "

Ohno was one of several famous faces to be doused in Nickelodeon's signature green slime, including "Twilight" star Jackson Rathbone, singer Katy Perry and "Date Night" co-stars Tina Fey and Steve Carell.

Despite his messy appearance, Ohno tweeted, "That was fun ... KCA is the place to be!!" following the ceremony.
